The game's 0-0-4.

How does that look?

Looks good.

All systems are okay here.

This is NASA 1, calling 10 seconds.

Now, 10 seconds, Roger.

0, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

Looks good.

NASA 1, Roger.

BCS, arm

twitched on.

Okay, look there.

Landing

rocket

arm twitched on.

Here comes the throttle.

We've got the breakers in.

We have separation, Roger.

We are ready.

I've got a blowout.

Day 1-3.

Pager 2-6-0.

Mages out again.

A man barely alive.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild him.

We have the technology.

We have the capability to make the world's first bionic

man.

We'll be that man.

Better than he was before.

Better.

Stronger.

I knew it when I hired him as weather man.

There was just something about the way he handled his pointer Now

here they are live from our studios on State Street in Madison, Wisconsin John Peterson and Gordie

young The team is back back in the saddle Wow, it was a trying time without you here.

Oh

Yeah, we almost didn't make it.

They were thinking of shutting this down.

Well, you were on the

air.

I

heard a few

minutes here and there.

We had a few things to talk about.

As usual, and boy, do we have stuff today on the Stumpster Fire Friday.

I know.

I know.

Wow.

Lots of stuff.

We do.

We do.

And it's kind of rainy now.

It didn't rain on my way in, but we got showers now.

Yeah, it's definitely

raining now.

Had rain on the windshield, but there really wasn't any wet spots in my yard or in my driveway or something.

What happened here?

It just rained on my car.

But yeah, it's starting to rain again, and it's going to do this, I think, all day long.

Well, off

and on, yes.

Uh, check the weather right away, huh?

You got the Samsung...

Well, why not?

You know, I forgot the weather forecast when you were gone.

Is that right?

You

didn't check

the weather?

Well,

most of the

time.

Okay.

Well, we did get to it eventually.

Okay, so... What's your Samsung WMDX watch saying for the early morning temperature?

Well, the official Samsung watch of the show indicates that it's 72 degrees right now.

That's not right.

72?

No, no, no.

That is not right.

The WMDX...

Okay,

I got it.

State street thermometer... I have the touch screen.

Oh, okay.

So it updated.

Now it's 48 degrees and rain.

Okay.

I have only 44.

It's going down.

It's going to be a cooler day.

Stable temperatures.

Okay.

Well, that's not exactly what the weather service is saying, but the WMDX thermometer says 47 outside our window here.

And let's see what the afternoon high would be.

Do we have the lottery ball machine ready to go?

Because it's Friday.

Oh yeah, it's Friday.

It's

Friday so we

take our

balls

out.

Get the balls going.

Yes, we do.

The first one coming up the shaft is a five.

Second one.

Here it comes.

It's a zero.

So

50 for a high.

It's going

to be warmer than my

official WMDXM sun watch weather forecast.

Yeah, OK.

Yeah, so kind of a dreary day.

Yeah.

It's it's good to see the rain though.

We've needed the rain for a long time, and I think we're getting caught up I think we're done with the burn ban now.

Yeah after the last week.

I think so I can have a rain You know I was thinking if only everyone could have their own WMDX window to Yeah, watch the weather.

I know

How could we do that?

Everybody just

look out their window,

sell a little piece of glass.

At the start that'll be part of our merch.

We should get thermometers, WMDX thermometers.

John and Gordy hand those out at the next night market, which is actually coming up in a couple of weeks.

Is it?

Yes, I think May 8th.

May 8th,

yeah.

That's the first night market right across the street from us.

We got to

get the John

and

Gordy cardboard cutouts so you guys don't have

to

actually work at this time.

Yeah, those are really good, but those blow the budget right out of the water.

Oh, it does.

They're not cheap.

I mean, you got to get a nice one that's going to last.

Yeah.

Can't get a flimsy little cardboard

thing.

Look, I offered to throw money into this thing.

Oh, did you?

I did.

Gee, I don't

remember that meeting.

No, no.

You know the

classic phrase, I know a guy who can do it cheaper?

Yeah?

Yeah.

I know a guy who can

do it cheaper.

Really?

Okay.

See

how that ends up.

Well, we will have our John and Gordy balls, our stress balls.

Yes.

So that's something to hand out.

We'll have our bottle openers.

Those are cool.

The Keychain bottle openers.

The Keychain bottle openers.

We get the cheapest swag we can find.

Dish it out there.

to all the hundreds of people walking by.

But we can tell people that it's intentional just to make it look like we're being cool.

Sure.

Yeah.

All right.

So it's 11 minutes past the hour and it's time to look.

Oh, you know what?

I haven't even dialed up the national day calendar.

Hang

on a second.

Well,

how do you like

that?

Yeah.

And I kept that thing

alive here on the program.

Yeah.

Did you?

Yes, I

did.

Oh, thank you.

Well, hang on.

You got the connection going yet?

Yes, I do.

Yes, I do.

OK.

What is today?

It's Friday.

Let's see.

What is it and is it not?

I know what it is today.

Yeah.

Oh, there's some very important days.

Is it National Historic Marker Day, National Hug of Plumber Day, National Arbor Day, National DNA Day, National Hairball Awareness Day.

National zucchini bread day, national telephone day, national shampoo your dog day.

Which one of those days does not belong, John?

Well, national shampoo your dog day doesn't exactly drive with anything.

You know, you're right.

Yeah, I just threw that one in at the last second.

Oh, okay.

Not a lot of

forethought on that.

It didn't

sound like it.

It's National Historic Marker Day.

You know those, you drive along the

highway, you see these markers.

Yeah, you drive in, you can read the marker if you're interested.

So much.

So many of the times you're driving so fast,

you know,

50, 60, 70, 80 miles an hour.

You know what

it's

there for.

You

see, oh, there's something historic, but you drive, you know, you're already three blocks past it before you think about it.

Yeah.

I wonder what that was.

It makes the state look real important.

Right.

Well, this is a day for national historic markers.

I

don't know.

I guess it's up to the general public to keep these markers really cleaned off according to.

At least that's the way they make it look on this picture.

That doesn't sound right.

Historic markers all across the nation provide a glimpse into the past and preserve history for future generations.

On the last Friday in April of each year, it invites volunteers and communities to come together to maintain their markers.

You gotta maintain those markers.

Clean them off, brush them off, sweep them off.

Good gosh.

Leave it up to the general public to handle it.

There's actually a foundation.

for the National Historic Marker Day, it's WGOfoundation.org to help promote the National Markers.

Do

you

often pull over and

look at it?

You know, I really don't know.

You know, on our trip out west, we did that just to see what the marker said.

You know, I mean, we don't know what's going on out west.

It's odd territory out there.

It's different world.

It is totally different.

And you never know what the markers are going to indicate.

You know, sometimes they're like, you know, where

forts used

to be, you know, where, you know, Indian tribes used to hang out and stuff.

So, you know, all those different markers along the way on our trip out west to Wyoming.

So it was kind of fun.

You can take pictures of them, look at them later, and then you will go, oh, that's, you took a picture of the sign.

Not the actual

area.

I know, we're not even in the picture of the marker.

But you know, when I went out to the corn palace, that was one of the highlights.

I've been

there.

Have

you?

Oh, God.

Yeah, I took the whole family there.

Have you been there, Sam?

I've been there, yeah.

Oh, my God.

Yeah.

What did you think?

I thought it was a huge ripoff myself.

Yeah, yeah, it's

like, there's nothing there.

You just walk around, there's lots of corn stalks and weird things made out of corn.

Yeah.

Just a bizarre building, just, you know,

the outside of it.

I was, uh...

I was impressed by the building.

You know, they have to replenish that every once in a while, right?

I mean, that's corn out there.

Yeah.

It's gorgeous.

That's right.

You think if it

gets hot enough that

it just starts popping?

It starts popping.

The corn palace.

Where is that?

South Dakota?

Or is it somewhere out there?

Is it South Dakota?

It's South Dakota, yeah.

Let's see.

Oh, it's National Hug of Plumber Day.

Really, would you dare to hug a plumber?

It seems like that could be trouble.

That would be trouble.

It's got a picture of this smiling plumber.

Yeah.

Yeah, he likes to be hugged.

Yeah, it looks a little creepy.

I gotta

say.

I'm not even gonna go there.

Let's

just move on.

I mean, there's a lot of Uniporn movies they start hugging the former.

Okay, I knew you would go there.

Those pipes misses.

National hairball awareness day.

It's got a picture of a cat.

I know, gagging.

Oh God, I know.

Cat

lovers

have all been there.

The onerous sound of their cat makes when their hairball is on the rise.

Good God.

That's a good description.

It's one of

the best descriptions I've heard of that.

You know, John, regular grooming helps reduce the amount of hair that your cat ingests.

Have you ever had a cat?

You're

kind of a

dog.

I did.

Well, I had a cat, yeah.

And I became allergic to him after two years and had to set him up for adoption.

Oh, well, yeah.

I'm sorry to hear that.

How about you, Sam?

