All right, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of every age.
Hello and welcome to Friday Night Football, presented by Y101 WPY Radio.
I am Willie Dupont, and I'm joined tonight by my co-host Cole Kinn, who we'll get to momentarily.
Tonight, we start the season at home where the Ansonog and Ewan Trout Creek and Waters Meek Ladiators play host to the Crystal Falls Forest Park Trojans, and this is here set by the Federal Credit Union Pre-Game Show.
Last season was tough for both of these teams, winning a combined four games.
The Gladiators won a thriller against these Trojans last year by a score of 38-36.
They actually trailed that game 30-6 before an electrifying 45-yard TD pass from Jack Nelson to Brodie Majurin sparked an impressive comeback win.
Unfortunately, Jack graduated, but Brodie is back along with Jack's younger brother Kyle.
Actually, I didn't see Kyle in there.
Maybe I lied about that.
Both the younger Nelson was a sophomore and Majurin, who was a junior, figured to be part of the Gladiator attack this season.
Also returning this year is junior running back Brodie Babula, who scored twice last year against Crystal Falls.
The gladiators went three and six last year and went 0-1-4 at home.
Coach Preston Manos, who is making his debut as head coach tonight, will look to improve on those records this season.
The Trojans went 1-8 last year, but don't feel bad for them at all.
They want to stay title in 2024 going 12-1.
Last year was a season of injuries.
Senior Vic Giuliani, who will start a quarterback tonight, he didn't play a single snap.
Coach Brian Forbie expects Giuliani to lead this team this year.
His younger brother, John, may also be a factor.
He is 6'5", 2'10", and a freshman.
He'll be making his first appearance in the high school football game this evening.
Senior wide receiver Dax Hukie is expected to be a big target for the Trojan passing attack this evening.
Hukie played in only two games last year.
He's hurt week two and never returned.
He played well as a sophomore before his junior year develops.
All right, Cole, when he gets you in a second here, what do you expect from these gladiators this season?
And who are your players to watch?
To start, I just expect to see some growing pains, maybe not.
per players per se, but maybe coaching or situational, but I think Preston will get better at that.
And players, obviously, you know, Brody Babula, I'm excited to see him and my brother Clayton as well.
Nico, excited to see him, he missed sometime last year, so.
And they're starting to hit upperclassmen now too, so that is.
You had to bring up your brother.
I know he didn't get a lot of opportunities last year, but good athlete.
He's quick.
I'd like to see him throw the ball to him a few times.
Not a ton this game, but give him like a couple of pass attempts, right?
Something
a little quick.
And you mentioned Nico Amos, he was hurt last year, and they were going to run him a lot last year, I figure, but it just didn't happen.
And I think they've got enough athletes.
And we talked to Brody's dad was up here in gym.
I'd like to see Brody get the ball between 15 and 20 times.
If he gets the ball 30 times, I'm saying that's too much.
Yeah, I mean you got to spread it out between him and I think buzzle as well Brayden.
He's a tremendous athlete as well.
So I gotta have those guys care as
well.
You mentioned Brayden, he's gonna start tonight at quarterback and I think he's another one really good athlete and I don't think they need him to be great.
They just need him to be productive and to stay healthy.
Yeah, they've got enough athletes around him.
We did talk to the coaches a little bit.
I'll mention what Brian for Bree said for Crystal and I know you didn't believe him.
He said they're gonna look to throw the ball.
I
did not
believe him.
Body language said you didn't buy that for a second, so you see if he's lying or not.
But they have a connection.
It's the two brothers.
It's Vic and his younger brother, John, so you never know.
And their other guy is at Hookey, and he expects to hand the ball to him a lot.
That's Dax Hookey.
He's a senior, 5'11", 175, another decent size kid.
Yeah, team with size, something that maybe Antonage doesn't have as much of.
I think it's
going to come down to the line, too.
So, Johnson and Gladius, they are going to bring back.
Actually, all three of them are starting linemen are back.
That is good.
Ryan Holmstrom is going to be a fullback, instead of a lineman, to start the season.
So, I'm interested to see, they're going to run a lot of eyes, what Preston told me.
Firstly, he told me, what do you feel about tonight?
He says, playoff is our goal this season.
But right now, we're trying to be Crystal Falls.
I like it.
And he talked about that I formation.
They're going back to some old school football.
I used to play the video games all the time and I ran I nonstop.
So I like it.
You know, the basic plays, but basic plays work still too.
I do like rocking that fullback because you get that offensive lineman type size.
But he has the speed to run out there.
Nice one,
guys.
I think the other thing is you can throw like hand them all off to him.
Not a lot, but given the ball like three or four times a game just to keep the defense honest.
Here's a good runner.
They're about to do the national anthem, so it's going to throw us off just a little bit.
So why don't we do a, give me a two and a break.
We'll be back in two.

Hello folks, welcome back.
We're at the Alzado Bruce Crosby starting lineup.
We'll try to run down these real quick.
We got a game that's about to start.
Forest Park is going to start a quarterback.
Nick Giuliani, he's the senior wearing number 12.
Fullback Noah Star wears number 10.
He's also a senior.
Dax Hookie, another senior, a lot of seniors on this senior.
He wears number 13.
At center is Clay Williams, he wears number 40.
Devin Koga will be the left guard, another senior.
Tight end John Giuliani.
He's our freshman.
He's a big kid wearing number 42.
Eli Brosnowsky, number 65.
They switched his honesty before the game.
And here's enough when Nick the Hobbit plays right guard for the gladiators are going to start.
Number one is Brody Bobula running back.
Number three is Braden Buzzal, the 10th grader.
He played a little bit last year before getting hurt.
He's a great athlete.
Number 19 right guard is BJ Anderson.
Starting at tight end is 28.
That's Cooper Moylan and fullback is Ryan Holmes from the senior wearing number 33.
Cam Loghe is a junior tight end wearing number 35.
Left guard Connor Guzik another junior number 52.
Number 62 is center Logan Beck and we're ready.
And before I forget,
I have a surprise shout out to Cole Kinn, whose birthday is this evening.
He's turning 19.
That is true.
Your grandmother says happy birthday.
So there you go, 19.
Yeah,
thank you.
I turned 19 back in the 90s, if I remember right.
Now here we go.
I'm not going to make a comment.
Yeah, last century actually.
And we got kicking off here.
It's going to be the gladiators.
They're going to be going from our right to our left.
Nice sunny day out here with 72 when I drove through town, away from work.
Is that Nico out there?
He's got number 15 kicking off.
No, we probably should shut that door whenever I grab it.
Game is about to begin here.
Is it ready on the left?
Ready on the right?
And Nico's ready to kick.
There's the opening whistle.
And it's a swiver right down the middle picked up by the Trojans.
That's number 20.
He gets a short gain up to the 45.
And number 20 is Isaac Williams, the freshman.
And the season has started.
left on the clock, of course, no score.
The Trojans will take over to be first in 10 there inside their own 45-yard line called the 44.
I'm assuming Vic Giuliani will start off at quarterback.
He wears number 12.
He's in the backfield by himself.
He has triple wide receivers left, one wide receiver right.
And here comes the first play from the scrimmage.
Giuliani back to pass.
He's a lefty.
He's looking down the right-hand side got a man pretty good coverage, but not good enough.
That's a cop.
I number 13.
That's Dax Huckey.
What a catch that was.
Is that Brody Bobula was out there with a little bit of size though?
Yeah, I thought he had a shot to maybe break it up, but just outside.
Yeah, he's pretty good position, but Giuliani's big.
Yeah.
Or that Huckey, rather, that's who caught that one.
And what do they have him listed at DAX hooky is listed at 511 175 Brody stocky, but he is not tall and we got an I formation that is a give left hand side That's the hooky and he's got the corner and he's got a touchdown So 14 yard touchdown run for the Trojans And that was DAX hooky number 13 scoring and that makes it six to nothing quick strike by the Trojans 32 seconds into this game and they've got a lead
They didn't come right out on trips though.
They
threw it out.
Coach for Bree was not lying.
They came out and threw the ball.
Got an eye formation.
Kookie is the tail back.
Oh, he's stuck, but he's going to fall in anyway.
And the two-point conversion is good for Kookie.
That's a really nice stick by Cooper.
I believe that's a good one.
You're going to get that credit to Cooper Moylan.
Yeah, I think that's
a good one.
All right, folks, it is 8-0, 11-28 to go.
Glad ears will receive the ensuing kickoff.
Let's come back in 30 seconds.

Welcome back, WPY101 coverage of high school football.
Trojans lead the gladiators here in Antonaga and 8-0.
Cole, you pointed out we're in the visitors section of the
cheering
which is a little bit different.
That's okay.
We'll announce it fair and square anyway.
They did, that did count.
Huki's going to kick off.
They'd be the tail back who scored their eight points.
Our deep returners back here is number one.
That's Brody Babula.
One never knows what a team's gonna do when I kick off these days.
A lot of squivers in eight man football.
And this kick is going to be a squibber left-hand side.
It hits one of the linemen.
He's got to get that ball.
Oh, no.
Number eight is Rody Majur.
And he's got to get that ball.
He doesn't.
It's recovered by the Trojans.
And Crystal is going to take over.
The ball is that.
It's called the 32-yard line of Hansen-Augen.
And again, folks, this is Hansen-Augen, UNN Waters meet.
But we're just going to call Hansen-Augen for sure.
But they're all gladators.
Coach Manos can't be overly thrilled with that.
That's one, hopefully you learn from that on the first kick.
From my ball,
you can grab that ball.
I formation.
Give it to Huki, left hand side.
He's got room.
He's to the 20.
He's to the 15 where he's knocked down.
Who's on the tackle there?
Is that Baboula?
I can't see that far.
I can see him walking, but I cannot see him.
That's number eight, wasn't it?
Yeah.
That was Majurin on the tackle.
What a nice run by Dax Huki, and they've got another first down.
Spot that one right at the 15 yard line 8-0 Trojan 11-13 here to go opening quarter and they look to score again.
I was just going to say the Gladys is a good possession there, but they never got a possession.
So hopefully they get a stop.
I formation again.
Giuliani under center.
It's a play action pass looking left hand side.
It's a nice play.
Oh, a nice tackle too.
That was caught by number 42.
Who is Giuliani?
That's the younger brother and a good stick over there by the Gladys.
Yeah, they seem to really be trying to go to their left.
Do
you see a pattern there?
I'm going to credit that.
Was that major on that tackle there?
That was a nice
one.
Trying to make amends.
He was somewhat responsible for that on-site kick working.
This is a color wing formation.
Nobody in the backfield now motion to the backfield.
It's going to be a pitch right hand side.
He's got the edge.
That's hooky.
Oh nice hit there.
It's a fumble.
Braboula knocked him over.
I don't think so.
And that's uh, I'm gonna guess holding on now a nice hit there by Brody.
That wasn't
really
good stick way to get low.
That's absolutely and caused a fumble.
What is this penalty going to be?
It gives me the reminder to give a shout out to the referees have my list here somewhere.
It's gonna be on the Trojans.
I didn't see the call.
I just saw him point.
Referee is Joe Strong, the doctor.
John Woodla's out there somewhere past Peska.
Dave Whitey White and Eugene Fisher.
That's a holding call on the Trojans.
They're going to bring it back 10 yards from the spot, which is going to spot the ball at about the 16 yard line.
Going to be second and 11.
Maybe 12 even.
Good chance to get a stop here for the Gladiators.
Not
easy.
This is a big play here.
Get them to third down and long and try to get off the field.
You're only trailing by that one score.
All right, this is eye formation, Juliana under center.
Huki is the tail back.
Give us the hand left hand side.
A lot of penetration by the gladiators.
He still gets the corner.
And he's going to have a decent gain of about maybe five.
He's third down.
Before he's wrestled out of bounds, hard to see who actually forced him out.
Looks like a good gang tackle by the gladiators on that one.
We're at their ten yard line.
It's going to be third down and
I don't know what you call, I can't see the farsight number, this is difficult.
I can see him over there for
Trojans taking their time with this play.
We have nine and a half left to go, Trojans lead eight to nothing, nine and a half in the first quarter.
They don't have a first quarter sponsor to forget about yet.
Hopefully we figure that out later.
Do we have some libraries coming at some point?
We got a man in motion to give us to the fullback.
Oh, a nice hit there.
Very little it's gonna be 4th down number 28 is that moiling on the tackle
in the middle there
Tackle by Cooper is gonna be 4th down.
Got low got got the leg stopped and I've seen
a couple good hits early in this game But they're gonna need the ball they're gonna have to move the ball to give their guys a little bit of rest This is a 4th down big play in this game scoreboard says 4th and 1 that's a long one We're gonna go high formation
Hookie is the tail back, number 10 at fullback is star.
Give us the hookie.
He's up the middle.
That's close.
I believe he's got it.
He's across the five.
Trojans think they have it.
So does Cole.
Let's see what Dr. Joe says.
And he says that's a Trojans first down.
It'll be first and goal.
Oh, not by much either.
No.
Just inside the five yard line.
Clock will keep ticking.
We're approaching eight and a half minutes left of this opening quarter.
Give me a stop here, gladiators.
And that was actually a pretty nice hit there as well.
There was a stout up the middle so far.
Where you need to be.
Outside is where things can get a little
shaky.
I formation.
Hookie's a deep-act star at full.
Giuliani's got it.
Give the left hand is to Hookie and he's hit near the goal line.
Another nice hit, but he gained about four.
It's going to be second down in goal.
Too much in that situation.
You've got to come away with, especially here, you know, you got to get them backwards.
Knock them out of that rhythm a little
bit.
If you had negative play, big time here, you would have tackled you with some penetration and ruin this play somehow.
There is not a lot of room that's within a yard.
They're going to call it second and goal from the one, but that's, here we go, a short one.
Eye formation again.
Hookie's a deep back.
Giuliani under center.
Hookie in motion.
Giuliani's going to keep up these bubbles.
If that's glad to your ball, give me that bubble.
Yes,
I think.
If
the Gladys get out there pumped up, I don't know what to give credit for.
I think it was
Ryan Holmstrom.
We're going to give credit to Ryan Holmstrom.
In the middle.
What did you say?
We need a tackle to come through.
You're going to love it when you tell the team what you want and they do it.
So that's going to be a turnover.
Why don't we just hang around here?
It'd be first in 10 gladiators, 747.
Big stop there.
Holmstrom with a bubble recovery.
Long deal ahead now,
though.
Here, just.
Give me like two or three first downs, give you guys a rest.
I see Cooper Mullin running out the play there.
We expect a glad they were, I was told they're going to go I formation, maybe one wide receiver.
That's kind of their, going to look a lot like what the Trojans just did except for the lack of the wide receiver.
And they do, they have an I formation.
They have a wide receiver out to the right hand side.
Deep back is going to be Bubula.
It's Buzzo under center.
They gave us a home strum.
Fights off one tackler, but doesn't get much.
Good game tackle by the Trojans.
That's going to be a gain of very little if anything.
Defender just went for the ball and Ryan had to go with it or potentially lose it.
Oh, and that's actually a loss there.
And that's a big thing, too, is you don't want to fumble the ball off the four yard line either.
It's very bad.
They're going to call it a loss of one.
They'll bring up second down 11.
Trojans lead at 8-0 early going in this game.
This is a big spot for the Gladys.
Just giving a couple first downs here would be big.
I'd be shocked if they don't go to Babula on this play.
Buzzo under center.
Holmes from that full back.
Babula is the deep tail in the eye formation.
Give his to Babula.
He squirts to the right hand side, gets a few before he's gang tackled outside the five.
They're going to give him about three yards, maybe four there.
Call four.
Call four.
It's going to bring up, in theory, a third and seven.
We'll see what the scoreboard says.
Six, so they're getting five on that.
Five on that.
Nice play.
And I almost run the same player.
I don't know enough about their offense yet to know what play I want yet.
We haven't seen a lot yet.
Only a couple plays used.
I would like to see Babu end up with this ball some way somehow though.
We'll see.
They've got Moylanen coming towards us as a split.
Outside ends on the right hand side.
I formation.
Buzzo under center.
Give is to the fullback.
That's Holmstrom.
Pile is moving.
It's not going to move enough.
I think you're right there.
They're going to spot him somewhere around the 10.
Or how about right at the 10?
That's going to bring up fourth down and four.
I think they go punt here.
I
think
you have to.
Yeah.
It's interesting to see what coaches do, though, in 8-man.
There's no perfect way to do it.
Those coaches, some might go for it here, you know?
I have seen it.
Is that Amos back there kicking?
It looks like it is.
Number 15, Nico.
Snap is good.
Punt is not real good.
I think it was blocked.
It hit an outside gladiator.
It's going to end up at the 10 yard line.
Children are going to take over deep in Onsenaga Territory.
It's 8 to 0, 543 here to go opening quarter.
Let's come back in 30 seconds.
coverage of high school football is second down in eight.
Trojans with a two yard play there.
And it happened quick.
I guess we're going to do our timeouts quicker.
5-20 to go.
Trojans actually is not second in eight.
It's second in goal from the eighth, excuse me.
A little bit of a rush here.
We got three wide to the right, one to the left.
Giuliani is by his lonesome.
Number 12, that's Giuliani's brother.
It's off the left side.
Oh, and there's John Giuliani with a nice catch.
I believe that's who's got that.
Trojans have a touchdown.
Vic threw it too.
Let's see who gets up.
That's number 42 is John Giuliani.
And it's a touchdown for the Trojans.
That's a tough spot to be in defensively.
Look like possibly keeper and it's an option.
They did that play action roll out to the left, and you've got a pretty good athletic quarterback.
Somebody's got to pay attention to him.
In the meantime, brother John found some room.
He's called it a pop-back.
A pop-back.
Oh, NFL teams used to run that to death out of the high formation.
It's still a good play.
Giuliani's under.
He's got a shotgun.
He's going
to pitch
it under and forward for the two-point conversion.
Noah Starr, the fullback, will get that one.
And the Trojans lead it.
16 to nothing.
There's 503 here to go.
First quarter, we'll be back in 30
seconds.

