When the chips are down and democracy's back is up against the wall, two radio veterans step up to the microphone to right the wrongs, standing for truth, justice, and just because.
To say what needs to be said, it's John and Gordy on 92.7 WMDX.
WMDX, 92.7, John and Gordy in the morning.
A very rainy morning.
Huge storms rolling through.
Still rolling through, I believe.
I'm just pulling up the radar right now as we speak.
All day.
It's going to be all day rain.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Well, I'm going to just see my storm tracking weather forecast that I'm so famous for.
Let's see, well yeah, yeah, I don't know.
It's mainly rain, I don't think.
It's just gonna be rain.
Yeah, not too many storms, but we might hear a couple of rumbles of thunder.
Yeah, okay.
A couple.
Well, yeah, very casual, very easy growing guy this morning.
Grab the umbrella before you head out this morning.
Are you sure to check your windshield
wipers?
You
gotta make sure they work.
Get your, get your muck locks on and your, your galoshes and your hip waders.
No.
Could be some flash
flooding out there.
You never know.
Rain, rain, rain.
Rainy day.
And what are we comparing the rain to?
What do you mean?
What is that comparison that the weather forecasters have made that we weren't even aware of?
Tacos coming down in buckets.
What we're like comparing tacos
to tacos.
Yeah,
remember that?
Yeah, man.
Yeah, some kind of taco thing.
Yeah.
Can we call up one of your famous weather guys here in Madison to find out what that is?
See, we can get a hold of Charlie Shortino.
Try to put a call out to him.
Channel 15.
I'm sure they'll take it.
They'll take the call.
Yeah, what is
it?
Gordy, do you have any compilations of like best moments from over the, over your course of your years as a weatherman?
Being a TV weatherman?
Yeah.
Somewhere in a box in my basement, there's some old videotapes, yeah, from the old days.
Yeah?
Yeah, I've got a few.
Any that come to mind of any like disasters that happened on the
air?
Well, you know, I once, you know, I...
over channel 15, you know, March coming in like a lamb and out like a lion that whole deal.
You heard of that
phrase.
I brought in a lamb
into the
studio and it peed all over the floor on the air.
It was great.
Yeah, I got a call from the general manager after that one.
Where
did you just borrow a lamb
from?
Well, that's a good question.
I don't remember.
There was some farmer nearby that was a fan, I guess.
Yeah, that was a good one.
Aren't pets well-known to be, you know, taking a leak or whatever?
Indoors usually, I mean, it's not like a taboo, you really shouldn't do it, bring a cow in or horses.
Yeah, I couldn't have planned it any better, it was great.
Yeah, that was a good idea.
Another time I was doing, you know, we had the Olympics, NBC's had the Olympics forever, so we were doing an Olympic coverage and I was doing, I had a, I fashioned a torch.
I was doing, I was pointing at the weather maps with the torch.
Oh, that's nice.
No, Sam's not even paying attention.
So I was,
And we had lighter fluid inside this torch-like device.
And it was lit.
And
I was
pointing a thing.
And the bit was the floor director was going to douse it with water at the end of the forecast.
You know, now we're going to put out the torch.
He threw the water.
The flame came out of the torch and hit me on the, right at the microphone on my.
on my lapel, destroyed the microphone, could have burned me really
horribly, but
it destroyed the suit.
So that was fun.
It pushed the flame off the torch onto your shirt.
Splashed onto my jacket.
That's why you don't pour water on a grease fire.
Well, yeah.
But it was a great bit.
Did it show your panicked look?
Oh, yeah.
There must have been a panicked look.
Yeah, I've got that on tape somewhere to dig that out.
It just
framed that.
frame it antics like that that got me the best of Madison that year 1994 it
was all
worth
it
then
oh
of course um so we have rain today
what's
the uh what do you think the high might be for today on your wmdx samson watch
well i'm going to high temperature wow what do you
think 50 degrees today well i don't
think it's
47 i don't think so like uh
I don't think we're gonna get any warmer than we are today.
Do we have a way of cutting that out?
How about the... What do we got?
What do we have?
We have the bar dice.
Did I not put the
weather wheel on there?
On one of those?
Oh, and we have the weather wheel?
I thought I put it in the...
I sure don't think so, John.
Cutsless.
Okay.
All right, well, let's use whatever you got
there.
Yeah, you want the bar dice?
Sure, let's hear the bar dice.
Definitely
use the bar
dice.
Shake them
up.
Smack it down.
Here we go.
There it is.
Well, this says 44 by later days.
So temperatures are really going to slide from highs
near
50 this morning.
Okay.
Down to about 44.
Oh, it's
two
fours.
Okay.
We're competing then the WMD and Samsung watch.
Okay.
And the official weather forecast of the weather dice.
Okay.
Or die.
What do you call it?
Die.
You can't have one die that says 44.
Well, there's two fours, right?
Right.
Yeah.
That's exactly right.
Yes.
But die is plural, right?
And that's what I'm talking
about.
No, dice is plural.
Oh, it is?
Yeah.
A die is just one.
No,
I think die is, no.
Why are we arguing over this?
Die, I think is plural.
I don't know.
Let's get to the National Day calendar.
That's
about time.
Going
down and flames over here.
God.
What is it today?
What is it or is it not?
Is it National Keesh Lorraine Day?
Remember Keesh
Lorraine?
She had a great act
with Vegas for years.
Terrific dancer.
People are just, yeah.
It comes Keesh
Lorraine.
Yeah.
It's a national streaming day, national rescue dog day, national comic strip day, national pick strawberries day, or a national be a million, be a millionaire day.
Which one of those days doesn't belong
not
be a millionaire day.
Well, you're wrong.
It is national be a millionaire Who comes up with this crap Sam, what do you think?
I was gonna say it's too early for picking strawberries, but I might be wrong I would have picked that one.
I'm still going with it's not strawberry.
Yeah,
I would have picked that one It's it is national
We
got a
text in just in from Catherine.
She says are you kidding me?
It's one die roll the dice
Exactly.
One
die is a die.
It one dice is a die.
All right, never mind.
I
stand corrected.
Did you even remember the list?
I did not.
He's taking after me just like I taught him.
Way to go, Tom.
You're in with the in crowd.
It is not National Comic Strip Day.
You're both wrong.
There you go.
That might be some other day,
but it's
not today.
Yeah, there aren't very many comic strips out there anymore, aren't there?
No, there aren't.
You know, there used to be
Sunday comics, used
to be the thing, you know?
In Milwaukee, they had a green sheet.
They called it the green sheet.
It was a green sheet in the paper where all the comics were.
Yeah, in features and some features.
Why would they?
They had green paper.
They printed the color
comics on green paper
was a no no this was during the week During the week they had the the comics, but on Sunday.
It was all color
Okay, it's national quiche Lorraine day.
Do you like quiche?
Keys is nice.
I like
it.
Yeah, quiche.
Yeah, sure
quiche Lorraine has origins beginning in the rural Lorraine region of France.
Oh boy
How do we pronounce Keith Lorraine?
So
how
do you
say
croissant?
No, not
croissant.
With a typical French pronunciation.
No, Keith Lorraine, never mind.
Julian is stuck on that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Wait, get out of here.
I think we're looking it up right now.
Okay.
Keith Lorraine.
The origin.
How hard is that to say, though?
Keith
Lorraine.
I guess it's okay.
All right.
Keith Lorraine must include eggs, heavy cream, bacon, Swiss cheese, and a flaky crust.
They can be hungry just
talking
about it.
Yeah.
Okay.
I mean, if I had cream in the refrigerator often, I'd try something like that, but, you know, you never have cream in the refrigerator.
You don't?
No.
Who does?
I don't.
It doesn't last long.
Nope.
It's National Streaming Day.
The first computer was invented, it says here, in the 1940s, but it wasn't until the late 1990s that streaming became accessible.
Since then, technologies made huge advancements, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
You ever buy from, or rent from Netflix back when they were still a mail-order DVD service?
I miss those days.
I
think it was really recently that they stopped doing that service.
You could mail order a DVD from Netflix up until like...
two years ago or something.
No, really?
Yeah.
Well, no, I don't think so.
So I gotta be 10 years ago.
Okay.
Stream
to celebrate.
Let's Google it.
Good thing that we have this magical Google
machine.
Stream to celebrate National Streaming Day.
Watch movies, listen to a variety of music.
Okay, we know
about streaming.
We don't really... We could stream podcasts like this show.
We
could.
Yeah.
It's National Rescue Dog Day.
National Pick Strawberries Day.
And let's check out National Be A Millionaire Day.
Yeah.
By the way, September of 2023.
What?
Last time you could mail over a DVD from Netflix.
2023.
Yeah.
But
then I just, what?
I can't
wrap my head around that.
That seems very, very
recent.
It's National Be A Millionaire Day.
We celebrate National Be A Millionaire Day and wonder what it would be like to be a millionaire.
Have you ever imagined what it would be like?
Well, if you have, this holiday's for you.
Wow, there you go.
That's stupid.
Well, that's quite the explanation.
Here's how to become a millionaire.
Start a savings account,
it says.
Review your financial portfolio with a trusted expert.
Review your investments.
Add to your 401k.
Pay off your credit card.
Review your spending hat, okay.
Anything
about meme coins in there?
No, nothing.
Nothing.
All right.
Let's get to the history books here.
Can you open one up there?
Oh, gosh, it's so dusty.
Go ahead.
You got to teach Dominic about this.
Do you even know what's about to happen?
Oh, don't.
Oh, dear God.
Stand back, Dominic.
Oh, no.
Oh, cough.
Look at the look on Dominic's face.
Oh, man.
Oh, God,
it's so
dusty.
It's so, uh, yeah.
Now
you know it.
How you know what you're in for.
What's that,
Dominic?
What'd you say?
Oh, it's my last day here now.
Oh, geez.
Okay.
They didn't tell you about the asbestos.
No, I suppose
not.
All
right.
Well, what's on the history
book?
I swear to God, somebody just like has like a salt shaker and sprinkles it on this book cover every day.
There's gotta be something wrong.
I know.
He's playing a prank on it.
Well, we're going way back.
Today in 1774, Parliament, British Parliament, they passed the Intolerable Acts.
You think they were very tolerable?
No tolerable what no no they were not they were intolerable intolerable it was a series of five acts of parliament The ones that everyone remembers they closed the port of Boston What are you pointing at?
We have a phone call, but go
I'm just trying
to point it
out to John.
John's in his own world here.
He doesn't care about history.
He sits right next
to me.
I can't get his attention.
No, I saw your arms.
I realized what you were doing.
You have to give him the special John and Gordy hand sign.
Yes, the hand signal.
Oh, ow.
Yeah.
OK, go ahead, Sam.
Finish off the hand sign.
Yeah, this is
intolerable.
Just go
ahead.
They close the port of Boston.
That's kind of a big deal.
This is in response, mostly, to the Boston Tea Party.
Britain's way of getting back at Massachusetts.
Oh, excellent.
They revoked Massachusetts colonial charter.
They just kind of made it not a colony anymore for a while, which is a big deal.
And one of them also was the quartering act, which made colonists, like, you could be forced to house British soldiers in your house, which was a knot.
Not great.
No, that's not a good thing.
That's why we have the Third Amendment nowadays.
Right.
Okay.
All right.
Well, we'll get to more of the history book stuff.
You have a few things
more, don't you?
I do have a few more things.
All
right.
And Matt, hang on the line.
We'll get to your phone call as well.
Uh, 608-879-8255.
That's our number if you want to call it or use the Civic Media app.
It's free to download and free to use, okay?
You can call us right from the end.
What?
What's your problem?
Well, Catherine, you know, she has to be so confrontational.
Are you kidding me?
We're coming right back with more
of John and Gordy on a rainy morning.
Stay
with
us.
Why
are
we playing share?
We should have had this as an intro to your history lesson each
and
every day.
You know
you're so right.
That was it.
We should have
had instead of opening the damn book every morning.
623 rain this morning, rain all day off and on.
Temperatures staying in the 40s this portion of John and Gordy the morning brought to you by our friends at Madison Hearing Aid Center I'm going there later today.
Yes, you are.
I've got an appointment.
Well, that's good.
I don't
know what time I have to look it up on my calendar, but Yeah, going to get the years checked out like you did a few weeks ago and Madison Hearing Aid Center there at 4706 Cottage Grove Road in Madison
changing, helping people and changing their lives.
Their number one goal isn't just selling hearing aids.
It's improving the quality of life through better hearing.
Well, my life has improved a lot.
Has it?
Yeah.
You
can hear better.
That's an improvement right away.
I can
hear better.
Yes, I can hear some of the dialogue in the movies as I'm watching TV and
watching the
movies.
Explain to me that these, this Bluetooth capability the hearing aids have.
How does
that, how does that work?
Well, you can set it to automatically intercept the phone calls that you get.
Is
that right to
the calls?
Yeah.
Right into your
hearing.
Yes.
Yes.
Also listen, you know, as you're walking to your music from your phone.
Nice.
You can do all those.
John, what happens if you Bluetooth into a silent movie like Metropolis?
Oh,
yes.
Well,
that's the trick right there.
Madison Hearing Aid Center will explain it all to you.
They have fast and flexible appointments.
You can call them up and talk to Jim or Sarah.
MadisonHearingAidCenter.com, their excellent website, has all kinds of terrific information and a free hearing test.
You can do that right on their website.
I'm still thinking that
they should
call them headsets instead of hearing aids, right?
Headsets.
I
mean,
everybody's got them now, yeah.
Yeah, they're similar.
I mean, everybody is wearing these kinds of headsets now in the ear, out of the ear.
I don't know.
Well, if you say headset, my first thought
is that you've got a
set of heads back home.
That's a little
bit of a scary thought.
Yes.
MadisonHearingAidCenter.com.
All right, check them out.
This portion of the show also brought to you by our friends at Verlo Mattress of Madison.
One thing that remains constant since they opened their doors way back in 1958.
They are direct to consumer providing superior products at unbeatable prices.
They have two locations in Madison.
Can you guess where their locations are, John?
I believe there's one on the west side.
And where would the other line and the other one is at the east side on East Wash.
That's right.
East Washington.
Okay.
Go to verlo.com and check out their lifetime comfort guarantee.
Drive by there all the time.
Okay.
Should we get to more history or should we go to Matt on the phone here?
Matt's been waiting forever.
Matt, what's happening this morning?
Yeah, what's, what's going on out in Middleton?
Good morning guys.
It's raining and I'd like to rain on the parade of these tech oligarchs and their ridiculous fantasies.
Future that they're trying to sell everyone over in Saudi Arabia.
You had a lot of these CEOs and and they're promising this 50 trillion dollar Industry of robotics, right?
Yes.
Yeah, and we're now being led in America by a used car salesman Elon Musk is a salesman.
He's not very he might he was okay at selling the idea of him being brilliant And that was a good sales pitch
But I'm just wondering what you guys think about this idea that makes no sense to me.
But they say $50 trillion in robotics, but when you get all the robots doing everything, where are the consumers anymore?
It's all done, right?
That's the end of capitalism as we know it.
That's right.
Yes.
Yes.
But they're trying to sell it like it makes sense.
Right.
And we won't be able to afford the robots.
Right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
And then, of course, they say they'll need people to fix and program the robots.
But, you know, I think they'll
have robots to do that.
Another stage in the decline of capitalism, because the first big error I saw was when they're starting to make everything subscription and you can't own anything anymore.
They have to keep the revenue coming and no one's happy about that.
And no one seems to be happy about this robotic future either.
So do you think we're just going to devolve into two different civilizations, one that does not have the digital tech field economy and then the other one that's more hands on and can't afford to be in that one?
What do you do for a living?
Are you worried about Lucy, your job to a robot?
What do you do?
Well, I'm a mailman and I love it.
Yeah,
yeah, I work for the public sector.
So I have to put up with conservatives giving me snares all the time because they know that I get paid decent.
I have a union.
I'm represented and they can't just crush my job without a fight.
Yes.
But
you're trying to do now.
But, you know,
I think that we worried about all these things before, you know, I mean, you know, being replaced by robots.
Well, you know, way back when we had Gilligan's Island and Hillbillies and we were watching that and thought.
Everybody thought that society would decline dramatically after watching those
shows.
Well, man, maybe they'll furnish you with a robot companion driving around in your postal truck that'll be delivering the mail.
You'll just have to make sure that the robot is okay.
And you won't have to worry about any dogs coming up and biting you in the ankle.
Well, they've got robot dogs too.
Oh, well, see,
everybody, you know, everybody forgets there was a movie Robocop.
You know, we already replaced the police in movies.
Yeah, but that robot still had feelings, so.
That's right.
All right.
Okay, man.
All right, man.
Have a good day, guys.
All
right.
See ya.
Matt's got it all figured out.
No, he doesn't.
He needs to help.
He needs our guidance.
You can call us 608-879-8255 or get ahold of us on the Civic Media app.
Text us or call us right from the app on the WMDX part of that app, okay?
All right, coming up, it's idiocracy.
Oh, we've got a lot of it for you.
We do.
But first, the Midwest Farm Report.
Food and Farm.
It's all about...
It's all about that.
Fabulous
farm, babe.
All
