Okay is this one of those movies we're going to start off with that may be the movie of the year making more than the Spider-Man movie it's called Avengers and the Game.
I have a feeling this is going to be number one for like six or seven weeks.
Well
Not exactly.
This one's a re-release.
Remember Avengers?
Oh, that's right.
That's right.
That's right.
This is our, this is our encore.
They're putting out Avengers Endgame Encore.
It's rated PG-13.
We've seen the movie before, but remember how great it was.
It had a 94% radiant red tomatoes.
All the Avengers are in this one.
You've got Robert Downey Jr.
as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Scarlett Janssen, Black Widow, Chris Helmsworth as Thor and more.
The Avengers have assembled again.
Remember, this was after Thanos had wiped out half the life on Earth, and the heroes who remain were taking one last shot at setting things right.
But the whole reason they're putting this out is for us to remember and get a taste of it, because the new Avengers, Avengers Doomsday, comes out and is showing starting on December 17th.
So you really want to go see this one.
Remember what this thing looks like on screen.
There's some extra footage in it as well.
So take a look at Avengers Endgame Encore.
Beautiful, the big screen.
I had forgotten some of the things and I kind of brushed up on and I'll go out to see this one this weekend because it's going to look great on the big screen.
And for anyone, this is a great return in preparation for Avengers End, Avengers Doomsday, which is going to be with us.
during the holiday
season.
Is it obvious I've never seen an Avengers movie?
I can't get into that.
I'm like one of the few people in America who just can't get into the superhero movies.
Now, bring me a Godzilla movie, which is more realistic than the Avengers movies.
Bring me one of those.
And yeah, I'll watch it 20 times, but I just can't get into that.
But speaking about Godzilla, there is a Godzilla movie coming out in November, right?
There will be one, yes.
Godzilla minus zero is coming out the first weekend in November, so be prepared.
You'll get your Godzilla
fifth then.
And Godzilla minus one was a big movie.
One of the Academy Award, as a matter of fact, at the Oscars last year.
And so that one, so we have Godzilla minus one.
The sequel is Godzilla minus zero.
I guess the next one will be Godzilla plus one.
I see the direction they're going.
I think plus one's gonna be the next one.
All right, so Avengers Endgame Encore, which is a re-release.
You don't see that much anymore, re-releases, but they used to do it back in the 60s all the time.
They used to re-release movies and theaters, but this is the one.
The next film up is one I've got to see.
It's called Prime Time, and it's kind of a take on that to catch a predator guy, right?
Yeah, 824 is putting this one out.
It's raided our...
wonderful rotten tomatoes rating here.
80% on this one.
Everyone's raving about patents' performances because in prime time, he plays television host Chris Hansen as the team behind me to catch a predator.
And they were setting out to make television history way back when.
And I say way back.
It quotes in 2006.
Whoa,
that far back we're talking.
Exactly.
20 years ago, that is significant.
Two decades ago, this happened, seems like yesterday.
So it's a drama about the people making the show and all the pressure surrounding it.
And, you know, Pattinson is at the center of it with a very different role than what we've seen from him before.
So this is prime time.
It's definitely going to be up there.
You know, you're probably looking at one and two between Avengers and Game Encore and prime time here, but very critically acclaimed and people have been looking for this when they come up for quite some time.
Yeah, I don't think they can go well for Chris Hansen for some reason, if I remember.
Something happened.
Anyway, we'll find out when we watch the movie Prime Time, I guess, right?
You don't have to guess.
All right, Heart of the Beast.
You know, I saw a trailer for this.
Brad Pitt is almost unrecognizable in this movie.
Well, it's definitely, it's a wonderful movie and we had this as our mystery movie this past Monday.
So again, we talk about our mystery movies all the time.
Those that came out this past Monday for a mystery movie, it was only $6 and sure enough, they got to see Heart of the Beast.
reviews were tremendous.

It's rated PG 13.
It stars Brad Pitt and J.K.
Simmons.
And Brad Pitt in this one, he plays a former special forces soldier.
