Good evening football fans from Long Year Field and I know it is boys high school football time again as the Lake Lindenhubble Lakes coming to town to take on the I know the Red Devils.

I'm Rod Helverson alongside Joel Rimkis and Jason Juno from the globe is up here to join us during the pregame.

And guys, it could be a nice night for football.

There was raining in Bezmer.

you can kind of feel it in the air here but so far so it's still dry

yeah I think we got some rain yesterday if I'm there last night and the field might have a little wetness to it so that ball might be a little hard to hold on to but uh I don't know we'll see what happens but should be a hopefully a real good game tonight uh we're coming off a big victory last week

yeah they're going to be tested a little differently tonight with Lakeland and Lakeland is what I think and Jason can

Second me on this, if you want to make a different point of view, I think Lakeland is probably considered one of the top teams in the upper peninsula.

Yeah, I'm not going to argue with that one.

It's been one of the best programs for home in the years.

And this year, they're right back up to that.

They've got one of the most experienced teams in the conference, the Axford Triplets.

They really got to think of Brady, that's the quarterback.

Brady, yes.

And he's a strong running back.

Yeah, so they come in here.

I think it's the conference favorite in a good conference.

I mean, look at what Norway's been doing.

Crystal Falls.

Again, it's got to be the toughest conference in probably the state and football.

It's just Norway, Crystal Falls, North Central, Lakeland and they're just they're loaded those top four teams and then it drops down a little bit.

We'll see.

We'll see how iron matches up.

They look really good last week against.

Florence team that we're not sure how good they were

yeah Florence definitely didn't look good last week they had 14 players they went down the eighth they left in the third quarter right and I understand why they you know this players were hurt and stuff and they decided to call it but

I would impress at scoring 52 points, no matter if it's a good team or a bad team you're playing.

It doesn't matter.

52 points is a nice score for a high school team.

The line opened up the holes and you got Justin and Blake Peterson running through those openings and they're fast.

They made some nice runs.

Hopefully they can keep that up tonight.

Jason, we were looking at the roster for Ironwood.

one senior, you know, what, four juniors, five juniors, and a bunch of softwares.

So that's a young team.

It is for sure.

That's why it was nice for Ironwood to get that game last week and get away and get some confidence.

Like we talked about during that tough conference, they're going to have some tough games, so nice to start out that way.

For Lake Lyndon tonight, you mentioned Brady Axford, and then there's two brothers, Tyler and Lucas, I think are the wide receivers.

Those three have probably been playing catch in the backyard since they were three years old and now they're seniors in high school.

So I'm sure they can just, they probably don't even have a play call.

They just say, just go out about 20 yards and cut in.

Yeah.

Front of

There's no place called in.

Like you said, when you play together that long, any team that plays together that long, we saw Hurley basketball last year with the guys.

They played together for years, and it just shows when you start that.

If you still have a good young program, and those kids really get into it, and they buy into what the coach is showing, it's good.

But

when you have

your two brothers as your wide receivers, you

don't see that very often in football.

They probably fight a lot.

So yeah, we'll see and ironwood defeated Florence 52 to 15 like we said in three quarters of football last week and Lake Lyndon Norway Norway defeated will give it class night 50 to nothing will give it because you have to score a touchdown that then I'll score 86 to nothing now And it doesn't get any easier for them next week.

They play Crystal Falls and that's another juggernaut in this conference So we'll see

what that brings around

Well, you brought up a good point this morning when you were talking about, I mean, you got eight-man football injuries mean a lot, especially to guys who are starters.

I mean, that means a lot.

It's hard to replace those, especially with a younger team underneath them.

You got to have those starting people in there.

Right, and for Rogibik, you can say they're missing a starter, but they are missing probably a de-starter, probably one of the top players in the U of P in Jaden Barrett, just based on what I saw last year and the year before that, you know.

and it's just he's the type of guy that and I think what's helping the other teams right now is they can really rush the quarterback right now.

They can nothing away from the junior line-up but he doesn't have the speed of Barrett.

You rush your quarterback like Barrett too much.

He can sidestep it and get to the outside and that's in eight man football you get outside but chances are he's gone.

They don't have that this year and

I watched part of that game last night, and we did the game last Friday in Wakefield, and the line is new for Wakefield.

They lost their line from last year.

It's a new offense line.

The lineup doesn't have a lot of time to make a decision on the passes.

We saw that last year in Crystal Falls, right?

Crystal Falls lost their line, and they were 1-8 last year.

They had all new linemen, so it's tough.

And then, you know, they're missing a couple of other starters.

Hopefully those guys will come back.

Unfortunately for Golgivik, they had North Central, Norway and

Crystal Falls'

first

three games.

Yeah, it was a bad timing for that for sure.

And I talked to a League of Legends coach, Gervais, before the season, and asked him who to favorite player.

And he said, it's tough to pick because an eight-player football, you could get two studs in and you're a state title contender.

That's how different the eight-player game is.

I think we were pretty spot on with some of the predictions, really.

Lake London can be pretty good.

Christopher Falls, I think Norway maybe is a little bit of a surprise with all the losses they had.

Yeah.

And like you just said, if you get one or two studs, I think that's what Jaden Verrett would offer, the miners.

But Hurley looked good and put up 22 points, helped them, helped Phillips the sixth.

Yeah, the defense was what's doing it for him, I think, because they played really well.

Yeah, for the next two weeks, I think.

That's kind of the reason they went to a player to find some opponents to drive all over creation for.

And then one of the teams that canceled is the new team.

One of the teams that slotted into their conference, they should have kept playing full.

I mean, there's some teams out there that are dropping their program.

So that means there's other teams out there that are looking for opponents.

Yeah, and you mentioned the Hurley thing, right?

They're still looking, but I know this afternoon they

Wow, it seems like the more it goes, the harder it's going to get.

Maybe they'll get through this weekend and see who's available next week.

But I mean, even if they don't get one next week, can they possibly get one