about food
and
farm.
Yeah, of course it is.
Okay.
We're coming right back with more of John and Gordy for Tuesday morning.
Stay right there.
As the 21st century began, human evolution was at a turning point, a dumbing down, until humanity was incapable of solving even its most basic problems.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be
considered a rational thought.
Just when I think you couldn't possibly be any dumber, you go and do something like this.
We can duck and cover.
There's a fallen shelter right there.
There's no way to survive this, you
idiot.
Idiocracy.
For the smartest guy in the world, you're pretty dumb sometimes.
Oh, man.
Oh, yeah.
92.7 WMDX, John Peterson, Gordy Young, along with producer Sam and new producer Dominic.
Yeah, we got the whole crew here this time.
Yes, yes.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
And rain.
Rain rain rain all day long off and on anyway flash flooding possible Lightening both thrown in there Yep, and temperatures in the 40s.
So kind of chilly breezy and rainy.
That's it
now we just saw on the screen
and
CNN
that a representative is now being charged with roughing up some of the security, I believe that's the time when the mayor was also arrested.
And this was
during an ICE raid?
Or was protesting an ICE
raid?
They were at the ICE facility
to
inspect it, and the mayor was arrested, I think now, because of the videotape, now they're charging a representative.
Hmm This is a weird strange government is I mean they're they're going to lock up judges Representatives mayors anybody that gets in their way.
Yeah, and we kind of will eventually get used to this this kind of a behavior and Under the iron fist of the administration
This is really kind
of crazy
really scary stuff.
It is
now.
I was just checking X out here and Joe who's a regular poster on X Not the one that calls into the station here, but this is another Joe and she writes about the Ashley Babbitt
who was killed yes
in January 6 during the raid.
Yeah
She writes, she attacked her capital and was shot in the process.
She was trying to get our lawmakers.
She was warned.
She did not comply.
And that is why she was shot.
And the madman she did it for is giving her family $5 million.
Is that right?
In compensation.
Yep.
Wow.
But you can't fund cancer research for kids.
Okay, so anyway, yeah, let's just reward January 6 people, right?
I mean, just pay them for
damages.
The protesters.
It was a day of
love, John.
Well, it was a day of love.
Yeah, it
was just tourists going through.
Right.
Just like they normally do, you
know.
And the Speaker's podium was a big souvenir, right?
Right.
I heard they sell those in the gift shop now.
That's right.
So it's just insane.
It is.
Lawlessness, that's what it's all about.
You get rewarded for it by the Trump administration.
Right?
All right.
Now, here it is.
I'm not going to do this here.
I am going to do this here.
All right.
Trump has ordered the federal department to purchase and erect huge banners of his face on all federal buildings at an estimated cost of $184 million.
Wow.
Trump says they'll
They, they do it in North Korea and China to show respect for their supreme leaders.
So why shouldn't we, you know, you'd almost think that's not really a quote.
Sounds like a joke.
He actually said that.
So, uh, let's, uh, let's listen to a theme song.
I know they're going to be playing there.
Oh,
really?
Yeah, yeah.
It's gonna be a big,
big parade.
Wow.
The Ruddles.
Have you seen the posters?
People are using
AI to create their own posters.
Well, I saw pictures last night on the news of some huge banners.
And I don't
know which
federal building this was,
but
they had a big picture of Abraham Lincoln, a huge face of Abraham Lincoln.
I mean, it was.
I don't know, 50 feet tall.
He was giving him the finger, right?
With
poster after poster after poster,
right?
No, I didn't see that.
His arm
outstretched.
No, really.
I didn't see that one.
No, this was a different thing.
See, that's what they're doing on mine.
But Trump, they had a big Trump picture there.
I mean, it had to be 50 or 60 feet tall.
It's crazy.
Yes, he wants that on all the federal buildings.
Okay, so why are we doing this?
You know, why are we having this huge celebration?
Well, Pete Hagseth, he had a few comments about it.
Let's listen to this.
We're not a militaristic country at all.
So showing how great our weapons are is just something that we just don't do in this country.
But anyway, here's Pete Hagseth
with this comment.
In the minds of young people who then turn around and don't love their country, a huge part of ensuring we have a room like this.
full in the future is ensuring our kids and grandkids know why America is such a special place.
What our founders gifted us 250 years ago.
There's a reason we're gonna have a big old army parade on June 14th of 2025.
It's because what we celebrate in this country is a reflection of what we value.
There are a lot of vapid things to celebrate, plenty of reality shows and garbage music and
No.
Stuff on Netflix.
No, we don't celebrate those things.
How about we hold up our special operations community?
How about we recognize the Army and the Marine Corps, the United States of 250 years, the sacrifice of those men who stood on bridges 250 years ago and said, we will live free.
We have an incredible story to tell.
If we're willing to tell it, and then if we're willing to raise young men and women willing and able to raise their right hand to defend this
nation.
Oh, there you go.
Yeah.
What about freedom of assembly and freedom of speech?
I think we have a lot of freedoms.
We have a lot of holidays that celebrate the military and the actions and victories that we've had.
I don't think we need a parade to see what our military equipment
looks like.
Well, it's not just a parade.
It's, you know, the Orange Ones birthday party.
That's right.
It's a celebration of the Orange One.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Wow.
Well, I...
You know,
you get used to this.
He's going to normalize this kind of activity.
And then we'll have presidents from now on having their military parades and giant banners, right?
These huge banners hanging from office buildings.
And how is this saving us any money
by these
huge expenditures?
Yeah, what, what, whatever happened to that, right?
Yeah.
All right, let's get to something very unusual, very strange.
This is an interaction from CNN.
An African-American host, I think you're familiar with Victor Blackwell
on CNN.
African-American, and he was interviewing Tricia McLaughlin, the assistant secretary for public affairs at Homeland Security.
And they argued about the 59 ephraconers.
that were imported into this country on their way to citizenship, okay?
Let's listen to this discussion, I guess you'd call it.
All right, listen.
If I see people in distress, I don't care what color, what they look like, what anything, their size, their height, their eyes, I don't care.
But I think that from all evidence, the farmers in South Africa are being treated brutally.
And it's been reported, and nobody wants to cover it.
But they happen to be white.
And if they were black, I'd do the exact same thing.
And we treat people very well when we see there's a genocide going on.
So if it's a genocide, that's terrible.
And I happen to believe it could very well be.
So we've made a home, and we'll make a home for other people that have been treated
badly, no matter what their color.
Afrikaners are not facing genocide.
Absolutely not.
President Ramaphosa says that although the law was signed in January that would give the government the purview to take the land, no land has been taken from Afrikaners.
Also, the definition of genocide is aimed at extermination, right?
And so although there is violence in South Africa,
There's violence against black South Africans, too.
So when the president says that there is genocide, where is the evidence?
Can
we take a pause and recognize the fact that you are defending race-based discrimination?
I'm
not defending race-based discrimination in any way.
The president uses the term genocide.
There is no genocide in South Africa.
And frankly, it does a disservice to people in countries around the world who are facing genocide in the Congo, in Sudan, those who faced it in Rwanda.
and Bosnia and Cambodia, it does not exist.
We should probably just start with that truth.
It is quite frankly disturbing to me that members of the media, including people who are on this very network, are trying to whitewash the facts
and
whitewash the
fact
that these individuals have faced discrimination, racial violence, the seizure of their land based on nothing but their skin color alone.
You clearly are not going to acknowledge there's no genocide in South Africa.
What about the genocide in the Congo?
You have a specific number on asylum.
How many of those are from the Congo from the Sudan?
I'm happy to come back next week and give you, lay out all the single facts, and you seem to want to whitewash
the
fact that these...
South Africaners are facing persecution and I can't understand why and I think a lot of Americans can't understand why and it's left to believe that it's because of the color of their skin, Victor.
So you suggest that I am the one here who is focused on color of skin when the president has let in Africaners specifically and I'm asking how many of those who are actually facing genocide who are being let in under some expedited path that the president has created for Africaners?
how many times I have to repeat this fact, 8,669 individuals have, if you'll let me speak,
have faith's persecution are given
asylum.
I'm exactly answering the question.
We
are letting those in who are facing persecution, Victor.
I look for
those numbers.
All right.
Not
genocide, but persecution at this point.
Do they, do they seek out people with really horrible voices to be representative of this administration?
Wow.
Yeah,
I know.
That's just irritating as hell.
But anyway, I think it's fascinating that, you know, here we have an African-American CNN host being accused of whitewashing history.
My head explodes, just trying to imagine this.
Can we go to, do
we have time
for Joe right now?
Yeah, let's go to her.
All right, let's try.
Joe is called us.
Hi, Joe.
Good morning, Joe.
Welcome.
Yeah, great show as always.
I just
wanted
to return to the issue of this military parade that Pete Hegseth was talking about and how we should honor those who raised their hand and joined the military.
I think one of my favorite quotes from the first Trump administration was from his son, Donald Trump Jr.
And note that
There's no one in the Trump family that's ever raised their hand to serve in the military.
Ever.
And in his book, he talked about it was one of my favorite moments from a puke inducing, of course, but one of my favorite moments from the first Trump administration.
John Jr.
said in his book, they drove past Arlington Cemetery.
It really nearly brought the tears up in his eyes because he thought of the sacrifices his family has made.
Oh my
God.
Yes,
but
a
golden moment.
Oh,
thanks,
Joe.
Joe, thank you for that
call.
Coming up on... Just
amazing,
isn't it?
Yeah.
We've
got more idiotic
accuracy
coming up.
Right around the corner, and it's a rainy day.
We'll talk to Brittany Merlot at about a half hour.
How much rain are we gonna get?
It's all coming up on John and Gordy in the
morning.
This here's the Trumper Duck.
You got a copy on me, Pigset?
Come on.
Uh, yeah, 10-4 Pigset, for sure, for sure.
By golly, this channel is secure.
Clean to Yemen, come on.
Yeah, it's a big 10-4 there, Pigset.
Yeah, we definitely got no journalists on this channel, good buddy.
MercySync's alive.
Looks like we got us a neoconvoy.
It was before our charge on the Ides of March on our iPhones attention hogs hung over Pete with an uncleared app and little Marco that's Trump's lap dog.
We was heading to war with the hoodies now, not them, not the blowfish kind.
I said pick Seth, this here's the Trump product and we're about to be asked to
resign.
Wow, that's
great.
It's perfect, man.
It writes itself, doesn't it?
It does.
WMDX, Johnny Gordy, this is 92.7, or on your Civic Media app.
Check it out there.
And also, by the way, text us that way,
or just give us a call.
653 you can call us at 608-879-8255 rain showers.
Through the day a little bit breezy.
Temperatures just staying in the 40s.
John
L. Middleton suggests Kurt Vonnegut's novel piano player.
Yeah.
It's a great take on a world without labor.
hilarious and frightening.
Thanks, John.
That's for, of course, Matt out in Middleton as well.
Who is worried that the robots will take over?
Who doesn't think of Terminator when we're talking about the robots, right?
Right.
Yeah.
Wow.
Yeah.
All right.
Well, that's an image
that you can't get out of my head.
This portion of the show being brought to you by Virlo Mattress of Madison.
One thing remains constant since they opened up in 1958.
They are still direct to consumer providing superior products at unbeatable prices.
Check out their locations in Madison on the east side or the west side or go to Virlo.com.
That's Virlo.
dot com.
All right, now let's get to our local representative, and that is Derek Van Orden.
Oh,
does
he want
to, he wants to cut the VA.
Oh man, do you think he's going to be very popular with the Republicans?
Well, let's check this out.
This is called 137.
Here's what happened.
Mr. Secretary, I had to, my crack graphics team draw this up so I can explain
to some
people what's going on.
Just the line.
That's the whole VA.
Pencil drawing.
The
problem with the VA.
Yeah.
Okay.
This is the increase in bureaucrats.
These are the doctors.
It's almost a flat line.
And then we have an increase with the veterans because of the PAC Act, right?
So when we are going to cut the VA, and I hope you do, sir, this is where you need to make the cut, right there in this line, right there, sir.
If Mr. Secretary,
if you cut this,
then this line with the doctors and stuff that people are actually touching our veterans and providing care can go like this, right?
And then we can match the increase with vets.
So, Mr. Secretary, I'm incredibly happy and looking forward to working with you and your administration.
And if there's anything, just if you have a top-line item that we can do from the congressional side, power the personnel and that stuff,
if you can, you know,
rattle off one or two and it'd be great, we'll
write
these down and we'll take it for action.
Mr.
Secretary?
It's kind of an action plan, doesn't it?
Why don't you just give him a little tip on how to change a tire up in front of the building?
Which
is something
he did with a whole bunch of representatives where the car almost fell off the jacks.
That was a moment.
The thing is, they just think indiscriminately to go after the administrative staff, even though the number of veterans has increased dramatically.
they act like the administration doesn't matter that it automatically happens they get their benefits they get their applications and and and updates automatically just some magical thing under the building I don't
know but
you know you need the administrative staff if you have more veterans you need more administrative staff to handle the load right I but he just wants indiscriminately cut
The administrative staff and that's what doge did and that's why it was so bad and we're gonna feel the effects of that We're already feeling the effects of that
so and then there's more and more veterans from from the Gulf War and from you still from Vietnam that need you know as they age you get they need more help
Exactly.
They need more
help, and there are more of them out there that need help.
And now's not the time to cut staff.
How does he think?
Yeah, what is he saying?
A lot of people, a lot of the Republicans, a lot of the Megas don't want to cut anything from the VA.
Right.
They want to throw money at it.
Yes.
But again, it's this idea that because of the administrative...
Side of it is is so I guess top-heavy they say I they don't understand how any of this works I mean just go to any corporation They have a lot of administrative staff there.
You don't can start walking in Well, maybe maybe Trump is starting to do that too telling businesses how to run their operations like Walmart, you know, you know eat those tariffs
How many bankruptcies has he been through?
How would he have any business?
You know knowledge
to help Walmart.
Well, you know,
bankrupt himself six or seven times.
I asked my mega
friend in Milwaukee these same questions.
And I just said, you know, you're just a cultist.
And the surprising answer was yes, I am.
Yes, I am.
Oh, OK.
We got a text here, you guys, from Doug.
Oh, Doug has some advice for you guys.
John, Gordy, one word, a manosphere.
Your careers are being held back due to your lack of embracing the manosphere, the broscape, the testosterone-propelled power of online viral.
To reverse this, how about Sage paying $12,000 for John and Gordy to be roadies for one day with Gene Simmons of Kiss?
There you
go.
Join the broscape and embrace the manosphere.
Embrace the manosphere.
OK.
I think that's right.
We're just, well.
We haven't embraced a hemisphere enough, you know, toxic masculinity.
You know, we haven't heard from Doug for a while.
We were just talking about it.
Well, he was like
hitchhiking
around in Mexico or something for a while, wasn't
he?
Right?
But now he's all about this manosphere.
We've got to join up with Joe Rogan, guys.
See what's going on on that side of the world.
OK, it is $6.59.
I like getting $12,000 more from Sage, though.
OK, well, we'll work on that.
Stay with us.
We'll check in with Brittany Merlot in just a little while and a whole lot
more.
These are the times that try men's souls.
In the course of our nation's history, the people have rallied bravely whenever the rights of men have been threatened.
Today, a new crisis has arisen.
Citizens, hear me out.
This could happen to you.
People think I'm controversial, but the truth is, I'm a nice guy.
You know what I am?
In the field of live entertainment, oh my god!
I don't know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the Russians and the crime in the street.
All I know is that first, you've got to get mad.
Let me tell
you something you lowlife lion for flush and sack of shit.
I will tell you this is going to be something special.
Oh, yeah.
Just to show about nothing.
Hell, I like you.
You can come over to my
house and fuck my sister.
What is this fucking ponderous, man?
Ponderous
fucking ponderous.
It gets that one.
After a while anyway, WMDX, John and Gordy in the morning as usual on a rainy, rainy morning this time around.
Very
soggy out there.
It's really wet and rainy and breezy.
It is.
It's gonna
be miserable
today.
It's
the
worst
day possible.
I woke up.
