Pre-game show continuing here on MIX 93.
Our first superior service coaches interview of the night is Calumet Copper Kings head coach Josh Franti.
Coach, thank you so much for your time.
Yep, no problem.
Always great to have you.
I did want to start with the game two weeks ago right here at Agassi Field.
The 21 to 18 win over Nagani.
Coming through the lightning delay, a late push by the minors in that game.
The Copper Kings were able to hold on and secure that big win.
How do you feel that show, or how do you feel that displays your team and the resiliency they need to show over the course of this season?
Yeah, for sure.
I mean, if you look at our schedule, we play a lot of good football teams.
And obviously, Negani is one of those teams.
And to kind of do what we did and get up on them and kind of control the game like we did was good for the kids to see that we can do that against a good team.
And then, obviously, you deal with weather, usually not that early in the season.
But it wasn't very ideal.
But I thought the kids did a good job handling
it.
All right.
And then taking a look at last week, you went to a nominee, lost that game 22-8.
Obviously, the Maroons a fantastic football program.
But what did you learn about what this team needs to pick up and try to do better over the course of the rest of the season in that one?
You know, just limit mistakes, right?
All the big plays that we kind of gave up, we hit.
We had a blown coverage here or a missed tackle here.
We kind of hurt ourselves.
And when you do that against a good team, right, they're going to take advantage of it.
And obviously, Minami is a really good football team.
And they took advantage of some of the things that we did to hurt ourselves.
So I thought it was a good learning game for them, right?
You don't ever want to lose.
But I thought there were some good lessons in there for our kids to learn early in the season.
And two weeks ago, Oscar Locus was the main ball carrier for you guys.
He really stole the show, had a fantastic game overall.
Last week, it was more Trent Anderson
Tyler Halonen who we're leading in carries out of the backfield.
Are you looking to try to keep the spread among your players in the backfield more consistent?
Do you look more as a week-to-week decision who will get the bulk of the carries or is it just how it shakes out during the game?
You know, we try to spread the ball between all of them, right?
They're all really good athletes and can hurt teams in different ways.
And teams give you certain things.
And if they want to take one away, right, you got two others to kind of use.
So depending on what the defense is doing, right, that kind of dictates it.
And we just, at the end of the day, we're not worried about who has all the stats and this or that, right?
And the guys know that, right?
There's three of them.
And once you start splitting up 40, 50 plays in a game, right, it's pretty limited.
And they do a great job.
when their numbers called that they get after it.
And if their numbers not called, they're usually blocking and they do a great job on that side.
And this is another big game coming up really three back to back to back headliner games for you in this regular season.
Kingsford still undefeated.
They're coming off a 21 to 16 win against the Nagani minors themselves.
What are you expecting from them in this matchup?
And what have you learned over the course of the years to be ready for coming from this team?
Yeah, they're
going to be physical, right?
They got a big lineup front.
Everyone kind of knows that and sees it on film.
So and that's kind of what we like to do too.
We count on our guys up front.
So really it's going to be a battle in the trenches.
Obviously they're bigger, but like I tell our guys, everyone's always bigger than us.
So we got to stay low.
They got some real good football players over there, but I think our plan plan has been good and the kids kind of bought in and it should be a great game.
Copper Kings head coach Josh
Franti.
Thank you so much for your time.
Good luck in this week's matchup.
Thank you.
Appreciate it.

Welcome back everyone pre-game show continuing on mix 93 joined by Kingsford Flippers head coach Mark Navarra coach.
Thank you so much for your time.
Sure.
Thank you Starting with how the game went last week your 4-0 to start this year coming off a win 21 to 16 against Nagani last week
What did it take for your team to overcome a very good minors team in that matchup?
Yeah, just, you know, making plays at the end of the game was big for us.
We had a fourth on stop, right before halftime.
Right on our one-year line, there was a big momentum swing for us.
But just tackling and keeping after those guys.
And talking with Coach Josh Franti yesterday, we heard he's expecting this to be a battle in the trenches.
Both teams have a very solid rushing attack coming into this game.
What are you expecting from your players or do you think there are any key offensive players that you want to keep an eye on in this game?
Oh, I
guess the quarterback stands out right away, right?
He's he's a fantastic player.
You know, he hurt us a lot last year also.
You know this the whole backfield, you know, I think here is fantastic.
You know, just I think the way this program runs up here is
One of those ones that you always have to have your ears pinned back because they're going to be well coached.
They're going to be underneath you.
They're going to be fast and they're going to be physical.
And talking a lot about how you're going to approach this game from a defensive perspective in the first four weeks, you've allowed a combined 38 points.
There are a lot of teams that give up.
those kind of numbers in a single game on defense.
So what would you say has been the main story behind the success on the defensive side of the ball for you so far this season?
You know, just doing our jobs, right?
And I think that's what the name of the game is, right?
Is making sure you're doing your assignment and doing it well.
Sometimes we stray a little bit from it, but, you know, we've got a really nice offense and defensive line.
And those guys keep us, you know, they definitely keep
us in games.
And finally, since we talked about it, these are two pretty similar teams just based on how their offensive schemes are run.
What are you hoping will be the difference maker for the Flivers tonight as they try to overcome the cover
case?
Well, hopefully they don't hold the ball on us for most of the game, right?
And that's kind of their MO is they like to do long, long drives and, you know, they don't like to punt the whole bunch and getting our offense on the field will be big.
Head coach Mark Navarra, thank you so much for your
time.
Good luck tonight.
Appreciate it.

Is Coke Zero Sugar the best Coke ever?
Try and decide.
Welcome back everybody pregame show continuing here on mix 93 and it's time for our featured players the game brought to you by Keweenaw Automotive Starting first with the hometown Calumet Copper Kings.
It's the four-headed monster out of their backfield the three running backs Oscar Locus Keith Boivisto and Trent Anderson and of course the quarterback number 16 Tyler Howlin and you've heard coach Martin Vara for the Kingsford Clivers mentioned him specifically in that pregame interview So we're gonna have to see which of the four ball carriers in the backfield gets the bulk of the carries for the
Topper Kings in this matchup.
On the other side for the Kingsford Flivers, we have their quarterback number 15, Blake Tomasowski, excuse me.
Entering his senior season, he's been fantastic.
Also a very rush heavy quarterback in the back field for the Flivers.
Number 21, their usual starting running back, Jake Lockhart.
is questionable tonight due to an injury.
We'll see how much time he gets out on the field for Kingsford.
We're not entirely sure.
He is currently suited.
He's out on the field.
He was part of their warm-ups earlier.
Well, getting stretched out.
So, looks like he'll at least play some reps tonight, but whether he'll be the main force in the back heel for Kingsford is still up in the air.
Number five, Triton Painter, a player expected to get a lot of those reps out of the running back position, especially if Lockhart is unavailable for Kingsford in this one.
But two teams very similar offensively, a run first offense, orchestrated by both of these rosters as they try to just stop.
establish dominance in the trenches and frankly try to play the time of possession game against each other.
Again coach Navarra mentioned time of possession specifically as a big concern.
We were here two weeks ago and watched the Calumet-Nagani game.
The Copper King started the game with a 10 and a half minute long drive that was entirely rushing plays all the way down the field and essentially iced the miners out of the entirety of the first quarter and put some points up on the board.
So if they can find rhythms like that once again here in Calumet it's
going to be a tough night for the Flivers as they look to remain undefeated so far in this season.
Our Game Day forecast for today is brought to you by Bucco's PartyStore.
Right now in Calumet, a nice 65 degrees, not a cloud in the sky over Agassi Field.
Should be a fantastic night for football.
Although I did say that a couple weeks ago, there was very little chance of precipitation later in the night.
It looks like there is currently none.
So we're gonna hope the clouds stay away and we can get this game done in 48 minutes of game time without an hour plus lightning delay in the middle.
But it looks like it should cool off to around 57 degrees by the time this game is wrapping up.
So once again, a fantastic night weather-wise for football, at least as it looks like right now.
Our view from the press box is brought to you by Uncle's Restaurant of Hancock and Agassi Field continues to get more and more charming over the course of the season.
fall colors starting to evolve a bit more around the field.
Here you can see the trees turning red and orange around the perimeter of the field.
Every side besides the grandstand side of the field is boxed in by a nice tree line.
I believe there's a park separating Agassi field from the rest of the Calumet School District buildings and of course downtown Calumet to our right in the press box.
So an absolutely beautiful sight for some late September football.
Looking forward to seeing another marquee match up here on MIX 93.
We'll be right back to wrap up the post

Welcome back everybody, pre-game show by Houghton Building Supply, continuing here on Mixed93.
And the Kingsford Flivers were a little bit late arriving to the field.
They're still out of the field doing their warm-ups.
I don't believe either team has been ready to do the coin toss quite yet, although the officials aren't out at midfield waiting for that.
So once we know the results of the coin toss, we'll make sure that you are aware of that.
About five minutes left on our kickoff timer and the fans filling in the stands quite nicely once again here at Agassi Field.
It is homecoming night here for Calumet High School, so all of the different classes have dedicated banners for sections to sit in.
Across the grandstand here at the field visiting bleachers from Kingsford also filling up quite nicely so far and It looks like you'll be another fantastic night for football.
Maybe not quite the fanfare We saw with the veteran salute night in the Hall of Fame induction ceremony here two weeks ago I don't believe we're going to have any Michigan Army National Guard helicopters flying over for the national anthem this time so Should be a bit more of a traditional homecoming football game than what we saw here in Calumet a couple of weeks ago, but regardless the
Importance of this game for both teams remains paramount.
The Copper Kings coming off their first loss of the season to a fantastic Menominee team.
Really, the four teams that seem to be in control of high school football in the U.P.
right now are Calumet, Menominee, Kingsford and the Gawney.
Barkover Harris is also undefeated.
They're doing a great job of keeping their name in the conversation as well, looking to fight for a playoff appearance.
But these four teams are kind of the old guard that
have been really bringing the rest of upper peninsula football along with them.
So seeing the Copper Kings go up against really their big three rivals in the regular season and back to back to back weeks has been a pretty interesting situation here.
A lot of the conversation I've been hearing around these games is that if the Copper Kings managed to get out of this series of games two and one and currently sitting in one and one.
Then they're in fantastic spot for at least a home playoff appearance, assuming they can do the job they're expected to do and clean up a good chunk of their remaining regular season schedule.
Obviously, the other teams they're going to be facing later this season will have something to say about that.
But Kingsford, still sitting undefeated at 4-0, they've yet to face Menominee, but they did play Nagani last week, so they've gotten one of those big games off their schedule as well.
So this game and the Menominee matchup, I believe, in two weeks' time looms large for the Flivers.
But the fans in the stands know how important this game is for both teams.
I could see the Calubet High School band off to our left here getting ready to take the field for the National Anthem.
Plenty of fans out on the field behind the stadium as well.
Not quite the crowd that we saw when there was a helicopter back there to investigate, but still plenty of fans, a lot standing out behind the goal post to the West, I believe.
Throwing some balls around.
Killing time, getting ready for this game to get going.
The cheer team in front of us as well and getting excited to get started here in this big week five matchup.
I do want to mention early on that tomorrow afternoon, a one o'clock pregame show with a 130 kickoff will be covering the Powers North Central at Lake Lindenhubble game.
That's eight on eight football, another big game for the Lake Lindenhubble lakes in that matchup looking to remain undefeated.
They are currently the near consensus number one team in UP8B8 football.
I believe a single vote is going to pick for in the recent UPSSA poll.
And the Calumet Copper Kings now taking the field.
Stands in the stands getting excited flags waiting in the committed student section about half a dozen of them And I'm sure the Kingsford flippers will be soon to join their opponents actually they're still on the field And I believe we're still waiting for the coin toss to be conducted before this matchup But the Copper Kings fans showing up in numbers for our second game being covered here This is also the high school football game of the week for TV6 so
A lot of eyes focusing on this matchup.
A big game here in Calumet for both of these schools.
Warm-ups still being done on the field by the Kingsford Flippers.
I'm expecting they'll probably wrap that up pretty soon here, but want to make sure their players are fresh and ready to go.
Again, they got here a little bit later than I think they expected, so they just want to make sure all their players are warmed up and stretched out.
Obviously, do not want a player out there who is not able to give 100% today.
Entry updates in today's game brought to you by Sarah's.
In dental, I do want to mention again that number 21 for the Kingsford Flivers, Jake Lockhart, is considered questionable for the day.
He is suited up.
He was on the field.
Talking with his teammates during warm-ups, I didn't see him personally taking any reps, although he's out there in pads and obviously the entire team's out there.
He may have gotten lost in the shuffle while I was getting ready for our pre-game show.
So yet to see how much of an impact he'll be able to make in this game, but obviously a very deep rushing focus team.
for the Kingsford Flivers, very similar to the Copper Kings.
I'm sure they'll have another player who's able to step up and get ready in the case that he's not cleared to play, possibly only on the offensive side of the ball.
We'll have to see.
But the Calumet ban takes the field.
We'll have the national anthem coming up as they approach.
For tonight's artsy football game, we're going to be visiting Keith and Sir Clevers, coach of Mr. Mark Navarra, and your host, the Cayman Carpacans, coach of Mr. Josh Bryant.
And I'll just call on you to please rise and jell him through with your hands.
As the pride of the Q&A, the Cayman High School marching band, under the direction of Mr. Ryan Watt, and led by drug mages Lewis Nagle and Lizzie Crouch, honor our nation with the playing of the National Anthem, and the Cayman Junior ROTC,
Command like that major Grace T presents the

