Put It In Reverse!

John & Gordy · Thu Apr 10, 2025

When the chips are down and democracy's back is up against the wall, two radio veterans step up to the microphone to right the wrongs, standing for truth, justice, and just because.

To say what needs to be said, it's John and Gordy on 92.7

WMDX.

We're riding high here in the morning now because we are nominated for Best of Madison.

Well, that's what we hear.

Yes.

Yeah, Best of Madison coming up.

I think the next round of voting.

For the people that have been nominated, it begins June 1st,

I believe.

And I think you can only vote once.

But yeah, there are three finalists, and you have to vote for the finalists you like.

Yeah, so they're up for a radio team.

I think we're up for that, yes.

This is big news and we just think.

We don't know.

Which are just

pondering this.

You are the one who is skeptical.

I'm pretty sure it's for the morning show.

Everyone don't have any other categories.

Well, I called up

our buddy Doug

Moe because he's a

freelance columnist for Madison Magazine.

He's vacationing in Hawaii.

Yeah,

we're at

the

pool.

I

don't have time for you, Gordon.

But he seems to think that's the case.

That's probably the

case.

We'll find out for

sure later today, but yes.

You remember that guy named John Gordy?

Yes.

Did we ever get a hold of him?

Maybe he got into the radio business here in Madison.

Maybe he's the one who actually won the nomination.

OK.

I sure hope not.

I sure hope that we won.

We

better nail this down before we talk

about it.

By the

way, your

neighbors are adding to the... Oh, yeah.

National Day calendar here.

They say it's National Hug Your Dog Day.

Yeah, okay.

How did we miss that?

How did we not know that?

Well, it wasn't on our list.

I know, that's crazy, right?

But we all do it.

You're absolutely right.

It's constant at our home.

I keep saying we're gonna spoil our dog silly, but you know, no one cares.

Okay, it's John and Gordy in the morning, along with producer Sam.

It's cloudy and foggy.

We had some rain earlier.

four degrees currently highs in the mid 40s in just a little while.

When you hear Peter Frampton music, we're not going to tell you anything, but sometime later this hour when you hear us playing a song by Peter Frampton, you'll need to text us if you'd like to go to the show.

It's April 15th at the Riverside Theater in Milwaukee, a great place to see.

show, and that's, again, April 15th at 7.30.

We'll have a pair of tickets to give away, so when you hear Peter Frampton music, you can text us, use the Civic Media app, and text us, what should we use as the word?

How about Peter?

Will that be okay?

Will that work?

Sam,

wake up Sam.

I thought you dozed off for a second.

I couldn't tell you anything about Peter Friggin.

I know like one song by this guy.

Let's just go with Peter and that'll be

it.

Just do that when you hear the song and then we'll be on our way.

Why don't we get to the AI summary of our first hour.

This is a new feature that we are doing every hour.

It's so surreal.

Do we

have some AI music we can play?

And I think it's dial-up something.

It's kind of an AI sense of humor as well.

It's titled, Headlight's History and Heated Debates.

This is a review of our first hour.

Yeah.

John and Gordy kick off a comedic mishap about driving with parking lights, sparking a rant on headlight woes, and the quest for brighter bulbs.

They delve into quirky national days, including a race self-negativity day and National Siblings Day, while also taking a stab at predicting the weather with bar dice.

There you go.

Yeah.

The show takes a serious turn with Dr. Tim Slecker.

Uh-oh.

He lost

the... Lost the text.

Oh, God.

Go back up.

I am

trying to.

You went too far.

Do you want to give me... Where are you going with this?

Do you need to lesson in how to use a mouse?

No,

somebody texted in and

that

bumped everything

up.

Okay, here it is.

The show takes a serious turn with Dr. Tim Slecker, discussing Oklahoma's controversial education standards, which now include 2020 election denialism.

This sparks a debate on the integrity of democracy and education.

The hosts also touch on robot skepticism and the historical significance of bananas and safety pins.

I guess that's a pretty good summary, I think.

Wow.

This is good.

It reminds us of what we just did.

I'd say that's award-winning topic.

How we covered so much in just a hat.

That's

amazing.

We're going to get to Trump backing down from the tariffs.

Yeah, complete reversal on things.

So, you know,

he said he

wasn't going to do that.

And then of course he did it.

Yeah.

Right.

Well, we got a lot of cuts here.

