You guys remember in the 90s when you could just win a argument with a lie?
Good times.
I am not going to the library to look that up.
And if a debate ever got really heat in the 90s and people want to find out if you're
telling the truth, they would just be like, you swear to God.
And if you did swear to God as the ultimate affirmation, everyone would be like, relax.
We believe you now.
No way you'd bring God into this if you're lying through your teeth.
That's so much harder now.
You fast forward to the present day, you say anything remotely crazy.
Your friends are already on a cell phone going, keep talking, dude.
That sounds suspect.
I'm about to prove you wrong, instantly, in front of all these people at Buffalo Wild
Wings.
Well, that's not going to work.
You plan your plan and plan and you get a bad CD.
And let's try it on this one.
Maybe you can get a little better here.
These are the Beatles, right?
Yeah.
And the reason we're playing the Beatles right now, and particularly this song because at
8 o'clock, on February 9th, which would be tomorrow, in 1964, America turned to CVS and
the Ed Sullivan show, but this night was different, 73 million people gathered in front of their
TV sets to see the Beatles' first live performance, and this was the song they sang.
I want to hold you.
I sang a bunch of them, but this was one of them.
Yesterday, 60 years ago, on February 7th, 1964, the Beatles got off a plane at JFK Airport,
and stepped foot on American soil, and America and rock and roll was never the same again.
And when I touch you, I feel happy inside, yeah, yeah, yeah, it's such a beat.
I got to see the Beatles at Chase Stadium in 1965.
My mom and dad took me to see them.
Yeah, this is when they just came out with the movie Help was just about to come out.
They were singing all the songs from Help.
Yeah, you got that something.
I think you're lovin' the stars, when I say that something, I want to hold your hand.
Oh, man, Lenin and McCurkey, the best songwriting team in the history of music.
I would have been, say, rock and roll, I'll just say music.
Was there a song that those two guys wrote, and the Beatles sang that wasn't any good?
I don't think so.
You know, in radio, we have an A and B side of 45 RPM, so they were at A and B side.
The A side was the big side, the B side was, they had to stick something on the back side
of the record till they stuck that song.
Not the Beatles, each saw, each record was a hit, a flip side of, I remember, please, please
me was for me to you another great song.
I think the flip side of this, or she loves you as PSI love you.
She's a woman, I feel fine, we're two songs back to back.
We can work it out, date-tripper, we're A and B sides.
Yeah, I want to hold your hand.
60 years ago yesterday, the Beatles landed in America, stayed at the Warwick Hotel in Manhattan,
people in the streets, young women in the streets were screaming to the top of their
lungs.
They just couldn't get enough of the Beatles.
Isn't that something?
Wow.
60 years ago, I remember who was sitting in front of the Ed, we're watching the Ed Sullivan,
she'll talk about more this tomorrow, obviously, when it's the actual anniversary of the
Ed Sullivan show.
I'm trying to get a hold of a special guest and have a little trouble if I can, we'll
have that person on tomorrow.
Anyway, we were watching it from my grandparents were with us in my house and we turned on
on our black and white TVs to watch the Ed, because Ed Sullivan was a black and white,
he wasn't in color.
And Ed Sullivan said, here they are, the Beatles.
And of course, you can get that on YouTube, you can actually hear the introduction of Ed
Sullivan with the Beatles.
It may have been she loves you the first song they sang.
Maybe she loves you, you'll have to check that out.
Anyway, I was going to say, oh, so we're watching the thing and my grandmother is looking
at the Beatles.
And I get her, remember how long their hair was hardly long at all, it was down to their
collar.
And my grandmother said, look at those animals, they're filthy, look at those filthy animals.
You know, she saw a little bit of hair on the head and she went bananas and I'm, you
know, everybody else and I think, sheesh, sheesh, grandma, sheesh, we're trying to listen.
And then Ed Sullivan, after the Beatles performed, they took their bow, they came out, Ed Sullivan
waved with the Beatles and the screaming in the audience wouldn't stop.
And they keep it mine.