Countdown to kickoff here on Mixed 93.
Our kickoff today is brought to you by Kirkish Furniture of Houghton.
They've been locally owned for 113 years, featuring brand name furniture, appliances, and floor coverings.
Thank you to Kirkish Furniture for sponsoring tonight's broadcast as the Calumet Pet Band finishes their fight song.
The teams have headed back to their sidelines.
Special teams' units getting ready to take the field here at Agassiz.
Looks like a near sellout crowd here for the Copper Kings tonight.
As the band has headed back to the sidelines.
And it looks like the Calumet Copper Kings will be receiving the kickoff.
Two
returners in the backfield for them.
It's number
20, Andrew Huntala.
And number 25, Keith Coy Visto, one of the running backs out of the backfield on offense.
Kicking team is taking the field now for the Kingsford Flivers.
It'll be number 40 kicking off.
Who unfortunately I do not have on my depth chart.
So I'm sure who that player is at the moment.
Possibly a fifth quarter player from their junior varsity team they have out there taking kicks.
Ball at the 45 yard line.
Both teams ready.
12 minutes on the clock.
And here comes the kickoff.
High school football underway here in Calumet.
Kickoff sends back, fielded by Hontala.
Hontala cuts to his right.
Hontala had room but brought through and a hard hit coming in from number 54.
That's Grayson Butterfield from the Flivers who breaks through his block and brings down Hontala before he can get downfield.
Copper Kings will start with the ball at their own 30 or at their own 25 yard line 1154 on the clock in our first quarter first quarter of today's game brought to you by Ryla kitchens and cabinetry in Houghton Tyler Hallen and in the backfield for Calumet takes the snap hands it off and pulls it back quarterback keeper breaks through two tackles and he'll be brought down after getting about eight yards on the first play of the game
Number 15, Blake Tomasowski in on the tackle.
Second down and short coming up here for
Calumet.
The ball now at the 33 yard line.
It started on the 25 to begin this drive.
Alladin lined up in shotgun, four receivers out wide.
Keith Coyvisto in the backfield.
Alladin takes the snap, pitches out to Keith Coyvisto.
Coyvisto has room to work to his left, turns up field and he'll be brought down.
Not able to get a ton of yards there.
He's actually still on his feet, but brought down behind the line of scrimmage.
Looks like he may have had room to shed a tackle and get through.
Possibly for a first down.
Wines up being a loss of a couple yards.
Third down and about five yards coming up here.
A three and out to start this game for the Flivers would be
massive.
Unfortunately, I believe I missed the coin toss in midfield pregame, so I'm not sure who won the toss.
But regardless, Calumet begins with the ball.
Allenen, shotgun, takes the snap, quarterback keeper once again after the fake handoff, and the flippers are all over it.
Brought down in the backfield.
That's number 21, Jake Lockhart.
Fourth down and about six coming up.
And let's see what the Calumet Copper Kings elect to do here.
It'd be a fourth and six balls currently at the twenty-nine yard line of the Copper King, so going forward here would be very aggressive.
And it looks like they will elect to punt.
Getting ready to punt for the Copper King's number sixteen, the quarterback, Tyler Hallinan.
Two returners back for the Flivers.
Howlin' and gets the kick off cleanly.
That ball has hit well and should take a nice Calumet bounce.
Muff by number 15 for the Flivers, who recovers, keeps the ball in balance, cuts through a couple defenders.
He'll be brought down around where he got his hand on the ball initially.
The Flivers will begin their first drive at their own 35-yard line.
Blake Tomasowski, the quarterback, the player who had a bit of issue with the punt there.
And that ball was just turning over repeatedly in the air.
Difficult to catch that ball cleanly.
But no harm, no foul.
On the return for the Flivers, they begin with the ball in a decent spot on their first drive of the game.
Tomasowski in the shotgun.
Two backs in the backfield with them.
I believe it's Lockhart and Triton Painter.
Tomasowski takes the snap.
Hands it off.
That's Painter, who will be met at the line of scrimmage and slowed down at least may have gained a yard or two before the play has whistled dead.
We heard it from coach Josh Franti in our pre-game interview.
This is going to be a battle in the trenches and so far it has lived up to that billing.
A three and out to start for the Copper Kings and a run for a game of two yards for the Flivers on their first play of the game.
Second down an eight ball at the Kings for 37 yard line.
Tomasowski in the shotgun once again.
Takes the snap steps back looking to pass throws out to his left and that ball is caught and immediately down to near the line of scrimmage.
It's number one Bradley Boutre... Boutrezy.
Batosi, excuse me.
And third and nine coming up for the Kingsford Flivers.
8.54 on the clock.
Ball is actually ruled an incomplete pass.
And a quarterback keeper right at the middle, breaks a tackle, breaks another.
And number 15 that's Blake Tomasowski gains about 30 yards after breaking three tackles in the front
seven.
And that'll move the Chains the first big play of the game for either side.
Now firmly in Copper King territory.
Clock continues to run under nine minutes in this first quarter.
And that is the consistent threat for both of these teams.
You may be able to contain them many times in a row, but eventually they will break loose.
Tomasowski in the shot-gut takes the snap, hands it off the painter.
He'll gain about three before being brought down.
Nice work by the Calumet defensive line once again.
Second down coming up.
Snap breaks for the Kingsford Flivers.
Tomasowski has it back in the backfield but he's in front.
Stepping back looks like a passing formation at first.
Tomasowski takes the snap.
It's going to be a handoff to one of the receivers.
That's number 30, Dawson Hood, who took the carry after a motion from the left side of the line.
He'll gain a yard or so and be stopped once again.
Another third and long coming up here for Kingsford.
The band getting loud here at Agassi Field.
They need to shut down this drive preferably with a loss of yards to force a punt here on this third down It's gonna be shotgun formation once again two backs in the backfield Tomasowski Takes the snap rolls out to his left and it's a keeper and handed off to painter Creative work with a hand off there, and I believe he's gonna be close to a first down.
We'll see if he actually has it
And it's going to be a fourth in inches coming up.
Oh, never mind.
Favorable spot there for the Flivers making a first down.
Ball now at the Calumet 27 yard line.
Tomasowski took the snap, ran out to his left behind Painter, and after he moved past Painter on the opposite side from where he had initially started, stuck his right hand back to hand it off.
Some trickery there in the backfield trying to confuse the front seven.
And Trenton Painter, just that immediate burst of speed, got him right through the defensive line, enough for the first down.
Tomasowski hands it off this time to number six, that's Brock Flaminio.
Gained a yard on that play, second down and nine coming up.
Ball at the Calumet Copper King, 26.
That big breakaway run, earlier in the drive.
By the quarterback Tomasowski, keeping them in good field position here.
In the shotgun once again, second down and nine coming up.
Tomasowski takes the snap, rolls out to his left.
Looks like a quarterback keeper.
Design quarterback run, he gets up field, has room to work.
Tomasowski gets around one tackler, but it'll be brought down at about the 21 yard line.
It'll be third down and short coming up, gain of about six.
About halfway through this first quarter, Tomasowski did get out of bounds.
And a substitution here.
Number 9, Dom Fredrickson coming off the field.
Number 10, Cooper Kresge, coming in at wide receiver.
And now Fredrickson actually comes back onto the field.
Two receivers out wide, one with the offensive line.
Tom Masowski.
In shotgun, takes the snap, takes the handoff, keeps it himself, cuts up the middle, and he'll be met at the defensive line once again.
He's not going to have enough for a first down, fourth at about two yards coming up, and I would expect the Flippers are going to elect to go for it here.
Coach Mark Navarra has seen the success that his rushing attack has gotten him over the course of this season.
I'd expect him to keep it on the ground, possibly run it right up the middle on this play.
Tomasowski, shotgun once again, painter to his right.
Blake takes the snap, cuts up the middle, shakes the tackle, shakes another, and he'll have the first down.
Ball will be stopped at about the 11 yard line.
So another set of downs coming now for the Flivers, doing a nice job of keeping this possession alive.
A conversion on third and long, two conversions on third and long actually, and a conversion there on a fourth and two.
Nice work by Kingsford.
Let's see if that first and second down yardage can come along a little bit more cleanly for them in the rest of this drive.
Ball is placed at the Calumet 11.
Seven minutes gone in this first quarter.
Game still tied at zero.
Tomasowski, shotgun takes the snap, makes a handoff, cuts at the middle once again, breaks to the outside, beats a tackler, and he will reach the end zone untouched.
Touchdown, Kingsford flivers.
An 11 yard touchdown run for the senior quarterback.
PAT is brought to you by Range Bank of the Copper Country.
And we'll see if this is going to be, it looks like it'll be a one point kick for the PAT.
A lot of local high school teams like to go for two instead, but a traditional seven point touchdown attempt coming up here.
It's number six, Brock Flaminio.
Kick is up and clean through the uprights right down the middle.
Make it 7-0.
Kingsford Fliver is in the lead.
We'll see how the Copper Kings respond at 60 seconds here on MIX 93.

Flivers were quick to kick that ball right back off to the Calumet Copper Kings.
It was fielded once again by number 20 for the Copper Kings, Andrew Juntala.
And he got to about the 20 yard line before being met by number five, Trenton Painter.
Second drive for the Copper Kings, beginning with 4.48 to go in this first quarter.
Trailing by seven.
Let's see how the Copper Kings respond Tyler Hallinan in the backfield number 36 Trent Anderson back there with him three receivers out wide Hallinan takes a snap hands it off to Trent Anderson Anderson will go up the middle he'll gain about a two yards before being brought down
Number
44 Max Anderson in on the tackle second down and eight coming
up
Flippers only one pass attempt on that drive.
Copper Kings have yet to make a pass attempt in this game.
Allen and shotgun once again, Trent Anderson still in the backfield.
Same formation, three receivers out wide.
And a flag on the play, it's going to be a false start called against the Copper Kings.

