Now from the John McKinnon Student Ice Arena, here's the radio play-by-play voice of the hockey Huskies, Dirk Hemroff.

All right.

Thank you very much, ladies and gentlemen.

Welcome from the John McGinnis Student Ice Room.

We are sitting in the Bob Olson Media Center on a Tuesday before a huge week at a Michigan Tech hockey.

Menton Mass is with us.

He's one of the assistant coaches for Bill McCulloch, getting ready for this giant weekend.

Augustana coming in undefeated.

7-0-1.

Huskies not too shabby themselves at 6-2.

A week off coach.

Was it a good week off?

Was it a good time for a week off?

Those week offs are always

You know, you always look at those as either really good timing or really bad timing.

How was this one in your thoughts?

Yeah, first off, thanks for having me on.

I think, you know, for our case, the guys had kind of been going throughout all of September for the most part.

And then you kind of get into games where it kind of trends towards, you know, six, seven weeks in a row is probably where you probably started to see a little bit of a decline in performance.

So I think for us, it came at a really good time, obviously having to go down to Ferris.

It's a tough place to play.

It's a small barn.

Coach Riley down there has him playing super hard and dedicated to their structure.

So it was a heavy weekend for us.

Probably definitely some bumps and bruises and a long road trip back.

So definitely a good off weekend for us.

A little bit of a reset for some guys.

Obviously, like you said, coming into a huge weekend here for Sagastana.

We have that loss at Ferris State to kind of leave that bad taste in our mouth for a couple of weeks.

I guess that can be a little bit of a motivating factor, right?

Yeah, I think absolutely.

the guys certainly weren't satisfied with it.

You know, you look at the game, I think we certainly had chances and ultimately didn't capitalize.

But at the end of the day, you know, our guys are coming to the rink every day, they're excited to be here.

And I think, you know, getting that off week, like I said, a little bit of a chance to reset and clear the mine and get the body feeling right, you know, going into obviously a huge CCH weekend.

So when you have that weekend off, do you have a little bit more play area as far as you can work on maybe some

different things that you couldn't work on when you're already...

in the week of another series?

Yeah, absolutely.

I think you dive into the video and you can look at what are we doing well?

What do we need to improve on?

You can even go a little bit further with guys individually.

And I think we did a good job this past week of getting a lot of individual touches with guys both on the ice and through video.

So I think that was a good thing in terms of showing up some individual tendencies with guys and trying to give guys a little bit more confidence in some areas.

you know, kind of leading into this week, kind of getting back into our, you know, our structure, our work practices here on Tuesday and Wednesday and, you know, shoring up some system stuff that we think will allow us to be successful this weekend.

When we talked about Augustana and their undefeated record, and they hosted Northern Michigan this past week, and it's not very often you see 12 goals scored by a team in one game.

They certainly have a tremendous amount of offensive ability.

What are some of the things that you've been able to see?

without giving too much away with some of the things you've been able to see from coach Raboyne's team.

Yeah, I think Rabs and his staff, they do a really good job down there.

They have their guys playing hard.

They have them playing the right way.

They're disciplined.

They're one of those teams where they don't really ever beat themselves, I guess you could say.

They're going to play structured.

They're going to play disciplined.

They're going to play to their identity.

And they're going to kind of wait for the other team to make mistakes.

And obviously, as you've seen throughout the first eight games for them, they've been able to capitalize on those mistakes and have some really timely goals.

performances to get them to where they are now.

So it's going to be a really tough test for us this weekend.

Like I said, Rabs and the guys down there, they do a great job with making sure that their guys are ready to play every night.

For them, it doesn't matter.

They're up 10, 12, 0, or they're tied 0-0 or down 2-0.

They're going to be playing the same way.

So I think for us, it's just about playing to our identity, playing incredibly structured discipline, being predictable to each other.

Those are certainly things that allow us to have success this weekend.

games in a way games are always going to be a little bit different but as a member of a coaching staff for a division one hockey team is the ideal situation is that your team is

consistent, whether it be at home or on the road, knowing there's going to be nuances at home with the fans behind you and stuff like that.

But you're trying to get that consistency night after night, weekend after weekend.