Are

you

cat-friendly?

There was

a

cat living under my porch

for a while.

Oh,

yeah?

Yeah.

But mostly, well, I don't know if I'm a dog person, but I grew up with dogs.

Yeah, yeah.

Mm-hmm.

All right, let's move on.

National DNA Day.

I don't care about that, do you?

National Arbor Day, so plant a tree.

I did some plants out in front of my yard yesterday.

Yeah.

Some flowers and some marijuana plants.

Yeah, I got those in the mix.

What do you call them, flower pot?

Yeah.

I don't know what they're called.

I don't

know what they're called either.

Long wooden...

things that you plant flowers.

Like a

trellis?

No, trellis is a different thing.

I have no

idea what I'm talking about.

It's

just a flower pot.

Yes, but it's a long wooden flower pot, a window.

It goes in front of the windows.

Well, somebody can open the window

and hit the text in and sell us the actual word

because we can't pull it.

It's National Zucchini Bread Day.

Oh, zucchini bread.

I love

that

stuff.

You should make some of that, Sam.

one of these days.

I furnish a zucchini and I'll furnish bread.

Okay.

Yeah, I know.

Zucchini is slightly expensive.

Oh, is

it really?

Oh,

yeah.

When I was a kid, we grew it in our garden and we like,

we grew

the most gigantic zucchinis ever and we didn't know what to do with them.

We had to just like throw them like

compost.

Yeah, you really have to throw them out.

I mean, once you get big, they get very seedy.

and tough, so you can't really let them grow.

You have to, you know, maybe 12 inches, something like

that.

Oh yeah, well, I don't know how big they actually were, but to a kid, when I was probably like 10

years old, these things were

comically

large.

Yes, well maybe they were large.

Enormous, okay.

And it's National Telephone Day.

Anybody still have a regular old, you know, plug-in line phone?

Wow.

Yeah, babe.

WMDX.

Johnny

Gordy, early mornings here.

And this is an interesting song.

Who's singing this?

This is Ella Fitzgerald.

Oh, wow.

Yeah.

I never made you find this song.

I googled songs by Ella Fitzgerald.

Oh.

It's a lovely day.

It's kind of a great opener for the show.

Yeah.

Rain is coming down, washing down State Street.

Yeah.

A little bit of localized flooding.

People are building arcs.

I

see

a break in the

clouds.

Are

you really?

A little bit.

Oh

good.

Maybe we can get the leaf blower guy out there to take care of some of the puddles on the sidewalk.

How many

leaf

blowers do you think you'd have to get together to blow away a storm cloud?

Too

many.

Too many.

Yeah.

Yeah.

But it's going to be raining off and on today and high right about 50.

Right now 47.

So.

It's 24 minutes past the hour.

Getting a few texts in here early going.

You can text us on the Civic Media app or at 608-879-8255.

Text us or call us.

We've got a text from Mark, Prairie to Sack.

He says, I haven't heard that Pete Hagseth.

Well, he misspelled it, so I mispronounced it.

Pete Hagseth.

No, I guess he did spell it right.

Sorry, Mark.

Violating security.

Let me start over.

I haven't heard that Pete Hegseth violating security rules using a landline yet.

Give him time.

Yeah, there's new information about Pete Hegseth now every day.

He set up a landline connected to, what's the name of the app?

The signal.

He had that in his office.

I know.

Directly

connected

into a private computer.

It's just so I tell you know the do that Republicans just love doing that stuff because if you might remember Scott Walker Well, you weren't in the state at the time when he was governor, but Scott Walker put a separate landline Internet connection in his office so they could coordinate Their fundraising and campaigning

Well, that's frowned upon, isn't it?

Which is illegal, and he got caught doing it.

And he acted like, well, I didn't know it was there.

I didn't know that desk with that landline over there on that desk was there.

You know, it was one of the dumbest moments.

ever for a governor, but

yeah,

he did that and now Hakeseth has done the same thing to set up, you know, whatever he wanted to talk about.

Every day.

On his own.

Every day.

On his own internet connection.

That's wild.

Sam,

should we get to the history books?

Oh, boy.

You got something?

Open it up.

Why

not?

Let's get it.

It's all dusty again.

Oh, no.

Oh, Sam.

I should have known better.

Do you want some oxidants?

How are we going to use a digital one today?

Oh, no.

All right, you

okay?

I didn't even think about that, John.

I

forgot.

You all right?

Good gracious.

Yes, I'll be all right.

Thank you, Gordy.

1792.

A very first execution by guillotine.

Wow.

1792?

1792, yeah.

That seems actually a little late.

I

thought that was much earlier in the Middle Ages.

Yeah.

No, well, I mean, they

had.

Beheadings in the Middle Ages, but the the guillotine was a French Revolution thing.

Oh, yeah.

Oh, okay.

Okay.

Well, they they're taking credit for it.

Yes, okay It was around before that but you know, they get credit.

Well, who was the first one to yeah a

guy named I'm gonna mispronounce his name because he's French Nicholas Pelletier

There you

go.

He was he was a highwayman.

He was a highway robber.

He robbed

travelers and took their stuff and I guess he lost his head for it.

That's too bad.

You remember him on this day though.

Pelletier.

Pelletier?

Do you know French?

No, you pronounced it correctly.

They just have garbage trucks all over the place with Pelletier.

Well, I think it's Pelletier, isn't

it?

No, it's Tier.

Tier?

Yeah, Pelletier.

I used to know somebody with that name.

Oh.

Yeah.

Well,

I'll have to say it differently now.

Because we have them as

our garbage service.

Yeah.

Yeah.

And they're good.

They got their trucks all over the place.

OK.

Next.

Uh, we got some canal history.

Oh, yeah.

I'm

sure

we love canal history.

You know, we've been asking you to find canal history for us.

Yeah, I'm sure.

Uh, the Suez Canal, they started construction on it in 1859 on this day, and then 100 years later, the St.

Lawrence Seaway in North America, connecting Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean, that opened in 1959.

Okay,

keep us updated.

Yeah, I'll look for

more canal

history just for you, John.

Thank you.

Today in 1901, New York became the very first state to require cars to have license plates on them.

They weren't much of license plates, they were just the owner's initials that you actually

split.

Wow.

First vanity plates.

Yeah, exactly.

Pretty much so, yeah.

Boy, you get tagged, huh?

I wonder what the speed limits were back then.

I know that the very first speed...

speeding ticket ever issued was to a bicyclist.

But I don't know how fast the cars are going back then.

Today in 1961, Fairchild, they were issued the very first patent for an integrated circuit, a microchip.

That's pretty cool.

61.

That's pretty recent, actually.

Yeah.

Yeah.

You know, we're going to present all these old technology documentary audios that have

Compiled and put together and we're gonna feature them on the show what because it's amazing all of the inventions that we're created so early on and of course, you know, they became like The laser laser printer.

Yeah, or yeah, I mean

As the 21st century began, human evolution was at a turning point, a dumbing down, until humanity was incapable of solving even its most basic problems.

This is grade A weapons grade stupidity.

Just doing my civic duties.

We can duck and cover.

There's a fall each other right there.

There's no way to survive this, you idiot!

Idiocracy.

For the smartest guy in the world, you're pretty dumb sometimes.

All the

time.

635 rain showers this morning.

Highs right around 50 degrees.

Currently it's 47.

This portion of the show brought to you by Virlo Mattress of Madison.

One thing that remains constant since 1958.

Since Virlo began, they're still direct to consumer.

They provide superior products at unbeatable prices.

Two locations in Madison, east side and west side.

Or just go online to Virlo.com.

Time for idiocracy.

Yes.

We have

somebody, uh,

Steve on horror.

I have a popular French name.

How would you pronounce this?

Dumas.

Yeah.

That's what I would say.

Dumas.

Yes.

I think

I think it was in an American way.

I think he was saying dumb ass.

That's what he was looking

for.

Yeah.

Okay.

Um, Mark from Prairie to Sax says the French doctor who invented the guillotine, uh, thought it would be a more humane method of execution.

I'm surprised Trump hasn't called for it here.

It's too humane.

That's why he hasn't called for it

yet.

Thank you, Mark, for that comment.

So what do we have for anyocracy today?

Well, what we have today, J.D.

Vance had a problem talking about due process.

Really?

Yeah, it's not something that he's...

Okay, so why don't we listen to what JD Vance had to say about this Here's the host from MSNBC.

It's a prime

on JD Vance.

Let's listen.

I want to just put on the screen for folks what the vice president of the United States tweeted.

He said to say the administration must observe due process is to beg the question what process is due, is function of our resources, the public interest, the status of the accused, the proposed punishment, and so many other factors.

Here's the thing.

What the heck?

In the vice president of the United States, really asserting that if someone is a criminal and he undocumented and or undocumented in this country, they do not deserve due process.

You want to talk about word salads?

That's a word salad.

Let me tell you something.

Vice president Harris would run circles around JD Vance's understanding of American law.

Yeah, that's right.

