Well, thank you very much and welcome, Husky Hockey fans, from the John McGillus Student Dice Arena.
Dirk Hembrock with you on MIX 93 WKMJ on a Sunday afternoon edition of Michigan Tech Hockey.
This is not what we were dreaming up on our way into this weekend against the Minnesota Golden Gophers, but with the postpone game on Friday night, here we are, ready for a 307 drop of the puck for game two between the Gophers, Andrew Michigan Tech Huskies.
Huskies got a big three to two victory last night here at the Mac where Matthew Van Blericom
was the start of the game.
Two goals and an assist, factoring in on each Michigan Tech tally, including the game winner that he scored 11 minutes and 41 seconds into period number three.
The Huskies never trailed in the game, led 1-0, then led 2-1, and ended up with a 3-2 victory.
Shots were very close.
The Gophers ended up with 31.
The Huskies with 28.
Both teams were 0 for 1 on the power play as the officials were letting the guys play.
Gophers ended up pulling their goaltender, DePasqua, who played very well all game long.
at the end of the game to try to get the equalizer.
The Huskies were able to hold on for the victory.
We'll hear some of the highlights coming up in just a little bit, and we hope to see you here at the game.
But if you're not going to be here, we're glad you're with us here on MIX 93 WKMJ.
Head coach Bill McCult, some highlights and much, much more all coming your way.

3-2 victory last night for Michigan Tech here over the 14th ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers.
Huskies never trailed in the game and were able to hang on at the end.
Shots were really even as we mentioned in the last segment.
31-28 in favor of the Gophers in front of a loud crowd of about 3700 people.
This is what it sounded like.
Yeah,
I didn't see the replay.
That's how that pot got in the high slot where he made no mistake.
Andreessen moving it up the left wing of the wall.
Husky to get it to Roulette.
Roulette across the line but just couldn't hang on cleanly.
Husky got caught on a line change.
Bridgette coming in.
He's on a breakaway shoot!
Stores!
Nice play by Bridgette coming in.
And Bridgette gets the goal.
1-1 score with 18-45 left to go in the second.
The clear back out to center right.
Tide 1-1, 13-43 remaining in the second period.
brought you by Comfort and 3-4 and jumped all the way down.
Mer will pick it up now and send it behind the net.
He was defensive.
He hit down there, loose pucked in the slot.
Picked up by the Huskies.
Here's Johnson with a good score.
He's near the end of the goal.
They both got it, center ice, but he's uncaring about it.
Huskies regain the lead to the 1.
But the center ice tipped all the way down.
It's not that she can tech in.
Miller was slapping around.
The Huskies are out of position right there.
Stolen away by Cohen, sends it towards the goal.
And that one sent wide of the net.
Huskies start the season with a 1-0 record.
We'll have a chance here for the sweep this afternoon against the Gophers.
Gophers will have a lot to say about that.
Huskies will be without one of their captains again today.
And that will be Isaac Gordon, knowing going into the week and he was not going to play.
And of course, the Gophers with one of the best players out as well in Mooney.
Head coach Bill McAlton, his pre-game comments come in your way just a little bit.
You are tuned to Big 93 WKMJ and our Kirkish Furniture Countdown in the Face-off.
The Huskies and the Gophers, the rematch here on a Sunday afternoon.

Let's take a look at the out-of-town scoreboard brought to you by Peterlin Distributing.
Here are the other scores from last night.
Michigan completed the sweep over Bowling Green with a 4-3 victory at Slater Family Ice Arena in Ohio.
Falcons had a 2-0 lead going into the second period after McKinley and Minville both scored first period goals.
It was all Michigan in the second field scoring 3 and going into the third with a 3-2 lead.
Tied it up though was Conor Livis on the power play at the 11-16 mark making it a 3-3 score but then
Just less than a minute later at the 12-10 mark, Jaden Perron got the game-winning goal from Michigan, and goal in green is swept by the Wolverines.
Bemidji had an exciting game-winning goal in overtime as they took St.
Cloud State University to an extra period.
Hudson Thornton gets the power play goal in OT at 3-14 mark, and Bemidji State wins it over St.
Cloud by a score of 3-2.
Rappel J up top to Thornton.
And for men, you stay one
St.
Cloud is the next opponent for Michigan Tech next weekend down in Minnesota.
Well, after the Northern Michigan Wildcats shut out Miami on Friday night, Miami turned the tables on Saturday night at the Berry event center, beating the Wildcats by a score of four to one.
Maristin Arne was the only goal scorer for the Wildcats.
That was in the third period on the power play.
Northern Michigan starts their season at one in one.
Lake Superior State defeated Windsor by a score of five to two.
That was an exhibition play.
North Dakota over Augustana in exhibition play.
that was at Ralph Engelsted Arena.
And after Arizona State beat up on Lindenwood Friday night, Lindenwood comes back with a nine goal performance.
They needed almost all of those though because Arizona State ended up with six goals.
Nine to six win for Lindenwood over Arizona State last night to split on that weekend.
Ferris State Bulldogs got an overtime tie with Canisius.
5-5 was the final in that game.
The Bulldogs scored five goals in the second period.

Husky hockey fans it's time for our conversation with head coach Bill McCulloch brought to by Remax Douglas Real Estate as we get set for the finale between the Huskies and the Gophers congratulations again coach that was a nice win last night as we talked after the game two really good teams battling it out and one thing I noticed and I don't know who brought this up last night
Not many turnovers by us, and I know that was a point of emphasis last year to kind of clean that up Is that something that we did pretty well last night and not turn in the puck over?
Yeah, I think that's a real key obviously there's some breakouts we could clean up their first goal we had a tough change and didn't get it 200 feet and Had a couple missed assignments obviously a good individual effort, but that's gonna happen, but we're we're
You know, always focus in the first game of the year is a time and a place and a start to build on.
But puck management is key.
Like when we can get the pucks in and establish our forward check and get into our offensive zone play, that's a good recipe for us.
And
you
told me throughout the preseason camp how Giovanni Morneau
how much ability he has, and obviously you recruited him to Lindenwood and to have him on our team, but to actually see him in the game situation live, I really got a chance to appreciate it.
He finds great spaces to get open, doesn't he coach?
For sure.
And I think he's going to continue to get better and better as he gets more comfortable.
Really, him and Tayden Trambacki created some good offensive chances.
And I know they'll
you know there's more to come from them for sure.
So coach what do you
feel is going to be different tonight as far as this game or do you feel there will be any big differences from Minnesota from us and and what will be the key is again to trying to get a sweep against this team?
Well I think you got two teams trying to play fast and play hard and you know a lot of similarities and play play quick and make plays and and you know I think
We just have to execute our system.
We're going to play connected, play fast, play hard, play disciplined.
The little things matter.
You know, face off, line of scrimmage changes.
execution.
I thought both goaltenders played well.
Just a few things that we can do better, but give credit to both teams.
I mean, they're a really good hockey team.
And so, you know, obviously it's a huge task today, but, you know, the bigger the task, the greater the opportunity and be a huge statement for us.
You know, two new Huskies.
And when Jack Anderson left, we thought, boy, that's a big
hole to fill, Joe Proudy being gone too, but Lucas Breton and Luke Shipley, I thought they really slid in there nicely and played mid-season type of defense.
Yeah, I thought Lucas Brenton was a man last night.
You saw him, you know, just kill plays, a couple of big, big checks, but defensively was so rock solid.
And then, you know, the pinch on our second goal with L.A.
Seanson, Luke Shipley made an unbelievable read, jumped the play, created a turnover.
And obviously, Ellie buried that.
I thought he had an excellent game last night.
Do you make
any significant changes tonight, coach?
I think it's
It's hard to make any changes.
Like I said, I really love the depth.
I want to get everybody in at some point, but I really liked our game.
from top to bottom last night.
So we'll keep the same lineup here as long as everybody stays, feels good, knock on wood.
All right, Coach, thanks a lot.
Appreciate it.
Good luck, and we'll talk to you after the game.
Yeah, my pleasure.
Thanks, Dirk.
Head coach Bill McAlton brought to you by Remax and Douglas Sherrillist.

693 WKMJ at the Bobbilsen Media Center, and the John McGinnis student, Adriana Dirk-Hemberoff along with former Husky and former Annie Jeller.
Brett Peterson with us here this afternoon for Michigan Tech Hockey on a Sunday.
And let's get to our starters.
They are brought to you by Upward Orthodontics.
First of all, for the Minnesota Golden Gophers, Tanner Ludkey gets the start at center.
The draft pick of the New Jersey Devils.
He'll be centering Austin Bernovic, who was on the left side last night, and Mason Moe.
Back on the blue line for Coach Larson, Axel Lovgren wears number 26, a tremendous hockey player.
And Evan Mer, we know how good he is as well, former Minnesota State Maverick wearing number 10.
He'll be teamed up with Lovgren.
And that is your starting, those are your starting skaters for the Gophers.
For the Michigan Tech Huskies, the Max Costa-Bertie line will start tonight.
Centering Michael Cicek and Connor Roulette.
Connor Roulette played his first game as a Husky last night and played very well.
Back on the blue line for the Huskies, it'll be Tyler Miller starting with Luke Shipley.
We're talking about Luke Shipley and Lucas Brenton, two new Huskies not labeled as freshmen, of course.
One is a sophomore, the other junior, but boy they played very well last night for Michigan Tech Brenton.
And I think the Huskies did fill those holes that they needed to fill when you're talking about a Jack Anerton and Joe Proudy no longer being on your team.
Yeah, those are two enormous vacancies to try to fill.
But Lucas Redd and your coach, McCall, talk about his size and how physical and heavy he plays.
And he filled that role well last night.
And then I thought Luke Shipley also played well.
Pretty big statured man himself.
But he skates well also.
So those are two big question marks that I think we can say maybe got answered last night and I think for the Decor that's a good
sign.
Other line combinations for the Huskies.
Giovanni Morneau will send her Noah Reinhardt, Tate and Trembachy.
Morneau looked comfortable last night.
Brent coming in as a junior and recruited at one point by head coach Bill McCullough.
Yeah, I think you can see there's something in there.
You know, Minnesota's a tough big
fast team.
So as he kind of gets caught up to the speed here, you're going to see some exciting things from the
center.
Delisle, that's Tristan Delisle will center Owen Baker and Elias Jonson.
Jonson had a great goal last night, moved it from the tip of the backhand to his forehand and ripped an NHL style shot past the goaltender.
Yeah, and that
all
started from the pinch from Shipley and on the boards.
And I like how he just
that puck back in the forward and shot.
It wasn't that hard, but right off the post, kind of cut the goalie by surprise.
But when you shoot it that quick, sometimes that's more effective than how hard you can get it
off.
And then, of course, Tom Leppa, Matthew Bamberacom, and Carson Burdy, who, once again, maybe you could say was the best line on the ice last night.
Yeah,
they're listed on the depth chart as a fourth line.
This is not a fourth line.
Their improvement from the second half of last season, they've made another step this year
They were outstanding.
I love how they play together.
They read off each other.
They just play fast.
And now that they have the confidence with that, put it to Ed Blaricom, had a couple goals last night, left book, sister two.
So it's fun to watch their progress here
early in their young career.
Also back on the blue line tonight, Lucas Bredson and Caleb Parker, Reed Andreessen and Luca Fasciano.
The extra forward tonight will be Carson Latimer.
for the Huskies.
Again, our starters, Max Koskopyrty, Michael Cicak and Connor Roulette up front, Luke Shipley and Tyler Miller back on the blue line.
The Gophers, Tanner Ludkey, Austin Bernovic and Mason Moe up front back on the blue line, Evan Merer and Axel Lothgren.
Starting lineups are brought to you by Upward Orthodontics in Houghton.
We'll take a quick 30 second break.
We'll be back with our goaltenders.

No changes in the goaltending.
Why would you change?
Both were very good last night.
Look at the pass quo.
Made some unbelievable.
Right at the doorstep saves when the Huskies were redirecting them.
Ended up getting the loss last night, but certainly was not because of him.
He drops his safe percentage down to 91.3 on the career, but he was really exceptional at times last night his goals against career-wise 2.81 For the Huskies, it'll be Owen Barnaskevich who really played well last night had that one
Got a squib between his legs on that wraparound attempt that he probably won one back But other than that he was outstanding and really stood tall at the end of that game when the Gophers had pulled their goaltender his career numbers are 91.4 on the same percentage of 2.61 goals against average and those were two good goalies last night
Yeah, they sure were you get a sense watching the goaltenders
Veteran players just in complete control back there.
I think for both teams you can sort of bank on good quality goal-tending that helps you in your own defensive zone, obviously, but both were outstanding.
I expect them to be good again tonight.
Let's meet the goalies brought to my Poclos party store in Calumet.
We're about seven and a half minutes away from the drop of the puck here on a Sunday afternoon.
It's been difficult all day here.

I think you're probably right.
It's been a while.
And we'll be back with much more.
Both teams getting set to come on to the ice.
Glad to have you with us here today.

We'll see.

Derek Kembrov with you.
Along with Brent Peterson, Brady Glano down at ice level here.
Brady, a Sunday afternoon hockey.
How are you feeling down there next to the Michigan Tech bench tonight?
Feeling really good, Dirk.
You touched on how the players have routines.
And I'm curious to see if a Sunday afternoon game messes with that for both sides.
Let's see how it's going to
go.
Yeah, routines are big at the college hockey level for sure.
Look, we were talking about the Gophers and just how big they are, watching their starting light-ups.
You know, Evan Rur, I don't know if you're talking about Friday Night Bredger, but it was filled last night, but you know, he's six foot, and he looks tiny out there compared to some of these guys.
Yeah, he is their shortest blue liner, the tallest being Rombok at 6'6", so they've got size and they've got
speed.
Out of town, scoreboard.
Roger by Peterland Distributing not a whole lot of games going on today as you can imagine.

They all had to go home disappointed because the game didn't get played.
And the majority of them are back here tonight from what I understand.
As we mentioned Owen Barnaskevich,
Getting a start against his old team.
Played at Minnesota early in his career, then went to Lindenwood and then here at Michigan Tech.
And the Huskies will be on the road next week and Friday and Saturday night at St.
Claude State University.
We'll have the broadcast for you here on MIPS 93 WKMJ.

Rick Hebron along with former NHL and Michigan Tech Sports Hall of Famer, Brent Peterson, Brady Gladdle down at ice level.
Hope you enjoyed our Krueger's Furniture Countdown at face-up.
Michigan Tech down to our left in their gold uniforms here tonight.
The Minnesota Golden Gophers in their Maroon Road uniforms.
Huskies with a 3-2 victory last night.
Bopers will try to get the split here tonight at the Mac.
I should say today.
Early start here today.
307 dropping the puck with the rescheduled game from Friday.
And both teams, Brent, look, ready to go here tonight,
today.
Yeah, they sure did.
Last night's game was such an entertaining, fast-paced and skilled game.
I expect that's going to even bump up a notch here the second night of a two-game series, especially here in Minnesota.
Throw everything they have at tech.
Tech's going to have to be up for the task.
A little bit of a delay here as they will wait.
Everybody got done a little bit early, it looks like, and 20 seconds still left in the pregame clock.
Our first period being brought to by the weekly agency of Hancock.
They've been providing our area.