Everybody please stay home.
Charlie Shortino, first words, first word was on, you know, the first word on the graphic is dreary.
Okay, Charlie.
Why does he keep dressing like a mortician?
You know, ever since you pointed that out.
I know, I know.
That's bad news.
Okay, so temperatures will stay in the 40s today.
We'll check in with Brittany Merlot shortly.
I thought today was going to be, what's happening here?
We're gonna do banana bread, the recipe taste testing thing.
Is that today or is it?
I don't know.
I thought we changed it to Friday.
I sure hope it is today.
Well, you brought in some banana bread,
but,
John, you missed the memo
on
this.
I'm not bringing
in banana bread.
You know, I thought I was doing something nice, just occasionally bringing in baked goods for the people here at the station.
Right.
Catherine had to go out of her way to blow it out of proportion and now she wants to do a banana bread competition.
Well, I thought
we
but didn't we just change it yesterday
to Friday?
We have changed the day that we agreed upon to bring in these different banana breads, but three times we have changed it
now.
Well, I'm glad we've changed it.
But she changed it back to today.
Why would she do
that?
I don't know why she knows that today we were going to talk about the big bad bill, right?
We're going to dissect the big bad bill.
All right, let's do that.
And now she's, you know, scheduled for today.
Do we have time for the big bad bill?
No.
Well, yes,
we do.
The big bad
bill?
Absolutely.
The big bad
bill,
yeah.
Not the
big beautiful
bill, it's the big bad bill.
No, it's not a beautiful bill at all.
What are you talking about?
Trump's
going to Congress today to talk about the big beautiful bill
and use a mind.
You don't know that, that's what they call it.
Is that,
is this his tax cut thing or what are you talking about?
It's the reconciliation bill.
It's the fund government.
It's the
fund the tax cuts.
It's everything.
It's everything's in this thing.
And we're going to dissect it today, but now we've got the damn banana bread complex going.
Okay, let's hold on to the banana bread later today.
Let's skip that.
We've got a couple of phone calls here.
All right, let's
go to Dick right away.
Thanks for
calling.
Dick, good morning.
What do you
got?
Well, to that beautiful two hour smoke blowing.
from the puppeteer to the puppet yesterday.
Nothing came of it.
This was the thing he was gonna end day one, if you remember.
Then he also remember when he said all of this stuff is just, you know, common sense.
It's easy to do this.
Now yesterday, he says that this is really complex.
Yeah, really.
Yeah.
Now you finally come to that conclusion.
But the best part of the whole meeting
is the fact that he honestly thinks he brokered something with Putin.
Yeah, Putin basically told him this will end on my terms.
Yep.
And that's all there is to it.
That's right.
That's right.
He's so delusional.
He thinks he really got something yesterday.
And he got a great big nothing burger like he always does.
But it just amazes me how media people are treating this to that it's a joke.
It's a total joke.
And he's a Joe.
Yeah, it's almost shocking to watch this unroll because now we're seeing just how empty and vacuous he is.
He has no control over any of these individuals.
He's just smoking the cult.
That's all he's doing right now.
Yeah, I'm doing a good job of that, but that's the only thing
he's
doing.
My goodness.
And then, you know, all of these issues across the board that he has no clue on, he just, you know,
Have you seen the latest AI generated thing with him doing a journey song?
Yes.
Wonderful.
Yeah.
That is just so outrageous.
I guess there's a whole bunch of other clips in there too.
That is just a great look into those awful.
My God.
And he loves that stuff.
He reposts it.
Yeah.
It's nice.
We have a president that doesn't have much, you know, really do other than, you know, comment on Bruce Springsteen.
Yeah.
And.
Do this type of
thing.
Yeah,
nothing really talks quite chill to do.
That's it.
All right, dick.
Thank
you for
that
call.
Thank
you.
Yeah.
Our number is 608-879-8255.
If you'd like to chime
in.
We had another call on the line.
Catherine called in probably to complain about the banana bread, but she hung up.
She won't ever stay on the line to actually
tell us.
That's okay.
We're preempting the banana bread competition.
We got other stories to cover here.
I don't know.
Let's get into the big beautiful bill.
Okay, let's get into the big bad.
All right.
The bad beautiful bill.
Yes.
Okay.
It's just it's the big bad bill.
That's that's what I'm calling it.
The BBB three B's.
All right.
Here it is.
They've got deep cuts to Medicaid and food stamps.
They're cutting at least $880 billion from that program.
Wow.
While many adults on Medicaid have jobs.
They may have trouble meeting the reporting requirements, obtaining exemptions, or landing enough hours each month to maintain their eligibility.
The legislation would curtail state's ability to receive work requirement waivers in difficult economic times.
You know, like the COVID pandemic, right?
If we had not, like,
waived all of the requirements during COVID, no one would be getting pay.
How would you put in 80 hours a month during COVID?
That's one of the requirements to get Medicaid, okay?
So you wouldn't be able to do it.
So during a pandemic, the one we had gone through, and not having any way to get money or pay,
or be required and then losing your healthcare during COVID.
See, this is so insane.
This is so cruel.
This is not American, the way I see it anyway.
And it's just outrageous.
I'm telling you, they really have put together a bill here that is just crazy stuff.
And by the way, they're limiting this...
Well, anyway, let's get to some of this.
The price tag is a little more than $3.8 trillion over 10 years.
And most of that is going to be added to the national debt.
New systems are going to be put in place to discourage immigration in the US.
What are they going to do?
They're going to charge money for people who want to immigrate here or take asylum.
Okay, they're gonna have to pay a fee like $1,000 or $500 whatever
it is immigrants are gonna
have any kind of money at
all
No, they don't have a home.
They have a suitcase maybe at at best or a bag full of goods.
Yeah
Anyway,
yeah New fees targeting electric cars, you know how they have those fees here in Wisconsin
you have to
pay a higher price if you have a EV or a hybrid right, but now they're gonna
get in on the take here.
They're gonna charge $250 for an EV and $100 for a hybrid vehicle.
And get this.
There's a proposal to levy a $20 annual tax on gas vehicles, right?
I mean, that sounds fair enough, but the Republicans objected to that, so they threw that out.
So no longer is there a $20 annual tax on gas vehicles, because we want more of those.
Right?
It's like they're trying the hardest in the world to destroy the Earth's atmosphere.
Or to kill us anyway.
By the way, they're making it easier to yank the tax-exempt status of non-profits the Trump administration deems as supporting terrorism.
So if there's any group...
That is supporting the woke ideology.
They're gonna take the tax exempt status away from them It's gonna end consumer tax credits helping lower the cost of electric vehicles and buying energy Efficient appliances rooftop solar or insulation they're gonna take all that stuff away.
I wanted to put rooftop solar right on a garage I wanted to remember that last year you're gonna do that Yeah, but because Trump was elected I put off
buying the garage.
I mean, you know, I need all the money I can have at this point.
Okay.
And I was going to put the solar on that,
but I was
going to get rid of the tax credits for solar and electric vehicles, all that stuff.
And they're going to phase out tax credits that businesses use for electricity generation like wind and solar.
They're going to pivot away and this is
pretty devastating away from the federal student loan programs.
Boy, here we go.
This is all in the big beautiful bill.
This is in that.
That's what he calls it.
Yeah, right.
This is great.
That's why I call it the big bad bill.
Yeah, that's all.
They're going to make changes to the Affordable Care Act, uh-oh, enrollment process.
They're including shortening the open enrollment period.
Can you believe that?
It's already short enough.
It's like 15 days or whatever it is to sign up for healthcare.
Why do they want to shorten that?
I don't even know why they have any kind of enrollment period at all.
Just have people enroll when they can, right?
and eliminate the ability of low-income Americans to sign up year-round.
The package could result in 8.6 million people being uninsured by 2034.
Mega accounts for kids.
Get this.
This is the worst.
This is the most egregious part of this whole thing.
Stand by for this one.
Create a new money account for growth and advancement.
The acronym for that is MEGA.
We're calling it MEGA Kids.
The federal government would provide a one-time $1,000 credit to the accounts of children born from 2025 through 2028.
who are U.S.
citizens at birth, it would only be in effect from 2025 through 2028, while Trump is president.
After that, forget it.
Of course, this is going to be his reelection campaign.
You want to extend these things?
The mega kids?
You want your mega kids?
extend my presidency.
No taxes on tips and overtime, but that's only in effect from 2025 to 2028.
Citizens, senior citizens were to receive a $4,000 increase in their standard deduction from 2025 through 2028.
Then they expire.
Some universities currently pay 1.4% tax on their net investment income from their endowments.
The bill calls for raising that rate.
to as high as 21% from 1.4% to 21%.
Colleges are gonna just love this stuff.
And that's just one look.
That's
just part of
it.
That's, I only had time for putting that much
together.
That's a full patient.
Very God.
And that's in the big
bad bill.
That's in
the big bad bill
that you're
trying to pass here.
He's
going
to Congress today.
He's gonna tell everybody what's in that bill.
He doesn't know.
He has no
idea what's in it.
That's
why they call it a beautiful bill.
This is beauty.
This portion of John and Gordy in the morning is brought to you by the Madison Hearing Aid Center.
They're at 4706 Cottage Grove Road.
I've got my appointment today.
I'll tell you how it goes tomorrow.
Again, they... It's not very painful.
They put needles in your ears.
No, they don't do
anything.
They
have hearing aids there.
They're not going to do
anything.
Okay.
Fast and flexible appointments.
Convenience over complexity.
They help people change their lives.
Their number one goal isn't just selling hearing aids.
It's improving the quality of life through better hearing.
Check them out.
MadisonHearingAidCenter.com.
They have a hearing test right online.
Check it out for yourself.
MadisonHearingAidCenter.com.
All right, when we come back, we'll check in with our WMDX chief meteorologist, Brittany Merlot, to tell us how much rain we're going to get here today.
Coming right back.
Can't
wait.
Yep.
What's
new with the weather?
What's new?
What's with the temperature
now?
What's
the
law?
We do a little dance to that, don't we?
Yeah,
we do.
92.7 WMDX.
A little Gene Kelly out in the street this morning.
Yeah, singing in the rain.
Yeah.
We got a lot of rain out there this morning, Brittany Merleau.
What do you know?
Well, you got rain up there in Wausau?
You know, no, it's actually sunny when I woke up this morning now the clouds are starting to roll in So we're gonna get what you are too, but just a little bit more delayed You're gonna get the worst of it though.
Yeah,
I feel like to that song we should be dancing with umbrellas
Yes, it's really yeah, it's coming down at a pretty good clip right now We might get some a little bit of flash flooding here and there
That's what I was thinking because your area is actually in a marginal risk for some extreme rain.
We're looking at one to two inches throughout just today possibly.
So flooding is definitely a concern out there.
It's also going to be windy, right?
You're feeling those gusts right now at about 30 miles per hour out of the east.
They're gonna hit about 40 as we go through this afternoon.
So rain, wind.
And wind chills on top of temperatures
at
about 20 degrees cooler.
Wind
chills.
And our
average highs.
Yeah, yeah.
So we
got
rid of the wind chills.
No,
no, we kept them alive, remember?
We weren't going to let the weather service tell us what to do.
Nope.
So rain today, rain tonight too.
And what about tomorrow?
We're still looking at chances of on and off light rain, spotty drizzle, still lingering through tomorrow, still staying breezy.
Winds, of course, still pushing around 20, 30 miles per hour and highs still in the low fifties.
So the chance of showers ends by Thursday midday.
It's gone.
We'll see the sunshine coming back out.
We'll hit about 60 degrees on Thursday.
Tons of sunshine for Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
But then Monday, still sun in the forecast, but we are looking at more chances for scattered showers and maybe a thunderstorm popping up in the afternoon on Memorial Day.
Okay, so most of Memorial Day weekend will be okay, but then Monday maybe, maybe some more showers and a couple of pop-up thunderstorms.
Yeah, okay.
You have plans for the- Yes, we're gonna get
the crummy weather out of the way
now.
Okay.
Do I have any plans for Memorial
Day?
Yeah, that's what I was about to ask you, yes.
I just got the day off, so I'm trying to make all my plans right now, but absolutely.
I'm gonna be escaping somewhere in a tent, exploring something and outside the entire time.
How about you guys?
I don't know, John.
John, do you have any plans?
Memorial Day picnic for you and the neighbors?
Oh, you know I always celebrate the holidays.
John hasn't talked to his neighbors in 17 years.
They avoid him like the plague.
Well, they avoid me
like the plague.
So
I'm
doing it back to them.
Okay.
All right.
Very good.
Well, we'll just try to dodge the raindrops
here for the next couple of
days.
All right.
Yeah, stay dry, guys.
I'll catch you later.
Have a great day.
Thanks a lot.
Our chief meteorologist,
Brittany Merleau.
Yeah.
You know, a while back in April, we were talking about Doge, trying to change up social security
a
little bit, okay?
That was one of the things that they set out to do.
And I have a few cuts here from back in April.
And this is Wired Magazine taking a look at it along with Mark Cuban.
All right, why don't we check out?
This is cut 67.
from April.
Okay.
Do we have
that?
You gotta give me a second, John.
April's a long time
ago.
I know that.
I'm just giving you a few moments here.
McKenna Kelly, senior writer at Wired, joined CBS America Decides to explain just what's going on at the Social Security Administration.
And these changes went into effect.
So let's find out what happened here.
Go ahead.
Five years was what the expectation is.
And doge, what has been stressed in my sources who I talked to for this, they want it done in a matter of weeks or months.
And what could happen if there is some glitch in that new source code?
The concern, the main concern with doing this translation, this modernization, is that you're not going to catch all of those edge cases.
Beneficiaries will be overpaid or underpaid, but in some circumstances they could not be paid at all, and the administration wouldn't have any idea if it happened.
And McKenna, you mentioned this effort in 2017 that was derailed by COVID.
Does the initial work product or orientation of that 2017 plan still exist?
And it would seem to me as a novice, I don't know very much about this, that would be a place for the Doge team to begin.
Are they even paying any attention to that?
Not from the people that I'm speaking to, it doesn't sound like it.
If anything, they are getting rid of a lot of the staff with this institutional knowledge on how to run these systems who know this language.
Because like I said, this is a very old.
language, right?
Kids who are coming out of engineering school right now, it's something that they're not even learning.
And so a lot of these folks are getting deferred resignations, like we've heard the fork in the road email, and also these early retirement packages.
And it's those folks, right?
All right.
So we know that they've made some source code changes and they're going to a new system.
And a lot of people could be definitely affected by it.
Let's go to cut 69 now.
And this is Mark Cuban and his input on this.
Mark Cuban calls out the government for cutting phone support and closing social security offices as a financial trap for seniors.
Under a new federal overhaul, seniors can no longer call for help.
Many in-person locations are being shut down.
To access their benefits, they're now expected to go online, whether they can or not.
Millions of elderly Americans don't own smartphones, don't use the internet, and don't have transportation to get to another office.
Mark Cuban says this isn't modernization, it's targeted exclusion.
The benefits system stays intact on paper, but the people it's supposed to serve are effectively being locked out.
This isn't about efficiency, it's about making access so difficult, people quietly fall through the cracks.
Social security is being digitally walled off from the very people it was built to support.
Cuban calls it horrific, and for millions of seniors, that's not an exaggeration.
Yeah,
it's
very dramatic.
Yeah, I know
you're very dramatic stuff there, huh?
But guess this but
he was social security
officials have pulled the plug on the ineffective douche programs And they put in place.
Yes.
Well,
huh?
Who could have
predicted?
Okay
It is seven twenty nine coming up next.
The Midwest rain and report.
Yes.
Food and farm about your table from Pam Yonkey and her crew will be back with more of John and Gordy in the morning for this rainy Tuesday.
92.7.
It's John and Gordy, John Peterson, Gordy Young in the morning with you.
And great song.
Haven't heard that in ages.
I
know.
Huey Lewis in the news.
Yeah.
I'm surprised this isn't another one that you're absolutely sick of from your years in rock radio.
Huey had a lot of great hits,
but they did get kind of overplayed there for a while.
It was a big deal on MTV at the time.
There were a lot of videos out there.
Oh yeah.
at that point.
We're playing that because we're going to get to a juncture cut in just a few moments here on drug pricing on the Daily Show.
It is 7 36.
We've got rain showers.
You can expect that through the day.
So grab that umbrella and just, you know, have it handy.
OK, this portion of the show being brought to you by Verlo mattress of Madison.
One thing that remains a constant since they opened their doors way back in 1958.
They are still direct to consumer provide.

