All right, we're talking the harbor fest. Now you guys can be a little closer to the microphone there. I'm going to hear every word you have to say. We've Gary Suco with Jeff Marsh from harbor fest here.
We're getting down to the nitty-gritty and it's opening up on Friday the 13th. That's good or bad luck for you guys. I think it's going to be a good look. Awesome. You're going to be a little closer. Okay, good.
This is the harbor fest where people don't know the history of it. When I first moved to Racine, harbor fest was there. Then it didn't wasn't there for a while. Now it's back again. This is the first year it's back, right? That is correct. And so what is harbor fest where people trying to get a handle on this?
Well, let's say what I would almost refer to as a mini summer fest music, food, a lot of friendships. Everybody can come down and enjoy Friday from three to 11 Saturday, Saturday, noon till 11.
And enjoy that. We have some great entertainment that Jeff's going to talk about. And we have the food trucks down there and it's going to be a thing.
Just have food trucks. That way you don't have to do anything. Yeah, it's the food trucks and they take care of everything. What a that just takes away a lot of the anxiety.
Oh, make sure everything's ready. Just pull up the food trucks. Absolutely. Logistically, it's perfect. They don't need to set up all this equipment. They don't need even need electricity.
Well, they have generators on board. So. Yes. So they don't even need to have a plug in the wall. Exactly. Yeah. How many are you going to have?
We're going to have about seven. Okay. Yep. In addition, we're going to have charcoal grill there, which Jeff is the owner of the charcoal grill restaurants and they will be there as well.
My favorite charcoal grill the ribs. Great ribs. You guys have the best ribs. You know, I was in Kansas City once and we went to this rib place. And it is. I'm trying to remember very famous sauce. And I can't remember the barbecue sauce.
It was the worst ribs I ever had in my life. It was just awful. And they owned the brand of I can't think of the barbecue sauce off the top of my head here.
And I said, we got to go there Kansas City ribs. I mean, this is the worst. Yeah. And I told them they said, and I even said to them, back right, we have charcoal grill. Those are the best ribs.
They just fall right off the bone. They're good. And I love them. And so yeah, excellent. Yeah, Kansas City ribs have a little tug to them.
No, this wasn't a tug. This was just bad. Okay. Okay. What is the barbecue sauce? It's the masterpiece.
Casey masterpiece. Yeah. It was their restaurant. Okay. It was the original restaurant. And I was so disappointed.
I could have just stayed in Racine and had my ribs. Yeah, we use sweet baby raisins. We've been using sweet baby raisins for.
I use the home two years. Yeah, sweet baby raisins. Good stuff. Yeah. All right. So we can talk about the food now that I'm going to go through the restaurants that we're going to have.
Starting, you know, off we got Peacos, great Mexican food. Smokey boys, barbecue. They're going to be doing ribs and brisket and other things.
Yeah. That's my newest thing now, brisket. Brisket's great. Everybody's offering brisket. Now I love it. Yeah. And Peacos, I go to the three mile road one.
There was a Peacos over there. Great food. Great food. And then we have obviously charcoal grill.
We have the pizza guy serving pizza, kippers, dippers. It's a dessert, fruit snacks and coffee, shiver shack, shaved ice, lemon ice,
a ziz table, which is Asian food and bluesy box, which is a kind of Chicago style, brats, dogs, Italians, beef and euros.
Where do they park? They're going to be on the west side of the grounds. So they're going to be inside the ground inside the ground.
Inside the ground. All right. I didn't know if they're going to be outside or whatever.
So give us a low down on the cost, parking, all that kind of stuff. Well, general mission tickets at the door are $10.
But you can buy them online right now for $8 in advance.
And once you get inside the park, you'll pay individually at each food truck or at the pizza or at the charcoal grill.
You'll pay. We will take cash, credit or debit. Okay, but you okay.
Now the food truck guys, that would be individually, whether they accept the credit or not, but the ticket booths, which is going to be for all your beverages.
Yeah. That's going to be cash, credit or debit. And the way that's going to work is it's a $7 to get one ticket.
The one ticket will either get you a 16 ounce beer, like a cooler's light and Miller light or a 12 ounce craft beer or a seltzer 12 ounce.