Yeah, absolutely.

Hit the nail on the head.

Obviously, in terms of going on the road and travel and staying at hotels, it's going to be a little bit different.

But everyone on our team wants to play Pro Hockey, and they're going to be playing 30, 40 road games a year.

So I think for us, we talk about

bringing that effort, that energy, that enthusiasm, that attention to detail every single day, whether it's a road weekend, a home weekend, whether it's a Monday practice, whether it's a Saturday practice on a bye week, you know, for us, it's it's about getting better every day.

It doesn't matter, you know, whether it's a game week, whether it's a bye week, it's about showing up to the rink, you know, every day and getting a little bit better, right?

Because, you know, if we're not getting better, some team, you know, in Colorado or out East or, you know, in the Midwest with us is certainly

getting better.

So that's kind of our mentality with it is just having that standard every day, you know, whether it's a game, whether it's a, you know, a workday practice or whether it's a morning skate or an individual skill skate.

Benton Mass,

one of the assistant coaches for the Michigan Tech Huskies, is with us on this Tuesday morning edition of the Michigan Tech Huskies Hockey Radio Show.

Giant weekend coming up.

Augustana coming to town.

They are undefeated.

Friday and Saturday night, 707.

Friday night, 607 on Saturday.

And all kinds of great promotions going on this weekend, including Kids Day, put on by Marketplace Foods.

We'll talk about that more in this half hour.

We'll come back with Assistant Coach Benton Mass in just a little bit.

Talk a little bit more about what's it going to take

to get some points against this Augustana team.

And also coming up later on in the show, we have a big defenseman, Lucas Brenton, joining us as well.

It's all part of the Michigan Tech Huskies Hockey Radio Show exclusively here on MIX 93 WKMJ.

Our family likes to keep busy.

Between hockey and volleyball dominating our weekends and all the travel that comes with it, we still make sure to squeeze in some outdoor adventures.

We need insurance simplified, and that's what Turbo provides.

Welcome back to the Michigan Tech Huskies hockey radio show on mix 93 We are coming to you from the Bob Wilson media center and getting ready for the big weekend against Augustana You know the lines that you guys have put together Benton masses with us the assistant coach for the Huskies have been you know moving around quite a bit but the one line that Always seems to be coming back together at some point in the game is Tom Leppa Carson Bernie and then help me out here

Matthew, yeah, van der Klum who started out started starts often with different people talk a little bit about those three guys and What have you guys been trying to do with pulling them apart every once in a while?

Yeah Well, I think you look back to even last year obviously Maddie and Burns were freshmen I think Tom did a great job kind of bringing them along and and into the fold and playing the right way so you know obviously

You know, our staff has a ton of confidence in those three.

We know, you know, whether they're split up, we can go back to them.

You know, if we need them in certain situations, obviously a lot of nights they're going to match up against teams tops lines and, you know, play in tough situations where, you know, they probably get the short out of the stick a little bit in terms of defensive zone faceoff starts and what have you.

But, you know, for us, it's for them, they play the right way.

If you look at them for checking, they're always got too hard on it.

The third's always above.

They read off of each other really well.

They're able to sustain ozone time as well.

But on the defensive side of it, they match up really well against team's top lines.

They make it hard for guys, top guys, to play their game every night.

So a ton of confidence in them, whether they're playing together or apart.

And I think that's kind of why you see them sometimes apart.

And then you get into certain situations, and all of a sudden they're on the ice together again.

Lucas Brenton coming up in just a little bit here on the show coaching.

And we talked to him yesterday.

excited about coming into this program.

Obviously a varied background with East Coast, WHL, U Sports.

Can you talk a little bit about him and what are you looking to get out of a big player like Lucas Brenton?

Yeah, Brent says he's awesome.

I think the first thing about him, like you said, with the very background is he's kind of been through it more than some of the other guys in terms of playing pro and playing in different situations, different schedules.

So I think his mentality and his preparation is top-notch.

It's certainly something where, you know, we've talked to him about continuing to bring guys into the fold with that about how you treat your body, how you're doing things off the ice, your recovery, your rest.

