The Don Rosen Show (Hour 1)

The Don Rosen Show · Tue May 7, 2024

The really cool thing when you get married is you have to learn how to argue effectively,

which I did not know how to do, because I have brothers and my wife has sisters.

I get brothers. Brothers argue like, you suck, you're an idiot, you want to be a boom, that's it.

When you have sisters, my wife has five sisters. The mob doesn't hold a grudge like sisters.

This was last Christmas. Last Christmas rolls around all five sisters there and they're drunk

and they're just waiting for somebody to start the eight hour fight that will be Christmas.

You ever see a big family fight and you're not in the fight?

It's kind of cool. You sit on the couch like you're Jacques Cousteau in the shark cage.

Observe as they tear each other to pieces. But we have Snape here in Zagage.

One of the boyfriends in his first year is my seventh. He's like, what do we do? Shut up, stay low.

Keep your head down. We have Snape in Zagage.

And then the most awful thing I've ever seen. Five drunk screaming sisters in mid-argument.

I hate you, you're an idiot, you're an idiot. He stands up, he stands up in the middle of them.

Hey, don't you talk to her like that?

And Philippe Blifz again.

Sherry, baby. Sherry, can you come out tonight?

Why don't you come out? Come on, come on, we're party.

Come on, come on, we're the right one, Sherry.

Come on, come on. We'll dance tonight away.

I'm gonna make you mine, mine, Sherry.

Baby, baby. Sherry, baby.

Sherry, can you come out tonight?

Come on, come on, come on, come on, come on, come on, come on, come on, come on, come on.

So you can ask your mom, Sherry, baby.

Tell her everything is alright.

Why don't you come out?

Come on, come on, come on, come on, come on, come on.

You look so fine.

Come on, come on.

Move it nice and easy.

Girl, you make me lose my mind, Sherry.

At 609 at WRJN Radio, he's just celebrated the birthday of the day,

Frankie Valley. I don't know how old he was.

It was in his 80s, but just celebrated the birthday of the day.

It looks great. I think he still performs too.

Sherry, hey, do you see Jersey Boys?

I saw it on stage in Chicago, and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen.

Now, I saw the movie too, and it didn't even hold a candle to the Broadway show,

and it was really good. Great music.

Things I didn't know about the Four Seasons. Joe Pesci, the actor,

was a good friend of the Four Seasons growing up when I, I guess Pesci was a teenager.

He hung around the Four Seasons in Jersey.

And most of them have been to jail for odd things.

It was an amazing story. Jersey Boys,

they're ever going to chance to see the musical,

which they do that at the, at the Racine Theater Guild.

And I don't know if they can.

I don't know if it's still one of those shows they can't touch yet.

And ask them what a great show.

Hey, coming up, I'm Don Rosen.

First of all, I'll tell you who I am.

I'm Don Rosen. Thanks for joining us here at WRJN Radio.

Looking for a chance to shower some thunderstorms today with a high air 66

part of cloudy lows 52 tonight.

Sunshine tomorrow. Beautiful day.

Eyes near 69 right now. Part of cloudy 54 degrees at 10 minutes past six.

I have Melissa Donaldson coming up.

She's ahead of digital services and innovation at the Racine Public Library.

She is coming your way at about 7 o'clock this morning.

Catch the Kentucky Derby this past weekend.

I missed it. I forgot it was on.

Anyway, if you caught the Kentucky Derby or watch him in,

be a playoff action this weekend.

A study in Japan found that regularly watching sports is good for your mental health.

That makes us happier, especially if you bet on the winner, the Kentucky Derby.

And you see that photo finish three horses within a nose length

of winning the Kentucky Derby.

It was that close.

And nowadays they don't have to develop a picture.

I mean, it's on video in the old days.

They had to take a snack.

They had a camera.

Stop a picture and they had to develop it and you had to wait.

Now it's this video.

But literally three within a nose of one of the Kentucky Derby.

I know nothing about horses.

But I know that, you know, you want to pick a winner.

A woman's resume hack is all over TikTok because it's brilliant.

And because it's weird, you have to go to these lengths this year, 2024.