Nobody pays to not be presented by Fine Line Tiger and Fine Line Tiger Express.
Glad to have you with us.
The Huskies to our left, the Gopers to our right.
The Pasquo in goal again.
So is Marta Skevich.
We are underway.
Here at the John McGatis Student Ice Arena.
Dumped all the way in as the gopers win the first face-up.
Played around there by Barna Skevich, but give it away.
Quick shot towards the goal.
And the dangerous play that's cooped up now by Connor Roulette.
Roulette with a lead-mat pass that goes over the blue line.
Huskies won't be able to hold it in and shot back out to center-ice.
Michigan Tech will control.
Shippley will dump it in, wraps it all the way around.
Good pass goes to Elex to stay in.
the crease instead of trying to stop it behind there.
And now the Gophers will slap at it back up to center ice.
And will they get it clear?
They will not.
The Huskies able to hold it in down there.
Passed to the front.
Huskies couldn't make it.
That was Roulette.
Picked up the puck, handed it off.
Nobody back to the point for the Huskies.
And they will hold it in.
And Friesen just got there in time.
Played right to the front of the net, but scooped up by the defense.
Rolling puck there on the Gophers.
And Ludkey was able to work it back out to center ice.
Leppa coming out the bench.
Got a piece of that one.
Picked up by Fasciano, who I thought was really good last night from Michigan Tech.
And so was this player, Axel Oppenrod.
He'll send it over now for Merr.
Merr surveys, sends it up there.
Huskies will intercept and brought across now by Lepa, but he turned it right back over, and the Gophers now, Zeemar, able to work it up across the line.
Sends it to the other side, right to the front of the net, trying to get it to Wyatt Cullen, who would have had a great opportunity, scoring chats, and...
That one was foiled and back up to center ice comes Leppa.
Tom Leppa crossed the line for the Huskies, puts on the brakes, sends it over.
That one did not get there.
Cleanly a shot there taken by Matthew Van Blericombe who had three points last night, two goals and an assist.
Here's a shot, save made there.
High to pass, well picked up by Whipple, the defenseman.
Whipple, high tails and now over to center ice and the Huskies will stop it at their own blue line, they'll bring it back across, tipped down and a rolling puck will go down inside of the...
Gopher and Michigan Tech making a change on the flies.
The Gophers will do the same thing after dumping it in, wrapped all the way around now.
It's going to be picked up by Trembachy.
Trembachy lost it, able to get it to a teammate that was more known.
He loses it, and the Gophers now bring it back across the line with Nevers.
Jackson Nevers was not in the lineup last night, put in tonight, and back to the point.
Inside of the Michigan Tech zone, controlled by the Gophers, but tipped back out to center ice.
Got
a pretty good start here.
Not a whistle yet to start.
Turned over two minutes in.
17-49,
left to go in the period.
No score.
Here come the golfers back across the line down inside the Michigan Tech Zone.
Nice job by Pritchard, who had that first goal last night for the golfers.
Great individual effort he did.
Backed out in the right wing corner of the Michigan Tech Zone, off the back of the net.
Husky struggling now to get good, clean possession.
They tip up the center right, quickly taken away, and the golfers are playing some good hockey right now.
Myrrh, for Moore, he'll tip it down.
And Bartoskevitz had a wait till he got there.
Watch out, Bartoskevitz loses it.
And right to the front of the net.
Huskies were able to take it away.
They'll send it down.
They're going to wave off the ice.
I mean, Latimer going in on the forecheck.
Bouncing, tucked down the left wing corner of the zone.
Latimer using that speed on that dump in.
But the Gophers get it to the line, but not out.
Sent right back in by Miller.
Tyler Miller wraps it around to the near sign now.
Hendrick said, moving it up.
Huskies able to hold it in for the time being, then flip back up the center ice.
Miller's the last guy back, and they want to be careful.
Nice move by Tyler.
Backhanded up the center ice.
Loose pocket, the Michigan Tech blue line.
Al picked up by Luke Shippley.
Shippley takes it back behind his own net, and the Gophers will pull away as the line change is being made.
Zeemar is back out there.
16-38.
We still have not had a whistle.
No score.
Left it.
In this first period, 16-48 left in the first, got back across now by Michigan Tech.
Here's Bernie, down the right wing corner.
Bernie going in on the forecheck.
Koskapyrti is there as well.
Humphreys, able to get it, didn't move it out, still went away by Koskapyrti.
Koskapyrti spins in the corner, gets it back to the point.
Parker slides it over.
Renton, Renton, towards the net, and a nice cover up there by Goltender.
Ooh.
Nice cover up there by Goltender to pass flow.
Nice play by Costa Perti in the corner.
Good patience.
Try to bring that to the net, but was pinched off.
Reverse course, sent it to the D, and they went D to D for a shot on goal.
Here's that play where Bartoszkevic got caught up behind the net.
He almost bumped into his own defenseman and was using his foot to try to keep it alive.
It squirted right in front of him in the blue paint.
Fortunately for Tech, they had a body there.
No score, 16-09 left to go in the period.
Face-on deep inside of the Gopher's zone.
They'll flip it back out to center-ice after winning the draw.
We've got two face-offs, both won.
Here's a chance now by the Gopher's.
Moe is going to track it down, sends it back, or tried to get it back to Ludkey.
Husky's got a piece of it.
Now a battle down in the corner.
Ludkey has it up top, slides it over for Whipple.
Quick shot through, drop it!
Watch out, it went high into the air, and nobody knew where it was.
And it was tough to tell if that was behind the goaltender or not.
Back across Cheechick, waited too long, but he's able to get up to Mordo.
Mordo walks in, makes a move, Mordo to his backhand, got into the front of the goal, and a good defensive play made there by the Gophers.
And picked up now and sent back out to center ice.
That was Mason Mogue able to make that play.
And back out to center now for Michigan Tech.
Just taken by Andreessen.
Andreessen over, backhanded down by Trent Becky.
And this thing goes down before check for the Gophers.
Huskies tried to sweep it to the front of the net, and this is going to go all the way down.
No icing.
Carter-Skevich moves it up quickly.
Gophers trying to make a lion treat in a big hit right at the line.
The Huskies were knocked out, Nevers with that hit coming back out.
Here are the Gophers back across the line.
Huskies taking the play and back out to center-ice it goes.
Nevers with a big body contact on Reinhardt.
Good to see Reinhardt get up.
Physical
start here early.
15 minutes left to go in the first period.
Huskies and the Gophers no score back across the line now.
Michigan Tech bring him down with a loose puck at the side of the goal, goes back to the corner now.
Shot taken.
Delil on their wrap around attempt, right to the front of the goal.
Delil trying to find it, and finally he's fished out of there by Devon Moore, and he'll send it back over to the far side.
From behind his net, cleared back out the center ice.
Husky's got to be careful here.
They don't have anybody back, and the Coppers will shoot it in for a line change.
Nice shift
there by Jonson.
Tried that wrap around using his side.
Miller now off the center ice.
Tipped all the way down by Michigan Tech.
No ice in here.
Merr going back for it for the Gophers.
Slaps it off the board.
And the Gophers nearly turned it over.
Loose puck in the middle.
Here's a pass over, but a good defensive play made there.
And cleared back out to center ice.
Bormbeck got a piece of that one.
Good fake there by Tosca Pergi.
Tosca Pergi going to move it up.
off of the stick of a Husky.
Picking it up now.
Rulette, center zippered.
That was out of the reach of Cheechek.
Cheechek looking for it.
He'll send it over.
Here's Miller with a shot.
Dipped right to the net.
Had to get a piece of that one, but it went wide.
And Michigan Tech now on the floor.
Checked as the Gopers were trying to get it clear.
And they do back up the center ice.
Back down inside the Michigan Tech zone.
Passed pace again here today.
Between these two teams.
Michigan Tech back behind the net, no score, 13-21 left to go in the first period.
Huskies across the line, here comes Bernie, Bernie with a shot and a save by the pass goal, covers it up with a rebound.
That was a nice break out there by Tech, they took their time, got in their formation and was able to find Bernie coming through the middle here with speed.
Just before that, we're looking at Whipple on the replay, just a quick wrist shot in, deflected off the text defender.
Artis Kevich didn't see it until it hit him right in the shoulder, just inches from finding that top corner.
Face-off down inside of the Minnesota zone, the Huskies will put Van Blericaan to take the draw after a sentiment was relieved of his duties.
Mech out the center ice, it's clear, and let's go down to ice level with Brady Glennle.
Brady.
Yeah, Luca Fasciano, we've talked about his size.
He had a one-on-one battle with another big boy, Javon Moore.
His size and his stick length is so awesome because it allows him to get in the way and disrupt defenses, and he want to go to one-on-one battle there, and he's been doing that his whole career.
Tom Leppa now to take the face-off for Michigan Tech in the offensive zone.
And I'll be Wyatt Cullen, who's on the wing here tonight, but he's taking this draw.
And they're going to take Tom Leppa out of the draw.
So Van Blericombe will have to step in again.
That's twice now.
Lepa's been tossed.
No score here in the first period.
Just about seven minutes gone.
It's been a quick seven minutes.
Very few stoppages.
No, no ice sheet here.
Gophers try to set it in.
Huskies take it away and back up the center ice.
There's Tom Lepa being chased down by Zeamer.
Lepa trying to ward him off.
Centers it.
Belching puck was very difficult to handle.
And the Gophers are going to try to get it clear.
They can't.
Second opportunity though will be skated up to center-ice.
Humphrey's with it.
Just too far for him.
Picked up now by Cullen.
Wyatt Cullen is dangerous.
His shot and a save made there by Goltender Bartoskevic.
Rebound picked up again by Cullen.
He'll get it back to the point.
Rambach sends it over to the corner right to the front of the net.
That was dangerous.
One of the Huskies went down hard.
That was Kalen Parker.
And right now the Gophers are buzzing.
Huskies are out of position.
Controlled.
There's a shot and scooped up there by Goltender Bartoskevic
for a whistle.
With that top line of the gophers, Cullen, Humphries, and Zemer doing what they do.
Watch Wyatt Cullen skate.
Just looks a little different, doesn't he?
Coming down on that left side, got a good shot through, but he's got a little hop almost to his stride.
He never stopped moving.
Bayes off down.
It's not the Michigan Tech Show.
To the left, the Barton Scavige.
That line really had it going on there against the Huskies.
This is Kutank who put out the Max Costa-Gerty line with Mulev and Cicek.
Cicek, a player for the Huskies.
It ended out of the lineup last year.
I think the coaching staff still feels like there's something there that can be an everyday player and he's played well this weekend so far.
Back to the point as the Gophers do win the draw.
No score here in the first career, eight minutes in.
Lock it down, Ludkey.
Ludkey got it to the front and covered up there by Vardiskevic.
And we're starting to see the skill really come out with this Minnesota Golden Goal for team with the 15 NHL draft picks.
Yeah, it's really only a matter of time, right?
They have that much talent on the ice.
They're a team coming together here for the first time with their new coach.
They're going to find their game as
the season progresses.
Face-off in front of Bartoskiewicz again.
No score here in the first period.
12-08 remaining.
Huskies will try to win this one, then up to center-ice.
They do, but it's shot right back in on a delayed offside.
I'll give Tyler Miller a little bit of time behind his net in the trapezoid.
And now he'll wait to set this up.
Five shots from Michigan Tech 3 for the golfers here in the first half of the first period.
And it's going to be offside called against Roulette, I believe.
And go down to Brady Gallato, who's at ice level by the Michigan Tech Vents.
Brady.
Yeah, Dirk, very calm energy from Michigan Tech on the bench here.
Obviously, they know Minnesota is going to come out flying this whole game to respond from last night's loss.
Michigan Tech is calm, cool, and collected right now.
Face-off will be in the neutral zone.
LeBron Moore, playing that left wing, just a fantastic player.
Does things that a guy that size really shouldn't be able to do right, Brent.
Six foot two, lanky.
Lofgren now will skate it up, crossed the line down inside the Michigan Tech zone.
No score here in the first period.
This is Trent Becky, moves it along, Giovanni comes in to pick it up, he'll take a hit, delivers it back off the center ice, Evan Moore's gotta find it.
He does and sends it back up to the wing.
Taken now by Moore, crossed for Lofgren back inside of the Michigan Tech corner.
Battle for the puck down to the left wing corner.
The Michigan Tech zone.
No score here at the John McGatis student.
Nice, Rita.
Bouncing puck gets back to the blue line.
Nicely kicked back in by Nevers.
And back behind it, that big hit there on Andreessen.
Huskies will get the clear up to center ice.
And Trembekki trying to get some separation.
Trembekki coming down, protects the puck.
Hames on to it.
Tried to get it over to the late guy coming in.
And just a tip of the stick there by the defense.
Houses the opportunity here for the Gophers and clubbed down there by Bartoskevic.
What a sequence there by...
Haven Moore come back on Trebecky, break that play up, and Trebecky had one of his teammates lined up for a one-timer.
Moore broke that play up and then started the rush the other way.
Puck eventually found him, but good back check here.
Good stick work.
Then traded offense.
Off
that dangerous defensive play.
Base off will be down in front of Bartoskevich.
Still no score, 10-53 left in the first period.
He'll be brought to you by the Wickley Agency.
Shots five for Michigan Tech four.
For the Gophers.
Boznik will step in to take the draw in the offensive zone for Minnesota.
Born against Dalil, Dalil will win it back and onto Shipley.
Shipley sends it over to his defensive partner right in front of the Michigan Tech goal.
That is Tyler Miller.
Villal across the line.
Villal looking to the far side almost was able to hit Latimer was just out of reach.
He was pretty well defended as well and back out the center.
It is taken by the Gophers, but the Huskies shoot it right back in.
Knocked down there by Goldbender to pass.
Well, off of the board, back out to center ice.
Huskies tipped that out of play.
Will have a stoppage with 10.30 left to go in the period.
If I think you're Carson Latimer though, that's exactly how you want to play.
Went hard to that far post using that great speed.
Just a little in front of him.
But great idea.
Face-off now in the neutral zone here with the John McGinnis student at Icerita.
Dirk Hembromp along with Brent Peterson, Brady Gallardo down at ice level.
Here in a Sunday afternoon edition of Michigan Tech Hockey, taking on the Gophers.
Shot all the way in, no score.
Michigan Tech in on the forecheck.
Delil will get there first.
Takes a hit from Wickel.
Huck is stolen away by the Gophers.
And worked up the ice to the center.
Hendricks able to get it across the line.
Quickly taken though by Tyler Miller.
Cooked on the brakes with a little bit of trouble.
Miller with a nice sauce pass off the backhand.
Able to get it up to Shipley.
Shipley's going to get the red light and shoot it in.
That is a heavy play right there by Tyler.
Miller back all the way down.
This will be an icing call against the Gophers.
And Brent, you saw that play.
He was feeling some pressure having to slam on the brakes and the trappers went right behind the
net.
just to have the poise to not just, you know, throw it up past his minger into trouble.
He just had the patience for a nice little touch on it.
That was his deep partner he set up.
Shiply, that allowed him to exit the zone.
That's not easy to do when you got two guys having you lined up for a
big
collision.
Under the 10-minute mark now, but no media time out due to the ice team call against the Gophers.
Max Koskibergi will take the face off.
Interesting formation they brought.
Roulette back to the blue line.
They got three tectas,
three across the blue line.
They did that.
We saw that quite a bit last night, too.
Good win here, though, by the Gophers to get it clear.
And the Huskies will have to manage it out at center ice.
A little bit of a delay, then sent in by Brenton, sent around.
And the Huskies will hold it in.
Picked up though by the goal first set back to the near side wall hustling down as Brenton getting their first though number seven counterpart Hendrick said those two went at it a little bit last night couple of penalties late in the game back out the center eyes and dumped inside the Michigan Tech zone no icing here and so getting down there the gopers will try to get possession and working it down to that corner there is Humphrey's who played well last night here's a chance right to the front of the goal attempted there by Zebra goes back to the point now this line has been causing trouble for the Huskies
Bouncing cock picked up down by Roulette, goes hard off of the boards, does get it clear.
The Huskies get a little bit of room.
Backhanded down wisely there by Tosca Fiercey to get a line change.
Now Michigan Tech with some new skaters out there.
Begley will bring it up for the Govers across the line.
Seymour with a shot and he just meant to it wide.
Almost hop right back out in front.
He was going for that left side and didn't miss it by much.
Heck up top again.
Begley able to send it over.
Up this with a shot towards the goal, looking for a redirect.
Huskies right now, back up against the ropes.
Here's a chance at the side of the goal, stolen away there by Andresa.
They'll clear it off the glass and will come back out the center ice and it won't go all the way down, so the Huskies won't have to worry about an icing, but the Gophers trying to come right back across.
Van Blericom gets a piece of it, he'll send it down, and the Gophers start from inside of their own zone again.
Lucky, up the center ice.
Takes a hit, loses control of the puck, and picked up now by the defense of Shipley.
A couple of players going down.
The fans hollering a little bit.
And Michigan Tech now will take it from behind their own net.
8-16 left to go in the first period.
There is no score here at the John McGinnis student ice cream.
Huskies across the line, can't handle it cleanly.
Trembachy follows it up in the corner.
Locker will take him into the boards in the right side.
Michigan Tech, couple of players down there.
That is Morneau working against Mer.
Locker is there.
Morneau comes up at the puck, trying to get it back to
Shippley couldn't do it, but the Huskies somehow able to hold it in, waiting down there as Shrembäki.
He centers it right to the front, and nobody was there for the Huskies in time.
Moreno was in the area.
Here's Shrembäki trying to drag it to the front, shot for the point, plumbed up by Goltender to pass goal, and that brings us to our media timeout.
And there'll be a penalty here.
And we'll wait for the call.
Let's see the replay here.
Trebecky tried to bring that
himself.
That was Trebecky and Lofgren getting it, and Lofgren just gave him one extra shot here at the end.
That's what's going to get called.
I believe that will be it.
We'll see, listen in to the call.
226, two minutes for Ruffin.
No score here at the John McGillus student ice rate.
A power play for the Huskies coming up.