That's a huge part of it just because, you know, he's been through it and he's, you know, he's really dialed in with that.

And then I think on the ice, you know, you look at last year, we lose a couple big, you know, physical defensemen and Jack Anderson and Joe Proudy and kind of trying to fill that void a little bit, right?

You know, he skates really well.

Obviously, he's incredibly physically defense hard.

You know, I think just, you know, you see a guy that's six four on the ice and it kind of puts a little bit of fear in some guys on the opposing team.

So he does a great job with that.

You know, he's been playing with with parks for most of the year.

I think they've done a really good job reading off each other and whatnot.

They have a little bit of, you know, a history going back to the Western League together.

So they've been they've been really doing really well for us again, kind of like the the Lepa Bernie Van B line in terms of getting the short end of the stick with with some D zone face offs and

matching up against teams top line a lot of nights.

You know, they've done a great job.

Brent has been awesome.

Obviously, he's coming in and wearing a letter.

So I think that certainly says something about, you know, what the guys think about him and the presence he has in our locker

room.

Let's talk a little bit about goal-tending.

Owen Bartoskiewicz is a guy that, you know, he's out there every game.

Most of the fans know him and maybe don't know the others as well.

But you've got some good goal-tending behind him that are pushing, oh, and I would imagine, with Joe Costanzo, who's a new Husky, Ryan Menza,

has been around for a while and of course

goaltender Lee who's such an important part of this team.

Can you talk about all four goaltenders and what they've been like in practice?

Yeah, absolutely.

I think, you know, like you kind of touched on, there's a lot of depth in the goaltending room.

You know, I think they get along really well together.

Zach does a really good job with them in terms of getting them, you know, out there for individual ice time as well.

But I think it's, you know, it's been good.

Obviously, Ryan's kind of been through it in both roles.

He came in, you know, halfway through a season and, you know, was kind of starting some games.

And for us, he brings it every day in practice.

He pushes Bart.

He pushes Joey.

And I think that's a really good thing.

And then you look at Joey, right?

He's come from the Ontario Hockey League.

Been a starter for, I think, it was three or four years.

So he's played a lot of minutes.

He's seen a lot of pucks, which I think is as good, right?

And you look at it now, he's kind of coming in.

And he's getting to learn from Bart about what it takes to be a number one in the NCAA every day.

And it's tough.

And I think if you look back,

on Bart's career too, right at the beginning of it.

He obviously had some ups and downs and kind of worked his way through it.

So I think, you know, with Joey here too, it's certainly one of those situations where you kind of work through it early on and then you're able to reap the rewards later on in your career.

Benton Mass is with us, one of the assistant coaches for the Huskies here on the Michigan Tech Huskies Hockey Radio Show.

What kind of games are you expecting this weekend?

Are you expecting hard nose, lots of skill, a little mix of everything?

What do you think?

Yeah, I think a little mix of everything.

You know, like we

kind of touched on with Augustana.

They're super structured.

They're not going to beat themselves.

They play the right way every game, whether they're up 10-0 or whether they're down or whether they're tied.

So I think for us, I think you'll see similar games to last year in the winter carnival when they were up here.

Those were probably two of the best games of the year for us.

But in terms of two teams that we want to play the right way, they want to play the right way.

I think we both play similar styles in terms of wanting to play fast and transition fast and obviously play

in the offensive zone and create through that.

But both teams are also pretty structured in terms of defensive zone and limiting chances and limiting great A's.

So for me, it's two teams in the CCHA that are hopefully going to be near the top at the end of the year.

It should be an outstanding weekend.

What about special teams?

I know we want to get better on the power play, don't we, coach?

Yeah, I think it's both folds.

We talked about it this week over the bye week in terms of our power play

to step up a little bit.

Our penalty kill needs to step up a little bit.

You look at the Ferris game on Saturday.

They were able to kill one off at the end of the first.

Probably changes not just the score of the game, but kind of the attitude going into the second period.

So I think it's on both groups.

I think we've had two really, a good week and another week coming up here in terms of switching some things around on both and kind of seeing what we want to see.

And now it's about the guys going out and executing, I think, at the end of the day.

They know what they need to do.

they're in those positions for a reason.