The Ed Sullivan show was live on CBS wasn't delayed, wasn't taped, nothing was live.
And the screaming in the audience wouldn't stop.
And these other acts Ed Sullivan had a bunch of other acts were going to come on.
You couldn't be screaming and Ed Sullivan said to the audience, you promised, they must
have told them that they've got to be quiet once the Beatles are done.
And they weren't.
And Ed came out and I remember those two words, you promised, then there was a comedian
came out.
I remember he was doing a bit with endless sand that coming out of his hand, obviously
had a tube in his sleeve, it was real dopey.
But anyway, he came out and the young girls and the audience were still screaming.
This poor guy gets his break of a lifetime, not only is he on the Ed Sullivan show, but
he's on the night when 47 million people are watching because the Beatles are there.
This guy's getting the break of a lifetime and nobody's paying attention to him because
he came on right after the Beatles.
What a night that was.
They came on three performances, they came on once from the New York studios, the second
time I forget where they were, the third time they were from Miami.
I remember and the Beatles came back time and time again to the Ed Sullivan show.
I mean, they really, you know, Ode Ed Sullivan and he owed them and they knew it.
David Letterman at the end of the David Letterman show when they were dismantling the studios,
which was that's the late night studio where David Letterman was from which he had Sullivan
studio.
They renamed it Ed Sullivan.
There was a piece of the scenery signed by the Beatles when they were there on the
Ed Sullivan show and he showed it, he said, this is where Paul Ringo, John and George
signed one of the backdrops and they would still be used by David Letterman at that time.
I don't know where it is today.
The late show is still done from that studio, the Ed Sullivan studio.
Right opposite the Winter Garden theater on Broadway in New York City, where cats played
for a million years.
The Winter Garden.
Obviously, ironically, Beatle Mania played there for several years too with the Winter
Garden.
And so that was pretty good.
I'm Don Rosen.
I want to thank you for joining us here 13 minutes after six o'clock on your Thursday morning,
coming up at 706.
We're talking Broadway.
Yes.
Ian Anderson is going to be here.
He's in the new production of Broadway blockbusters coming up this Saturday at the
Christine Theater Guild.
We're going to play some Broadway tunes that they're going to sing.
We actually have the original cast albums, but we're going to play some of those and they'll
be doing a whole bunch of classic Broadway tunes plus some new Broadway music as well.
And now I bought my tickets.
So my wife and I are going to be there and it should be a lot of fun because I love
Broadway music.
Anyway, so Ian Anderson is going to be here at the 706 full talk to him.
I won't psyched out with the Beatles now.
I can't.
I'm old.
Beatle Mania.
We had a radio station where I grew up W A B C radio and as soon as the Beatles came
out, they turned their name to W A B D C.
That's what they call themselves W A B D C everything was Beatles.
Everybody wanted to get an interview with the Beatles.
Bob Barry.
Well, I'm trying to get a hold of by the way, actually interviewed the Beatles on the radio
in Milwaukee and we're trying to get a hold of Bob and see if he can come on tomorrow
morning.
I'm talking about that interview he did with the Beatles.
I don't know if it was 60 years ago, but it was pretty close to 60 years ago for any
close.
So everybody wanted to get their hands on the Beatles and they get every radio disc
jockey wanted to talk to John Paul Ringo and George and a lot did because they were
very good at promoting.
They went everywhere.
They talked to everybody and of course that year they came to America a hard days night
came out of theaters.
You couldn't get near the place.
We saw it at the drive in movie theater and the line going down sunrise highway where
our drive in was I had never seen it that long before, but we got in.
My dad took us there.
It was a Friday night.
He got home from work.
He said, let's go see a hard days night and we got in and it was good.
It's great movie.
You can see it on Turner Classic movies from time to time.
They run in a lot.
That was good.
The soundtrack album did just great.
I mean, every song in that movie that led in the McCartney wrote, they have to be two
of the best songwriters.
I told you in the history of music, not in rock and roll music, but in music.
They were just great.
Oh, okay.