It pops up on your screen, I believe.
It pops up on the
screen, yes.
And then you just
get irritated, you get a little mad, and then you get irritated.
Why would you get irritated?
You
just have
to fill
it out once.
You know, I suggest all the new employees, like Dom here, get on the WMDX website.
Dom, you go to WMDXradio.com, okay?
Okay, okay.
It's a beautiful website, by the way.
Thank
you.
Beautiful
website.
Yeah, John and I put it together.
Yeah,
we really worked hard on that.
Absolutely.
Catherine had a little something to
do with it, but she keeps it updated and keeps tinkering with it, but you know, it's confusing to me.
I'm not quite sure what she's up to.
So just go to the
wmdxradio.com.
And then you'll see the pop up there.
And that's how you sign up for the newsletter.
The newsletter comes out every Thursday.
You
got that?
I got that.
I'm ready to get my notes right now.
OK.
All right.
I'm taking a lot of notes here.
The mixing, you know, we'll be talking about the banana bread competition.
Oh, don't be.
Is it today?
Is it tomorrow?
What is it?
Stop it.
Stop it.
I want to, you know, I came up with another note here that I discovered on Social Security.
OK.
They did they pulled a plug on the ineffective Doge program that they put in place.
OK.
And I just want to bring this up.
when you put people in charge of something they have no expertise in, then they shouldn't be doing anything with it.
It's not just Social Security, they have done this to every one of the administrative departments, okay?
So there's
this total,
it's total incompetence, they've screwed everything up.
You know, when they did this thing with Social Security, they had a plan involving a three-day hold on all phone calls that came in on claims
And the staffers then had to check out the background of the people who called, okay, said, you know, weed out fraud.
And they only identified a couple of potential fraud cases, like two maybe, while causing significant delays in claiming processes.
So they got rid of this stupid plan that they put in place.
Okay, I look you know, I just found that note.
I just wanted to pass it along to you because I love getting on the soapbox I am not angry.
This is not angry Johnny.
I am just fed up to here and damn it.
I am
I am mad.
I know you're mad.
Just
calm.
Remember your
blood pressure.
You've
been taking your meds.
Come on, settle down.
So
Let's get to drug prices.
You know, the drug prices are coming down from Medicare.
Okay, not a lot of people are on Medicare at this point yet, but if you are, this is good news for those on Medicare.
Prices are coming down.
And John Stewart took a look at this on The Daily Show.
Let's check it out.
So in the dizzying run up to this big announcement of the possible suspension of habeas corpus or maybe the appointment of another Fox News star or the naked bribery of our highest elected officials, none of those were Trump's big announcement.
President Trump just announced that prescription drug and pharmaceutical prices will be reduced by 30 to 80% almost immediately.
This appears to be the major announcement that the president has been teasing for
days.
I'm having wanted that for years.
Pharma has exploited the American consumer while we have, in turn, subsidized their whole industry with tax incentives and direct funds.
But without getting into the weeds, explain this thing that I've wanted for a very long time, like I'm incredibly dumb.
Me
too.
Drug prices will come down.
We're getting them down 60%, 70%, 80%, 90%.
But actually more than that, if you think about it in a way that mathematically.
If you think about it mathematically.
How is this going to work?
The rest of the world is going to have to pay a little bit more, and America is going to pay a lot less.
Basically, what we're doing is equalizing.
There's a new word that I came up with, which I think is probably the best word we're going to
equalize.
Europe, Eureka, Euclid.
Yeah, here it is.
Equalize.
I thought it sounded familiar.
Look, I would like to think that the tenacious pleadings of progressive leaders like Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders helped make this possible.
We are sick and tired of paying by far the highest prices in the world for prescription drugs.
I'm going to attack the prices
on commonly used drugs.
Unfortunately, it turns out
for the biggest, most important announcement in the history of this presidency, goes to someone else.
I mean, I'll tell you a story, a friend of mine who's a businessman, very, very, very top guy, most of you would have heard of him, a
highly neurotic,
brilliant businessman, seriously overweight.
Talking about himself?
That took a turn.
Anyway, I'm sure.
Public press coverage is a rough way for this guy to find out that he is saved in Trump's phone as a neurotic fat friend.
And he takes the fat, the fat shot
drug.
You know the fat shot.
And he called me up and he said, President, could I ask you a question?
I'm in London and I just paid for this damn fat drug I take.
I said, it's not working.
Yo.
Oh!
Hey, my friend, he's very successful, went to London, and when they saw him, they changed the name of Big Ben to Just Ben, because this guy's fat!
Anyway, back to life-saving drug pricing.
I just paid $88, and in New York, I paid $1,300.
What the hell is going on?
He said, so I checked, and it's the same box, made in the same plant.
by the same company.
It's the identical pill.
This is a great businessman, so, but he's not familiar with this crazy situation that we have.
Yeah, he was as stunned as he is fat, I
mean.
Oh, boy.
By the way, I don't know if anybody realized, but the fat shot somehow turned into a fat pill.
Yeah, how did that work?
In the middle of the story.
It's how you know the story is true.
So there you go.
Oh, boy.
One look at the fat shot.
It's such a flawed plan in the first place when you think about it, right?
So he wants to equalize the price of drugs around the world, right?
He's not happy enough to just control everything in the US.
Now he wants to control the rest of the world.
And here's the thing that I have with it, the problem I have with it, is that now he's asking that
All the cheap drugs around the world have to increase their prices.
And then we lower ours a little bit.
So they increase their prices and we lower ours a little bit and everybody is happy.
Well, the drug companies would be happy because now everybody's paying kind of a higher price for drugs.
But it's
equalized.
Now, we could negotiate the price of drugs instead of this master plan to control the rest of the world's drug prices.
What would it take to do that?
Now, that seems like an easier plan, something anyone could do or at least think of doing.
But instead, he's going to do this.
He's going to ask Europe and everybody else to pay higher prices for drugs.
Really?
They don't have to.
It seems like it's a problem here in the US.
So why are we dragging the rest of the world into this into this morass?
They're not going to do that.
Right.
They're not going to do
it.
Just need, you know, all we need is universal healthcare.
That's all.
That's it.
Really?
That's all we, you know, we gotta make that commitment.
That's a theme here on this program.
To do that, yeah.
If we pass something like that, the world, everybody would be happier.
This country would be happier.
No one would face medical bankruptcies, which is a real
drag.
Yeah, we were talking about social security earlier
today.
We got a text here from the Chuckster in Racine without notice and first reported in a Sunday newspaper the social security office Moved to mount moved to mount pleasant.
Let me get back
here
abruptly closed And moved west eight miles away
and
out of town to
a vacant, speculatively built commercial commerce center and a new development in the middle of nowhere, Mount Pleasant Industrial Park.
The area has not served on any bus line for Social Security recipients who don't drive.
The previous Social Security office was put up for a quick auction.
Man's doge working to F the people.
That's right.
They did that too.
That's from Chuckster and Racine.
They did that to the DMV when they required voter ID cards.
Right.
Yeah.
You could
just go to the DMV and get a car
just to vote.
You don't need a driver's
license.
Just get a card to vote.
And
so they moved the DMV out to the west side where there was no bus service.
Right.
That was a Scott Walker plan.
Incredible.
So now they're doing it to Social Security Office.
This is just ridiculous.
This is
what they do.
They're just pushing people away.
And I don't know why there is any support for this administration at all at this point.
At least now they know.
Remember my brothers at Christmas said, oh, we'll just wait and see
because I know.
Now
my brothers voted for Trump for some crazy ass reason.
But they said, well, we'll just wait and see.
I hope by now you have waited and
seen enough.
Yeah, maybe they need to get their glasses checked if they're not seeing it yet.
Exactly.
Yeah.
This can't happen.
OK.
It is 747, rain showers today.