So, you know, you kind of give them the blueprint and then it's about them going out there and executing and making plays on both ends of it.

Coach, thanks for your time.

We really appreciate you coming up here today and have a great rest of the week of practice and looking forward to the games on Friday and Saturday.

Thanks, Derrick.

Always great talking to you.

Assistant coach Benton Mass on the Michigan Tech Huskies Hockey Radio Show.

We have got Lucas Brenton coming up right after the break.

His comments with us from yesterday and much more on the Michigan Tech Huskies Hockey Radio Show right after these.

This is Coke Zero Sugar.

Could I be the best Coke ever?

Try and taste with your ears.

Hear those bubbles.

Imagine them tingling on your tongue.

Fizzy deliciousness.

Listen to that cascading liquid.

A mouth-watering waterfall.

Irresistibly tasty.

Zero sugar.

Crisp, refreshing, and ice cold.

Is Coke Zero Sugar the best Coke ever?

Try and decide.

Welcome back to the Michigan Tech Huskies hockey radio show.

Our special guest today is number seven, Lucas Brenton, one of the newer Huskies on the team.

And Lucas, you know, we look at your six four height measurements on the stat sheet there.

It seems like

you're more than that.

Is that pretty accurate?

Yeah, I think I think six four is pretty accurate.

Um,

from from the latest time I got measured, you know, it could be six, five, but I'm not exactly positive.

So six, four will call it.

It's nice having you on this team.

Can you talk a little bit

about what it's been like for you the first couple of months as a Husky?

Yeah, it's awesome.

I mean.

the team here and the guys and the coaching staff is unbelievable.

Like you said, I've only been here for a couple months, but, you know, they've taken me in and it's just been such an easy transition.

And I think, uh, Mux did a great job of kind of just integrating me into this group.

And yeah, I'm really enjoying it.

So

you've had, you've got quite a varied past already.

Played at youth sports.

You played WHL.

You've played East Coast.

Talk a little bit about those stops and, um, you know, how they've kind of

made you a better player to come in.

Yeah, absolutely.

I mean, uh,

My WHL career was entirely in Moose Shaw, and I was lucky enough to win a championship there at 20, and then I signed pro and got to play full year in ECHL, and I feel like that was huge for my development, just, you know, seeing how guys treat themselves as being pro and kind of the habits and details you have to have, and then I decided to go back home and...

pursue an education.

And it was great to play back home and be with my family and living at home again, which I haven't got to for probably five years.

So that was a great experience.

And then, obviously, I was lucky enough to get offered to play here.

And it's just been so great.

What did you know about Michigan Tech?

Or did you know anything about Michigan Tech?

What was the whole

recruiting process?

Yeah, I mean,

Tyler reached out to me during my year and used sports there.

And actually, Katelyn Parker, I've known for a while.

I played with him in Moose Draw.

So I reached out to him and he had nothing but good things to say.

And then obviously a couple other W.H.L.

players on this team that I could kind of reach out to and talk to.

And they all said it was a great spot to play.

And you know what, they've all been right so far.

Lucas Brenton is with us.

So Lucas, we talk about your height and your size and your kind of shut down mentality back there.

But

how do you describe your play in general at this level?

I feel like I play a hard physical game.

I was born with the opportunity to be a little bit taller than most guys, so I try to put that to my advantage with my reach and just my physicality.

And yeah, like you said, shut down, playing a shutdown role, I feel like that's where my priority lies is making sure we don't get scored on.

What has it been like for you playing in front of the home crowd here?

It's awesome.

I mean, this crowd is unbelievable, especially the student section there.

Every night, it's just, you know, they show up and they support us and they got the band going.

And yeah, I couldn't ask for anything more.

So a huge weekend to play in an undefeated August and a team.

What are your thoughts going into this weekend?

Yeah, it's definitely a huge weekend.

And like you said, it's it's in our home barns barn.

So we got an opportunity here to really make some noise.

And you know what?

I feel our team has

as we're in a good spot and we feel responsible that we gotta get two wins this weekend.

All right, last question, family, mom and dad, brother, sister, all fans of hockey.