Second
down and 13 coming up now.
Ball now back at the 17 yard line.
83 yards to the end zone.
Clock continues to roll.
Four minutes left in this first quarter.
Halledon, shotgun once again.
Trent Anderson still in the backfield with him.
Halledon.
Takes the snap, hands it off to Trent.
He pulls the ball back for a keeper, but he's met in the backfield.
And that's number 21.
That's Jake Lockhart, the running back.
He was only in for a player two at fullback on the first drive of the game for Kingsborough.
Maybe he'll be seeing more snaps on the defensive side of the ball in this drive instead of stressing out a potential injury that he's recovering from a couple weeks ago.
It's gonna be third down and 14 to go a loss of one credit credit it to Tyler Halonen on that rush attempt Seven nothing flippers Calumet needs a first down here third and 14 Halonen shotgun takes the snap rolls back looking left goes deep And it's just barely overthrown
Was looking for Carter Solada Who ran a crossing route far up the field that would have been a gain of 35 yards If he had made that pass touch the in the tips of his fingers, but not quite able to bring that ball in a Well-placed ball by Halonen out of reach of any potential defenders But just barely too far for Solada And Halonen far back near his own end zone getting ready to punt the ball away once again
Kick is off cleanly.
This kick has some spiro on it, fielded cleanly this time by Tomasowski who cuts around a couple defenders and this drive will start in Copper King territory either at the 45 or 46 yard line.
Really
good field position to start this second
drive.
Flippers with a touchdown on their first drive of the game, still leading seven to nothing.
And we'll see if they can keep their foot on the gas on this second drive.
242 to go in this first quarter.
Tomasowski in the backfield, shotgun, two running backs, Sheriff.
A receiver out to each side.
Tomasowski takes the snap.
and hands it off.
That's number 30 Dawson Hood who will gain about seven yards and a second and short coming up.
Sharing the rock quite a bit so far.
They found a bit of success with Painter in the backfield.
Tomasowski had that big breakaway run.
Also had the touchdown from 11 yards out on the first drive of the game for the Flippers, excuse me.
And now Hood getting involved in the backfield as well.
Second down and actually second and five an unfavorable spot for hood and it off the painter painter will break through the initial line of defenders But brought down eventually by number 62 for the copper Kings.
That's Liam Dubobian and a third and inches coming up for the for the flippers Under two minutes of play now in this first quarter The crowd filling in nicely still
Here at Agassi Field, plenty of fans out on the field behind the stadium.
Hoping to see the Copper Kings win a big game at homecoming.
Tomasowski, quarterback keeper right at the middle and I believe he will have the yards for a first down, yes he does.
Chains move, Flivers will get a fresh set of downs at the Copper King in 34 yard
line.
The pet band and cheer team trying to keep the fans involved here at Agassi Field First and ten Tomasowski in the backfield number five painter to his right Tomasowski takes the snap rolls out to his right Looking for a man upfield rolls out of the pocket and a deep ball coming wide open number six That's Brock Flaminio who will
Finally be brought down just outside of the end zone first and goal coming up Flaminio beat his man off the line wide open about 20 yards down the field And the Kingsford flivers are rolling right now on offense under a minute to play in the first corner first and goal coming up for Kingsford Tomasowski in the backfield painter to his right one receiver out to his left.
That's Bradley
Buttazie.
And Tomasowski on the keeper.
He'll be met at the line and brought down.
Number 29, Tanner Hendrickson there on the tackle.
Second and goal ball at the two yard line.
Under 30 seconds to go in this first quarter might get one more playoff.
And it looks like the Kingsford players are heading back to their sideline.
The first quarter will likely end here.
Nice start so far by the Kingsford Flivers in this one.
Second quarter coming up after these messages on mix 93.

Welcome back everyone second quarter of today's game brought to you by Copper Country Ford Kingsford Flivers leads 7-0 at the moment and on the goal line looking for seven more It's gonna be second down at goal ball the two-yard
line
A goal line stand by the Copper Kings would be massive.
Kingsford is due to receive the second half kickoff.
Tomasowski in the shotgun takes the snap and the play is whistled dead before it can begin.
It's going to be a false start called against Kingsford.
Make that second and goal of the two, second and goal of the
seven.
Red zone appearances in today's game brought to you by Gino's restaurant in Hancock.
And a little bit more favorable of a goal line stand opportunity now for the Copper King.
Seven yards to go to the end zone compared to the two they were just facing.
Blake Tomasowski back in the shotgun painter now to his left a receiver out to each side.
Tomasowski.
Takes the snap, quarterback keeper down to the left.
Tomasowski cuts up field, and he will be forced out of balance, but not at.
Before crossing the play to the goal line, touchdown Flippers.
13 to nothing, now the margin.
A flag called on that play, and it's a hold against the Flippers.
So that touchdown coming back.
Second and goal at the two is now turned into second and goal at the 17.
And tough break there for Blake Tomasowski.
He's been fantastic so far today.
About 60 rushing yards, already a touchdown to his name.
Ball placed the 15 yard line holding a spot foul.
11-53 to go in the second quarter.
Tomasowski.
In the shotgun, Painter behind him to his right.
A receiver out on each side.
Tomasowski takes the snap, rolls out to his right looking to throw.
Blake Tomasowski throws it up in the air and then it's caught and brought into the end zone by number six.
Number six, excuse me, Brock Flaminio.
The tight end who caught that big pass play for them to get them to the first and goal, or first and 10 near the goal line, excuse me, on their first drive.
Able to cash in from 15 yards out.
Excellent work there by number six, the tight end.
Also out there to kick the PAT.
Brock Flaminio looking to make it a 14 point lead.
Kick is up and it is good.

Welcome back everyone, second quarter.
Just getting started here on mix 93, Kingsford Flippers lead by 14.
Getting ready to kick the ball back to the Calumet Copper Kings for their third dry line offense in this game.
It's that same number 40 who unfortunately is still not on my roster sheet, kicking the ball downfield and received way in the backfield by Keith Coyfisto.
Coyfisto cutting to his left, turning up field.
Oh, excuse me, that's actually number 20 once again.
Andrew Huntala and a flag on that play around where Huntala was forced out of bounds at the 15 yard line.
Wait to see which team this penalty's on.
Waiting for the head official.
to relay the penalty.
And that's going to be a block in the back called against the Copper Kings, and that'll back them up even further than the unfavorable field position they were starting with.
I believe this ball is going to start up a 10 yard line.
Oh, it's a half the distance penalty.
This ball is starting at the 7 yard line.
A fantastic kick by this mystery number 40.
I'll have to try to ask and see if we can get an updated
number for that player.
Halonen in the backfield.
Hands it off to Trent Anderson.
Anderson up the middle and he'll gain a couple of yards before being brought down.
Second down and long coming up.
And so far this Copper King offense just has not been able to get going.
The front seven in particular for the Kingsford Flivers is held remarkably strong so far.
Number 44, Max Anderson has been involved quite a bit.
One of the Edge rushers for this Fliver team lined up on the left side of the offensive line this time.
Second down and 10 coming up once again.
Halonen hands it off to, oh pull it back, quarterback keeper here for Tyler Halonen.
He'll gain some yards before being brought down.
He'll be close to the spot for the first down waiting to see the official spot.
I thought the ball was handed off the Trent Anderson.
He was immediately bent in the backfield, so Howlin made the correct read to get that ball down the field for the Copper Kings, and it will be a Calumet first down.
Ball now at the 18 yard line.
So still 82 yards to go to the end zone.
10-40 left to go in the second quarter.
Both teams still have all three timeouts in their pocket.
Halonen under the gun Trent Anderson in the backfield Halonen takes the snap hands it off to receiver who cut an end around and that's number 25 Keith Corvisto who turns up field he'll get it up for a first down forced out of bounds around the 30 yard line Nice work there trying to get some variety incorporated into the rushing attack Coach Franti showing he has some tricks up his sleeve there and back to back first downs now for the Copper Kings their first two of the game
Nice running there by Keith Coyvisto.
Conservative while he was in the backfield, waited for his hole to appear.
Found it and cut right through it when he had the opportunity.
Halonen, shotgun once again, Trent Anderson still in the backfield.
Halonen keeps the ball, cuts to his right, quarterback keeper, he'll cross line to scrimmage and get down after gaining about five yards.
Some more urgency
in the Copper King rushing
attack now.
Nice work
there by Tyler Halonen.
That early passing attempt in their second drive.
We'll see if the Copper Kings look to air it out at some point on this drive, but at the moment second down and a long five.
The ball at the Copper King 36 looking to get to the 41 for a first down.
Halledon takes the snap shotgun and a keeper once again he cuts up field.
Tyler Halledon with room to work in the middle of the field.
He crosses midfield and brought down the 45 yard line.
Ball now in fliver territory.
And
again, it was a read option play.
Trent Anderson was met in the backfield.
Halliman makes the great heads-up play to keep the ball for himself, cut the opposite direction, went to the right side of his offensive line, and cut back to his left across the Copper King logo in midfield.
A nice game of about 15 yards there.
First and 10 ball, the 45.
Halliman in the shotgun, Anderson still in the backfield.
Halinit takes the snap.
Oh, pitch out to Coyvisto.
Keith Coyvisto cutting up field.
He'll gain about five yards before being brought down once again.
Another read option play there for Halinit.
Able to draw the defender.
Pitch it out to Keith Coyvisto.
His second or third carry of the game.
He's found some moderate success so far.
And they could suck it down in five, ball right up that 40-yard line, now in flipper territory.
8-15 and counting in the first half.
Allen and shotgun.
Anderson back in the backfield, takes the snap, hands it off to Trent Anderson, who will cut up field once again.
Anderson finds the hole, gains about 10 yards.
First down, copperkicks.
All of a sudden, every rusher for Calumet's starting to find some headroom.
Defensive line starting to show its cracks.
And another first down.
That ball placed right at the 30 yard line.
Nice work there by Trent.
Shotgun once again, number 20, lined up outside.
That's Andrew Huntela.
Halledon takes the snap, rolls out to his left, and a pitch outside to Keith Coyvisto once again.
Coyvisto.
cuts a field, breaks a tackle, Keith Coy-Visto, five-yard line, beats two more tacklers to get to the end zone.
Touchdown, Calumet Copperkings.
And the entire grandstand here at Agassi Field on their feet.
A massive run by Keith Coy-Visto.
Bringing the Copperkings back into this game, six to 14, currently the score.
Copper King send out number 12, Oscar Logos for the PAT.
Kick is up and it is no good, wide right.
And the deficit will remain 8 points, but Keith Coyfisto.
with a massive 30-yard touchdown run, bringing the Copper Kings back within one score, 6-14.