can set you up with an appointment.
Well listen to this over 364,000 people in Canada have signed a petition calling for musks Canadian citizenship to be revoked really?
Yes, you're kidding me.
Let's see it happen.
That would be that would be fantastic, wouldn't it something?
Yeah, it's an official government position.
Is it really?
Wow hmm
Maybe that'll catch on maybe that'll
why I
wonder how many
Where's he is?
Where
is he a city?
You see he's a citizen here all over well here up there They
were gonna deport everybody with dual citizenship whatever happened at that
plan hang on we're gonna wrap things up on a Tuesday morning right after
this
Terrific if you like eating leftovers.
Leftovers.
Leftovers?
I kept the leftovers.
The leftovers!
Just some leftovers.
Leftovers for a week and a half.
Ain't those leftovers!
You know they're
leftovers.
Leftovers.
Enjoy.
Boy, it's been raining pretty hard
this morning.
Don't
panic.
Don't panic.
I don't want to panic anybody, but there's some guy named Noah out in the parking lot, and he's asking for lumber
and
nails.
And,
uh... How to
Styrofoam boat
and cut it?
Styrofoam boat's
not good enough.
You're not gonna do it.
You're not gonna be able to offload that boat to Noah.
Speaking of Noah, we got some Bible news here from Mark and Prairie to Sac.
Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark,
Mark,
Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark,
Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark, Mark
said this, so is Trump going to edit the Bible?
You know, removing parts of Matthew that said, for I was hungry and you gave me something to eat.
I was thirsty and you gave me something to eat.
I was so stranger.
You welcomed me.
I was naked and you clothed me.
I was sick and you cared for me.
I was in prison and you came to me.
So why doesn't the big
beautiful build include all of those requirements that Jesus laid out for them.
I mean, it was there for the picking.
They could have just taken up on that, right?
But they did not do that.
They opened the door for the Africaners who were probably in a Semitic white supremacists and their...
going to be citizens.
Well, Trump is
headed up to Capitol Hill today to explain the big, beautiful bill and get more support for it.
He's
going to put it all together.
There's no what's in it.
Maybe he'll bring his Trump Bible with him and point.
Wave it around,
right?
Upside down.
Upside down backwards.
You'll hold it upside down for everybody so they understand that he's read it over and over.
He's in charge.
He's read it so many times, he's reading it upside down.
Yeah, it's gonna be
quite a fun day I put Capitol Hill today.
I'm sure they're looking forward to his visit.
Okay.
And then now, you know, again.
We thought we were going to do the banana bread thing today.
It was changed to today at the last minute.
The banana bread bake off or whatever we're calling it for the best recipe.
It didn't happen.
So is it going to happen tomorrow?
Is it going to happen Thursday?
Is it going to happen Friday?
We're up in the air about it.
Nobody knows.
You brought in the banana bread.
Exactly.
And
I don't know if it's going to keep for a couple of days.
I used the last bananas I had to make
it.
No, I think it's fine.
It's fine.
Don't worry about it.
Oh, this is your way of sabotaging
isn't it?
Is there any way to cut that bread up so we could eat some of it at you?
There's no
knife.
I brought a butter knife.
No, there's nothing in there.
I should be eating it right
here on the air right now.
I'm sure yeah, you do like to smack your gums in front
of the microphone.
Leave me alone.
Lack of cutlery.
It's not like we have all these leftovers.
No one, you know, we have banana bread leftovers now.
Yeah.
We brought in two loaves, so we could at least cut up one of them and eat it today.
And then can you save the other one?
Just put it in a, you know.
Can foil sure will be okay.
I I think that this is John's plan to sabotage me He's
trying to push the date
back
so that he can be in the competition
But mine is gonna be a couple days old at that point.
I thought I I thought I made my plans perfectly clear here.
I am not participating
Help me, please.
Help me.
You know what we ought to have?
We ought to have a French toast competition.
Oh, there it.
Let's bring it real.
You're such a good French toast chef.
I am.
I'm a great French toast.
There we go.
Let's get a French toast baker.
No, I want to cook.
Baker?
What?
Hello, I can't think of it French toast kind of sewer.
I want to get to a story Everybody loves you know ripping on you lawn, so let's do that.
All right
Disappeared last few weeks.
Well in the months following the takeover a large number of companies halted Advertising on X and he is back at it again.
He's trying to defend X in the courts because
I hate
to leave
on a sour no banana bread you when
are we doing the banana bread
you are making stuff up you Gordy why it was meant to be Friday
You moved it yesterday on the Google calendar.
I moved it to yesterday to remind you that it's happening
on Friday.
You
didn't bring it in, right?
I did bring it in.
Oh my god.
Why would
you put it on the
calendar for tomorrow if you meant Friday to make the
bread?
I reminded myself to go get the bananas.
They are curly.
In my bag, getting brown.
Well, I hope the Wisconsin State Journal and the Capitol Times are on this story.
God, just good God.
Better story than whatever you had.
Oh, God.
Oh, oh.
I'll tell you what.
Where are you going?
These leftovers are going to have to wait till tomorrow.
I've
got another minute left here now.
Do
we?
Yeah.
Do we actually have a minute?
All right.
OK, Alon is in the court.
Forget it.
What?
What?
Oh, OK.
So we should have a French toast competition.
Yeah, I'm good on French toast, too.
Yeah.
All right, we'll work on that.
All right.
Anyway,
much good.
No, we
don't have time, John.
Sorry.
Tomorrow, Mike McCable will join us.
And he's got a new column on Substack, so we'll be discussing that.
OK.
Yeah?
Or you think so?
Or are we going to talk about banning bread all day?
OK.
All right.
All right.
Can you quickly do your story?
No.
30 seconds or less?
Can I?
Yeah.
Yeah, I can.
We got about a minute.
All right.
So anyway, Musk is in court because a lot of advertisers dropped out.
Lego, Shell, Nestle, just to name a few.
Musk responded with the lawsuit against these clients alleging that they had illegally boycotted his platforms.
How legal is that?
No
idea
what you're talking about.
They
don't want to advertise.
They don't want to advertise.
If they don't want to advertise, if they want to leave X, it's just going to bail out.
They can
do
that.
OK.
OK,
good.
He's in court trying to defend himself.
All right.
Thank goodness.
OK.
Stephanie Miller's coming up next.
We hope you'll join us tomorrow, regardless of what you heard today.
We'll be back in 22
hours.
Have a great day.
Stephanie Miller's next.
So long.
All right, thanks a lot.
Yeah, thank you.
I don't know.
I
don't know.
A very rainy morning.
Huge storms rolling through.
Still rolling through, I believe.
I'm just pulling up the radar right now as we speak.
All day.
It's going to be an all day rain.
Yeah.
Well, I'm going to just see my storm tracking weather forecast that I'm so famous for.
Let's see, well yeah, yeah, I don't know.
It's mainly rain, I don't
Yeah,
is it?
Gordy, do you have any compilations of like best moments from over the, over your course of your years as a weatherman?
Being a TV weatherman?
Yeah, I've got a few.
Any that come to mind of any like disasters that happened on the
You