Power play for the Huskies brought to you by Edward Jones, financial advisor Brent Peterson.
The Huskies were over one on the man advantage last night.
No score here at the back.
And a good clear by the Vofers all the way down with 7-36 left to go in the first.
Yeah, that's a clever player.
Play by Whipple, just firing it up the middle, knowing that the boards were taken away.
Huskies on the power play.
D to D, up the center ice, that is next to Van Blericom, dumped all the way in.
Van Blericom going in on the forecheck, attempted to wrap around quickly there by Hendricks.
And Whipple now will get a chance to send it down.
Nothing happening so far, Brent, on this power play.
Oh, they're unable to get settled with the puck.
That was their first attempt on the line rush.
Now brought up by Shipley.
Shippley will work it back, Van Plericom slides it over, that hopped over a stick.
Huskies will gain the zone, and in a little bit of trouble right now, but a nice play back to the point here.
Shippley, his shot, loose buck in front, never got to the goal tenor.
This might sneak back out the center ice, and it does.
That's a good block shot there by the golfer.
This Shippley came right down the middle, wide open.
6-45 left to go in the first power play for the Huskies for another 60 seconds.
And they're going to send it all the way back inside of their zone.
Huskies trying to get organized here.
Gets a new player personnel out on the ice and brought up now by Michigan Tech.
Reinhardt will drop it back.
Andreessen, the pass.
Trembekki hauls it in.
Trembekki gets it back to the point now.
Andreessen slides it over.
Michigan Tech gets it now.
Up top Andreessen looking at the net, looking at the net.
Hands it off.
Huskies nearly turned it over.
Play on the far side by Roulette.
Now low for Andreessen.
Huskies, I don't know if this is the positioning that they are looking for, but up top, Koski Perti, over.
Here's Roulette, over.
And Trembekki could not one time it.
He had half of a net, had he been able to one time that cleanly.
Back up to Koski Perti on his off hand, gets it down to Trembekki, got a piece of that one, pushes it forward.
Huskies keeping it alive and working to the wing.
11 seconds left to go in the power play.
Roulette up top, back for Roulette.
Roulette trying to walk it in, gets it down low, pass to the front, and just out of reach there of Trembekki.
Good play by the Evokers to tip that, but...
Huskies keeping alive.
Sanarita, tap back to the point, and recent shoots, save, rebound, and it goes to the quarter.
The penalty is over, cleared down, and this will be an icing call against the Goufers.
Huskies come up short on the power play, but we'll get an offensive
zone face off.
That's a good save by the goaltender there, deep pass, Guaos.
He came out to challenge that shot by Andreessen.
Tech just moving it through on the power play, just could not get the handle on some of these
Cross ice seams pass just a little bit off with some good sticks by the Gophers But two chance they're one by Adresa and the other one ship me in the center of the ice from the
point And they're gonna knock could be Center bed Brooks Cullen give him a warning it looks like Big kill for the Gophers
On the Huskies' power play, Michigan Tech got it going on towards the end of that man advantage.
Back to even strength, 5-22 left to go in the first, no score.
Here at the John McGinnis, good and nice here.
The Huskies won last night, 3-2.
Branson will send it back in.
Burnie with a wraparound, fighting, and they almost went off a lot this in.
And while the stoppage of play, we'll go down to Brady Galletto, who's at ice level.
Brady.
Luke Shipley, number four for Michigan Tech.
He is so creative.
You watch on that power play breakout there.
They run a drop pass breakout.
The first time he's going to drop it.
The second time they try to break out.
He looks back like he's going to do it.
Pritchard bites on it, and that creates space for him to create some offense.
Huskies will change down the lines up here after seeing what Minnesota brings onto the ice.
One year ago today, the Huskies and the Gokers were playing at Marriott Arena.
Drop control by...
Minnesota cleared all the way down inside of the Michigan Tech zone.
There will be no icing.
Nine shots from Michigan Tech.
Four for the Gophers, no score.
This one slides all the way back inside the Gopher end.
Featuring it down now will be Whipple.
Whipple's got great speed.
He's down there by Roulette.
Roulette takes it away.
Center's in the front, tries to, hangs onto it now in front again.
Here's Miller with a shot, rebound is there.
Husky's trying to find it.
Three or four guys right in the top of the crease.
And the Gophers able to clear on a good play by Whipple to get it down, but this should be an icing call and it will.
Wow, another great scoring chance from the tech defender.
This time, I believe, was Miller.
Took that pass from, I think, was Roulette.
All sorts of time as he sort of pulled it.
The tow drag got a good shot off.
There he is, all right in the center of the slot again.
Three glorious chances for the deck
demon.
Muskie's had four guys.
And about a 10 by 10 area.
The shot by the Huskies fanned on by Latimer.
Michigan Jack will have to be careful on this one as Mo will bring it up across the line.
Offside for the Gophers.
They don't realize it, but the Huskies gained possession anyway.
Now, Elias Jonson had a goal last night.
21st of the square picked up by Latimer.
Latimer from behind the net.
He's going to take it all the way wide.
And then backhands it down on the cycle.
Taken away there by the Gophers.
Now a loose puck down to the right wing corner.
Battle for there.
Whipple is down there again.
Able to push it up to the wing.
Mow trying to clear it away, but the Huskies are right there.
Big hit.
Huskies, though, can't hold it in.
It comes back off the center ice.
A couple of players tied up down inside of the gopher end, and that allowed the Huskies to not bring it inside of the zone.
Under four to play here in the period.
Here, Kimber off along with Brent Peterson and Brady Galletto here at the John McGillis Student Ice Freedom.
No score.
And now the gophers will bring it up to center ice.
And they get a couple of nice stick-handling moves with Wyatt Cullen.
Lost it for a moment.
Zebra now will fire it inside of the zone.
This is that hugely dangerous line for the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
Cleared back up by Michigan Tech.
This will be an icing call against the Huskies in a faceout coming back inside of the Michigan Tech zone.
I want to tell you that Pizzani Company of Atlantic Mine has been distributing your favorite beverages since 1942.
Enjoy Blue Moon, White Claw, Bell's Coors, Coors Lighting, the official seltzer of the NHL Truly.
All distributed by Pizzani, a family-owned company in Atlantic Mine.
Face-off down in front of Baryskevich, no score, three and a half left to go in the period.
Notice both lines, both teams changing quickly.
You don't want to get caught out there tired.
This is another fast-paced game.
Michigan Tech will win the face-off inside of their own zone, flipped up to center-ice.
And now the gopers will turn from their own blue line.
A lot more.
Able to send it over to the right side.
Bring it down as Jackson Nevers.
Nevers will poke it to behind the net.
Trying to get a piece of that with Leppa.
Pushed it forward.
And some big hitting that you can hear going on.
Down inside the Michigan Tech zone.
Kicked up now by Bernie.
He'll get the red line.
That line will come off the ice.
10 shots to the fore.
Michigan Tech with the shot advantage, but there is no score here at the Mac.
Glad to have you with us here on MIX 93 WKMJ for a little Sunday afternoon.
Division one, Kalajaki.
Nevers.
Across the Michigan Tech line, we'll take a hit.
Delivers it down, and that mainly went out to play.
And that will bring up a whistle with 2.49.
We head down to Brady Gletto at ice level.
Brady.
Yeah, Derrick, you saw the icing there from Luca Fasciano.
Benton Mass letting him, and all of his defensemen know.
That's the right idea, but you want to put a little more air on him.
Michigan Tech has tall glass here.
And when you need to get the puck out, it's good.
You just flip it right off the glass, and it'll settle right at center ice on the opposing team's blue line.
We're
going to have a face up at center ice.
Brooks Cullen will take the drop or the gopers.
Going against the Lill.
The Lill, Jonson and Owen Baker, that line combination for Michigan Tech.
Muskie's trying to get it inside of the zone.
Latimer now will steal.
Latimer sends it over and a chance right to the doorstep.
Everybody was on the wrong hand on that situation for Michigan Tech.
Everybody headed on their back ends.
This will go all the way down for an icing call.
And if everybody could have just switched sides of the ice, that probably would have been a much better play for the Huskies.
There was Latimer again.
He's had a good period, earning a little bit more ice time, jumping off that faceoff to create that mini-opportunity.
Again, he's got very springy legs, powerful stride.
When he gets that big frame
bone, he's hard to stop.
Cullen's going to get bounced out of the cage, Sovereign.
Get a warning, I guess.
Huskies will win the drawback, but hopped over the stick of Andreessen, a clean win from Michigan Tech, but Puck was rolling around.
And so the Huskies will have to clear the zone.
They'll not get right back into the right wing corner.
220 left to go here in the first period.
That's where the Wickel agency right to the part of that.
The Huskies, more or no, trying to make a play.
And it goes back to the point.
Bassiano sends it over.
Andreessen, boy, the Puck is really
Bouncing around right now.
This one goes to the near side corner now.
Where it's picked up by Giovanni Morneau.
Morneau, couple of maroon jerseys all over him.
Husky won't be able to hold this one in as it comes back out to center ice.
No score.
Two minutes left to go here in the period.
Husky get it in deep and then we'll make a line change in the meantime.
G-check comes out.
Evan Merer with it with control for the Gophers.
Hendrickson will send it wide.
Here come the Gophers back across the Michigan Tech line.
Begley taking a move to the front of the net, stays on his stick, and sent it high over the glass, or over the net, I should say, off the glass.
And back out to the blue line.
The Huskies not able to clear.
Turned over, inside the Michigan Tech zone.
Making a nice play down to the right wing side.
Here's Bernabek, Bernabek, down to the quarter now.
And we get it to Moe.
Moe takes it all the way back out and tipped out the center ice.
Sent down, we're going to wave out the icing.
As the Huskies go back inside of their own zone, no score here in the first period, a minute 15 remaining.
Cleared out to center-rides.
Husky trying to kick it back across the line.
Gophers will steal it away and bringing it back across and it's in the inside of the zone.
Puts on the brakes, loses it, but then sends it back down inside the Michigan
Tech End.
Now to
the corner.
Passed up, Cheechek.
Ooh, takes a heavy hit, but he delivers a pass out just in time as we are under a minute to play.
Cheechek will go to the bench and right in on goaltender Bartoskiewicz, who will hold on for the whistle.
Houghton Building Supply, M26 at Houghton, behind Keywood Automotive, has been providing quality building materials to homeowners, contractors, and remodelers all over the copper country.
From the foundation to the rooftop, Houghton Building Supply.
That was John Whipple timing that hit perfectly on Cheechek, right on the blue line, using his legs to get in that play and make a physical play.
Back out to center-ice a bouncing puck picked up now by the Huskies to the front of the goal a little bit too hot their handle there for Tom Leppah back in behind the net.
Sattery pass in front and then Larry Tom was right there trying to get a stick on it.
Well defended though by the Gophers and cleared back out to neutral play.
Thirty seconds left to go the first period.
We are still scoreless.
Cleared up to center-ice Humphries not able to make that play and the Huskies get it across the line on a delayed offside.
It's still offside.
And back down inside the zone, they're going to wave off the ice scene.
And as Bartoskiewicz will leave it there for Fasciano.
Fasciano turns it around, Mandela-Kahn was turned around the wrong way, and was not along the wall there.
That's a mistake by the Huskies.
Right in on goal there for Coltender Bartoskiewicz, with five seconds left to go, off of his last clue back up the center ice.
And that'll do it, the first period in the books.
Michigan Tech with the 11 shots, the Huskies getting some good chances.
Minnesota with six shots in that first pair.
They had some good chances as well.
Only one power play.
Went to Michigan Tech.
Came close.
And nothing to show up for either team.
No score after one.
Now, this
has been a really entertaining first period.
You can tell the teams are getting a little ornery with each other.
The physical play of thought stepped up a bit from last night.
A couple of big body checks.
Both ways, but I'm thinking of the
Gopher's defenseman.
Yeah, this is kind of what we expected to carry over of last
night.
Carson Latimer is down at ice level in the tunnel.
Carson, a pretty good first period for both teams.
I thought your thoughts on that first period.
I think we were just working and playing our way and I think we just continue to do that.
We'll wear them down and I like our chances.
Carson, I thought you had an excellent period.
You were skating well using your speed.
Is that type of your game that you want to get to?
Yeah, I just wanted to use my feet as much as I can, play physical and make it hard on them out there.
Good luck in the snacking, Carson.
All right.
Carson Latimer here on MIX 93 and Midco Plus.
And we are at the first intermission.

MIX 93, first intermission.
I'm being brought to you by Ryla Kitchens.
No score between the Huskies and the Gophers, a pretty good play.
The Huskies with 11 shots, five for the Gophers, missing a tackle for one on the power play.
We have a special guest coming up in just a little bit.
Let's get right to our Little Caesars Hot and Ready.
Who's that Husky?
Brought to you by Little Caesars of Houghton.
Here's your chance to win a free pizza from Little Caesars of Houghton.
You must be 18 years of age and someone who has not won any contest on MIX 93 or WMPL in the past.
30 days.
Okay, here we go.
This former Husky from Georgetown, Ontario, war number 26 at the defenseman between 2007 and 2011.
His senior season, he tied with two other players as the team's linear scores with 21 points, but it was his sophomore year that he scored a huge overtime winner against the Gophers right here at the back after his teammate Drew Dobson had scored a hat trick, which we talked about last night.
The Husky that we're looking for
has the initials, DC.
Think you know who that Husky is?
Then call the mix line, 906, 483, 4054.
Right now for a chance at a free little Caesar's Pizza.
That's 906, 483, 4054.
Again, we're looking for a defenseman from Georgetown, Ontario that played for the Huskies from 2007 to 2011.
And his sophomore year, he scored a huge overtime winner back in the old WCHA days against the Gophers right here.
at the John McGinnis Student Nice Minute.
You think you know who that is?
The initials are DC 906-483-4054.
And we'll see if we get a winner.
Mark Boxer from USA Hockey.
And of course, from the Houghton Hancock area.
And the name just rings hockey when you say Boxer.
And Mark, nice to see you.
Had a chance to chat with you a little bit last night.
We don't get to see you nearly enough.
It's been a long time since you've lived in these parts, isn't it?
Yes.
It's been about 25 years.
It's amazing what they've done with the rink here.
I just think it's first class.
I was up in the suite the other night, and it's just an awesome feel up there.
And like I said, the crowd, everything, it's just been awesome to see this.
How
long has it actually been since you've actually been here?
Well,
I'm back up every summer.
But in the building here?
probably 20 years.
Is it been that well?
Yeah,
probably 20 years.
Yeah, so new seeds, new everything.
It looks great.
It really does.
Of course,
your dad coached here.
You played hockey at Miami, but you played hockey for the Hancock Bulldogs.
Had a wonderful hockey career.
And talk a little bit about, again, what you have been doing.
I know your titles have changed over the years at USA Hockey in Colorado Springs, but talk a little bit about your career there.
So I mean essentially I started out in the youth hockey program there with all our development camps and doing all that but for basically the last 15 years I've been doing a lot of all of our national team stuff whether now I'm the I'm our player personnel director for all our national teams now so I'm pretty fortunate I have a fun job I get to come here and see a lot of good people I wish I could get up here a little bit more
It's not the easiest place to get to as you know, but but that's what makes it special, right?
It really does.
Yeah, so like I said, I've been this is my 25th year and it's it's hard to believe but Colorado Springs is a really neat spot And I where we live and lots of good people just you know just like up here salt of the earth people and like I said, it's at some point We'll probably look at getting back here, but you know not anywhere in the near future.
So
Mark Boxer former Hancock resident and
Of course, his dad coached here as we mentioned at Michigan Tech.
He played at Miami and you've been in Colorado Springs for a long time.
You talk about Colorado Springs and how great of a place it is, but it's, who means still, isn't it?
I get just constantly getting busy, busier and bigger.
It is.
It's a busy place.
And you know, you have the Olympic Training Center there.
You have the Air Force Academy there.
You have Ford Carson there, Peterson Air Force Base.
You have the special space force there as well.
Just to met Colorado College, you know University of Colorado at Colorado Springs like it's just it's a very busy place Like I said, it's I don't think the city planners did a great job You know in planning the infrastructure because it's you know certain times of the day You just you just don't want to be out there.
So
we were talking a little bit last night when we do get to the USA hockey offices in Colorado Springs
for people from the Michigan Tech area and related to the Michigan Tech athletic department and the hockey team.
It's like going home.
You got Dave Fisher up there.
You've got Scooter Aldridge and a bunch of
them.
Yeah, Scooter's great.
Scooter, like I said, he's kind of like the lifeblood of our national teams because he's responsible for all the gear, for all our national teams.
Without him, I don't know what we'd be doing, but he does a great job there and obviously fishes.
He's our USA hockey, SID basically, right?
And he's, obviously, everybody knows fish, so he does a real good job as well.
Well, you watched the game last night, Mark.
You're a great...
Judge of talent talk a little bit about these two teams obviously in Minnesota, Michigan Tech that old rivalry that we don't get to see as much anymore
Yeah, you know Billy Billy has the Huskies really going they look like they're in midseason form very connected very tactical Minnesota a little bit tried to play a little bit more wide open.
That's their style You know I spoke to Billy and and and Brett Larson the head coach of Minnesota before the game You know Minnesota wants to get in a track meet.
You know, I know tech really doesn't know they want to they want to play tight
and then force the team to make turnovers and then they're going to capitalize on those turnovers and they've done a heck of a job tonight and last night so I know Minnesota wants to get up and get going but the Huskies aren't letting them play their game so obviously you know kudos to Billy and their squad because they look really good right
now I can't let you go without talking a little bit about Olympic action last last winter I mean what a
time it must have been for you guys in your offices after before and during and everything.
No it's been you know like the last 10 years I think we've had a ton of success in a lot of areas and you know like listen we beat Canada
they're a heck of a hockey playing country and like I said we were fortunate you know to win in overtime and yeah now we capitalize on same with our women's program and our sled program so three gold medals we celebrated that this summer at our annual meetings a lot of people came in it was really cool
You know once in a lifetime type thing,
you know,
so it was it was great And like I said, we've you know, you just but again, it's just like now it's start over right that was that was six months ago And now we got to reload keep doing what we're doing and hopefully you have success like we have you know and just keep building on it
Hanging out in West Hancock at all this weekend.
Yes, I've been Staying with my good buddy Jeff make it so it's been fun I actually took his e-bike for about three hours yesterday and rode all over the Copper Country and so like I said I love the people up here and like I said just to see the building packed and You know, it's just it's just makes you feel good that hockey is alive and well
here at Michigan Tech.
We don't see you very often, Mark.
It's always nice to see you.
Thank you so much for being on here with tonight.
Today, I should say, Mark Boxer from USA Hockey, formerly of the Copper Country.
We'll take a break and be back with more.
No score here in the second or in the first intermission between the Huskies and the Gophers on MIX 93 at Midco Sports.
Man, I'm so hungry.
I could eat an entire Little Caesar's Pizza.
Oh, get real.
Brilliant.