We go out for the Beatles to the Super Bowl coming up this Sunday.
A record 67.8 million Americans are expected to bet on the Super Bowl.
That's 26% of US adults will place a bet on the Super Bowl, which is really when you
think about it.
It's a toss up.
Who knows who's going to win?
They're both good teams.
They both won, you know, they're right to be there at the Super Bowl and all of a sudden
you think one's better than the other where you can place a bet.
It's really a flip of the coin.
More people are betting on the Kansas City Chiefs to win.
We'll see what happens again, 50, 50 bet, a 30 second ad during the Sunday Super Bowl
cost seven million dollars, which is basically the same as last year.
I just think it's worth it.
I always feel guilty when I get up.
I feel guilty about a lot of things and this is one of them.
When somebody's going to spend seven million dollars for a commercial and I get up and
go to the kitchen to get something and I miss the commercial, I feel guilty about it.
I really do.
I feel very guilty.
You know, when you're on YouTube and they run two ads, you got to sit through the first
15 second ad, but the second ad you get a chance to skip and they say skip.
I always feel guilty.
I feel guilty skipping you because somebody paid money and at hopes that we were going
to see that ad and I feel so bad when I skip it.
Sometimes I won't skip it because I feel guilty about it.
I don't know why.
I feel terrible even talking about it.
Hmm.
Door dash is running a contest with one person to win everything that's advertised during
the Super Bowl.
That includes at least three cars, 1000 Popeyes chicken wings and a Clydesdale saddle.
Now, if they run any of those ads for prescription drugs, which they run constantly on television,
if they run the, you get free prescription drugs, you get that drug.
What's it?
Jardinian or Jardash or Jordash or whatever that drug is, they think about diabetes.
What about, um, Prevision, Prevision, Prevision, something like that?
You're going to get free, though, you can give you those free.
I mean, if they're going to give you every advertised product, they guess they have to
give you those.
We're talking about the nationally advertised products, not the ones that are on your local
station.
That's what I think.
Hmm.
Odd the true.
There's a secret room hidden behind Abraham Lincoln's head, Mount Rushmore, they store
important documents in there.
Well, it was secret up until now.
Wait, just told everybody, right?
No longer is secret.
16 WRJN, hometown writing overfresh, Pacific media station, Clotty with a chance of showers
today at a high near 50, maybe showers and thunderstorms tonight, wow.
But sunny tomorrow, highs near 50, get ready, it's getting cold again Saturday and Sunday,
sunny.
There is a house in your house, the cold rise in sun, and it's been the ruin of
it's getting cold again, it's been the ruin of it's getting cold again, it's been the
rain of the clouds now карming with heat a zul and play some shots.
The only time he said his life is way heat for trouble, it's clear in 40 degrees
you're waking up to a beautiful morning, just gorgeous, just gorgeous.
I was actually able to conduct the Emergency wollte at Stein.
I didn't even know the garbage fail when I put a jacket on and bring a jacket and when
I went to get the mail, I didn't wear a jacket either yesterday, it was kind of nice.
So we're going to be at 50 degrees today and 50 degrees tomorrow, but Saturday and Sunday
for some reason, sunny and highs only in the 30s.
I thought spring was here, a little rodent predicted six more six, an early spring, right?
Yeah.
It's not six more weeks of winter and early spring.
So I hope he's hope he's right, I hate to think of his wrong.
All right, Taylor Swift in the news, but not for appearing in the Super Bowl, not nothing
to do with the Kansas City Chiefs.
She's threatening legal action against a college student who tracks celebrity's private jets.
Her legal team is calling it stalking and harassment behavior, but here's the problem.
All the information he's disseminating is public information.
I mean, you can anybody can go find out what it is.
So he's just disseminating something that's already being disseminated.
So I don't think she'll have a case against this guy.
Maybe harassment, maybe, but it's all public.
Anybody can find out that information.
Anybody can post it.
Interesting.
It's not nice to do it to Taylor Swift.
I mean, it's not nice to post all the information, but it is public information.