It all hinges on the fact that companies are now using AI to filter out job candidates.

Here's the hack.

Just copy the entire job description and paste it somewhere onto your resume

in the tiniest font possible.

Then make the font white to what's invisible.

AI will still see it.

And you'll have all the keywords.

It's looking for to get that job.

But you just get yourself qualified.

And I think I'm saying yesterday.

I never had a, never had to apply for a job before.

I know what it's like.

I never had a, maybe I did.

I never had a, I never had a job interview in my life.

Well, maybe at once I did.

Once way back to the 70s, I had a job interview.

But I had the job.

They just wanted to meet me.

Radio is different.

He's to send a tape and resume in.

If they liked it, they did.

If they didn't, they didn't.

They didn't care if you were serial killer.

And as long as you sounded good on the radio,

people on social media talking about the unexpected things.

It makes someone hot.

They include kindness.

Showing empathy and being on good terms with your exes.

See, I do all those things, but I'm still not hot.

So I don't know what my problem.

I'm missing something.

All right.

In moron news,

a school district in Ohio was on lockdown last week.

Bigfoot spotted walking the grounds.

It was apparent playing a prank.

Prosecutors are reviewing it.

May press charges.

Ready for a hero.

All right.

Here's some hero news.

A storm chaser saved a family of four live on YouTube last Thursday.

I saw this on ABC World News.

They showed it.

A tornado destroyed their house near Abilene, Texas.

The tornado watcher chaser storm chaser just happened to be nearby and yelled for them to

jump in his car.

Also got the dog too.

Their son was throwing 25 feet pretty banged up.

They're all okay out of the hospital.

Thanks to this good Samaritan storm chaser who happened to be at the right place.

At the right time.

You can see the terror on their face as they're limping along running toward his car.

And there's things flying everywhere from the tornadoes to get my car.

He drove into safety.

Just happened to be in the right place of the right time.

Who knows what would have happened to them.

Especially that little boy.

Good for that storm chaser.

A guy in Louisiana named Matt Busbys.

We'll just call him Matt.

Now, walking up by a fire alarm at his condo turned out to be a false alarm.

But he was up.

He went out to get some coffee.

He looked all disheveled.

He ran into a nine year old kid named Kelvin.

Kelvin saw him.

If that he was a homeless man.

So he walked up and Kelvin tried to give Matt a dollar,

which was all the money he had.

Now Matt owns a sporting goods store in Baton Rouge and decided to thank

Kelvin by giving him a 42nd shopping spree.

Got a bunch of cool stuff including a brand new bike.

See, it pays to be nice in this world.

Be nice to somebody.

You never know how it's going to be.

All right.

So it's good to have a backup plan in case your main job doesn't work out.

Case in point, Michael Jordan got a degree in cultural geography from the

University of New South Carolina.

So that's the case.

That basketball career didn't work out.

Wanted to be a weatherman.

Turns out it worked out well for him.

Showbiz news who wants to be a millionaire returning to ABC July 10th to celebrate

his 25th anniversary.

Jimmy Kimmel.

Funny man.

Well, host and celebrities will compete for charity.

See, I like game shows where they don't put comedians in there.

When you think about the best game shows ever now who wants to be a millionaire originally,

I think they had a, I'm trying to remember, was it a woman, a British woman hosting?

I'm trying to remember Regis Philbin.

I know did.

But I mean, it was a straight game show password.

Island Lutton, one of the most dull boring people you ever want to meet.

What a great show password.

Jeopardy with Alex Trebek, no comedy, the game shows only ran was the game show.

Nowadays you got to have a comedian up there

doing the game shows and they take away from the actual, you know, fun of the game.

That's just my opinion.

They bring opinions or welcome.

Madonna played to 1.6 million fans in Copic about a beach and Rio de Janeiro.

Do you see that?

Wow, what a crowd run on the beach too.

It was her biggest crowd ever.

However, people are saying it was the biggest crowd ever on the beach.

It was not Rod Stewart more than double that to 4 million fans.

Same beach 1994.

And Darryl Hall confirmed of what we already know.

All the notes are no more.