Talk a little bit about

them if you

could.

Yeah, I mean, they're awesome.

I love them a lot and I miss them.

I got into hockey young with my brother.

two years older than me so we kind of battled out at a young age and you know maybe that's where I get a little bit of the physicality from but yeah my brother sister my mom and dad have always been a huge support to me coming out to my games watching them at home texting me calling me so yeah I got nothing but love for them and I appreciate them

a lot.

Right now, I'm holding a perfectly ice-cold Coors Light.

You know how I know it's the perfect temperature?

Because the mountain on the can is blue, and also it's really cold.

Every Coors Light is cold filtered, cold-loggered, and cold-packaged.

Notice how many times I said cold?

Three times.

It's that cold.

So make sure the mountain on your can of Coors Light is blue, because that means it's ready to enjoy.

Go Huskies!

Welcome back here on MIX 93 WKMJ.

Drew Kenbrook with you on our Michigan Tech Huskies Hockey Radio Show.

The Huskies taking on the Vikings in a big matchup at the CCHA this Friday and Saturday night.

Remember the game time?

7 0 7 Friday night, 6 0 7 on Saturday and a giant football game too.

We've got four ranked teams, nationally ranked teams, playing this weekend up at Michigan Tech and plus we've got some great volleyball action too.

But are you talking about four ranked teams on Michigan Tech?

and Augustana ranked in the top 20, Augustana in the top 10.

And of course, Michigan Tech and Davenport in football playing at noon on Sunday as well.

If you can't be there for that, we'll have that broadcast for you on MIX 93.

A big matchup tonight in Michigan Tech volleyball as the Huskies will host the Wildcats in Northern Michigan trying to get back at Northern for the Huskies lost earlier in the season.

And this is a big one here too because this game could

literally determine who hosts a quarterfinal GLIAC matchup next Wednesday.

So that's how big that is tonight.

It's a whiteout too, so wear white if you can to the game tonight.

Again, that's Michigan Tech volleyball Tuesday night against Northern Michigan at the SDC varsity gym.

And now we were talking about Marketplace Foods Kids Day, right?

Marketplace Foods Kids Day is coming up this Saturday.

There are three games that...

They are getting away free tickets for Michigan Tech football against Davenport.

Huge game.

Michigan Tech volleyball and Michigan Tech hockey against Augustano all on November 7th.

Now the giveaway for those tickets is tomorrow at four in the afternoon at Marketplace Foods, formerly Econo Foods, formerly Tottix Marketplace Foods.

And yeah, the ticket giveaway will start at four tomorrow.

So it's a first come first served situation.

And this is a great

opportunity especially those with big families that you know maybe too expensive to bring everybody to every game this is your chance to get some free tickets for the kids these are youth tickets that means they're good for three year olds to 18 year olds and there is a restriction on the amount of tickets you get the first time through but if there's still some left over you might get a chance to get more but four per family and then if there's some more again after the line

goes down, you might be able to get some more free tickets too.

And for the hockey tickets, you'll actually get a hockey ticket voucher.

And the voucher can be brought up into the FTC ticket office and you get to pick out the kid's seats and get your free tickets that way.

It's such a great promotion, a great thing that Marketplace Foods has done for over 20 years with Michigan Tech Athletics.

We'll be on the air tomorrow, starting at 3.30 until, you know, just...

reminding everybody that the ticket giveaway starts at four at Marketplace Foods.

The Marketplace Foods people will be there.

We'll have people from Michigan Tech Athletics and the ticket office there.

It's a grand old time.

So make sure you stop by tomorrow.

Remember, tomorrow four o'clock.

Get there earlier than that.

They'll get in line and the ticket giveaway will start at four at Marketplace Foods and the line will start

kind of back towards the deli area there you'll see once you kind of walk in the main doors turn right and head around the store there and you'll see where the line will start there so that's tomorrow at four market place foods kids day ticket giveaway volwars is a big part of this too because volwars

hot dogs are going to be given to each and every youth that has a hockey ticket and a volleyball ticket and a football ticket that can be redeemed at each of those games.

So very exciting too to have Bowers on for that as well.

So Marketplace Foods Kids Day coming up.