He's a new survey out on the biggest no nose for virtual work meetings.
He do those virtual work meetings.
Here are the top three, having a TV on the background, vaping or smoking and downing
gin and tonics.
So people really do that during a virtual business meeting.
Also on the list, having music playing in the background, working on something unrelated
to the meeting, wearing sunglasses, eating a meal, wearing your pajamas, having your
child sit on your lap and having other people in the room.
I guess taking a shower during the business meeting isn't good either.
It's not on the list here, but I'm sure it would be.
Do people really do that?
You know, during the pandemic, when I had to do virtual meetings, I always tried to pick
a good background in my house to make it look like I was smart.
I was dead.
There was a bookshelf.
There was some books on it.
I always had to have that in the background.
And it's not one of these fake backgrounds.
It was a real background.
And I would pick something, you know, with the artwork in the background.
Oh, gee, don't do that.
I didn't know that.
I thought he just, you know, sat around all day and did nothing.
But no, I used to do that.
Odd but true, Schindler's list and the vanilla ice movie Cooler's ice have the same cinematographer.
The guy named Jenna's Kaminsky, he won the Academy Award for Best Cinematography twice,
once for Schindler's list and not for the vanilla ice movie for saving private Ryan.
Now, you know, work is work, you know, I worked at some radio stations.
I really, I'm not that I'm not proud of them, but I, you know, not one of my favorites,
but I did, you know, work is work.
The survey found out only 4% of people were sunscreen while shoveling snow.
Who knew?
The dermatologist say it's actually important to wear it when you're shoveling snow because
the sun's UV rays get reflected by the snow and can damage your skin.
Who would have thunk it?
Boring sunscreen while shoveling snow never, ever occurred to me.
It does now, but never occurred to me.
Planning a trip to Disney World?
Do you know people who go to the happiest place on earth have trouble with that because
it's so complicated to set up a plan that families are apparently paying thick classes on
how to plan trips to Disney World.
Really?
Is that complicated to buy some tickets and show up?
Oh, I know it's expensive.
I had a story on the other day.
I think I told you about it.
A guy from the 1970s, I guess, found some tickets for $8 to Disney World in Florida.
And there was no expiration date on it.
I guess if you returned, you can go back for $8 something like that.
So we went down there and they honored them.
He got in for eight bucks.
They said, okay.
I guess when it deals a deal.
All right.
What else do I have for you here?
I don't know if this is true or not.
This is what they're saying.
Pizza Hut is selling these breakup pizzas.
You buy a personalized go buy pizza for your loved one.
I guess you can do anything.
Whether they spell it out in pepperoni, go buy and worldwide.
It's not me.
It's you.
Okay.
What do they read about?
Oh, I got to look that up again.
How many breakups Jerry Seinfeld had?
I think it's in here somewhere.
I think I have it here somewhere.
How many breakups Jerry Seinfeld had on his TV show and for the dumbest reasons whatsoever.
He broke up with all these women and we have to I have to find that.
I know I have it in here somewhere.
If you think it's risky to propose on the jumbo tron to your loved one, check this one
out.
Guy proposed to his girlfriend with a giant marry me actually tattooed on his thigh.
Yes.
And then he had dropped his pants for her to see it at two check marks.
One for yes.
One for no.
She checked.
Yes.
All right.
I proposed to my wife on stage.
I was doing some fill in work for the, um, the recene symphony orchestra at festival
hall and there was a pack room.
We've even had our sister city in France.
We had their dignitaries there and I was in a tuxedo and I was just filling in.
I forget who was supposed to be the host that night, but I was filling in and I, you know,
my wife, my fiance or just not even then my girlfriend at the time.
You was all dressed up and during intermission, the conductor of the band, the orchestra told
the people on stage who were playing don't get off when the intermission starts.
They were out where you are and I introduced the intermission.
Then I said, everybody stay where you are and it rose to Terry and the rest is history.
We got married right there on stage.
I gave her the ring and the all the women started gathering right up and see the ring.
I want to see the ring.
I want to say the ring.