So JD Vance has a problem, you know, describing a due process.

He doesn't really believe in it.

We don't hear much from JD Vance.

I think it's because of his unusual perspective on government.

What did we really expect, putting the words due process in the Constitution?

It doesn't say what...

process that we are due, it just

says that

we're due some sort of process.

So I can understand JD Vance's confusion.

Oh, I can see, yes, I can see that also it may have something to do with DEI.

So we have to do away with everything that is DEI and I think due process is included in that list.

It reminds me of Dan Quayle when he was vice president.

Just keep him out of sight, out of mind.

Don't let him get out in public too much, because every time he goes out there, he says something really dumb.

But you know, it sounds like something that Trump would agree with.

Yes.

Right?

Look, our leaf blower guy is out there.

It's raining.

He's got a fantastic raincoat on.

Oh, that is great stuff.

Looks like

he's wearing a hazmat

suit or

something.

It does look hazmat-ish.

Why would he?

Oh, man.

I want that outfit.

He's just putting in his hours.

All right, let's go to Mark.

Mark is calling us up right now.

We should talk to him.

Let's go to the phone lines.

Good morning, Mark.

Go ahead with your question or comment.

Good morning, guys.

It strikes me that JD Vans doesn't understand due process.

Isn't that kind of foundational to the whole American Republic thing?

That was one of our big beefs against the whole king of England and our revolution that the king wasn't following due process at all.

There was actually some due process in English common law and in English law that due processors.

No, the king thought he could just try people, not even try people to execute them or ship them overseas to have for their punishment.

or their trial and JD Vance says, oh, we can just ignore that.

Doesn't that?

Yeah, they don't understand

work.

Yeah, right

here.

Yeah.

They

hold the Constitution.

These are the these are the real Americans that don't understand why America is what it is.

Why it came to be, how it came about.

Yeah, I get you on that.

That is something else.

By the way, you know, if you if you

Don't agree with the president or king now He wants to deport you, you know, you're going to be part of you know, the people who are anti-american Just get rid of him.

Yeah, just send him

So when Donald Trump is disagreeing with Joe Biden all the time, you know didn't doesn't that make him being Wasn't he disloyal then and should Biden should have just been able to round him up and all these magus could have been shipped off to

Ship them off to Russia.

We missed our chance.

I guess so.

We didn't know that this would be the argument that they'd go this far, but you're right.

Absolutely right.

In fact, Stephen Miller talked about this.

Thank you, Mark, for that call.

Deporting people that, you know, they're citizens of this country, but if they support bringing back these immigrants who we deported, then they're part of the problem as well, and maybe they should be.

Deported.

Well, let's let's listen to this.

Will Mamoo Khalil be deported from the United States?

Quick answer,

please.

Yes, he will.

As will anyone who preaches hate for America.

His organization.

So they wanted to eradicate Western civilization.

Look, under this country.

under this administration, under President Trump, people who hate America, who threaten our citizens, who rape, who murder, and who support those who rape and murder are going to be ejected from this country.

And I just wish a fraction of the media outrage that we had over deporting terrorists and deporting monsters and deporting their sympathizers from this country was spent crying over the blood that was shed of American women and children over the last four years, or crying over the half a million children that Biden trafficked into this country, or crying over the neighborhoods destroyed by gang

and drugs and fentanyl.

Cemetery's are filled with tombstones from Americans that were killed by Joe Biden, M.I.

Orcas, and his administration.

Wow.

Steven Miller, right?

Yeah.

Way over the top.

He's nice.

You know, he kind of gets wound up, and then he goes on these rants, which is another example of why this guy isn't in the media very often, but when they put him out there, he takes off.

Yeah.

Boy.

There's a bottle rocket.

How about this?

You know, we've been talking about the economy and how bad the economy has been and it's going to be even worse by the summer because a lot of the supply chains will have been broken and will start experiencing what these tariffs are all about.

But we do have some people who are interpreting this for us and also explaining some of this.

And there's a guy, Gary Stevenson.

He has a podcast called Gary's Economics.

And he was on Pierce Morgan the other day.

And he was talking about this.

And I've got a couple of cuts here.

Let's play cut one is 203.

All right, let's listen to this.

If

you know your history,

can you

point to a period in UK history,

for

example, where massively punishing.

rich people by massively taxing them has actually benefited the country.

Listen,

my car really.

My dad was born in 57.

He worked for the post office.

Royal Mail.

35 years.

Never once earned more than the average wage in the country.

He was able to buy a house, support family.

My parents are retired now.

They own their own property.

They're financially secure.

That's not possible now.

He lived in an era

where the top rate of tax was much, much, much higher.

The 50s, the 60s, the 70s in the UK, in the US, the top rate of tax on larger states was significantly higher.

And in that time period, it's not a coincidence, ordinary people could afford to buy houses.

They could afford to... Listen, this is not normal, OK?

Read your history, right?

We heard Charles Dickens.

Charles Dickens.

In this country we're talking right now, 150 years ago, ordinary men and women lived in desperate poverty, OK?

That's going to happen again.

Oh, it is

going to happen

again.

Yeah.

And he went

on to talk about how the wealthy are actually taking housing away from regular, normal, everyday people.

And this is cut 208.

Let's listen to Gary Stevenson and Gary's economics.

The rich are growing their wealth very rapidly and it's acting like a black hole in society.

It's sucking the wealth away from the middle class, from the working class, from the government.

And I saw immediately that that wouldn't stop.

I saw because

just just explain how that happens.

I think what people often don't realize is is the passive income that comes with that.

So if if Rishi Sunak's worth 700 million pounds, what's his passive income?

And when I say passive income, I mean that the income he gets just from his wealth, not from his work, you know, he's going to make around 5 percent, 35 million pounds a year.

Let's be conservative, 26 million pounds a half million pounds a week.

So imagine you were Rishi Sunak now and you're making half a million pounds, passive income a week.

How much are you going to spend?

Not a

lot.

Problem is, once you have this group of society with very large passive income, unless you have a rapidly growing economy, they basically have nothing they can do with that income.

If you have the wealth of the rich growing at 5%, in an economy that's growing at 1% or 2%, there's nothing they can do.

They outgrow the economy and they squeeze everyone else out.

And what ordinary people see is, house price is going up, stock price is going up, my kids can't afford the house.

And what that is, is the rich squeezing.

the middle class out is the kids of the rich outbidding your kids for things like houses.

There you go.

Yeah, that's the way it's going to work because of the price of housing, of course, very, very high.

Yeah.

And the only ones who can afford it are the kids of the rich.

And it just keeps the class warfare going.

Yeah.

It's the haves and the have nots.

That's right.

It seems like we've turned that corner.

And again, you know, Mike McCabe has talked about this.

We should look at this vertically instead of.

Warring factors on a horizontal line in the left and right.

We should look at who is at the top of that that vertical list Mm-hmm, and that would be the wealthy rich people Yeah, and and they're playing the super and they're making the left and right wore it out for some reason no reason at all actually Yeah, you know we really got to get this thing together.

Okay now now here is

Now, here's another person on the economy.

This is Scott Galloway, and they call him Professor G. It's his podcast.

And let's hear what he has to say about the world and its reliance on the US.

This volatility is great for traders.

It's up, it's down.

There was a rumor, CNBC leaked a rumor that the tariffs are off, it's spiked, as you said.

Traders will make a lot of money, but this is what the medium and long-term effects will be when we've talked about this.

There will be a re-rating of the U.S.

markets where rule of law and consistency are no longer features.

They're bugs because we're inconsistent and we have one-off asymmetric, non-systemic

punishment and rewards based on who the president gets donations from.

And I don't care how outstanding your firm is at growing its earnings, you cannot outrun multiple contractions.

Your thoughts.

That 90-day pause that you talk about.

this fake headline went around and it started on Twitter.

It said that Trump was going to pause these towers for 90 days.

And what's so crazy is that within minutes, in the same way that meme stocks moved, the S&P climbed 7%, it added almost $4 trillion in value off of a fake headline, off of a rumor.

And then suddenly the White House announced that...

It was fake.

Trump was not considering 90 day pause and the stock market immediately plummeted again and those three and a half trillion dollars in market value was erased again within minutes.

We've never seen this level of volatility before.

And two, it is remarkable just how much the investment community hates these tariffs.

The fact that they were willing to go in and start panic buying because they saw some unsubstantiated rumor on their Twitter feed.

That to me is an indication.

just how desperate the markets are right now.

They would do anything to believe and to be told that these tariffs aren't real, that it's all a negotiating ploy.

But of course, they were denied that reality, and they immediately started panic selling again just a few minutes later.

I mean, the stock market.

Isn't that... Yeah.

But the thing you take away from that is that the entire economy, global economy, is depending on Twitter feeds.

That's a little daunting isn't it?

Isn't that crazy?

It is.

And we're moving our government to Twitter to pass along information the government is doing in each and every department of the government.

And on it goes.

We'll be back with more of John and Gordy, more Idiocracy right around the corner.