Now Randy Travis, he confirmed that AI was used for his new song that came out on Friday.

It's actually pretty amazing too because the song is called Where That Came From.

In his first new song, since his near fatal stroke in 2013, the Rob Demas of his voice,

he now can sing again, thanks to AI.

You hear his, well, you hear a replica of his voice.

I would have managed to sign him singing a replica of his voice from AI.

Right now you don't need me anymore.

Just get AI in him.

Sure, a lot of people will be happy.

Oh, yeah, get a road.

We are rid of Rosen.

Oh, wait a second.

What's that?

Sounds just like him.

AI, get rid of that too.

A new report says we may be getting closer to getting an exercise pill.

My dream come true.

But let's be honest, it's never going to be healthy just sitting around on your couch,

old day, binging on Netflix.

So the pills are really not going to help that much.

Don't they have it now is invite or vitamins like

supposed to be like the exercise pill take vitamins every day.

People over 60 are warning younger adults now of things that they wasted too much time on

when they were younger.

They include trying to be friends with people who didn't want to be friends.

People pleasing, overworking, cleaning that what I don't get.

And here's mine.

Worrying about things that are out of your control.

I always do that and concern myself with things that I can't control.

I love my wife when she does.

She doesn't, I can't control that.

So she just ignores it.

My daughter's same thing.

What am I going to do?

Why concern myself at all?

Why get anxious over it?

Man, I wish I could be like that.

I'm not.

Sometimes I'll think deep and say, I can't control that and I calm down.

You know, it's like the elections.

Now I can't, I could one vote.

I can't control everything.

All right, how do I miss this?

National eat what you want to.

I think I think it was already or maybe it's coming up.

National eat what you want to.

Anyway, what would you choose here?

Someone that maps up different foods and over 50,000 people voted.

Sandwich or burger.

60% said burger pizza or french fries.

63% went with the pizza pepperoni or plain cheese.

That was a tie 50, 50 cake or cupcakes.

53% said cake.

That's not bad.

Vanilla or chocolate?

I go with vanilla.

Go down to your base estimate.

They draw a vanilla ice cream though.

53% said vanilla.

Yes.

And finally, waffles or pancakes?

50, 50.

I like both.

Maybe pancakes a little more.

619 WRJ and Hulk Town Radio Refressed.

I don't care how much money I got this pen.

I got to get back to my baby.

The only days ago, I'm a going home.

My baby, Mr. Hulk, me a little.

When she wrote me a letter, said she couldn't live,

but I'm in no mode.

Listen, Mr. Kenshi, see I got to get back to my baby once I'm home.

Anyway, yet, I got to get back to my baby once I'm home.

With the pimp at my baby, Mr. Hulk, me a little.

When she wrote me a letter, said she couldn't live,

but I'm in no mode.

Listen, Mr. Kenshi, see I got to get back to my baby once I'm home.

Anyway, yet, there's a ticket for an aeroplane.

We've got time to take a phase.

One minute, 50 seconds long.

I don't make those, so I didn't work, do they?

You figure anybody can write a minute and a half song, right?

There's a song shorter than that.

Sunshine Lollipops and Rainbows by Leslie Gore,

I think was a minute 30.

It's, you know, who can't write a 90-second song?

That was number one.

That was the last number one song in America ever

to be under two minutes, one minute, 50 seconds.

I remember when I got the 45 RPM to the letter when I was a kid.

Every time somebody got a new 45 RPM, we always ran over someone's house

and put it on the record player to listen to it over and over and over and over and over and over again.

Went over Donnie Schultz's house.

We had two Donalds on my block.

Me and Donnie Schultz, I was Donald.

He had to be called Donnie.

And that's why he's called Donnie.

All his life, he's been called Donnie, I guess,

because there were two Donalds on the block.

So one had to be Donald, one had to be Donnie.

I came along first.

So he was Donnie, just so we can separate the two of us.

But we'll ran over his house with my, my box top song, the letter.

Love that.

It's a big chance to save.

Tell mom you paid full retail.

She'll believe you.

Take cover of this money.

Melissa Donaldson's going to be here.