We have Milk Means More Trivia this weekend as well.

Some great contests on the ice with the Little Caesars and Domino's and

Jamie Johns, all kinds of stuff going on.

So we're really excited about this weekend.

It is a very big weekend for Michigan Tech hockey, for Michigan Tech football, and for Michigan Tech volleyball, and really looking forward to it.

Okay, so the other games going on this week, first of all, Thursday night, this week's games start on Thursday night.

Nobody in the CCHA is playing with the exception of Lake Superior State.

They're playing exhibition against Maryville, and that'll be at Taffy Able Arena, but big 10, big matchup.

Wisconsin number one in the nation right now, taking on Minnesota Golden Gophers.

The Huskies will be rooting for the Gophers in that game, but that should be a nice matchup at 3M Arena at Mariucci, and that is a Thursday night contest.

Now the other matchups in the CCHA this weekend, besides Michigan Tech in Augustana, Minnesota State will be at Northern Michigan, Bemidji State will be at Bowling Green, and that will be Friday night, Michigan Tech 707 here at the Mac.

Saturday night, same

matchups for Michigan or for the CCHA and also it will be Ferris State playing Saturday night against Maryville.

So Maryville is playing two games against Lake State and then one game against Ferris State.

I believe that's how that's happening in exhibition play.

And some other big matchups this week in non-conference play.

Michigan State hosting

Boston University at Munn, Icerita.

So that's a pretty cool series going on there as well.

That's going to just about do it for our show here.

Thanks to Benton Mas, the assistant coach for the Huskies, joining us on the show here today.

Also, Lucas Brenton, the sixth for defensemen for Michigan Tech.

Where's the A on his sweater?

And where's number seven?

We'll see him this weekend back on the blue line for Michigan Tech.

We appreciate him joining us as well.

And again, tickets are available for this weekend's series.

Game time, 7 0 7, 6 0 7 on Saturday.

And don't forget Michigan Tech football and volleyball coming up as well and volleyball tonight at the SDC varsity gym.

For Sam Sears back at our studios, Dirk Embraer saying so long on this Tuesday.

Again, we'll see you at the big games this weekend against Augustana.

As for a dear friend, Holly,

goes for the larger groups or get together.

High school football teams still alive in the playoffs.

Park River Harris, Lakeland Hubbell.

Pickford, Kingsborough Nominee, Ishameen, and Nagani.

I did the Calamity and Traverse City St.

Francis game this past week and the Copper Kings lose.

I believe the final score is 34 to 12, I think.

Don't quote me on that.

Lakeland Hubbell blew out at North Central.

Jake Condon will have the Lakeland Hubbell and...

Gailert St.

Mary game a Saturday.

I don't know if it's not one or 130.

I know the MhSA wanted it 130.

I know Gailert St.

Mary requested a one o'clock start.

As soon as we get that officially from Jack Coppola, we'll pass it on to everyone in Evolve.

And the good professor we're going to bring in now, and Bill, first off, what high school football before I get your topic today about longer sports droughts and the brewers breaking one of them last week with that dramatic World Series.

Not a sweep.

Next best thing.

Five game win over.

A tap-a-day team that looked just outmatched.

What a mess we have going on in the East Grand Rapids Catholic Central.

They had an illegal player brought in.

And a team that this player played for, they called the MHSA and they kicked them out of the playoffs the day before their first game against Comstock or Woodstock, I believe.

And now the East Grand Rapids Catholic went to the legal system.

Bottom line, Bill.

They broke the MHSA rule book.

We've seen this happen in hockey.

I've been first-hand in

the

middle of some of these things in hockey.

How much of a mess is this for the MHSA?

My question to you is, what's the point of even having rules if you're not going to enforce the laws?

It's sad.

Now you've got the legal system involved.

What a mess.

It seems to be a mess with this issue.

the MSHA school that they used to transfer a player who had not met the state's full and complete residence chart.

Basically, I think what happened was, it sounds like it, last, they okayed it, and then the student enrolled in January, and the MSHA confirmed that he was eligible to play.

I guess there was another investigation in the middle of October and found that there was some question about this student.