Little folks, welcome back to Antonagon WBY 101 coverage of high school football.
5-0-3 here to go opening quarter.
16-0 Trojans, unfortunately.
Glad to look to get, I guess technically their third possession, but they did have an onsite kick that didn't go their way earlier.
Cole, what do you got up your sleeve here?
What do they need to do on this possession to get the ball going?
Get it on the kick first.
Yeah, that's most important.
Get the ball and then try to get something rolling, probably on the ground.
But maybe put it in the air this time.
You'll see.
Kick goes left side a little bit deeper.
He goes to one of the up guys of the 20.
That's Papua.
He's out to the 30, to the 35.
He's to the 40.
Little bit of room up near midfield.
Cuts it back inside.
He's up to the 44, 45 yard line of the Trojan's nice return there.
Interesting you said earlier about, you know, squibbing a lot in 8-man football.
And a big reason for that is usually your best athlete, you put deep.
There's lots of room.
Stuff like that happens.
So squibbing it really, say you kick it to the air 45, you actually gain yards
most of the time.
I think that's a bad move.
I think I'm kicking a line drive to the other team's best player.
Maybe not the plan.
It's not
always
the best strategy.
I doubt if that was the plan.
Alright, we got Buzzo and Shotgun.
He's got Holmstrom next to him to his left.
I think that's the pull off to his right, who goes in motion.
Buzzo back to pass.
He's got a little bit of time.
Now he's rolling right.
There's going to be a hold there, but it isn't called, and he's wrestled down by number 10.
That's going to be a loss of maybe one that's no a star on the tackle.
And I probably would have thrown a holding flag on that one, but that's just me.
Doesn't matter what I think anyway.
It's going to be second down in 11, loss of one.
He tried to go through the air.
You didn't call it.
I like the roll all right, but I don't know if there's any receivers over there.
The
motion was even to the left.
Yes, it was.
I think everybody was going different directions there.
We got the same formation.
Holmes from in the backfield next to Buzzo.
Got a bull in motion.
Buzzo is going to keep it left-hand side.
A little bit of room.
Breaks free up to the 40.
That's going to be like a 6-7 yard gain.
Nice run there by the youngster.
Had the bull lead block it.
I like it.
Interesting.
Well, it puzzles a good athlete.
They've got to call his number.
I mean, a dozen times tonight, too, wouldn't you think?
Now they're debating on what to run.
This is a third down and five, four, 20 to go here.
First quarter, 16-nothing Trojan.
Gladiators still seeking their first, first down of the game.
And I think you'd go for it here regardless if they could just
a
few yards, right?
I mean, mid-off, midfield, yeah, you'd go.
You have to.
Unless they've got a guy that can kick a field goal at 60 yards, I don't see that happening tonight.
All right, we got.
Moiling himself to the right-hand side, puzzles his shotgun.
He's got Holmes from next to him.
And it's a gift to Holmes from right-hand side.
Breaks free a little bit, wrestles his way up near the 35-yard line.
He's going to be short, but close.
There's a flag here.
Uh-oh, there is a flag.
That's right in the neighborhood of holding, unfortunately.
And he's looking for blinding numbers.
Let's see, they're discussing.
That's referee Joe Strong.
He's going to call Holdings.
Oh, now he's a killer.
That would have been fourth and sure, but instead it's going to be third and long.
We're going to spot this one back near midfield.
Those can be drive killers.
Yeah, he'll find Holdings.
He's always a killer.
And that was actually behind the line of scrimmage.
No, I got it right.
It's above the 50.
That's a long one.
I mean, they're going to go for it here.
So I think you run a play to try to get seven, eight yards.
Yeah, I mean, that's
probably your
best
bet.
Get a chunk of it.
And then you try to make it fourth and manageable because you know they're going to go for it on fourth.
They're going to go eye formation, buzzle under center.
He's got Holmstrom.
And the bullet behind him, fumbled snap and he's not going to be tackled immediately.
Number 65 is going to keep you there.
And that is Rosnowski for the Trojans.
Now I think they've got a punt.
Yeah.
They're going to spot that one.
44 yard line, give or take.
Check that 45 yard line, but it's still a fourth and 20.
About 20.
Yeah.
Do the ups and downs of the stock market scare
you?
Should they?

That'll be a first down.
That was number 42.
That's John Giuliani with a nice catch.
It looked like Cooper broke it up, but not to be.
He was in great position, but didn't get a good bounce.
You kind of wonder if something like that happens.
It's not really going your way.
Yeah.
Eventually he's there just not to be.
Hard with the side.
Oh, wait a second.
Call in the back.
They're going to call in complete.
It hit the ground.
They're going to call it out of bounds.
That's Pat Peska on the call says no incomplete.
We're gonna call that really good defense by more than that worked out just fine Second down to 10 to 35 here to go.
I could tell it was on, you know the far side line.
Oh, yeah, our view of that's terrible.
I have no idea what happened All right, we got a shotgun set to running backs in front of Giuliani.
He's gonna keep it going left hand side He's got some room.
He's to the 35 to the 41 guy to beat it's for Bula who wrestles them down near midfield
And the bullet is grabbed down and held on for dear life.
Nice run by Vic Giuliani there.
First down Trojan.
Ooh, he's shaking his head.
He looks a little upset after that play.
Manly crystal
falls wasn't
happy about the way he was tackled.
Disgreeing of opinions out there, but that's a football for ya.
We have just over two minutes left here, opening quarter.
Trojan Zul.
Want to play there near midfield?
It's about the 49 yard line.
Giuliani's setting him up.
It's going to be a shotgun snap.
There's two running backs in front of him.
He did a keeper on the last time they ran, and he's going to keep it the other way now up to the right hand side.
He's got a ton of room.
He's to the 45, to the 30.
He's up to the 20, to the 10.
And he's going to waltz in for a 51 yard TD score.
That's Vic Giuliani.
I've seen a big hug, but.
It wears number 12.
Cold thinks it was holding, but there is no flag on the play.
Getting a little chippy, I think.
They're feeling it more now getting through this
first quarter.
They're getting a little upset with that, and that wasn't the end.
I think that was the same play.
They ran a left for about a 20 yarder, and then they came right for a 51 yard TD play.
And the Giuliani's are kind of beating us up right now.
They both scored.
Dick also has a touchdown pass to his younger brother in this game.
They're gonna line up for a two-point aversion score is 22 to 0 151 here to go opening quarter We've got four wide three to the right one of the left that one of the left is younger brother John Vicks got it.
He's looking towards the little brother He's gonna run to the corner and he's easily gonna score that makes it 24 to nothing Vicks Giuliani scores so the score 24 nothing 151 here to go first quarter.
Let's come back in 30 seconds

What do we got going here?
Is this a timeout?
All good?
Preston is trying to gather up his troops to figure out what's going on out there.
Not a terrible
move.
Get them calmed down.
The only thing about high school football is they can score in bunches too.
They've got to start moving the ball off.
It is
really a game of swings.
You know, I've seen it 25 point swings, 30 point swings, and just like that, your lead can be gone or you can have yourself one.
Got to bring it up last year in Crystal.
30 to 6 was the lead.
It was I want to say late second quarter before the Glad hit on a bottom to Majurian and that just changed the game.
I don't want to count them out yet.
They're in a tight spot.
Yeah, it's a tough spot to be in but not an impossible one to get out of.
See how it goes.
Just let them
relax a little bit.
I just want to see offensively.
run their plays, you gotta look at like, we need a first down, we need some of our plays to work, just build up some confidence.
Crystal, they've been impressive so far, you can't design that.
They've schemed really well, some of their play designs, I've noticed, they've worked really well even on this last two-point, you know, did the kind of pop-pass thing, but brought the receiver in on a slam, left the whole side of the field wide open.
Can't forget that coach will be over there.
He's got a state title two years ago.
Yeah, no last year was a disaster, but they were very good priors, so They're a well coached team.
We have another kickoff coming.
This looks like number 12.
That is the only on you know, it's five five out there kicking that sprouts now keep This is gonna be a squibber sure is right down the middle.
It's the one of the upmen that is number eight I think that's your in right up the 43 yard line Play by Brody there
Good field position.
Oh, let's get the first down.
148 here to go.
24 to 0.
Trojan's lead.
I'd like to see a pass, but give me something short.
Have you noticed that your brother been out there yet?
I don't think so.
There's the play column looking for.
Give me a slant to number seven, but I don't think he's on the field.
He's not.
He's over on the left over here, so it's not going to go to number seven.
Great buzzles out there.
Calling the play.
I think number one needs to get the ball.
carry or two so far in over 10 minutes of the game.
Yeah, I think that's a good move.
We're going to send him a motion here, I bet.
Puzzle's in the shotgun.
The blue in motion.
Puzzle's back to pass.
Two Pahula.
Got a little bit of room, maybe.
Picked up a moille in the block, and he stumbles up to about the 47-yard line.
I'm going to give that tackle the number of 40.
I'll find the oddest one.
That is Clay Williams, the junior.
We'll get credit for a tackle
there.
I think four is the right call there, second down and sixth, and I like the play call.
It was a good block too.
It was a good pick up by Cooper that maybe would have been a one yard gain into the full yard gain.
And I don't mind that play.
I mean, Bobula's a great athlete, but he's not a big guy, so it's getting him the ball in speed is what they need to do.
Looks like the similar formation here, got a buzz on shotgun.
Holmstrom is also in the back door, who's right.
Bobula is lined up as a wing.
He'll go in motion.
Buzzer's gonna look to throw.
He's got some time this time rolling to his right.
Now he's got the edge.
Is he gonna get away from Sackler?
No, he's not.
He's knocked out of bounds.
I didn't really see where any of the receivers were there.
Was that a run the whole way?
Graden didn't make it
look like a run, if it was.
I thought it looked like he
was passing.
Yeah.
It was kind
of a drawback look.
Nonetheless, it's going to be a loss of a couple.
Bringing up third down to nine, the ball is spotted at about the 44 yard line.
We've got 56 seconds left in the first quarter.
They just have to get a positive lead here.
Give you five yards to set up a fourth and manageable.
Got him moving forward.
It's going to be Buzzo under center, Holstermet fullback.
But who let tail?
Boyle is split out to his left.
There's a tight end on the right hand side.
Now to Buzzo.
Pitch two.
Pabula, he cuts it inside a block, but he goes nowhere.
Nice tackle out there.
That is number 10.
That's Noah Starr.
He's made a couple nice plays.
It'll bring up a fourth down.
We have just over 40 seconds.
Clock is ticking.
A good edge there by Giuliani.
Is that 42 there?
Yeah, had the whole
side of the field portion to cut
back.
That play was not designed to go inside the tackle, but that's where it went.
All right, we've got Nico Amis.
They appear to be punting.
It's fourth down to nine, 24 seconds and sticking here, opening quarter.
And the snap is a little bit low.
It gets to him though.
The blunt is not very far, way up in the air.
It's going to drop and go out of bounds inside the Trojan 40.
I think this time I learned my lesson.
We'll hang around here.
It's 12.2 seconds left.
Vlad don't have a first down yet in the opening quarter.
They did stop the Trojans one time, I believe, on a turnover, but that's about it.
Yeah.
There
hasn't been many plays on the Trojans, either.
No.
We haven't had many plays right in front of us for that matter, have we?
No.
All right, 12.2 to go.
Let me do a couple more libraries.
I've got Minor State Bank of Atenagan, Atenagan County Telephone Company, Midway Telephone Company, and Jamidot, along with the Atenagan Gladiator Booster Club, Settlers Federal Credit Union Roots Crossing, and Waters Beach, Strong, Dental.
Bonsonogna, coach Doc Jo Strong as the referee of this evening's game.
This is going to be a shotgun set.
It looks like John Giuliani's in the backfield.
He is going to run to the right-hand side that the play his brother has scored on.
He's got some room.
There's another hold off near the 50.
That's not called either.
I saw number 65.
Tackle number 12.
There are a few of that hurts.
There's a strong run, you know.
Hard to beat teams that do that consistently.
That is the end of the first.
That is.
The end of the first, indeed.
The score is 24 for the Trojans.
Nothing for the Gladiators.
We're going to take 30 seconds.
We'll go back in 30 seconds.
It's member appreciation week at Settlers Federal Credit Union September 8th through the 11th with specials all week.

Back to the UI101 coverage of high school football.
We're about to start the second quarter.
Sponsored by citizen of St.
Bank of St.
Agnes, score a 24-2-0 Trojan.
Glad you're so not much going so far in this game.
We've got to turn the tide some way somehow here.
Got to start
with the second
quarter.
Stop.
Getting the ball back would be huge for them.
Anyway, it's possible.
I
mean, see, they were able to afford to turn over.
So can you do that again?
Can you disrupt them more?
They've got to figure out how to stop that play too.
So the Trojans are running this where they have a shotgun snap, two running backs in front of the quarterback, and they're just doing like the student body right and left, like the Notre Dame plays to be, and it's been very effective.
Yeah, just each wing is a lead blocker on either side.
You have two guys, and usually there's only one defender out that way.
They have executed it very well so far in this game.
I'd be shocked if we don't see it about a dozen more times before the end of this quarter.
Nonetheless, here we go.
Ball is spotted at the gladiator.
They're going to call it the 49-yard line, first and 10 Trojan.
This is an I formation.
Dick Giuliani under center.
That's hooky deep back.
He's got the ball left-hand side.
Oh, a nice tackle there, number seven.
Clayton Kim.
Yeah,
Devin
Bennett on there.
Number nine.
You thought it was number nine?
Yeah, that's what's about it,
I think.
Yeah.
My eyesight's that bad.
You're not going to take them back away from your brother.
It's OK.
Second down to nine.
Where's that?
But really, you've been number one.
I'm giving that tackle to Clayton.
It's his line.
It's like, yeah.
What they need, though, somebody just
come out and make a stick.
I've seen some good tackling so far.
I've also seen some plays where they've got blown out.
I formation.
Give his right hand.
This is number nine.
He's got a decent carry, but not too many.
That's seven Bennett, the junior.
It's going to be third down.
Glad he is.
Get a stop here.
It is third down and about five.
They've got a spotted 43-yard line-giver take.
He has some
different personalities.
So I don't know if they're just giving guys some breaks and kind of what it seems like.
Yeah, I'm wrong on that.
Giuliani just came back on the field, so he was not the quarterback on that play.
Giuliani comes back out there.
brother John's the deep back here.
They have that double wing set that's going to go right hand side.
This is that play we're talking about.
Oh, get to get the first down.
Nice tackle there, though.
That ends it.
We'll see who gets out of that pile.
Nope, number 12.
Take the first.
The first is correct, the senior.
He kind of took the front to that, but he gave him credit for getting in the way.
He didn't make a tackle.
It's going to be first down and 10 Trojans, 10-35 to go here, second quarter.
Ball spotted at the 36 yard line of the gladiator.
We've got to make a big play.
Give me a negative play or a holding call.
Just something that goes the gladiator's way to help the toss here.
Got to start getting them in the back seat a little bit more.
Causing negative play.
Giuliani under center.
Kind of a goofy, fake handoff.
Doesn't work.
Throw it right inside and that pass is broken off.
That was just a weird looking play all around.
BJ had his hand up, didn't it,
BJ
Anderson?
Yeah, BJ, I thought he tipped that pathway number 19, good defensive play.
Something looked all wrong with that, like the fullback ran into Giuliani.
Yeah, they kind of hit in the backfield as they were trying to develop it.
Sometimes you ask for a negative and play it, it just happens, I'll keep on trying.
Second down and ten.
Happens in waves though, you know, you get one, you can get a second, you can get a third, and before you know it,
It happens in waves though.
You know, you get one, you can get a second, you can get a third, and before you know it, it's four down.
We just really need to get off the field some way, somehow, with no more points.
Giuliani under center.
I formation, he's going to keep it in the half.
That looks like holding a number 35.
No stall again.
Oh, great defense.
That's good with the pick.
What a way.
Little brother in the right play.
There's a number looking for 9.59 to go, and that's a turnover by the Trojans.
Where'd it be there?
I'm gonna go with great coverage.
Yeah, I mean you had to rope better than the receiver did on that play And now the gladiator has actually have caused two turnover in this game They're gonna take over It's gonna be not kind of deep in their territory I think they've got a spot of the brown the 15-yard line according to the scoreboard gonna be first down and then I
like to see a little more aggressive on offense, you know, you haven't Gotten a whole lot yet, but you've been forced to punt now.
What are you four times?
thinking three punts and that one turned over on the left.
I think technically a on-site kick isn't a turnover.
We're going to call another timeout here.
Looks like the gladiator is going to call a timeout.
And we're going to take that timeout with them.
24-0 Trojans, 9.59 here to go in the first half.
Let's go back in 30 seconds.
For years, the Antonagon Gladiator Booster Club has gone above and beyond to help with the financial needs for athletics for the Antonagon Gladiators.