Welcome back everyone, 729 to go in the second quarter of play.
Kingsford Flippers leading the Copper Kings 14-6, but a 30-yard touchdown run by Keith Coyfisto, able to bring the Calumet Copper Kings back within one score.
Getting ready to send the ball back to Kingsford.
A solo returner in the backfield, it's number five, that is Trenton Painter.
Son in his eyes, maybe a difficult kick to receive.
Kickoff is up, and it's a squid kick.
And that will roll towards the boundary line and it rolls out of bounds.
That'll be a kick out of bounce penalty.
And Flivers will start with the ball in favorable field position once again.
As the Imperial March begins from the Calibat Copper Kings Band, as the Fliver offense retakes the field.
Ball be spotted at the 35 yard line for this next sliver drive.
That's where they started their first drive of the game, able to turn that one into a touchdown.
So far, Kingsford has scored both times they've had the ball.
We'll see if they can keep that streak alive now.
And it's number 15, Blake Tomasowski in the backfield, two running backs with him.
Tomasowski hands it off.
And it's number five painter who will gain about a yard and met quickly by the defensive line.
Number 62
for Calumet, that's Liam Dubobian in on the tackle.
Second down coming up.
Seven minutes and counting in this first half.
Copper Kings.
need to show some signs of life on defense, try to get themselves back into this game.
Tomasowski, shotgun, takes the snap, quarterback keeper, he'll cut up to his right, and he is picked up and brought down at the defensive line.
And once again, number 62, Liam Dubobian, making his impact felt, that'll be our Mayo collision of the game.
Brought to you by your collision specialist in Berriga County Mayo collision Third down and seven coming up ball to 38 yard line of Kingsford looking to get to the 45 for a fresh set of downs Tomasowski in the backfield painter to his right Blake Tomasowski takes the snap steps back looking right rolling out to his right Tomasowski looking deep and throws it wide open his man Gets out of bounds.
That's number 10 Cooper Kresge
with his first reception of the game.
Game of about 25 yards on that play.
Ball is going to get spotted at the Calumet 37 yard line.
Some success being found in the passing game.
This was sold largely as a matchup between two run heavy offenses.
And while that's been true, a lot more success in the passing game so far for the Kingsford Flivers.
Two big receptions already for Brock Flaminio.
and the first there for Cooper Kresge.
First down and 10, two backs in the backfield with Tomasowski, two receivers to his left.
Tomasowski takes the snap, hands it off to Painter.
Painter will go up the middle and he is absolutely forced back.
Number 72, Joe Halonen with a big hit and the inside rushing attack being stifled well by the Copper King defensive
line.
If this pattern holds, you have to begin to wonder how much the Kingsford Flivers will begin to pivot to a passing attack.
So far, they've been able to find an open man pretty consistently downfield.
The pass protection has been holding well so far for Tomasowski.
Suck it down an eight.
Blake Tomasowski takes the snap, takes the handoff, rolls out to his right, looking to pass the running back screen, and that player's gonna be brought down and a tackle there in the backfield for the Calumet Copper Kings.
This screen out to Brock Flaminio will be quickly met in the backfield.
And it's number 77 for the Copper Kings, Josh Asala.
Or Josh Aziala, excuse me.
And that'll make a third down and about 15 yards to go.
Ball now at the Copper King 41.
A huge loss of yardage there.
An incomplete pass or a run for little gain would essentially force a punt.
Copper Kings needed here.
Tomasowski shotgun takes the snap rolls out to his right once again Blake Tomasowski pressure coming throws out to his right and that ball is caught in bounds once again Cooper Kresge with a big play But I don't believe he has the yards for the first.
We'll wait on the official spot It's gonna be close folks fourth down and a long one
435 on the clock.
Kresge did get out of bounds.
The clock is stopped.
And a fourth and short coming up.
Flivers are looked like they're going to go for it here.
Not much use in punting from the 29 yard line.
Let's see if they try to get the Copper King line to jump.
Tomasowski in shotgun.
Four receivers out wide.
Painter to his right in the backfield.
Lake Tomasowski.
And a Kingsford player, sorry, a Calumet player does jump.
It's number 56 on the line.
That's Dylan Herkis.
And a costly off-sides penalty there will give the Flivers a fresh set of downs at the 24-yard line.
Everybody on the field knew it immediately.
Just a little bit too antsy trying to get to Tomasowski in the backfield to stop that fourth down.
Kingsford Flippers.
A stroke of luck there on fourth and short, giving them the fresh set of downs for free.
Tomasowski in the shotgun, takes the snap, quarterback keeper up the middle.
Hill gain about three yards before being brought down.
The defensive line still putting in good work.
Number
22, Sawyer Berg coming in.
from the defensive backfield to help with that tackle.
Berg the five foot eight
senior.
Didn't see a ton of him against Nagani, but making an impact there with that tackle.
Sucking down an eight ball of a Calumet 22 yard line.
Flivers looking to extend their 14 to six lead.
Tomasowski in the backfield and the play blown dead.
I believe this is gonna be a timeout called by the Kingsford Flippers First time out of the game Timeouts in this one brought to you by Harder's party store

High school football game of the week here on MIX 93.
3-52 to go in the first half.
Kingsford Flippers leading the Calumet Copper Kings by a score of 14-6.
Flippers with the ball at the Calumet 22 yard line with a second down and eight coming up.
Flippers have been great on offense so far.
Just got a free conversion on fourth down after a defensive offside penalty looking to continue this drive into the Copper King Red Zone.
Lake Tomaszowski in the backfield takes the snap rolls out to his left and it's a bubble screen out to one of his receivers.
That's number nine.
Dom Fredrickson who will be brought down after losing a few yards third down in the long 12 coming up here for the
Kingsford
Flivers.
The receiver screen passes.
I've seen I think three or four of them so far on this game from Kingsford.
None of them have really bared much fruit.
And a loss of five yards credited to the Flivers on that play.
The deep ball has been pretty successful.
Passing for 15 yards or more.
I'm pretty sure Tom Masowski is three for four on those pass attempts.
The screens he's completed at a decent clip.
It's just not much room up feel so far for any Fliver who catches those balls.
Tomasowski in the backfield takes the snap rolls out to his right short field to his right pressure coming deep ball to the opposite side of the field jumped up and caught by number eight that's true Tomasowski his little brother touchdown flivers
And a PAT coming now for the Flivers looking to make it 21-6.
Number six, Brock Flaminio out there ready for the PAT.
Kick is up and it is good.
Makes the lead a clean 15.
Under three minutes to go here at Agassi Field.
Copper Kings playing from behind and they need to find some action on offense.
We'll be back to see how they perform in 30 seconds here on MIX 93.

Calumet Copper King's trailing by 15 due to receive this kickoff as the
first half
winds down.
Two returners in the backfield for Calumet.
Kick is up another good kick by their kickoff specialist.
Caught here by 25.
Keith Coyvistow had that touchdown run earlier but he is met and brought down by a pile of fliver defenders right at the Calumet Copper King 20 yard line.
Two minutes 47 on the clock for this drive.
Copper King still have all three of
their timeouts.
And this drive will begin at the Copper King 21.
Kingsford Flivers showing they are living up to that number two UPSSA ranking so far.
A dominant performance in this game.
Nagani last week was their first
Big ticket opponent of the season.
They won that matchup 21 to 16.
They have Calumet this week, Menominee two weeks from now.
And players on both sides of the field huddled up, waiting for the drive to begin.
An impressive touchdown pass there.
His second of the game for Blake Tomasowski.
I believe to his little brother Drew.
Number eight, the 10th grade wide receiver.
93
yards the distance on that drive.
Oh,
excuse me.
Calumet with a 93 yard drive earlier.
Tyler Halonen in the backfield.
Oskar Lokis or Keith Coyvistow in the backfield.
And Coyvistow gets the handoff.
He'll cut up to the right side of the field.
He'll get back to the line to skirmish.
Maybe a little bit more.
Second down and nine coming up.
Kelly and that looking for some signs of life on the offensive side of the ball.
Two minutes, 20 to go in this first half.
All three timeouts still in coach Josh Franti's pocket.
Halledon and Coyfisto in the backfield.
Tyler Halledon takes the snap rolls out to his left quarterback keeper and he'll cut back up field but met and brought down by number 21 Jake Lockhart.
Flivers defense holding strong near the line a gain of about four.
Third down and five coming up.
Ball placed the 27-yard line looking to get to the 32.
Oh, excuse me coach, Franti did call a timeout after that kickoff earlier, so two timeouts apiece for these teams.
Franti not likely to call another one during this drive yet.
Don't want to leave the flippers any chance with time on the clock here.
Halledin cuts up midfield.
Tyler Halledin has room to work.
And he'll get over the 40-yard line near the midfield before finally being brought down.
A gain of about 22 there for Tyler Halladon.
And a timeout called now by the Calumet Copper Kings.
A minute 23 to go on this clock.
Copper Kings may be finding their rhythm here on offense.
Kingsford Flivers Looking to make sure they don't give up any last second points here Kingsford due to receive the kickoff to begin the second half After Calumet went three and out in their first drive this game A lot on the line in this drive Ball spotted at the Calumet 48 yard line for this first down
One timeout left for coach Josh Franti and the Copper Kings, two left for the Flivers.
First and ten coming up.
Tyler Hallinan in the backfield.
25, Keith Coyfisto lined up behind, three receivers bunch set to his right.
Hallinan takes the snap, steps back looking to pass, rolls out to his left and he'll be brought down and sacked.
Combined sack there for number 44, Max Anderson and number five, Trenton Painter.
Excuse me, number six, Brock Flaminio, not Painter.
But a big sack there, a loss of about eight yards.
We'll back the Copper Kings back up further into their territory.
A minute left on the clock and ticking.
Coach Franti not using that last time out.
Quick back to the line.
Halibut, shotgun.
Takes a snap.
Hands it off the Trent Anderson.
Oh, Callen the keeper.
Callen cuts back up field.
He'll get across midfield.
Tackled inbound for the 44 yard line.
Copper King's feet keep going.
44.4 left on the clock.
Copper King's trailing 6 to 21.
Need some points before the halftime break.
And there is the final timeout call by coach Josh Franti.
41.7 left on the clock after the timeout call.
The clock only resumes once the referees have officially spotted the ball, so not too much time gone in that stop.
But now, with no way to stop the clock, you need to find some receptions that get to the out-of-bounds markers, run to the outside, or a breakaway chance up the middle, if you're the Calumet Copper Kings.
Trilling by 15 as well, so they'll likely want to go for a two-point conversion here.
Ball spotted at the Fliver 44 yard line third down and two coming up After a big sack Allen and able to gain about 18 yards back Shotgun formation Allen in the backfield Trent Anderson number 36 lined up behind him Two receivers to his left one to his right Allen and steps back to pass rolls out to his right looking up field
Halonen avoiding the pressure.
Halonen rolls out to his right trying to get to the first down marker and he's brought down in the backfield.
And I believe that's going to be a horse collar tackle called against the flipper defender in on the tackle.
Not entirely sure who it was.
And it looks like it's going to be number nine, Dom Fredrickson.
That's likely going to be a personal foul against number nine.
for the Kingsford Flippers, moving the chains for the Copper Kings, waiting on the official call.
It is a personal foul on the defense.
Chains will move.
Clock will stop, more importantly, 30.1 seconds on the clock for the Copper Kings.
Calumet trailing by 15, looking to shorten that lead before halftime.
Ball placed at the 31-yard line after the personal foul.
Howlinen in the back field, Anderson behind.
Howlinen steps back looking left.
Howlinen rifles the ball over the middle of the field.
That ball's caught by Hodgella.
Touchdown, Calumet Copper Kings.
Exactly what the doctor ordered for the Calumet Copper Kings.
as they find their way back on the board.
Make it 12-21, two-point conversion likely coming up here for Calumet.
And it's Andrew Huntela, number 20.
The senior wide receiver and defensive back who cuts up the middle of the field, a crossing route about 20 yards deep.
Open over the middle of the field.
Hallen and Saut, excuse me, Oscar Locust, P-A-T, a one-point kick, electing to go for that instead.
Kick is up and good.
Copper King's trail by eight with 24 seconds left on the clock.
But Andrew Huntela cashing in from 31 yards out.
The flags waving in the Agassi Field student section.
Fans still on their feet here in Calumet.
Now a one-score game.
We'll see if the Flivers elect to play with any urgency.
24 seconds left here.
Two timeouts left for them in this first half.
They could elect to go for a quick drive and try to find some more points before our halftime break.
And Allen and getting ready to send this ball back to the Kingsford Flivers.
Squib kick.
Feel that cleanly by one of the Fliver defenders in the front of the return crew.
And I believe that's the number 30 Dawson Hood, who successfully recovered the ball.
21 seconds to go in this first half.
In eight point deficit, Flivers may look to extend it before the halftime break.
Ball placed at the Kingsford 47 yard line for this first and ten.
Tomasowski in the backfield, they're running back to his left.
Tomasowski takes the snap, runs it right up the middle.
Blake Tomasowski, he'll gain maybe a yard before being brought down.
And no timeout coming from the sideline.
It looks like they will elect to end the first half with that play.
Through two quarters.
Kingsford Flippers lead the Calumet Copper Kings at home the score 21 to 13.
Halftime show coming up in a few moments here on MIX 93.

