All right, he'll join us on WRCO Sports.

Well, first of all, that Thursday night match was crazy.

From the coaching standpoint, what stands out about that win?

Well, our grit, I think, definitely stands out.

And our model this year has refused to lose.

And I think last night was definitely a testament to that.

definitely worked very hard for that win.

And we definitely refused to lose.

I mean, being down six, 11 and set five and battling back to win 15, 13 is a big one.

I mean, that's pretty exciting.

Yeah, it is.

And I think a lot of people stepped up and know you had an injured player, Carly Birchfield come in and boy, she really contributed, didn't she?

Yeah, she sure did.

I mean, we watched her in warmups and her warmup for great.

And I just kind of talked to her a little bit after warm-ups.

I said, hey, you warmed up great.

So be ready when we need you, if we need you.

And I just kind of noticed right away, I'm like, I think we need her.

I think we need that chemistry and that spark.

And she came in and did a great job.

She did exactly what she needed to do and having a couple of days off and getting healed and it worked in our favor.

Was there a turning point in that fifth set that you can circle?

Well, I think I took a time out when it was 5 to 10 and it was my last time out and I said girls this is it I said this is what we prepare for all season long This is why we're in the weight room.

This is what we work hard for and I said this is you know What big moments can happen for us if we just go out there and refuse to lose and I looked at all of them and I said I believe in you and I love you and you guys can do this and That was the turning point.

We

side it out right away and then we pushed back and I think Braille and served like six or seven serves in a row to get us the lead to 1312 and then we just held on.

We had the momentum and we just never let go of it.

We'll have more from Ry

Hill coming up in a moment from WRCO Sports.

Brian Hill joins us.

Mariah,

let's break down the matchup with Cambridge.

What do you know about them?

You know, I haven't had a chance to watch film yet.

Um, but from what I've kind of heard a little bit on paper, we're the better team.

Um, staff wise, I've gone and looked at our stats and kind of compared them to theirs.

We're definitely the better team, but you know, they're they're rolling through this sectional to just like we are.

So I think we're going to match up well.

Once I watch film and I'll know a little bit more.

I think we are bigger and I'm hoping that our experience really pulls out.

I know they have a senior setter that kind of looks like she's the leader of that team.

I checked her stats.

She's got great stats, but everything stats wise runs in our favor.

So I hope that that's a plus for us.

Do you know anything about similar opponents, people that you've played and they have?

No, we haven't played anyone similar either.

So that kind of is stuck for us too.

You know, I'm at a loss here.

I'm going to definitely try to watch some film this afternoon.

My assistant coach is watching film right now as well.

So we're just going to kind of figure out a game plan, but really it's just up to us to play our game, do what we do.

use our strengths and work really hard on our side, keep our errors low and stay positive and stay focused.

It's hard to imagine somebody being a tougher matchup than Verroqua was.

I mean, but, but you never know until you get there, do you?

Yeah, right.

We never know.

I mean, on paper, when I kind of looked at Verroqua too, it was very similar.

Um, we had played a similar, um, we had played an same opponent and we had beaten that opponent that they had lost to.

And I kind of compared Baroque to last year's mineral point team that we lost to in regional finals.

And luckily we have more experience on our side.

And I'm hoping that that experience pushes us through tomorrow too.

Well, the program has already benefited from the levels that you've gotten through, but what would it mean to the program if you could get to the next level here this year?

Man, it would mean everything.

I mean, these girls have worked so hard.

not only this year, but throughout the years.

I mean, they are true, true passionate volleyball players.

They love this game.

They love their teammates.

They have brought the culture of our program and set the standard.

And we're just really excited.

We haven't gone, we haven't had it gone to state since 2005.

And it would just mean everything to all of us, to the program, to the school, to the community.

And we're very hopeful.

I mean, we're excited and

We're running on all cylinders right now.

Yeah.

And speaking of the community, boy, what a turnout it's been for the tournament.

It's grown at every level.

And I'm guessing they've kind of inspired you to victory sometimes too, haven't they?

Yeah, absolutely.

Having a great crowd is always great.

And we were so lucky to be able to be at home all through this pole season run.

And I think we're going to have a big crowd tomorrow night.

I think everybody's going to be coming to Marshall to support us.

The game got moved up to four o'clock, which is great.

And we're so lucky to have an amazing student section too that really comes out and supports this team.

Sounds good.

Anything else you'd like to add as far as maybe keys if you're going to win this one?

You know, keys for us is hopefully they can't stop LMIers.

And the rest of our team really contributes to put up some numbers too.

And we got to serve receive well.

We got to pass the ball so we can run the offense.

Sounds good.

We'll look forward to it.

We'll look forward to calling it on the radio.

Mariah, good luck to you and the team and the staff.