Thank goodness.
It wasn't a terrible ring.
But yeah.
So that's how I proposed right in front of all those people at festival hall during the
recene symphony orchestra intermission.
I didn't have to tattoo anything on my thigh to drop my pants to do it.
There was no jumbo tron.
So that was kind of a nice way.
So we did that and she said, yes, and that was about 17, 18 years ago, something like
that.
All right.
Blusky is now open to the public, you know, Blusky is.
It's a new social media platform from Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey.
He wants to compete with Elon Musk's ex.
Is it Blusky?
I think that's how you say it, right?
Blusky.
All right.
Chobas news.
Courtney Love have been offered $50,000 to take a film, lie detector test over Kurt Cobain's
death.
Do they think she has something to do with it?
And Mariah Carey announces Las Vegas residency for the month of April to celebrate her $20.05
album at the Amatsapasia to Mimi until we have in Chobas news this morning, $6.29,
clear sky this morning, $40 degrees at WRGN, a civic media station, all down radio,
refreshed on your Thursday morning, February 8th.
You know, there's another Brian Regan in show business.
It's a true story.
He's a screenwriter.
And he's really good.
He wrote 102 Dalmatians and had to lose the guy in 10 days and all these other good movies.
But I didn't know about him.
I was out on the road and these people said, you want to do a local TV interview.
And I'm like, yeah.
Yeah, that sounds good.
They say, we want to do it out in front of the movie theater.
I'm like, okay.
Yeah, we want to have the 102 Dalmatians logo behind us during the interview.
Okay.
Does that look good on camera or something?
So we're sitting in the little wooden chairs and he goes, so tell me about the movie 102 Dalmatians.
And that's a lot of dogs jumping around.
You know it's going to be fun.
How will 102 Dalmatians be different from 101 Dalmatians?
I'm not a math expert.
I'm going to guess three dogs.
And you know we'd rather be with you, be of my lucky guy here's what I am for you.
Why you understand, she don't fly, or she can't.
At 636, WRJ and I'm Don Rosencloddy with a chance of showers today in a high-neared
50, jazz showers and thunderstorms today, you know it's getting warm and thunderstorms
during the poor cast, tomorrow's sunny with a high-neared 50 again and Saturday and Sunday
sunny with a high only in the 30s.
What's going on here folks?
Let me know in the comments if you want any of the turtles back from the 60s there and
should rather be with me.
Clear in 40 degrees right now at WRJN, Civic Media Station, hometown radio refreshed.
Where it's time for news headlines, local news headlines, Stuart J. Wattles in our news
center this morning.
He's keeping an eye on all the news for us today.
The person of interest in the Elkorn double homicide appeared in a promotional video for
an area of technical college last year Thomas Rout Jr. is named by his attorney as the
person Elkorn police think may be connected to the shooting deaths of a married couple
in a bar one week ago as a history of felony convictions dating back to the 90s, including
a bar break in and arson who was paroled early in 2020 had since enrolled a gateway technical
college and appeared in a promo video for the school talking about turning his life
around.
Rout is currently in jail on a parole hold and has not been charged in the connection
with the recent homicides.
The Kenosha County jail roster still lists a Racine County Sheriff's Office deputy as
an inmate.
Formal charges haven't been filed, but the inmate listing has 37-year-old pressing
kind and as in custody book Monday morning, a website list recommended charges of misconduct
in office and lead behavior that was featured in news stories late last year highlighting
that he's the only Racine County Sheriff's deputy proficient in American sign language.
A snapshot scam, a snazzy say a Snapchat scam was successful against a Racine County
victim.
A Caledonia police department says someone recently went to their front desk and told
them about being scammed out of $1,400.
The victim says they were messaged by someone claiming to be an FBI agent threatened with
a rest and they would end up paying them if they stayed out of jail.
Law enforcement says they never use Snapchat or TikTok to contact people and downtown
received this summer will be fluttering the 23rd annual public art project by the downtown
Racine Corporation focuses on butterflies 24 artists will be selected to participate
in the project with each artist getting $100 to adorn a metal butterfly.