Houghton.
Welcome back here on MIX 93 WKMJ.
First intermission being brought to you by Ryla Kitchens of Houghton.
We got a winner on our Hot and Ready Who's That Husky brought to you by Little Caesars of Houghton.
And here was the clue again.
This former Husky was from Georgetown, Ontario, who wore number 26 as a defenseman between 2000 and 2007 and 2011.
His senior season, he tied with two other players as a team leading scorer with 21 points.
In his software year, he scored a huge overtime winner against the Gophers here at the Mac.
After his teammate Drew Dofton had scored a hat-trick in that same game.
The initials of this player we're looking for, DC.
Well, congratulations to Mike Patterson of Hancock.
The correct answer, Darren Cousins.
Great defense for the Huskies, really consistent.
And Darren Cousins had this overtime winner to make it a 6-5 final right here at the Mac, back.
in the 2010s.
Here is Olson across the line for Michigan Tech.
Drops it for Baker.
Baker sends it over for Kinraid.
Kinraid will settle it down for Cousins Cousins.
Shot taken.
So there you go.
Darren Cousins the right answer.
That is little seizures of Houghton.
Hot and ready.
Who's that Husky?
Congratulations again to Mike Patterson.
And thanks to Mark Boxer from USA Hockey, formerly of Hancock, stepping in with us.
And Brent, I know you know Mark pretty well as well.
Great hockey player, great hockey mind.
Had a nice career down in Miami of Ohio.
And it's just been at USA Hockey for an awfully long time with a lot of other Copper Country, former Copper Country people.
Yeah, it's quite a
little connection out there in Colorado Springs.
And had a nice chat with him last night, what he's doing in town.
kind of has worked with the U.S.
World Junior team and some of those other programs that he's working with.
USA Hockey's in really good hands when you watch all of their teams compete internationally all up and down their lineups.
Tremendous skill level.
Absolutely.
The first inhibition being brought to by Ryla Kitchens.
And we'll take a break.
The second period coming up real soon.
No score here at the back between the Huskies and the Gophers.
11 shots for Michigan Tech 5 for
Minnesota, second period coming up here on MIX 93.

Either here on the radio or on the go plus.
Huskies will be traveling.
Watch out, the Linesman going down.
It's been not a good weekend for Linesman.
Here at the back, sent down inside of the Gopers zone.
Back to pick it up there is Lothgren.
Lothgren moving it to the wing.
Huskies keep it in there for a second, kicked up nicely by the Gopers and flipped up high into the air.
Almost hit the scoreboard, if it didn't.
If it didn't, back around now, it picked up by Tyler Miller.
Miller inside of his own zone for the Huskies.
Pushes it up.
This is deflected to the middle of the ice.
Henrichs now will take it up.
Stepping up in the play is Chipley.
And Chipley forces the turnover.
His stick is being lifted up.
He loses it.
Now Evan Ruer with it.
Both teams trading turnovers.
Back across the line.
Husky get it back again.
But the puck is getting away from everybody.
Zebra down there.
Sends it over to the right side.
Mow with it.
Now he'll get it back to the point that hopped over.
And this won't be Asin, so the Husky will.
Have a chance to make a line change here, and it's go tender to pass goal with Finden around it.
Scarlet's here on the second period.
First minute of play.
This will be an ice team against the Gophers.
The face-up coming up inside their zone.
Yeah, just no time out there.
If you lift a stick, your stick is getting lifted.
The game is so quick.
They're playing at such a pace.
Just got them any time you stop and stick handle.
That's it.
Brady, Glenna,
what are you seeing down there at ice level by the Michigan Tech bench?
You see both teams are conversing before this face-off.
These are things you go over in practice.
You drop different face-off plays to see if you can get an upper edge on the other opposing team.
Gopher's trying to get it clear.
Can't do it.
Kept in by Lepa.
Lepa kicks it to his forehand, then loses it, and will follow it up in the corner.
Got it to Bernie.
Bernie, go pass to the front!
Nice pass to Matthew Van Blericombe, looking for his third of the weekend in a pass goal again with a great save right on the doorstep as we saw a couple of
times last night.
Bernie with a great play, going behind the net, threw it back to where he came from on his back end.
Van Blericombe, good patience just to settle in.
He one-timed it, wasted no time getting it.
He just couldn't get it.
The only way to beat the goaltender would have been under the bar, but great bang-bang play
and a good save.
Picked up now, but the Huskies on for the face-off, but tipped back to the line, kicked up by Fasciano, and picked up, pictured across the line, pictured able to get it down to the right wing, half-wall anyway, and now behind the Michigan Tech goal.
And a dangerous play right there, the Huskies got a bit of a break.
This one's going to go out of play for a face-off.
Our second period being brought to you by Copper Country.
4-12 shots for the Huskies, five for the Gopers.
No score.
Richard
just stumbled slightly on that potential two-on-one.
If he didn't, that would have been clear cut two-on-one, dangerous player.
Number three, Pritchard with jab and more.
He was the one going to the net.
Pritchard, of course, was the one that made that play from the similar area last night.
He gave the Gopers their first goal of the weekend.
18-30 left in the second period.
We are looking at a scoreless tie right now.
Moskis will win the face-off, but...
Luka Fasciano had to step up on the play, got it to Andresa, who nudges it forward for Cicek, who knows he's going to take a hit, moves it to Coscopier, he's stepping up now, will be left to Luka Fasciano.
Fasciano sends it over, this pass intercepted, and cleared back out to center-ice now.
Andresa's going to have to hustle it down inside of his own zone, being chased down by Yvonne Moore.
Huskies moving it quickly up to center-ice, trying to get the red line, plus Cicek did, did not get it deep.
Huskies will follow it up and able to change up to at least one defenseman out there.
Watch out, that puck came right through as the Huskies were making a line change back down again.
Boy, a couple of big whacks there on the stick.
Going in is Richard, in on the forecheck, keeps the puck along the wall, down the right wing corner of the Michigan Tech zone.
No score here in the second period.
Picked up now by Van Dericke off the board, trying to hit Bernie.
Bernie able to pick it up.
Bernie to the net, and just to not get the shot off.
Good try there by Bernie, and two guys comfort him back on that playoff for the Gophers, and it stays inside of the Gopher zone.
Deflected by Lepa, just wider than that off the backhand.
Back to the point again, Husker for hold today.
Quick shot towards the goal, quickly deflected wider than that.
Hitching in from the point now, Brenton trying to find it.
Send it back behind the net, Lepa.
Couple of big guys right there.
Strong hockey flares behind the net.
No trapezoid.
Moved around by Evan Mer.
The stick work is incredible from both teams.
Back around again, inside of the zone.
And the Gulpers will pitch this one back out the center ice that is onside across and they call it a hand pass which it was.
And Jabon Moore will have to hold off on that one or face off coming
up.
Just another good shift there by that Lepa line.
And Blairecon threw it actually behind the board behind Bernie as he was skating up the ice so he would skate into it.
Smart play took the defenseman out of it.
But this line together just uses their size and speed.
so well and they play such a simple approach.
Get it to the net quickly.
Not a lot of stick handling.
I think in doing that they're able to read off each other and they're always sort of a step ahead.
Been the best line for Michigan Tech all weekend and it's continuing here in the second.
We're going to drop the puck at center ice after the hand pass.
Aske's in their cold uniform tonight.
The Lille taking the draw.
And the Gophers will swing it back inside of their own zone.
Rambach now with it.
He'll go D to D. And the Gophers have a little bit of trouble.
DeLillo fell down, not able to make the steal.
And the Gophers will have a little bit of time behind the net, because Nica had a piece of that one, but the Huskies sent it right back in.
It would have been outside.
They'll take up.
This will allow the Gophers with a home run stretch pass across the line.
Husky's taken away quickly, getting it on his horse there as Johnson, but could not get away from that back check.
Puznika able to make the play for the Gophers and they will control back instead of their own jump.
Enrich now with it, moving it up off the boards.
And Cullen, that's Brooks Cullen, will send it back over again for Whipple.
Whipple coming across, Whipple, good speed, gets down, holds it onto a stick, wrapper on a tip, got it there!
Same thing there, but it's coming in there, shot!
Flopped it right off the post!
It went off the post to the left side!
And the Huskies reel in right now.
Chance now for the Gophers from the corner.
Chippley ties his man up.
Down in the right wing corner of the Huskies, picking up Latimer with a nice pass up to Jonson.
Jonson able to get in.
Here come the Huskies.
Three on one.
Latimer shoots, rebound was there.
And in tight was Jonson not able to find that one.
Huskies forced to turn over again.
Watch out.
Pup comes across the line.
And the gopher is trying to find it.
Loose pups is right there.
Huskies can't hold it in.
It's going to go back out to center ice.
Andreessen slaps it back.
Huskies would have been offside.
No score, 15-38 left to go in the period.
We're in the second.
Durkheim-Broff along with Brett Peterson.
Brady Gelato down at ice level.
Wrapped around inside the Michigan Tech zone.
Picked up by the Huskies.
Giovanni Morneau.
He'll get it over to the far side and the Huskies come across with three.
That one turned over, but picked up by Giovanni Morneau.
And a couple of Huskies went down, and that allows that loose puck to be scooped up and brought back the other way.
Now, Ludkey.
Handed it off.
Here's a chance for the Goopers.
A shot and a block.
Shot there by Bassiano, who went down.
Michigan Tech back behind the net, nudged it over.
Huskies need a whistle.
Hired inside of their own zone.
That's Trembekki.
Didn't get much on that one.
Battle for the puck on the half wall.
And Trembekki reaching back there.
Morneau is tied up.
And Michigan Tech will pick it up.
And Morneau is going to try to get to the red line.
Will he try to make a play?
He will not.
And they will dump it in for a line change.
Both teams trading off line changes and played with a high stick, I believe.
Yeah, they're gonna face it off right there in
the neutral zone Brent.
Well the action picked up here.
I think it was Hendrickson who just sort of swept that out of the pile off the post to the right of Bartosiewicz.
And then that three on two for Tick.
Kind of got broken up.
Created a turnover and a four on two back the other way for the Gophers.
Buck just rolled on Mason Moe's stick.
Michigan Tech will win the draw in the neutral zone.
They'll backhand it down.
Still no score here in this game.
Five minutes and some change into the second period.
And brought to you by Copper Country forward.
Brought up now by the goal first, trying to get around the defense.
Well played there by Schiffley.
A little Huskies had a guy wide open in the middle.
They did not know.
Roulette was coming down the middle.
Sheechek had no way of knowing under that pressure that he was in.
And back across the line, the Huskies will hold it in for a moment.
G-check almost had it caught up in his jersey there for a moment.
And a nice move there by Evan Myr to get away from some traffic.
Gets it across the line and shoots it in.
Back inside the Michigan Tech zone.
Six minutes gone here in the period.
Huskies forced the turnover.
And a three on two developing for Michigan Tech.
Koska 30 coming down with Miller.
That's Roulette.
Roulette for the Koska 30.
Broken up nicely by the Gophers.
Backhand and picked up by Miller.
Miller's got a lead to the net, sends it over.
Schatzko!
While a turnover at the blue line, Miller was able to retrieve it to come right down the middle again.
The defenseman coming down the middle, Roulette saw that and opened up wide, left of the deep asquale for a perfect placement of the puck for a one-timer.
But Roulette saw Miller skate down the, right down the zone, he put himself into a shooting position and Miller put it right in the wheelhouse.
Beautiful play by Miller.
And Roulette to give himself, make himself available.
And he made no mistake.
Sharp angle on that shot too.
And the Huskies draw blood first.
First blood here with 1345.
Left here in the second period.
Miller will get the primary assist on that goal.
And here come the Gopers back across the line.
1-0 Michigan Tech.
And Roulette is first goal as a Husky.
Michigan Tech down inside of their own zone.
Little out of start, Zeemar with a steal.
Shot towards the net right to the goal.
That was a dangerous play and a smart play by Zeemar.
That could have went in a bunch of different ways, but it somehow stayed out.
At first shift after a goal, either way is so important.
And right now, the Gophers trying to get something offensively going against the Huskies.
Nice kick pass up for Bernie.
Bernie, the center ice poked away by the Gophers.
Humphries will control it at his own blue line, works it up to Zeemar, and Zeemar will dump it in.
And she get tech trying to finish checks right now.
Out inside of the Michigan Tech zone.
Parker, launching.
And there it comes, got a piece of that.
Humphrey is down there.
The pump is locked up.
Now it comes loose.
Zimmer goes down on the playlist pump right there.
And picked up by Lepa.
Those two guys have really been going at it.
Lepa's angle on that dish out is going to go all the way down on goals.
And oh, I see.
Long changer for the two teams.
You got to really time your...
Ships out there.
Cullen brings it across.
Nice centering pass there.
Poznica down in the quarter.
He'll follow it into the gopher.
Lucius control.
Try to deliver to the front, I believe.
Latimer pushes it forward.
Husky's kicking it up.
And we'll get it clear, but this is going to be an icing call.
And we've got some tired Huskies out there, I believe, right now.
Brent with 12-20 left to go in the period.
1-0 Michigan Tech.
Yeah, as
you're saying that, it's Lepa.
Kind of all on fours trying to catch his breath.
I don't know if Coach McCall will burn a timeout this early in the game.
But clearly, if you're Michigan Tech, Parker doing his best to slowly get back into the faceoff circle.
You're right, Michigan Tech forwards are tired.
Lapa is just trying
to catch his breath.
Maybe trying to stall as long as he can on this.
The Huskies need a whistle.
They win the draw.
They clear it up to centerize.
No chance to get off the ice though.
It's a shot right back in by the Gophers.
No icing here.
Bartoskevic going to have to play it around.
Delil is not going to get it.
That took an awkward hop.
And a chance here for the Gophers.
Henderson right to the front of the goal.
And a chance right there.
Cullen couldn't finish it off.
1-0 Michigan.
Jack Gophers trying to tie it up right now.
Scooped up now by Jonson.
Jonson was skated up.
This will get a chance to get some of these players off.
Jonson with a nice move.
Makes it there.
Top of the key.
Will send it down to the slot.
He'll get a chance there.
Loosepuk picked up by Latimer with that speed.
His pass to the front.
Did not get through cleanly.
And the Huskies able to keep it inside for the moment.
Knocked down by Galil.
He'll push it forward.
Michigan Tech going in on the forecheck.
That's Latimer.
Who we talk to in between periods.
11-32 left to go to the second period.
A 1-0 lead for Michigan Tech.
And a goal by Rula at his versus Ahusky.
Back out to center-ice.
Dumped all the way down.
Artiskevich letting that one hit the side of the net right on the side of the post.
And Michigan Tech now will control inside of their own end.
Brought from behind the net by Reed Andreessen.
Just passed up, top one, hauled down there by Morneau.
It had caught some air, and the Gophers trying to bring up Crossman can't make the play.
Morneau will send it to the middle, and is kicked back down by Reinhardt.
He'll go in on the forward check.
He takes a whopping hit down on the boards as the Gophers continue to play very physical.
Back inside is Reinhardt again now with it.
Reinhardt sweeps it to the front, and that went off to the skate, I believe, of Trembachy.
Right to the corner.
Husky, shoot for the point.
Bouncy puck in front of the net.
Loose puck is there.
Michigan tech in too tight.
And the goalie is able to work it back up to centerize with a flip pass up to the red line.
Came right back again for the Huskies, who picking it up will be Mourneau.
He'll take it across.
Mourneau with a quick shot.
Mourneau just missed wide.
I think the passball would have made that save had it gone a little bit more to the left.
And Michigan tech now will pick it up again.
Koskic 50 sends it across.
Here's a chance.
We let it run.
Trying to slide it.
We let it get in with it.
Locked it in.
Come to play shoes.
Oh, and it went off with a stick of cheat check.
And it's going to come
back out to centerize it all the way down.
But Cicek had it right on his stick in front.
He passed well, was way out of the net.
Just couldn't retrieve it quick enough.
Oh, really, I didn't realize there was a golfer right there.
He could have picked up that puck.
10 minutes left to go in the second period.
Huskies with a 1-0 lead.
And the play now inside the Michigan Tech Zone.
The golfers will send it down.
Richard.
Able to move it around the Huskies steal it away roulette's got to be tired.
He's trying to get out the ice.
They'll send it down.
And the Gophers will start from inside of their own head back out the center.
Ice fans Larry Khan right off of the bench makes the defensive play got it up the center that was outside and called there by the linesman with 936 that brings us to the break one nothing Michigan Tech here at the back.
Glad to have you with us here on MIX 93 WKJ.