So why don't we start with cut 106?

And this is Fox News business correspondent Charlie Gasparino.

He had a lot to say.

Let's check this out right here.

Well, I mean, because of the mixed messaging, how can you doubt them?

I mean, let's be clear what happened.

You know, who capitulated here and why?

And

You know, I don't want to say this because I'm a patriot.

I'm an American.

But it is the White House who capitulated based on everything I hear and all my sources.

And the reason why is because of the bond market and what happened last night.

You know, Besson knows this better than anybody.

When you have yields on the ten year, rising to 5%,

Stuff starts shutting down when you have the lending markets screwed up.

By the way, who was dumping the bonds?

Somebody asked him if it was China, right?

It wasn't.

It was Japan.

While he was negotiating with Japan, Japan, according to my sources, were running major money management firms that are involved in the bond market without giving up names.

Japan was dumping bonds because they believed this was not a great place to do business.

that forced their hands.

Now, what you can say, I think legitimately here, is Trump decided to take the win, and here's why.

There was overwhelmingly, you know, deal potential here among the entire world, except for maybe China, right?

Everybody really wanted something, so he did take the win, but make sure, make no mistake about it.

Peter Navarro was talking, as of yesterday, about not taking the win, and now they did, and it's all because of the bond market.

Okay,

so there you have it.

That's just part of it.

The bond

market.

He went on to make it even clearer at this point, and this is cut 107.

Let's listen to this.

Okay.

I want to tell you right now that Donald Trump outsmarted the world.

Trust me.

I'm an American.

I support my president.

But that's not really what happened here from what I understand.

And I know I'll get pushed back, but here's what it is.

And from what I understand, and I'm getting this from people that are

talking to the White House, what happened in the bond market overnight, the spike in yields on the 30-year and the 10-year bond, which showed that people were dumping our bonds.

And who were those people dumping our bonds?

Japan, the biggest holder of bonds, was selling bonds.

That's what I'm getting from some very big money managers.

China, maybe to some extent, but it was largely Japan and others.

If you have a mass sale of bonds, that means people are losing confidence in the U.S.

economy on the ability to do deals with us.

And from what I understand, this is what forced the hand of this 90-day reprieve.

Now, is it a good thing?

Are people coming to the table?

Yeah.

But if you read between the lines, and not even what Scott Besant said,

We have no deals, right?

There's nobody that is really there saying, this is what we're going to do.

And they paused it anyway.

Yeah.

So there weren't any really hot deals.

Other countries were negotiating.

Well, not quite.

We don't have any proof of that whatsoever.

So that was from Fox Business News.

Yes.

Fox.

Fox.

Oh boy.

Charlie Gasparino.

Yeah.

laying it out there from what he heard.

Not working out.

Bond started selling.

Not good.

Not good.

And then

the stock market took off.

Yeah, well, you know, of course, you know, it was a truth social message from Trump saying, now's a good time to buy.

Is he supposed to do stuff like that?

You know, you really can't do that.

It's very illegal.

CNBC came up to the line on that by asking Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick.

Lutnick.

Lutnick, get in here.

If Trump manipulated markets, let's listen to Cut 111 here.

Lutnick.

He also seems to be a great stockpundit, Mr. Secretary.

Earlier this morning before the pause, he put out a message saying, it's a great time to buy, and here we are.

Here we are,

much higher.

I'd always bet on Donald Trump.

Every time I'd always bet on Donald Trump.

He

also wrote DJT, which is a ticker for

his media

company.

No, no, no.

Every text he sends to me, that's his name.

But that was a great time to buy the

market, right?

Hold on a look.

Donald Trump understands that America is the greatest country.

We are the

greatest country.

We

have the capacity for incredible greatness.

But someone needs to take the shackles off.

Someone needs to let our farmers sell corn to India.

Wow.

Good answer.

No, I really do think he's drinking.

I really do.

Wow!

Oh, Howard Lutnik, I love that name.

All right, now let's listen to Caroline Levitt, who's

very young.

Okay, she's in her 20s.

I

think she's younger than me, isn't she?

No, she's 28, I

think.

I

believe

somewhere in that area.

But anyway, she thinks she knows everything about the world economy.

And so she got out there.

And let's listen to cut one 10 here.

OK.

Many of you in the media clearly missed the art of the deal.

You clearly failed to see what President Trump is doing here.