It's been a pretty fantastic first start for the Kingsford Flippers 21 to 13 currently their lead over the hometown Calumet Copper Kings and Three full offensive drives for the Flippers in this game all three resulting in touchdowns two of them through the air Quarterback Blake Tomasowski's looked fantastic so far.
He also has a rushing touchdown accredited to his name So so far he's been involved in all three touchdowns first start of the game.
He sorry
The Flivers first drive of the game after a 3-and-out by the Calumet Copper Kings, ended with an 11-yard touchdown rush by Tomasowski.
Afterwards, another touchdown coming in from the Calumet Copper Kings, Keith Coivisto cashing in from 30 yards out, missing a PAT, making it a 7-to-6 game.
After that, two touchdowns by the Kingsford Flivers.
First, a catch by number 6 for Kingsford.
I've lost my roster here.
Here we go.
Brock Flaminio able to cash in from 15 yards out, thanks to the pass by Tomasowski.
And of course, the third touchdown scored.
I said it was by Blake's younger brother, excuse me, Drew Tomasowski.
It was actually number nine, Dom Fredrickson, who made that 28 yard touchdown catch that Tomasowski threw across his body to get to the far left corner of the end zone.
The final scoring of the first half was...
A touchdown reception by number 20, Andrew Hunteluff for the Calumet Copper Kings off of a pass from 16, Tyler Halonen.
Halonen, to his credit, has largely had a fantastic game as the single-collar for the Copper Kings.
It's just those first couple drives of the game, they weren't able to get the ball going, and the Flivers were able to jump out to an early lead, but at least for the second quarter, it looks like the Copper Kings have been able to hang with the Flivers in this one.
it's now time for this week in high school football brought to you by shop kelly of insurance we'll start with the west pack and the games and large announcement coming from the conference the west iron county y cons have elected to cancel the remainder of their season they went 0 and 4 in their first four games losing to bannett sneak last week by a score of 6 to 32 so the y cons will be wrapping up their season i believe injury concerns was the main reason cited by west iron county schools as the reason for the cancellation of the season so
I'd like to say, we appreciate the West Iron County Lycans playing the games they did, and we hope to see them back on the field next season, hopefully ready to go.
Looking around the rest of the West Pack, this week we have Ishteming Westwood coming off of their win against Houghton, heading to Gladstone.
Ishteming Westwood won that game against Houghton by a score of 38-26.
Gladstone coming off a loss to Barker-Verharis by a score of 14-32.
And a bit of an interesting game coming up for Barker-Verharis, who remains undefeated.
They're going to have Palamo Westphalia coming in from the lower peninsula.
It's a school located just northwest of Lansing, and they play actually in the Central Michigan Athletic Conference.
These two teams played for the first time ever last season, where Barkover Harris lost 49 to nothing.
So this Palamo Westphalia team, a fantastic...
school.
They were actually in the Division 7 state semifinals last season where they lost to the nominee by a score of 28 to 32.
So a big matchup for both of those teams happening at Barker for Harris this week and I believe simultaneously to this game.
Gwynn is heading to Luntz
Wynn is currently 1-3, they lost to Hancock by a score of 42-0 last week, while Lawrence is coming off of their second win of the season, defeating Iron Mountain, or sorry, their second loss of the season, losing to Iron Mountain by a final score of 22-42.
Iron Mountain and Manistique are both 2-2 so far this season, they'll be playing in Manistique this week, Manistique coming off their second win of the season, defeating the West Iron County Wicons, as we mentioned earlier by a score of 32-6, and Houghton is heading to the undefeated
Recent Division 7 state champions in Menominee, who's coming off of a 22-8 win against the Calumet Copper Kings who we're covering here today.
And finally, 3-1 Hancock is heading to Nagani.
who's currently 2-in-2.
Hancock coming off of a three-game win streak their first time winning back-to-back games since I believe the 2019 high school football season.
So head coach Brennan LaClaire seems to be turning things around quickly over at Condon Field and Hancock.
Nagani, of course, has played two very tough games the past two weeks.
Take you on Calumet and...
the Kingsford Flivers who are here visiting at Agassi Field tonight.
So, frankly, they're a lot better than that two-in-two record suggests.
We'll have to see if the Hancock Bulldogs can put up a fight against the Nagani Miners in Nagani later tonight.
Taking a look also at the Great Lakes West, the 8-on-8 division here in the Western UP.
Felch North Dickinson and Crystal Falls Forest Park are both 3-1.
Felch North Dickinson is coming off their Calumet Copper Island Academy victory 46-12, the final score of that one, while Crystal Falls Forest Park lost to the ishpoming hematites by a score of 22-28 last week.
Bessemer is heading to Ishfeming.
Bessemer currently 1-3 as the Hematites look to extend their 3-game winning streak after their opening loss to Lake Lindenhubble at Sherman Field with Curly Stadium, the home of the Michigan Tech Huskies.
Bessemer coming off of a 66-42 win at Stevenson last week.
Ironwood is 1-3 and they'll be heading to Windless Municing for a match-up tonight.
Ironwood lost at Onsenagen by a score of 8-14 last week, while Municing lost to Powers North Central by a score of 8-59.
And Antonagin is 1-3, and they're going to be heading to Norway for a tough game against the Knights.
Norway looking to bounce back in that game after a 32-60 loss at Lake Lindenhubble a week ago as of tomorrow.
Also, I mentioned it earlier in the broadcast, but tomorrow afternoon on Mix 93, a 1-30 kickoff, Powers North Central is coming into town to face off against the undefeated Lake Lindenhubble Lakes at Warner Field and Lake Linden.
Another big matchup for the Lakes as they look to remain undefeated, pushing
for a 5-0 record.
I believe 5-0 their best start since their flawless 2016 season.
So looking to see if the late can continue to build on a positive momentum they've been going with these past few weeks.
Michigan Tech Huskies do not have a game this week.
This is their bye week.
They'll be facing off at Roosevelt on October 3rd at 1 o'clock.
Here on MIX 93, Josh Iletello will be traveling down to Arlington Heights, Illinois to call that game.
And next week, as we talk about the teams that we're seeing today, Calumet will be taking on Houghton on October 2nd.
That's a seven o'clock kickoff.
And at the exact same time, Kingsford is going to be heading to Hancock to face off against the Bulldogs.
We're gonna take a quick break and then we'll be right back with Pepsi Trivia brought to you by Pepsi Cola of Houghton after these messages here on VIX 93.

Welcome back everybody, halftime show continuing here on MIX93 and it's time for Pepsi Trivia brought to you by Pepsi Cola of Houghton.
In the past few weeks, I've been trying to stick to more team overall record and...
individual game-based statistics.
I'm trying to zoom in a little bit more this week, and I'm going to be looking for an answer that's an individual player this time around.
The question for you in this week's Pepsi Shrivia, in last season's regular season finale at Lawns, the Calumet Copper Kings defeated the Purple Hornets by a final score of 42-8.
What player led the game in total rushing, finishing with 106 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown?
If you think you know the answer, call into our... our...
Excuse me, Mix 93 Studio line at 906-483-4054.

About four minutes left on the halftime timer here at Agassi Field in Calumet.
Sun beginning to set.
A nice dark blue tone taking over the sky for the moment.
The light's warming up as we get ready for the second half of action.
Kingsford Flivers still leading this game by a score of 21 to 13.
They're also due to receive kickoff at the start of the second half.
So a lot of things going right so far for Kingsford.
We'll see if they can hold on to their lead.
We're gonna take a quick break.
We'll be right back with the rest of our halftime show in the second half kickoff.

Another big match-up here.
on our civic media stations.
And this week, the Kingsford Flivers looking to remain undefeated over the Calumet Copper Kings, currently leading the game by a score of 21 to 13.
At about a minute and a half, they'll be due to receive the kickoff to begin our second half as well.
So a fantastic start to this team, to this game, excuse me, for the visiting Kingsford team.
Copper Kings looking to bounce back after losing their first game of the year to a fantastic Menominee team.
headed out to the nominee and lost 8 to 22 in their first loss of the season.
Obviously no shame in losing to the Division 7 state champion last year, I believe on a win streak of over 20 games now.
So big congrats to the nominee as well for how impressive of a performance they've been putting on over the past couple of seasons.
Players stretching out and getting ready to begin the second half will be right back here for the kickoff in 30 seconds here on MIX 93.