And if you prefer soda and water, you would get two of those for the $7 ticket price.
So we think it's very reasonable. We wanted to, you know, make this affordable for everybody and really have a big turnout this first year.
So we think we're doing it, right? See, I use cash running to these places. I was at the post office the other day a couple of days ago.
I went to buy a book of stamps and she said, oh, no, we don't take cash at this window. The post office doesn't take cash.
How does that happen? No, you have to go to that window down there. The one with the long line.
And who doesn't take cash at the post office? What was that about? That's crazy. Anyway, so good because I cash just kidding.
Yeah, I used to kid everybody saying, you know, years ago, you still take cash and they don't have, of course, but now it's true that the business don't.
So what's some of the music? All right, music lineup, starting off Friday, June 13th at 4 p.m. We have the Garden of Eden.
They're a Nashville classic rock act. Zeppelin Eagles. All your good classic rock.
And that's on the Miller light stage. And then after that, we have feels like the first time a foreigner tribute band from 8 to 11.
Duke Box hero. There you go.
And then the charcoal grill stage from 3 30 to 6 30. We have Stephen Hall experience, local blues.
And from 7 30 to 10 30, we have in the sticks, which is not a stick tribute band. It is a modern country band.
And then moving on to Saturday, June 14th, the course light stage. We have the sociables from 4 to 7. It's a classic rock band.
And then we have the big country act, Bella Kane from 8 p.m. to 11.
They've got some huge following. They have a huge following. I mean, we were fortunate to get them.
I remember the first time I never heard of them. There's a couple of several years ago.
And I was working to the radio station, not here. And they said, we got Bella Kane. I said, yes, so.
You don't know, Bella Kane. And everybody in the station, when they found out was going crazy.
And now I found out, wow, they're one of the hottest acts around. Yeah, they're phenomenal. They do a great job.
He has a nice relationship with the bands because he also owns a Nashville, North up Milwaukee.
They book a lot of bands. So because of his relationship with these bands, we're able to get some nice talent this year.
And of course, Bella Kane is the headliner on the crew's light flagship stage on Saturday.
And that is when we're expecting huge crowds. We're going to keep our fingers crossed for good weather, please.
I want to hear my story about booking bands. This is way back in the 70s.
Then we got to take quick break. I worked at a radio company called Susquehana Broadcasting at the time.
They own stations all over the country. And in Ohio, they booked, they rented an arena.
And the arena for rock bands wasn't that big at the time. It was a new concept.
And they booked Sline the Family Stone as the main act. And they sold all the seats.
Everybody was going to make their money. I'm concert night. The opening act played.
No Sline in the Family Stone. They never showed up.
And Sebastian Stone, Slice Stone. He was known for not showing up at events.
And when I found out, I said, how did you ever book this act? You know he's got a bad reputation.
And they had to give everybody their money back. And they sued Sline, you know, Sebastian.
I think his name was Celeste Stone. I'm trying to think of the Sline Stone.
Anyway, so they sued him. And they banned all his records from the radio stations.
At the time, he had the number one song Family Affair. And I'd say we're not going to play it.
Never on these stations. We didn't, while I was there.
No, it's tough booking act. Now it's I think it's a little, I think they're a little more business savvy.
They are. But back during the Sline Stone days, wow.
Imagine booking that guy and the arena is filled. And he doesn't show up.
Yeah. But these guys will show up. Yeah. Okay.
Can I finish or do you have to go to break? Oh, finish.
So then on the charcoal growth stage.
And this is Saturday, June 14th, starting at noon. We have Stone Theory, original rock.
And it's a local band. Moving on from 330 to 630, weird science, 80s party ban.
They're also local. And then a heart to heart breakers starts at 730 to 1030.
Heart and pet Benatar tribute band.
Jeff Mark and Gary Sukor here. I would talk about all the music, the food.
And that we're talking about those ribs before at the charcoal grill.
Now I'm starving because they didn't even breakfast yet.
I just run out of the house in the morning. And one of the time I get home, I'm ravenous.
And I'm not having ribs when I get home. I got news for you.
Okay. So let's talk about the unique volunteers. How does this work?
Yeah. Right now we have a nice lineup of a lot of people did volunteer for the event, which we need.
But we still need some more. We're down to about less than 12, less than a dozen.