Thank you.

play.

From Marshall High School, good afternoon everybody.

Welcome to today's WIAA sectional broadcast featuring River Valley and Cambridge High School.

In the sectional final here today, good crowd on hand, especially for River Valley.

I'm Phil Neid joined by

Hey, Bray.

How you doing, sir?

Taking time off of his Halloweening.

Happy Halloween to you.

Happy Halloween.

It looks like that you've got your outfit on, ready to go.

I have mine on for a radio announcer for volleyball today.

Is that what it is?

That's what it is.

You're pretending.

Yeah, I am

pretending.

OK, that should be a good matchup.

As what we've learned from Cambridge is obviously they're having a great season.

Come in with a record just about like River Valley's.

They are 28 and 4 River Valley 30 and 6.

And we know that Cambridge has a great serve.

And that's one of the things

River Valley has to be very

concerned

about

today.

Yeah, we've been talking around and that is actually a big concern for River Valley is how they're going to serve, actually serve receive.

But other than that, and Cambridge does pass well.

Yes.

That's something that River Valley is going to have to be on the look out there on the defensive side of the ball.

The Black Rocks have played a tough schedule.

We've talked about their strength of schedule.

I would put it up against about anybody in the division, the teams they play and the tournaments they play

during the year.

You were saying earlier that the amount of tournaments they go to and the elite competition that they go to is

And comparing the schedules, though, it's nothing like Cambridge had.

Right.

So River Valley is well-tested.

And what I like about River Valley, they have some younger kids that just step up and play.

Yeah, they really have.

Here are the tournament especially.

And namely, Brooklyn White, a junior, Carly Birchfield, a junior, who's come back from injury to help out immensely.

They have just really, and you know, you start naming names, there's a lot of them here, but they've really gotten some strength and some players that have improved this year and have helped the cause.

Right now, officials are arriving at the court.

We're getting set to stand and face the flag.

Where is the flag?

Right above us.

Right above us, all right.

So we are ready to go with

The National Anthem today.

Yes.

River Valley River Valley side of the court, which makes it good for us to be able to see a little bit better because they don't switch back and forth anymore.

Do they do not?

You know, some we did some this year and it was kind of the teams had to agree on it.

But here in the postseason, everybody has stayed on the same side.

So River Valley students Phillip has they have all come in costume

as they have looking good first serve from Cambridge to River Valley Neerside played by Smith Mahoney sets it up shot the right side through the wall and down it goes Nice hit by Birchfield and that'll make it one nothing

Yeah, it just seems like that she followed the ball all the way along and they're getting ready for that one great great shot down

Serving will be Bella da Vinny for River Valley

Serve receive mode for Cambridge and there is the sir and they must up in the back row and it's going to be a point for River Valley a Muft attempt trying to pass that ball and that makes it a 2-0 lead to Vinnie with an ace She'll serve again River Valley with a couple of dribbles coming up

And the left-handed serve going to the far side fielded by Cambridge Pass to the right side going for the kill dumping it over there was Thompson ball to the right side for River Valley Stafford to the back row Set to the right side Cambridge bringing it and nice big attempt But it's going to go right in front of Bella to Vinnie and it's a point for Cambridge

Bella all out almost got it.

Yes, she did I tell you what you don't know how much Aphos is in these kids have until they do stuff like that.

They can get

above

the net all of them

Here's the serve dug by taffs passed to the right side.

There's Myers She is blocked and it is down on a big hit by number nine Macy Robinson and we're tied at two She looks like a good-looking athlete shoot one.

She can get up to To block yellow Myers you got to be able to do that right.

Yes, sir You do Serving will be Addison's your main from Cambridge River Valley you return it here near side staffer got it down

Paige

Stafford above the net that's impressive too because I think she may be the smallest lady on the floor

I've talked about it all year how Paige Jumps a lot taller than she

is my

goodness I have just noticed that Phil Josie Mahoney will serve for River Valley leading three to two opening set here at Marshall There's the serve fielded now by Cambridge set to the left side They're going for the middle and nice dig there in the backside by Taffs now back to the Vinnie Myers gets it over

Cambridge works it to the left and they're gonna take a shot, but it's out of bounds AC Robinson missed the line and it is for to River Valley Mahoney will serve again Coming up now Josie with a serve down the middle of the floor cut off there by Thompson back to the right side shot is that is in on a big hit

By number 10 Ella Jermaine and it's 4-3.

I saved you there Phil.

Did you?

I did.

What did you save me?

The ball.

Oh, okay.

Did you not see it coming?

I was over I was well out of sight.

I know was going over there toward you.

Oh, well, thanks for your

help.