Working in a coal mine, going down, down, down Working in a coal mine, about to slip down Working in a coal mine, going down, down, down Working in a coal mine, about to

slip down No, I'm

so tired.

John and Gordy in the morning and we haven't even talked about Draft Day

up in

Green Bay.

God, the crowds up there, they've doubled the size of Green Bay with the crowds.

Before you get into that, who was that British guy with the Gary's Economics podcast, some textures?

Scott Galloway

was

the guest on Professor G's podcast, so you might want to check that out.

That's the second one.

What's the earlier one?

Oh, it was Gary's Economics.

Gary Stevenson has the British accent.

Yeah.

It is 6.53.

We've got rain showers this morning.

Street sweepers are doing donuts on State Street, so

look out for that.

Yeah, I saw one turn left on red into State Street, almost hit a cyclist, and then started spinning around doing donuts.

It's kind of cool.

You know, those vehicles have precedent over bicyclists,

so I think

that bicyclists better watch out.

What do you think the best vehicles are to steal and go on a joyride with?

Like the best odd vehicles, not just like a fancy car or something like that.

Would you say street sweepers one of them?

I

haven't

been a

car thief in a while,

but I think street sweeping or sidewalk sweeping.

I think it would be fun to steal a Zamboni.

I was just gonna say that.

Zamboni would

be

very cool.

Hey, have you got the WMDX newsletter yet?

Well, you should get it.

You can just go to WMDXradio.com.

That's WMDXradio.com and sign up for the newsletter.

It comes out every

Thursday.

You know, you're talking about the financial guys, Professor G's podcast.

We kind of cut that off a little early.

We have about a minute and a half of it.

Scott Galloway was a guest on this.

And I think what they had to say was rather important.

So

why don't we

just continue that clip.

I think, again, just a few minutes later.

I mean, the stock market has literally turned into a meme stock market.

It's unbelievable.

But to

understand that, we need to go back to the arguments the administration made in the first place as to why these tariffs were a good idea.

We covered some of those arguments on Monday.

It's 40 chess.

It's a negotiating tactic.

It's going to bring back manufacturing,

et

cetera, et cetera.

We broke down those arguments.

One argument we didn't cover, though,

was the argument that has been made by the Treasury Secretary, Scott Besin.

And his argument is that if we implement the tariffs and we, because of that, bring down the stock market, we will also bring down Treasury yields, which in his view will be a good thing, because lower yields means lower rates, lower borrowing costs for both consumers and for our country.

And what actually happened to Treasury yields?

Initially, as you would expect, they came down.

And many in the MAGA camp were very quick to point this out.

They said, look, the yields down again.

What they didn't point out, though, was that yields barely came down.

What we're seeing is an exodus out of both markets, the stock market and the debt market.

So investors have completely lost their faith.

in American companies and American debt, the American government.

In other words, the entire world is turning itself away from America wholesale.

That's what's

happening.

And it takes some time for all of this to take effect.

To settle in.

So things are not going to look good in the future.

And we're already kind of watching it from the sidelines.

And it isn't pretty.

But it's going to be ugly later on.

At least the economy is going to really feel this.

Well, watching CNN yesterday, I know Trump was saying, well, yeah, of course we're talking to China.

You know, he's asking, people

are asking him, are we

talking

to

China?

Yeah, we've got to go.

And then China completely disavowed that.

They said, no, we're not talking.

No, nothing's changed.

He's lying.

He is lying.

He was lying at the press conference.

He was asked, you know, well, who are you talking to?

Yeah, right.

Our people are talking to their people.

And that's why the press is misreading this.

This is why they're misrepresenting what's going on.

They don't know what's going on.

Well, no one does.

And you're not telling us the truth.

So it would help to have the truth first, right?

Would be helpful.

I don't know.

Yeah, I'm just saying that seems like a good idea Yeah, we were talking about Steven Miller Exporting all the citizens in this country who disagree with Trump the king, right?

I guess somebody else had a point of view on this is cut 206 and They this is a web wisdom.

So I thought we'd play this It's just an opinion.

Let's listen to this.

Okay

snatch a proud boy

Snatch five of them Some Democratic governor who's gonna be a legend Just snatch them off the street.

No due process put them in solitary and let them sit And then watch the maga fascists fall over themselves Because you can't do that to somebody within the United States, right?

Unless it's them Like let's light this candle and go set it off.

Yes.

If you don't do it now and you wait

It'll be harder.

Grab a proud boy who was at January 6th and got pardoned by Trump.

Grab him, throw him in solitary, no due process.

Watch them try to justify.

Watch them backpedal.

Take it all the way to the Supreme Court so that they can go ahead and cement due process.

And then you can't do this to people inside the United States.

If you play by their rules, you will lose.

Snatch a proud boy.

There you go.

I love that idea.

Isn't that a great

one?

Yeah.

Yeah, that

time to play

offense.

I would love

It's John and Gordy.

I love you.

John I'm Gordy on the radio.

92.7 is the place to

go.

WMDX, John I'm Gordy in the morning.

That's us.

And it, jeez, you know, it's such a perfect morning today, isn't it?

I mean, it's supposed to rain all day, but now it's clearing up and it's looking really nice.

I think it's that the sidewalk sweeper guy.

You know, he cleared away all the rain.

Yeah.

All the clouds.

Yeah.

that doughnut whipped things up that he do, you know, he did a doughnut right in the middle of State Street and the weather changed.

This portion of the John and Gordy show is brought to you by our friends at Virlo Mattress of Madison.

Seven minutes past the hour.

47 degrees, some scattered showers.

And now Savannah Tome Olsen, our WNDX News Chief Bureau person.

That's a long

title,

isn't

it?

What is the exact title, Savannah?

What is it?

Madison Bureau Chief, but I like your version better.

Okay, well, try to say that.

Yeah, fit that on a

business

card.

Okay.

So it's always great to.

checking with you on Friday mornings.

So you've got a couple of, well, one sad story and one very bizarre story we want to talk about.

Let

me just say,

I

think Savannah does a fantastic job of reporting here

at the station.

Absolutely.

You go in deep and bring a lot of details to your stories and I really enjoy that.

That's my favorite part of your reporting.

Well thanks, I really appreciate

that.

I spent a lot of time on

maternal mortality and abortion rates this week.

We're going to talk about stuff a little more local.

Well sad news first, a major business in this area is now going out of business.

Yeah, everybody knows George's flowers, right?

Over on Park Street, they have the big red letters on the side of the building.

It first opened in 1984, and now the current owners are planning to close it.

It was opened by George and Nia back in the 80s, and it's two of their kids who have taken over about for the last 15 years or so.

And they just kind of said they knew they didn't want to sell the business.

They're ready to retire now too.

They knew they didn't want to sell the business and they knew they definitely did not want to sell their dad's name.

So

they're closing on May 10th.

I don't know if you guys remember the story of when George and Nia died last year, but he died the day after his 100th birthday.

And then after being married for

Almost I think they were like two months shy of 70 years.

Um, she died a couple hours after his funeral.

Totally peacefully.

Wow.

Um, so they spent maybe a week apart and that was about it.

Yeah.

What a story.

Yeah.

What a great story.

Crazy story.

I know people are gonna miss it.

I'm gonna miss it.

I know.

I love Georges.

Right.

Yeah.

Been around so long.

So many

flowers delivered.

Okay.

Now

a strange story.

Yeah, the strange story

switching

gears.

We

might have an ice cream monster developing in our lake soon.

This is one of the most bizarre stories I've reported on in the last, I don't know, six months.

Great.

So apparently health inspectors showed up at Shep's ice cream to do a health inspection and they see some purple liquid coming out of a door like flowing underneath the door.

all the way down the sidewalk

and

all the way into the storm drains.

So then they like take some reports, right?

And they plan to come back two days later.

Two days later, they come back, blue liquid is coming out of the building

and

into the storm drains.

So chefs had to be cited.

They've actually faced five citations in the last three years for not properly

you know, cleaning up and containing some of the things from the ice cream shop there.

And mostly believe it or not, they had to call the city engineering department both times

to

come clean some of this stuff out of the storm drains,

which I

mean, does sound difficult.

But man, reading that story, I'm like, that's this sounds like the start of a children's book, you know, like the ice cream was popping down the sidewalk.

You know, it sounds to me like somebody left the freezer door open.

That's all.

I mean, ice cream started melting.

Yeah.

Running underneath the door.

That is, you know, it's not a pipe.

It's not a drain pipe.

It's not something, you know, that they they need.

It is just running.

out from under the door.

It's like the movie The Blob, right?

Right.

Well, just imagine being this health inspector who like shows up like, hmm, this is this is weird.

You know, I'm gonna look around.

I'll go home.

I'll come back and then it comes back and this time it's blue ice cream.

Wow.

Well, I'm sure they're going to clean it all up and they'll get they'll get everything back in order real soon.

Making the lakes look real blue.

Oh

boy, that's something

else.