And so they ruled 24 hours ahead that on Thursday that declared the player ineligible and forced to run a force at the Catholic Central to forfeit the game.

So it looked like a bit of a mess up somewhere along the way.

And so then

The Kent County Circuit Judge stepped in on Friday and issued a temporary restraining order that blocked the removal.

And so they rescheduled the game to Tuesday to tonight.

They play it against Comstock Park.

And then there's a hearing at the end of the week to really what's going on.

So it's kind of messed things up, because the winner of the game is going to play Barry and Spring.

This is in Division V, and the Grand Rapids, East Ketchers Central, was ranked number three.

So they put it in there.

They may actually end up in Ford Field.

They're a pretty powerful team.

So now they have to look back at the MHA SAA rules.

games can up team play in a week and uh... uh... and so there's a lot to be had in in the court may decide on friday that uh... that uh... uh... well he really was the energy at a was correct so it's uh... what a mess

well bill uh... their play tonight because that's within the rules they got the drop the update the players tonight able to play out this weekend

Number two, you're right.

He was granted eligible.

Then after the fact, they found out that there's another enrollment or transfer that wasn't met.

He broke the rule.

I've seen it firsthand, apparently.

I guess the underlying current here is, if they allow this to go on, he's going to play tonight, then if they come back again Friday and say he's an eligible, then they're heavy favorites against Comstock.

I mean, that's Comstock's four or five.

but the bottom line of the rule was broke, although he was cleared, they took some more layers off the cake, sort of say, and followed, wait a minute, now there's a black mark.

And there's a local gold tender up here that was denied the opportunity to play high school hockey, back in the last year, even this year.

So it's black and white in the rule book, but fast forward bill, just about 30, 40 seconds,

Where is this going to put MHSAA if this is allowed to happen?

What are other schools going to continue to do then?

Okay, all bets are off.

I would think, correct?

If you could, it's going to be interesting to see what happens with the rules and on this one, and how it kind of, how it, poor Buryings Springs, they won't know who they're going to play, and when they're going to play until later in the week, and maybe on Friday they'll get over.

You may get a buy.

Who knows?

We'll see what happens.

And if they end up going along with Grand Rapids, well, there's not much time for Bering Springs to prepare for them.

And when the game is going to be, so it's the interesting development this week.

Well, Bill, to be honest, Bering Springs knows who they're playing.

It's not official yet.

But Comstock is a school that I understand made this whole thing happen with finding this ineligible player.

And Comstock is, again, this team that's waiting Friday, it's not official, but if East Grand Rapids will be their opponent, probably be a Friday night, depending who the whole school is, but it's just a complete mess, that's for sure.

Well, Bill, moving forward, the Brewers Broker World Series wrote

or got a grown i should say there's a mother go to pro sports and we've been a lot of time on our last subject but give us your story about nine nine ten minutes here and uh... uh... we're on the longest sports road in all four majors possibly go ahead

though i could say that uh... last week in the walkie-talkie they they stepped up fifty seven year championship broke by winning the world series uh...

The Brewers actually originated in Seattle and played there one year before they moved to Milwaukee and started playing in 1970 in Milwaukee.

And we told the story about the Brewers and how it relates to Edmund Fitzgerald before because the group that brought them to Milwaukee included Bud Fielding, Herb Cole, and Edmund Fitzgerald Jr.

They started out in the American League, they moved to the National League in 2001.

And the door got me thinking when I talked about this 57 years, what teams have had the longest roots?

The most famous ones are the Chicago Cubs, theirs lasted from 1908 to 2016, 108 years.

And the Boston Red Sox, 186 years from 19...

18 to 2004.

So that got me looking, well, what are the other leagues?

Who holds the records for the longest routes?

And to look at baseball, it is the Cleveland Guardians.

It's 78 years.

They last won the World Series in 1948.

They've been to the World Series a couple of times, but 78 years since they've last won the World Series.

And the second one on that list is the San Diego Padres.

Theirs is 57 years.

They've never won the World Series.

It's been a couple of times, but they were an expansion team in 1969.

One of the times during the World Series, the Detroit Tigers defeated them in 1984.