Welcome
back everybody third quarter
of this game brought to you by Saiyan's Auto Sales and Z-Bart getting ready to go here in just a few moments time.
Before the game gets started, I do want to announce our Pepsi trivia question one last time.
Again, if you think you know the answer to this question, call into our station phone hotline at 906-483-4054.
If you think you know the answer, if you're correct, we'll announce your name on air and you can win a 12 pack of Pepsi that you can pick up from our station in Hancock.
The question once again was in last season's regular season finale at Launce.
The Calumet Copper Kings defeated the Launce Purple Hornets by a final score of 42-8.
What player led the game in rushing yards finishing with 106 yards and a rushing touchdown?
If you think you know the answer, call in once again the number 9064834054.
I'll give you a bit of a hint.
Their longest rush of that game was 38 yards.
They also had a 27-yard rushing touchdown in that matchup to end the regular season for Calumet last year.
Players still stretching out on the field.
Calumet Copper Kings getting ready to get going as the Kingsford Flivers are back on their sideline looking like they're getting ready to begin this third quarter in just a moment.
Again, this game absolutely crucial for both of these teams.
Playoffs have become the expectation for both of these schools over the past few years.
Both regular appearances in their respective post-seasons.
I believe Kingsford Division 5, Calumet Division 6, so not often they run into each other in the post-season.
but both fighting to maintain as strong of a record and as many playoff points as possible so they can secure home field advantage in those hopeful eventual postseason games.
Kingsford still undefeated at 4-0.
They've been flawless so far.
They still need to finish out this game, which I'm sure the Copper Kings will not go away easily.
A couple other games left on their schedule in this season and of course that big matchup against Menominee in a few weeks time will likely be their biggest test of the regular season.
The Copper Kings have gotten through the majority of their gauntlet now.
They still have a couple other big games left on their schedule.
They're playing Houghton next week, and we'll have to see if they can face off.
And when their second game of the year against the Gremlins, Houghton put up a really good fight against them in week one.
The final score of that one, 14-7 here at Agassi Field.
This matchup going to be down at Alumni Field in Houghton.
So possibly one to keep your eye on.
Gremlins looking to bounce back after a rough loss to Ishmael Westwood last week.
36 to 23, the final score in that one.
Gremlins are playing right now as well.
They're taking on Menominee, so another tough game on their schedule.
We'll see how they can fair against last year's Division 7 state champions.
Flivers have retaken the field, their kickoff crew getting ready in the backfield.
Meanwhile, the Copper Kings are huddling up, getting ready to send their kickoff team out there as well.
It's going to be number five.
That's Trenton Painter in the backfield getting ready to receive the kick from the Copper Kings.
Tyler Hallinan the quarterback for Calumet.
Also the kicker and kickoff specialist for the team.
Hallinan places the ball, steps back behind his return team and second half ready to get going.
Kickoff is underway and 24 more minutes of football underway here in Calumet.
That ball's going to roll out of bounds.
It'll be another kick out of bounds penalty.
Flivers will start once again in pretty favorable field position here at Agassi Field.
No turnovers yet in this game.
Both teams have been careful with the ball.
They know how much damage.
The other team can do on offense with a single possession.
Copper Kings have elected to punt, I believe, three times so far in this game.
All three of the punts have been pretty good.
They've backed the Flivers up, but so far, Kingsford has not been slowed down by that change in field position.
They've scored three touchdowns on three of their full-time drives.
They got them all back for a fourth drive with about 20 seconds left on the clock in the first half.
Didn't really go anywhere, and they elected to just run the clock out.
Tomasowski in the backfield hands it off to his running back.
I believe that's oh, that's number 21 That's Jake Lockhart with his first carry of the game out of the backfield for the flippers.
He'll gain about four Lockhart dealing with the hamstring injury suffered a couple weeks ago Glad to see him out there on the offensive side of the ball.
He's been out playing on defense He's made a couple tackles for the flippers out there But trying to get more involved now on the opposite side of the ball Tomasowski in the backfield
Blake takes the snap steps back looking right Completed the Kresge on the right-hand side who cuts up field he'll have enough for the first down and maybe a little bit more and Copper Kings react to late the ball is out, but I believe that play is gonna be whistled dead and actually the ball was caught originally by Cooper Kresge and I believe
he
fumbled and Brock Flaminio recovered the ball So it'll be a first down and ten ball now at the Fliver 48 yard line
And a gain of about 10 yards on that pass attempt that Kingsford manages to hold on to after a potential fumble.
Ball now on the near hash, closest to the press box.
Tomasowski in the back field with two backs.
Tomasowski takes the snap, hands it off to Painter.
Painter cuts to his left.
Painter using his speed to get up field.
He'll gain about six yards and a swarm of Copper King defenders finally brings him down.
Nice work
there.
by Trenton Painter.
It's gonna be a long two yards to go until
this first now
looking to get to the 43 yard line of Calumet.
42 yard line, excuse me.
Tomasowski in the backfield, same formation.
Tomasowski takes the snap, hands it off.
And this time it's to number 20
for
Kingsford.
That's Dylan Lucas out of the backfield.
Oh, excuse me.
Number 30, Austin Hood.
He'll gain about a yard and a third and
one coming up.
The Flivers have done a good job of distributing the rock among a lot of their players in the backfield.
Calumet has done the same.
Allen has probably had the most success for the Copper King so far, as I would say Painter has done pretty well in the running game for the Flivers.
Tomasowski takes the snap, hands it off to Lockhart, Jake.
Lockhart using his size to get over the defensive line for Calumet, and he'll finally be brought down around the 33-yard line, picking up about 10 yards.
And you can see here not the same speed quite as Painter, but Lockhart just using his size to his advantage.
I don't have an official height for him on my depth chart, but definitely the biggest of the running backs that we've seen in the backfield for the Flivers, and I believe the Copper King so far in this game.
Still a two running back set for the Flivers.
Tomasowski with the ball, hands it off the painter, and there's a flag on the play before the snap.
It's going to be a false start going against Kingsford.
Let's back this play up five yards.
It'll be first and 15 coming up from the Copper King 39 yard line.
Nine minutes 23 to go in this third quarter.
Flippers lead by eight with the ball in Copper King territory.
Auto breaks first and 15 coming up.
And it's going to be Tomasowski in the backfield with Painter.
Tomasowski takes the snap steps back looking left looking to throw another deep ball coming and that ball is caught once again Number nine Dom Fredrickson.
He'll be forced out of bounds inside the ten yard line And I think you could just call it bigger man diplomacy In the defensive backfield so far the Kingsford flivers
using their size out of the
receivers and tight ends to their advantage
Frankly, Tomasowski's just been chucking it up to his receivers and they've just been beating their man in 50-50 coverage.
Copper King to the knee to sharpen up their coverage and man-to-man down the field if they want to stay in this game.
First and goal coming up ball at the eight yard line.
Tomasowski in the backfield, painter to his right.
Tomasowski takes the snap, keeper rolls out to his right.
Has some room finally met in the backfield trying to cut back upfield and a helmet to helmet hit there Looked to be unintentional and not at too much speed hoping both players involved are okay Tomasowski will lose about two yards will be second in goal from the 10 Tomasowski did what he could to keep that play alive, but the blocks just needed to hold
a little bit longer for him
But flippers continue rolling here in Calumet
Copper King's student section still buzzing.
Trying to will their team to keep it close with this flipper squad visiting in from Kingsford.
Tomasowski takes the snap rolls to his left looking for the end zone.
Tomasowski rolls out pressure coming.
Tomasowski has thrown away over the middle of the field and that ball is incomplete.
He was looking for number six Brock Flaminio once again over the middle of the field.
But he was brought down by his ankle as he threw.
Not able to get the ball all the way to his man in the back of the end zone.
Originally rolled out to his left.
Didn't see his man open in the backfield.
Originally he was looking for Dom Fredrickson.
So he cut back to his right.
The line collapsed behind him.
He knew it.
And he had to make a quick decision.
Tried to get the ball off.
Just not quite in time.
Third down at goal coming up.
Ball at the nine yard line.
Tomasowski in the backfield with two running backs.
One of them painter.
Tomasowski takes the snap rolls out to his left looking for his man pressure coming in and a ball is caught and I believe spit out nice coverage there on defense number 15 for the Copper Kings That's Owen Peterson With a big hit that forced the ball out and I believe a hold is gonna be called against the flippers backing them up further Still waiting for the official call from the chief referee here
It's a hold called against Kingsford that penalty is declined So it's gonna be a fourth down and goal from the ten yard line Or not nine yard line, excuse me And trouble now here for the Kingsford flippers Do you elect to kick a field goal here and make it a two possession lead?
Or are you looking for the end zone?
It looks like they're gonna make some substitutions.
I think this is gonna be their kicking team
and a field goal coming up here for the Flivers.
It'll be a 27 yard attempt.
Brock Flaminio out there to kick the field goal, kick is up and it is good right down the middle once again.
Brock Flaminio has had no question about any
of his kicks so far,
3-for-3 on PATs, and makes his first field goal of the game as well.
Flivers lead by 11, Copper King's due to get the ball back in 30 seconds here on MIX 93.

Welcome back everybody.
During that last drive by the Kingsford Clippers, we had a Pepsi Trivia winner.
Ralph Johnson of Calumet knew the player that led in rushing in the Cal and the Calumet Copper Kings regular season finale last year was senior running back Ben Anderson.
He's now since graduated from the Copper Kings, but he finished with 106 total rushing yards in that game.
Also Keith Coifisto had a 70 yard touchdown run in that one.
So a lot of running back involvement has been a common theme over the years for the Copper Kings.
Kickoff coming.
Copper Kings will receive the ball.
It's going to be Huntala in the backfield once again.
Oh no, Keith Coivisto!
With room to work!
Keith Coivisto cuts through, breaks a couple tackles, and he'll be brought down at the 25 yard line.
Another great kick by whoever this number 40 is for the Kingsford Flivers.
He's been fantastic as a kickoff specialist.
I have not seen him on the field otherwise.
I'll need to ask around a press box during the next intermission to see if we can figure that out.
But again, congrats to Ralph Johnson of Calumet.
Who's won a 12 pack of Pepsi, you can pick that up.
I believe anytime in the next 14 days from our MIX 93 studios in Hancock.
And a new drive beginning here for the Calumet Copper Kings trailing by 11.
There's seven minutes 50 left on the clock in the third quarter.
Tyler Halonen in the backfield.
Takes the snap, hands it off.
And that's an up the middle, I believe, to Keith Coyvistow.
Oh, it's actually
number 36, Trent
Anderson, who will gain about three yards,
second down at seven coming
up.
Ball now at the 29 yard line for the Calumet Copper Kings.
Halonen.
In shotgun, a running back behind him, three receivers and a bunch set to his left.
Howlin' it, quarterback keeper after the read option.
Shakes a couple tackles, tries to keep bouncing off men, but eventually not able to find any headroom brought down there by a fliver defender.
I believe that was number 15, Blake Tomasowski.
We've seen
some two-way
threats on both sides of the ball so far on this one.
Tom Basowski a big impact player on defense for the Flippers.
And it's going to be a third down and four.
The ball at the Copper King 32 yard line looking to get to the 36.
Howlin' it.
Shotgun.
Takes the snap.
Keeper rolls out to his right.
Had the pitch option, he keeps it himself.
Tyler Howlin' it!
breaks free, one man to beat.
Halided down the sideline to the 30, the 20, the 10, the five, and he's forced out of bounds, but that before reaching the end zone.
Touchdown Calumet Copper Kings.
A 68 yard touchdown breakaway run for the senior quarterback.
And all of a sudden, the Copper Kings looking to make this a three-point game.
I would expect a two-point conversion coming.
Really no reason to kick a single PAT here.
Howlin' it out there, looks like they're going for two.
The fight's on erupting from the student section.
The fans here at Agassi Field back in this one, ready to root for their hometown T.