Yeah Coming up for a serve is Robinson

Bulls at near side popped up by Divini passed by Stafford and now punched over by Haley birchfield Here's a quick set to the right side going if with a kill is going to be Robinson played by River Valley back to the net ball is up blocked by Cambridge and a Double hit on River Valley and we're tied at four River Valley playing at the net there

So far four to four.

This is I'm gonna go out and live and say this they look pretty even Yeah, right.

They're even at this point

Phil.

They really are but they do look teams are just jumping out of the gym.

That's Here's the surf fielded by River Valley Mahoney sets it back ball to the right side blocked by Cambridge back to River Valley up on the net blocked by Cambridge They got it down That was Ella Jermaine with the block kill and that makes it five four

Right there.

I think the defense was just out of position on the back side.

So I know

Get that fixed

Serving again Robinson from the back row Coming up line drives it down the middle field it now by River Valley popped up left side Mahoney passes Haley Birchfield takes a shot it is out of bounds 6-4 Cambridge I've only called Cambridge High School in football over the years never volleyball they played Ithaca In the play in the playoffs a couple times, but I know for sure 40 years ago

Here's the serve.

Oh, a nice one.

That's an ace.

That's what we've heard about Cambridge.

They get an ace serve on

that one by Robinson.

That was impressive.

Again, that's number nine.

I mean, she's

got an athlete.

Three-point lead for Cambridge.

Seven-four in the opener.

Robinson will serve again.

Steps up with a jump serve.

Polls at near side.

Dig by Divini.

Set for Myers.

Takes a soft shot.

Going to be blocked by Cambridge.

Back to River Valley.

Set to the left side, Stafford pops it over, fielded by Cambridge.

They work it left.

Here comes a big shot into the net for Cambridge and it's back to River Valley.

Seven-five.

They're just yelling this more youthful than me right now, but that's impressive to

good student section for River Valley Myers with a serve our side dug there by trainer It sets it up taking a shot over the top nice take by Mahoney back to the right side to Vinnie bumps it over Cambridge setting it to the right and a little tip kills gonna be dropped over and in nice play there by Cambridge Getting it down was number seven Addison's your main that makes it eight five

Yeah, so now at the other end of the gym fellow.

We have the Cambridge student section Oh, yeah couple of them late to

arrive there.

They're closer school to this facility than River Valley There's the serve to many with the dig Mahoney sets it up near side taking a shot is white gonna be played to right side by Cambridge taking a shot now it goes for number two Tara Benton housing That makes it nine five Benton housing with a kill

Yeah, and you know To be honest Cambridge has played in this gym.

So Marshall's in the conference.

Good point.

Yeah, they have Nine five they lead it River Valley and serve receive mode.

We're underway in game one of the sectional final Here comes the serve popped up Myers passes to Mahoney sets it up for white tough one.

She got it over nice job

Cambridge going back to the middle now popping it over on set number two was Benton housing when those setters do that.

It's so deceptive You know what it is it really is we're gonna time out time out for River Valley 10 5 start for Cambridge here in the opener high school volleyball today from WRCO radio sports

Good start for Cambridge out of the timeout that'll be an ace serve for Jill Thompson that makes it 11-5 Thompson with the ace We are back and ready to go here for more of the sectional final action here at Marshall High School There's Thompson with a serve fielded by

River Valley set to the near side white takes a shot that one is out of bounds Brooklyn white gave it a shot and missed they just missed a little high Phil

12-5 score Cambridge off to a seven-point lead River Valley has a lot of perseverance so don't get too worked up

about no

trailing Thompson with a serve

Ball in the near side Myers with a pass Mahoney back to the back side gonna be nice job by Myers and the back row attack Cambridge responds right side popping it over his trainer Here's a dig bite of any to Mahoney shot by Stafford kept live by Cambridge and they're gonna hit the antenna behind the official and out of bounds.

That's a point for River Valley 12 6 Valley just has

to

They're used to playing from behind that this does not faze River Valley at all.

So you just take Thursday for

an example, right?

They were down 11 to 6 in the fifth game Paige Stafford serves this one fielded back line there by Cambridge are gonna work it to the right taking a shot that one is out of bounds on the attempt by trainer and River Valley a scored two in a row 12-7 Paige Stafford will serve again

Stafford steps up to the back row there is the shot going to be played back row there free ball over ball down nice hit by Carly

Birchfield Just miss handled on the defensive side, but I'd say what with a ball hit that heartfelt It's hard to handle

Cambridge left it hanging and Carly Birchfield does the rest Paige Stafford will serve again four-point lead for Cambridge

This one popped up to the back now passed to the right taking a shot over there is trainer Fielded now by River Valley.

I'll set birchfield again taps it over kept live by Cambridge And they get it over on hit number three River Valley diving at the net keeping it live birchfield going for the kill again Backline one hand saved by Cambridge hang to the block down by white That's pretty good.