You tried to say that the rest of the world would be moved closer to China when, in fact, we've seen the opposite effect.

The entire world is calling the United States of America, not China, because they need our markets.

They need our consumers.

Oh boy, see, she knows everything.

You know, don't ever call into question her ability to perform math live on the spot.

She's right on top.

All right, now Jim Kramer, who,

you know,

crazy Jim.

He went nuts.

He

did

go nuts.

You know, he has his special show there.

Does he still do the destroying things?

You know, I haven't watched it in a while, but I think he still does that.

All right, cut 112.

Let's listen to Jim Kramer's version.

OK.

You have no Senate.

You have no justice department.

You have no press.

You do have social media.

No academics, no press.

They took the

academics up very early.

It's interesting what you're describing here.

It doesn't really sound like the United States of America to me.

Not the one I've known.

I didn't say that.

All right.

Well, you know what?

I don't want to move on to that.

Let's get back to business

here.

Why?

You don't think that that's

salient?

No, I do, but it, you know.

Well, because you asked me why I'm waiting for the president.

The president is very powerful right now.

We're

powerful in my life.

Yes.

It would be amazing if the president said, you know what?

We're done for now.

We're done.

But he came out and said, now it's Farm's turn.

So as long as this keeps up, and he said he doesn't care about Wall Street, he cares about Main Street, at a certain point, if you care about Main Street, then you do actually care about the 401k.

Well, a recession

actually hurts Main Street.

Well,

yes.

Yes.

Main Street.

It hurts us.

We're Main Street.

And it does hurt us.

Yes.

So yeah, this is not good.

You know I mentioned I had stocks and everything I know I went into the bonds area because it's safer

Well,

well that's safe anymore Apparently not.

No,

it's a lot of uncertainty.

Yeah, that's it.

That's what it's happening We're gonna continue this after the break.

You have

another one and a couple of cuts for you We'll have that and again a little later on this hour when you hear Peter Frampton music You can text us the word Peter and you'll be in the mix for a pair of tickets

appearing at the Riverside Theater in Milwaukee, April 15th.

Coming up on Johnny Gordy.

What are you talking about?

Come on.

Oh man, I'll tell you.

721.

I'm getting flashbacks from

the old days in rock radio.

92.7 WMDX.

It's John and Gordy in the morning.

And you're flashing, but while you're flashing back.

I am flashing back.

I am sorry.

Sorry about that.

Let's go to Brittany Merlot, our seven media meteorologist.

Good morning, Brittany.

How are you

Brittney Merlot

doing?

Hey, guys.

Hey, we're doing great doing great.

You know, it's

a it was a little rainy this morning, but it doesn't seem to be raining anymore here.

Does it?

No, I don't think so.

We had a little fog here and there.

But what's what's the outlook for today, Brittany?

What do you think?

Brittney Merlot

Yeah, so that fog is going to linger till about noon in some places, then that's going to kick on out of here and clear out as those winds start to get a little feisty or so.

We've got nothing but clouds today.

Unfortunately, it's still going to be a darker, drearier kind of day.

A few spotty sprinkles are possible this afternoon.

No major showers, nothing wild.

Good.

High temperatures stay on those cooler side too.

Only making it to the mid forties today, but by tomorrow.

The clouds will be gone.

They're going to be clearing overnight tonight.

We'll see the sunshine to start the day tomorrow and climb right back to those mid fifties.

So a comfortable day tomorrow that continues into our Saturday as well, still bright and beautiful.

Highs hitting about 60.

And now Sunday, it looks like we'll be into those upper sixties still, partly sunny with a chance of showers, though, that want to move through potentially at night.

So a gorgeous weekend, long story short.

Yeah.

I think I'm gonna put the gazebo back up.

I think it's time.

Yeah, I Didn't hear anything about any snow.

No

And I think

your neighbor should stop over and drop some of those beads

They've

got Mardi Gras beads all over their yard

You know you're right you know I have to talk to them about that so things are looking you know once we get through today It's looking better and better, right?

Brittney Merlot

Yeah, they really are honestly, and I'm glad that this is timing out on the weekend because we do drop a little bit cooler early next week.

So Soak it up while we have it.

All right.

Is there any snow in the forecast for next week and the long-range forecast?

Are we done with snow?

Come

Brittney Merlot

on, I know I'm putting you on the spot.

I know.

Just got to go out on a limb here.