The Antonagon Gladiator Booster Club.
Proud to promote area youth in athletics.
Now you're going for a foul.
WPY, we're going to cover to high school football.
24-0 Trojans over the Gladts.
I'm Willie Dupont.
I'm joined by a birthday boy, Cole Kinn.
His brother just made a great play.
They really needed that.
They absolutely needed that.
They've actually caused two turnovers, which is big.
Their offense has to get going at some point.
This is when
you have to, you know, first drive in the second quarter.
All right, you broke the rust off on the season a little bit.
Start pushing the ball down the field, make some plays.
You have players that can.
Get them in safe, get in the ball.
They've got a handful of studs.
That's how they've got to find them some room out there.
And let's see what they dial up.
I mean, it's three scores, but this is far from over.
You just put it like a touchdown here, and next, you know, there's like pressure back on the Georgia.
Long field though.
It is a long field.
But it starts off first down.
They don't have any first downs yet in this game.
That was a good chance for one.
It looks like Buzzo will be in a shotgun set.
He's got Babula as a wing on his right hand side.
Holmstrom is next to him on his left.
Babula in motion.
Buzzo's looking to run.
There's no room for him.
And it's hard to tell how far he got there.
But I'd say a gate of nothing or maybe a loss in a little bit.
They're going to say it's a loss.
I do owe the chaining a shout out too, by the way.
I've got Dave Gilbert over there along with Pat Tucker, Derek Morris, and Caleb Price.
Thanks, guys.
I used to do chain game before I got thrown into the booth.
I'm done.
A lot nicer up here, to be honest with you.
Nine and a half here to go.
First half, 24-nothing Trojans.
Second down and 12, they'll call it a two-yard loss.
And their line to distance hasn't been able to create a ton of space for their running backs thus far in this game.
Not a ton of push, especially running.
Got a snap, bounces off the ball, that's a turnover.
It's recovered by, I think, Giuliani.
He's tackled, but that's going to be a Trojan.
They're gonna first and goal.
Bounced off a couple helmets, by the
looks of
it.
Yeah, that is 42.
That's John Giuliani, who was scored earlier in this game, a big defensive play.
I think that bounced off a bula that was in motion.
That's what it looked like.
Hard to tell from our angle.
We've got Buzzo holding his shoulder as he heads to the sideline.
That's not a good sign.
Either 9-11 to go here, second quarter.
And your second quarter sponsor, Citizen State Bank, in on Sonaga.
We got here, eye formation.
Looks like Hookey is the D-back.
Giuliani gives to him right hand side.
That's not Hookey.
That's number 13.
That is Hookey, my bad.
And he goes nowhere.
Good stop by the Gladiators.
it's a tough turnover in that spot.
Yeah, it's just not ideal.
They've had trouble getting their trojans off the field to begin with.
After they cause a big defensive play, two players later give it right back.
Then set him up inside
the tank.
That is a loss of one, though, so good start to this drive for the Trojans.
They just don't have a lot of room to lose here, though.
It's going to be I-formation, ball spot at the five, second down and goal.
Giuliani fakes, and he's going to throw it to his left-hand side.
That's his little brother who scores, I think.
No, he doesn't.
That's a nice tackle by Clayton Kinn.
He's
been all over the place in a couple minutes.
He's been out there.
That was John Giuliani with the reception.
He's chopped down by Kinn at the one-yard line.
He's third down in goal.
He's 15 here to go in the second quarter.
It's like great in to walk it off.
That's not the locker room.
There goes the starting quarterback.
Buzzo is injured.
I don't need that.
Hopefully he's OK.
They need him.
Eight minutes left here.
Ball's on the left hash line.
Giuliani is going to be under his center.
Give to the right hand side.
It's hooky and he just kind of walks in more or less.
Kind of lean forward.
And
that's 13, that's his second touchdown of the game.
He's made the score of 30 to nothing Trojan.
And they can't afford to turn over inside the 10 like that on top of your defense.
Yeah.
And you're already figuratively back against the wall.
Then you do it again on top of that.
It's tough.
All right.
I wonder who's going to throw through a quarterback.
I don't even have a guess.
I guess we're just going to see momentarily.
In the meantime, two point conversion by the Trojans.
Giuliani's in a shotgun.
Seth Rewise, right one to his left.
And he's looking left hand side.
And good defense again by Clayton Kin.
And he breaks up a pass, meant for, I think that's number 27 over there.
That's going to be wrong.
I'm not sure who that pass was to my bad.
It's going to last.
It's going to last.
Broken up by Clayton Kidd.
The score remains 30 to nothing.
Tell me he didn't play in the first quarter.
He was close shopping.
Is that what you told me?
That's the story I
was told.
His practice, Monday.
He's been on the field for four minutes.
He's got the interception, double tackles, and broke up a two-point conversion.
I feel like they need him out there.
Yeah.
The way to show your coach that you deserve to be out there.
I think he's back.
Good to see.
And now again, we keep on saying this, but they've got to move the ball.
Still no first down.
We're under eight minutes to go second quarter.
And if anything, they need to give their defense a rest because it's been on the field the entire game thus far.
is the spot.
Not the start of the year they're looking for.
Apparently, they didn't want the time out.
It's so far this one's been one time on call, but it feels like it's been a couple.
Yeah, so the scoreboard says also it's called one, but I don't know why they're letting them reach through for a kick again.
Did he time out?
I guess.
Didn't know he got this.
I guess they're a little bit rusty too.
I always kind of forget what I'm doing at this until you get through a couple games.
Speaking of that next week, it's another home game Labor Day weekend.
It'll be here Friday night.
Free game will be about 650.
It's kind of a different school though like Calumet.
Is it Copper Island?
How do you bet Copper Island is the right answer?
I'm not familiar.
They're a fairly new high school, as a high school, I think.
Okay, so I'm thinking their program is fairly new too?
Yeah.
Okay.
They've been a middle school team the last couple years.
They're longer than that.
Maybe three-four?
That'll be the game on Labor Day weekend Friday night.
We'll be here at 7 o'clock for your game 6-50.
In the meantime, Gladiators will return a kick.
They're going from our left to our right now.
Swiver left-hand side.
That is to, I think that's Majurin.
It is Majurin, and he's going to go nowhere.
Tackled by three Trojans to add a faulty 40-yard line.
This hasn't changed to pick it up.
Had a lot of guys there right away.
Yeah, the Trojans, except for that one kick that hit Mabula right in the chest on the liner, they've executed their kicks pretty well.
I
guess they forgot I'm the one now.
I think what just happened there is more of the plan.
Yeah, to get one on the ground.
Yeah, we're from the no man's land.
Very their opening
kickoff.
All right, what do we got going here?
Quarterback is that more than in that quarterback?
That would make sense actually.
Ivar Mation, Mabula is the tailback.
And it's a give to nobody.
That was a botched play.
And more than it's going to be back up for a loss.
We'll never move there.
So you must have thought it was messed up.
Yeah, I'm not sure what was the goal there.
The wing or tail back kind of moved.
Yeah, I'm not sure there either.
Was 42 the full back enough play?
No.
I think it was Jacob Hurst under 12.
I thought it was 12.
That would make sense.
Yeah, I don't know what happened there.
The play didn't work at all.
And now that might happen.
You lose your starting quarterback.
Now you've got guys in different roles that haven't played there much, so...
He is trotting
back.
Oh, that's cool.
Yeah, we have Boylan in under center.
I believe that's Walsh from our full back, but Bula's deep back.
Give it to Bula here to be the right play.
He's going to try to throw up, but he's going to go nowhere.
He's going to use that.
That's point number nine.
That's Devin Bennett who called his name a couple times this evening.
It's going to be third down of forever.
6.45 and the clock ticking here for the gladiators in the second quarter.
And this possession is not going anywhere.
No.
I'm not sure what that play was either.
Yeah.
There's
a
lot of confusion
it looks like right now for the offense, especially.
We've got third down and 23.
625 and ticking.
Going to be well under center.
Leave homes are not pulled back and we're going to have a timeout, I think.
Is that equipment?
The referees are holding up something here.
Oh, you're tying the shoe, Bennett.
Oh, yeah.
Made the play, gotta
tie
a
shoot
now.
We've got equipment malfunction.
We'll get back in action momentarily, 6.16 on the clock.
Clock will start running soon.
There it is.
One in their center, high formation.
But Bula's a deep act.
It is a pitch of Bula right hand side, got a little bit of room.
Now he cuts back, got all kinds of room.
He's in the 45 and the 50.
Nobody's going to touch him.
He's in the 30, to the 20.
And he is long gone, folks.
That's a touchdown gladiator.
He's given him a 75 yarder.
Pretty easy here now.
Nice play by Mabula.
And finally, a little bit of room for the running back and he scores.
Same score it was last year before they had the crazy comeback.
5-58 here to go in this one, first half.
Mabula has just scored from 75 yards.
And really, that's maybe the third, fourth time we've seen that.
Yeah, he's got the ball a few times, but not 90.
Not
what we're used to seeing most games here.
All right, there's a start.
Yeah, it is a start.
That's a big play.
We got that formation.
Boiling in under center.
Fobula's deep back.
Wide receiver out left.
It's a gift to the fullback, and he's going to go nowhere.
Dumped by number 11.
That's Ivan Karan.
The score remains 30 to 6.
We've got a 5-58 here to go.
Second quarter.
Let's come back in 30
seconds.

Well, folks, welcome back.
W-P-Y covers a high school football score.
Thirty to six after a 75-yard touchdown run by Babilula.
Now we need to stop here.
It's gonna game go on.
Need a
big stop.
Last of the kicking off here.
We're talking strategy on the commercial break, and we both agree you try to do a squibber away.
Well, pretty much away from your best athletes is the way to go.
And right here, I see some space around the 30-yard line.
Yeah.
That's kind of where I would try to get the ball to when you got a shot at it.
And with two deep guys, it kind of opens up the front a little more.
There you go.
That's a line then, but it's recovered immediately by the Trojans.
The ball was spotted at the 50R line.
They'll take over first in 10th.
John Giuliani.
That's a John.
He's got good hands.
Don't take it as hands.
Yeah.
We've seen him get a couple times in this game.
I don't think that's a bad strategy either.
If you've got the other teams, one of their guards up there that clearly can't catch, that's a good person.
That's
a good person to go attack at, yeah.
What do we know though, right?
Thirty to six, Trojans with the ball, first down, and ten.
This is a four wide set, three to the right, one to the left, they're kind of stacked over on the right hand side.
Giuliani is going to get the snap.
He's back to pass, he's looking left hand side, he's going to take off, he's got the edge.
In Holmstrom.
Oh, I thought he's gonna get a whore collar there, but no call.
He's pushed out of bounds.
He let go in time.
He just let go in time.
I thought he's gonna drag him down there and that would have been a little messy.
It's gonna be second down, man.
That's just one of those you need to finish a play to this without a bound, not
get lazy and reach out.
I agree with you.
I've got second down and two given eight yard carry there.
They're having a lot of trouble with Giuliani, but the Trojans really aren't running him a
But I feel like they could get a lot more within what they had to.
All right, here we go.
Balls in the 42-yard line of the gladiator, second down and two.
Shotgun set, the two running backs in front of the tailback, and that is number 20.
He's going to dig and zag.
He's easily got the first down, wrestled down.
St.
Holmstrom is one of the guys there.
He's at 33.
And the carry was by number 20.
That's Isaac Williams, a freshman, a shifty player.
He's got himself a first down for the Trojan.
Spot that looks like about 33 yard line clock ticking at 540 left in the second quarter
and this is where Forest Park in the past has excelled running the ball taking 25 30 seconds off at a time, but when you run it get 78 yards I
The other thing I'm seeing too is our guys look tired.
Yeah, and you know, that's what it does.
They've been on the field for a long time
really knock you
Same formation again.
The deep back is number 20.
That's Isaac Williams two running backs in front of him.
He's keeping this all the way.
It's a one tackler.
Not a second.
I'm going to be credit to that 30 something number 35.
I'm going to give credit to that tackle.
It is Dan Loge.
He's one of the EPC players playing for the Gladiators.
We're under five minutes.
Go here.
Second quarter scores 30 to six.
It says ball on the 53 yard line.
I don't think that's right.
I'm going to go right through the yard line.
It's a better bat.
And
you're right about the Trojans there
just taking their
time at this
point in this game.
And honestly, I don't mind that.
I mean, if my team is up four scores, I don't fault them for just kind of dragging themselves in.
They're
going to call time out here anyway.
With 424 left in the second quarter, 30.
30 to 6 is the score.
Trozans leaves the glass.
We'll come back in 30 seconds.

Well folks, welcome back.
WPY would have liked coverage of high school football.
424 here to go.
Second quarter, glad to trail.
The Trojan is 30 to 6.
I have two more libraries left.
Let's do those.
We've got Superior Wealth Mansion in Marquette.
And a new one this season, the Weissman's Pit Stop Bar and Grill in Greenland.
I heard the Prime Rib out there on Saturday nights as well.
Standing.
Those are the libraries.
They'll probably give them all one more shot out later in the game.
We also have a halftime show coming up, of course.
Crazy get that halftime.
Sponsored by Weissman's Pit Stop Bar and Grill.
We'll talk about the first half.
So far, mostly Trojans.
They had a 1-75-yard touchdown run by Babula.
Last drive.
Very recent memory, that one.
Now they are facing a second down and 10.
This is a Trojans with the ball.
Defense did a good job on first down, holding them to nothing.
There's some glimmers of hope, but it's this atrociousness that has you up her hand.
Glad to have for us two turnovers.
We have a third one up their sleeve.
We've got Giuliani, he's going to be under center.
I formation.
Give us the hook, he left hand side.
He's going to try to come back and he's going to get left to nowhere.
19 and 33 on the tackle there.
B.J.
Anderson and Ryan Holmstrom damaged them.
Nice D.
Yeah, I went to come back, had nowhere to go.
It was a good job up front, defensively.
You're absolutely right.
The initial...
Push for the Trojans wasn't there.
Glad he was covered the back side.
That was a nice play.
A lot of that
has to do with the ends.
The ends have to do their job and then kind of play.
Otherwise the cutbacks will be open.
I played defensive end back in my day and now all I was supposed to do was make sure the guy went inside.
Yeah, go in.
You got to force
him inside.
You didn't screw your job, then you're going to linebackers and linemen are supposed to come to help.
3-40 to go.
It's going to be a four wide set.
Three to the right.
Juliani in a shotgun.
That is an illegal shift I'm going with.
They're going to call off-sides on the Trojans.
I don't know if that's the call I'd make, but I think the five-year
penalty is
right.
Strange moment.
Yeah, I saw like a guard in motion.
I don't think that's legal.
Referee Eugene Fisher agrees.
Third down and 13.
You guys got to win this this is probably the best set of series you've had so far off of a touchdown
They have you
got to win these
neck two plays most likely up four wide three to the right one left Juliani is looking to his right He's gonna throw a deep right hand side and who is that your brother again almost got himself another pick There's not the bull out there.
Oh the bull of that time
701 looks similar.
They do
And that was good defense.
I think Babool again ran around better than the Trojan receiver.
That's going to bring up a fourth down and 13.
They have to get out the field on this play.
Yeah, got to win.
Got to win this play.
And I would be a little bit surprised if the Trojans didn't come out in that same formation.
Or the other play I could see them running is that kind of the double running back in front of the quarterback and running that kind of play.
Or
even a...
a pass off of that, which we haven't really seen much from that formation,
and this would be a sneaky, sneaky
to
do.
Oh, they're going to go with three wide receivers stacked.
Julianian shotgun, his brother is to his left, the lone receiver over there, he's running to his left, and there's going to be a holding on this play, and BJ's going to stack all, he throws it very inadvertently, all tipped away by Majurian.
Oh, Clayton, actually.
Is it Clayton, actually, to set it away?
Good defense all around.
It's going to be a holding call anyway, so that play went nowhere.
It's going to be gladiator ball.
That was perfect.
And the hold is declined.
Turnover on down.
That's a stop for the gladiators.
They took it over with 3-19 here to
Good pressure there, good coverage.
That's a
win right now.
Finally, just get a turnover on down.
Get your offensive ball.
Go back at it.
I think the other big part, too, is the defense is starting to get wore down, so he's got to get him off the field.
Yeah.
So now here we go, 30 to six, gladiators with the ball, decent field position at that.
They're 36.
Moeylenin's under center.
I formation, Baboula's the deep back.
It's a handoff.
No, it's not.
Moeylenin's still got an optional look, but it went nowhere.
He may have got back to the line of scrimmage.
I'd say so.
Going to go 2nd and 10th, they do say he got back to his original line of scrimmage.
That looked like an option.
Yeah.
Which I haven't seen yet.
Kind of like a roll out pitch option.
A little bit of a different look.
There's 19 of hers there.
I think he's calling in.
They're running the play in.
That'd be P.J.
Anderson.
P.J.
Anderson.
He's the right guard.
Deep Kinn is wide out to the right.
Eye formation one under center.
Number 12 is the fullback right now.
It's first.
I think that's the bullet tail.
You have to get the ball right hand side.
It is the bullet.
He's going to wrestle this way for a few.
Here we go.
Not a bad play there though.
It's probably five.
More than that either.
Like that.
Seven.
Eight.
He's going to spot that one.
About the 44 yard line.
Call it six.
That's going to call it seven.
We're going to call it the 43 yard line.
Third down is three.
There's just two minutes left in the first half.
This is where you kind of get into, like, what do you do, though?
You don't want to give them the ball back, either.
Yeah.
But they... You got to go for it, though.
I think now by 24.
Yeah.
You got to try for points, here, for sure.
I formation, one under center.
42 out there at tailback, now, I think.
Hard to keep in this angle, though, isn't it?
Let's take a third.
That's her thing.
Okay, Bones is going to keep it, try to throw it, but there's people all around him, and he's going to go nowhere.
That's going to be his back.
That play hasn't been there.
It's really all dice.
Forest Park has done a good job just being in the backfield quickly.
We're just getting penetration and there's this guy going all the way.
I'm going to give credit to a sack on that one for Ivan Corian, for Kerian maybe.
And we have 123 left.
The gladiators are going to let this run down and call.
Time always be my thought.
They have no reason to rush.
And if I was the Trojans, that's probably call of time.
I'll try to get the ball back.
But Coach Fabrius, I think he's going to be too.
B.J.
Anderson, you've got it, number 19.
The glass can pull here.
Is the puzzle back out there?
Oh, yeah.
But he's fine after that hit.
They've got to protect him better.
We'll see as the season progresses.
And that's going to be a big thing through this year.
I think the line's a little bit undersized.
They've got to find their rhythm and create a little bit of space.
The thing with the line though is now this is basically their third year.
A lot of them will low gain in Connors.
So they
do have some experience.
Alright, we got a shotgun set.
Buzzo's got that home strum behind him.
He's looking to pass, rolling right hand side.
He's going to get the edge this time.
He's to the 50, up to the 45 yard line.
He cruises out of bounds and he's 5 yard gain there.
He just had to take off.
Yeah,
I don't think he had enough time to do much except for running.
Wasn't a generous flaw.
Why is Yard short there?
He's got a better view than we do.
I ought to give him one more yard, but he's going to give him four.
He'll be second down and sixth.
What?
Did he go out of bounds?
Let that clogs off a little bit.
I think that's a smart plan.
He's the one defender that's got a really good angle on him.
He can stay in bounds to get that yard and get small.
I don't know if that really serves a good purpose.
No, not for a yard.
All right, what do we got here?
Is that going to be a timeout?
Nope, we haven't got equipment.
Uniform male function.
That's Clayton Kinn heading to the sideline.
I don't know what he's got going there.
There's something to the coaches.
Clayton heads back out there.
He split out wide left.
Fuzzle is going to be under center.
Eye formation.
Mabula is in the tail back, led by Holmstrom.
Here we go.
They're set.
Second down and six.
I snapped a buzzle back to pass.
He's going to try to roll left, but he's going to get sacked.
There's just no time at all.
I think he might have switched helmets as what happened there and had two mouth guards.
I
think he
actually put Nico's helmet on.
Oh, he had the wrong
helmet.
Yeah.
I'm going to give credit to number 52, who's out there flexing for Crystal that's got the sack.
That is Nick Zahavut.
That's an interesting name.
All right, we're under a minute to go here 38 to 6 gladiators trailer.
I see Holmstrom's on the sideline Just a hard part with
not
having
the deepest team ever
and who do you send out there?
Yeah, let's see Nico Amos.
He's got the trainers over there looking at him got his shoulder pads off his night is most likely over
And we're going to have a time off for the Gladiator 36.4 seconds left.
They trail at 38 to 6.
We're late in the third quarter.
Let's come back in 30
seconds.
Do more faster with jamadots.com and Midway Telephone Company, providing you with mega-fast download speeds up to 500 megabytes.
Fast, consistent, reliable.
The Midway Telephone Company, serving Covington,
The Trojans have been pretty sharp
tonight.
I don't know how good they are, but they've played well.
Gladiators can show some signs of life down the stretch here.
Yeah, it'd be nice to see a little more.
Yeah, I just want to see them execute some plays and get the ball rolling just a little bit.
That's how we're looking for here.
I see Ken is going to be split out to the right.
Yeah.
Buzzer's in shotgun.
Brody's out here, too.
Oh, we got double wide receivers.
Good call.
It is Vagula.
And Ken, if there's no time again
for Buzzo, he gets away for one tackle, but he's
going to get tackled by the second defender.
And he's got to be frustrated at this point.
And I see one of our linemen down.
He looks like he's got a cramp.
Buzzo is absolutely running for his life when they have tried to pass it.
He's not going to get all day back there going for a run, but he needs more than zero time.
Then to catch the ball and have to run.
Yeah.
I don't know.
I mean, I assume he's got a decent arm.
We really haven't seen him get a good opportunity.
He threw one pass.
No, that was moiling it even.
It was the only one that threw a pass down field.
The muzzle really hasn't had time to throw all yet.
It's frustrating, I'm sure, for him.
He's the one that's got to deal with the consequences of that most of the time.
When the line doesn't block while your quarterback gets beat up.
All right, we have one player down.
I think he's fine, but he does have a cramp, so we're going to take a little timeout with him.
Score is 38-6.
We've got 21 seconds left to your third quarter.
Let's come back in 30 seconds.
Do you want to go or good times meet great food?