Okay.

Well, Savannah,

we appreciate it.

Thanks for that ice cream story.

You got big plans for the weekend?

I know the Mifflin Street block party's going on, the Crazy Legs run is happening, lots of stuff happening around the

city.

All kinds of stuff.

It's my wedding anniversary today, so we've got dinner plans at 8.30, so pray for us at 8.30 tonight.

Well, we'd be able to make it all evening.

Yeah,

well, congratulations.

Thank

you.

How many

years

are you celebrating?

Three.

We've been married four.

We've been together almost 10 now.

Oh, 10.

Good

for you.

Wow, that's real.

That's

great.

Congratulations.

Yeah, make sure you're

in a restaurant

that doesn't get hit by a bus.

All right?

Okay.

Savannah, thank you.

Thanks, Savannah.

We'll talk to you again sometime soon.

WMDX News chief of our bureau here, Savannah Tomei Olson.

Yeah.

Okay.

Great bunch of stories.

Yeah,

really.

You know, we've talked before on this program about tax credit for

Hollywood you know when they want to do movies here

in this state

we actually repealed attack credit that we used to give them and the Republicans thought well why are we giving Hollywood a tax credit then I'm gonna live here why why should we do some

because it brings tourism in, you idiot.

Well,

it brings a lot of business in, and it brings a lot of employees in, and yes, they spend their money when they're here.

That's right.

So we're bringing that back.

It's now being reintroduced, and there's a lot of support for it.

This is from Fox Six in Milwaukee.

Let's listen to it as 224.

I always wanted to be in film and television.

Suzanne Jerva has worked on major films from the epic Gladiator to the Oscar nominated.

I set

up the research department at DreamWorks, the first person to do so in any type of studio situation.

Now she's finding more purpose working with Action Wisconsin.

It's a statewide coalition of filmmakers, producers, businesses and advocates collaborating with lawmakers to establish a state film office and production incentives aimed at bringing film projects right here to Wisconsin.

The film office has everything in one stop shop.

So it makes it easy for production to come here.

A legislative proposal has received support from both sides of the aisle.

Action Wisconsin says the proposal would provide $10 million per year for tax credit film production incentives and establish a Wisconsin State Film Office.

We're losing out not only in the whole country, but we're falling behind just in the Midwest.

Wisconsin filmmaker Joanne Jardine says film and television productions, book lodging, cater shoots, dine out and use local transportation.

They also

shop in higher locally and trades and crafts.

George to entice high profile p off in recent years.

They is, uh, you know, epic

something epic here in th

We have hurdles.

We still has to be past

But we're in super good shape and but I'm an optimist.

We don't need and we don't have time just be negative.

Jerva and other film leaders are asking supporters to write their local state legislators.

Their proposal will be introduced to receive a bill number and referred to a committee after April 22nd.

Wouldn't that be great to have Hollywood back here?

Yeah.

or

just

filmmakers

from

all over the country.

And give that tax credit and bring some tourism in.

A lot of people go to these events where they're filming, they go there, they watch the filming, they take part in it.

Even some people have been hired to be extras, just people walking down the sidewalk.

So it's kind of fun.

And there's

so many scenic locations in

Wisconsin

that would be great backdrops for the film industry.

Yeah.

All right.

Well, I hope, let's keep our fingers crossed that we'll have Hollywood and all those filmmakers across the country coming back to Wisconsin.

Yes.

And not just doing, you know, what, the weird bizarre stories.

You just want to be an extra in a movie, don't you?

I do.

Now I do.

You know, Schwabba was an actor.

You wanted to be.

I want to be an actor too now.

You wanted to be in, what is it, 100 beavers or whatever that movie was?

I wouldn't let you in.

Yeah, that's right.

Still steamed about that.

I am.

I am.

You know, I missed my chance

like Michigan monster.

Yeah.

Now.

Right.

There you go.

Hey, I was watching Maddow last night and she went through a list of big, big losses.

Trump had in the courts.

We have time for that whole list.

My

God.

Well,

yeah, we do.

All right, here it is.

She listed this.

Two federal courts extended deportation block under Alien Enemies Act.

That's the first one.

Federal Judge orders return of second migrant deported to El Salvador, which

I

didn't know about, but...

There you go.

Trump lost in court on his ban on transgender individuals in the military.

Now that's blocked.

Judge blocked Trump on passport change affecting transgender Americans.

You know where they had to report their name or their original name.

Talk about making it more confusing, right?

And how are you going to use that as proof so you can vote?

Yeah, never mind.

Judge Black, Trump effort to dismantle Voice of America.

We talked about that yesterday.

Yes.

Wow.

Looks like Carrie Lake has still got her job.

Okay.

Oh, good for her.

Judge halted parts of Trump's overhaul of elections, proof of citizenship, and turning over voter rolls to Elon Musk.

Believe that or not.

That was part of what he wanted to do.

Turn the Voter rolls over to the enemy.

He is truly the enemy.

He doesn't believe in democracy.

Voter rolls give him...

Yeah, just upload it all to Starlink or whatever that

is.

And then of course the proof of citizenship.

For some reason, and you can't figure out why, but the Megas have not tried to get around the idea that, you know, women...

have a birth name and then a marriage name.

How couldn't they make an exception?

Why wouldn't they have written something noticing that, yeah, this could be a huge problem for women to vote.

We'll work around that.

We'll come up with an alternative, but they haven't done that.

So we know what they're up to.

Trump can't withhold funds now from Sanctuary City.

Isn't that crazy?

All right.

Hi, Brittany.

Hey, good morning.

You know, I should have worn my packer jersey today.

You know, I forgot.

You had yours on yesterday.

And I figured this is like a football.

It's brown on

the football

board.

OK.

OK.

Gordy's like, no.

Well,

it depends on how you grip the ball.

You always look very stylish.

I don't know what I'm

saying.

Okay.

All right.

Um, let's see what, uh, we're, we are going to follow the list on the other side of the page now.

Six o'clock, seven o'clock.

Yeah.

We're going

to go to Ron Johnson.

You're not going to have a lot of time to get to any, any story.

You can maybe get two.

Yeah.

Yeah.

But these are long

coats.

Oh yeah.

You're getting the one 323.

Yeah.

Basically it's just Ron Johnson.

Which is classic, okay.

It's another Wisconsin story.

20 seconds, now 15.

Now

it's just slipping by, you know.

Well, we got new clocks.

New clocks here.

It's easy to read now.

Now we know what to do.

Okay.

92.7, John and Gordy in the morning.

You know, we've got new clocks.

Brand new clock.

They've got fancy ornate hands on them.

Yeah,

really, really cool.

Actually, you know, our break clocks, and they're real easy now.

We go for a break right on the minute.

No, not 50, not 45, not 35, but it's right on the minute, and that makes it a lot easier for me to keep track.

Because I know I don't see your hand signals all the time and You've noticed I didn't think anybody

noticed I missed the break sometime once in a while

723 right now.

It's been raining off and on this morning.

Now we're seeing a little sunshine in the mix.

Yeah.

And it's going to be like that today off and on rain and highs.

No, no, you don't know the weather.

Well, we have Brittany here.

Tell us what's going on.

That's

right.

Our chief WMDX meteorologist, Brittany Merlo.

Good morning to you.

You're stealing her thunder.

Oh,

I see what you did there.

But

I'm fine.

OK.

Good morning, Brittany.

Yeah, what the heck?

No, I'm just kidding.

He's right, though.

We are going to have on and off rain throughout the afternoon, probably done by three.

And this is not going to be a washout.

That is going to be reserved for up north.

Right now, it is just pouring up here in Wausau.

This widespread rain is moving in towards the Fox Valley in Green Bay.

Of course, it's going to be raining there from about noon to five.

which is nice timing.

That's before everything goes on TV and goes live and all that jazz.

But otherwise today still breezy winds gusting out of the north around 20 miles per hour, keeping us cooler highs only scraping the low fifties.

And then we clear the skies out tonight.

Beautiful tomorrow, tons of sunshine, a little crisp though.

Highs in the mid fifties and we hang onto some sunshine for Sunday too.

Highs climb to the mid sixties, but clouds start to increase later on Sunday and we are looking at a wet Monday with waves of showers and even some thunderstorms that could be strong to severe.

Wow.

Oh really?

Monday?

Yep.

God for

Monday.

So again, you know, Green Bay, they have the NFL draft up there and they're huge, huge crowds, I guess, you know, 205,000 officially.

Wow.

Doubling the population of Green Bay itself, kind of

cool.

That's very cool.

I know it's amazing.

And, you know, today the rain should be not in that area.

Is that correct?

No, it's going right to it.

It's been holding on.

I thought it was the Apple Valley.

Would you listen once

in a while to what's going

on?

I thought it was Ron Appleton and Fondleg.

I didn't know as high as Green Bay.

Yeah, it's going to get there.

Probably about noon to five.

I would say one to three is probably the heaviest rainfall hours.

We're definitely going to want the palm show.