She's the head of digital services and innovation

at the Racine Public Library.

She'll be in the 706.

I want to remind you,

the pancake breakfast is coming up.

The EAA chapter 838 at Baton Field.

That's where they're going to have the big breakfast.

It's coming up Saturday, 8am to noon.

Adults $10, children five.

They're going to use the money for scholarships

for young adults who want to get into aviation.

I think that's a great idea.

That's just a great idea.

And the roller derby girls are going to make the breakfast.

They're going to have eggs too.

Eggs, pancakes, sausages.

You name it.

I'm going because I'm starving now.

I didn't need breakfast this morning for a camera.

I just had a little instant breakfast drink.

That's all I had.

All right.

Can you make money from AI?

Is it profitable?

A 23-year-old influencer named Karen Marjory created

an AI chatbot version of herself.

And she's charging a bucket minute to talk to it.

She says in the first week alone,

hold on to this.

In one week, she made $70,000.

She thinks it could eventually bring in 5 million per month.

So just to talk to an AI version of her,

you have to pay a buck.

70,000 people did it.

Wow.

Looking for vacation ideas.

Sounds like everybody in America digs road trips.

83% of people have a positive opinion of them.

And less than 10% of people have a negative option.

And it's similar across all demographics.

My wife and I before COVID,

every year we went on a new road trip.

We've been everywhere.

We've been on Route 66 going through Illinois, Missouri.

We didn't go Kansas.

We did Oklahoma, Texas.

We went on Route 66.

We did that a couple of times.

We did, we went out to Nebraska.

We did a whole bunch of great.

You think there's nothing to do out there, but there is.

Went to Wyoming.

We went to Devil's Tower where they filmed a little bit of

closing counters in the third kind at Devil's Tower.

That's really a great trip.

Let's see.

We went down to Virginia on a road trip.

Went to Florida on a road trip.

We went to Kentucky to go to the arc down there.

The replica of Noah's Ark.

Road trips are fun.

They really are.

But you got to have someone like my wife plan it out

because she spends weeks.

She's planning out another road trip for us.

A weekend road trip we're going to do on the Great River Road

in Wisconsin.

We're going to probably go in my brother and my sister-in-law.

We'll see and go on this, you know, a two-day road trip.

But she plans everything out so well.

And that's what you need.

She knows exactly where you're going to be when you're going to be.

Oh, we also went to South Dakota to go to, um,

not rush more.

We did that.

But you do so many things along the way if you have a good road trip planner.

And she happens to be a good road trip planner.

So that's really neat.

All right.

For today, we got showers and thunderstorms,

highs near 66.

Part of cloudy tonight.

Lose 52 sunshine tomorrow.

Beautiful day.

Highs near 69.

I'm glad I mowed the lawn yesterday.

Doesn't sound like it's going to be movable today.

Now we're doing that no mo may thing in our backyard.

And the grass is getting really high and it's hard to mow.

So I mowed a little bit of it yesterday.

I'm going to mow a little bit each day.

So by the end of May, it doesn't look like a tiger hunt in the backyard where I get, you know,

you know, it's manageable.

That's what I'm looking for.

Yes, a road trip.

Great idea.

Plan amount of the COVID's gone.

You can go back on your road trips again.

Try Route 66.

You'll love it.

Here's a life saving tech device for you.

A guy in Minnesota says is Apple Watch saved his life.

He was outside his house when someone driving by hit him with their car and took off.

Hit and run.

His Apple Watch immediately sends the impact called 911 and also texted his wife.

He ended up with a broken tailbone and some cracked ribs.

They'll be okay.

The driver was a 17 year old kid turned himself in later on.

Wow, that's pretty neat, huh?

There's your life saving device, the Apple Watch.

My smartphone wouldn't do anything like that.

It's good to know you're making the most of AI.

The weirdest questions that have come up asking chat GPT questions include,

can you help me write a love letter to a tree?

Can you help me find a unicorn?

Is it possible to train a hamster to play the guitar?

And would you rather fight 100 duck size horses or one horse sized duck?

It's so good.

We're putting that technology to use some questions.