And guess who we have coming up Monday here on WRJN Kelly Cruz is going to be here from
the downtown Racine Corporation and we'll ask her about that Stewart Jake Wattles our
news director watching the news for us this morning.
Here at WRJN, thank you Stewart.
Always count on him for the latest news stories.
He'll keep you on top of all the news throughout the day today and at the same time, if there's
any new news stories you'll hear about it, he'll update these as well.
All right, a survey asked people how much they're willing to spend on a first date.
Now Valentine's Day is coming up at the 14th and this may be your first date for somebody.
Maybe you got to nerve to finally ask him out of the date, how much should you spend?
So 44% say they'll spend $50 or less.
That's not too bad.
30% say $51 to $100, 15% said more than 112% said nothing zero.
Don't date those people stuck in the 80s die hard doubts a new list of the best 80s action
movies die hard number one followed by Raiders of the Lost Ark, the Terminator, lethal weapon
and predator.
Those are five good movies.
I can't think of I would have to see a list, let's see what other movies are on it came
out in the 80s, but those are good die hard was such a good movie and every Christmas,
we have to make the decision is that a Christmas movie or not because it takes place on Christmas
Eve.
And this Christmas trees and Christmas lights all over the place.
I think it starts at a Christmas party right at an office building in LA anyway die hard
good movie Bruce Willis I see updates of him on Facebook.
I think his speech is now gone.
He's suffering from I think it's dementia or some form of dementia.
He looks good.
I mean, they show him in pictures.
He looks great.
He's just, you know, suffering now and we wish him the best and his family has gathered
around him, taken care of him, which is what it should be.
They had a picture with him to me more and I don't know if it's current picture or not
which you visit them.
But yeah, we wish the best for Bruce Willis and his family, of course.
Are you the happiest when you're anticipating the weekend doing stuff on the weekend or
winding down getting ready to go back to work?
A survey has people to name the time of the weekend that's usually their favorite Friday
night came in first, 23% of the boat Saturday night, second, 15% Saturday morning and
afternoon time for third.
The worst is Sunday night, you know, why is it going to go back to work the next day?
I don't mind going to work, but I love the fact that my alarm's not going to go off
at 4.30 in the morning on the weekend.
I love that fact, but I still clock watch and that's dangerous because all night long
and I wake up to look at my clock.
And if I see like four o'clock or 3.45 AM, I say, what day of the week is it?
I start to panic a little bit, you know, because I know I got to get up soon, but then
I realize, hey, it's Saturday morning.
I don't have to get up.
Yeah.
Well, yeah, I don't mind coming to work.
It's just getting up.
What's up?
I'm fine.
You know, this morning I got up to the laundry and I think a shower, do laundry, breakfast
and then, you know, head out to work, but if you get up early enough, you can get all
that stuff done.
What I don't like is the guy who was on my tail coming down 16th Street today because
he or she, I don't know who it was in the car, is late for work because they didn't plan
it properly where I planned out in my morning perfectly and they didn't.
So I get up to a stoplight and I got to make a left hand turn onto a lay through Babin
you and they pull up alongside of me and they're seething because I'm going 30 miles an
hour in a 30 zone and they wanted to go 50 miles an hour in a 30 zone and they peeled
out from the light just to show me how angry they were.
Well, that's too bad.
Have you planned for your retirement?
One out of three people say their main financial plan is inheriting money from their parents.
That includes 63% of people under the age of 22 and 20% of baby boomers.
Their entire retirement plan is getting it from their parents.
Now, that was never my plan.
Now my parents retired with a million dollars.
They had a million bucks and they were doing very well, but they gave it all the way.
They gave it to hard luck stories, their friends and neighbors in Florida needed money.
They just wrote them a check, relatives needed money, they gave it to them, anybody needed
money.
They gave it to them.
And by the time they said goodbye to this world, they hardly had anything.
Just a few dollars.
But that's fine.
I'm glad they spent it.
I'm glad they did what they wanted to do with their money.