At

the time they go on TV, I think the picks start at like six or seven.

I'm not, I'm not going to take getting beat up by two weather people.

Okay.

Just for being wrong.

Okay.

Now, Brittany, you're thinking

of going to the draft.

Is that right?

Yeah.

I was thinking about it.

Definitely.

I mean, it looks so cool.

And I just want to see the town shine like that.

You know, I've lived there for a couple of years and I just want to see what it's like.

Absolutely.

Early into all who's they're picking.

I don't care.

We already got a wide receiver.

We're fine, but.

Well,

Was it you Sam who brought up somebody brought up the fact that if you're in this huge massive crowd of 205,000 people, how do you go to the rest?

How do you go to the restroom or get a refreshment

or how

long does

it

take

you to get?

I mean,

you gotta let you know.

Oh man, that's just

I know that parking is outrageous.

Yes.

If you want to park by Lambo, it's like $200.

Yeah.

Oh no.

Yes.

Oh,

yeah.

Yeah.

That's the yard.

Bring the wallet.

That's the yard parking.

Yes, that's the yard parking.

Lots of people are charging out.

Oh, that's beautiful.

They're cleaning up.

Wow.

All right.

Well, very good, Brittany.

Yeah.

Well, you know, let us know, you know.

Well, Dale.

On Monday, how that all went down.

And we'll talk to you then.

Yep.

Have a great

weekend.

Have a good

weekend.

You too.

That's Chief Meteorologist for WMDX, Brittany Merlot.

Okay.

It is 726.

All right, now let's get to something fairly local.

This is just a crazy story about Ron Johnson talking about the conspiracy of 9-11.

Oh, boy.

All right.

I mean, this is just, this is crazy stuff.

We didn't talk about it for very long here, because, you know, it's just another crazy conspiracy theory from Ron Johnson.

But now 9-11 first responder, John Field on CNN.

Said something really nice about Ron Johnson.

I thought it was perfect.

Let's let's listen to this segment here to 45

Wisconsin Republican Senator Ron Johnson embracing a long debunked conspiracy theory about 9-11.

He went on a far-right podcast suggesting Congress should hold new hearings and specifically addressing building 7 at the World Trade Center.

It is that bronze-looking office building that you can see there on your screen on the left.

It collapsed hours.

after terrorist flu planes into the Twin Towers, and Senator Johnson promoted the conspiracy theory that it wasn't the attack that caused Building 7 to collapse.

Well, let's start with Building 7.

Again, I don't know that you can find structural engineers other than the ones that have the corrupt investigation inside NIST that would say that that thing didn't come down in any other way than the controlled demolition.

I mean, you just look at that.

You talk about molten steel.

Where's all the documentation from this investigation?

There are a host of questions that I want and I will be asking quite honestly now that my eyes have been opened up.

The report that Johnson is referring to there was by the National Institute of Standards and Technology that looked at how debris from the collapse of the North Tower of the World Trade Center hit Building 7 and set it on fire.

It was an extensive three-year scientific and technical building and fire safety investigation that found uncontrolled fires on multiple floors of Building 7 caused a critical support column to fail and that building to collapse.

All right, and we're gonna get to the comment by John feel after our break just before we get to rocker Because it is an amazing thing.

We have to hear it.

All right.

Why is Ron Johnson going

back in time for this

because he is

Conspiracy

he this is how he spends his time.

This is what he's paid to do by Wisconsin

voters.

Okay,

exactly and he gets nothing

7.7 John and Gordy in the morning 735.

Yeah,

yeah

rain off and on today highs about 50

we're talking about Ron Johnson his comments about 9 11 and another conspiracy theory and of course 9 11 first responder John feel had something to say about that and let's continue the cut here that we we started last hour last half hour let's try it in

this now is 9 11 first responder John feel

John, thanks for joining us.

And I do want to note that Johnson could call a hearing.

He does chair the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.

What's your reaction to his comments?

Well, thank you for having me, Brianna.

Ron Johnson's a silly man.

And right now, there's no legislation being done.

There's no governing.

And they're distracting their base and the American people.

That's right.

Nonsense.

On the surface, this is silly and pathetic.

If Ron Johnson

really wants to know what happened on 9-11.

I can meet with him, which we will be meeting with his office on Tuesday of next week when we're in DC.

I'll let him know that innocent lives were lost on 9-11.

Heroes died racing towards those innocent lives.

And subsequently, 137,000 people are now sick because of the aftermath of 9-11.

Ron Johnson's priorities are backwards.

If he truly really wants to know, he would put humanity first.

With this administration, with the cuts to NIOSH that administrate the World Trade Center Health Program, this just gets worse and worse for those who are sick and dying.

So with 39,000 people right now in the World Trade Center Health Program with a certified cancer, many of them will die because of the cuts that were made.

We're in DC to get legislation passed.

Ron Johnson can start by co-sponsoring S739.

And then, I'll have a serious conversation with him.

But we're gonna meet with his office on Tuesday and I'm gonna let them know that their boss is silly.

That their boss is putting conspiracy theories before human life.

You know, if you go back in history, after an historic event, two things happen.

Conspiracy theories or advocacy.

That's what separates me and Ron Johnson.

I chose advocacy.

Wow, love that.

Love that comment.

And

he

really has wasted our taxpayer dollars from the state.

I don't know why he got reelected.

It's just mind boggling.

But Ron Johnson is a useless individual.

I'd like the other quote.

Ron Johnson is a silly man.

He's a silly man.

Silly, silly guy.

That's the slogan now.

He's a silly man.

It is 7.38.

OK, let's lighten the load here a little bit and turn to Rocker,

who

is in

the studio with the Max Ink preview.

Good morning, Rocker.

How

are you doing, you

guys?

Oh,

we're hanging in there.

How are you?

It's time to unplug from politics.

I think so.

Absolutely.

Yes, let's.

Uh,

Max, radio six PM to midnight, Saturday and Sunday nights here on 92 seven FM.

This time tomorrow, foundation, uh, founder Corey Zimmerman will be on talking about this foundation.

We'll talk about that in a second.

Okay.

Last crack, butto and Paul Schluter will be interviewing, uh, with us.

And live in the lair, we're going to have the spine stealers.

And we're going to get into all those groups right now.

Spine stealers.

That's right.

This time, Tomorrow Foundation, I'm not sure if you guys have heard about this, but it's founded by this guy named Corey Zimmerman.

And his buddy got cancer, had a three-months diagnosed to live.

This was back in 2000, right?

And he wrote a song.

because he was just trying to deal with some of the emotion.

It wasn't until 2010 that this song he decided to release.

And then he wanted to give money away to research and cancer projects.

And so he started to give people to cover this song that he wrote, right?

And it started with some people who finally ended up with Candle Box and Rascal Flats.

Each year they all record a different version of this same song.

and then they give the money to cancer.

Well, not long ago, they decided, hey, we don't know where this money is going.

They changed to giving their money to random acts of kindness.

So they nominate, you can nominate any person with cancer in the United States and they get vetted and then they're surprised with a $5,000 check.

Somewhere they could be out at the grocery store, they show up with a check, hand it to them, they say, here you go, $5,000, no strings attached, see you later.

What a great thing.

And so, right, it's just an amazing thing.

We're going to be talking to the founder Corey Zimmerman on Maxink Radio.

And there was a guy, David Cook, who had won, I think, season seven of the singing America's Great, I forget the name

of

that

program.

I don't watch those, but he was great.

His name was David Cook, so he's pretty big, right?

This time tomorrow.

is where you can get more information about these random acts of kindness.

It's all about singers.

Is there a next show?

It's a vocalist showcase May 3rd at Rally Point in a connoisseur.

This was the last one that was done this time tomorrow.

This is by David Cook.

Will I be here?

Will it be clear?

Will it be hidden like dust in the air?

When I roll the dice?

Will I sacrifice, or will it be done?

Broke on my knees, begging him please To take away the pain like the salt in the breeze When I wake up, will it be gone?

Yeah,

fading

too soon there.

It's a powerful,

powerful song.

It is.

And David Cook, he was an American Idol season seven winner.

So this is really a great song.

And it's a really great concept.

So tune in tomorrow night to hear Corey Zimmerman talking about this time tomorrow foundation.

Let's move on.

Last crack, right?

You know, they're playing the Rocker Jamboree Sunday, May 4th, 1 to 5 p.m.

The Burr Oak on Winnebago with Electromag, Subatomic, Mindox, Magic 7, and Last Crack.

And through these Fridays, we've been kind of playing different clips from the band.

So Last Crack, they were signed in 1989 with Roadrunner Records, huge record label, right?

And their second album was recorded at El Dorado Studios in Hollywood, California by Dave Jordan, who was Allison Chains.

facelift, man in the box, really a unique time period because Last Crack was in the studio just after Allyson Chains.

So it's a really neat to hear some of that because if you listen to say Allyson Chains facelift, you know, man in the box, right?

Those drum sample sounds are exactly the same as the ones they used on Burning Time.