That was that was basically, you know fellas yet

She didn't hammer down, but she found a great spot on the floor

River Valley hanging in there Cambridge has done a lot of good one-hand saves, but they have they've left it hanging a few times River Valley responding 12 9 score Cambridge with the ball going left side They're gonna take a shot blocked by River Valley kept live birchfield hammers it that one is out of bounds Just missed they did it just miss so 13 9 our score here at Marshall High School

Cambridge in the lead they will serve side out Ella Jermaine will serve the sophomore And here comes the surf fielded near by River Valley They'll punch it up and out of bounds really had a tough time in that first

half Yeah, and that'll make it that was a tough gig there too.

I mean

yeah, it was a tough tough ball low to the ground and

Ed Ball's coming about 80 miles an hour at your ankles Here's the serve again a tough one field and now by white quick set for Birchfield takes it over the top played by Cambridge They'll take it over on hit number two kept live by white Mahoney sets it and here is Birchfield shot is up off of the tip and out of bounds a River Valley point Again Hannah and Carly Birchfield add a lot of excitement

right there But they you know River Valley was down there certainly not out of it

No, oh my goodness battling back 14-10 the score the serve by Kylie Smith quick step pushed over by Cambridge Mahoney does the same pushes it back to Cambridge Here's a set on the outside taking a shot there is betting housing fielded by River Valley back to Birchfield takes it over down it goes Carly Birchfield on

the left side.

That's pretty good shot right down the line I mean, I thought she's gonna hit the antenna with her hand He's got a couple of

points here in this opening

set 1411 Cambridge Kylie Smith Senior defensive specialist coming up and here comes the sir got off by Cambridge quick set on the outside tough when they're gonna knuckle it over there by Bettenhausen Set by Mahoney right in the middle over with a left hand by white pushed back by Cambridge and out of bounds That'll make it 1412 River Valley within two points

They found some rhythm fill now they got to keep it going here.

Yep looking a lot better Kylie Smith Will take the ball to the left side field of there by Cambridge quick set on the outside Knuckling it over there is Davis ball to the right side birchfield for a shot blocked by Cambridge and now he goes Good block by Sammy Davis.

He's only a freshman.

Oh really?

15 12 Ball game score here.

Perfect timing there

That's a lot what volleyball is and River Valley has got it back trailing by three Cambridge for the serve Bettenhausen and his play bite of any knuckles it to the right side white passes to Myers Ella gets it over Here's a set to the middle punched over by their setter German and it's going to be knocked down River Valley tipped it He goes out of bounds it is 1612 and the scouting report the setter

German she really has played well, and I can see where she's a team leader Yes Number seven right in the middle Mahoney the same on the other side for River Valley the quarterbacks of the team the Vinny gets the dig Here's the set right side taking a shot that one is out of bounds for Brooklyn light well that barely missed though 1712 Cambridge up by five here in the opening set

WIAA tournament sectional action winners will play on Friday morning eight o'clock.

I think the first one today Yeah, here's the serve cut off by Smith going into the stands to retrieve it is Smith and then white and then getting it over his divinity Here's the set for Cambridge taking a shot the Vinnie defensively makes a dig attempt can't get it it goes down and now Cambridge leads by six 1812 that's big-time block Robinson

With the block number nine

over all consider the block or just a I think it was a block.

Yeah There

were valley a little taller team in Cambridge.

Here's the serve Divini with a dig from the knees.

Here's Mahoney.

There is Birchfield drops it over and

in That young lady just plays and she just finds it.

She can find an open spot on the floor

It's pretty impressive to sit here and

watch her do that she found a spot right over the net to the left and no one was there Here's the serve by taffs fielded now by Cambridge a little off-balance hit number three They got it over all to the right side divinity now Mahoney front left back to the middle Myers slams it over fielded by Cambridge He'll try again on the right side taking a shot that is in Nice hit by Cedar trainer Line judge says in that was close

Glad that wasn't me 1913 Cambridge by six in the opener Trainer is back to serve River Valley and serve receive mode Trainer with the approach there is the serve and it's gonna be an ace As it goes down and out and that makes it 20 to 13 Hanks gonna retrieve it Nice job Hank timeout River Valley

And it is out of bounds

for

Macy Robinson 20 to 14 River Valley gets one back

Myers can get above above the net can't she

yes, she

can I tell you I didn't know how I mean well her whole elbow was above the net

Yeah, she's she's tall and then she can jump pretty well as well But we'll see what happens now is River Valley gets the side out.