Base off in the neutral zone, one-nothing Huskies.
Gophers are out shooting Michigan Tech in this second period.
Right now the shots are 14-10 Michigan Tech.
Just
looking at the replay, that was
Cheechek coming over for a boulette.
Wide open net.
It was just inside his stick on his heel.
Couldn't kick it up in time.
And good recovery by the golfer defense.
Base off the neutral zone.
One by the golfer's.
Mer will pick it up now for Minnesota.
Sends it in right to the front of the goal goal.
Dangerous puck was bouncing around.
Back to the point.
Here's Evan Mer.
Slides it to the middle.
Then sends it over to the left side.
Huskies.
Scrambling a little bit inside of the zone after that awkward bounce.
Picked up now by Brenton.
He'll go off the boards, gets it to the line, but not out.
Second opportunity, that's over.
Huskies wait too long, but they got a break and it comes back out to neutral play.
1-0 Michigan Tech.
Vardiskevich trying to stop it behind the net, slows it down and picked up by Kalem Parker.
11 minutes gone here in this second period.
Parker now will look up ice.
Nobody pressuring him, hangs on to it, then sends it for Bernie.
Bernie trying to flip a pass to the fence.
And he does, 8-50, left to go in the period.
Roulette with the only goal of the game so far.
Here comes Humphreys.
Humphreys across the line, sends it over.
Shot taken, that one just wide of the net.
Mofgren there, sent all the way back down inside of the gopher, and no icing here.
Back to pick it up, Henricks.
The Zeamer, Zeamer.
His pass, broken up.
Back inside of the Michigan Tech Zone, taken now by Deleu.
Now picked up by Delo, couple of players down.
Hands getting on.
A few shows back across the line as Jonson.
Jonson hangs on.
Jonson across the line makes a move to his forehand.
Shoots it right to the defenseman.
And now coming back are the Gophers.
Two on two across the line.
Coming down with speed, a shot saved by Bartoszkiewicz.
Cosmica really had some good speed on that rush up the ice.
Pass up the way now.
Michigan Tech trying to find the loose puck, falling down the play.
to the Huskies who's out of her trying to catch that loose puck and scooped up now by the defense of Tanner Hendricks.
Gets it up the center ice across the line.
Here's a drop pass, shot taken, loose puck in front of Bartoskiewicz and he's got it.
I thought Hendricks would probably should have shot that one Brent but he decided to dish it off and might have let Bartoskiewicz set up a little bit on that play.
Yeah, Hendricks and
Gott retrieved that puck off the boards and got behind Tex defenseman.
He used his good speed to get in all alone, on an angle and fake shot, dropped it back to his centerman.
But that line has been very good for the Gophers here.
Oh, we can really cull in Hendrickson.
No, Kev
is Niko.
Well, Niko's got good speed, too.
Back out to center right, so Huskies get it clear.
Trying to get a three-on-two goal right here.
They're onside.
And bringing it down now will be Cheechek.
Cheechek takes it behind the net.
in the offensive zone.
Picked up now.
I'd like to be lucky, able to work it out, and that will go all the way down.
They're going to call this icy if it gets there, and it looks like it's going to roll in Michigan Tech, but then they waived it off.
Steel now by the Gophers to the back side.
Mow is right there, right to the side of the merit.
They went to the front.
They had a wide open net, and the Huskies get an incredible break on that play.
Backed out inside the Gopher zone.
1-0 Michigan Tech of the Lane with 7-0-3 remaining.
Stolen by Giovanni, Mourno sends it over.
Broken up nicely by the Goufers, back the other way.
2-on-1 from Minnesota, pass over by Lucky, he's broken up!
And the Huskies find it somehow in the skates.
Huskies across the line now, here comes Roulette, drop pass, loose puck in front of the net, trying to find it, loose Mourno.
And it just got away.
Back up top Reinhardt, his shot, hit his own player right on the backside.
And here come the Goprens.
Both teams are dead tired.
Slowly bringing it up the ice.
Ludkey will dump it down, hit the back of the netting.
And a play down in the corner.
Huskies, nice job there.
By Trev Becky to haul that one in.
He'll take it across the line.
Trying to alley you a bit to the front of the net, great directed just wide.
And Michigan Tech, eight on the four check now with 6.15 remaining here in the period, up one to nothing.
Now the Gopers will skate it up.
This is Whipple.
Nice pass over.
Pritchard across the line.
His hard shot right into Bartoskiewicz, but Bartoskiewicz could not hang on.
The Huskies come up to loose clock.
Pass to the middle there.
Kalem Parker trying to find it.
He could not.
This will give Whipple a chance to send it right back in.
Bartoskiewicz now will play it around.
No, he hands it off to Brenton who goes back with it now for Parker.
Parker, able to move it up.
Husky, got a piece of that one.
Can't get it deep inside the zone.
5.45 remaining here in the second period.
Feels like it's the end of the game for some reason.
And we're still in the second.
1-0 lead for Michigan Tech.
Bernie at the red line will shoot it down.
Husky's going in on a 4-check now with Handlerikov.
Gets away from a check.
Quick to the floor!
He's a rapper on a tip.
Nice save by DePasquo.
And the Huskies now trying to keep it inside of his own.
They do.
Here's Miller.
Miller hangs on.
Send it over!
redirecting the line to the net.
Full team's getting great chances.
Huskies now with fresher inside of the zone.
Back to Fasciano.
He'll send it over a one-time referral.
Sharp angle again.
That one went wide.
Back to the moon line.
Delil can't hold it in.
Huskies stepping up.
Two Huskies got hit on that one as they tried to make the hit and picked up by Luca Fasciano.
Coming out of the smoke.
He'll bring it down and drop the bat.
Turn over.
He'll break the way.
Back to the way.
Coming in.
There are three dings on that post from this weekend.
Here's a chance for the Huskies with a shot taken by Jonson.
He's into inaction right now here at the Mac.
The 1-0 lead for Michigan Tech with 4-38 left below in the second.
Gopers back across the line.
They've had two outstanding scoring opportunities.
Huskies trying to hang on.
And a 1-0 lead here in the second period.
Back out the center eyes.
Lomback slides it over right to the goal it goes.
And Michigan Tech will settle it down behind their
net.
Oh, Dirk, what action for a 1-0 game.
This is the most wide open 1-0 game I have ever seen.
Gents is back and forth.
Whistle here.
Is it for now moving the puck quick enough?
I'm not sure.
407 left to go in the period.
Here's the replay on that one.
I don't know how.
That was Bernadette who tried to stuff it and the puck came into the slot.
Tech was able to clear it.
It's just been back and forth chance after chance after chance.
Both ways.
Some big hits.
Some huge collisions.
And several goal posts as we look at
Cullen come in in all alone.
No one near him.
Put it off
the right post.
You can see that play developing from a mile away after Fasciano wasn't able to make the play across the line offensively.
One-nothing lead for the Huskies.
Oh, hot shot right to the front.
Oh, a shot saved by Berners-Gibbon.
Loose puck, Berners-Gibbon just down.
The puck is behind the net and no idea what the Huskies were thinking on that play.
Good job by the Gophers to try to capitalize on it and somehow the puck stayed out of the net.
Back out at center ice.
And
stop at your plate.
I think if you're Michigan Tech, you got to tighten things up on that back end.
That's too many chances.
Again, the golfer is here on this retrieval.
Nice play by Hendrickson to his line mate all alone.
Miller couldn't get back in time.
Bartoskiewicz had to come up big.
Just good hustle play.
Go down to Brady Glano at ice level.
Brady, what's the leg down there for you?
You guys should be down here.
You can feel the intensity.
Coach McCall getting on his guys, letting him know to stay with it, stay with it.
Coach McCall getting on his guys, letting him know to stay with it, stay with it.
He's also on the forwards of Ulter positioning.
He feels they're giving up way too many odd man rushes right now because they're cheating a little bit.
Foufers were
outshot 11-5 in the first period.
Shots are now 15-15.
Brought up now by Michigan Tech.
1-0 lead for the Huskies, back across the line.
Shot by Trent Becky, right back out front.
Trent Becky gets a second slam at it.
And delivered back out to center ice.
Taken by Andreessen.
Puskies will shoot it in.
Michigan tacking on the 4-Chent.
Back to pick it up.
There was Henryx.
Puskies slap at it again.
Bouncy pump right dangerously in the blue line.
And now back out forward.
That's going to be outside.
Let's be just lost control of it.
And that'll be back out to center ice or in the neutral zone.
And Pusk just rolled
on him, fortunately, for Tech, because that was a...
Another four on two developing.
Look at the Gopher's defense, and they're jumping every chance they can.
You look at the replay of that.
More on two without another tech player in sight.
Case off to the neutral zone, slides back inside the Minnesota and it.
16-15, Michigan tackle with a slight shot advantage, but the Gophers have really been piling on.
Richard takes the shot.
Saved made by Bartoskevich.
Right to the front again, and the Huskies get another break.
It goes back out to center-rights.
Richard with a great burst of speed to give it all alone.
Here come the Gokers again.
Moore with the shot.
That one stopped by Bartoskevich, and the Huskies a little bit.
Two laps to basically right now against this powerful team of the Gokers.
Here comes Latimer.
Now, Latimer trying to drag to that well-defended by Begley.
1-0 lead for Michigan Tech, 2-25 remaining.
Here's a chance to the Huskies from behind the net.
Here's a shot!
Saved me there and the Pascal will hold on for the whistle.
I love that play for Tech getting started there with Latimer dropping his shoulder.
Got pinched up with that, created that little mini-cycle.
Puck came back to Parker there with a good shot attempt again as we look at the Gophers.
Just Pritchard breaking through again.
There's another good
scoring opportunity for the Goufers off the
rush.
Johnson 17-17, one nothing lead from Michigan Tech.
Connor Roulette, his first goal as a Husky.
Only tally so far, but both teams have come so close to others.
The Goufers really have had some good chances here recently.
Back out the center right, that punt goes way high in the air.
Michigan Tech not having
Any guys coming back quickly enough, and the Gophers will bring it down.
Whereup to Rhee got in the way of that one, and flipped out to center ice.
Now by Michigan Tech, Trembaki trying to follow it up with a good clear back out to center ice.
Huskies pick it up at the line, passed over now, and across the line comes Trembaki on his backhand.
Trembaki looking to the front, couldn't get it there, and escaped.
Now behind the net, Michigan Tech with control back up top for Miller.
Tyler Miller with a delayed call against the golfer, so the Huskies get the extra attacker out there.
Gartus Kavich to the bench.
They're looking touched up by Cullen, and that'll be the end of that stretch.
But Michigan Tech's going to get another power play here.
With a minute 41 left to go in the second period.
I didn't see what happened, but I thought I heard a slash.
We'll see what the ref has.
26.
Excellent Lofgren again.
Lopkin, another big kid.
Minnesota
number 26, two minutes, last year.
Now you can tell from up here those sounds in the air.
You get the stick just right, but here a big opportunity for Michigan Tech, 141, the Gophers have been really kind of out chanting the Huskies recently.
basketball is going to
take the draw for Michigan Tech.
Power play brought to by Edward Jones, financial advisor, Brent Peterson, making sense of investing.
Good draw win there by the golfers.
They'll send it all the way down.
1-0 late for Michigan Tech.
Michigan Tech on the power play right now.
Second of the game.
They're 0-for-1 and 0-for-2 on the weekend.
Miller's going to drop it back, picked up now by Ryan Hart, cross.
And that went off of a skate, back out the center ice.
Huskies looked a little unsure of themselves on that rush.
Now back for Miller.
Miller from Michigan Tech will start it for the CCHA logo.
Now it drops it back for Kastapyrti, coming up the middle.
Kastapyrti, across the red line.
Brings it across the blue line, hands it off to Roulette.
Roulette off the boards.
Miller gets a little bit of time and space, sends it over.
Trembecki with a shot.
That one blocked in front.
Whipple, sacrifice in the body on that play.
Power play for the Huskies back to the point.
Here is Miller again.
Miller slides it back over.
Trembecki looking, looking, shoots!
That one stopped by DePasco, goes high into the air.
Roulette's able to keep it alive and get it back to the point.
40 seconds, 45 left to go in the period.
Power play for the Huskies.
Shot!
Save to Paspo!
And he'll hold on for the whistle.
Some good goal-tending right there, Brent.
That was his Trembcki shot couple there, right from that same face-off dot.
The goal-tender was square, hitting him right in the big M in the Minnesota logo.
That's usually a good sign.
The goal-tender is exactly where he wants to be.
Making it look rather easy.
Huskies out of power play, another minute, but only 42 seconds left to go the period.
One-nothing lead for Michigan Tech.
They win the drawback.
Chippley.
Right side.
Bamblera comes.
Now it is down low for Alias Jonson.
Morneau.
Jonson back down low.
Jonson back door.
And what a stop again by DePasquale.
That went off of a Husky, and that Husky is hurt right now.
That Passiano.
Yeah, that's Thashiado.
He came in from the point at puck.
I don't know.
I think it ricocheted off of him or the defender.
It was him, I'm pretty sure.
I don't know if he caught him, maybe in the wrist, because it was deflected coming across.
Tough to see on that replay.
Play continues now.
21 seconds left to go in the period.
Husky is on the man advantage.
It's wrapped around Helden at the point by Caleb Parker.
15 seconds left.
Nice poke check made there by the Gophers.
Huck is loose, that'll be a clear doubt and that should just about kill the period here.
As Bartoskevich will leave it there for the defense.
And picked up by Parker with one second left.
And the Huskies will have 49 seconds left on a power play at the start of the third period.
Two periods in the books here.
Second period brought to by Copper Country forward.
Still a one nothing lead for Michigan Tech.
here at the John McGinnis student ice-cream after Connor Roulette got his first career
goal.
Yeah, just an exciting hockey game.
The second period, back and forth, back and forth, big collisions, empty net, goal post, a lot of almost could've, would've, should've, and for a 1-0 game, this may be such an incredibly exciting 1-0 goal scoring game.
20
shots for the Huskies, 18 for the Gulkers after two periods of play.
And we'll be chatting with Connor Roulette down on the tunnel.
Connor, congratulations on your first goal as a Husky.
Kind of take us through what happened on that play.
Yeah, I mean, it was a pretty good forecheck.
Puck squirts out to Millsie there.
And I mean, he's just a great player.
All I had to do was get open.
And he was able to put it in the right spot.
And I mean, it was just a great play.
Yeah, congratulations Connor on your first goal.
I love how you opened up and created an opportunity For yourself to shoot it and then you had a tough angle They're looking at the replay put it right under the bar But what do you guys got to do here to finish us off in
the third?
I mean, I think we just keep playing our game.
You know, we're not really giving them too much We're playing fast.
We're we're able to make make stuff happen.
Oh
transition and we're just being able to shut them down.
I think we just they're fast teams so just getting in front of them not letting them use their speed against us.
Good luck in the third.
Thank you.