So it was really these guys were right

on the edge back in 1991.

So they're going to be playing at the Rocker Jamboree Sunday, May 4th, one to five PM.

They haven't played since 2019.

But this track, it's kind of we're going to do a little bit longer, but it's mini toboggan off their Burning Time album.

And the song is just an oral masterpiece.

Let's take a listen.

And if you listen, there's a few Wisconsin.

It's about the song is about butto the singer and his sister who come home from school.

and with a mini toboggan.

Let's take

a listen.

Good stuff.

Some

interesting poly rhythms going

on there in the background.

And we didn't even get to the guitar solo.

The guitar solo is using a slide that's the world-class guitar solo, right?

I mean, it's a completely amazing song.

And I think they'll be performing that one that night.

So it's a really good song.

And what a brilliant album.

That's called Burning Time 1991 on Roadrunner Records.

It's really critically

acclaimed.

Very cool.

And that's, um, that big rocker jamboree is Sunday, May 4th, one to five PM.

That's right.

That's right.

It's going to be a lot of fun at the burroke.

We got time for one more right here.

Uh, I know you got a new clock.

So yes.

It's keeping time.

It's a, it's a pretty clock, isn't it?

It's all shiny and new chimes at the top of the hour.

Yeah.

Except it's different times now.

Uh, the spine stealers.

They are going to be in the lair tomorrow night live.

It's two gals making spooky folk-based music.

They're from Madison here.

8 p.m.

tomorrow night.

They'll be on for one full hour playing a bunch of tunes.

They'll also be at the Baroque on the 30th of April with Bear in the Forest and Frail Talk.

And then on the 29th of May, they'll be back at the Baroque with Dallas Ugly, Jacob Slade.

This is the Spine Steelers.

This song is called Whisko.

Excellent.

Haunting.

Yes.

Yes.

That's what I thought.

Yeah.

That very interesting.

And they'll be in here actually with a slide guitar player.

They're a pedal steel.

So we're going to have a pedal steel in here tomorrow night.

That's cool.

And the spine.

Yeah.

I tried pedal steel.

I took pedal steel lessons.

Didn't work out.

You

know, it's not like driving, John.

There's

not like that.

There's pedals to move and there's knee things.

Knee, you know, I mean, that's really a difficult instrument.

Oh, yeah.

The finger picking, you know, it really is slide.

It's you have to have the feel too for it.

I've always loved pedal steel in everything like Hawaiian music, in country music.

It really it it it makes the song like Pink Floyd.

Yeah.

Well, there you go.

Yes.

All right.

Extravaganzo too.

Well, tell you what,

we'll take a little break here, but

we will be back with more of Rocker with the Max Inc preview right here on John and Gordy in the morning.

Rock and Roll Radio.

Stay tuned for more Rock and Roll.

WMDX 92.7, John and Gordy in the morning with a rocker this morning.

It is 7.52.

This portion of the show is brought to you by our friends at Verlo Mattress of Madison.

One thing that remains constant since they opened the doors back in 1958.

They are still direct to consumer and provide superior products at unbeatable prices.

You can check them out with two locations, Verlo Mattress of Madison East or West.

or just go online and find out a lot more at Verlo.com.

Back with Rocker in the studio with the MaxSync preview.

What do we got next here,

Rocker?

We have some events coming up in Madison this weekend and very soon, so to plan for it.

Come celebrate the life, music and friends of Kenny Gonzo.

He was owner of Gonzo's and singer of Predator, Metal Gons.

He drove for Union Cab and he died, he passed away a couple years back.

There's going to be a big show to remember him.

April 26th at the East Side Club, that's right next to Olin Park, Mars Hall, Bad Wolf, Metal Guns, Vinyl Thunder, and the John Massino Band.

If this isn't some of the veterans of the Madison music scene over the years, they're going to get together.

I imagine this is going to be like, you know, scene, scene memory day.

You're going to see everyone there.

That's April 26th, East Side Club.

Let's listen to a little Mars Hall.

Mars Hall is a great band.

Some of those guys came from the band Falcon.

People might remember that from the

80s.

Many people go back there.

70s,

right?

So this is a great band, Mars Hall.

Is there anyone out there?

This is from 2020.

Yep, and that'll be the extravaganzo for

Gonzo.

I don't know if you remember the bar, Gonzo's out on the Belt Line there for a while back in the 90s.

Marz Hall.

Yep, Marz Hall that is.

Let's get on to Tony Cannon and the Soundgarden crew.

Sunday, May 3rd, they're gonna be at the Harmony Bar in Atwood.

They sent me some music.

I thought it was really good.

You might remember him from years of fronting both the shakedown band and the Roadhouse Rockers through the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

And the band features Todd Phipps, Peter Oleg, Pops Flesher, and Tony Cannon, and Ken Kepler, I believe, as well.

And they are going to be playing, like I said, Saturday, May 3rd, Harmony Bart.

This is Tony Cannon and the Soundgarden crew.

The song is called...

Hard

times.

She put me down Talking about hard times You know those hard Yes!

Who knows?

Who knows better than I?

Nice vocals, Tony Cannon

Yeah, Tony Cannon, right Yeah

and

he took out

the hiatus for some health reasons.

So this is kind of getting back into it for him.

Great show coming up May 3rd at the Harmony Bar over on Atwood Avenue.

Love the horns in the background there.

You know, and now he has the old Jimmy's horn section.

Oh, really?

Yeah.

So

that's going to be a great show.

Really sounds really good band.

The rest of the songs.

A lot of them up beat, too.

That was kind of a slower blue song that I picked there today.

Oh,

John loves the slow blue stuff.

Yeah.

Especially the stuff with Banjo.

The banjo sparks it up a little bit.

All right, we got just a couple of minutes here.

I think we got time for this.

Cat and Candice Griffin, they're going to be with Maddie Batsley Friday, April 25th.

That's tonight at the Birock over on North Sherman, Northside Town Center.

The album was recorded with Cat and the Hurricane as the backup band.

So it's pretty cool.

So it's Cat and Candice.

I think it's just a duo tonight.

This is their song, this is Candace Griffin in the morning with Katyn Hurricane backing her up.

This is from a decade of keeping quiet from

2023.

you

As the 21st century began, human evolution was at a turning point, a dumbing down, until humanity was incapable of solving even its most basic problems.

This is grade A weapons grade stupidity.

Just doing my civic duties.

We can duck and cover.

There's a fall each other right there.

There's no way to survive

this, you idiot!

Idiocracy.

For the smartest guy in the world, you're pretty dumb sometimes.

All the time, of course, this is the high point of the show.

Idiocracy?

Idiocracy.

It's all downhill from here.

It really is.

Our country is headed by a madman.

What's your point?

We're used to it by now, aren't we?

I know, we're never gonna be used to this insanity.

Every day is just a circus.

Malcolm Nance said, always call Trump, Mad King Donald.

Mm,

okay.

Is that the new thing?

Yeah, because Cash Patel wrote a children's book and he actually called Trump, King Trump.

Oh.

or I think King Donald or King Trump.

And so now he said, you know, make it, make it, just add the word mad that works out perfectly.

So it's mad King Donald.

Trying to remember that.

It

is 6 36.

It's cloudy this morning.

We had some rain

overnight and

windy

conditions today and going to see some showers at times.

Highs right about where we're at right now, 53 degrees.

We're going to slide into the mid to upper 40s later on.

This portion of John and Gordy in the morning brought to you by Virlo Mattress of Madison.

Wake up and sleep better on a Virlo mattress.

A lot has changed since 1958, but some things have remained constant throughout Virlo's history.

They're still direct to consumer and provide superior products at unbeatable prices.

Virlo Mattress, two Madison locations east and west, and go to Virlo.com for more information.

Let's go to the phones.

All

right.

Matt's been hanging on

forever.

All

right.

Welcome

to the

program.

Good morning, Matt.

Morning, guys.

I, for one, like the rabbits.

I enjoy seeing some nature once in a while, even though they get caught in the lawnmower occasionally.

Oh,

come

on.

Yes, I like nature like that, too.

Okay.

I find it very calming.

I lived in Texas for a while.

I didn't see much of that at all.

It was

dry, hot, and drought-stricken.

And

desolate.

But I wanted to poke fun at the Mad King and his Joker vice president, two men in charge of the mannispere that wear makeup and are clowns.

And I like seeing the Chinese troll Dady Vance the way they are.

because it's such a hypocritical thing, right?

Like I support their right to wear makeup and dress in dresses at their home or have a show, you know?

But like in all these conservative men at CPAC that are blowing up Grindr, you know?

That's

true.

I support the

right to be yourself, you know?

I'm fighting for you.

Well, it's good to know that you're helping them out, you know?

Well, what should we play a cut from?

Should we play a cut from JD?

And he was talking about the Chinese the other day.

Do you remember that?

This was cut 82.

And yeah, he brought them up in a very fancy way.

All right.

What?

I was trying to tell you 182.