There's the sir Game bridge sets it to the left taking a shot over and down is Macy Robinson that makes it

2114 that

was

impressive to Robinson with the kill back to serve his Addison German Comes up with the right-handed serve on the left side It's gonna be played by taffs Myers sets it and Stafford gets it over diving dig Cambridge kept it going but they kept playing on hit number two and that's a point for River Valley 2115 Cambridge by six Josie Mahoney will serve

Josie on the right side gives the ball a spin looking in now couple of steps and Serve receive for Cambridge that one hugs the right side fielded now by Cambridge.

They'll set it up and miss the second pass So a couple of maybe lapses

Concentration for Cambridge

and you know against River Valley.

You can't have those or they will make it hurt

two points back now 21 to 16 five point deficit Here's the serve Fielded now on the left side by Cambridge back to the right getting it over and it is out of bounds again And it is 21 17

Yeah

They're making some critical mistakes to continue to stay ahead of you can't do

that against the black

off here

Mahoney when she's serving good things seem to happen This one on the back line now played by Cambridge setting up left here's a shot over nice take by the Vinnie Mahoney sets Myers Ella dumps it over fielded out on the right side Cambridge taking a shot left blocked by River Valley.

That's gonna be a left call on Cambridge 21 18

They hit it they hit it twice but River Valley had the net, but I think the double double hit it went first.

All right, Mahoney will serve again Mahoney stepping up and there it is back line gonna be played by the little barrel player for Cambridge back to the right side Park Stover by German all to the right side for River Valley Myers down And it's a two-point set River Valley getting yellow Myers into the act again

She's been kind of quiet

today.

She has She's come back and she scored two good points here that off airs from Cambridge.

Here goes the serve by Mahoney fielded by Cambridge keeping it going now bumped over there by Lothi back line to Vinnie Mahoney on the way Myers down it goes 21-20

Ella Myers they called her in the net.

Oh, did they really?

Yes, they do and she come down her hand hit the net

Yeah, kind of a late call.

I was looking down on my program and the oh 22 19 then So back to serve is Cambridge Myers had two in a row and now Cambridge will try here's the right side It's gonna be Stafford Mahoney sets it Myers dumps it over fielded by Cambridge.

They keep it going There's a tough shot by German played on the left side Mahoney now to Stafford dumps it over again

Again that that young lady boy.

I

tell

you what she can find a spot I don't see how but she does it 22 to 20 and what happens is Cambridge is so concentrated on Myers and Burt's real about her all of a sudden here comes Paige Stafford Do they set it to her?

Well, that's impressive.

Nice job paid staff 22 20 Cambridge.

Here's the bell.

It's gonna be an ace.

Ella Myers gets it down.

It's a one-point set 22 21.

I'm gonna call it time out here

Cambridge will step away.

I think we'll keep it here for this one.

It's gonna be a short one and we're close to the end of set number one.

Yes,

we are.

You know, Cambridge kept making those little small mistakes like River Valley, Creteback, Creteback.

And now you got a one point game.

So it's all gonna, who's gonna

finish here?

Pretty even.

Absolutely.

And again, volleyball sets an emotional sport.

At one point, River Valley down by seven.

At 21 14 and now since that time Cambridge has only scored one

point seven one run here

Timeout over if you're the team that's on the run you don't spend a lot of time in the timeout you come back No, you don't and and you know what with River

Valley All their all their kids do it.

It's not just one kid.

Oh, yeah, I mean it they they all it's all a team effort here

very balanced absolutely

Ella Myers will get the ball back from the official 22-21 Cambridge Here's the serve far side fielded now by Cambridge.

They'll set it to the middle now over the top nice dog Diving saved by Divinity nice job back to Stafford takes it over and kept live by Cambridge They dig it ball to the right side knuckle over by Thompson.

Here's the set by Mahoney birchfield for the kill block tip by River Valley and down it goes.

It's a point for Cambridge

Nice nice volley for both sides there just it really was and to Vinnie this this kid can dig this about anything out of the ground my goodness

23 21 Cambridge will serve Here it is pulls it left to Vinnie with a dig Mahoney right in the middle sets it back side for Stafford who takes it over

Back row Cambridge they'll set it up tough one driving it over there is trainer the Vinnie passes to Stafford She knuckles it to the right fielded back to the middle.

Here's a set by German shot over the top by Lofi.

It's gonna be down and Cambridge has game point 24 21 and a Lofi with the kill Serving is Jill Thompson of Cambridge

Cambridge in their blue and white River Valley black-and-white Game point Cambridge.

Here's the serve feel the bite of any set by Myers and white takes it to the back line of Cambridge Set to the right side going for the win and they will get it free ball back by Divini, but it goes out of bounds and it's set one win for

Cambridge Yeah, it is and and you know it River Valley just Just a just a couple taps away from changing this whole thing which they'll fix it.

I'm not

They'll get it fixed.

The Vinny is an absolutely supreme digger in the back and the backboard.

That is absolutely amazing.

Yep, and that skill sometimes is overlooked.