All right, all right.

Brittney Merlot

There's a teeny tiny chance, but it's minimal.

Okay.

All right.

Okay.

Yeah.

Very good, Brittany.

Thank you very much.

You have

Brittney Merlot

a

great day and we'll talk to you tomorrow.

Yeah.

See you then.

Take care.

Bye, guys.

It's Brittany Merlot, our WMDX meteorologist.

I'm going to remind everybody that the Verlo mismatch sale is back.

You know, this is the biggest sale of the year, but it's only going on a few more days.

Mismatch on the outside, same Verlo long-lasting craftsmanship on the inside.

So get in there now and save an additional 10% off of every single mattress and box spring.

Wake up and sleep better with Verlo mattress of Madison, two locations, east side and west side.

And go to verlo.com for more information.

Just want to remind everybody we're going to be on Pete Schwab's show tonight.

Yes, we are.

Doing our movie picks, right?

Yes.

The popcorn pick.

Yep, our favorite movie.

Yeah.

Right, we're going to both be on a show.

Yes.

Yeah.

Bryce Cassie from our home.

You guys are going to bring up...

a bowl of Rover Out 1 popcorn with you?

We should.

We used to have a

fake... That was our sponsor for a long time.

We had a fake bowl of popcorn.

It was fake?

It wasn't

real?

We had a fake bowl of popcorn that we used as a prop.

I wonder what happened to that.

I don't know.

It was really cool.

Yeah.

Because

it had, it

just the top was,

just the top was the popcorn.

And underneath was a secret compartment.

Right.

So you could hide things.

I don't want to say at this point.

Somebody swiped it from us, I think.

Hey,

let's get back to, you know, Trump backing down, you know, the markets seem to be melting down.

And then, of course, he made the strategic decision to back away from those tariffs, at least for a few countries, not so much China, but everybody else, because they're just flocking in to make a deal with them.

I don't think so.

Anybody

would make a deal with this guy.

It's

crazy bad.

Yeah, they deserve

whatever they get.

But, you know, we have Democrat representative Stephen Horsford.

He grilled Jameson Greer now he has a lot to do with you know Balancing these tariffs out a little bit here or Trump and and and and and and Horstford wasn't having it.

He wasn't taking the stuff from this administration So let's go to cut 108 and hear what how that discussion turned out.

Okay,

if it's not market manipulation, what is it?

Is this market manipulation no

Why not?

If it was a plan, if it was always the plan, how is this not market manipulation?

It's not market manipulation, sir.

Then what is it?

Because it sure is not a strategy.

We're trying to reset the global trade system.

And what has that

done?

How have you achieved any of that?

But to enact enormous harm on the American people.

Yes.

Which was our concern from the very beginning.

Terrorists are a tool.

It can be used in the appropriate way to protect U.S.

jobs and small businesses.

But that's not what this does.

So if it's not market manipulation, what is it?

Who's benefiting?

What billionaire just got richer?

And all the while, there are not even any Republicans left in this...

This hearing they all left because they don't want to defend this.

But meanwhile, the speaker is rushing to the floor to pass a budget reconciliation to screw America by passing the biggest tax cut in history on the backs of the American people.

WTF.

Who's in charge?

Wow.

Because it sure doesn't look like it's the trade representative.

You just got the rug pulled out from under you.

There you go.

Representative horse for yeah, yeah

seems like it has the dynamic of a parent talking to their child about like something wrong that they did But they clearly don't yet see what they did wrong.

They're just trying to defend what they did anyway.

We're

just

trying to change the world order.

That's all There's something a problem.

We didn't have I keep saying that what we're just trying to save America and America was doing damn well

At the time that Trump was elected in, we were like the preeminent power.

Our prices were coming down.

The country was just rolling ahead.

Other countries depended on us all around the world to be there for them.

Trade was fine.

We were buying good products cheaply.

Expensively, whichever way we wanted to go, we had our options, we had our choices.

Nothing was wrong.

And now they're trying to change the way everybody works.

Well, they left to the tariffs now, and everything's fine, except they didn't lift them on China.

And again, those tariffs are only on a 90-day pause.

Oh, yeah.

So now we're still, oh, now what's going to happen?

Yes.

There's still a certainty.

We have

90 days to worry.

OK.

Thank you.

Coming up the Midwest Farm Report, we'll be back with more of John and Gordy in the morning right here on WMDX.