Football, that's Jacob Hurston.
This looks like he's got a cramp.
He'll be fine.
He's hurting right now, though.
Yeah,
but he'll be OK.
Clock is ticking away.
There's 20 seconds left.
Ladders with it.
They've got Buzz on a shotgun.
Got one wide on each side.
Keeping a little bit of time, he does, throws left-hand side, and good coverage, fight for the ball.
His tip is actually tipped away by Kin.
Now he's getting up a little bit gingerly.
Here's 5.7 seconds left.
Looks like he's okay.
He's jogging back.
I think he just kind of fell awkwardly there.
He turned into the defender.
That is a turnover, too.
Was that a 4,000?
Yes, it
was.
Trojans will take over again.
5.7 seconds left in the third quarter.
They lead at 38 to 6.
Now you hope the dam just doesn't break and they start letting it touch down.
So you've got to play with some heart here.
Don't let it get away any worse than it is.
The Gladiators offense really has been stymied except for the one touchdown by Papulo, the 75 yarder.
I doubt they'd have 75 yards outside of that plate.
Yeah, something like that.
Maybe 50.
I'd say in the first quarter, they probably had
negative.
Yeah, no first downs in that first quarter.
I think they've got three total at this point.
Oh, that's going to be offside.
Hardcalf got the gladiator, so spot him five yards.
Counter music.
Start death position.
Now it just doesn't help the cause.
I've been there too, you're tired, you're getting beat up, and then they pull the old Hardcalf and you jump.
Oh, a lot of groaning.
Yeah, you're just trying to...
get to this play just to kind of keep this game rolling along.
All right, first down and five falls at the 44 yard line of the Gladiators.
Giuliani's under center and off is the star.
He goes left hand side.
He's tackled low again as Holmstrom calls his name a lot this evening.
And that is going to end the third quarter.
The third quarter's score is 38 to six.
Trojans over the Gladiators will come back for the fourth quarter in 30 seconds.
This is Sam and he changed my life.

I know they're gonna be a good
team this year and it looks like I
mean they're gonna win half a dozen games maybe more it'll be kind of depends you know you don't know how good like crystal or out Lakeland and it's gonna be in a couple other bigger teams
Yeah, you have powers in there too.
Powers is another one.
I think the gladiators, they didn't show it tonight, but I saw some good stuff defensively.
I think their offense has got to be better next time, but we'll see.
Yeah, and
first
game
with a... Give right hand side, and that's going to be a first down with the gladiators, but a nice tackle again.
I think that's number nine.
Babula with the tackle, and it is number nine on the run there.
That was Devin Bennett right hand side.
Give him five or six and give him a first down.
But it is the first game,
new coach, new playbook, you know, kids.
First learning these and running them really for the first time at games You
know I want to say this is a third coach.
We've had like a five-year window.
Yeah, you played for Thomas, right?
I played for Tyler and I played for Kate.
Yeah, Kate and I think coach was two years.
Maybe it's the other you got a cousin crossover
right handoff is right hand side, I believe if we see who this is that star again number 10 Number 20
That is Isaac Williams, a freshman.
First carry for him that I can recall.
Getting the handful off the right hand side.
I believe the scoreboard's wrong there.
Should be second down at six.
I'm going to give him a gain of four there.
Ball spotted just inside the 35 yard line.
That's
not agreeing with the scoreboard right now.
That is a 34 yard line, right?
I'm not wrong on that.
35.
Somewhere in
there.
Not to 25.
Definitely not 25.
Trojans are lined up.
They're in high formation.
I believe that Giuliani out there still.
He's going to fake everybody, throw it to his brother left hand side.
We'll see if Ken can tackle him
and yes
he can.
And that kid is so much bigger than your brother.
Nice tackle.
That was John Giuliani out there.
Give him a four yard game before Ken knocks him over.
Third down and one, 10-40 to go.
Well, Clayton Kinn's a brave soul there.
It's a big kid he just talked down.
Really?
From the defense, you know, Ryan's made some really good sticks, but it's been Brody and Cooper and, you know, Clayton that have really laid a lot of these
bigger hits.
I think this actually has been fun.
I don't really think that's the issue.
It's just some of the plays they've gotten gouged pretty bad where nobody's there.
That's going to be a full start.
That's on John Giuliani, a freshman at stake there.
Don't forget.
He's still a freshman.
He's a youngster.
This is his first game.
He's played pretty well for the first time player in high school.
He's not playing like this is his first
high school game.
No, absolutely not.
And I think he's one of those guys I tell you like at the end of the season he will not look like a freshman at all.
Yeah.
That helps the cause though.
It'll be third down and sixth.
We've got about 10 minutes to go.
Clock is ticking away.
Kind of erased that last point.
Yes, it did.
Ball is spotted right at the 35 yard line.
Scoreboard is correct right now.
10 to go.
Just crossed the 10-minute mark.
This is going to be that snap deep, two running backs in front of the quarterback.
I think that's Giuliani back there running right inside.
It's John Giuliani in the freshman's score.
So he gets the false start, and they say they call his number, and he goes 35 yards for a touchdown.
Why not?
Why not?
He's been solid this evening, I want to say.
That's the third time he scored two touchdown receptions and now a 35 yard touchdown run and he's made the score 44 to six The glass are in big trouble.
I got a stick of fork in them at this point.
It would be a beyond a miracle.
They're down by 38 Yeah,
it's tough when you get out of
I you know, you get to late in the game, too And I mean guys are tired.
It's like, you know, they know they're done You gotta show some heart
All right, we got here.
Shotgun said it looks like Vic Giuliani's back there.
He's going to look to run this land.
It's not there.
He's just going to cruise in right hand side anyway, and he's going to jog in for a two-plane conversion.
Nice play there.
That was Vic Giuliani, and he makes it 46-6.
And I do think too, so the gladiator defense, I don't think they played bad, but they just don't feel too much.
Yeah.
And eventually, you get tired.
They've been on field the whole second half already, basically.
You've seen maybe three series?
Yeah.
They've been glimmers of hope offensively, but nothing like a sustained drive.
And the defense has just played way too much at this point.
You mentioned it earlier, too.
I think the Trojans have done a really good job of rotating their guys.
So they're pretty fresh here, despite the fact that it's late in the game.
Yeah, I mean, they've done it the whole
game.
You know, we've seen Noah Starr, he's came in maybe the first time in the second quarter even to get a few minutes as well as came in second quarter, a lot in the third, is in now, and it keeps your best guys fresher as
a whole.
I was thinking that too.
I mean, if you're in, they're in control of this game.
Like, why on earth do you burn off the guys that you're really going to need no tougher games?
It makes no sense.
I agree.
during like late October when you start hitting that playoff time.
Those guys will be a little bit fresher from not running so hard here early in the
season.
Little pooch kick this time.
Nice catch there.
Number 35 is Cam Logie.
Nice play.
But again, the Trojans, their kicking has been pretty effective.
They give up the one return, the rest, they pretty much got what they wanted.
And yeah, recovered one of their own.
They got one.
Yeah, they played pretty well.
Special team.
The offense have also played well and the offense has been plenty good.
And it's not like they've given up a ton of yards to make those short fields hurt that bad.
No, they really haven't.
See what the Glad's got here.
I believe that's Buzzo out there in a shotgun.
He's got two running backs.
The Bull is in motion.
An absolute little bit high.
Buzzo trying to keep those guys all over him.
He's trying to wiggle his way and he's going to get close to the...
The original line of Skrivich may be a gain of one.
It's like a really good run for a yard.
Yeah.
I mean, he had to bounce around and make guys miss.
Kind of had nowhere to go.
I think that's been his experience all night pretty much.
He had the one run, throws a pass when he ran for five yards.
That's really the only space he's found.
Yeah.
He ran for a lot of yards.
He's just been behind the line.
Yeah.
We got 840 to go to be second down and 10.
You did have a little gait on that play, but they don't give him one.
A really long nothing there.
Under eight and a half.
Well, that's where our fourth quarter sponsor, before I forget it, is the Minor State Bank about to knock on their fourth quarter sponsor.
Again, thank you all of our sponsors.
Gonna be a shotgun set.
Buzzel's back there.
Leave his homestrum at Pabula, Pabula in motion.
Give us the homestrum.
And he's gonna get dropped in the backfield.
No blocking for him either.
give Chris number 52, and that is the
The name we've called a good handful of times this evening.
He's played well.
Started at right guard for the
Third down in 14, 745 here to go in this one.
The shooters are still wound
up.
I want to see if they go for a few different looks on offense.
Just to try some stuff out
here.
Good leap in the playbook, just to see if it works, right?
Puzzle's in the shotgun.
He's got Holmes from next to him to his right, but Bulu will come in motion.
And it's going to be a give to Holmes.
He got some room here, but he gets just a few, maybe three, maybe four.
And before he's brought down by the Trojans, it's going to be four down and 10.
I imagine they're just going to go for this with seven minutes left?
Yeah.
I don't see a reason to just pawn it away.
Except for Clayton Kidd's back there.
Can your brother pawn it?
It looks like he's going to try it.
He was last shooting.
Here he is.
Nap is the kid.
He's going to take off with a burst of speed.
He's going to get there.
Nice play.
That's a first down by the Gladiator.
He's off the left-hand side.
Clayton Kidd.
Pardon me hopes that wasn't called that.
I think
he gained about 15
yards there.
I've seen it happen before.
I've been in games where the opponent just takes off.
No, he's just going to do this.
I don't care what they call it.
First down at 10, the clock's going to start running with six and a half to go.
Gladiator first down, nice run there by Clayton Kinn.
He's played well defensively.
That's the first time he really saw him with the ball.
It's just been hard to get anybody the ball,
especially in space.
That's probably.
You know, the most open runner has had Alino.
Absolutely, that's it.
And we just threw the middle all
game.
All right, shotgun set.
We got two running backs.
One of them is Ken.
The other one's Holmstrom.
Ken in motion.
It's going to be a pitch to Ken right hand side.
He got to the space again, makes one guy miss, runs through another tackler.
He's got a first down right hand side.
Another nice run of like 15 yards at this.
Trojans give up two big chunks in a row.
We haven't seen that all game.
And we have a gladiator that's down.
Who is that?
Is
that Ken?
It is.
Looks like he's trying to get up though.
Wind knocked out of him, maybe?
Maybe.
His coaches are heading out to take a peek.
Score is 44 to 6 Trojans, 5-54 here to go.
It looks like he took a couple of steps there.
Players are kneeling down.
I'm going to hold on just a second, because I think he's going to walk off.
I'm going to say when knocked out of him, just a little bit dinked up, and he's going to walk off on his own power.
That's too bad.
He said two of the better players at the gladiators pass this game.
And the last two.
And the last two.
Come up a little bit lame.
We got going here.
They're going to call timeout.
No, we're going to run a play.
5.54 here to go.
She buzzles on the sideline.
He must be looking to get the play from the coach Preston, man.
Clayton's going to walk that off.
I think you're right.
He's got something with one of his legs going on there.
It's going to be first down at 10 gladiators.
The ball is spotted at the 12 yard line.
Ken is going to have a seat on the grass.
Hoping he's already played well this evening.
Clock is ticking 545 to go.
Buzzo heads out there with the play.
If the gladiators can punch this one in, they trail it big.
44 to 6.
He's got approaching 5 and a half minutes left in this one.
And here we go.
Buzzo's in the shotgun, holds him to his right, kin to his left.
And it's going to be a give to Holmström.
They're going to call legal procedure a motion on there.
And Holmström is going to run it in for a touchdown, but it's going to get a call back.
They're going to call legal procedure, I believe.
Two guys in motion.
And
that is indeed the call.
It'd be a five yard penalty.
It'd be first down and 15.
And that's too bad because that was a nice run by Holmström, his best of the evening.
Not to be.
Yeah, he hasn't had many lanes either.
Nobody has.
I'd say maybe not so much the offensive line, but Crystal has done a really good job of filling every gap and then their guys staying in those gaps.
They have a really fundamental defense and they've just had penetration by their tackles all game, but they've ruined a lot of the gladiator plays before they ever really got going.
And
they do it up the middle first.
As long as you're in, do what they need to do, there's nowhere
to go.
There's nowhere to go.
All right, Puzzles in the shotgun.
First down at 15th, all to the 17th to give us a homestorm right hand side.
Got a little bit of room.
He's hard to bring down.
It
takes a
group.
He got himself maybe five there.
Probably to the original line of scrimmage.
See where they spot this one.
Gonna be second down at 10, give him a gain of five there.
He's one of those with a head of steam you don't want to meet.
He's
a big kid.
He's not real tall, but he's got some weight to him.
during
I didn't think he was going to be much of a basketball player, but I was pretty effective rebounder.
He played pretty well.
Good athlete.
All right, Buzzel is under center this time.
Holmes from M-Pole backs.
Paboula at tail to give this to Paboula.
He's up the middle gain of a few again.
It's going to be third down.
We have a terrible angle on that so it's hard to say what.
Probably 3rd and 5th would be my guess.
A little bit longer.
Give him a gain of 4 there.
Give him a gain of 3.
Even 3rd down and 7th.
There is 4 minutes left in this game.
Glad he was trail big.
44 to 6th.
I'd like to see him punch it in though.
Build a little bit of confidence here.
It doesn't seem like they're really trying to rush through and run a bunch of plays either.
I think they're kind of content to run out the clock as well.
We got 340 to go, here they go, 3rd and 7th.
Got a wide-out to the right-hand side, is Brodie Majurin.
Obula is going to be in a shock instead, Holmstrom slightly behind him, one in a motion.
Give this to Holmstrom, right-hand side, he's got a few again.
He wrestles his way near the first down, he's going to be short.
See the chain gang's not really moving, there he goes.
Going to be 4th down and 2th.
Big shocker if they go for this one, I'm thinking.
Oh my god.
Well, I think the only two main kickers they got have been kind of taken out of the game.
That takes away some of the options.
We're under three to go.
It's a fourth down and two.
Balls at the five yard line.
Come on, Gladz.
Get this one in there.
See Holmstrom out there moinin' at the running back position.
Moinin's going to line up as a wing right side.
Shotgun set, and Buzzal is going to try to throw a rolling right.
Throwing right, and he's got a man, but it's picked off, I think.
Yes, it is.
Trojans with an interception near the goal line.
We're never going to figure out who it was, but I can't see that far, but good play defensively there by the Trojans.
Buzzal
again, he's got a rock.
Yeah, Buzzal, he just hasn't had any time, any play.
It's going to be a running clock, so this game is going to end fairly rapidly.
The score is 44 to 6.
What a nice score there, just to end on something to look back on.
But the drive as a whole wasn't bad.
It was
ended by a fake punt.
Had a couple nice first downs there.
I think three first downs on that possession.
That was their best.
The same drive all game.
Definitely the most plays they ran in a drive.
Fortunately, I see your brother sitting on the grass.
Hopefully he's okay.
Over there talking to Brody Babula, and I see Josh is down there.
Josh drew, that would be the 80.
We've got 140 to go, and the Trojans are not rushing to go anywhere, and I see they're going to have to call timeout.
The play clock is about to run out on them.
So it's 135 and counting to go.
44 to 6 is your score.
Let's come back in 30 seconds.