He survives this plane crash in the Alaskan wilderness.
And the only companion that's with him is his combat dog, Odin.
So together, they basically have to survive.
They have to fight their way through dangerous terrain and whatever else the wilderness puts in their path.
So
It's really interesting.
And in this one, actually, one of the stars is Odin, and he is played primarily by a German shepherd named Uber.
So that was very interesting.
And it looks like Alaska, but interestingly enough, New Zealand stood in for Alaska during filming for this.

They always
do that.
But I'll tell you, the scenery looks amazing.
New Zealand will ask or not.
It looks amazing.
You've got this wonderful German shepherd that plays basically.
He's the star.
He's starring with Brad Pitt in this movie.
Like I said, people loved it.
They were amazed by the story of survival.
And check it out.
It's Heart of the Beast.
Is Odin his stage name or is that his real name?
Odin's his stage name.
His real name is Uber.
Oh, okay, I was only joking.
All right.
I didn't realize he had a stage name.
Now, J.K.
Simmons, he's a great actor.
He's been in a lot of movies, very serious actor, comedies could be serious.
But that's not where we remember him from.
Everybody remembers from farmers, bum, bum, bum, bum, bum, bum, bum, the farmers insurance commercial.
That's him.
But that's where he's remembered from.
But he's been a member of the movie Whiplash.
He starred in it.
He wasn't a good person in that movie.
Remember that movie Whiplash, the music?
It
was one of my favorite movies.
The band director.
Yes.
And yeah.
And what a tremendous performance in that one.
He's in a lot of movies, but we all remember from Farmers Insurance.
And, you know, I guess it doesn't matter.
The money's rolling in for J.K.
Simmons.
Good actor.
All right.
Our next movie is an animated film called Forgotten Island.
Yeah.
Another movie getting wonderful reviews.
It actually had a hundred percent rotten tomatoes ready up until yesterday.
And now it only has a 96.
And I say that say 96 is still phenomenal.
When you look at all the critics that have reviewed this movie, it's rated PG.
It was also one of our mystery movies two weeks ago.
So people got to see this two weeks ago.
And again, people loved it.
It is a tremendous original animated story because DreamWorks and Universal take us to the Philippines in the 1990s for this movie.
And it's about two best friends, Joe and Risha.
They stumble upon a portal that leads them to an island filled with creatures and stories that they grew up with here in, but going home is going to be difficult because slowly but surely they begin to lose their memories on this island because that's what the island does.
So this story draws on Filipino mythology.
and is just wonderful on screen.
Admittingly, I saw this all the way back in April at a convention.
They had showed this to us.
I wasn't able to speak anything about the plot or anything like that, but I loved it when I saw it in April.
Our mystery movie audiences saw it.
Two Mondays ago, they loved it.
And again, great picture to bring up the family to.
The animation is spectacular.
It comes to us from DreamWorks and Universal, and it's the same team.
that were behind the last Puss in Boots animated movie that did this one.
So very spectacular animation on screen and this would be a good pick for families or just anyone looking for some great animation because I wouldn't call this just a family movie.
This is something that anyone can enjoy as as most animated films now are.
They're made for everyone very young to very old with with some great plot lines and some great animation as well.
We're chatting with.
Brad Hoffman of Marcus Theaters, we talked about all the new movies coming out.
Now we've got some movie news for you.
I want to start off with World War Z as sequel.
Yeah, well Brad Pitt is on screens right now with Heart of the Beast, but in a little while you'll be able to see him in a World War Z sequel.
He's headed back into zombie territory to return in this sequel.
It's going to have Conclave Director Edward Berger attached to Direct.
Now, there's no release date yet, but his return comes about 13 years after the original film, which, of course, was spectacular.
So I would say look for the long end of two years, maybe three years, and we should see another World War Z on screen.
And all these kids, well, they're not kids anymore.
They're in their 40s now.
But all these kids were screaming, Wren's are going to be a gremlin sequel.
Well, I think we have it, right?
We will, but they're going to have to wait a little bit longer because they pushed the date back a little bit.