This portion of the show is being brought to you by Smiling Eddie's Auto Repair Shop.

If your car is having engine trouble, bring it on down to Smiling Eddie's, where this week only you'll save 20% on a free estimate.

Ah,

Smiling Eddie.

He smiles all the time nobody really knows why I bet he's investing in the stock market probably so

maybe you should talk to him about your headlight issue

Smiling yet.

He would know would know yes.

He would have that it is 735

and 35 degrees highs in the mid 40s today with the clouds hanging around.

Hey, the WMDX newsletter comes out every Thursday.

That would be today.

You haven't gotten it yet.

Well, just go to WMDXradio.com.

That's WMDXradio.com.

We have really souped up that website.

If you haven't been there lately, it's got everything about anything

on

WMDX and lots of cool stuff there.

Events and

and all behind the scenes information there.

So go to wmdxradio.com.

Okay?

All right, sounds good.

All right.

Real good.

Okay, we got it.

We're talking about Trump backing away from the tariffs because everybody was starting to panic, including the billionaires.

Why

would the billionaires

count?

They count more because, you know, they're worried about their money.

They put this guy in to make money and suddenly they're losing tons of it.

Well how many billions do you really need anyway?

I mean, you're a billionaire so you'll lose a billion or two.

Don't

forget, it's all gonna come back to us eventually once it trickles down.

So we don't want them to lose any money.

Yeah, okay.

There is that pain initially.

So as long as we can endure the pain and get used to it, then if there's a sale or something, then we get in on the reduced price.

We've got to wait for sales.

But anyway, let's get to a compilation of cuts here, kind of giving you the idea of what this whole mess has been about.

This is cut 115.

So let's just listen to this quickly and see how things kind of twisted and turned.

Mr. Trade Representative, are you aware that the terrorists have been paused?

I am, yes.

When were you made aware of that?

Well, I understood the decision was made a few minutes ago.

There's no strategy.

You just found out three seconds ago sitting here.

We saw you.

This was driven by the president's strategy.

He and I had a long talk on Sunday, and this was his strategy all along.

Oh, yeah.

You're thinking about why you decided to put a 90-day pause.

Well, I thought that people were jumping a little bit out of line.

They were getting yippy, you know?

They were getting a little bit yippy, a little bit afraid.

Yippie.

Now yippie.

You know what yippie

means.

It's a golf term.

Well, that's what I heard somebody explain on CNN.

Yippie.

I've never, you know, I used to golf.

I don't golf anymore, but I've never heard this term yippie.

But somebody said it was like when you're just off the green, so you have to chip it just a little bit to get on the green and you can't use your putter.

But that's yippie.

I don't know.

It doesn't seem that that fits.

No.

Into this.

It really doesn't.

And who knows what Trump meant.

And because we know that Trump drops the ball and doesn't actually have to put back

onto the

green.

Yeah, he never.

We never actually see him golfing all the way through the holes, you know, we don't.

But they say he kicks the ball.

Yeah, I know he does anything he

wants

and he wins.

He wins every tournament he enters.

That's somehow it's really somehow that works for

him.

There's something very sick about that.

It's very odd.

Okay.

Reporter Brian Krasenstein wrote this, the White House caves on most tariffs then calls it the art of the deal.

You can't make this up.

These are the most dangerously incompetent people I've ever seen, disrupted global supply chains, sent American companies into a panic, tank global markets, alienated key allies, triggered retaliatory tariffs, then

pulled back and declared victory.

And remember a big win.

Remember the the the three points that Trump lives by.

And you can never admit defeat is one of the points.

Right.

Yeah.

Let's see.

Do we have that handy?

I know that Sam is looking this up.

Mm hmm.

He's he's checking.

Yeah.

Well, it'd be nice if you named it something that I

could easily search for.

The apprentice.

Apprentice.

Put apprentice in.

Yeah, never admit defeat.

Denial.

Yes, deny, deny, deny.

Alright.

And then declare a victory.

And that's what he's done, right?

All in declared victory.

Well, we've covered it pretty much.

All right, let's get to the sneaker prices.

Now we know that Trump had his own sneakers.

Yeah, I remember

that.

Gold-plated sneakers.

Yes.

Which was just grotesque.

How did that do?

I don't think he

sold many of those at all, but did you ever find that cut?

Yeah

Stop looking for it.