I didn't expect anything and I didn't get anything.
But there are some people that say, you know, I don't have to do anything in life.
My parents are going to leave me a boatload of cash and all right, I wouldn't count on
it.
Things happen.
All right.
Got some fun facts for you.
Here's that story I found.
This is perfect Valentine's Day, perfect story fun fact.
The Jerry Seinfeld character dated 66 different women over the course of the TV series Seinfeld.
Obviously, all those relationships failed for different and usually ridiculous reasons.
Remember, he couldn't go out with her because he didn't like the way she ate her peas
on the plate.
The vegetable the peas didn't like that as she ate them like one of the time, couldn't
deal with it.
How about the one that wore the same dress all the time and he went to her apartment and
there was a picture of her still wearing that same dress.
He couldn't deal with that.
Then he couldn't think of the woman's name.
Remember to rhyme to the female body part and he couldn't think of it.
That went south.
All his all his relationships went south.
Then there was the the woman with the Southern accent.
Remember, she didn't couldn't go out with him because she didn't like his act.
She said, I can't respect somebody who I don't like their act.
She didn't like his comic acts as she got rid of them.
So he had 66 different women over the course of Seinfeld.
That's a good trivia question to have.
Barry Madelow, a lot of hit songs.
This is another fun fact.
Barry Madelow, a ton of hit songs, Brande, Mandy, this one's for you and all his big hits.
We can do New England.
Actually, he wrote some jingles.
That's how we started off writing jingles.
He wrote the state farm jingles like a good neighbor's, state farm is there.
You're still using that jingle.
Barry Madelow wrote that and he also wrote another one that's still being used.
I'm stuck on Band-Aids because Band-Aids stuck on me.
He wrote that as well.
He wrote a bunch of them.
Those are two of his biggest ones.
That's pretty neat.
Building down, study looked at the top things people do and they're in a bad mood and want
to get better.
Here's some of the short-term mood boosters.
People said work best.
Eating something.
Yep.
Always works.
You don't have to eat anything healthy.
Things of the number one choice, taking a hot bath, distracting yourself with a TV
show or book.
That's what I do.
A comedy.
I like to watch an old sitcom like The Odd Couple, the Honeymooners, Dick Van Dyke, two
and a half men.
I watch King of Queens, things like that that Sergeant Bill Goe show, things like that that
distract me.
I like that.
Cooking something or baking.
No.
Deep breathing or meditation, cleaning the place.
Now that doesn't exercise.
My wife and I started exercising again every afternoon and again, you know, late in the
afternoon, we did an exercise video.
That's put me in a better mood, did yesterday because I felt better.
I was, you know, limpering up.
Just going outside and getting fresh air.
Yes.
Yes.
I'm out of the weather's turning nicer.
I'm starting my walks again.
Talking it out with a friend.
Yeah.
I don't like to unload on people.
Yeah.
Sometimes I'll talk to my sister or law and stuff.
I don't like to unload on people hanging out with your pet.
Oh, that was, that was my favorite thing hanging out with my dog and I don't mind unloading
on my dog.
That was, that was no problem.
He sat there and listened.
It was pretty sympathetic and followed by a stiff drink that just missed the top 10.
That came in at number 11, not a drink.
So that wouldn't work.
Yeah.
I don't like to want to load on people with my problems because then they'll not, they'll
try to avoid you.
Oh, here comes Rosa again.
He's got another problem.
I ain't talking to him.
I don't, I don't deal with that.
See what else I got for you?
South Korean clothing brand is selling something called slash jeans where the lower half of
the legs don't line up with the top half.
So he looks like even cut in a half by a ninja, the top part of the body sliding off of
your lower legs.
They sell for $375.
Hmm.
I know where all the good luck is going these days back in 2000.
A guy in Massachusetts hit the lottery for $1 million and opted for annual install.
And so those installments finally ran out, so he bought another lottery ticket and
son of a gun.
He hit it again for another million dollars.
This time we took the lump son.
That's where the good luck's going.
Everyone to why can't I would because this guy is winning all the time.