Dirk Hembroff, Brent Peterson, Brady Galletto, all here at the, in the Bob Olson Media Center at the John McGinnis Student Ice Cream, a great crowd here on a Sunday afternoon watching some great hockey.
Michigan Tech, taking on Minnesota,
score Brent, one nothing Huskies after Conor Roulette's first career goal and we're gonna have an exciting third period are
we not?
Oh we sure are and you get the sense Minnesota just is coming and coming they probably out chanced us a little bit here there towards the end of the second but Tech's doing a good job too when they get an opportunity to bring that puck to the net they're doing it with with a purpose and it's like I said this has been
Highly entertaining for a 1-0
score.
Brady, you were talking down at ice level.
Pretty interesting to hear some of the dynamic talking and, I guess, gestures from the coaching staff and the players down on the Michigan Tech bench.
Yeah, it's super fun.
Sometimes it's hard to hear, obviously.
But I can kind of read lips.
I feel like I'm getting really good at reading lips.
And it's fun to watch the camaraderie between the players as well.
We talked about how there's a lot of returners this year.
And you can kind of tell they have that chemistry.
He's having fun playing with Conor Roulette, and when Roulette scored, he was the one to get the puck and throw it to the equipment manager to make sure they put tape on it and keep it for him.
Michigan Tech with 20 shots, 18 for the Gophers, and we are in the second intermission brought to you by Puzani Company of Atlantic Mine.

We're both important.
So we could just as easily be Starry Lime Lemon Soda.

I like it, would.
Starry Lemon Lime Soda.
Starry fits different.

to our second intermission brought to you by Pizzani Company of Atlantic Mine.
Oh, we got a little bit of a stumper here.
I thought this would be a slam dunk, but apparently not.
It is Pepsi trivia brought to you by Pepsi of Houghton.
The question again was, who coached the Huskies the last time Michigan Tech took a two game sweep against the Minnesota Golden Gophers?
That's what we're looking for.
And I am hearing that we've had pretty much every
Head coach named, except for the right one yet.
906-483-4054.
I could give you the year, but that would be too easy to figure out.
So we won't do that, but I can tell you it hasn't been that long.
I don't know if I could say that like that.
1-0 Michigan Tech.
4-17 left to go in the intermission here.
19 seconds.
Is that right?
I thought it was more than that on that power play remaining.
It might be it.
Michigan Tech will have some power play time to start the third period, which will be huge, right, Brett?
Because two power, two power plays for Michigan Tech so far in this game.
The law of averages say that Minnesota will get the next one.
Yeah, absolutely.
And it's a little different playing with a two-goal lead than one, obviously.
And you're right.
The way the golfers are pushing, especially from the back end, you know they're going to create and probably draw a penalty or two in the third.
Byward, just checking that time.
Nineteen seconds.
Seems low, but I
thought it was 40.
Maybe I'm going to check on that.
But 1-0 lead for Michigan Tech.
No winner on Pepsi Trivia, so we'll take a quick timeout.
We'll be back in 30 seconds to hear the goal by Connor Roulette, his first as a Husky.
As we continue on in our Pizzani company, second intermission, 1-0 Michigan Tech.

Congratulations to Brianna Carradette of Hancock, our winner tonight on Pepsi Trivia.
The question was, who was the head coach of the Huskies the last time Michigan Tech swept the Golden Goldfors?
And that was Jamie Russell.
You go back to 2005, Brent.
It was January 21st.
January 22nd.
January 21st obviously was the Friday night.
The Huskies stayed downtown at the Marriott.
A snowstorm in Minneapolis locked up traffic.
The people could not go from A to B. Nobody had the proper snow tires.
And literally a flat intersection, the cars just couldn't move.
They had to delay the start of the game because the Huskies could not get through traffic to get to the rink.
They delayed it by about, I think, 20 minutes or so.
Huskies go on to win Friday night six to three against the Gophers, and then they win Saturday night three to two.
It was a very exciting weekend for Michigan Tech, and that is the right answer.
All right, let's get to our goal before we hit the third period here.
One goal, and here it is.
Conor Roulette, his first as the Huskies.
To get the Huskies, the one-nothing lead.
Three on two developing for Michigan Tech.
Koska Kerchie coming down with Miller.
And Trulette, Trulette for the cost of 50.
Broken up nicely by the goal first.
Backhand and picked up by Miller.
Miller's got a lead to the net, sends it over, and it's got the goal in the air!
Rift man, number 29, and a great feed by Miller.
And the Huskies for the second straight night.
Score first, 1-0.
1-0 in goal.
Great shot there by Conner.
Yeah, it was, and the puck was kind of getting bad.
Madden backed him forward.
Miller was able to pick it off at the blue line and come right down the slot again.
but I love how Connor Roulette just made himself available, opened up.
So when he did get the puck, he was in perfect shooting position and he made
no mistake.
Only back in 30 seconds.
Turtle Agency brings you our third curry and won nothing.
Husky's back after this.
Our family likes to keep busy.
Between hockey and volleyball dominating our weekends and all the travel that comes with it, we still make sure to squeeze in some outdoor adventures.

Turbo Agency is a provider of auto owners insurance.

Grady Gledo down at ice level.
1-0 lead for the Huskies.
Third career being brought to you by Turbo Agency.
19 seconds left on that power play for Michigan Tech.
But you buy it for Jones financial advisor Brent Peterson.
Huskies control the drop and give it away.
Zeemar walks in and he got a shot off.
Steals it.
Whipple with a shot wide of the net.
And Michigan Tech struggling right out of the gates here.
And now the power play is over out of the box.
Lopgren.
And Michigan Tech will get a doubt inside of the Gophers zone.
Michigan Tech fortunate to not give up a shorty there.
Now taken by the Gophers, backhanded up, but it's not there.
Trenton will send it towards the net.
Maybe Stick handled it one too many times before he delivered it.
It was deflected and now bumped back off the center ice.
Husky trying to make a defensive pairing change.
Crossed by Moore, hands it off.
Zeemer couldn't find it, but it goes back to the point.
Watch out, Reba was right there.
And the Gophers continue to get great looks back the other way.
Cheechek will dump it down.
And that goes to the far corner, just underway here in the third period.
Wrapped around, trans-channel getting there in time.
Huskies get gikes to the front of that, shot there taken, and they cleared away just in time, and the pass boy able to make the save.
Great individual
effort there by the captain, Brodie Ziemer, just to hop that center face-off to control the puck, one on four, and picked our pocket and threw it right out to Wimple, right
in the slot.
I wonder if that shot or that puck was rolling just a little bit on Whipple because he did not get out of what he wanted.
Just a good effort there to kill the rest of that
penalty.
Miller just makes a big play right there as the Gopers had numbers going back the other way.
Back inside the Minnesota zone, a one-nothing lead for Michigan Tech early on in this period.
Shot down inside of the Michigan Tech end.
Varnas Kevich will stay in the net.
Pritchard going in on the fourth check.
Stopping him was more no.
Huskies trying to flip it out the center ice.
They'll do just that.
Up the snout, tracking it down, sends it over.
Rombach.
Rombach now back over to his defensive partner.
Here come the Gophers up the right wing across the line.
Onside, sending it to the middle.
Never is trying to find it.
Stumped it down, but Michigan Tech will steal it away and bring it up now as Chippley.
Chippley across the red line.
And we'll get it back now inside of the neutral zone.
Huskies will flip it high into the air, knocked down by the defense.
And both teams will make changes on the fly.
1-0 lead Michigan Tech.
We are early on in the third period.
5-on-5 hockey.
Lofgren across the line.
Lofgren drags it down, takes the shot, tried the short side, wasn't there.
Saved by Bartoskevic.
Rebound to the corner now inside the Michigan Tech zone.
Battle for the puck and Griesen got a piece of that one.
You can hear the sticks.
And picked up now by Jonson.
Elliott Shantse with a chip pass up the center ice.
Got it outside of the zone, but the Gophers send it back to the Michigan Tech blue line, and now will take it inside their zone.
And a stretch pass.
Huskies get caught on a line change across the line shot.
Shave made there in the rebound to the corner.
Michigan Tech got caught on a line change and a great opportunity there for the Gophers trying to tie this game up.
1-0 Michigan Tech flipped up and all the way down.
This won't be icing.
They gave the follow through there nicely in Michigan Tech.
Get on the porch.
Epic quickly worked up by the Gophers.
Parker had to go past him.
In after it is Lucas Brenton.
Brenton sends it in around, comes off the board a little awkwardly there to the middle and kept in by the golfers in behind the net now.
Parker ties up his man.
17-10, loves to go in the period.
In the third here, 1-0 Michigan Tech with the lead.
Only goal of the game coming in the second period.
Hopped right up the Michigan Tech, blue line right in front of the bench and now Parker's going to take it back and get some more time and space and back behind his net.
16-53, remaining here in the third period.
Shots, 22 for the Gophers, 21 for Michigan Tech.
Very similar shot totals that we saw last night around this time.
And Michigan Tech now trying to get it inside the zone, can't do it.
Big hit there, and there's that penalty coming up.
It's going against Bernie.
Two minutes, or will it be more?
As it was tough to see from here, but the whistle sounds, and the Gophers are going to get a power play and slow to get up.
on the play is a Minnesota player.
And
Finn Lufthus went in very awkwardly.
Hope he's all right.
Where he going almost head first.
Referees are talking about the consequence.
If it's going to be two or more, we'll listen in.
The previous play is under review for a potential major penalty.
All right, so this could really change things.
As they take a look at this, 16-32 left to go in the period and Laptis had taken his time getting up.
It looks like he is going to be able to skate up mostly under his own power.
That is great news.
Yeah,
those are the ones that cause you get a knot in your stomach, but it's great to see him leave on his own accord.
That's priority number one, but I have a feeling this is going to be more than two.
So they'll review this and will it be a five-minute major Power play for the Minnesota Golden Gophers Here at the John McGinnis student in Icerita coach Larson taking this time to Huddle up the troops and maybe call something up here on this mad advantage that's about to happen for Minnesota This will be their first power play of the evening And they had one last night the Huskies were able to keep it out of the net both teams were 0 for 1 last night and
Michigan Tech 0-2 tonight and Minnesota will get their first power play as they continue to look at this.
I would tell you about the out-of-town scoreboard brought to you by Peterla Distributing.
We don't have a whole lot of games, of course, going on on Sunday.
This is the only official game going on.
Only an exhibition game, Sacred Heart and Carlton and North Dakota and Manitoba.
Don't have any updates on those games.
Exhibition.
Here's the replay.
We are able to see here.
Oh, yeah, that's a tough one.
And again, didn't... It's tough to hold back on that, but, boy, there's such an emphasis on that to protect the players, and we'll see what the officials, how they call that.
1-0 lead from Michigan Tech.
The review is over.
So a
five-minute major, what an opportunity here for the Goufers.
This high-powered offense will get a power play for five minutes.
As we see the replay now, here at the boards, and off this going in very awkwardly right in front of the penalty box right there.
Michigan Tech will have a tall task here.
16-32 left to go in the third, a one-nothing lead for the
Huskies, Brents.
So the Gopher is interesting.
They put Wyatt Cullen out on the blue line.
He'll, I'm sure, shift all over that ice, probably end up somewhere on one of the flanks.
But five minutes here, 16-32 remaining.
Leppa gets thrown from the draw.
I think if you're Michigan Tech, you want to have short shifts.
Turn it over as quick as you can.
Adelaide Hill brought you by Core Wellness Camera Project in Natural Medicine.
The Huskies win the face-off, they'll clear it all the way down.
Gophers with the power play, a major penalty against Michigan Tech.
And bring it up now will be, Henricks right side, Zeemur sends it towards the goal.
Picked up by the Gophers.
Zeemur with a hard shot, that one sets high and wide.
Gophers can score often.
Many times here as they can on this power play.
Major penalty back over to the right side.
Down low.
I'll cycle it back up top again.
Over for White Cullen.
His shot.
Blockers save made there by Bartoskiewicz.
Husky can't retrieve it.
And it's wrapped around again for Cullen back on the blue line.
Michigan Tech defending.
Short handed right now.
Down on the right wing corner.
In after it is Humphreys.
Wrapped around now to the point again for Cullen.
Cullen walks it down and got a guy in the backdoor.
Waited, did not give it to him.
Cullen with it now.
Backside, that's going to come back outside of the zone.
No, held in.
Rombok just made a great play to hold that in.
And back over.
Cullen centers it.
Shot, that one just wider than that.
That one will get back to the blue line.
Held in again by Rombok.
Sorry, Bernabek.
I keep calling Bernabek, Rombok.
Bernabek with the play.
Now over Cullen.
His shot saved.
Hardest gameers can't find it.
Husky will clear it down.
Good
job by Michigan Tech keeping those shots from the perimeter.
Bartoskevitz seeing everything on that first shot.
3-26 remaining and the major penalty to Bernie brought up now by Minnesota across the Michigan Tech line.
More dishes it off.
Back to the point and this one slides back out the center ice.
Huskies will get a little bit of a breather.
Cheat check.
Looked like he was going to go to the bench.
Stays out there.
Ludkey now with it.
Great stick handler.
Ludkey will set it over to the right side.
Dump back inside the Michigan Tech zone, right to the front of the net.
Huskies will clear it down.
That's
a good play there by Reinhardt to settle that puck down for Cheechick, rather.
Shoot it down the open lane and not just randomly up the
board.
Duvall Moore sends it down inside the Michigan Tech zone, wraps it around.
Andreessen got a piece of that one.
Watch out.
That one almost squirted right to the front of the net.
Huskies will clear it down again.
Michigan Tech doing a good job here.
Not allowing the Gophers to set up.
14-03 left to go here in the third period.
Still 2-28 left to go in the period.
Or in the power play for the Gophers.
1-0 lead for Michigan Tech.
The stick handling there.
It comes Cullen again.
Cullen across the line with speed.
Give and go to Cullen.
Cullen taking down on the play.
Andreessen off the glass.
Clears it, and it bounces out the star ice.
Onto the stick now, Hendricks.
Huskies trying to get back now as they bring it across the line.
Humphries back to the point.
Passed over.
Zimmer, shot!
Oh, and thought it was going in.
Nice save by Bartoskevich.
Cleared down by the Huskies.
Now Bartoskevich was cheating there.
He thought Zimmer was going back door, and he went short side.
Farteskevich still was able to adjust, make a good block for Stop.
Cohen again with it now across the line.
Vernevek, Vernevek, get it down to the corner.
Husky stealing away.
We'll clear it down one more time.
Still a minute, 35.
Left to go in the power play for the Gophers.
1-0 lead from Michigan Tech.
Here at the John McGinnis, students like Serena.
13 minutes left to go in the third.
Another change of personnel for the Gophers.
McGonmore, big kid, brings it down with some speed.
Bumps it to himself down in the corner, takes a hit.
bouncing cut down there, Michigan Tech trying to find it, sort of the golfers.
Comes loose, back to the point, here comes Mer, the former Madrick, sets it over, shot in the shade by Bartoskiewicz.
As Miller was trying to block it, I'm not sure if that got caught up at all in Miller, but a nice save by Bartoskiewicz.
Again, there's Loftrin.
Big defense and over there open it up for the one-timer.
Moore put it right on his table.
Mostly shot so far have been coming from the perimeter with no traffic in front.
Hardest
scavengers going to make those stops most of the time.
Huskies won the face-off.
It's out of their own zone.
60 seconds remaining in the power play for the Gophers on the major penalty to Bernie.
Bernie is not ejected from the game.
It's a major boarding cult.
He's in the box right now.
One-nothing lead from Michigan Tech.
Here comes Ludkey.
Ludkey slides it over.
Back down, Michigan Tech will steal it away.
A hit through all clear, and it's going to come outside of the zone, but it won't go all the way down.
Murr with it again.
Husky's trying to hop out there on the line change.
Backhand it all the way down to Lopgren.
In behind the net now coming away is Bartoskiewicz.
Sends it around.
It's held in.
Back to the point, Murr with it now, slides it one way, goes the other, loses it but maintains control, now with it.
And back to Murr again.
Murr to the middle, trying to shoot it towards the goal.
Here's a pass over, Murr with a shot and he scores.
Beautiful shot by Moore, ties the game up.
And, whoa, it's just a rocket off of the crossbar.
Takes it
a 1-1 score.
Yeah, that was just a great release.
He came across his body.
He was able to set it and sell it down and put it back to where Bartoskampic was coming from over his glove.
Kind of a broken play, but it was a good, good heads-up play coming through the sea.
And Moe was just hanging back far enough to stay out of that stick lane from Fish and Tech defenders and
had a great release.
Here come the Gophers again looking for more on the power play right to the net and Bartoskevich will hold on to the whistle.
Huskies got so close to getting through that five-minute major penalty but a power play call by Moe, ties it up and still 11 seconds left to go on the man advantage.
Again this faceoff, critical.
Gophers there almost had another one, they're jumped off the center, faceoff got Wyatt Cullen coming in, trying to find his
mind mate, loan of the net.
Bayes off down in front of Barnas-Skevich.
One-one tie here at the back.
Still a power play for the Gopers.
Major penalty almost over to Bernie.
Huskies with a big face-off win.
They get it clear to the line.
Do they get it out?
They do.
Right off by Max Toskopyrti.
Toskopyrti will send it across.
Cheechek takes it in.
A shot taken there.
Blocked there by the defensive in the whipple.
Huskies peel it away.
Here's Cheechek in the back and spins around.
Centers it back.
Fashiana with a shot.
No, he hangs on and then lost it.
Sends it down inside the right wing corner.
Bassiano down low, hands it off, tried two to Cascoperti, stole it away, Cullen will skate it up, and muscles it up to center ice to Zebra.
Zebra will get the red line and shoots it in, the pedaling is over, back to five on five, Hockey 1-1 score, 29-21 are the shots, and the Gopers piled a lot on that major power play.
Back down inside of the Michigan Tech zone, sorry the Minnesota zone, Huskies had it on their stick, you have on him, Gordo lost control, center in attempt.
Bouncing putts off of the defenseman and picked up now by Brooks Cullen.
Cullen over for Hendrickson.
Hendrickson across the line, drops it for Cullen, right to the front there.
Well defended by Morneau coming back.
A good idea there by the Gophers on that play.
Michigan Tech will slide it over to the near side corner, a race for the puck, pushed up the boards, and not getting there in time with Strembecki, but then he makes the play to get it outside the center ice.
10-32, left to go in the third period.
We are tied 1-1.
The Huskies with a 3-2 victory last night.
Govers trying to earn a split on the weekend.
Here comes Trembetti across the way loses control taken now by Muir.
Muir with a stretch pass up.
Cross for Moore.
Moore trying to drive into the Michigan Tech zone in front of the net.
Taken away by the Huskies for a moment.
Loose puck inside at the top of the circle.
The Lills got to make a play.
Huskies got to move it out.
They just barely get it outside of the zone.
That was Elias Jonson.
Now loses the handle on it.
Richard sloshed it in his skates.
Takes a hit, picked up there by Lattimer.
Lattimer caught from behind.
And now the loose punt was at the top of the CCHA low, going back out to center ice.
9-46 remaining here in the third query.
Tide 1-1.
Michigan deck in Minnesota.
Shot down by Johnson.
The passboe's going to come out of the net, plays it out of the trapezoid, wraps it all the way around up to center ice.
Picked up quickly by Andreessen.
He'll slide it over for Luca Fasciano.
Pastiano able to move it up, not far though, and it's shot right back in by Moore.
9-23.
Remaining here in the third.
Glad to have you with us on mix 93.
WKMJ, Huskies across the line with Van Blerikan.
Drop pass there for Leppa.
Leppa backhand, zippered wide to the net.
Not sure if he was trying to go to the front or not, but it's sent back up to the blue line and back out to center ice by Ludkey.
Ludkey.
And it go off of him.
The Huskies flip it high into the air.
Here's the shot!
And getting a stick on that one nicely was Hendricks to defenseman.
Michigan Tech in on the 4-check.
Wipple will take it behind his own net.
There's a loose stick out there in front of Golpen in the fastball.
Down to 8 minutes to 54 seconds.
This can be an icing call against the Gophers.
And as we go down to Brady Galletto at ice level.
Brady.
Yeah, Durk, if you go back
to that Gopher's goal there, Moll was demanding the puck for a good 15 seconds before he actually got it.
That's how bad he wanted to make a play.
And as soon as he got it, he just ripped it by Bartoskevic.
So Ty game here with 8.51 left.
This last 8-51 is going to be very entertaining.
Bayside down in front of the pass, will 1-1 score, 8-51 left to go in the third.
Loose punk off the draw, Whipple gets it back to the point, held in by Shippley.
Whipple again with it, Shippley not able to control this one, it was redirected so they will wave off the ice sheet and Huskies go back with it.
Michigan Tech will stop behind the net, G-Chick comes in and scoop it up.
G-check will skate it up.
Where's number 19 from Michigan Tech?
Across the line going into some trouble there.
Hands it off to Bernie.
Bernie, well rested after that major penalty.
Bernie, good job to get it to his forehand while he's being tied up there by Rombach.
And the Huskies will lose it.
Brought up now by the Gophers across the line.
Humphrey slams on the brakes.
Back hands it down.
And Cullen in on the forecheck.
Centering attempt there by the Gophers.
Broken up by Brenton.
And he'll forward it up to Michigan Tech's Vanglericon, which takes a hit.
Rolls off of it though.
Dumped down inside of the zone.
Tied 1-1.
Eight minutes left to go here in the period.
Leppa had to go past him, but he reached back for it, able to keep it inside of the zone.
Loftus now takes a hit.
Alastair and Becky behind the net.
Got it to Vamvera-Kam at the side of the goal, poked away from him.
Another blind pass made there by the Huskies, and now they'll have to get back as it's flipped up by the Gophers who are tired on the play.
Such
good sticks by the Gophers defense.
They've taken away Tex little chances.
Got to move it quick.
Evanmer back in after it.
Now wraps it around.
Andreessen, no chance to stop that one as it was coming too hard.
And now picked up by Michigan Tech's Reinhardt to get it across the line, but not deep.
Back out to neutral play.
Reinhardt's going to pick it up in stride.
Reinhardt across the line, opens up, sends it over.
Nobody really opened on that play.
Can Reinhardt hold it in?
He will.
Wraps it around.
And this will be picked up by Mourneau.
Mourneau put up against the wall.
Tried to, but he got away from that check.
And now picked up by Lothgren.
He'll go off the board.
Michigan Tech will hold it in.
right to the goal and a smart play there by DePasquo because one of the Huskies was capped out in front and that'll bring us up to the timeout.
1-1 score, 7-0-2 left to go in here in the third.
You should have it's 93 WKMJ.