Another time I was doing, you know, we had the Olympics, NBC's had the Olympics forever, so we were doing Olympic coverage and I was doing, I had, I fashioned a torch.
I was doing, I was pointing at the weather maps with the torch.
Oh, that's nice.
No, Sam's not even paying attention.
So I was,
And we had lighter fluid inside this torch-like device.
And it was lit.
And I
And the bit was the floor director was going to douse it with water at the end of the forecast.
Now we're going to put out the torch.
He threw the water.
The flame came out of the torch and hit me right at the microphone on my phone.
on my lapel, destroyed the microphone, could have burned me really
It pushed the flame off the torch onto your shirt.
Splashed onto my jacket.
That's why you don't pour water on a grease fire.
Well, yeah, yeah.
But it was a great bit.
Did it show your panicked look?
Oh, yeah.
There must have been a panicked look.
Yeah, I've got that on tape somewhere to dig that out.
It just
it
I sure don't think so, John.

Yeah, you want the bar dice?
Sure.
Let's hear the bar dice.
Definitely use the bar dice.
Shake them
Die.
You can't have one die that says 44.
Well, no, 40.
There's two fours.
Right.
Right.
about.
No, dice is plural.
Oh, it is?
Yeah.
A die is just one.
Why are we arguing over this?
Let's get to the National Day calendar.
That's about time.
Going down.
All right.
Going down
Lorraine.
I was gonna say it's too early for picking strawberries, but I might be wrong I would have picked that one.
I'm still going with it's not strawberry.
Yeah,
Exactly.
One
What did you even remember the list?
I did not He's taking after me just like I taught him.
Way to go Tom
You ever buy from, or rent from Netflix back when they were still a mail-order DVD service?
I think it was really recently that they stopped doing that service.
You could mail order a DVD from Netflix up until like...
two years ago or something.
No, really?
Stream.
Let's Google it.
Good thing we have this magical