Stop

looking for it.

Don't do it.

Let's let's check out this is cut 105 and they're talking about the price of sneakers going up This is a footwear distributor and retail retailer Talking about this.

You know, that's what he's talking about too.

Let's

listen spot here, but it's ballparking if

$100 pair of sneakers costs $100 made currently, whether it's in China, Vietnam or Indonesia.

If it was made in the U.S., how much would that pair of sneakers cost?

$300

or $400 easily.

In fact, we've even just looked at the tariffs coming to place tonight at midnight.

$150 pair of running shoes will be $230, right?

And that's coming from overseas sources without U.S.

tariffs.

That's just with the tariffs.

Yeah.

Folks will feel that, Matt Priest.

Yeah, you think?

Wow,

so sneakers were made in the US.

They'd cost $300 or $400?

Yeah, wow.

That's amazing.

All

right, now the Daily Show started covering this as well.

And here's what happens when Fox News is covering the meltdown.

It's cut 103.

And I guess this is something I noticed as well.

Let's hear it.

And when did the right become so chill?

Aren't you the Bud Light's turning my kids trans, folks?

But economic meltdown and you're getting all

philosophical?

Losing money costs you nothing.

This is just the reality of life.

Like, were you young and dumb?

How much money did you lose?

Everyone loses money.

Everyone loses money.

It costs you nothing.

Except money.

Losing money costs you money.

That's the definition of losing money.

And I know you go, well, it's going to be worth it to get the character, the country that we want back again.

But we have no fucking idea if that's actually what's going to happen.

You're all acting like the tariff regime is a tried and true remedy.

Oh, of course.

This is the medicine that's always prescribed.

Except the last time it was tried 100 years ago, we had a great

depression.

So how does this work?

It's just a big game of economic operation.

Is he sticking things in, trying to take out tariffs?

It's like, you know, when you're my age, you got to get a colonoscopy.

You need a full colonic, like, to feel better.

You

know what I mean?

Rapists can kill somebody in the wrong dosages, but in the right dosages, that can be very healthy for the patient.

So everyone relax.

This is merely a routine rat poison colonoscopy.

By the way, what's the right dosage of rat poison?

Oh, if you get enough of it, your headache will be gone.

And by the way, I mean, it's slightly off topic, but the colonoscopy guy, his name is John Tobacco.

That's a witness protection thing, ain't it?

Your new profession is, you do anus metaphors on Newsmax.

That's a problem.

That's

Jon Stewart from Daily Show.

Yeah,

and

then they followed it up with this.

This is cut 113?

Okay.

Was it?

Okay.

Let's try it.

Really roll back.

Yo, what's up?

Finance fan.

A lot of volatility in the stock market this week, so I'm hopping on here to help people who only watch Fox News understand what's happening in the market.

Let's get started.

Real simple formula.

When the stock market is down, Fox News only covers trans people playing sports.

That's how you know we're bleeding red.

I've looked at thousands of hours of this, and let me give you a tip.

The more obscure the sport, the worse the market is doing.

If they're covering a trans swimmer in the NCAA, normal market territory, no need to panic.

But this week, we got a trans fencer at the Cherry Blossom Tournament in Maryland.

A lot of Fox coverage on this, which means the Dow is down a full.

4%.

But just yesterday, they're covering a trans athlete playing disc golf.

That's a pretty obscure sport.

It's iPhone footage.

There's Frisbee's 7% market dip minimum.

Doesn't stop there.

The market's got worse.

We got trans pool players, and not swimming pools, like pool table pools, like what you find in bars or rich kids' basements.

That means 9% dip.

But wait, this was in the UK.

This is an obscure sport, not in America.

We're down 12%.

Can it get worse?

Yes, the footage was from six months ago, so that's a minimum 15% dip bear market territory.

If you see Fox News covering a trans person kicking a hacky sack, the market is cratering.

20% dip.

In France, 30% dip.

The footage is from two years ago, full blown depression.

Stay smart out there, folks.

You boy cost.

See?

You know,

that's what happens on the Fox News if you're watching.

Amazing.

Yeah.

I think they took the ticker off for a while, didn't

they?

Yes, they did.

They showed that.

Yeah, the other day.

Yeah.

But now that ticker's back, I'm sure.

Yeah.

That's

one way of thinking about Fox covering the disaster at Wall Street, right?