The Warner Brothers has now moved Gremlins 3.
They've set it now for October 6th, 2028.
So it looks like about two years since we'll see another Gremlins.
They do have some teaser footage that they released, and it's really neat because Chris Columbus, who wrote the original Gremlins,
is writing and directing this new movie.
So, grandma's three, we'll have to wait a little bit longer, but in about two years we'll get to see that.
It's been a long time since we've seen Gizmo on screen.
You think Christopher Columbus was bullied in school because his name was Christopher Columbus?
I have a feeling he was.
My guess is so as well.
Look at his mother naming Christopher Columbus.
All right.
Here's some other movie news.
We talked before we went on the air this morning.
I just saw the full trailer for the Elizabeth Holmes documentary.
You can see everything.
This is from the company 824.
Elizabeth Holmes, for people that aren't familiar with her, she scammed the entire healthcare industry by running a company called Theranos, which claimed they can track everything in blood with one drop in a machine, pipe it in, and it spits out your entire health history.
and the machine never worked.
She scammed Walgreens, scammed CVS.
She scammed everybody into these machines until they found out they never, ever worked.
But let's talk about the documentary because she's in prison now.
So when did they film this thing?
Well, they filmed it right before that she went to prison.
So really interesting.
They filmed it right before she went to prison.
So it's a look at her life right before in 2023 that she reported to prison.
should be an intimate look at what happened.
Maybe we'll get some things revealed.
As you said, what a fascinating story.
I can't believe what went on.
I can't believe what she pulled over.
And maybe this documentary will show us a little bit of that because it's coming out in October, mid-October, and we'll just see what we haven't seen yet.
They actually filmed it like they were actors.
It doesn't have a documentary feel to it.
The guy who's doing the actual, you know, interviewing her, seems like an actor.
He doesn't seem like an interviewer.
And she seems like she's acting the camera angles, almost like, you know, ready for my close-up, Mr. DeMille, that type of thing.
But how she ever skimmed Walgreens?
I have no idea.
Anyway, so the documentary coming out of Elizabeth Holmes and Theranos and should be pretty good.
All right, it's a movie anniversary.
He's got Crocodile Dundee.
40 years ago, all I remember from that movie is, that's no knife.
This is a
knife.
What a great movie with Paul Hogan.
And this Saturday actually marks 40 years since it opened in theaters on September 26, 1986.
It made quite an impression when it was out.
Of course, it finished behind a certain film at the box office, the time it was released, because at the time it was released, Top Gun was also in theaters at the domestic box office in 1986.
But Crockettile Dundee, there was a sequel to it as well.
So there we go.
Paul Hogan, Crockettile Dundee, 40 years old as of this Saturday.
Do they know that when they're releasing a movie they're going up against a major Tom Cruise movie?
You put all this money millions of dollars into a movie and you go up against a superhero movie.
They know this going in.
Well certainly except when you look at these things I mean.
You've got different types of John movies you've got crack it up and he was a comedy versus top gun which was an action picture.
They're not all released on the same day so I mean there's only well there's.
52 weekends a year.
So you're bound to run into failure, bound to run into gets a competition at any, at some time.
Uh, but obviously, uh, it did very well for itself.
Even if it was in number two position, what it was released.
Zoolander 25 years, huh?
25 years.
Hard to believe.
So September 28th, that will be Monday.
Uh, Zoolander turns 25 and it's funny because.
Ben Stiller brought us that blue steel look.
It was, this was a funny movie.
It was a fat tire.
It had Will Ferrell in it, it had a bunch of other people in it.
And I still think about some of the funniest scenes in this movie.
Like when they show him the model of what his school for children will be and he yells at people, what is this?
A school for ants?
You know, all kinds of different things like that that went on in this movie.
Everything was just so funny, so cliche.
David Duchovny has a role in it.
Will.
played here by the team and still a movie that I enjoy watching every now and again when it's on.
So Zoolander gets 25 years.
Ben Stiller, what a tremendous role in this one as well.