John, by the way, September of 2023.

Last time you could mail over a DVD from Netflix.

Oh gosh, it's so dusty.
Go ahead.
You got to teach Dominic about this.
Do you even know what's about to happen?
Oh, don't.
Oh, dear God.
Stand back, Dominic.
Oh, cloth.

There's gotta be something wrong.
I know.
He's playing a prank

Well, we're going way back.
Today in 1774, parliament, British parliament, they passed the intolerable acts.
You think they were very tolerable?
No tolerable what no no they were not they were intolerable intolerable it was a series of five acts of parliament The ones that everyone remembers they closed the port of Boston What are you pointing at?

John's in his own world here.
He doesn't care about history.

I can't get his attention.
No, I saw your
I realized what you were doing.
You have to give him the special John and Gordy hand sign.
Yes, the hand signal.
Oh, ow.
OK, go ahead,
Finish off the hand sign.
Yeah, this is
ahead.
They close the port of Boston.
That's kind of a big deal.
This is in response, mostly, to the Boston Tea Party.
Britain's way of getting back at Massachusetts.
They revoked Massachusetts colonial charter.
They just kind of made it not a colony anymore for a while, which is a big deal.
And one of them also was the quartering act, which made colonists like you could be forced to house British soldiers in your house, which is not.
Not great.
No, that's not a good thing.
That's why we have the Third Amendment nowadays.
more, don't you?
I do have a few more things.

Stay with us.
You know you're so right.

One thing that remains constant since they opened their doors way back in 1958.
They are direct to consumer providing superior products at unbeatable prices.
They have two locations in Madison.
Can you guess where their locations are, John?
I believe there's one on the
Good morning guys.
But I'm just wondering what you guys think about this idea that makes no sense to me, but They say fifty trillion dollars in robotics, but when you get all the robots doing everything Where are the consumers anymore?
It's all done, right?
The capitalism as we know it.
but they're trying to sell it like it makes sense
right?
have robots to do that.
Another stage in the decline of capitalism, because the first big error I saw was when they're starting to make everything subscription and you can't own anything anymore.
They have to keep the revenue coming and no one's happy about that.
And no one seems to be happy about this robotics future either.
So do you think we're just going to devolve into two different civilizations, one that does not have the digital tech field economy and then the other one that's more hands on and can't afford to be in that one?
Well, I'm a mailman and I love it.
yeah, I work for the public sector.
So I have to put up with conservatives giving me snares all the time because they know that I get paid decent.
I have a union.
I'm represented and they can't just crush my job without a fight.
you're trying to do now, but, you know,
I think that we worried about all these things before, you know, I mean, you know, being replaced by robots.
Well, you know, way back when we had Gilligan's Island and Hillbillies and we were watching that and thought.
Everybody thought that, you know, society would decline dramatically after watching those
Well, they've got robot dogs too.
Oh, well, see,
know,
Yeah, but that robot still had feelings, so.
That's right.
of that
But first,
farm, babe.
All about food and
there.
As the 21st century began, human evolution was at a turning point, a dumbing down, until humanity was incapable of solving even its most basic problems.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought.
Just when I think you couldn't possibly be any dumber,
We can duck and cover.
There's no way to survive this, you idiot!
Idiocracy.
For the smartest guy in the world, you're pretty dumb sometimes.
That's it
that a representative is now being charged with roughing up some of the security, I believe that's the time when the mayor was also arrested.
And this was during an ICE raid?
Or was protesting an ICE raid?
They were at the ICE facility to inspect it.
And the mayor was arrested, I think now, because of the videotape, now they're charging a representative.
is really
who was killed yes
Yeah
She writes that she attacked her capital and was shot in the process.
I mean, just pay them for damages.
The protesters for locking
them up.
It was a day of
Yeah, it
know.
And the speaker's podium was a big souvenir, right?
Right.
I heard they sell those in the gift shop now.
That's
So, it's just insane.
It is.
Lawlessness that's what it's all about.
You get rewarded for it by the Trump administration, right?
Mm-hmm.
All right Now Here it is I'm not gonna do this here.
I am gonna do this here.
All right.
Trump has ordered The federal department to purchase and erect huge banners of his face on all federal buildings
at an estimated cost of $184 million.
Wow.
Trump says they'll, they, they do it in North Korea and China to show respect for their supreme leaders.
So why shouldn't we, you know, you'd almost think that's not really a quote.
Sounds like a joke.
He actually said that.
So, uh, let's, uh, let's listen to a theme song.
I know they're going to be playing there.
Oh, really?
Yeah, yeah.
It's gonna be a big, big
Okay, so why are we doing this?
You know, why are we having this huge celebration?
Well, Pete Hagseth, he had a few comments about it.
Let's listen to this.
We're not a militaristic country at all.
So showing how great our weapons are is just something that we just don't do in this country.
But anyway, here's Pete Hagseth
with his comment.
There are a lot of vapid things to celebrate, plenty of reality shows and garbage music and
Stuff on Netflix.
hold up our special operations community?
How about we recognize the Army and the Marine Corps, the United States of 250 years, the sacrifice of those men who stood on bridges 250 years ago and said, we will live free.
We have an incredible story to tell.
If we're willing to tell it, and then if we're willing to raise young men and women willing and able to raise their right hand to defend this nation.
know,
he's going to normalize this kind of activity and then we'll have presidents from now on having their military parades and giant banners, right?
These huge banners hanging from office buildings.
And how's this saving us any money?
These huge expenders.
Yeah, what what whatever happened to that, right?
All right, let's get to something very unusual, very strange.
This is an interaction from CNN.
An African-American host, I think you're familiar with Victor Blackwell
on CNN.
African-American, and he was interviewing Tricia McLaughlin, the assistant secretary for public affairs at Homeland Security.
And they argued about the 59 ephraconers.
that were imported into this country on their way to citizenship, okay?
Let's listen to this discussion, I guess you'd call it.
All right, listen.
If I see
people in distress, I don't care what color, what they look like, what anything, their size, their height, their eyes, I don't care.
So we've made a home, and we'll make a home for other people that have treated badly, no matter what their color.
Despite the president's repeated reference,
Can we just start this conversation by agreeing that Afrikaners are not facing genocide?
Absolutely not.
President Ramaphosa says that although the law was signed in January that would give the government the purview to take the land, no land has been taken from Afrikaners.
Also, the definition of genocide is aimed at extermination, right?
And so although there is violence in South Africa,
There's violence against black South Africans, too.
So when the president says that there is genocide, where is the evidence?
Can we take a pause and recognize the fact that you are defending race-based discrimination?
I'm not defending race-based discrimination in any way.
It is quite frankly disturbing to me that members of the media, including people who are on this very network, are trying to whitewash the facts.
And whitewash
the fact
that these individuals have faced discrimination, racial violence, the seizure of their land based on nothing but their skin color alone.
South Africaners are facing persecution and I can't understand why and I think a lot of Americans can't understand why and it's left to believe that it's because of the color of their skin Victor.
So you suggest that I am the one here who is focused on color of skin when the president has let in Africaners specifically and I'm asking how many of those who are actually facing genocide who are being let in under some expedited path that the president has created for Africaners?
how many times I have to repeat this fact, 8,660 individuals have, if you'll let me speak,
have faced persecution, are given
asylum.
I'm exactly answering the question.
are letting those in who are facing persecution, Victor.
Yeah,
Yeah, great show as always.
I just
to return to the issue of this military parade that Pete Hegseth was talking about and how we should honor those who raised their hand and joined the military.
I think one of my favorite quotes from the first Trump administration was from his son, Donald Trump Jr.
And note that
There's no one in the Trump family that's ever raised their hand to serve in the military ever.
In his book, he talked about it was one of my favorite moments from a puke inducing, of course, but one of my favorite moments from the first Trump administration.
John Jr.
said in his book, they drove past Arlington Cemetery.
It really nearly brought the tears up in his eyes because he thought of the sacrifices his family has made.
morning.
journalists on this channel, good buddy.
Mercy sinks alive, looks like we got us a neoconvoid.
It was before our charge on the Ides of March on our iPhones attention hogs hung over Pete with an unclear dab and little Marco that's Trump's lap dog.
We was heading to war with the hoodies now, not them, not the blowfish kind.
As that picks up, this here's the trumpet duck and we're about to be asked to
resign.
It's perfect man,
John Middleton suggests Kurt Vonnegut's novel piano player.
Yeah, it's a great take on a world without labor, hilarious and
frightening.
Thanks, John.
That's for, of course, Matt out in Middleton as well.
Who is worried that the robots will take over?
Who doesn't think of Terminator when we're talking about the robots?
Right.
Yeah.
Wow.
Yeah.
All right.
Well, that's an image that I can't get