But this kind of happened right out of nowhere health rose over apparently someplace because Fox News actually told the truth about the tariffs You're kidding it happened, you know, and there is a recording of it

I understand.

Cut 104, and we're gonna play it for you.

This is a unique experience, so please mark this down on your calendars.

Fox News told the truth, all

right?

There's an item in the New York Post that we all have in front of us.

It's an exclusive story, and it talks about how, with these 104% tariffs and went into effect, we think that China is gonna have to pay for it, but it tells a story of a special...

needs toy importer.

And when the tariffs went into effect at midnight, his tariff, he's been paying a tariff because he gets stuff from China, $26,000 a year.

His tariff bill went from $26,000 at midnight to $346,000.

And that's money he's got.

He's got to come.

going to have to come out of his pocket.

It sounds like he's going to have to go ahead and close down part of his business.

He tried to make toys in the United States, but the tariff on that his most popular item went from zero to $17 at midnight.

And what he told the New York Post is people don't understand the tariff situation.

They think just foreign countries are paying for the tariffs.

That's not true.

Half of the tariffs are being paid for by US based companies.

So when you look at the big numbers and they look good, just remember that according

According to this guy, half of the small businesses and half of the tariffs are being paid by

Americans.

Supporting tariffs and on and on and back and forth and off.

Yeah, so why don't we listen to this?

I don't think we

have no we don't

We

do have time for us to congratulate our winner.

Yes, let's bring that tickets John yeah, I

think our winner yesterday was named John too

There's just a lot of John's in the world.

It's a different John.

But congrats today to John, who was the first to text in when we played Peter Frampton earlier.

Excellent.

Well, we'll have one more pair of tickets to Peter Frampton to give away for tomorrow.

He's appearing April 15th at the Riverside Theater in Milwaukee.

You're looking at the text here.

Yeah,

well, that picture of Trump on a twister game.

A twister game.

He's all

spread

out there.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Oh, yeah.

Is there somebody underneath him?

I think

there's no there's not it's the twister Matt is labeled tariffs instead of twister And the caption is Trump is not playing 3d chess.

He's just laying Yeah,

it's okay.

You

gotta see it.

Let's put that on our Facebook page.

Yeah, okay 749 we'll be back to wrap up the show and look ahead to tomorrow and maybe a couple leftovers right here on John and Gordy WMDX

Now the man is out.

Terrific, if you like eating leftovers.

Leftovers.

Leftovers.

I kept the leftovers.

The leftovers.

Just some leftovers.

Leftovers for a week and a

half.

He ain't

those leftovers.

You're no leftovers.

Leftovers.

Enjoy.

All right, well, let's try to enjoy a few of these leftovers.

And again, you know, John and Gordy, yes, are in the final stage of winning the best of Madison.

Yeah,

I'm very

optimistic you know three choices investor Madison morning duo,

and I

think that We're in the mix.

We have a we have a good chance of pulling this thing out with the help of course

our listeners of all of our listeners Yes, but you can't vote until June 1st.

I think we're up to three now, so please three list please Okay, but

you can

only handle you so I don't know

Okay.

Reminder, we're going to be on Pete Schwabba's show tonight.

Yeah.

Nightlight.

Picking our

favorite movie of all time.

Yeah.

But that, he's not going to corner me into that.

Really?

Yeah.

Because no one can pick the all time favorite movie

ever had.

I'm going to suggest a few movies that I, you know, like a handful of movies that are at the top of my list.

And then I'll select one of those.

Is that your operating theory?

That's how I'm going to do it.

Is that you're going to do it?

Yeah.

Okay.

Copycat.

Let's sit.

Are you okay?

Are you feeling all right?

You had a Charlie horse a little while ago.

Right in them.

Yeah, I thought you were going down there.

That was

crazy.

But well, you know, we sit on the very edge of the chair

because you know, the news is that important to us.

We don't know what's gonna happen next.

So we have to pay attention.

Yeah, so yeah, you're right

That's the reason right there.

Oh my

god, you're okay now.

I I'm better now.

Yes, but you know that Charlie was There

are no fun.

Suddenly we're writhing in pain.

I was worried for

you.

Wow.

It just came on.

Yeah.

All right.

Well, let's let's listen to

a few mega celebrities, you'll probably recognize the voices, okay?

I'm not gonna go and you know, Laura Ingram, you know, everybody.

