And good morning, it's seven away to WRGN local news, timeless hits, passed a Lynn
nice is here. And it's nice, right? I'm going to make sure I'm pronouncing everybody's
name correctly. Nice, okay, giving to the nations, you know, there are so many needs in
this world that you can't possibly imagine. Now, when you think it needs, people think
of, oh, I need food, I need money. But there are other things you need to and your organization
takes care of. These are hygiene products for people because it's a necessary thing. It's
not just food. You got to take care of your body, you got to take care of, keep it clean.
I mean, you need these products and sometimes you can't get a hold of them through different
agencies, but that's what your agency is dedicated to, right? Yes, 100%.
But how did this all start? Well, this actually started back in 2017 when we were looking
at the needs in the community. And in researching, at that time, we saw a lot of food pantries
that were closing, that were associated with churches. And so we thought, okay, well,
we need more food pantries than that because these are closing. And found that indeed that
that, I mean, you always need food and there's always that need for food, but there's a lot
of food pantries out there and there's a lot of food pantries out there. But when looking
at the need of what they were serving and who was being served, we thought that no one
was handling hygiene products. That hygiene products was not something. Food pantries
had them if they got donated, which was a rarity because people don't think to donate hygiene
products to food because they do food and they do what they do very well. So that's how
we got started on the hygiene was seeing that, that unmet need or more often unbed,
undermet need and most often unmet need for the hygiene. Now, I see a ton of products
you need and people think, well, hygiene products, so what else do you need? There's a lot
of stuff you need. Want to run through some of the products on the list here? Oh, yeah.
So what we hope with is the odorant, shampoo, conditioner, bar soap, hand soap, shaving
cream, razors, body wash, body lotion, feminine products, toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss,
and then we do, we help with the babies, we do wipes, ointment, baby wash, baby lotion,
and then to hit the house to make sure that we need to keep everything clean. The people,
you know, are people in homes, right? The household detergent, multipurpose cleaner, disinfectant
wipes, trash bags, paper towels, toilet paper, laundry, detergent, and dryer sheets. So
in all of this real basic essentials to keep us in our homes clean.
Here are the stats. I was really knocked out by this. You've already served nearly 6,000
people with almost 70,000 products. Wow. Yes. Yes. That's a lot. Now, how do you need
money donated? Do you need products donated? How does this work? Well, actually both,
actually, monetary is always amazing because of the fact that we have found some really
good suppliers, really good wholesalers that have good products so we can get them in large
sizes. And when I'm talking about large sizes, I'm looking at like, you know, 20 ounces
for shampoos, you know, your larger deodorants, you know, 15 to 20 accounts for the pantylander
things, stuff like that. So we, you know, so we can really, we've really got to where
we can make that monetary contribution stretch really far with some great products, goods,
really good sizes. But then also the products themselves are always greatly welcomed. And
we actually have out on our website, under our donate page, there's an area, one of the
areas to donate and there's several different options to support is under hygiene. And under
that piece, there's actually the list that I had actually read off. And it actually gives
all those products. And it also gives our requested size or our suggested sizes as far
as okay, this is really what we would like to see. We'll take, you know, larger will take
smaller, but this is really what we'd like to see that we found work that works the best
for our families for how often we serve the families.
Now, I found out money is good. And I'll tell you why when we ran coats for the children
here years ago, we ran a coach for the children charity. People donate coats, but if they
donated money, I was able to go to stores and buy coats for literally pennies on the
dollar. They would sell me because they were out of season or whatever they were, you
know, they were out of season. So, you know, maybe a $30 coat would cost us five bucks.
So it was nice. So when you donate money, you can finagle these people to giving you
some really good value, you know, a lot of products for pennies on the dollar, which is
really good.
Yes, exactly. And that, yes, I agree with you. I had a percent.
Yeah. Okay. So if somebody wants to donate money or donate products, how do they do it?
You can't donate products to the mail. It's not going to work or online. But if you want
to donate, first of all, money, how do you donate money to the giving to the nations?
Oh, sure. So you can go on our website at giving to the nations.org. Everything else
spelled out, no numbers or spaces in there. And there's a, under the donate tab, there's
actually a place for monetary. And then you can choose if you want to make it a one-time
donation or if you want to do a monthly donation, which we do, which is always greatly appreciated.
I mean, it's all, everything's always greatly appreciated, right? Because it all, it just
all has a positive impact. But you can put in that monetary donation, you can go right online
or else out there, it is have our mailing address where you can go ahead and if you prefer to do a
check, you can do a check. But then also there's a kind of another monetary piece out there,
which we have is, which is daft direct, which are actually donorized funds. So if you have
investments with fidelity or swab or be in my mail and you can actually give through those donor
ized funds on our website. Now, if you want to donate boxes of product, somebody can get all
of those out of they do that. They have to physically bring it in now. Yeah, no, actually, so you
can give us a call and at the 920, which is 7708884, or you can send us an email at office at giving to
the nations.org. And we will actually arrange to come pick it up. Wow, that's great. That's easy
service. And now if somebody wants to, if they need these products for themselves or their families,
how do they get them? Yes, so they can go on our website, again, at thegivingtothe nations.org.
And on your homepage, you scroll down just a touch and you'll see where it says they're healthy
essentials pantry. And if they're supplying out and when they go ahead and click on that,
the forms can be printed or if they scroll down further, the first the forms are open for them.
So they can apply right online. If they don't have access to a computer, whatever,
they can give us a call and we'll go ahead and mail them out the forms. Or if that just totally
doesn't work at all, we always have the option that will just take that information for them over the
phone. You know, that's just great. You know, and people that have money, and I'm going to talk
about loads of money, but look about they're okay. They can manage their day-to-day finances.
They can't imagine what it's like not to be able to afford this stuff. I mean, people go out
to dinner, 50, 60 bucks for one dinner and they can't imagine what it's like to not afford,
you know, toilet paper, not afford soap, shaving products, feminine products. They can't,
they can't imagine it. And I was very fortunate life where I didn't need any assistance in my life.
But you know, there are people that do just fell on hard times, whatever reason,
doesn't matter why they just fell on hard times and they need help. And I'm glad there's people
like your organization that helps them because, I mean, that must be terrible not to be able to
get soap into the house if you have children, not to get cleaning products in the house,
sanitary products. It's got to be a horrible feeling, but I'm glad there's people like you in your
organization that help them. Once again, if they want to go online, it is what?