People are, you know, out of it.

All right, what else we got?

Oh, fun facts.

People search Google about health problems more on Monday than any other day of the week.

Probably because we feel so awful waking up after a weekend to go to work.

Coca-Cola is Dr. Pepper.

The clone had four name changes since it was introduced.

All right, it started out as Peppo in 1972, became Dr. Pib later on.

Remember that?

And changed to Mr. Pib in 1973 after Dr. Pepper sued.

It became Pib Extra in 2001.

I remember that was their clone.

That was their version of Dr. Pepper, Dr. Pib.

And they really think they can get away with that.

There must have been some attorney there who said, you can't do that.

All right, got local news coming up from Stuart J. Wattles in a few minutes.

We'll find out what's going on in our hometown.

Right now, it's party cloudy 54 degrees in radial parts.

99.9 FM, 98.1 FM, and the legendary 1400-8.

That was our big fear.

They're like, you fall into all well.

People won't find you for three or four days.

I'm like, three or four days.

How about if I don't come home tonight?

You go looking for me.

Like, I'm not a world traveler out here.

You got a pretty good idea where I'm going to be.

Maybe walk around out there listening for somebody going,

hey, that'll be me trapped in an old well.

That'll be an old well, though.

New well, people just come back cranky right out of there, I guess.

Old well, people just come back throw change in there.

You make a little money down in an old well.

Tough to spend it, but you can make it down there.

People come try to rescue you and they're like,

you do have a drop all that change.

I'm like, now you come back with stronger people.

I made this money down here.

I'm down here doing well.

I'm down here doing well.

I'm down here doing well.

I'm down here doing well.

I'm down here doing well.

.

Fieldammans.

The lord for the nighttime, good, Boy continu on Rose in 637 WRG in radio.

showered some thunderstorms likely to be with a high near 66 party clowning tonight,

lows around 52 tomorrow, sunny with under 69 and it's part of Claudio Radio Park 54 degrees.

Thanks for joining us here today on this, let me see her Tuesday.

I was so track of, you know, used to make fun of old people when they lost track of the,

what the hell is it? I don't know what time we're am I, I've become them, but that's the problem.

All right, Brett Hoffman is here. We're going to find out the weekend box office top five,

Brett from Marcus theaters. Brett, what do we have? Well, number five was Godzilla X Kong,

the new empire pulling in 4.5 million dollars. This movie is now the number two grossing Godzilla

movie of all time, just slightly behind the 2014 film, which is titled, Godzilla.

And number four was the first weekend for Sony's horror film, Tarot, which are in 6.5 million.

And number three was last week's number one movie, Challenger, Starings and Day, with 7.6 million.

And number two was a re-release, celebrating its 25th anniversary over Star Wars Day, May the 4th.

Star Wars Episode One, the Phantom Men has brought out many audience members.

Some of them in full costume to enjoy the movie on the big screen.

It opened in second place with 8.1 million dollars.

And the number one new movie was the full guy from Universal Pictures.

This action comedy starring Emily Blunt and Ryan and Gaffing took in 28.5 million dollars

to win the box office crown. This upcoming weekend, Hollywood Summer continues with the

most anticipated release of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. Go check out our movie today.

By that plan of the Apes, by the way, thank you for threats back here on Friday morning.

He'll be here. And now we have an extended Friday morning piece with Brett because

he will be talking about the cinema con that he just came from recently.

So that's going to be a little extended. Plus some summer movie information from Brett as well.

That's coming up Friday morning 730 at WRJN. If those planet of the Apes movies,

they just keep on coming. If you see some of the early ones like the original with Charlton

Heston is kind of creaky because they wore mask, rubber masks, and then they'll do that anymore.

They now have this CGI thing going on with the faces. So it's really not it's not the same.

I don't think anything's going to take the place in the first one. The second one was

and the third one was okay. Escape from the plan of the Apes. Actually went to the world

premiere of Escape for the plan of the Apes. It was in New York. My parents took me to the

Aster theater in Times Square where they have the opening day thing for Escape from the plan of

the Apes. I can't believe they took me to see that movie. I mean, my parents were not.