And it's mostly the 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday night.
So if you're interested, please go to Racine Harbor Fest dot com.
There's an area to fill out, to contact us. I'm Gary.
I'll be the one to get back with you. I'll email you immediately with, you know, the information.
And we'd love to have you. So please, we need a few more.
What do you want to do when I get there?
Well, as far as the volunteers, there's different shifts available.
We have the beverage servers are now filled, but we have ID check table.
We have the ticket booths where people buy those tickets to purchase beverages.
So there's different areas. We are going to have a little orientation at four o'clock on Wednesday and four o'clock on Thursday.
But you do not have to be there. If you want to come those days, you come and you check in.
Hey, I'm here. I'm ready to volunteer. You get the Harbor Fest official Harbor Fest volunteer t-shirt.
And we'll explain all of that. We have a special parking area for the VIP people.
So they get better and better.
And they'll get a drink ticket and things of that sort.
But if not, you just show up for your shift.
And we'll be able to guide you to where you start at the volunteer check in table.
We're here. They'll guide you to where you have to show up to start your shift.
And there's going to be other people. You're not by yourself on any of those shifts.
So somebody else there will probably already have been trained.
And we can say, hey, this is what you have to do. But it's also easy to beverage.
Just grab a ticket and give them a beer.
Yeah, and there's short shifts too. So they can enjoy the music before or after.
I want to do the ID check table because I want to, you talk about for drinking purposes.
Yes. Okay. I want to look at them, give them the evil eyes.
And they say, you say you're 21. I don't buy it by, I don't buy that gray hair.
No, I don't buy it at all. I want to see more proof. I want to see your birth certificate.
I want to see three witnesses you grew up with. I want to know all this information.
And then you trick them. What year were you born?
And I tell you the year, how old are you?
That's what I wanted.
Even to the address.
Yeah, I see all that stuff on YouTube and the police videos. I want to do that.
I want to do that job.
But yeah.
Everybody's going to, if you're, if you want to purchase, I'll call beverages.
You get a wristband. And that way the people serving don't have to worry about serving to an underage person.
But getting back also down to the tickets, we also have some VIP tickets still available.
Those are $75.
And what that is gets you admission to the event gets you into the VIP room.
The VIP room, you'll have a wristband.
You get four beverages of your choice. We're going to have alcohol in there as well.
You have an area, a patio area right outside the VIP.
But then in addition, there's going to be about a third of the stage on both stages that are roped off for front row viewing.
So if you really want to see Balakaine up close, get a VIP ticket.
And besides, and there's also going to be food in the VIP lounge.
And that's brought to us by Educator's Credit Union.
So besides the food and beverage there, you can have a front row seat to see the X.
Whoa, backstage.
And there'll be charcoal grill ribs in the VIP room.
Oh, were they really?
Absolutely.
I want to be the ID checker.
I want to give one of these, I don't believe a word you're saying.
Yes, but my grandchildren with me.
I don't care. You don't look 21.
Okay, so people just tuning in right now.
Let's do a quick recap for them.
Are they talking right?
Harbor fest coming up on the 13th and 14th, right?
13th and 14th Friday the 13th.
Any problems with that date, by the way, or is that just?
Not for me.
It's going to be great.
I think it's going to be good luck.
Okay, that's so too.
Okay, so Harbor fest coming to festival park.
It hasn't been there for years.
Now it's coming back with a vengeance.
And you've got some great music acts.
How many food trucks again?
Seven.
Seven food trucks, all different types of food.
I love food trucks.
I love every type of food.
And so you just eat, eat, eat, eat, eat.
You enjoy some great music on the grounds.
Tickets are 10 bucks.
You can't even give it to the movies for 10 bucks anymore.
10 bucks, you got the whole evening ahead of you.

The VIP treatment, which is kind of nice.
And you need volunteers.
How many you need left?
We're down to 10 or 12.
How do they contact you?
Recene Harbor fest.com.
And there's a spot on there to volunteer.
And it sends an email to us.
The original three founders of this bringing this event back.
Besides myself, Jeff and Mark Wittenberg.

Harbor Fest is coming up.
I want to thank Gary Succo and Jeff Marsh.
Don't close it in the morning.