right on the clock, 90 seconds to go.
Give right hand side for very little, wrestled down by a bunch of gladiators.
What do you got there?
You're thinking number 20?
You've got it.
Number 20 is Isaac Williams.
Short gain, right hand side.
He's got 115 here to go.
Give him a gain of two.
It'll be second down in the eighth of all.
It's at the four yard line.
I did see some stuff I liked though.
I thought the gladiators, they tackled well.
They tackled low.
He does them good defense.
In the air.
I
had defense.
Yeah, I had defense.
I thought it was good.
Good.
I mean, they
got beat a couple of times, but I think they just got outplayed in
that regard.
Two interceptions, too, though.
So that defensively, they did OK.
Offensively, they just didn't do enough, and they just got tired, I think, with a big factor in them.
Yeah.
Just keep the left hand side.
Again, it's a big pile down there, and I can't really see anything.
We're going to go 40 seconds left.
It's going to be a short game.
Yeah, I mean,
Forest Park, they had how many guys?
carries the ball, maybe five, six,
maybe
even seven or eight.
I mean, they've had a lot of guys carry the ball.
And it's been primarily the same nine, 10 on defense that has to stop each one of those guys over and over.
It wears on you.
It absolutely does.
This is going to be a victory formation play, and they are going to kneel.
The final score in this one is going to be 44 to six.
I thought they got that two points, but that's the stuff them on that last one.
I'll take away that two-point conversion on the last possession.
The score is 44 to 6, and that's going to end game one.
And we're going to come back and do a post-game show provided by 906 Services in Ansonaga.
Give me a couple of minutes to put the scoring together.
We'll be back for the post-game show in three minutes.

And before we forget to, we got to do a player of the game.
I think we kind of know who that's going to be.
But we'll go through the scoring in the second half.
Brody Babu had the oldest score for the Gladiators.
He scored a 75 yard touchdown in the second quarter.
Second half scoring.
Vic Giuliani threw a touchdown pass to John.
I have it as a 23 yarder making 36 to six.
And then it was Star that was their fullback.
Noah Star scored the two point conversion to make it 38 to six.
The only other score in the second half was John Giuliani scored a 35-yard touchdown run.
So John actually scored three times, two in the air, one on the ground.
Brother Vic threw two touchdowns and ran for one.
I don't know.
Just play the game.
I'm just going to go, I'm going to go Giuliani, brothers.
How do you just differentiate?
They're both, they both are kind of equal.
Yeah, one A, one B kind of in that regard.
They, I thought they played well with each other.
Of course.
I mean, there's a connection there.
There was a little chemistry, I'll give him that.
And then Dex, who he also played well, he didn't really get the ball in the second half, I
think.
They didn't need him,
Mike.
He
might have got a carrier too, but they really just went with that rotation and just keep their guys fresh.
I thought they had a good game play.
And the Trojans definitely were the better team tonight.
There's just no way around that.
I did see some positive stuff from the Gladys, so I liked how they tackled.
I saw your brother played really good defense.
He caused two turnovers, really.
Picked out one pass and tipped one to Brody.
I thought Holmstrom did well tackling, good low tackling too.
I mean, not too high or not grabbing at the collars.
No, I don't think their
issue is necessarily missed tackles.
I think they just got out executed a lot and that was really the issue.
It wasn't sloppy tackling.
That wasn't a problem at all.
I mean, what do you think for the future of this team?
We got them playing Calumet next weekend here.
I've never seen no play.
I don't want to have any idea what this team is.
So it's hard to say if they're going to be good or bad or in between.
I think the gladiator offense is going to have to play significantly better.
I think their defense played at least OK this evening.
The score might not show that, but that's what I saw.
Yeah,
the defense played better and, I mean, not late in the game once they got worn down, but that second, third quarter, they did do something very well.
Especially up front, I thought they played a lot better in those two quarters.
Yeah, I totally agree.
All right, I think that's about us for us in the 906 services not talking post-game shows will be off the WPY radio 44 to 6 the final Trojans wins.
Thank you.

Thanks Cole.

He's in for the touchdown.
Let's go out to the play-by-play with Rod Helverson on WJMS.
Good afternoon football fans from Cardinal Athletic Field in Wakefield.
It's boys high school football as the North Central Jets coming to town to take on the Goodgiver minors.
I'm Rod Helverson alongside Randy Charles.
The golden voice of Randy is back for another year.
No, it's Rod with the golden voice.
Randy's just here.
Wow, Rod, I finally get to watch a game.
You've done two games already and you're just way out ahead of me there.
So yeah, good to get, maybe I'll get caught up.
I'm like, yeah, you're right.
This is my third game.
Feel like I'm in midseason already.
You are.
What the heck?
But that's kind of neat.
You got to cover all the area teams in one weekend.
Well, that's true.
That's a really neat thing.
Well, over two weeks early.
Yeah,
over two weeks.
Yeah, but it's not even Saturday yet.
So you got everything covered.
No.
Yeah.
And so far, the local teams are undefeated.
start covering soccer pretty quick I suppose.
Early with the big overtime win last night, 20 to 14 and then ironing with the big victory over Florence 51 to 52 to 15.
Congratulations to those teams.
Yeah
now if we can get the same thing on the minors tonight we'll be really good.
Yeah it should be a nice night for football early start since there's no lights at Cardinal Field and no school in North Central or
Go give it.
So they decide to play this game at five.
Well, I don't think they had a choice.
I shouldn't say decided.
Yeah, if they're going to play in the way trial, they better play either on a Saturday or early on a Friday.
And the rest better get this game moving right away.
Because the lights here don't work that well.
We got two flashlights in the side over there in the
side.
That's it.
So
everybody can hold up their cell phone and it gets that far.
But, yeah, what time does the sun go down around 7.30?
Yeah, it starts getting, the sun will go down around 7.30, but it starts getting dark about quarter to eight or so.
Right.
I checked, really, I checked that last night just to see when it started to get
dull.
It's
a little noisy press box right now.
A lot of people coming and going, yeah, we do.
It's like Grand Central Station here.
But miners, could I be dealing with some injuries and one injury?
of importance randy is the quarterback jayden barrett you know that guy was all you'd be consideration
last year he was definitely going to be big time this year being injured we don't know for sure how long he's open we're watching him beforehand we're commenting on a result thrown the ball and everything but
You said he had surgery on his left shoulder.
He was catching it well and everything like that, so he looked okay.
The only thing they're worried about is if he plays and he has contact on that shoulder until he gets clearance.
Jason and I went to that midnight scrimmage and I'll tell you what, he is the fastest guy in the team.
He just goes up and down that field so smoothly.
But that's going to be a big loss.
And then they got some other injuries that are out there.
Corey Aspenwald is not suited up tonight.
I don't think, I haven't seen his number.
He wears 23 and I have not seen 23 in the warm-ups.
But I don't see 23 on the sidelines either.
So I'm not sure if Corey is out there.
And we'll see how the game develops.
So Gygivik's going to go with
Decent quarterback, junior Bryson Lainott.
Six foot, 155 pound junior and he throws a real nice ball.
I was watching him in practice and he can air it out for 40, 45 yards and he's got the two backs are going to be Caden Haru and Henry Jenkins and those, well Jason and I went to the scrimmage last Friday and those guys got some speed and that's of course Avan football Randy has built a lot of wrong speed.
That's exactly right.
When you're missing Jaden Barrett, probably one of the fastest, if not the fastest guy in the UP.
You're missing a lot already, and you take him out of there, but you're right.
Those guys, both are you and Henry Jackson, Jenkins, excuse me, have really good speed.
We saw it last year.
They
had a lot of playing time.
That's what it's going to be.
The team has experience coming back, but they sure lost a key number of players off this minor's team from last year's.
Only eight of them.
Yeah, just eight.
Okay, never mind.
I thought it was a lot.
Seven-man football.
They only lost eight guys.
That's it.
When you look at when you look at the Jaden Verrett out with an injury and then you take out the entire offensive line That's that's what I've done.
That's key that line.
They're gone and then the running backs Mildjevic and Hollenbeck Aiden Partner now wide receiver and Matthew Schweitzer on defense Matt Schweitzer all over the field.
Oh my gosh He got to be like our just it was like a cult following for us just watching him so so
Jason, we went to a scrimmage last Friday.
Gogebic looked good.
My mindset was, okay, we know Ironwood is young and a little bit smaller, but Ironwood looked very good last night against maybe a not very good Florence team, hard to judge.
But when I saw Ironwood performing on offense, I got a better feel for the way the miners looked at that scrimmage.
I think coach Edvington Hurley had a really good point on all that.
He said that maybe after week three or week four, you can start to use comparative scores and how teams look against each other to see where teams might be.
It's really hard to tell after a scrimmage or after the first week.
Yeah.
And I guess that's why I'm a little not sure what to think of these teams yet.
I don't think Florence was that good.
They had a real tall quarterback, a good size quarterback.
He had two, six, four receivers.
But they only had one big play and that was a 64 yard touchdown pass and actually it was the running back that threw it to the quarterback and that's pretty much their office.
The game was called at the end of third quarter because Florence suited up 14 players and the only had eight left and the coach down by 35 at that point running clock just said, can we be done?
I don't want to lose any more players.
We've got conference games coming up.
So they agreed last night to end it early, which was probably I think one kid from Florence went to the hospital.
So
hard to judge.
Too early to judge, isn't it?
They're here at 23 out there, but he's not suited up.
He is out there.
But he's not suited up.
Okay.
Corey is in street clothes.
You got 23
and four of both out there as captains.
Hopefully they'll be back soon.
Here's what I remember of North Central last year.
Now they lost
I think, I know they lost their quarterback, but this running back, Caden Malone, a little speech there, right?
Yeah.
Yeah, he was a little speech there.
Jason's just nodding his head.
Like, that's an understatement.
And the other guy that came in late in that game, in Vezmar last year, I think it was Pryor Levante, was another good running back.
So those guys there, those two guys, I think we're going to hear a lot about.
They don't have the positions on here.
They don't have the size on here.
All we have is names, numbers, and grades.
So, any idea who their quarterback might be?
Do you, I know you talked to
Corzinsk?
Uh, TIPCORN, Nathan TIPCORN, I believe, is quarterback senior.
Okay.
North Central doesn't really rebuild, though.
They just kind of reload.
Right, yeah.
There's
always,
there's a couple teams that do that.
So, and actually,
uh... forget it is kind of rebuilding they got kaden harry was the only starter right now from last year but they had a decent jv team and they got some size in the line a little bit uh... inexperience they moved uh... dennis elam i think he was a receiver last year i know he's some of the kicking in that norway game they're gonna move him on into the the line he's in marty's open areas he's a good size kid
So that's going to help them there.
And Felix Miller, he's been playing quite a bit.
He's a junior.
He's a six-foot, 300-pound junior.
And he's going to be the center.
He's going to be the anchor of that offensive line.
But we said this last year about Crystal Falls.
Crystal Falls had some good athletes.
But their line was suspect.
And they ended up one and eight.
Good work, Scott, some good athletes.
But their line is inexperienced this year.
Well, and the other thing that happened to Christopher last year is everybody got hurt and that's kind of what's been happening to the minors and the pre-season with all their injuries.
But hopefully they don't get any more than get some guys back here.
They've got on their roster, they've got three 300 pounders on Gugovic's roster, the 300 pound plus.
And I don't know, especially there's a carpenter, I don't know who's actually starting, we're going to find out when they get out there.
But that's not bad when you can have three guys at 300 pounds.
Yeah, I think Damien, and I heard this Damien may start at one of the guard spots.
And Felix Miller, I think, will be the senior.
I think he'll not go down and get started in line-ups.
Here, we would just do that as the game develops.
But
Randy, I haven't seen you since basketball season.
How you been?
You know what?
I've been okay.
How are you, Rod?
I've been okay.
I've seen you.
Where did we see you?
I saw you after you got back from... Oh, we did.
We did.
Girls
softball, fastball.
That's where it was.
That's right.
It wasn't bad.
We went to Marathon, didn't we?
Yeah, we did.
We did it early, too.
Memory is good, but it's kind of short.
Well, yeah.
All right, so you had a good summer and now you're ready for football.
Summer went fast.
Oh my god, didn't go fast for me
anyway.
Just flew by.
What a beautiful setting tonight.
I just love where we sit here.
Sit here at this field.
You look out at just a beautifully contoured field in great shape.
You got Sunday Lake in the background and
you
got Rod and Jason in the booth with you.
What else could you need?
The one complaint I heard so far from different people is the geese from the ducks.
They were living on this field a lot this year.
They had to get them off, for sure.
But they left something behind.
A lot of nitrogen from the soil.
So I know the miners practiced down here.
I think they came down and worked with the JV team.
junior high team and I heard that the field is well they very
well they had
to do
some raking and they did some heavy watering the last week and a half years
yes we got a straight from the the field manager okay Holly Jacobson all right yeah other than that it looks very considering the lack of rain we've had yeah it is very green so Jason how about the early game last night went into overtime
Some did like a Hurley first half and a Labino-Layano second half.
Yeah, sure was.
They would have had the momentum going into overtime but Hurley was able to pick off the first pass in overtime and then scoring when they had the ball.
So a big confidence win for them.
That was probably their toughest game of the year.
another one tough one coming up this year or this week with Phillips
yeah and in high school football they would they just keep playing overtime until there's a winner how does that work or just one overtime no you keep going okay and nothing like an overtime game when you're already like 140 miles away
from home right
I thought these games were supposed to be a closer an eight player and keep getting further I don't
they
traded Gransberg on the on the
Western and early on the eastern end.
Well, what we don't still have a little closer than Grandsburg, I think, but maybe not.
So they redid.
They redid the conferences, actually both conferences that were familiar with Leonel Abino, Elko, White Lake and three Lakes Phelps all joined the Hurley conference.
They kicked out who?
Athens, Flambeau and one other one.
Okay.
and then this conference here yeah this one added some yeah this one this has to be the toughest conference you know in the state I mean we say it every year and it's not going to change you know they added new teams we have the added municine dish priming and um what's the other one I can't think about municine dish priming and gosh why am I drawing my drawing again
but they put all the biggest schools in this one
And all the best ones, too, so it's quite a gauntlet.
They call it the West and they got immunocene.
What are they doing in the western side of the conference?
Well, they're west of Sault Ste.
Marie.
That's true.
That must be why.
Yeah,
I can't think of the 13, though.
It's coming, immunocene, and gosh, why am I drawing the blank on that?
All right, we're getting set for the national anthem.
We're going to send it back to these