How about a hot and ready pizza tonight?
Little Caesars, Montezuma Avenue at Houghton.
Pizza, pizza.
7-0, June left to go in the third period.
Knotted up at 1-1.
Face off, down inside the Gopher zone.
Marno.
Going against Brooks Cullen.
Marno goes right to the front of the net, picked up by Whipple.
And Whipple turns that puck over, but gets it right back.
Whipple at the red line.
Shoots it.
Huskies back inside of their own zone.
That's shot in by Hendrickson.
Wrapped around.
Get back out to the line.
That's gonna be offside Brady Glennle down a nice level
Brady.
Yeah dirt that penalty kill.
It's a long one when they have to kill that off They're trying to get back to what they were doing in the second
period You noticing that too a little bit Brent.
Yeah, it feels like their energy is not quite aware it was so I think if you're
If you're tech with seven minutes here on the clock, you just get the puck deep.
Try to get your legs moving off the rush.
Bang a couple of bodies just to get back in the game here.
Minnesota's done a good job of taking that momentum away from them off that
power play.
Husky shoot it in.
Tide 1-1, 6-37 left in the third period.
This will be sent all the way down by the Gophers.
No icing.
Hustling back will be fastiano.
Sends it around wide open on the wing here as Latimer.
Latimer will scoop it up.
Takes it across the red line.
Hands it off now for Jonson.
Jonson puts on the brakes and shoots a high shot.
Takes a hit.
And sent right back down inside of the zone.
Jonson should be able to pick this one up.
He'll send it back to the point for Miller.
Miller lost it, got it back.
Shot taken, easily blocked by Nevers.
Nevers will start it back.
Jackson, Nevers the sentiment.
Gets it across the line and dumps it all the way down inside the Michigan Tech Zone.
For down to six minutes and seven seconds left.
One, one score.
Miller loses it, pokes it up, and the Huskies will tip it out inside of the zone.
Not how you draw that one up.
And the Pascal will play it around off the glass.
Coming in as Cheechek could not get a piece of that.
That is kept in by the Huskies.
Ooh!
They say no, and a face-off coming up in the neutral
zone.
And Deepak Squall plays the puck pretty well.
Lots of evidence of that this weekend again on that rush.
He's able to crowd that puck, get it high on the glass, allow his
Team to break out without any stress.
Bardskevich does the same at Michigan Texan as well.
Huskies
with the face off of the neutral zone.
Lucas Brenton will send it in.
The pass goal will stop and leaves it for Mer.
Mer will send it down.
This should be an icing call.
And Michigan Tech will get a face off in the offensive zone.
5-39 left to go.
1-1 score here at the John Beginaz Student Ice Arena.
This is where these face offs become obviously.
Even more important with 539 remaining.
Treveky line.
Mourneau and Reinhardt will come over the boards.
Parker
and Brenton.
We just saw the replay on that offside call.
He goes to show how we don't see it all from here.
It looked good from up here.
That was definitely outside.
Huskins win the drop shot.
And a save made there by DePasco.
Oh, that was a great faceoff win there by Mourneau.
Trambecky went and liked what he did there, and he had the patience to kind of let the traffic clear, and then he fired a quite a dangerous shot from, you know, in the middle of that circle.
Trambecky had
such
a release.
He sure does.
That puck just zips off his stick.
Nice save
by the goal-tender.
Back to him again.
He'll get it back to the point, and a shot by.
Kalen Parker went right back into the defense, but this could be another icing, though, against the Gopers.
Wow, the Huskies are struggling a little bit on that play.
The Gophers are having a tough time making that first pass out of their
zone.
Two ends in a row there by Marneau.
This time, Tech has the advantage where they are able to change.
Gophers, of course, cannot on a nice and call.
Huck will now come to the left circle.
Cheechek will take
it.
Cheechek taking the drop against Wyatt Mullen.
Cullen will win it back, able to get it to Whipple.
Whipple will clear it up.
This would be an icy if the Huskies get back in time, and it will be.
Humphrey's given it his all on that one, but Christian just could not get there in time if Face-off coming back inside the gopher zone for the third straight.
Drop of the puck.
Gophers are content
just to use the glass to get it out of danger.
Coscooperni now to the right, Face-off dot will take over.
Conor Roulette the goal scorer tonight so far for the Michigan Tech Huskies in the shooter position off of the draw 20 30 to 23 of the shots They went it back to him.
He had a stretch out for it over for Parker Parker shoots and a screen right in front bouncing puck Cullen picks it up tried to move it on got caught in some skates.
It's right behind the go for goal Battling down there is Cosco Gerti and coming up with it though will be
Hendricks, Hendricks up the center ice, makes a couple of weave plays, brings it down.
He's dangerous.
Hendricks brings it around, wrapped around, attempted.
Huskies take them out of the play.
That was Lucas Brenton.
And the play still inside the Michigan Tech show.
We're tied 1-1.
Late in this game, under five to play, here in the third period.
Brenton out there again, battling out there.
Beamer sends it back behind the Michigan Tech goal.
Huskies trying to get it clear.
The Gophers making a line change on the fly.
Huskies will change up some as well.
Now picked up.
by the Huskies Parker.
Parker across the line, sends it in.
Huskies poke it down with Matthew Van Blericaan.
Sends it around by DePasquo.
Huskies bounce it back down inside of the zone.
Here is Tom Leppa.
Smart, strong player.
He'll send it over, hauled in by Miller.
His shot glove down by DePasquo.
Boy, that's some great hockey right there.
Leppa over.
And a great save there by DePaspo to keep that out of that.
Sure was.
Strong
play by Lepa on the boards.
First to crowd that puck and make a great play to Miller coming in late around the far side off from his point position.
Showed some good skills to crowd that puck and he had a good shot off.
Again, another faceoff.
Of course, they're in a roll in the last minute or so.
Deep in the goal for
his
zone.
Delil taking the draw from Michigan Tech.
And nobody went in that cleanly.
Huskies came up with it.
It looked like.
Again, nobody has it.
Delil had it on his stick.
And it finally brought up the center ice.
Moe chasing it down now along with Shipley.
Handling coming up.
And it's going against the Gophers.
4-0-4 remaining here in the third period.
Delayed call.
Bartoskevich to the bench.
Extra attacker.
Out there for the Huskies.
Six on five advantage on the delayed call.
Coming across now.
This is Shipley.
Shipley hangs on to it, sends it over, chance for more.
Oh, a shot taken by Miller and touched up there by Loftus and Michigan Tech will go back on the power play.
We go down to Brady Galletto here before we hear the call.
Brady, what's going on down there?
Actually, let's hold on here, Brady.
Get the call from our referee.
Hooking
the call.
Brady, what have you been seeing down there?
Yeah, I mean, four straight offensive face-offs there for Michigan Tech, and now they're going on the power play, and you could already feel the energy come up on the bench.
Tayden Tremback, he's had a big weekend.
He's had so many opportunities, and he's a goal scorer.
And you know on the power play, they're always looking for him on the back side there, so I'm thinking he's looking to rip one.
And the Gopers might be calling a timeout, and they will.
Timeout,
Minnesota.
I think here, if you're Michigan Tech, you want to get, obviously, pucks to the net.
Make a good quick pass or two at the most and then Get it towards the net meet your lightmates at the net try to get a
rebound deflection 9-1-1 here in the third period 347 remaining, Michigan Tech will get a power play As Mason Mow who had that incredible shot to tie the game will have to sit On that hooking call could have been called a trip probably as well
Michigan Tech will take the face-off on the left dot inside of the Minnesota
zone.
Yeah.
Gophers are both teams.
They're probably just going over face-off assignments.
What do you do if you win it or lose it?
Still early in the season, just reminders.
These face-offs, of course, are magnified on the power play with only 3-47 remaining.
Koska Birchie taking the face up.
Going against Ludkey.
Huskies come up to the draw, pass over, a dangerous play there.
Poke back out to centerize, Zemar was almost gone for a pick six.
Huskies get it back inside of their own zone.
What a player Zemar is though, just so much fun to watch.
Can do anything out there with that speed.
Back across the line, Reinhardt, Reinhardt.
Got caught up a little bit back to the point.
Huskies move it over now to the left side.
Roulette, his shot did not get through.
Tried to thread the needle.
Loose puck down in the corner.
Huskies don't have numbers and a good
job by the goalkeepers to clear it down.
Hendricks again with that active stick.
It just takes time and space away.
As you can check out a power play, we're tied 1-1.
3-0-5 left to go in regulation.
Minute 15 left in the mad event of drawing hard across the line pushes it forward.
He'll go in on the four check right hook slides it around to the far side there for roulette roulette to the middle back to the point Husky's trying to settle in here Miller for roulette down low pass to the fraud
shot What a great play-all
almost all five players touched the puck.
The puck ended up on Reinhardt's stick on the goal line and he patiently, he knew Trevecki was coming from that far side towards that post.
He patiently waited for a lane open up and found him in perfect timing.
Saucerdin, or it actually maybe went off that stick that puck landed right on Trevecki's stick.
Again, that was Reinhart.
He had to delay slightly for Trembachy to get in position.
And Brady called it.
They're looking for Trembachy, and he
came through.
I'll be honest with you, I could, it went in and out so quickly, I was not, I did not think it went in until the referee made the point to the goal.
Huskies with a 2-1 lead now.
Back to 5-on-5.
Hockey will keep an eye on the past.
Right to the front of the net.
The Gophers now take it behind the net.
Back to the point.
2-1 lead for the Huskies late in the game.
Huskies overskate the puck.
Trying to get it outside of the zone they do, brought up by Cascopurte.
Cascopurte makes a move, trying to get it around the defense, takes a good hip check there from Whipple, but Cascopurte still able to deliver it to the front of the net.
She can tech, don't want to get caught with, too many guys down low, the offensive zone, back across the line, good play there by the goalkeepers to keep that onside.
Lasnika, the Huskies will bring it back out to center ice now, the Masiata will send it in, that's going to be delivered out of play, and Bayeshoff coming up at center ice.
What are you seeing down there Brady right next to the
Michigan Tech bench?
The high energy, the bench is standing up again, the crowd is into it, the fans are waving and they're doing their chance and that was a set play.
I got that from the equipment manager down here.
They have a set play where they go to the goal line and they try to slide it across to Trembachy and he's so good at finishing plays like that, he ain't gonna miss that one.
One goal lead for Michigan Tech right now, two to one here in the third period.
We're down to two minutes remaining in regulation.
Blood key.
Able to get it deep inside the Michigan Tech zone.
Bartoskewicz plays it.
And Michigan Tech will have control behind the net.
Moved up by Miller, and Miller not able to get it clear.
Huskies get it to the line, but not out.
Bartoskewicz might take it himself, and he will.
The Pascal has started making his way to the bench for the extra attacker, but had to go back in.
A lot for him now.
Backhands it all the way down.
Hardest Kevin, state of the net.
Good forecheck there.
The extra attacker is out there for the Gophers.
2-1 lead for Michigan Tech.
I'm in at 23, left to go.
6-on-5 advantage for the Gophers, right to the front.
And the Huskies almost look like they were ready.
Empty dead opportunity here for Van Blerica.
Makes a move!
Van Blerica!
Instead of going for the empty net from deep in the zone, he passed it to himself off the board, used his legs, got in good position, put it in the empty net, but unselfish play was a first ball, recognized.
He had room in front of him, used that ice, passed it to himself, then you remove the icing thread, then buried it in the zone, the empty net.
Obviously, picking the corner on that one was half a man, but recall.
Hosted it up, boys.
Oh, my goodness.
Still a minute left to go here in the third.
Two-goal lead now from Michigan Tech.
Insurance goal by the turbo agency.
Wrapped around.
Dronbach now, able to get it down deep.
Boltener back in the net now for the Gophers.
48 seconds remaining.
Husky's trying to get it clear.
Bernie will do just that.
Safely puts it down.
and Minnesota will pick it up inside of their own zone.
Shots are 30-26, goal first, but a two-goal lead now for Michigan Tech after the empty netter.
Cleared away by the Huskies, this will go down for an icing call and a face-off coming up deep inside of the Michigan Tech zone.
Let's go down to Brady Galletto at ice level.
Brady.
Yeah,
how about Matthew Van Blericombe?
You said it yourself, Brent.
Just having the patience to not try and send it from his own blue line and make a move and make a play on his way back when he was going through the line with the guys.
He's firing the crowd up.
He's an amazing young player.
Face-off, down in front of Bartoskiewicz with 30 seconds left to go.
They win the draw.
Shot black by the Huskies.
Bernie, sacrifice to the body on that one.
Had a redirect off of him, out to center-ice.
Gophers slam it back in, play behind the net.
16 seconds remaining, Huskies up by two, pass to the front, Barners-Gamer's got a piece of that one a shot, and cleared by Michigan Tech all the way down.
This'll be a nice, seen call with just six seconds left in the third period.
The Huskies on their way to a sweep of Minnesota for the first time since
2005.
Yeah, just an incredible weekend of hockey here.
Both teams just highly skilled, intense.
Quick, credible pace, goaltending physical.
And Huskies are gonna come
out on top with the sweep.
Face off, deep in the zone, shot taken by the Coppers, and that'll do it.
The Huskies.
Two game sweep against Minnesota on a Saturday Sunday series.
Write a book about this.
He's watched
three days, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Michigan Tech congratulating Coltenor Cohen Bartoszkiewicz.
Yeah, I just can't speak out enough about the caliber of hockey that was played here this weekend.
Two even teams.
I mean, the pace back and forth for two nights in a row just... The fans got treated to
Excellent hockey and you watch this Minnesota go for team young team coming together watch they're gonna do things here this this season in the Big 10 give them another month or two to jail but for Michigan Tech this is a statement weekend well deserved of the
sweet Minnesota once Mooney gets back in the lineup to that elevates this incredible lineup for Minnesota
to another notch, another level, without a doubt.
Huskies also without one of their better players and co-captain, Isaac Gordon all weekend long, but these two teams battled it out here this weekend.
Tooth and Nail, Michigan Tech coming out on top, both Knights.
They start the season two at home.
Postgame coming your way here on MIX 93 WKMJ in Midco Sports.
Glad to have you with us here.
Huskies win it.