Everybody has 68 yard touchdown run from number 16 for Calumet Tyler Halonen with his fourth touchdown of the game so far two on the ground two in the air oh Apologies his second touchdown game.
I'm getting my stats confused between quarterbacks
68
yard touchdown exactly what the Copper Kings needed to get themselves back in this game a one possession lead now for the Flivers as they get ready to get the ball back
Kickoff comes.
Halonen puts a little bit more air under it, but it's still gonna bounce out of bounds.
Another kick out of bounds penalty coming up for the Flivers.
They'll begin this drive, I believe, at their 40.
And Tyler Halonen getting the entirety of Agassi Field on their feet.
The 68 yard touchdown run.
Copper Kings have found their life back on offense here.
About 18 and a half minutes left in regulation.
A five point lead for Kingsford.
The score 24 to 19 and they will begin this drive at their own 35 yard line after the kick out of bounds.
Tomasowski in the shotgun.
Painter to his right in the backfield.
Blake Tomasowski takes the snap hands off the painter.
Painter using his speed gets out to the right and he'll be met and brought down.
It's number 36 for
the Copper Kings.
That's Trent Anderson in on this
tackle.
A gain of about three yards second down and a long
six coming up.
That
late autumn chill started to take over here in Calumet.
The Sun is now fully set the lights
Our only source Second down and six coming up ball the 38 yard line Looking to get to the 45 Allen and takes the sorry Tomasowski takes the snap hands it off the painter and painter will break through the defensive line and gain just enough for a first out Move the chains ball now at the fliver 46 yard line Kingsford has shown no signs of slowing down
on offense.
Penalties hurt them bad and a goal line stand chance on their last drive forced them to take a 27-yard field goal.
Besides that, on drives where they really had a committed push on offense, three for three on touchdowns.
Another first down coming up.
Tomasowski in the backfield, painter to his right.
A receiver out on each side.
Tomasowski takes the snap, takes the handoff, keeper cuts up to his right.
Tomasowski will gain about four yards before being brought down.
Number
72 for the Copper
Kings, Joe Halonen,
the last defender there who finally got him down.
Brock Flaminio has been in it full back a lot of the time for
the Flippers in the back field with Tomasowski and Painter.
Listed as a tight end on my depth chart.
We've seen him run routes like a tight end.
We've seen him block like a tight end.
But for the moment, taking some reps at fullback.
He does so again on this play.
Tomasowski, shotgun.
Takes the snap, hands it off to Painter.
Painter is brought down in the backfield for a loss of a couple yards.
Make it third and nine coming up.
And it's Keith Coy-Visto in on the tackle for loss.
About four minutes ago in this third quarter.
Third and eight coming up.
The ball placed the 48 yard line of the
Flippers
trying to get to the Calumet 44 for a fresh set of downs.
Tomasowski lined up in shotgun once again.
Painter to his left.
Tomasowski takes the snap steps back looking to pass over the middle of the field and that ball is caught.
And that's Fredrickson who will gain about 15 yards before being brought down, moving the chains.
Dom Fredrickson with another big completion.
Had that second
touchdown pass of Tomasowski's
earlier, here moves the chains on a big
third and eight
at midfield.
A five point deficit for the Copper Kings.
trailing 19 to 24, need to stop Kingsford or at least hold them to a field goal to keep this a one possession game.
Tomasowski in the backfield, painter to his right.
Flaminio in motion.
Tomasowski keeps it and he's brought down.
A leg tackle there by number 56.
That's
Dylan Herkis.
And that'll be officially recorded as a tackle for loss.
It'll make it second down and 11.
Ball back at the Copper King 35.
Two minutes 50 left in this third quarter.
11
yards to a fresh set of downs looking to get to the 29 yard line of Calumet.
Tomasowski in the backfield, painter to his left.
Steps back looking left to pass Tomasowski deep ball once again looking for Looking for his man.
It's dropped in complete a nice pass break up there Intended receiver was Cooper Kresge And I believe it's Ryan
Eskola
with a big pass break up on second down third and long coming up once again 11 yards to a fresh set of downs
See what coach Mark Navarra has cooking up for the flippers on his sideline.
Fans still packing the stands here at Agassi Field.
They're getting another good one after a week away at Menominee.
Tomasowski in the backfield takes the snap stepping back looking left to pass Tomasowski.
to the first down marker that ball is caught by Fredrickson.
Fredrickson turns up field and he'll be finally brought down at the 18 yard line.
Tom Fredrickson is showing up in a big way for the Flivers on this drive.
Two massive third and long conversions for
the wide receiver.
Excellent work from the junior in the passing game.
Back in the Copper King Red Zone.
Kingsford
Flivers won
six this time.
Tomasowski, shotgun, two running backs in the backfield.
Takes the snap, hands it off, and that's Jake Lockhart back in once again.
He'll gain a couple of yards before being brought down.
It seems like the Flivers are very intentionally limiting Lockhart's carries
in this
game Trying to ease his recovery, but let him still get some reps in on the
field
Second down
eight
ball the 16-yard line Tomasowski in the backfield Believe it's hood behind it Tomasowski takes the ball rolls out to his right looking to pass balls complete
and that'll be Flaminio who gets the complete pass and he will have enough for a first down first and goal for the Flippers at the six yard line.
Brock Flaminio and Dom Fredersen have been all over this Copper King backfield.
About five completions apiece for them I believe.
First and goal coming up ball at the Copper King six yard line.
Tomasowski in the backfield.
It's number 30 Dawson Hood behind him and whistle blows the play dead a timeout call by the Calumet Copper Kings.
A minute and one second left on the clock in the third quarter.
Coach Franti calls his team back to the sidelines.
He wants to make sure this goal line stand holds.
Last time they were in this situation.
Just a few minutes ago the flivers were held out of the end zone a false start penalty and a hold back them up They had to settle for a 27-yard field goal try on fourth down And now with a first and goal ball the six yard line a similar situation for the Copper Kings can the defense hold strong once again a Crucial difference in this one the deficits currently five points
If the Copper Kings allow a field goal, it's an eight-point game.
That's a touchdown and a two-point conversion.
A touchdown makes it at least 11.
First and goal coming up.
Tomasowski in the backfield.
Dawson Hood behind him.
Tomasowski takes the snap, hands it off to Hood.
Hood will break a tackle, cut to his right, and he'll be brought down just short of the end zone.
Second down and goal at about the one yard line Dawson hood freshman running back for the Flippers Doing good work He's been the second or third running back out of the backfield for them in
this game depending on how you classified Jake
Lockhart Not a ton of carries But he has made significant contributions for the Flippers on offense
About 30 seconds left in this third quarter, one more play before the pause.
Tomasowski, shotgun.
Takes the snap, hands it off to Lockhart, Jake Lockhart right up the middle, and Flivers single touchdown, official single touchdown.
Touchdown, Jake Lockhart.
From two yards out, the Flivers able to cash in.
Extra point attempt coming up for the Flivers looking to make it 31 to 19.
A 12 point deficit possibly looming for the Copper Kings.
Fluminio kick his sky up in the air and that is no good wide left.
He got under that ball a little bit more than I think Flaminio himself expected.
The ball got skied up almost directly in the air and apparently wide left according to the official proof.
13.7 seconds left in this third quarter.
We'll stick through the kickoff here before the end of the third quarter.
A tough spot now for the Calumet Copper Kings.
11 points the deficit trailing 30 to 19.
Getting the ball back they need a touchdown.
Kickoff specialist number 40 back out on the field for the Flivers.
Two returners in the backfield, it's Huntala and Keith Coyvisto once again.
Here comes the kickoff.
Sent out, it'll be Coyvisto on the return.
Keith Coyvisto takes the catch and he'll cut up field, looking to just run past the defenders and he's met quickly and brought down around the 20 yard line of Calumet.
Coyvisto has not had a ton of room to work on kick returns.
We've seen a lot of kick return heroics these past couple weeks.
On WMPL last week, we saw a kickoff return for a touchdown by the Houghton Gremlins, and back-to-back kickoff return touchdowns in Lake Linden last week as the lakes took on the Norway Knights.
But so far, special teams for defense units have been holding strong
in this one.
About eight seconds to go in this third quarter, only one play likely for the Copper Kings before the fourth quarter begins.
Halonen in the backfield, two running backs behind him.
Allen, it takes the snap and hands it off.
That's Keith Coifisto out of the backfield.
He'll gain about 25 yards and get to the 40 yard line.
A nice productive rush there.
Oh, I believe I have the number wrong there actually.
It's number 22 Sawyer Berg.
I
believe
it's first rushing attempt of the night and it's a big one, so a nice huge gain for the Copper Kings as the third quarter ends.
They'll begin the fourth quarter with a first and 10 on their own 38 yard line.
12 minutes left in regulation.
We'll be right back to see how regulation wraps up here on Nix93.

Welcome back everybody first down in 10 Tyler Halonen quarterback keeper rolls out to his left and he'll gain about four yards before being brought down Copper Kings wanted to get the ball rolling here quickly not even a full minute recess to end the third quarter Trying to bring some heat on the offensive side and
startle the flipper
defense
into
making a mistake Copper Kings trailing right now the score 19 to 30 Tyler Halonen in the backfield
Keith Coyvisto joining him Alan it takes the snap looking for the pitch pitches it out And Coyvisto will not be able to get back to the line to scrimmage probably lost
the yard or so
on that outside pitch Brought down by number nine Dom Fredrickson who's been a big impact player on offense as a wide receiver Third down and a long four coming up ball placed the 44 yard line Trying to get to the 48 for a fresh set of downs
Clock continues to run.
10 minutes 55 left in this fourth quarter.
See what Coach Franti has for us out of this Copper King offense.
Halinin takes the snap.
In the backfield, takes the handoff and he's brought down in the backfield.
Three players in on the sack.
Jake Lockhart.
The big player there able to stifle the Copper King quarterback and it's fourth down and long coming up.
And the Copper Kings.
Another unfriendly spot they may choose to punt here.
We'll see.
10 minutes 15 left.
Time ticking away.
Are they willing to punt this ball back?
For the moment, it looks like no.
Allen and lined up as if he's ready to take the snap at quarterback.
Keith Coyvesto in the backfield.
Bunch set to his right.
Allen in.
What can he get a player to jump by the looks of it?
Will they snap the law?
No.
Timeout called by Josh Fransi, hoping a fliver would jump and make it a fourth and manageable, but it does not happen.
One timeout left for the Copper Kings.
9 minutes 51 to go in this one.
Calumet trails by 11.
Both teams huddle up on their respective sidelines.
Coach Mark Navarra of the Flivers.
Discussing with his team how to slow down this copper king attack.
The past few drives, they've been pretty effective.
A big touchdown run.
Tyler Hallen had broke off for 68 yards in a similar spot on the field on the previous run.
Can the Copper Kings replicate that success?
Fourth down and six, followed the Copper King 42.
Higher ground by Stevie Wonder.
It's played by the Copper Kings band.
Allen and Shotgun going for it here.
And the Copper King jumped off the line.
Carter Salada, the culprit.
Out there is a wide receiver in that bunch set.
Make it fourth down at 11.
Ball now at the 36 yard line.
37, excuse me.
Nine minutes 51 to go.
Copper King's given the extra five yards may now elect to punt.
Flivers seem convinced.
Number 15 Blake Tomasowski in the backfield for the return.
And Hallinan does show punt.
Takes the snap.
Oh, a fake punt!
Ball is thrown over the middle of the field and deflected, brought down.
And it's Brock Flaminio and Dom Fredrickson, who combine for the pass break up.
An aggressive call there by coach Josh Franti on fourth and 11, hoping to catch the Flippers off guard.
But they do not fall for it.
Great coverage by the Flipper defense.
And a turnover on downs.
Kingsford starts this drive on the Calumet 37 yard line.
That's been our only turnover of the game so far, so we'll call that our portage tire and auto repair turnover of the game Turnover on downs First intent
Kingsford with the ball in Copper King territory looking to extend their 11-point lead.
Tomasowski in the backfield, takes the snap, hands it off to Jake Lockhart.
Lockhart up the middle, breaks a tackle, has players dragging by his feet, and he'll easily get to the first town marker.
And there's that big, brutish runner, Jake Lockhart.
No wonder the Fliver offense has been so productive.
As long as a flag on the play back at the line of scrimmage, it's going to be a false start called against Kingsford.
So despite that great running by number 21, the Flivers will be backed up five yards.
The pet band getting loud here at Agassi Field.
Ball now at the 42 yard line of the Copper Kings.
Flivers with possession first at 15 coming up.
Flivers looking to put this game away, keep their perfect record and boost it up to 5-0.
Copper Kings trying to avoid dropping to 3-2.
Tomasowski in the backfield, takes the snap, hands it off, and that's to the full back and tight end.
Brock Flaminio, who will be met at the line of scrimmage and brought down, actually lost a couple of yards by the looks of it.
Nice work there again by the Copper Kings defensive line.
Eight minutes 48 and counting left in this fourth quarter.
Second down and 15 coming up.
Copper Kings assuming they can get a stop on this set of downs if they get the ball back probably will have about six minutes 40 on the clock.
Tomasowski in shotgun takes the snap hands it off to shake Lockhart once again Lockhart cuts at the middle and he'll get back to the original first down marker make it third down at about 10 coming up Flivers happy to kill clock here as much as possible.
I would not expect them to air it out despite the long distance to go for this first down I Don't see a reason mark Navarra would do anything but trust his rushing offense
A two possession deficit for the Copper Kings trailing 19 to 30.
Tomasowski, shotgun once again, painter two is left.
And two Copper Kings jump and that'll be enough to move the distance up five yards.
And Calumet has been fooled by the hard count a few times now in this game.
Two different linemen jumped for Calumet, third down and six coming up instead.
Best case scenario there for the Flivers.
Still need a few more yards for this first down.
I believe the hard count has gotten them on four separate occasions over the course of this game.
A couple have been crucial conversions on third or fourth down.
Third and six coming up, ball to Copper King 33.
Tom Masowski, shotgun.
One receiver out to each side.
Copper King line, still antsy.
Don't want to get fooled by the hard count again.
Takes the snap, hands it off to Lockhart.
Lockhart at the middle, has a hole and he'll get through and he'll be close to the first down.
I believe he's going to have it and he will.
Ball down at the 31 yard line.
Nice job by Jake Lockhart.
I don't think he saw a single carry in the first half.
May have not even been on the field on the offensive side.
And now he's heading back to the sidelines a bit slow on that right foot.
Hopefully he's okay.
Don't want to see him re-aggravate that injury.
6 minutes 40 and counting left in this fourth quarter.
First and 10 ball at the Copper King 26 yard line.
Tomasowski takes the snap, hands it off to Hood.
Hood will gain about four yards before being finally brought down.
Nice work there by number 30 Dawson Hood.
Freshman running back has still been putting in work.
About six minutes left in this one, half of the quarter remaining.
Still an 11-point deficit.
The Copper Kings need possession to start cutting into this lead.
A turnover here would be massive.
Two running backs with Tomasowski in the backfield.
It's Brock Flaminio and Trenton Painter.
Tomasowski takes the snap, hands it off to Painter.
Painter will cut up field, has a hole and he'll gain the first down.
And consistently the Flivers have been gaining just enough yards to reset the down marker doing a fantastic job of killing clock in this game.
Copper King's already down to just one time out.
And you could feel the energy draining from the Calumet defense in real time.
You need to see a big hit, you need to force a fumble.
Five minutes 20 left.
Ball at the Copper King 11 yard line.
Tomasowski with Flaminio and Painter in the backfield.
Tomasowski takes the snap, hands it off to Painter.
Painter cuts up Field and he'll get to about the five yard line before being brought down.
Second and goal coming up.
And Trenton Painter, he's had the bulk of the carries today.
yet to have a touchdown to his name.
He hasn't quite had the opportunity to really break out using his speed.
We see them launch out of formation rather quickly, but I don't believe he's found a rush for more than 15 yards yet in this game.
Tomasaski leads the offense back out, second and goal ball to five yard line.
Flaminio and Painter still in the backfield.
Tomasowski takes the snap hands it off the painter once again Trenton painter up the middle and he's close and Will he be brought down?
Yes, he will looks like he stopped at around the two Third and goal coming up four minutes five seconds left in regulation Precious seconds ticking away coach Josh Franti only has one timeout left.
He wants to keep it in his pocket
A fliver touchdown would essentially end this game.
Jake Lockhart, now the tail back behind Tomasowski.
Flaminio out to block.
Tomasowski takes the snap, hands it off to Jake Lockhart.
Lockhart up the middle and he'll be stopped once again.
Fourth and goal coming up.
And finally seeing that goal line stand.
And now the timeout called by the by the flivers actually an interesting choice there by coach Martin Navarra 325 left on the clock Copper Kings trail by 11 Flivers knocking on the door of yet another touchdown
Blake Tomasowski has shined so far in this game but touchdown on the ground for him two through the air Jake Lockhart punched a touchdown in earlier on one of his limited carries He's been a much bigger deal since about halfway through the third quarter Offense retakes the field fourth down and goal ball placed at the two-yard line
It's Tomasowski, Flaminio, and Lockhart in the backfield.
The receiver out to each side.
Tomasowski.
Blake takes the snap, rolls out to his right, looking to pass.
Looking for his man.
That ball is caught in the end zone.
Touchdown.
It's number 87 Chase Jungles.
His first reception of the day for a touchdown from two yards out.
PAT coming up looking to put this game on ice and make it an 18 point lead.
Flaminio.
Flaminio's kick is up, and it is good.
Make him three for four on extra points so far in this game, along with the 27-yard field goal.
And with 3-19 to go, the Copper Kings trail at home by 18.
Kickoff coming up in 30 seconds here on MIX 93.