Alright, back here in Wakefield.
We are getting set for the opening kickoff.
Beautiful day for football.
We had jet skis on the water.
We did.
They were out there running quite a while, but it looks like the north central will be kicking off.
Right away the miners get a chance to drop first blood.
I'm going to open the window, but if the wind gets too...
bad into our headsets.
I'll end up closing it because it was really windy when I don't think the wind is going to go away either.
So Randy, what who are you going to do?
Are you going to do a good pick stance?
Yeah,
I'll just follow our same routine unless you rather do it differently.
It does not matter to me.
I got north central.
All right, ball is teed up and who's back for Jenkins?
Henry Jenkins is back deep.
Fact that he's standing about the 16 yard line and it looks like number 20 Alan Hull is set to kick
off.
Oh, final Alan Hull.
Difficult
Hull though.
Or holy is holy.
It's a squibber and it's going to bounce up to 35 and roll out of bounds and I think the kids will get all in the 40 yard line and I think that's where they
slide.
Your kick goes out of bounds just beyond the 30 yard line.
Miners first in 10.
First in 10 where?
I'm sure it's 40.
I think you're right to it.
Now they're marching up to 30.
What the heck's going on here?
Why are they?
Yeah, they should get it.
I think it's up to 35.
Yeah, let's see you say it's already touched it, but nobody touched it.
No, nobody touched it.
It went out of bounds.
Well, the official was marked.
He was still standing right where it went out of bounds.
No, it's 35 yard line then.
Okay.
Well, we don't know.
That's like Mike Schwartz, Mike Schwartz senior, Budgie, Iowa.
Mike
Schwartz, Jr.
and maybe
Andrew DiGiorgio for sure and then I don't know who the fifth is.
Alright so first in 10 they spotted at the 35 yard line that's where the miners will start and it looks like Felix Miller is the starting center number 65.
Line up the quarterback and handoff goes to Jenkins for a loss of about one.
Jenkins is a 5'7", 145 pound senior.
It
looked like he had an opportunity.
It looked like an opening in the line, but by the time he got to the line, it was filled.
He's got some speed.
If he can get outside, he's fast.
He and RU both back there, they can show off some speed.
When they have not downgrading line out at all, but when they have red in there, they have the fastest
back there, so fast as many would
it be.
Lionel Lone in the shotgun sends Harju in motion.
Here's a hand up to Harju.
Turns to the corner.
He's at the 40-45.
Oh, one by the shoestring tackle.
Wow.
Harju, one guy got beat, and you're right, Randy.
It was a shoestring tackle.
That guy just reached out for something, and he caught Caden Harju by the shoelace.
But it's a pickup of 20 yards.
All right, first down for the miners inside North Central Territory.
Fall on the 46 yard line.
Give you a couple numbers here as we get them.
Carder, well that's a little wide left.
Haru and Jenkins in the slot.
Jenkins goes in motion and the line-up's going to keep it up the middle and just
like
his brother did
a couple years
ago, straight ahead, head down.
And he picks up about six yards.
It's got to be genetics.
See how he becomes from a quarterback family.
Yeah.
Picked up.
Looks like five yards.
Maybe six even now.
Maybe six even
now.
Maybe six even now.
Maybe six even now.
Maybe six even now.
Maybe
six even now.
Maybe six even now.
Maybe six even now.
Maybe six even now.
Maybe six even now.
Maybe six even now.
Maybe six even now.
Maybe six even now.
Maybe six even now.
Maybe six even now.
Maybe six even now.
Maybe six even now.
Maybe six even now.
Maybe six even now.
Maybe six even now.
Maybe six even now.
Maybe six even now.
Maybe six even now.
Maybe six even now.
Maybe six even now.
Maybe six even now.
Maybe six even now.
Maybe six even now.
Maybe six even
now.
Maybe six even now.
Maybe six even now.
Maybe
six even now.
Maybe six even now.
So it's going to be a completion or loss of about three.
Yeah, well roll backwards.
Well, luckily it did roll backwards.
Rolled away from the Japs.
The
loss of three, we'll give them on
that one.
62 is okay.
Damien and Nipnit.
I got to get that.
Nipnit?
Nipnit.
That's what they told me was problems, and I believe Dennis Elam is the other lineman was the only name I didn't really know on that whole team Are you in motion?
Why not?
The middle right off and he will get the first down north
central jet bit on the
fake handoff to hard you coming across The backfield line up faked it and kept it What do you get about ten yard game in your game another first down for the miners other first down They what this has got to make the miners feel good
You're going to get a really good team and you've got a sustained drive going here.
Just keep it going though.
Finish it off.
Now Haru will line up alongside line up in the backfield.
I wouldn't be surprised if they sometimes go to like a direct snap.
Jenkins in motion.
Quick hitter up the middle through Haru.
And he's getting the line.
He talked about the line being inexperienced right now.
They're controlling the line of scrimmage.
They're getting that quick hitter up there.
They're busting through before they have a chance to before that line has a chance to react.
He picked up a good four yards on Ellen Just on the way here 933 to go first quarter down inside
the 30 yard line
second and second and six Line up stays in the shotgun.
How are you off to his right?
Line up's gonna roll out quick pass to hard you coming on the back, you know, then Hardy is gonna pick up the first
down
6-7 yards on that pickup.
Ball was on the 29.
Where's it now?
They're
giving it a right down the 29
yard pickup.
Yeah, I
was waiting for it to see where they put it too.
First and 10 on the 20.
Mine was great to huddle.
And how are you split out as a wing back on the right?
And number
10 is, isn't that?
Why not?
Why not?
Now, in motion, Jenkins at quarterback, Jenkins going to keep it, and North Central is not fooled on that
one.
Maybe he got one yard.
Half yard or
one yard.
New
formation to try to mix things up a little bit.
27 to go here.
All on the Jets 19 yard line Miner's facing a second and nine You can see with the speed that the
miners have if they can just break that first Contact
or get around that first contact.
They've had lots of room Are you in motion and up goes to how are you
very?
When
if he's flipped on some of that duck stuff loose
Goose.
He's
lost about a yard on that one.
So brings up third and... After all, third and ten, isn't it?
Even a little more.
Yeah, maybe third and eleven.
Well, ten or eleven, you're right, though,
right?
It's a
little more than ten, but not quite eleven, so we'll call it ten or a half.
I don't think that works.
Ten and a half.
That's what they call a long ten, right?
Yeah.
Well, here's the first real big play,
the miners of...
head this game Jenkins goes in motion line up going to go up the middle did he get all of us Jets read that one tried to go off the little right side
right at the line of scrimmage it looks
like and
he lost
two
more yards on that yes
so
the miner is facing a fourth and twelve now on the Jets 22 yard line oh boy I tell you what first couple plays look pretty easy but
I would assume they'll go for it.
Jet's defense.
Skipping up here.
We might see a nice pass here, Rod.
Why not can throw it?
So I'm in practice a couple of times.
It does a nice pass.
Of course, that was with no rush, obviously.
Well, that's a little bit out wide left.
Johnson wide right.
Baxter in the slots.
Why not pass?
To Haru and the Jet's defense.
Holds the minors and they will take over first in ten on their own 22 yard line When they gobbled up a bunch of that quarter,
so it's
635
left We'll see if you got those names down Rod where Rod excel so he really does I always say that I mean that whether it's basketball or football or anything Rod picks up the the opposing team that we haven't seen all year he always picks them up quickly real quickly so
That's a talent.
Jets are all in tight
where they are bunched right in there.
Going straight up the middle and that goes to number two and that is prior LeBonte.
Prior LeBonte we saw him last year in the second half of that game he looked good.
When he came in.
Yeah he got a lot of speed I remember that and I remember Caden Malone is the other speedster on this team.
Quarterback is Nathan Pipcorn.
That
number 28 is in there for the Jets.
Carter Farley.
He gets him six yards on that one run.
I gave him
five.
Whatever you gave him, that's
good.
Scoreboard says four.
I'm going with five.
Tight formation.
Handoff goes to...
Oh!
LeBonte
again and...
Adam Everson just grabbing by the foot.
There's
a quick claim to 35 yard line first down
First down for north-central and LeBonte picked up 12 yards on two carries and he almost broke that one
Yeah, you did like said Adam Everson just grabbed him by the red by
the ankle.
He was the last person had a chance at him the point goes under center Then tight formation
Hicklarn keeps it, goes right side, he's wrapped up.
Well that defensive end, that defender came up there
quick.
That was
Drew Johnson, really filled the hole nice on this side.
He came from the linebacker spot and came up there, gave him a nice pop.
Pick up of two yards, make it second and eight, ball on the Jets 37 there, line five, 16 to go first quarter.
Jets going away from the high school, heading towards the east end zone.
And they stay in that tight formation.
Two tight ends.
Two backs in tight.
Quarterback under center.
Quarterback's going to keep it.
Looking for a room on the left side.
Now it's a pitch out to Malone.
Is that Malone?
Okay, Malone, yes.
And he's going to pick up yardage, but short of the first down.
I don't know how he got around that end.
I thought they had that end sealed
off.
The
last 44
yard line.
Third down.
Pick up a five from alone.
Third two, third
and
three.
Not third and three.
The big guy at Nibbent just came off the sideline here.
And off goes up the middle and it's going to be a first down for the Jets.
Well nothing fancy here, just straight ahead.
Just trying to gain it by another two yard, about a
four
yard run
there.
He's got a Jets first down.
Not sure who carried that.
Is that number?
Is that
number two?
I think it was number two.
All I saw was a mass of humanity.
Yeah,
it jumped up so fast.
I didn't even think it was number.
Yeah, it was one of those two backs and it was two.
Yep.
I had my eye on my name.
We broke the huddle.
I could see where it was number two.
So instead of down through the jet, there's a pitch out to the loan, breaks a tackle and he's going to
get
About three yards.
Somebody on defense had a shot at him in the back.
Drew Johnson had a shot at him
about three, four yards deep, but he just made a nice little side step and went right around him.
Being
a long three on
that one.
335 to go here in the quarter.
The wind is actually behind.
Which way is the wind blowing?
Behind the jets, but they haven't passed it anyway.
Quarterback Keeper, we got a penalty flag.
We got a false start on
the flag on the flag.
Full third, second, the Jets.
So we'll all back the Jets up five yards.
Make it a second and 12.
Ball moved back to the, on the Jets side of the field, back to the 47.
We
can
put a little more pressure on that running game of theirs too.
They've been living on four and five yard genes.
You
don't have sizes on Jets.
We just have to use our imagination.
Yeah.
Some of them are big and some are bigger.
No.
Yes.
Fifth Corn's going to go under center again.
Got Lobanti right behind him.
Nice formation.
And Fifth Corn's going to keep it.
Roll out.
He's a left-handed quarterback and got a guy wide open on the left
flat.
Riley Crease.
Miners finally catch up with them.
There's a north-central named
Creedence.
You're not
going
to
catch them up and take them down.
The 47... You don't know where they marked them there.
...brings
it all the way down to the Miners
side.
The 16
yard line.
That's 30, 34.
That's 37 yard completion.
And a first down.
He wide open.
Wow.
Yeah, he got the end of the entrance.
Whatever
they did to get him open, it was...
Little laps in the defense there, but again, this is the first game.
First in 10 for the Jets on the Miners 16 yard line.
See if the Miners defense can stop this drive just as the Jets defense did to the Miners.
Andoff goes off to LeBonte and he...
Andoff to LeBonte?
Well,
he just keeps those legs moving
and pounding.
He's locked up by the D line of the Miners.
Part of a little vent getting in there.
Pick up with about four
yards.
Well, that was a tackle on that one inside.
There's a second and sixth ball on the 11-yard line.
Pipcorn under center, Lombon, Lombon can be right behind him and keep him alone and wing back off to the left.
Pipcorn's going to keep it straight ahead, following his blockers and he's going to be close to a first down.
Picks up
a
handful of
yards No, it's way shorter
than what I thought it was.
You got three yards left yet.
Third and three, they're on about the eight yard line it looks like.
All seven maybe?
Okay, where
were it says seven.
Mike says eight and I don't think so.
We'll go with
one of those.
That's a seven or
eight yard
line.
I think at the same angle we have.
Pipcorn stays under center alone the wing back with Auntie Pipcorn is going to keep it straight ahead needed three.
I don't know if he
got any The official through the bag down
We don't know who recovered the fumble
But that's not really important other than we can't say anything.
Miners stop the drive.
And that was on the six yard line.
So that's where the miners will
start.
First and ten on their own six yard line.
Well, two drives, one drive for each team.
Sports guys from Marquette area down on the sidelines minor sidelines Why not going to keep it and
you got an open field needs a
block and get up to the 20
I
thought
he
should
have cut that outside.
He could have a wide receiver could have thrown that block and got up to it He was there, but he was kind of watching them instead of hitting that defender, but that was tremendous game.
Yes That's big you know from your own goal line get away from the goal line out
to the 20 yard line already.
What's the time we got in the clock?
I can't see it.
47 seconds.
I thought it had to be getting close.
Fast quarter, 19 minute quarters.
When you get running
quarters like that, I mean, a running game,
there's
only actually one in completion in the game.
Jenkins in motion, line out straight ahead, no positive yard.
Not very much.
That
should be the last play of the quarter.
We're down to 15 seconds.
I don't think Yeah, I think looks like I close gonna take his time calling this play So that will do it for quarter number one No score here from Wakefield.
We're not at that zero.
We'll be back in one minute with second quarter action
in-stock new trucks.
Up to $1,000 in chamber dollars with every vehicle purchase.
$59.95 synthetic oil changes.
This is not a sale.
This is a can't miss event at Marth dollar Honda trade of Ashen.
We're just like the view, the sale is superior.
What does it mean to be locally owned and operated?
For Cinex, it means everything.
It means that we know if you take your coffee to go, or if you like to stay a while.
It means we've helped Little Leagues get jerseys and local festivals get funding.
It means we know what our communities need.
So you'll always leave Cinex with a full tank, full of snacks, or full of smiles.
Or all of the above.
And that means the world to us.
Cinex, powered locally.
All right back here in Lakefield, Randy and Rod bringing you football on a Friday afternoon.
Miners coming up with a big fumble recovery at their own six yard line and they turn the Jets away on the Jets first drive and now the Miners in their second drive.
We'll face a second and eight ball on the minor 22 yard line as we are set to start quarter number two.
That was a fast
What if they all go like that, Rod?
We'll be out here by six o'clock.
We
won't have to worry about lights.
That's true.
Packers play tonight too, don't they?
I don't care about pre-season at all.
Play all the guys that won't be there next week.
That's
exactly
what you're going to
see.
It means absolutely nothing.
You're playing guys that aren't going to be in the NFL against guys that aren't going to be in the NFL.
Or they might be on another team as a last player.
I'll start again.
Let's go give
it.
That's their first penalty of the
day.
I'll back them up five yards for teams with one penalty so far the ball back on the 17 yard line now it's second in 13 I Believe it's the same miners out there that were there for the first drive Johnson split out wide right.
Well that goes out wide left Why not alone in the shotgun?
Jenkins all goes in motion I Know with a fake to Jenkins keeps it himself and he might not eat man.
I picked up two yards We'll give him you on that one
right away 13 There 13
those
two we
were right.
Let's do it.
Okay.
Yes big play here for the miners
We have Mike Grayson, if you hear the announcement, he's the on field announcer for the team, does a great job.
The speaker's right here right outside our window.
That's why you hear part of it.
Yeah.
All right, dude, the one thing I want to do here on 3rd and 13th, back in the shadow of a goal post, pass complete to Jenkins.
Oh, I'm dead of feet.
He couldn't get by him, but that's also the fault of the yard
23 yard pickup.
Jenkins, beautiful route
by
Jenkins.
When he turned,
that ball was right there.
What a nice pass by it.
First in 10 for the minors, actually they spotted on the 39.
I said 40, but his knee must have went out on the
39.
That's
a
39 and a half even, so we're going to call it the 40 for now.
Who set a balance for the miners?
39
and three quarters.
He's got some running room, 50, 45, breaks it back, breaks the tackle, and he's inside the 30 yard line.
Nice run by Caden, are you?
Right up the middle.
From the 40, where did they mark him?
At the 30, just inside there, okay.
41 yards.
Nice run.
Took it up the middle and then cut out to the right and he made a nice move on the defender but give the other defensive
player
credit because
he came over and caught him just not from the side there
when he was
making the move.
I thought he had it for a moment there.
I thought he was gone.
When he had to juke the one guy out, the other guy came from the side and caught
him.
Nice run.
Terrific run.
Well blocked.
He had nobody touch him.
First in ten minors on the jet 29-yard line Jenkins football wide left now Why not go out?
This is Johnson as a quarterback on
the plate, and
I think we're gonna have a hold
We're gonna have a hold on that left end, but we're gonna wait.
Yep.
It is hold.
I actually saw him grab it.
It's
It doesn't matter who it was, but but Jude Johnson with his
quarterback on that
play.
Yeah really mixing it up
keeping me off balance even they tried to hold the the defensive end so you could get around
and
he had
to
get a big chunk
of the uniform so
first in 20 ball back on the north central 39 yard line and see what kind of formation they come out with this time number 46 is in the ball again Dennis Elon is at the left or right guard
Bovette in tight on the right side Looks like line up back at quarterback line up active fast Oh, we got a middle and he had Bovette out there.
Well, that
lost it Yeah, I think he kind of lost it in the air, but it was there's a little bit overthrown to buddy I don't I don't think he expected it because he almost like he quit running at first there and then he was out
there
in
front of had an opportunity Brings up a second in 20
10-10 to go, second quarter.
Johnson splits out wide left, Bovet goes out wide left.
Why not?
Look at that ball get in, Bovet 10 a couple times.
He's a big strong kid.
Yes, he has got some speed out at the wide receiver.
Whoa!
There's a
ball that went right.
I think he
got it back.
No, he
didn't.
He fumbled it and he recovered.
They
recovered on the
Cardinal 49 even.
I'm not sure.
It looked like why not.
Took a step up and the ball went over his, the snap went over his head.
Well, it definitely went over his head.
You're
right
about that.
And you're right.
He stepped forward like he was going to take a shorter snap.
There might have been a little miscommunication, but it was still, even if he was back there, it still was quite high because he's not a,
he's not a seven footer.
So now the miners have fumbled, and the Jets take over on Gogevix 49 yard line.
So Jets start their second drive in good field position.
Pipcorn, handoff, goes to Malone, I think it is.
Yes, Malone.
Cane up the hole in the ball carrier.
Little bit of room to the left side, picks up a few yards.
Picks up four yards, yep.
Second or
six?
camera all over the sidelines out here, Rod.
Let's
be a lot of interest in this game.
Pipcorn on a rollout, now a pitch to Malone, and he's wrapped up, and he never washed a yard.
Henry
Jenkins and I'm trying to see what the other person was on that end.
I'm just waiting for the turn to move a little bit Jenkins Jenkins was one of them and seven It was Drew Johnson Jenkins and Johnson team
up
Jason's here from the goal John Branthix here on the minor sideline.
He's from the Escanabe area
There's photographers all
over the mark kept guys
Don't you know who the one is in front of us to there, so Back to pass under a rush a boy lose one play now.
He's got a guy out there in the field.
That's Maloney is going to probably score.
Are you chasing him touchdown?
Wow, he broke that tackle nicely and Showed his feet there.
Here it is.
Once you broke that one tackle.
It's gone.
I just remember his speech from last year
I thought, are you and Jenkins both had good angles on him and he broke the one tackle and he was gone.
Pipcorn to Malone for a 47 yard touchdown pass with 8.37 to go here in the second quarter and more central draws first blood.
Was it 8.47 you said?
No.
8.37?
8.37, okay.
Jets will go for two.
Now Pipcorn's in the shotgun.
The hand up goes to, no he's going to keep it from around the left side and he's in for the two point conversion with 837 to go first quarter.
It's north central, second quarter, they put 14 on the board.
It's eight nothing, hoping it's 47 to go in the second quarter.
We'll be back in
30 seconds with the Jets kickoff.