You know, with all the talk of AI, what's making a comeback, and I saw a couple of theaters around the country.
You're going to show this in 70 millimeter in its original Cinerama Roadshow release.
2000 Watt of space Odyssey is coming back in a lot of theaters.
And, you know, they show in certain cities where they can show 70 millimeter movies and, you know, the big screens.
And for people that don't remember it, or I never saw it before, they were taught.
The film came out in 1968, probably made in 66 and 67.
And a computer runs a muck on a mission to Jupiter on the spacecraft and takes over the spacecraft and kills all the astronauts except one.
And it's up to that astronaut to disable how 9,000 the computer before he destroys the entire mission.
So if you think AI is new, uh-uh.
It goes back to the mid-60s with 2001 Space Odyssey.
It's a fabulous movie.
It was just on Turner Classic Movies last week.
I had the Blu-ray.
I watch it all the time.
And the two lead actors are still around, and they did the commentary on the Blu-ray.
But I'd love to say it.
My parents took me to the Cinerama Theater to go see it in 1968.
And my father came out and said, what was that all about?
Because it's a different movie.
But to see it in Cinerama with that big, giant curved screen, six-track stereo sound.
And back in 68, you didn't see a lot of movies like that.
I don't know if it's celebrating an anniversary or whatever, but 2001, a space Odyssey.
Good movie.
Let's go back to the 1990s now.
I know it seemed, and it is a long time ago.
It's 36 years ago in the 90s.
Yeah, it's funny.
My son this week will turn 10 years old.
And when I explained to him some of these things, and I actually walked him through some of these things about the 1990s and he couldn't believe it.
It's not in his lifetime that he'd have to do any of these things.
But the movie Forgotten Island is based in the 1990s, as we talked about.
Wonderful animated film being released this weekend with a 96% round tomatoes rating.
So I thought, well, what was like in the 90s and what don't we remember?
So here are a few things.
about living in the 90s that just certainly aren't the case today.
Remember, if you wanted to get together with someone, you had to call their house and talk to a parent first.
So you couldn't just have a text message.
You actually called their landline and asked if they were available.
Wow.
You know, when you talk to the Senate about the 90s, you might as well be talking about the Civil War because it's the same thing.
It's old history.
You made plans in advance.
You agreed to meet at the mall in advance.
And if you missed each other at the food court, there was no live location pin to save you.
So if you couldn't find people, you were out of luck.
You know what
the best part about those cell phones and nothing like that?
When we went on to every year growing up, my father took the first two weeks in August off.
We went on a vacation wherever we went and you couldn't contact us.
He just couldn't do it because and he couldn't contact anybody.
because, you know, when you went to a pay phone and it made it the long distance call, you better have a pocket full of chains to get that call through.
So you just didn't do it.
At the end of two weeks, we just hoped our home was still there.
And, you know, that was it.
The 1990s.
Wow.
36 years ago.
That's a long time.
Yeah.
Let's go over the top movies that are out again this week.
So people, in case they're just tuning in now, got a couple of new releases out there.
What are they?
Yeah.
The first one is a vendors end game on core.
That's a re-release.
for everyone to get a taste of what's going on before Avengers.
Doomsday gets the screens in December.
You've got prime time raiders and Robert Pattinson.
This is an amazing film, getting 87% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
He plays television host Chris Hansen and a team behind to catch Predator set in 2006.
You have Heart of the Beast rated PG 13.
That stars Brad Pitt as a former Special Forces soldier that crashes in Alaska with one companion, his combat dog Odin.
And then you have the animated movie that we just talked about Forgotten Island, which is spectacular on screen as well.
So lots of different things to go see, lots to do with the movies.
So go check it out.
I mean, there is something for everyone at the movies.
And as we just rattled off, all four new release movies are very highly rated and are wonderful as a selection to go see this weekend.
And just to remind you that Theranos movie, the story of Elizabeth Holmes, when is that due out?
Yeah, that is coming out in October.
So you'll see that mid-October.
Oh, that gots must see.