You know, I tell you what, it shouldn't be.

She is just digging everything.

Another surprise is that is the step page, Stafford.

What a player.

I mean, what a player.

A lot of them have really lifted their games

here this year to get to this

level and they're down one here today.

to a good Cambridge team.

Here we go.

There's the serve by Cambridge near side dig by Kylie Smith back to the right side Myers knuckles it over fielded by Cambridge setting it up Robinson drives it over to Vinnie again with a one hand save back to Mahoney and now Birchfield down the line one hand save by the Cambridge players but they can't get it.

They go on the stands

trying to get it back again.

The number six almost on the save on that one.

What a nice dive.

Nice.

Nice.

But if I've been watching the

The Vinnie here and she said she's something happened on that last dig And she's not she's not a hundred percent right now Phil.

She's serving one one score River Valley and that one goes out of bounds to service areas

to

start the game

for

River Valley Yeah, she's she's limping a little bit Yeah, I think you're right two to one is the score Cambridge will serve

Addison German will serve again for Cambridge this time around that one dug by Tafts Mahoney left side Stafford takes it over Backline Cambridge quick set in the middle taking a shot partially blocked by Myers on the hit by Robinson and now River Valley tries again If on the hit number three it goes low and hit four and that's too many Three one Cambridge Back to serve is German

Takes it over to the right side played now by Tafts.

Here's Mahoney setting up Myers Ella knuckles it over diving dig Cambridge that may have been out of bounds But they play it and this one is out of bounds on the hit by Cambridge three two You know you're you're in the motion, you know, you can't wait and see whether it's

gonna land fair foul.

I know I know you got it You go ahead and take it and that's it's one of those It's like taking a ball or striking baseball, you know, you got it right got to

go

Unless Contreras, you know gets the save

there's one

on the right side and Cambridge hits it down I see it by Macy Robinson and that makes it four to two Yeah, William Contreras had a whole bunch of them overturned playoffs and 13 out of 10 10 10 of 13 10

of 13.

Yeah, right.

Did I say 13 out of 10?

I wasn't very good with my no no you would

yeah

You weren't on the math team like I was Yeah, yeah, you're right.

Oh, I wouldn't paid Stafford near side and Birchfield takes it over good hit by Haley kept live now by Cambridge and they'll bump it over the top on hit three Myers Mahoney back to Ella down it goes She's

unstoppable at that close to the net when

she gets a little tip kill.

Oh, yeah She's gonna take it.

She's gonna take a nice job and Ella is back to serve for three Cambridge in the second

Alice serves it to the left side dig there by Thompson back to the right by Gould and then knuckled over that time by trainer Here's the set to white shot is up blocked by Cambridge and River Valley called on the net That'll make it 5-3 This Cambridge

seem blocks better than I thought

they

would they blocked really really well there and you know what there's three or four with the net all the time

Serving again is Cambridge up by two in the second they won the opener 25 21 Myers with a dig Mahoney sets it left side white takes it over tipped by Cambridge They'll keep it going ball again.

They're gonna try it on the left shot is a block down by River Valley White is there nice job along with Stafford.

Yes, and that makes it five four Page Stafford will serve five four Cambridge in the second

Awaiting the official whistle and here we go.

There's the sir right side dug there by Thompson quick set They're gonna take it down the line on the hip by train or good dig by Myers Here's Mahoney.

There's Birchfield blocked by Cambridge back to River Valley again Here is a shot by Birchfield played by Cambridge going right side taking a shot getting it over the net nice dig on the back line by Stafford Myers gets it over and hit number three Cambridge tries again with a tip kill shot is in

Just about got me.

Oh, I had a good three or four minutes

on it Sorry folks, that's all right Phil fills out retrieving

the ball five to five ball game So that one missed almost got underneath the table, but not quite didn't unplug us or anything So that is good news What are we waiting for here?

Did they call that out or in I thought it was in I thought they called it

Out of bounds which would be a point for River Valley, right?

Checked with the line judge Yeah, right here.

We're going 5-5.

I think yep, they were gonna keep playing Paige Stafford with a serve What's it right in the middle played now by Cambridge set to the right side?

They'll take a shot again gonna be dug the back line by Stafford up on that by white Brooklyn white and

River Valley is caught fire here But you can say holy mackerel on that on that leap to that is that

Wow

Brooklyn white up and got it done River Valley takes the lead six five.

Here's paid Stafford's sir Cambridge puts it up.

Here's a set of the right side taking it over and down with Tara Bettenhausen She looks like she can hit with left or right here.

She's

left.

Yeah, cuz I thought she was going right Six to six Tara Bettenhausen with the kill for Cambridge and now River Valley in serve receive mode

Tied at six.