Back here in Wakeville 837 ago In the second quarter and the jets draw first blood here on a nice pass from Pipcorn out to Malone for speedy back He had one cat one kind of beat he spun out of that tackle and once he got his speed going down the sidelines Not to be caught So time for the miners to answer they put some drives together, but
Stalled on the last two.
Here's the run-up in the kick.
It's a squibber, takes the high balls, and controls by the back over there on the minor side.
You know, that could have been a penalty in that play.
It should have been.
The minor went down, he just fell on it, recovered it, Drew Johnson recovered it, and
then that guy came and hit
him.
Didn't hit him very hard, but that shouldn't matter.
He had good contact with him.
Yeah, he's already down.
He's already down.
Yeah, he's giving himself up completely laying on the ground and that's a dead player right there.
Exactly.
High school.
So 1st and 10 on the 35 still shows 14 on the scoreboard.
He's trying to fix it.
He's working on it right now.
I went around to him anyway.
He's,
yeah, we know we're trying to fix it.
Yeah, I better give him space.
All
right, here we go.
1st and 10 miners on their own 35 yards by.
With their 3rd Surrey North Central on its time off, we'll take a break as well.
We're still at 837 of the 2nd quarter.
8 nothing.

All right, back here in a week.
As we come out of the timeout, North Central didn't like something that the miners are showing on offense, and quickly called the timeout before the miners get a snap.
How much time was on the clock, Rod?
8.37.
Oh, OK.
That didn't take for a long time.
No, it's been there for a long time.
But the scoreboard does show 8.00 up the
mill.
Yep,
they were able to correct it.
He's having a tough time for a little while.
Got her figured out.
Okay, why not in motion?
Jenkins is going to keep it and he's wrapped up and he's going to be thrown for a four-yard loss.
Yep, said that one red.
They did, and
he had no hope, but by the time he started to run to the side,
the defender was on him.
Things up a second and 14.
Fall back on the miners 31 yard line
Well
Now
we
better
pull one of their good runs out of their bag of tricks here to Some
good
play anyway got a game some yards here in this
second don't play why not quick pass into the Little bubble screen off to the left side.
Are you buried under us?
He danced around he had two guys missing, but they had everybody that was a gang tackle there run the defense eight guys
and birds on Haru.
He had nowhere to go.
He did pick up two yards.
The flag across the highway there
is
completely
down.
I mean
the wind
really, but over by the school it's blowing.
The lower flag below the American flag is blowing a little bit there.
You see that, but it's just American flag.
How much?
It died down a lot since we started, Rod.
It was really windy when we got here.
All right, big third down play here.
You don't want to give the wall backs to the jet back to the jets Too soon might not alone the shotgun back to past looking looking under heavy rush.
He's got a guy out there and
just
over shot Is that for that?
No Vending by him.
That was how you He tried he went up
there.
I was just up just over his I think we're gonna see a pun though
I
don't know who the punter is this year.
It looks like number two.
Oh, okay, I see it back there now.
Yep.
Henry Jenkins back deep to punt.
Well, the Jets had some, or the miners had success moving the ball, but boy, that drive just stalled.
Couldn't get nothing going here.
There's the snap and a punt that's going to be a short not too long and it's going to roll, take a
north
central roll and it hit on about the 49 yard line of north central and it rolled backwards toward the high school and the jets will start first in 10 on the miners 47 yard
line.
Not a real long punt.
I think they're
actually
marking
it
on the 48 there it looks like no.
Go that way first in ten Jets leaving eight to nothing six fifty four to go My there's gonna play good defense or you don't want to give up a score here Jets are gonna get the ball to start the third quarter as well as they as they have played They really don't want to give that up He has got a bunch of you're right bunch of blockers you're still going and he's inside the 20 close to the 15 yard line that
is a pickup
Well,
ball, scrimmage was a 48.
Looks like they're
marking them at the
18.
30 yard run.
30 yard pick up and he had... Oh, did he have a convoy out there?
Was that a well-designed play?
I don't know how you got that many people over there to block.
I think all the line pulled as soon as they... I think guys must have come out the sideline.
There must have been 12 guys out there blocking this time, Rod.
They
really did.
When he went out there, I was like,
what a convoy.
And he's a speedster.
Yeah, I think that's the only thing that slowed him up.
He didn't want to run over his own guys.
Now they go out of a shotgun, popcorn, low snap, dropped it, and he got it into the hands of Kate Malone, spun out of a
tackle,
and he's headed for the end zone.
Did he
get there?
He's close.
Wow, they had him wrapped up in the backfield.
Well, he must be just short.
Well, he, because he hit those.
Whatever the marlin.
Yeah, the pilot there.
Yeah, that couldn't get that out.
He came down to that pilot.
He
wanted
to come down
just
short.
Yeah, they got about
the half yard line.
So I'll give them 17 yards and another first down.
Jets got first in goal on the 1.
I'm looking to put six, probably eight more on the board here.
Dipkorn number center.
I expect maybe a quarterback sneak.
Nope, and off goes to...
Pryor and he walks in on touch and the Jets put six more on the board.
With 5.56 to go second quarter.
Well after a scoreless first quarter the miners are really playing a tough team.
They're playing them tough.
This has been the North Central's quarter without a doubt.
Jets will go for two.
Corner center.
Labanti right behind him.
Malone split back, hand off.
Labani and I don't think he made it.
Oh, they're good.
Oh, I didn't think he did either.
I thought he grabbed them off, but we have a different angle here.
Two-point immersion is good.
556
to go in the first half is North Central 16 and we'll give it nothing.
We'll be back in 30 seconds with the Jets kickoff.

All
right, back here in Wakefield.
Just have the ball teed up back deep for the miners is Henry Jenkins, standing about the 23 yard line.
Remember, they squib kicked last time and it didn't go very far.
So let's see what they do.
Another squib kick.
Squibber, this one picked up.
by Johnson and he'll get 0-2.
Well, he's swarmed on
there, but he's
crossed the 41 yard line of the Miners.
Good field position for the Miners.
Johnson got about 10 yards on that return.
Let's see if the Miners can get some points here before halftime.
He's got to get them all in the third quarter, so he's got to cut into his lead.
Yes, they do.
Let's think of the same thing.
Imperative that you use up a lot of time go down score out.
You don't have to use up a lot of time as long as you score But you
gobble up a big bunch of this quarter and score Line up along the shotgun Jenkins goes in motion handoff goes to Jenkins.
He cuts it inside and he's gonna be a wrap I don't know if he got anything on that
one.
It looks like they're giving it a couple All
of a sudden the running game for the miners has stalled
Well, yeah first try they were just move the ball
Yeah, and there were a lot more quick hitters and these are more You're coming from the side you they're slower developing but if you get a block you can go fire But they come from the side and they got turned go up and those quick hitters going up the middle before we're going
We're working very well Again defense might have shifted on that too.
So right could be why they're doing it Jenkins picked up two yards makes there's a second and eight All on the miners 40
three yard line line out alone in the shotgun and it's going to take up the middle himself and he's wrapped up right there.
I don't know if he gained anything either or not.
I don't think he did.
There's
some big beef in that north-central defense of line.
That gave me yard on that one so we'll give him yard.
271 Randy.
Which north-central?
Well you have that one.
I didn't want to see that
down and
we had the rest of them on the seagull.
Yep.
Remember that now once I saw that
name was okay.
How did we pronounce that?
Yeah, one the seagull.
I remember that name.
I did
too.
Mine is big third down here.
I figured that had to be a tongue twister or something.
You're saying okay.
Why are they doing this to me?
I do you recognize that name.
I did recognize it.
I thought that was a cool name.
One the seagull.
Why not?
Quick hitter up to Haru.
Can you break a tackle?
No, this is going to be a huge decision for the minor.
I guess so.
Do you go for it on your own 45 yard line with this much time left?
Do you punt?
I think they're going for it.
It's going to be fourth and
sixth.
They're
keeping the offense out there in the huddle.
Fourth and sixth, trailing 16 points with 3-48 to go here in the second quarter.
We might even see a tight low here.
Maybe try to draw him offside.
If the lineout goes under center, maybe that's really a long time, but he's already raised his hand
in the backfield there.
And on the shotgun, he's back to pass.
He's looking across the middle and overshot Bovette.
You know what, they had two receivers in the same area.
Somebody
ran the wrong route because there are two of them right there.
And
what that allows is that the Jets defense.
He was looking for Bovette, but boy, it made
it
easier to defend.
You're right, Rod.
Yeah, one guy can cover two guys.
Exactly.
They had defenders there and they had...
Pressure in the backfield.
I mean line.
I didn't have another second
to wait.
We got number 65 coming in five million back in there.
Yep
Well first in ten jets on the minor 45 yard line boy now it's up to the minor defense to shut this office down And that's one way to do it
That was you Johnson
with a nice
tackle
If anything you might have lost a half a yard on that one.
Yeah, I'll give them zero.
Yeah, I would too I'm saying where they put that marker they just move the marker maybe six inches back from
where it was Second and ten for the Jets 250 to go here second quarter Jets up for 16 to nothing Second and ten pipcorn
They should put a running backs and we got a flag on the play.
Let's see what that's going to be.
Pipcorn gained about two yards.
We're supposed
to develop a play as he was taking it to the... Tommy is running on the tackle and will that...
Paul starts against the Jets.
That'll help the miners.
Paul starts.
Back them up five yards, make it a second and 15.
I
don't know
what side this side is, but that's
where
you're standing,
guess.
The ball is actually in, back in Cardinal territory.
Jets, Jets territory, meet me up.
Pipcorn in the shotgun, backs right off his left and right shoulder.
And all those two, uh, the corn, the guy out there and over city, catch it early fever.
I didn't catch it when he ended.
He caught it.
What a call.
Riley Creighton's one handed.
One handed ground.
Fantastic catch.
That really was picked up 10 on that.
Yeah.
I thought that was over zone.
I thought there's
no way to catch it.
Right in the sidelines.
We were kind of blocked over the people.
But when he came up, he had his hands up.
Third and five with 150 to go here in the second quarter.
Pipkorn lives out the shotgun.
Going to keep it himself.
He's got running room on the left side.
Yeah, left side and he is going to be close to the first down maybe a yard short.
Looks like the official on the other side is giving it to
him.
Oh, he's giving him first down.
All right, so this is by George on that carry and that is these
6th
first down for the Jets.
We've got a minute and 37 to go here.
Come on Miners defense, keep them on the
end zone here.
Ball
on the minor 34 yard line.
Fifth corner go out of the shotgun, backs, and we've got a timeout.
on the field called by North Central.
We'll take a break as well.
16-0 in North Central, 137 to go second quarter.
We'll be back in one minute.

Jets the first in 10 on the minor 34 yard line 137 to go before halftime Jets leaving 16 to nothing.
It's imperative the minor defense keeps them at the end.
So we got a flag and probably the legal motion or a phone start on the jets There weren't enough waiting for a signal just my guess I'm waiting for make short.
Oh, they're going the other way They are Oh, I'm sorry he finds Wow
Well, that they didn't
need.
Look for
the... That's going to move the ball up to the 29-yard line area.
Well, that'll make it first in five now on the 29-yard line.
Game five
yards and he'll
run it
any time off the clock, which is a big five yards.
So somebody lined up offside for the Jets.
The corn in the shotgun backs off to his left Going back to fast looking you don't air it out there.
He's got a guy out there and Creighton
They will decline that one handed catch again by Riley Creighton's
And this was, what, down to the spot in
Where is it?
They're marching back.
Are they saying offensive passing here?
That's what they're saying.
Wow.
I'm going to tell you, that was a fantastic catch by him down there.
But again, we're not down there.
Can't see all that's going on with the hands.
That's a
pig.
This
is a ten-yard penalty that
works.
That's huge.
Well,
about as big of a college you're going to see.
Wow.
Well, he did get open at the end.
Yep.
So, first in 15 now.
Kepkorn pitch back to the lawn.
Got some room around the
room.
Nice cover by that.
Whoever was on that.
You were taken down by Drew Johnson.
Drew
Johnson again, they're really
nice.
Filled the
hole from the linebacker position.
The only thing about it is he knocked
them out of bounds.
Jets should be down to
one-time-all.
125 to go Second and 14 ball on the minor 37 yard line what a huge offensive pass interference call against Riley Creighton's push the really helped the minors Thought they were in position the score again tip corn stays up the shotgun or stays in the shotgun really know what we got We got another flag.
I'm
sorry,
and I think he's really a
game.
I think Oh, I thought he was going outside this in the score again
Pipcorn stays up the shotgun or stays in the shotgun rally.
No, we got We got another flag.
I think he's in the game, I think.
Oh, I thought he was going outside.
Yeah, when you put it on,
you're right.
Well, we'll take more penalties, won't we?
Yeah
Make
it a second and 19 ball goes back to the 43.
They gained four on the run.
They lose five on the penalty.
Going back and forth here.
All right, second and 19.
That's about the middle and then in the other hand at number 21, Tyler Beeser.
Not sure if
George Johnson got a hand on there or not, but he certainly flashed in front with his arm before that pass hit there.
He might have touched it, might have deflected it just a hair, but either way, it was incomplete.
Yeah, no pressure on the north central quarterback.
No, not at all.
That's plenty of time to pick out a receiver.
Third and 19 o'clock, she was balling the 24, it's on balls on the 42.
Well, it's close, yep.
It's on the right side of the field anyway.
and he's got some running room and he's going to be short of the first down but boy he's going to pick up about 15 yards.
It was Levante in the run there though.
Was it?
Yeah.
Right here.
Okay.
So here we go.
This
should
be fourth and four.
Yeah.
Fourth and four ball on the minor 28 yard line.
One minute to go here in the
Second quarter.
Well, this is a big offensive play for the North Central
team.
Good corn.
End up.
That's a rule on this side.
Got blockers out front.
He's going to get the first down.
Breaks the tackle and fumble.
Fumble it,
but they recovered it out.
Going
to be a first down for the Jets.
And that was the Fonte.
That ball was on the 20th with the recovery on the fumble.
The last time out, no, for the Jets.
Nine yard pick up and where is it first down?
No timeout miners miners call timeout.
Yep Well
just gotta
talk to
his
defense but he need to talk to his defense about yep the clock was stopped anyway could for the Hoogland of the chains That was gonna be a clock stoppage for a little bit anyway First in 10 jets on the miner
20 yard line just have one time all left, but boy they really have picked up Their defense to stop the miners on there.
I mean the miners have the ball.
Oh, I think now they're moving the ball.
They look good It's like
north-central hit another gear here both defensively and offensively in this quarter
This quarter didn't go quite as fast.
No, we had a first we had a 20 minute quarter the first time and now we've had 40 minutes
quarter
Almost well 33 so far.
All right, first in 10 jets as we come out of the I guess I could have taken a Break there, but I didn't caught up in
action
Pipcorn will go Auto shotgun got Malone after his left Low snap fix it up under a little bit of a rush.
He's gonna air it up.
You gotta go wide open
Touchdown to Riley Creighton.
Wide open
20-yard jet touchdown.
20-yard pass and with 37 seconds to go here in the second quarter, North Central put six more on the board.
Creighton went over there and tried to do a backflip.
Society only made about three quarters of the way over.
Still kind of neat.
37 seconds.
This has been a disappointing quarter for the minors, I will say that, but again, they're against, this is, we're told you where you are in the season when you're playing one of the best teams, and they are good north central.
Central home for two, hip corn, pitch out to Malone, dropped it, and the conversion is no, doesn't matter yet.
When
getting
the job done right is job one.
All ready?
Back here in Wakefield 37 seconds to go before halftime and the Jets put six more on the board Well, we might not we might we will probably see another script.
We will see another script kick here I would imagine pretty sure why put it up in
the air
Kicking into the what little win there is Kicking into the win is a run up in the kick and it's a little end over end But it's going to go out of bounds again.
Yeah
Pick up
three yards off of that one.
Yeah,
but
it's still
okay still
penalty All
right
I would expect miners to be very careful here.
Down 22 to nothing.
37 seconds to go.
Ball back on the run.
I'd be surprised
if they do anything but run.
Probably a very conservative run.
I would think so.
But you get the right guy and the right blocking.
You could break one.
See how aggressive they want to be here.
Jenkins goes in motion.
Lionel's going to keep it.
He's going to go off the right side.
He's going to lose your order.
That could be the last play.
He lost three on
that.
Clock
down to 20 seconds.
Most likely that will be the last play.
They don't look like there any rush to get this playoff.
I don't think they will get this off.
It's gonna they're already they're still in the huddle.
They got six seconds to go.
I don't think they're gonna get off.
Oh another herring.
Done and they did not get it off.
Just at the buzzer.
Just at the clock at zero they snapped the ball.
So that will do it for
the first half here in Wakefield.
North Central
Jets 22 and Grigivik Miners nothing will take the five-minute break.
Come back with stats.
scoring and comments regarding this first half.
Grand
Rapids was the officiating capital of the world for one day and we introduce a new series on why officials officiate.
I'm John Ross and this is this week in high school sports powered by the Michigan Achievement Scholarship and coming to you from the 1-800-CALL-SAM studio.
In late July, about 1,000 MHSAA registered officials attended Officiate Michigan Day at DeVos Place in Grand Rapids.
Some of the biggest names and officiating from across the country were on hand to lead discussions, workshops and training sessions.
The two keynote speakers were Mike Pereira, a former college and NFL official who is now the TV Rules Analyst for Spock Sports, and Kerry Seitz, the current Vice President of Ruffering for U.S.
Soccer, and the former FIFA Head of Ruffering.
Seitz is also a graduate of Brighton High School and Michigan State University.
Officiate Michigan Day was designed to benefit officials with any level of experience, veteran to beginner.
High profile clinicians representing several sports in all levels including the NFL, NBA, MLB, NCAA, FIFA and the National Women's Soccer League provided face-to-face training during four sport specific breakout sessions throughout the conference.
This was the third officiate Michigan day joining events in 2013 and 2018 and for more check out the officials page at mhsa.com

Normally it goes to the 35,
but now I think since the ball went out at the 43, you get it there.
Yes.
So then is that considered a seven yard penalty?
No, it's just where the ball went out of bounds.
They decline the penalty and take the ball.
Good
call.
It's on the 42 years where they've got it.
Drew Johnson's foot salt wide left.
Bolvett in tight on the right.
This is... Oh, Eversen.
I don't think they're so over the run.
Oh.
Looks like he picked up a couple.
Yeah, Eversen is a 5'7", 155", 150 pound sophomore.