Well, they went to the original plan of the Apes. Maybe they did like them. I don't know.

Well, it was like a 1971 72 around there. All right. Rolling Stone put out a list of the top

100 best sitcoms of all time. Finally, a list where they go back a little bit and said it's just

doing current ones. Number 14 on the list was the Andy Griffiths show preceded by the Dick van

Dyke show, the Larry Sanders show Parks and Rec. The honey boners probably the best of all time.

All 39 episodes of the honey boners. The Mary Tyler Moore show mash. I still watch mash.

I still watch it all on the family. I love Lucy. My wife. That's her favorite show of all time.

Seinfeld. I watched my DVDs last night of Seinfeld. Cheers. And now number one, the Simpsons.

Good list. Excellent. They're all my favorite shows. It's almost like I made up the list.

All right. I guess this is one way to pitch your product to a target audience. A group of elderly

tourists in China all paid to go on a sightseeing tour recently. It was actually just a way to

get them to go to a cemetery for a sales pitch. A local tourism office there is investigating

the people who ran that sightseeing tour. That was kind of a rip off.

They have any good habits that sometimes make you feel worse. 34% of people

meditated say made them more anxious than before they started.

Two and five have felt sick to their stomach after eating something healthy.

And over a third of us have felt sick. The smell of arrow. Oh, the aroma therapy. Yeah,

the aroma therapy stuff. The candle. Anything healthy. Make me not feel well.

A 7-11 store just opened in Japan. Yep. Brand new store in the parking lot of another 7-11 store.

The original 7-11 was a franchise and the owner hated keeping it up 24 keeping it open 24 hours

a day. He battled with 7-11 corporate, but refused to give up his store. So 7-11 found he

decided the only option was to open another 7-11 store as close as possible in his parking lot.

See originally called 7-11 because they were open from 7-am to 11 p.m. That's why it's 7-11.

Now all of a sudden they want to be open 24 hours a day. I don't think we have a 24 hours 7-11

here. Do I have one 7-11 in the area? A survey of people rank which pet peeves bother them the

most. We're most annoyed by tailgators and slow drivers in the fast lane. Absolutely. We're more

annoyed by people who always complain on social media than people who are always bragging.

And we're more annoyed by people who complain about the heat. People who complain about the cold.

Yeah, tailgators. I have them this morning too and they just get run on your bumper and say

I'm not going to go any faster. So a warning. If you see my car, don't tailgate. You're not going

to get me to move faster. You know, it just doesn't happen. I won't move slower, but I'm not going to

move faster. You're put on notice. All right. We got news coming up from Stuart J. Wattles in our

news center. And these are the stories that Stuart is watching out for today. The president will be

in receipt for lunch. The White House says released a few more details about President Joe Biden's

trip to Racine County tomorrow. The journal sent the reports is remarks will be about Microsoft

increasing their operations in the area. They've brought up a lot about the former Foxconn land

and are building data service servers. The motorcade will likely impact traffic on the interstate in

the mid-morning and again in mid afternoon. I hope I'm saying this right. DeGroote, a deGroote,

I'm sorry, deGroote is in place. I should say deGroote is in the race for the 66th Mount Pleasant

Billage Board President. David DeGroote has announced he's running as a Republican for the

assembly seat and says the incumbent is one of the more reasons why gridlock is in the state.

The group's campaign announcement says Greta Newbauer represents the partisanship in Madison.

And he says he'll focus on getting things done. The new 66 district includes part of

Racine Elmwood Park, Sturgeon and most of Mount Pleasant. Christian Coother is also running as

a Republican in the race. And some ball games at Cliffside Park have come to a halt due to a

driver causing damage. The grounds keepers at the Racine Park are optimistic about clearing the

tire tracks from the Northwest Diamond by the end of the week. Someone decided to drive all over

the field all over the weekend resulting in widespread damage. The grounds crew estimates the

total damage to be around $2,000. I saw it. What a mess. Why do people do those kind of things?

All right, mom's day is coming up. Mother's day. Don't forget. A survey has moms what kind of food

they want from Mother's Day. Expensive seafood came in first. Excuse me. Seafood came in first.