So anyway, they, when Trump was elected, the stock market was high, everything looked great.

Everybody was

happy for electing Trump, but then this happened,

okay?

So we have juxtaposed each one of their comments.

So let's listen to their...

at one time, a favorable look at the economy because Trump was elected and a look at it now.

Okay.

All right, here we go.

Let's listen.

What

cut would

that be?

He doesn't

know.

Do

you

have a

number

on

there?

Yeah, you only put the first half hours cut numbers on the sheet today.

All right, well, okay.

Do

you have a number?

This is cut 85.

Oh, OK.

Let's

dial

that up.

We all saw the stock market soaring post-election.

It reached an all-time high today, 82,000.

optimism everywhere.

Just ignore the sky is falling reports in the regime press.

Tune out the breathless reporting about market gyrations.

I'm excited about the economy.

Look at the stock market.

Our rocket ship is getting ready to take off in our economy with President Trump.

We were probably overloaded with the stock market here for a while.

We went up quite a bit.

You guys want to start with good news?

The market's up 25 percent since you were one.

You tweeted this out that nobody in the media brings it up.

So I said, you know what?

I'm going to bring it up tight.

Forget the stock market for a second here.

And I have said on this program for years, it's never been my indicator in terms of the health of the economy.

The market always knows.

So the market already started to kind of have this sort of rally, this sort of Trump rally.

It's an energies and

electricity.

We have to be very, very careful about all of this.

And the notion that we have to react as Americans based on the market being down.

So what?

The stock market.

is the only

sign of life and it's only going up because everyone thinks Trump is going to win the election.

You can't really watch the stock market.

Well, okay, some contrast.

Change of

tune there.

Anybody notice?

Now what?

Yeah.

A lot of people are saying, we didn't vote for this.

A

lot of

people are saying that.

I do have cut 81 here.

And I thought I'd play that.

This is a web wisdom.

Oh boy.

So let's check it out.

I'm seeing more and more people online saying, well, I voted for Trump, but I didn't vote to lose my job.

And I didn't vote for a global trade war.

And I didn't vote for Elon Musk to run a muck in the government slashing agencies and cutting jobs.

And I didn't vote to see America's allies cast aside.

Oh, what the f*** are you talking about?

Of course you voted for that.

You were perfectly happy to see all that happen as long as it didn't happen to you.

And now that the leopard is eating your face, suddenly you've changed.

your tune will you get no sympathy from me you voted for that you wanted that so you sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labor i don't care what happens to you i just want you to feel the pain that you brought on yourself because that is the only way you can learn

yep there

it

is

now the web way you have it

Web

wisdom, I like that term that you've coined.

Nobody else says that, do they?

I've never heard anybody else.

No, I haven't heard anybody else.

Oh, web wisdom.

Just a random person saying stuff that's true.

But there's a lot of good web wisdoms out there, and I just thought we'd finally feature some of them.

They don't have

credentials.

You don't have to tell them who they are.

No

name in the media.

They just go out there and they speak their onions.

They're not a person.

That's it.

I love that phrase too.

You're so Midwestern.

Oh, I know.

Oh, you speak your onions.

But you know, I'm going

to tell you, this

was...

one of your best shows ever.

It's definitely gonna be featured in next week's newsletter.

I do not.

I do not.

Do

I really?

Because I don't believe

it,

actually, most of the days.

But today was...

Awesome.

And I think it's

because you found out yesterday afternoon that you are nominated for best of Madison radio duo.

And it went right to your head.

You're like, oh, we're the best.

We're

the best.

That's what I'm thinking.

You get a WPA nomination last year.

This year, it's best of Madison.

Blah, blah, blah.

Well, I

was a little disappointed there wasn't a cake waiting for us.

God bless it.

There are Girl Scout cookies in the kitchen.

Oh,

that's all about you.

Is there?

Well, thank you.

All right.

Well, we'll be after those cookies in just a moment.

Tomorrow, on The Big Show, we will check in with Pam Yonkey about things agricultural and food on your table.

Also, Rocker will be here with a Maxink preview, and we'll have another pair of Peter Frampton tickets to give away.

Stay with us tomorrow.

That's it for today.

Stephanie Miller is coming up next.

I can't wait.

I can't

wait to listen to what Stephanie has to say and all the little drop in she has she's stolen from me.

Yeah, she's

stolen from us.

Have a great day.

So long.