Calumet, Copper Kings trailing by 18.
Currently the score 19 to 37 with about three and a half minutes to go in the fourth quarter.
The Copper King faithful still in the stands wanting to see this one to completion.
Hoping for some last minute magic from the home team.
Kingsford flivers.
Four and 0 so far this season.
Well on their way to making it five and though.
Kickoff coming.
Our mystery kicker number 40 sends the ball up and it's gonna be Keith Coyfisto on the return.
Oh, sorry Andrew Huntelai able to make the catch and he'll cut up field and brought down at about the 25 yard line.
Oh No, I was initially right.
Apologies that was Keith Coyfisto who was able to field the ball on the far side of the field Bring it up to about the 25 and the Copper Kings need to fly up the field trailing by three possessions 313 on the clock
No timeouts.
Tyler Halonen.
Let's see what miracle he has in him.
First and 10 coming up, ball place at the 26 yard line.
Halonen in the shotgun, Keith Coyvisto behind.
Takes a snap.
Halonen hands it off to Coyvisto, who will be met and brought down.
It's big number 72.
Pressed into Clark in on the tackle and Odea lost a yard second down at 11 coming up Two minutes 57 to go and counting in this game Copper Kings looking for something good to take into their practice this week by the looks of it One last solid drive.
They're taking their time in this one Snap breaks Haliden has relayed the play to his teammates
And it looks like it's gonna be number 22 at Sawyer Berg in the backfield this time for the Copper Kings.
Howlinen hands it off, Berg met in the backfield and brought down by his right leg.
And number 56, Ben Johnson able to get in the backfield for a tackle for loss.
Two minutes 15 left in the game now.
Again, Copper Kings out of timeouts trailing by 18.
Seems like they're just running a drive here trying to get their two-minute offense going.
Coach Franti trying to settle his players in.
He knows they've still got a lot of regular season football ahead of them.
Halonen, shotgun, Berg in the backfield.
Tyler Halonen takes the snap.
Oh, it's Quivisto in the backfield now and brought down behind the line of scrimmage.
It may be a different quarterback now in for the Calumet Copper Kings.
But Tyler Halonen now back out on the field getting ready.
I believe to pump this one back to the Flivers About a minute left in this game and they will send out the punting unit forced down at 12 ball to Calumet 23 yard line Nobody in the backfield to return for the Flivers now Tomasowski will back up Halonen Takes the snap
gets to kick off cleanly.
Another nice punt.
This ball will take a nice roll for the Copper Kings.
Tomasowski picks up the ball and just slides down at the 39 yard line.
Flivers know they have this game on ice.
They'll send out the offense in victory formation to kneel this one out.
And the Kingsford Flivers will remain perfect.
5-0 in their regular season.
Beats wins against Nagani and Calumet in back-to-back weeks here in weeks 4 and 5.
Copper Kings dropped a three and two on the season back-to-back losses against Menominee and now Kingsford 42.7 on the clock victory formation Tomasowski out there with the rest of his roster excuse me Tomasowski takes the snap and the knee I Think they'll need to do this one more time to officially end the game
A little bit more than 40 seconds on the clock, and they'll stay out there getting ready to do just that.
And the line stays put.
Tomasowski under center, takes the snap, takes the knee, and that'll do it here at Agassi Field.
Your final score, Kingsford Flivers, 37, hometown Calumet Copper Kings 19.

Welcome

Postgame show brought to you by QAnon overhead door.
For those of you just joining us, the Calumet Copper Kings fall at home to the visiting Kingsford Flippers.
The final score, Flippers 37, Copper Kings 19.
A tough result overall for Calumet who now drops to three and two on their season.
Well, Kingsford stays perfect at five and oh on the year.
Coming off of big wins against Agani and now the Copper Kings.
We'll have to see how Calumet looks to bounce back in the coming weeks.
They take on Houghton next week while the Kingsford Flivers will head to Condonfield and Hancock.
Again, I don't believe there's any relation between myself and the namesake of Condonfield, but I'm gonna keep enjoying that as long as I can.
And we're going to start with the pivotal play of the game brought to you by Copper Country Ford.
For me, it's going to be the final touchdown in the first half by the Flivers.
The 28-yard touchdown pass from Tomasowski to number nine, Dom Fredrickson.
Frankly, Tomasowski able to bounce around in the pocket through off his back shoulder to the opposite side of the field and found his man number nine, the junior receiver, Dom Fredrickson in the end zone for a big touchdown to take a multi-possession lead.
going into the half.

Welcome back everybody, post-game show continuing here on MIX 93.
It's time for our unsung hero of the game brought to you by Martin Custom and Collision.
And for me, it seems pretty clear cut that number five, Trinton Painter, is going to be our unsung hero of the game.
Took the bulk of the carries in the backfield.
for the Kingsford Flivers did not reach the end zone at any point and I don't think he ever really had a huge breakaway run but over the course of the game he just continued pounding the rock gaining solid yards for the Flivers down the field.
I think he probably finished with about 25 carries and I would assume that he was under 100 yards but again got just enough on all of these carries to keep the chains moving for the Flivers down the field.
There weren't really any
Consistent breakaway big plays.
The furthest touchdown was that 28-yarder that I mentioned earlier as our pivotal play of the game.
So just consistently moving down the field in small chunks, ticking time away.
Like Coach Navarra mentioned in the pre-game show interview, it was a time of possession battle that the Kingsford Flivers were able to hold on to thoroughly in large part two to the senior running back, sorry, junior running back, number five in Trenton Painter.
Our Coca-Cola of Handcock Player, the game is coming up after these messages on Mix 93.
This is Coke Zero Sugar.
Could I be the best Coke ever?
Try and taste with your ears.

Irresistibly tasty.
Zero sugar.
Crisp, refreshing, and ice cold.
Is Coke Zero Sugar the best Coke ever?
Try and decide.
Welcome back everyone.
It is time for our Coca-Cola of Hancock player of the game.
I think today there's no real question.
It has to go to the senior quarterback from the Kingsford Flivers, number 15, Blake Tomaszowski.
He had an incredible game all day long.
He was active both in the rushing and passing attack, finishing the game with four total touchdowns.
The first score of the game was an 11-yard rush by Tomaszowski in the next
20 or so minutes of play, two passing touchdowns, a 15 yard touchdown to number six, Brock Flaminio along with that 28 yard touchdown reception by Dom Fredrickson.
After a bit of a quieter second half, he was playing more conservatively.
The Flippers goal was mainly to keep the Copper Kings away from the ball as much as possible.
But at the end of that game, he was able to put the final finishing touch on his performance with a two yard touchdown to number 87, Chase Jungles on his first reception of the game.
That's going to do it for us here at Agassi Field.
Copper Kings fall to the Kingsford Flippers.

Thank you.

We'll be back to see how the Flivers continue this drive in 30 seconds on VIX 93.

Superior service towing and recovery M26 and Houghton just past Copper Country Ford are the pros.
They serve the four county area and beyond featuring 24 hours seven days a week service with a fleet of tow trucks.
Superior service towing and recovery M26 Houghton has a roadside emergency services also.

Welcome back everyone.

If you know the answer and you have it correct, when you call us, we'll announce your name on there and you can pick up a 12 pack of Pepsi free of charge at our Mix 93 Studios in Hancock.