All right. What would you do for a year of perfect sleep? Sleep. 34% of us would give up alcohol.

26% would give up social media. 8% would give up their cell phone and 14%

to go to jail for a week and we'll get perfect sleep there.

Can't we see the movie? My cousin Vinnie. When Joe Paschini, he can't, the hotel's there.

There's cattle making noises. There's roosters making noises. There's trains going by

tutin' their whistles and all that kind of noise. He finally finds peace and quiet by spending

a night in jail and there's a riot going in the prison, but he's still getting a perfect night

of sleep. Had enough of your job. A global survey of 9,700 full-time employees found the top

nine reasons someone finally quits their job. Here's just some of them not getting a raise.

Nine of the opportunities to advance too much over time being punished for asking for a flexible

work schedule. But they whipped you something to punish you. Too much travel and bosses who don't

have kids and can't really understand your need for flexibility because you do have kids.

Also, telling you what records to play when you want to play your favorite songs.

Maybe that's just me. Okay, get ready to be burned out. You're ready?

All right, a study figured out the most depressing moment of the week. That happens to be,

you're ready? 152 PM on Mondays. Most depressing moment of the week makes perfect sense.

You realize you're still a four and a half days of work ahead of you until the weekend.

You're already dragging the happiest moment. 608 PM on Friday. That also makes perfect sense because

it's just when you got out of work. You have the entire weekend ahead of you. I gotta say that.

Yeah, that is a happy moment. Man, I like that. That's good. I like Fridays because I know I've

got the whole weekend ahead of me. I really do. That's good. Sunday nights. No, I don't hate them.

But I remember when I used to go to school, I used to hate Sunday nights. Oh,

got a whole week of school ahead of you. I used to love the weekends. Running late for a job

interview is stressful, which is why you should always arrive early, but instead of going inside,

find somewhere nearby where you can hang out, like a coffee shop. And don't rehearse too much

right before the interview where you'll sound scripted. And in general, don't do anything that adds

to your stress, all right? Just relax. You'll probably get the job. A lot of people say,

oh, I'm terrible. You probably do better than you think. Hey, a pancake breakfast coming up

this Saturday, EAA chapter 838. They're holding in a batten field at Saturday, 11th of

noon, adults, 10 bucks, children, five monies going toward scholarships. We're getting

deviation. I'm Don Rosen. Thanks for joining us here at WRG and hometown radio refresh,

the civic media station 99.9 FM 98.1 FM in the legendary 1,400 AM.

Well, you woke me from a dream about you just to say that you were leaving. I'm sleepy,

but I thought that you said I love that we're last forever, isn't it? Well, before you walk out of my

life, would you be especially quiet? And don't you let my heart know that you're leaving?

Don't you say another word of my darling? Don't you let my heart hear your footsteps?

Walk out the door of my heart, sign a dream. Don't you let my heart know that you're leaving?

Don't you say another word of my darling? Leave me now before my heart finds out.

Well, I see you riding something down and leaving it on the dresser,

the tears in your eyes love a lot like mine, but I guess it's all for the bit.

Well, before we say our last goodbye, baby, won't you hold me just one more time?

And don't you let my heart know that you're leaving? Don't you say another word of my darling?

Don't you let my heart hear your footsteps? Walk out the door of my heart, sign a dream.

Don't you let my heart know that you're leaving? Don't you say another word of my darling?

Leave me now before my heart finds out.

Leave me now before my heart finds out.

So glad I'm both my lawn yesterday. I didn't want to mow it, but a friend of mine said,

you know, I'm going home to mow my lawn. I put the guilt on me so I had to go home and mow my lawn.

I hated doing that. I said to my wife next year, we're going to hire someone to do it.

She goes, well, you said you're going to buy a new lawn mower this year.

I said, well, you know, I don't know. We'll see. I just hate doing it. I've been mowing

lawns since I'm 12 years old and I hate of it then. I did make some money doing because my dad

let me use the mower to mow people's lawns and make money. I so underpriced myself three dollars

for a back in front. And then somebody said to me, can you also pick the weeds in the back,

clean that up and then give any more money for it? I got three bucks. I worked all day on their

property. It was like, we're getting 50 cents an hour if that much.