Here's the serve cut off by white Myers near side and taking it over is Carly Birchfield Walked by Cambridge back again near side.

They'll try again Birchfield takes it over got it down not to be denied Carly Birchfield with a kill seven six River Valley Kylie Smith is in to do the service Cambridge wins the opener today 25 21 River Valley will serve

Kylie Drives it right down the middle field of there by Thompson pass back to the middle now taking a shot is up.

It's blocked by River Valley and

It looks like it's a

little valley side Didn't get it over the net that number

14, so I don't have a program for Valley Carly birchfield.

I'll tell you what nice blocked by her

So going back to do the honors again will be came rich trying to take the lead

Seven seven in the second set.

There's the serve it goes to the right side and Smith back to Mahoney Birchfield knuckles it over got it down Carly Birchfield's having a game wow Eight seven She's got a couple of kills here in this set and serving now will be Braylon Tafts the senior gets the whistle eight seven River Valley Tafts with the serve and

Fielded by Cambridge.

They'll work it to the middle shot by Robinson block by Myers back to Cambridge.

They somehow keep it going and they'll get it over You've got a nice hit on that one ball to the left side birchfield softly taps it over one hand save kept live by Cambridge back to the right pushed over by trainer Back to the near side birchfield knuckles it back row Cambridge great volley tapped over by German back to the right side Myers and Birchfield hits the net and that's a point

For Cambridge in the back and forth set number two continues.

It is a date Yeah, great volley just didn't fall where they wanted it see it or trainer Back to serve for Cambridge River Valley in serve receive mode here in the second trainer with the serve cut off by Myers.

He'll set it for Birchfield She slams it over and got it in Harley Birchfield is just having quite a day

Nine eight River Valley.

She's got three kills in the second set and Bella Vinnie Will serve for the black box I had nine eight in the second here at Marshall High School Here goes the serve Cambridge gets the dig there's trainers setting it up Robinson that boy hit the antenna and that's a point for River Valley On a little high and

that makes it ten eight

Again, you know you mentioned that after the first step that they'll let them put their hanging the balls up and then that cost them there

too Serving will be Bellat of any Left-handed sir Cambridge makes the plate.

There's a quick set ball up blocked by a mellow Myers back It goes to Cambridge again taking a shot is Thompson

that one went in

didn't know it's a it went out.

Okay 11 8 River Valley by 3 Bellat of any will serve again

River Valley with its largest lead

here

Three points.

There's the serve fielded by Cambridge.

They struggled a little bit now back to the right side taking it over as Thompson Divini now Mahoney and then Stafford takes it to the back row Cambridge Getting a set to the right side taking a shot over that one ball is gonna be blocked up to the ceiling Tip by River Valley and it goes down.

That'll be a point for Cambridge

Yeah, you know paid Stafford what her I think her specialty is

Getting that ball to the back row of Cambridge the nice job by her

Playing in the front left again.

It's her and Myers in the front row right to the left It's gonna be set by taffs back to the right over the top there by Myers again Cambridge trying right side They get it over the initial block kept by by Stafford that could goes to Smith Page gets it over And here's a set by Cambridge in the middle shot on the run that one is out of bounds That'll be a point for River Valley

You know, we haven't had a lot

of serious errors.

No, we haven't River Valley struggled a little bit in the first one of Cambridge has had a service here

Yeah, you know and the Miss Mahoney there she serves it really close to the top of the net anyway so hard to

Think they just probably slipped out of her hand

here comes the up and the serve by Cambridge The set by Mahoney sets Myers on the right side ball up block back to River Valley.

Here's the set left side Here's Stafford taking it over one hand saved by Cambridge.

Oh my goodness on the floor They get it over back to Myers knuckles it over again Cambridge setting it right side.

There's Bentonhausen driving it back roll one hand saved by Tafts

Divini Myers over the shoulder bumps it to the back row Cambridge setting it again right taking it shot block down by speed stamper goodness That'll make it 13 10 Boy some volleys are

going on I'll tell you what they are But you expect this in the final.

Oh, yeah, no doubt These two teams got here for a reason Here's yellow Myers with the serve

Fielded by Cambridge that one kind of went a little bit astray.

They're gonna get it back over to River Valley Mahoney setting it Stafford taking a shot got it down 1410 I Think

they're so concentrated on on Meyer, but they're forgetting about page and page is making a pay Every time every time making a timeout

Cambridge

We'll be back in 30 seconds 14 10 River Valley leads in the second set here on WRCO radio sports

Cambridge and

the floor after that one German with the kill and it makes it the three-point set 1411 River Valley here in the second

Here's the approach of the serve by Thompson Divini passes down to Mahoney and now in the middle Myers shot is up blocked by Cambridge tip by River Valley They keep it going back to Divini who gets it over Cambridge tries again.