Well, let's
Here's what happened.
Mr. Secretary, I had to, uh, my crack graphics team draw this up so I can explain to some people what's going on.
It's just the line.
That's the whole VA.
Pencil drawing.
It's the problem with
VA.
Yeah.
If you cut this, then this line with the doctors and stuff that people are actually touching our veterans and providing care can go like this.
Right?
And then we can match the increase with vets.
So, Mr. Secretary, I'm incredibly happy and looking forward to working with you and your administration.
And if there's anything, just if you have a top-line item that we can do from the congressional side, power the personnel and that stuff, if you can rattle off one or two of them, it'd be great.
We'll write these down and we'll take it for action.
Mr. Secretary?
Why isn't he just giving him a little tip on how to change a tire up in front of the building?
Which is something he did with a whole bunch of representatives where the car almost fell off the jacks.
The administrative staff and that's what doge did and that's why it was so bad and we're gonna feel the effects of that We're already feeling the effects of that
More help.
Yeah, what is he saying?
A lot of people, a lot of the Republicans, a lot of the Megas don't want to cut anything from the VA.
Right.
They want to throw money at it.
Yes.
But again, it's this idea that because of the administrative.
Yes, I am.
Oh, OK.
We got a text here, you guys, from Doug.

You know who I am?
In the field of live entertainment.
Oh my God!
I don't know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the Russians and the crime and the street.
All I know is that first, you've got to get mad.
Let me tell you something you lowlife lion, four-flush and sack of shit.
I will tell you this is going to be something special.
Oh, yeah.
Just to show about nothing.
Hell, I like
you.
You can come over to my house and f*** my sister.
What is this?
F***ing ponderous, man.
Ponderous.
F***ing
Charlie Shortino, first words, first word was on, you know, the first word on the graphic is dreary.
Okay, Charlie.
Why does he keep dressing like a mortician?
You know, ever since you pointed that out.
I know, I know.
That's bad news.
Okay, so temperatures will stay in the 40s today.
We'll check in with Brittany Merlot shortly.
I thought today was going to be, what's happening here?
We're gonna do banana bread, the recipe taste testing thing.
Is that today or is it?
I don't know.
I thought we changed it to Friday.
I
sure hope it is today.
was doing something nice, just occasionally bringing in baked goods for the people here at the station.
Right.
Catherine had
of her way to blow it out of proportion
now she wants to do a banana bread competition.
Well, I thought we
We have changed the day that we agreed upon to bring in these different banana breads, but three times we have changed it
it.
Is that, is this his tax cut thing or what are you talking about?
got?
Well, to that beautiful two-hour smoke blowing.
from the puppeteer to the puppet yesterday.
Yeah.
Putin basically told him this will end on my terms.
And that's all there is to it.
That's right.
He's so delusional.
He thinks he really got something yesterday.
And he got a great big nothing burger like he always does.
But it just amazes me how media people are treating this to that.
It's a joke.
It's a total joke.
And he's a Joe.
Yeah, I'm doing a good job of that, but that's the only thing he's doing.
My goodness.
And then, you know, all of these issues across the board that he has no clue on, he just, you know,
Have you seen the latest AI generated thing with him doing a journey song?
Yeah.
It's nice.
We have a president that doesn't have much, you know, to really do other than, you know, comment on Bruce Springsteen.
And.
Do this type of thing.
nothing really talks quite chill to do.
We had another call on the line.
Catherine called in probably to complain about the banana bread, but she hung up.
That's okay.
We're preempting the banana bread competition.
We got other stories to cover here.
I don't know.
Let's get into the big beautiful bill.
Okay, let's get into the big bad.
Beautiful.
All right.
The bad, beautiful bill.
Yes.
Okay.
No, it's just it's the big bad bill.
Okay, they're gonna have to pay a fee like a thousand dollars or five hundred dollars.
Whatever it is
immigrants are gonna have any
all
you have to
get in on the take here.
By the way, they're making it easier to yank the tax-exempt status of nonprofits the Trump administration deems as supporting terrorism.
Okay.
And I was going to put the solar on that,
but I was
And they're going to phase out tax credits that businesses use for electricity generation like wind and solar.

All right, when we come back, we'll check in with our WMDX chief meteorologist, Brittany Merlot, to tell us how much rain we're going to get here today.
Coming right back.
Can't
wait.
Yep.
started.
And
We're still looking at chances of on and off light rain, spotty drizzle, still lingering through tomorrow, still staying breezy winds, of course, still pushing around 20, 30 miles per hour and highs still in the low fifties.
So the chance of showers ends by Thursday midday.
It's gone.
We'll see the sunshine coming back out.
We'll hit about 60 degrees on Thursday.
Tons of sunshine for Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
But then Monday, still sun in the forecast, but we are looking at more chances for scattered showers and maybe a thunderstorm popping up in the afternoon on Memorial Day.
here for the next couple of
Our chief meteorologist, Brittany Merleau.
You know, a while back in April, we were talking about Doge, trying to change up social security a little bit, OK?
That was one of the things that they set out to do.
And I have a few cuts here from back in April.
And this is Wired Magazine taking a look at it along with Mark Cuban.
All right, why don't we check out?
This is cut 67.
from April.
Okay.
Do we have that?
You've got to give me a second, John.
Five years was what the expectation is.
And doge, what has been stressed in my sources, who I've talked to for this, they want it done in a matter of weeks or months.
If anything,
They are getting rid of a lot of the staff with this institutional knowledge on how to run these systems who know this language.
Because like I said, this is a very old.
language, right?
Kids who are coming out of engineering school right now, it's something that they're not even learning.
And so a lot of these folks are getting deferred resignations, like we've heard the fork in the road email, and also these early retirement packages.
those folks, right?
Mark Cuban calls out the government for cutting phone support and closing social security offices as a financial trap for seniors.
Under a new federal overhaul, seniors can no longer call for help.
Many in-person locations are being shut down.
To access their benefits, they're now expected to go online, whether they can or not.
Millions of elderly Americans don't own smartphones, don't use the internet, and don't have transportation to get to another office.
Mark Cuban says this isn't modernization, it's targeted exclusion.
The benefits system stays intact on paper, but the people it's supposed to serve
are effectively being locked out.
This isn't about efficiency.
It's about making access so difficult.
People quietly fall through the cracks.
Social security is being digitally walled off from the very people it was built to support.
Cuban calls it horrific, and for millions of seniors, that's not an exaggeration.
we go.
it's
this isn't another one that you're absolutely sick of from your years in rock radio.
at that.
We've got rain showers.
You can expect that through the day.
So grab that umbrella and just have it handy, okay?

Thank you.
website.
that.
Absolutely.
I got that.
I'm ready to hear my notes right now.
OK.
All right.
I was taking a lot of notes here.
The mixing, you know, we'll be talking about the banana bread competition.
Oh, don't film me.
Is it today?
Is it tomorrow?
What is it?
No, it's not.
Oh, stop it.
It's not just Social Security, they have done this to every one of the administrative departments,
You know, when they did this thing with Social Security, they had a plan involving a three-day hold on all phone calls that came in on claims
And the staffers then had to check out the background of the people who called, okay?
Said, you know, weed out fraud.
I am I am
Let's get to drug prices, you know.
The drug prices are coming down from Medicare, okay?
Not a lot of people are on Medicare at this point yet, but if you are, this is good news for those on Medicare.
This appears to be the major announcement that the president has been teasing for days.
I am having wanted that for years.
Pharma has exploited the American consumer while we have in turn subsidized their whole industry with tax incentives and direct funds.
But without getting into the weeds explain this thing that I've wanted for a very long time like I'm incredibly done me to drug
if you think about it mathematically How is this gonna work
equalize.
Europe, Eureka, Euclid.
Yeah, here it is.
Equalize.
I thought it sounded familiar.
Look, I would like to think that the tenacious pleadings of progressive leaders like Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders helped to make this possible.
We are sick and tired of paying by far the highest prices in the world for prescription drugs.
I'm going to attack the prices
on commonly used drugs.
Unfortunately, it turns out credit for the biggest, most important announcement in the history of this presidency goes to someone else.
neurotic,
took a turn.
Anyway, I'm sure public press coverage is a rough way for this guy to find out that he is saved in Trump's phone as a neurotic fat friend.
And he takes the fat, the fat shot.
You know the fat shot
Yo ripples that is ice cold Hey my friend he's very successful went to London when they saw them they changed the name of Big Ben to just Ben because this guy
Anyway, back to life-saving drug pricing.
What the hell is going on?
He said, so I checked and it's the same box made in the same plant.
By the same company.
It's the identical pill.
This is a great businessman So but he's not familiar with this crazy situation that we have.
Yeah, he was as stunned as he
is fat.
I mean By the way, I don't know if anybody realized but the fat shot somehow turned into a fat pill Yeah middle of the story.
It's how you know the story is true
One look at the fat shot.
It's such a flawed plan in the first place when you think about it, right?
So he wants to equalize the price of drugs around the world, right?
He's not happy enough to just control everything in the U.S.
Now he wants to control the rest of the world.
And here's the thing that I have with the problem I have with it is that now he's asking that
All the cheap drugs around the world have to increase their prices.
And then we lower ours a little bit.
So they increase their prices and we lower ours a little bit.
And everybody is happy.
Well, the drug companies would be happy because now everybody's paying kind of a higher price for drugs.
But it's equalized.
Right.
It seems like it's a problem here in the US.
So why are we dragging the rest of the world into this into this morass?
here,