Let's see what we got here for you. We got Melissa Donaldson coming in. I hope she's not late today.

She's the head of this. She's actually here. Digital Services and Innovation at the

Proceeding Public Library. I got a new laptop the other day. I don't know if you had computer.

So a good friend of mine, Kurt Vaughman puts it together for me. But here's the deal. So I go to

the store. I'm not going to mention the store I went to. But I went there and they said, all right,

you can get this one. We'll have a ship. We don't have one here right now. We'll ship it here and

you pick it up. Brand new computer. Kurt's doing it. He says, you know, I don't think this is a new

computer. It's got the store sticker on it in a box. It's also got the bag. It was opened up that

it comes in. So I called up and sure enough, when they asked for it, they got it from another store

where it was a display model. So I said to the manager, what are you going to do about it? He said,

bring it back. I said, I can't. It's got all the programs on it from what I need. I mean,

all my work programs. I said, what are you going to do about it? And once it was told, the first

person who talks loses. So I just sat there and did quiet. And finally, he said, all right,

we'll give you 25% back. I said, okay, now we're talking. But, you know, it was a used computer.

It's like when I bought my car, they said, it was a new car. They bought it back in 2012.

It's a good car. And I'm glad I got it. But I said, well, this is used. It's got 5,000 miles.

That was a demo model. It's still considered the new car. I said, no, it's not. I mean,

it leaves this the driveway of this place. It's used. It's not new anymore. What was the old joke?

It's like a bride. Once she gets married, it says, I do no new. She's an old bride now. Anyway,

so I got the car. And I still call it a used car. But what they say, that's the gaming new car

warranty. But here's the thing. When I was hemming and hawing on it, I, the guy said,

how many if I drop a thousand or two off the price? Okay. Now it feels more new than it did before.

But anyway, yeah, it got a hackle just a little bit. All right. You actually, and here's

something I got to remember with my new computer. You actually risk someone hacking you or spying on

you if you don't cover up your webcam on the camera on the computer. According to security experts,

it's not likely, but it's possible. If you download malware, you can give someone access to your

camera and a survey found 35% of people do cover up their webcams. I'm going to do that a little

piece of tape over it. Not that they're going to see much. You're going to see my face staring at

the screen. I mean, I don't jump around make it in front of my computer anymore. But no,

I don't do that. So it's just a work computer. Maybe I should do it anyway.

Funny. I think it's worked out of California woman ended up homeless a few years ago.

Now she was homeless. No hope for the future. Talk about things turning around. She's back in school.

About to get her associates degree. She's also getting married later this year to top it all off.

She hit the lottery for five million dollars. She wants to buy a house and invest the rest.

And she was living out of her car homeless just a couple of years ago. This hope for people like me.

Never know. Velvedo part. No, this sounds disgusting. Velvedo partnered with a candy company to sell boxes of

cheese filled chocolates. Each one looks like Velvedo shells and cheese pasta. The shells are white

chocolate with food coloring to make them look yellow and they're filled with cheese sauce. A box

cost $25. Yuck. Here's a hot new term tipping fatigue. All right. This is when you're sick of

constantly being asked to leave a tip and situations where it's used to be considered weird.

The Wall Street Journal did a whole big write up on this on how we're being asked to leave tips

at self checkouts now. Whoa. Someone bought a six dollar bottle of water at a self checkout

kiosk at the Newark airport. And it asked them if they wanted to leave a 10 to 20% tip.

It felt like it was emotional blackmail. A baseball team fan grabbed a beer from a self-service

fridge at Petco Park in San Diego and asked him to leave a tip and said it was confused because

he didn't know who the money was going to. He still left a 20% tip.

Now the organization's both of them claim money does go to the employees. This feels weird to leave

a tip when nobody did anything and you did all the work, but I guess that's just the way it is.

All right. Coming up, we're going to talk innovation. We're going to talk digital services.

Most of Donaldson from the Racine Public Library is here. That's all coming up.