There's another shot that one Divini plays out when it comes into the stands and it's a point for Cambridge They just got a couple of shots in a row now Bentonhausen and German in the front row and that makes it 1412

Here we go again Serve belongs to Cambridge River Valley and serve receive mode leading by two points Here's the approach by Jill Thompson jump serve right side and River Valley can't play at its down for an ace 14 13 Yeah,

That's a River Valley point 15 13 Brooklyn white put a charge into one And Carly Birchfield is back in on the left

Fact of the birchfield sisters are both in the front along with Brooklyn white and Paige Stafford will serve and that one is going to be called I think Cambridge was not in the right spot and there's a point for River Valley But I think one of the players may have had a foot out of bounds So they're discussing it with the judge on the floor Meanwhile, he's trying to explain what he called and

So explaining it to the players of Cambridge that makes it 16 13 in favor of River Valley

by three being out of rotation.

Yes,

that's correct Page Stafford with a serve cut off on the right side by Thompson There's the set taking it over that one is out of bounds on the attempt by Tara Benhausen nice save by Lauren Glassbender Lauren

Glassbender should should have his goalie gloves on yeah, he's feeling a few yeah, he has

1713

River Valley by four I

think

he's trying to save you Phil Paige Stafford with a serve There's the set Shot over the top that one is out of bounds as well by German and all of a sudden River Valley has the edge by five 1813 the rotation Oh, they gave the point to the Cardinals

Even here at Marshall High School each team is one one River Valley winning 25 18 in the second

Six kills for Carly birchfield and two for Ella Myers among the stories paid Stafford as a couple of kills

as well This

birdfield

is on fire

Wow, and we go to set number three one score this afternoon on the film the flip phone Sponsored by Marzies strikeout Alzheimer's New Berlin eyes an hour over Reedsburg 26 14 in high school football.

Okay,

okay, and they didn't play last night.

I didn't play today.

Yep one o'clock game

Neverland Eisenhower with I guess they wanted it because it was a longer trip to be an afternoon game Some go a lot further, you know,

it's kind of

depending on the school.

You know as an official I love Saturday afternoon one o'clock game

Yeah, you stab it used to have more of a choice now almost everybody they kind of tell you to play it

It's

either that or Thursday now.

They're kind of moving with the first yeah Saturday

All right Cambridge serves first.

This is set number three played by River Valley that one caroms into the stands nice say Oh, they did save it brought back now to the left side Cambridge taking a hit over the top that time by Robinson Set in the near side birchfield down the line diving did Cambridge free balls it over.

There's a whistle and a Well that violation that's on Cambridge

One nothing number four River Valley leading one nothing Bella Da Vinnie will serve One set of peace here at Marshall High School in River Valley has the initial point in set number three Da Vinnie serves again Cut off on the right side Cambridge sets it shot is over tipped by River Valley kept live by Da Vinnie There's the set on the near side Stafford goes left-handed Cambridge saves it back to the middle and now left side taken over and

Taking a shot and down is Jill Thompson 1-1 score Thompson comes back strong Cambridge does a good job of passing the ball

around yes, they do I think they they passed better than they serve because we know we're told both of

the first Here's the serve by German

Played on the left side by River Valley.

They're getting at the Stafford takes it over tip now kept live by Cambridge ball on the right side shot over and down for Ella German and that'll make it two to one Cambridge Ella German gets the kill River Valley's done a good job of blocking him though and kind of frustrating him here as this game has gone out There's the serve back line taffs Mahoney to Myers she'll take it over left side now to Cambridge and

Working it now on the right side hitting it over and a big hit on net violation against River Valley.

I think that was the initial call Now the officials are coming over these this is the second time I've seen officials have headsets Yeah, and that works out pretty well now.

They're calling on a conference But if you have a headsets you don't necessarily need to have all the conferences

right depends on It depends on what they're talking about here Phil

Because if it's something in detail with the rule or something, they're definitely going to go over it.

Huh?

Well,

talking over at this

point, it looked like a point for they may have to replete.

I think they were going

to point the river valley.

Yeah, that's even better for the life.

I think she was I think she was in the net.

And there's no feedback from their coach because she probably knew

it from

the start.

So that makes it two to two.

And Josie Mahoney is back to do the service honors.

Steps up and there's the serve nice dig by Thompson back to the right side taking a shot over blocked by River Valley and down it goes Ella Myers with a piece of it Three to two black ox Josie Mahoney will serve again for River Valley Cambridge and serve receive mode Mahoney steps up drives it to the left side Cambridge Saves it now.

They're gonna get it over on the hit by Sherman

Back to the right side to Vinnie and now taking a shot is Birchfield back row Cambridge They'll work it to the left side and into the net on a hit by Thompson and River Valley leads by two four to two