Oh, yes,

182.

So what's

happening here?

Let's play a little JD event.

So you know, Matt wanted to hear something from JD.

We borrow money from

Chinese peasants to buy the things those Chinese peasants manufacture.

That is not a recipe for economic prosperity.

This is the comment from JD Vance about Chinese people calling them peasants and now listen to a savage reply by a Chinese analyst.

You will know the comments from the vice president JD Vance calling the Chinese peasants.

How does, where does that leave US-China relations and any sort of talks between the two presidents do you think?

Allow me to be very brief, JD Vance and I went to the same law school, your law school.

I was 20 years ahead of him and I'm ashamed for the ignorance and the bigotry he demonstrated because he called China

the peasants, the peasants financed them, the peasants sold them goods.

Let me just make one single point.

The middle class in China is larger than the total population in the United States.

The urban population in China is about three times as big as the total population of the United States.

So my advice to my alumni at Yale Law School, JD Vance, is wake up or you go back to school to study more diligently to avoid making yourself a fool in front of the world.

Okay.

That's

pretty clear.

Come

on, JD.

You got to fight back here, don't you?

Calling the Chinese peasants and buying their peasant products.

Wow.

Amazing stuff.

But thank you, Matt, for bringing that up and helping us play that particular cut that would have ended up in the dumpster on Friday, but we got rid of it early.

You know, JD, he's been doing these diplomatic rounds.

He's, you know, going to Greenland and diplomatic is not the right word.

Well, he's attempting diplomacy in his own way.

He just saw the Pope the other day,

just a couple of days

ago.

Yeah.

He didn't get a.

big audience

with

him.

He had a private meeting with the Pope and a translator there.

He didn't stay long.

It was just

a hello and that was pretty much

it.

And if you watch enough of these spy movies, you know that they have some kind of chemical that you can rub on their

hand.

You're going to go with a conspiracy now, really.

Get out your tinfoil hat.

So I've never understood this, right?

You know, you put on a lipstick and you kiss the opponent and they die because they're poisoned by it, but you're not poisoned yourself by it.

Okay, I don't know how they do that because they

acclimate themselves to the poison

So they rub this on their hand and JD she just shakes hands with with the pope The pope died exactly

last night

He's 88

years

old.

Yes, he's 88.

Just got out of the hospital a couple of weeks ago for having double pneumonia.

I'm just

adding to the rumor mill.

That's all I'm doing.

All right.

Thanks.

We can count on you to do that.

Now, I suppose not a lot of people are aware that we won't do any kind of trade deals with the UK.

Did you know that?

That's true.

No trade deal.

No trade deals with the UK at least.

To this point, we haven't really heard too much about that.

And that's because it's by design.

So why don't we listen to cut 184.

This is a wisdom on the internet.

A

web wisdom.

A web wisdom, yeah.

And this is Tizzy Ant.

We've heard Tizzy Ant before.

Let's check this particular track

out.

The United States is trying to reach a trade agreement with you.

JD Van says there's a very good chance it's going to happen, but a source close to the administration says there's a sticking point.

There's something that's like a red line item for Donald Trump.

And if he doesn't get it, he doesn't want to do the deal.

What could be that thing?

Oh, he wants them to repeal their hate speech laws that protect the LGBTQ plus community.

He doesn't like those.

And if they don't get rid of him, he's saying.

not going to do a trade deal with you, unless you get rid of that stuff that protects LGBTQ plus people.

Wow.

What's the music?

I don't know.

But he's having a little,

you know, the typical Tik Tok background music.

He's in a lounge, actually.

That's why.

Yeah, like a piano bar or something.

It's a big production.

Tissie's out there constantly making these comments.

Tissie.

Was it was it?

The Supreme Court of the UK that like last week ruled that trans women aren't real women.

Yes.

Yes.

And a lot of protests came from that.

Maybe they are giving into Donald Trump's trade deal demands then.

It's possible, but that was the Supreme Court there.

It's hard to believe that it would give into Trump the demands just to trade with the US.

No one wants to trade with the US anymore.

I mean, our policies change every day.

Yeah.

That's the way it's been here for two or three weeks.

Well, SuperVillain from a James Bond movie, Sebastian Gorka, is out making public appearances again.

He kind of does fit the mold, doesn't he?

He really does.

When you hear his voice, you know, it's just crazy, right?

He's the counterterrorism czar.

That's why he's out there working with Trump.

And he's setting up Trump, Bondi, Patel, and Levitt.

to accuse and deport anyone protecting due process.

See, he's helping them make that argument.

So I thought Cut 186 would be a perfect way to introduce Sebastian Gorka to everyone.

I realize that the taxonomy of politics in America is dead.

It's not left and right.

It's not even Republican or Democrat.

There's one line that divides us.

Do you love America or do you hate America?

It's really quite that simple.

And we have people who love America, like the president, like his cabinet, like the directors of his agencies, who want to protect...

Americans.

And then there is the other side that is on the side of the cartel members, on the side of the illegal aliens, on the side of the terrorists.

And you have to ask yourself, are they technically aiding and abetting them?

Because aiding and abetting criminals and terrorists is a crime in federal statute Rob.

Lock him up, half of the country, right now.

Throw him in jail.

That's true.

And I think what he's doing is he's helping Trump, Bondi, Patel, and Levitt talk up deportations of American citizens.

That's what I think is being set up here by Sebastian Gorka.

And why not give him that duty?

After all, he does sound like an arch-villain in a James Bond movie, or maybe even...

Go on it, you know.

A man for Monkko, a spy, or even get smart.

Get smart.

That's

where he really would have done well.

Yeah.

Sebastian Gorka.

I just love that name.

It is 645.

You can give us a call.

Phone lines are open.

You can also text us at 608-879-8255.

That's 608-879-TALK.

Again,

Pope Francis died at the age of 88 overnight.

Big surprise for everybody because he made personal appearances yesterday on Easter.

Yeah,

around the Vatican.

at the public and rode around the Pope Mobile.

He did.

And around the crowd there.

When did they get rid of that shield?

I think it was a few years ago.

He requested that he get rid of the bulletproof shielding.

Yeah, that was crazy stuff, wasn't it?

And it seemed kind of warm and hot, you know, sitting in something like that.

No, I'm not.

I was the day of

my papal history.

Did the Pope like get shot at or something in the past that they found it

necessary?

Yeah, there was a pope that was shot.

Somebody ran up to the...

with a gun.

Right.

I can't remember too much of those details.

I'm not a big Pope follower or anything like

that.

You're

not in the Pope fan club.

Not quite.

A few

popes ago.

Coming up in our next hour, we're going to be talking to former Madison Mayor Paul Soglin.

We'll also get an update from Brittany Merleau on weather.

I guess it's going to be kind of wet all week long.

The high point next hour.

Yeah.

I just want to.

help everybody figure this one out.

Get ready for it.

It's Trump's Easter message.

I thought,

you

know, this tugged

at your

heart.

I have to read it.

It was uplifting.

I had to pull out the

handkerchief.

It brought me to tears.

It

was heartwarming.

It was uplifting.

It was very

touching.

Every one of his messages is truly heartwarming.

His Christmas message was the hide point so far.

Oh, I know.

Just when you think it can't get any crazier.

Oh, I know.

It can't go any farther over the edge.

It does.

Yes, but we'll have that next time.

We'll open the hour with that one.

Can't wait.

Oh my god.

This is just unbelievable.

And

then tomorrow, by the way, we're gonna have Jim Santel in.

Oh, yeah, fine.

We can find out what's going on legally in those countries.

There's so much to get caught up on.

Well, yeah, you know, the Supreme Court.

Wow.

Just never.

There are two people in the Supreme Court who we can guarantee are gonna try to destroy the country in every way they can at San Milito.

Yeah.

and Justice Thomas.

These two guys, you know the way they're gonna vote.

And there's something wrong if you know they're gonna vote a certain way.

There's something wrong.

They're obviously not looking at the law and calling balls and strikes.

They're twisting the law into pretzels.

Okay, we got Dick here.

Can we get Dick right away?

Yeah, we only have a minute, Dick.

Good morning.

Go ahead with your question or comment.

Well, good morning, guys.

I've one thing real sad about the pope is that somebody as good and decent as him

Yes

had to pass to keep the media from the first thing out of the box this morning was not Trump the first 40

Yeah,

it was about the pope.

You're right

and nothing of Trump But when it did come it was about the administration.

I got a new job for Pete has said He's gonna be put in charge of Trump's birthday parade because Trump wants the whole world to know about it

Yes.

Nobody better.

That's right.

Send out that message via signal.

Exactly.

With his wife now, his brother and his personal attorney.

Yeah.

Yeah.

It's getting worse and worse and they don't care.

Yeah.

Yeah.

It's crazy.

Yeah.

And

another

thing.

Thank you for that.

This was a great poke.

This guy believed in everybody and equal rights for everyone.

So it's really sad to see him go.

We'll

be right back.

2023.