Welcome back here on mix 93 our post game show is upon us and that is brought to you by keep it overhead door On Sherrod Avenue in Houghton.
It's where to go for your garage door Insulation and service needs keep it overhead door your globe a garage door dealer of the copper country stopping a call for a 337 91 open Monday through Friday big win tonight permission to get tech to get the sweep for the first time against the gopher since 2005 a 3 to 1
Final score after an empty net goal the Huskies with the game winner in the on-the-power play late in this game and what a job by Michigan Tech Here tonight and the weekend to find a way to beat the Gophers twice.
Yeah, obviously, that's not easy to do a really good team in the Gophers rank 14 lineup filled with NHL prospects and just a highly skilled and big Gopher team that you they they compete and
They're going to find their way.
They're going to get better as they kind of gel as a team throughout the season.
But for Michigan Tech to earn a sweep here this weekend, because these were both games were evenly matched.
You can't say it was a fluke.
It was well earned both ways.
In Minnesota, one break, they could have came out of here with the win and same thing last night.
So it was just, at first glance, just incredibly excellent weekend of hockey.
Highly skilled, competitive, fast, physical, great colt, it had everything.
And Tech just proved to itself, perhaps, or put other teams on notice that if their expectations are to win a championship in the CCHA, they play like that.
They're going to give themselves a chance by the end of the year.
Last night, we were talking, Brent, about how the pace of the first period
Was the same in the second period and third period which it doesn't normally see tonight It was fast most of the day.
Maybe not quite at the pace we saw last night, but you are right man these teams Again, there's a lot of new players on both of these teams, but especially the Gophers they don't look like that at all They look like they've been playing together for a long time, but the Huskies really I thought the new guys
It looked like they've been with all of these other guys for a couple of seasons already.
And that's rare on the first weekend.
It sure is.
I mean, really, they've been practicing for a month.
And this is, you can't practice at the golfer's pace.
I don't care how hard you try.
When you play the golfers, it's another level.
So to elevate your game and be prepared and ready for it, for six periods, we had a little bit of a lull here, I thought.
You know me mid part of the game and then the Gophers sort of took that momentum over when they got that five minute advantage and we were a little Down in our energy for several but other than that Give tech credit they were able to rally there on that power play and make a play to win the game it was It was entertaining
And being a student of the game is, I mean, there is just so many good things happening all over that ice that you can build on the rest of the season.
Can you talk a little bit more about Trembachy's goal and what you saw there?
Because, you know, there's a lot going on there.
And again, for the casual fan, it might look like there were some accidents that happened there, but not really the case.
No, and it
started actually.
We're under pressure at the high wall.
They're pressuring us.
And this is, I want to ask coach about this, but we are very comfortable now using the center of the ice.
So it's almost like a release valve in your own zone, in the offensive zone.
So where's Casca Pertigo?
He knows his buddy's in trouble on the wall.
Rather than going dig his stick in there, he hangs out in the middle of the ice.
His buddy finds him, throws it to the point.
Now we have the puck in control and possession.
We throw it down to Reinhardt on the wall.
He's patient, waits for Trebek to get
Into his space in timing.
It's just a slight delay, but if he grabs it and throws it across turn Becky's not there So that little play it started with Koska Purdy Being a release valve for his buddy that was in trouble on the wall To set it up.
I mean that's that's a sign of maturity and trust in your teammates We do it all in our defensive zone where we move it from the wall behind our goal in front of Bart
To a sentiment that's expecting the puck That takes skill and trust in each other and if that play is not made that especially, you know, that's probably in your net So there's a level of maturity It just jumps off the ice for me and that's what's so exciting and your coach will let you get him fired up
Won't be too hard tonight a 3-1 final here, Michigan Tech over Minnesota to complete the sweep we go to head coach
Bill McCault is brought to you by fine line tire and fine line tire express congratulations coach finishing off a big win here tonight that was not easy again and again it looked like two very good teams battling it up here today what are your thoughts
yeah tremendous hockey game you know it ebbed and flowed I thought we got a little bit away from our structure in the second period and give Minnesota credit
But I think we got away from it a little bit there and challenged the guys obviously killed off most of that five Just really proud of how we finished it off and you know really happy You know Carson Bernie at the end.
He soaks that big shot But just a lot of contributions great to get that power play goal then from you know, Ryan's makes a hack of a play to Tram and he buries one and and He's a cookie monster.
So, you know, he was gonna get his before the weekend was over
Coach, I know
you're still processing the weekend, but what have you learned about your team here over this weekend?
Anything surprise you?
Well, I've liked this group.
We're a more mature group than last year.
We preach about consistency.
But really, when we played our identity, played our structure, we have a really good team.
I thought Ellie Jonson was good.
Obviously, Lepa van B, Bernie's line was great and good to see Roulette.
Good.
Tyler Miller made a great play, but, you know, Brenton and Parks were horses.
Those are some ball players.
Colin and Bernovic and Zeemer and, you know, they had some really, really good hockey players on that thing.
So I thought it was a great opening weekend.
It is not a traditional opening weekend.
I thought it was a pretty good hockey on both sides.
Coach, can you talk a little bit again about Matthew Van Blericom?
I mean, the play he made right in front of you, right in front of the bench there to pass it to himself.
I'll talk a little bit about his play this weekend and on that play to seal it away.
Yeah, for sure.
And Ali Janssen made a heck of a play before that to seal it, but a great individual.
effort from from MVB now as a foot he's known at the Mac you know so Ellie's got this puck here and he just makes a really good touch and Matty realizes he's going to get pressure he beats one guy and then just chips it to himself and and you know really good play there by both those guys
All right,
coach.
Well, we'll let you go.
We'll talk to you on your show on Tuesday.
Congratulations.
This was a big win against a very good team and a nice sweep.
And enjoy this one for a couple of days.
Thanks, Derek.
I appreciate it, guys.
All right.

Welcome back to our postgame show brought to you by Keven overhead door.
Let's get to our three stars.
I wasn't trying to shoe Brent away.
He's a very busy man I like to get him off the headset if he wants to get going but I was thinking we'd already done our three stars in Spirit National Big Spirit play of the game and we haven't so he's still here.
We love it.
3-1 win tonight from Michigan Tech.
Let's get to our third star brought to you by local state farm agents Kelly Jepsen, Dean Kangus and Calumet.
Sarah Lottie at Hancock, Mademblatt, and lots and lots and lots.
Brent?
Yeah.
So first, how do you select three or four players out of those 40 that played there this weekend?
Just incredibly difficult.
But I thought Brody Zeemer for them was outstanding.
Their captain, all over the ice, physical, led the charge offensively, was their best penalty killer by far.
But I thought he was outstanding.
He's got a jump in his step, for sure.
Buffalo draft pick.
We'll see what comes with that in the future.
But he is a big time hockey player and he was excellent tonight.
You know, he watched
him.
He's like always lurking there too.
If he's not right in the middle of the play, he's right there waiting for you to make a mistake.
Husky's made a couple tonight and he almost, you know, capitalized.
on them.
He's a special player.
Good call on that one.
Who's our second
starter?
Yeah, I thought another go for Axel Lofgren, the big defenseman.
I mean, he could have given it to Hendricks or Whipple.
I thought were excellent for them.
But he was all over the place.
He took a he was very physical, aggressive, took a couple of penalties.
But I thought he was outstanding.
He was leading the rush.
Highly skilled defenseman out of Sweden played in Fargo.
But again, just not drafted.
But he was outstanding.
I thought for the Gophers tonight, and you watch the Gophers defense, we get a break and then we don't.
They were able to, they skate so well and with their reach, get a stick in there and the play is broken up.
But just when you think we got them, no, we don't.
They can recover so quickly and I thought they were, they were all very good, but.
26 was excellent tonight.
How about a number one star?
Well, if you, when you didn't make a play, you got to go if you get the game winning goal with a couple minutes left, you got to go with Trembecchi.
He just showed his sort of scoring knack, kind of lurk on that back corner, come in with perfect timing and bury it.
You know, he had it on the stick, the game literally on the line and he finished it.
So not a lot of players can do that.
He did.
And that was the difference tonight.
One play.
You
finished it off.
Three stars brought to you by your local state farm agents.
We'll take a time out.
Actually, let's go right to our superior play of the game.
Our superior play of the game brought to you by Superior National Bank.
How do we have tonight, Brent?
Well,
we got to go to the gold tanner, don't we?
Yeah.
Bartoskevich, I don't know, we ended up with 31, 32 saves somewhere in there.
But he's a rock back there.
He just seems to do everything right.
Even if he makes a mistake, he's able to recover.
He does simple things like knocks a puck down, throws it off the glass.
He's doing breakout passes, bypassing his defenseman.
And as a team, when you know you've got that back there, when you make a mistake, because you will make mistakes against a good club like the Gophers, he's there, got your back.
It's got to be incredibly settling to have that player
sort of backstopping the play.
He was, he was outstanding.
One goal, perfect shot by Moe there just to, that was almost perfect goal
tending.
Artis Kevits are superior national bank, superior player of the game tonight and a 3-1 final Michigan Tech over Minnesota to complete the sweep.
Thanks Brent for the help this week and we appreciate it.
We'll be back with more of our post game show right after this on MIX 93.

Our post game being brought to you by Keemana overhead door.
I'd share an avenue in Houghton and a 3-1 final here tonight for Michigan Tech and to complete the sweep against the 14th ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers.
We go to the second period after a scoreless first period.
It was Connor Roulette gets his very first goal as a Husky from Tyler Miller and Michael Cicek.
Here it was at the 6-12 mark to open up the scoring tonight.
Costa 30 coming down with Miller.
And Trulette, Trulette to the Costa 30.
Droking up nicely by the Gophers.
Backhand and picked up by Miller.
Miller's got a lead to the Ness, and it's an over.
Shot the goalers!
We're at the line, number 29, and a great feed by Miller.
And the Huskies with a second straight night.
Score first, 1-0.
6-12, the time of that goal.
Again, Tyler Miller and Michael Cicek on Conor Roulet's very first goal as a Husky.
He made it one to nothing.
Huskies had that one-nothing lead going into the second intermission, but it was Mason Mow at the end of a five-minute major penalty that was called against Bernie for boarding.
Right towards the end of it, the Minnesota Golden Gophers were finally able to get one, and this was a pretty shot.
Mason Mow, his first of the season from Lofgren and Mer, this tied it up at the 8-12 mark of the third period, 1-1.
Back to Murr again.
Murr to the middle.
Trying to shoot it towards the goal.
Here's a pass over.
Mow with a shot and he scores.
Beautiful shot by Moore.
Ties the game up and Mow with just a rocket off of the crossbar.
Takes it a 1-1 score.
Nice shot there by Mason Mow.
There was nothing that goaltender Barton Scaveridge could have done on that one.
And they tie it up late in that power play and make it a 1-1 score.
But the Huskies get a power play late in the game.
A five on four advantage and they
Capitalized on it.
17-14 the time of the goal.
Tayden, Trembecki's first to the season, first in the power play.
And it's from Reinhardt and Roulette.
This gave the Huskies the 2-1 lead.
3-0-5 left to go in regulation.
Minute 15 left in the man advantage.
Reinhardt across the line, pushes it forward.
He'll go in on the forecheck.
Reinhardt slides it around to the far side.
There for Roulette.
Roulette to the middle, back to the point.
Huskies trying to settle in here.
Miller for Roulette.
Down low, pass to the front.
David Trembecchi's first to the season again that was from Noah Reinhardt and Conor Roulette.
Goaltender pulled for the Minnesota Golden Gophers and he came close so many times but the Huskies were gonna get a great play from Matthew Van Blericombe who bolts the puck off of the boards to himself past the defenseman with an open net and he buried it this to put it away at the 1851 mark of the third period to make it a 3-1 score.
2-1 lead for Michigan Tech, a minute 23 left to go.
6-on-5 advantage for the Gophers right to the front and the Huskies almost look like they were ready.
Empty dead opportunity here for Van Blerica, makes a move.
Van Blerica comes in, shoots, scores!
Ilyas Yatsen with the assist on that goal and Van Blericaum with three goals on the weekend.
He is out to a very good start and Minnesota with this the one goal but a pretty one by Mason Mow on the power play but that was it.
The Huskies were able to hold on and win by a score of three to one tonight.
Shots.
30 for the Gophers, 26 for Michigan Tech.
So again, very evenly played power plays.
The Gophers were one for two that split up that five minute major after they scored towards the end of it.
Michigan Tech one for three on the man advantage where there were no power play goals scored last night.
Look at the Pasquot ended up with 23 saves for the Gophers.
Owen Bartoskevich outstanding in that tonight for the Huskies.
He ended up with 29 saves and taking a look at the face offs tonight.
Michigan Tech
had the face-off advantage, 55.4% to 44.6% for the Gophers.
And that is a good stat for Michigan Tech trying to stay above that 50% on the draws.
And that is going to do it.
The Huskies with an impressive win here tonight.
Finish off the sweep against the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
They will be on the road next weekend.