Taggers won the World Series was 33 years ago.

So it's so they've got a long streak in the the National Football League.

The really the longest, you know, there's there's a few teams have never been to the never been to the Super Bowl.

But if you really look back on pro football, there's the Cleveland Browns.

is 62 years.

They won the 1964 NFL Championship.

This was before the Super Bowl, but the record is probably the Detroit Lions.

Their last championship was in 1957, 69 years ago, and they won it long before the Super Bowl.

So there's been a few teams that

Never been to the Super Bowl, and Detroit's one of them, Cleveland is one of them, and then two relatively new teams, the Houston Texans and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Buffalo Bills, it's been a while since they've won a championship, but they've been to the Super Bowl a few times, actually four times, lost every time, four times in a row in the early 90s.

Buffalo Bills last won their championship on the American Football League before the merger.

in 1965.

So it's 61 years since the bills have been there.

Well, if one looks at the National Hockey League, the Toronto Maple Leafs, it's 59 years ago.

They last won the Stanley Cup in 1967 when they defeated Montreal Canadiens.

I still remember it.

They haven't actually been to the Stanley Cup finals since 1967.

The Buffalo Sabres and the Vancouver Canucks, they were expansion teams that joined the National Hockey League in 1970 and 71, so it's 55 years for them.

At least those two teams have been to the Stanley Cup finals a couple of times since, but they're trying to make a leaf.

National Basketball Association, the Sacramento Kings pulled the longest route 75 years.

Wow.

And we look at theirs and they moved around a bit.

They started their last title was when they were the Rochester Royals in 1951, when they won the NBA championship.

Then they moved to Cincinnati, they moved to Kansas City, and then they ended up in Sacramento in

in 1985.

Number two on the list is the Atlanta Hawks, 68 years.

But they won their last championship in St.

Louis in 1958.

But they moved around a few times.

They'd been the Tri-City Black Hawks, the Milwaukee Hawks, the St.

Louis Hawks, and moved to Atlanta in 68.

So over the last time, they won the

NBA championship was 1958 when they were at St.

Louis Hawks.

And the San Diego Clippers, it's 56 years for them, they've never won.

They started out as the Buffalo Braves in 1970, ended up the San Diego Clippers, and then ended up in LA in 1984.

So to summarize it all up, if you look at the longest routes, Major League Baseball, the Cleveland Guardians, 78 years,

NFL, Detroit Lions, 69 years, NHL, the Toronto Maple Leafs, 59 years, and then the NBA, the Sacramento Kings, 75 years.

The Cleveland Guardians have the current longest streak.

It's going to be tough to break some of the Chicago Cubs record, but we probably won't be around long enough to see that, Jimmy.

The Chicago Cubs, 108 years.

There was a quick look at some of the longest routes and it was kind of nice to see that Milwaukee Brewers finally make it.

Interesting story, Jimmy.

Especially for a small market.

Well, Bill, we got about two minutes left.

Quick question, go back to this football mess downstate.

The hearings Friday and the legal system could actually say the player is ineligible.

So then the game would be forfeited, assuming East Grand Rapids wins.

If the ruling comes through where the MHSA was correct, is there another loophole they could continue to keep blocking this, I would assume?

Oh, there always is.

There always seems to be something illegal system to do it, so it's, uh... Right.

We're kind of at the end of the week.

The hearing is on Friday morning at nine o'clock, so we'll know, probably know Friday morning what the decision is, but I guess if it's in favor of the

The Michigan High School Association of Properly Experienced Springs will get a buy and then play the following weekend.

Wow, they want to get a buy necessarily, Bill.

Just say the game's going to be played tonight, so bingo, you're not going to get a buy.

Oh yeah.

The game will be played tonight and if Grand Rapids,

go ahead.

the kids play tonight then a piece from rapids wins and then the ruling of reverse friday uh... what about what a mess i think bill i'm confused about what happened at that

but we can't write a morning and will solve it and uh... jimmy

and bill high school football uh... this weekend uh... like when i will be hosting uh... gay lords say mary will have the game on wimple to be one or one thirty not officially posted yet probably a feature game in eleven player football i believe is going to be saturday