Well that was Jenkins that time He uh, he danced around a whole heck of a lot there.
Okay
Instead of being able to go
for it.
I don't think he gained any way to have lost a yard either.
I think so.
It's 13-10, ball back on the ball still on the minor 43 yard, and Miner's offense just has... The unsightly they gained a yard or two plays here.
They gained two and they went back one.
Nine yards to go.
At least get down to the others.
Other side of the field.
Got to get across the 50-yard line.
Oh,
nice.
That was Everson,
okay.
Nice catch by Everson.
A little three yards
pass
on the wing and Everson broke it back off.
He put in a manageable fourth and short.
Yeah, they picked up seven on that one.
Got a little about two yards to go.
Nice move and then he put his head down and drove straight forward.
It looked like he was going to get that first down.
Just nailed in the court.
Randy, look where the ball is and we are going to end the court.
Finally, we got it.
The ball is on the, got it across the 50 though.
The referees only have to move the ball five inches.
This is Rod's big thing for any game, if you know this, if you ever listen
to
us, if I was close to the 50, they can get on that thing.
So you just move it a little bit, but they actually finally got it into the opponent.
Yes.
Yeah, we're finally on the north central side of the field.
One foot in, but that's
all.
All
right, third quarter has come to an end, and we'll take a one minute break.

See you later.
All right, back here in Wakefield, fourth and about two for the miners on the Jets 49 yard line.
See, they can convert this first down here.
Why not alone in the shotgun?
Why not go straight ahead, put his head down, and as the other booties will do it, Bryson does the same thing.
First, first down on the fourth quarter.
Yeah, first first down on the pass.
You think Bodhi taught him how to do that play
First down for the miners.
There's time in a long time.
He
must have, Rod.
All
right, let's see if they can keep his drive going here.
Find out other shots then.
That Everson split out wide left.
Jenkins was right.
Everson goes in motion.
Take the handoff, Bryson up the middle, or left out the middle, and he is tripped up, and he picked up a yard or two.
Le
Bon Tee, I think it is Le Bon Tee.
I think that's Bobby's kid, isn't it?
Sure.
Bobby and Terry, both brothers.
Yes.
Hopefully it is Le Bon Tee.
All right second down and seven fall on the Jets 43 yardland Jets may have some new players in there.
I don't know Number two is don't man.
He depends the longy You're sitting in motion inside handoff goes to jet Jenkins and he is wrapped up by two jets Drop for a
lot I'm
waiting to see if whether they move that flag or not if it's a loss or if it's just that though It looks like they both the same spot
Cashed
in
Denny checked in for the miners number 15.
Let's see where he splits out to or is he aback number 15 Lot back on the right side
Why not alone in the shotgun?
It's gonna go straight ahead and go right off immediately.
Hunter Holly.
Yep, isn't there a Holly Hunter?
You know, I think there is.
It's a Holly Hunter.
No, it's an actress, yes.
This is Hunter Holly.
We were already on six.
I thought it was a
number
eight, but there's no number eight on
their team, so we're out again with those sharp eyes.
What if Hunter Holly married Holly Hunter?
When they were, did they change their name to Holly Holly or Hunter Hunter?
You have to see.
Some things you gotta just think about, you know?
Well, you know, that sun is going down.
It's still not dark here, but if it gets much darker, they'll have to move the end of this game to Bezwerp to the messy field.
So no, it's a long time yet.
There's plenty of daylight here.
Nice
lineup back the path.
There's a guy out there.
That is Adam Everson again, I think.
Yes.
We'll make it.
Fourth or was that for that was that was there?
Well, that was for it.
Nope
You just
said
there's got fourth on the marker now, but That's what's messed me up.
It was third on the marker.
I think they just didn't
look
marker
That's how I was gonna know it's first on the up.
So he was short of the first down by about a yard for the Jets take over But the sideline
marker did read third down on that play.
That's what
I was confused
because it
We'll just take over and see if they have anybody new out there.
Pipcorn is still the quarterback.
And up goes to number 12, Kate Malone.
So he's right up the middle, too.
Adam Everson on the tackle, along with 81 nets.
Tabiruni.
He picked up eight yards on that carry.
Everson comes limping off.
Everson had a spring ankle in practice.
He did not scrimmage.
That could be what it is, then.
Well that comes off.
It wasn't a
serious limp, but it was a limp nonetheless.
It's just a small limp.
89 as the defensive end.
We don't have an 89 on the roster.
I
was just looking at that.
I don't have that in mind.
I was just wondering who the heck that is.
I thought maybe I was looking at the wrong number, but no.
Well, he's almost lined up offside.
It goes totally south.
Malone again and nice open field tackle by Drew Johnson.
Drew Johnson has had a heck of a game.
He really has.
Well, they stopped them short again.
No gain, I think.
Right.
Still third.
Yeah, he might have got it.
He only got one to
go now.
Third and one ball on the Jets.
47 yard length.
7.27 Jets out in front.
7.27 to go in the fourth quarter.
Jets out in front.
36 to nothing.
No scoring in the first quarter.
And the Jets really turned it on in the second quarter.
The corn under center and you'll go straight ahead and you'll just
You know, I think if they wanted I think again three or four yards every single time by just doing that up Yes, all of center.
It's not exciting to watch but anytime they need it.
They've got it
down to Seven minutes in this quarter.
This is flying by now, Rod
Pipcorn isn't a very big guy.
We don't have heights or weights, but he looks like he's kind of solid.
He does for his height.
The other one that looks is that Caden Malone at number 12.
He's not a real big guy either, but man, he is strong when he's fast.
Yeah, he's fast.
Watch him while he's there.
He'll put his shoulder down and knock somebody down.
He's leading with blocks a lot of times on these other plays when Pipcorn runs too.
Pipcorn hand off to Malone and he's wrapped up.
He didn't get to use any for speed that time.
That ball went into his hands and he was tackled by two
people.
We can see you get up Henry and number 62
Damian
intimate
Nick.
Damian intimate.
Jean Field is on
attack.
He's up second and nine.
Yeah.
Pip-torn just to play from the sidelines.
Miners will be off to Norway.
Well, it doesn't get any easier.
Oh, they're overseas just like football.
Should we go overseas?
Yep.
North Carolina is playing in Ireland and the Miners will be playing in Norway.
That's fantastic.
It's a long bus ride.
Yeah, they're taking the bus over there.
Good point on the pitch-out to Malone and he's wrapped
up.
Somebody here did a nice job of holding their place on the defensive, waiting for them to get up so we can see who that is.
Turn around and show me your number.
Did
you hit my ditch?
Jenkins.
No, that was... Johnson.
Johnson's the one that hit the health of your own.
Yep, Jenkins was
in
Like I said, Drew Johnson has had a really nice game defensively.
When you start calling his name and play after play after play on good plays, then you know he's having a good game.
He's not a real big guy either.
He's only 650 pounds.
Right.
Third and about eight.
Ball on the minor 46 yard line.
Tip corn goes under center.
Scott Malone has the loan back and here's the inside handoff.
He breaks one tackle and now he's wrapped up.
He's still unstoppable.
He gets one too quick.
Everybody had him.
Somebody had a piece of his shirt in the backfield there for the longest time, but they were able to stop him.
You
just get moving and spinning.
Oh, here's a big fourth down play, right?
Fourth and sixth.
I would keep a guy tight on Riley Creighton if he's in the ballgame.
Yes, he is number one.
I don't know if they'll pass anymore with this big of a lead.
Well, maybe not.
They really don't have to.
Yeah, they might just run it.
4-17 to go there.
See you, my love auntie.
Ends are in tight.
Get going under center along the deep back If you're right the past he's got credence wide open Oh, that's off the ground that ball hit the ground Wow, he had got behind the defense credence couldn't do his one-handed catch because it didn't get to him.
Oh, he was wide open Wow was And that's pass been thrown perfectly credence would have put six more on the board.
What's the time of the clock?
I just want to write that down 345
Miners have 345 as Rudson
The score I believe they're gonna try some plays.
I bet you we're gonna see some passing plays though
Let's see 81 going into the ball game.
That's tabby Rooney Well that goes back in Then this Elam is in there 46.
Let's see go that 85.
No, but that's on the sidelines.
He's not in 15 is going in Kashten
A couple of new players going in there, you know.
Well, one thing about it, they're getting playing time for some of the younger players, too, but Johnson's pulled out wide left.
Wide, yeah, wide left.
We're gonna have a pass here.
Why not?
Shotgun?
No, we're not.
Goes to... Oh, I thought that... Is that Everson?
Or is that...
Hand off to Henry Jenkins.
Oh, Henry Jenkins,
okay.
I thought he had a chance to break through.
It looked like a tackle.
And then, bang, they were
there though.
But it's not just one.
The
first
guy hits him and then the other
guys, they don't know where they're marking that.
You know what?
He got back to the line of scrimmage.
Yep.
You know the site marker went away down and then he kept coming back, coming back, coming back.
But...
North Central travels to Ishpemene next Friday
It'll be a nice workout for the North Central team.
Any in motion and he's gonna be wrapped up and dropped for a loss
Four
yards, maybe three yards, I guess I give him the forward motion forward progress
Interesting
that this refereeing crew had their early game last week.
Guess what the score was
36 nothing.
And that's something.
And that's the score
right now.
That's
probably going to be the score at the end of the game.
Do you think there's something in the gambling and Vegas on these?
I'm just saying, I'm just stating the facts.
That's all.
Just the facts, man.
Just the facts.
Why not season the shotgun?
And here's a hand out to Denny looking for running room.
buried under a sea of voices.
He may have got up to the line of scrimmage, but that's
it.
4th and
12 with one minute to go in the ballgame.
Gaston Denny is wearing number 15 in the green.
I thought he looked like Bart Starr until he got the ball, then he didn't look like Bart Starr anymore.
He looked more like Ringo Starr
in
the ball maybe.
I expect
a pass.
I expect one too, Rod.
How much time we got?
Is this the last play?
40 seconds.
We
got one more play, maybe.
Why not?
Handoff goes to number 22, and that is Turner's second pitch, and he is going to be wrapped up well short of the first down.
That
should do
it.
Lock
is down to 20 seconds.
North Central doesn't have to run into the play.
And the clock will wind down.
It stops the clock.
On the change of possession.
It's stopped on change of possession, is it?
Well, then North Central will have to run.
Yep, they'll just kneel down.
Well, who knows.
Tip corn will just take a knee and that will do it Final score tonight from Wakefield Central Jets 36 and the Bolivar minus nothing will take a five-minute break.
We'll come back with

staffs comments regarding this ball game
We'll
be

All
right, Bactrian Wakefield, final score this afternoon.
Central Jets 36, and the Gugivik Miners nothing.
And, boy, Randy, that first quarter looked like we were going to have a very good ball game.
Looks like two even teams.
And I don't know what happened in the second quarter, but the Jets put up 28 points on the board, and the Miners offense just went in the tank.
Truly, Rod, you couldn't have said it any better.
the game in a nutshell.
You had two even teams in the first quarter and they really played well.
Yes.
You know, and there was a turnover on each team.
It's kind of critical turnover, but they're both turnover.
They're actually north central fumble on their six yard line even, but still it was just that close.
It was going along.
They looked good.
The minors were gaining on a lot of the runs and stuff like that.
And all of a sudden it's just nothing.
They had just all of their yards were in the first quarter.
I
mean, almost
all of
their offense yards, just not much after that.
Right.
I think you set off the error.
They had 25 yards and the third in the second half.
Second half total of 25 yards.
Yeah.
I'll give credit to the Jets.
Can't win a game like that.
Sure.
That was just tough.
No.
And you're right.
Give credit to the
Jets.
Yeah.
Sorry.
Looking at stats for the North Central Jets, they were letting the rushing by their number, one of the top running backs, number two, Prylor Labonte.
He had 11 carries for 104 yards.
the quarterback Nathan Pipcorn had 14 carries for 43 yards and Caden Malone had 15 carries for 73 yards 40 carries overall for the Jets for 220 yards and the passing game Pipcorn was 5 out of 7 for 126 yards so 346 yards total offense for the Jets a lot of their drives
started in minor territory and they didn't have, didn't have far to go.
Only three, three ball carriers for the Jets all night long, the two running backs, Pipcorn, or Pipcorn the quarterback, and then Malone and the Bonte.
And they did, they did all the damage along with Riley Creighton with some great catches.
Good
looking
offensive
players there.
They look
good on defense too.
They look
good.
Got some stats for us.
Sure you go give excited.
They're not good, but
they're stats nonetheless first all in rushing to go give it ended up with 27 carries for 90 yards And if you remember in the first half they're 18 carries for 82 yards So they they had nine carries for eight yards in that second half, which is just that was tough and there was just nowhere to go Passing not bad stat wise is seven for nine passing but not many yards gained total of 48 yards That was 17 yards that they gained in the second half
No big passes.
He had people open.
The passes he did were short little passes and they were there and had a lot of pressure on him at times.
The leading rusher was Haru.
He had four carries for 54 yards and those were all the first and second quarter.
He touched them all one time in the second half and that was on a pass play.
He gained three yards and that was it.
So I don't know if he got dinged up or if it just
works in the offense or whatever but anyway it just
Wasn't as good as what we expected and after that first quarter.
We were both pretty excited about look like oh god We got a real game going here, but yeah, no miners miners move the ball real well on their first drive the they got down deep into the jet territory and Did they run out of downs on that one?
Did they turn it over and for now?
I think yes, that's first there is no joke.
Yes, and then they then they caused the fumbled on near their goal line
But that was probably their best drive of the night.
It was that very first drive.
Things looked to be clicking, but it just didn't happen.
We were quickly going over the scoring.
North Central scored first in the second quarter, 837.
Time, it was a Pipcorn 2 Malone 47-yard pass.
2-point conversion was good.
North Central went up 8-0 and they scored again at the 5-50.
5-52 mark on a 1-yard run by
Uh, prior, prior Labonte, two point conversion was good and at that point, North Central had 16 to nothing.
Another pass play from, uh, Pipcorn to Roddy Creighton's for 20 yards at the 57 mark, 37 second mark of the second quarter.
Two point conversion was no good and at halftime, it was North Central 22 and go give it nothing.
North Central scoring again.
Twice in the third quarter one on a four-yard run by La Ponte two-point conversion was no good.
It was 28 to nothing and then With that so the smart choice of the game
Brought to you by Northwood Technical College, and if you're looking to make a smart choice in your future, please consider contacting the great folks at Northwood Technical College and make a plan for your future.
They are located on Beezer Avenue right next to the Ashland High School.
Randy, you know, there's no one thing that stands out as being the smart choice of the game, but something happened with the
She had to defense that just shut down the miners offense and whatever that change was That had to be the smart choice of the
game.
I think you're right They shifted where their linebackers were there and they've shifted their defense a little bit more to the to stop the run From that I was at the end of the first quarter and it was not
the same after and you're right I totally agree we talked about that met with that was a significant change Yeah, I can't pinpoint exactly what it was, but they changed something up because it just throttle the minor defense
After that point but give congratulations to a north central they look like a very fine football team They will travel to is trimming next week.
We'll give it another tough one.
They go to Norway.
You know that the last year in Norway Well, see if the minus young
man right down there in the sideline gets back real quick to in Jaden verette.
Well, he's a difference maker.
He is he's
in the street close tonight.
Hopefully he comes back sooner than they expect, but we understand he had some surgery and he's got to come back.
We don't want the CMB damage for the rest of his life.

This is Rod Halvorson saying, hope you enjoy the broadcast.
Unfortunately, the miners come up short 36 to nothing and fall to North Central.

Free food

8 nothing.

Elliot Bigger had a goal and to assist in Traverse City Christians win over Manning.
Good skier.
Yeah, very competitive skier competing
in...
A lot of the upscale tournaments all west
and everything so good to see that In a first-year Marty's golden-air member.
Oh really?
He takes
after his aunt
Karen.
That's where he got all his skiing ability from.
Oh, okay This is Jenkins and that's a new Ray back.

We'll come back with
36
staffs comments regarding this ball game
We'll
be
back in five minutes

All
right, Bactrian Wakefield, final score this afternoon.
