In soccer tonight, Dodgeville Mineral Point is at Richland Center, Prairie Duchenne at River Valley, Belleville, Nouglaris at Wisconsin Heights, Barnabelle, and Fort Atkinson is playing at Reedsburg.

In area baseball, Richland Center is down the road at Platteville, Lancaster at River Valley, Mineral Point at Riverdale,

Well, coach, you got the job done last week at Platteville.

I know that was one of those games where it wasn't as important that you won, but it still was a good thing.

You did, right?

Yup.

And that's all we told the girls going into it, you know, coming off that Thursday night, went against per machine and tying up the conference championship for the first time in a while.

You know, I was afraid we'd maybe have a little let down, but, uh,

You know, the girls played well.

We had some key hits in the bottom of the lineup, which we were happy to see.

And they went in, they played hard.

I was a little worried, and the bus ride down was pretty quiet.

But we got down, we warmed up, and we jumped on them right away.

We just kind of held that spot and it was kind of a, one of those wins where, you know, we get done and it's like, well, we did this last night and we have this moving forward.

So we just told them, you know, learn from it.

It's another, another win on the season and we'll, we'll get prepared, prepared for the tournament run here.

Absolutely.

Then you had the seating meeting over the weekend.

You had elective had maybe the chance at a higher seed, but you got a tough sectional, don't you?

We do.

You know, we started out when the vote went in.

We ended up at the two spot and then Gay Electric Trampolo appealed.

And they won the two spot back by a four to three vote.

We just didn't have a lot of people we knew in that sectional, half sectional this year.

So I was a little worried about that going in.

You know, we'd only played Verroqua and Prairie.

I think they were two of our votes to stay in that two spot, but just too many teams didn't know us, which is not a bad thing if we can get into that part of the tournament.

So I feel confident with where we're at.

Prairie, that draw bothered me a little.

It's just the whole trying to beat a team three times in a season.

But we got beat the best to get there, too.

And I think Prairie and us have two of the better pitchers in that.

And that half sectional, and I think, you know, if we can get past them, I'm excited to see what we can do.

Yeah.

That's what I was thinking too.

Your conference didn't get a lot of respect.

And unfortunately you got to play, you know, one of your toughest opponents all year long, right out of the gate too.

Yeah.

You know, they gave us a good, you know, basically what it came down to last game was, uh, the pitchers and a couple hitters.

And, uh, you know, luckily Abigail had that.

that hit to the fence.

And you know, when we were out there, I seen they were playing an awful shallow and she, uh, she'd been hitting the ball.

Well, it surprised me.

I thought, boy, if they get, she gets this over their head is the way she can run.

And, and it's exactly what happened.

You know, it ain't field home run and, and, uh, and the park home run.

I'm sorry.

And, uh, you know, that was basically the game.

Jamie, what do you know about tonight's opponent, Wisconsin Dells?

you know last year they were pretty good team um this year i've seen just from a record perspective they're struggling a little um you know we really we were supposed to play them early it got rained out so i haven't did a lot of uh research on them other than their record shows they've struggled a little bit so it'll be a good uh good game for us just to go into kind of like the tournament you know we don't know a lot about them and we're just going to start tonight and and play

These next two games this week, we did pick up one against Isle Grant Thursday night.

So, you know, we're telling the girls, let's use these as tournament caliber games and just get prepped for Tuesday.

Yeah, I think it's important to do that because if you had a week off or so, that wouldn't be so good right now, would

it?

Yeah, we did that last year.

We picked up Royal on the night we had the buy and that worked well.

And hopefully we can go down.

Iowa Grant's got a good team, so it'll be a good test for us.

They've done well this year.

They got a couple of good pitchers.

They hit well.

I know a little more about them than I do Wisconsin Dells.

But either way, we just got to go in and be who we are.

And we talked to the kids last night about just picking up an extra couple hits.

picking up a couple of bonds, you know, that we've been, obviously we've struggled with a little bit, but we, we did get some key hits out of some girls on Friday night down in Platteville, which was good to see.

So hopefully that, that keeps rolling and we can move forward.

It appears your defense has made improvements from early on in the season.

Do you think that?

Yeah.

I think, you know, as a whole, you know,

it's easy to get lackadaisical out there when kairi's pitching because there's a lot of times you just don't see a ball your way and i think you know we just keep hollering out there like at any point this is going to happen and it's just keeping them on their toes and uh you know as a whole we haven't had a lot of fielding errors this year maybe one freight they can remember um we'd have a base running air on friday night too which we haven't had a lot of lows you know dave uh darling has been just

You know, I can't thank the guy enough for doing what he does for this team.

And he mentioned the other day about how happy he was to see the aggressiveness and just the way we're confident running bases this year.

And I think it shows, you know, when we get a base runner on, we've been doing good things.

So it's just about getting, you know,

softballs about getting base runners on, you know, we don't care how we keep stressing that the girls be smart when you're up in the batter's box.

Um, let's just get runners on base and do what we do.

And if we can continue that, we'll be fine.

Yeah.

The old adage was a walk is as good as a hit.

Any other way to get on base, right?

Exactly.

Exactly.

You know, we got some quick kids.

So, you know, even Martin's a quick kid, Ella Clemens, they have a gale.

So if we can get a few of them on, you know, we've done pretty well with, with moving them around and then getting them in position to score.

Hornets came in with a record of 15 and 3 overall into the night tonight.

They'll play one more game here before the tournament start in a week.

They do have a game that they have scheduled with Iowa Grant on Thursday night.