He's eating up all the good luck.
So none of us get a chance at any of this.
How many dates does it take before you know someone like someone and might want to get serious
about it?
It depends on the person.
Got some stats on it though.
And for most people, the answer is not that many dates before you can get serious.
Just under half of people said three dates or less is enough to tell if you should get
serious or not.
10% said they could do it in one date.
Another 7% said they wouldn't go out with someone unless they already knew they liked
them a lot.
13% they need more than five dates to make a decision.
649 at WRTN coming up, we're talking Broadway blockbusters with Ian Anderson of the Racine
Theater Guild this weekend.
That's coming up at 706 this morning at WRTN hometown radio overfreshed a civic media
station.
Thanks for joining us here at 1400 AM, 99.9 FM and 98.105.
1.
Other turn and point of four stock in the road.
Time grabs you by the restaurant, she went to go.
So make the best of this task, the known as why.
It's not a question, but a lesson learning time.
You know what the original name of that song is, it's not time of your life.
That's what they've printed, it's good riddance.
Good riddance.
And I think it was written, I'm trying to remember, it was written about the, I think
the guy was the lead singer on the song, but he had a fight with his girlfriend, she left
the Ethiopia or no Ecuador, South Ecuador.
And they broke up and he said good riddance, and he wrote the song.
That's what the name of the song is, good riddance.
And for emphasis, time of your life.
6.52 with WRNJ and Radio, I'm Don Rosen, thanks for joining us here, Clotty Chants, a
showers eyes near 50 today, chance of showers and thunderstorms tonight, then becoming clear
after that's all gone.
Sunny tomorrow, highs near 50, and on Saturday and Sunday, sunny, eyes only in the 30s,
though, that's not too bad, not won't be below freezing though, so that's good.
Right now it's clear in 40 degrees and recene coming up at 706, we're going to talk
Broadway, we're going to play a bunch of Broadway tunes as well, we're talking to Ian
Anderson, who's appearing with a big cast, a big ensemble at the Racine Theater Guild
this Saturday for Broadway blockbusters, he's going to sing some of the greatest hits
of Broadway, some of the new ones too.
So that's coming up at 706 today, we'll get a sample of what's going to play.
Now we've got the original Broadway cast, I got to tell my Pippin story, remind me in
case I forget, but I don't, if I, I'm going to write it down here, my Pippin story.
I'm okay.
What do you hear this story?
Anyway, so I'll tell that story coming up.
If you can make one of these two things illegal, which would you choose, Robo calls or junk
mail?
Kind of a tough choice, right?
Someone online asked the worst things that are illegal and those are the two biggest
ones, people to green on.
Robo calls or junk mail, I'm going to pick spam mail, junk mail, spam mail.
Robo calls I could ignore, spam mail comes and you got to look at it, you know, and delete
it.
I got one yesterday.
It says, we're here getting, you know, if you want your tax forms, contact us and I
have my mortgage company on there, which I don't have anymore because I don't have a mortgage.
And then it said, we are a debt collector.
So I looked up the phone number attached to it and there is a plethora of complaints
about people getting that message over the last year.
So obviously it's a spam thing and I knew it was a spam thing.
But still, people always want to rip you off in the news that, um, that Stuart Wattles
gave me this morning.
Some of the news stories related woman got ripped off for what, $1,500, it was something
like that.
Nobody scammed there.
It said there was an FBI agent.
If you don't want to go to jail, you have to pay this money.
Why would people think they have to pay the money?
I would say, let me get my attorney and then I'll, I'll talk to you.
I don't know why people think they have to steal from people and rip them off.
Survey found the average parent can only keep a room totally clean for 17 minutes.
That's assuming you have kids, right?
You're a parent.
The hardest room is to keep clean, the living room, the bathroom and the kitchen.
It's just 17 minutes in our house.
We just have my wife and I and that's, I think 17 minutes.
We don't have kids in the house.
All right.
Well, it's a guy for you, a driver in England, so drunk, she tried to order McDonald's from
a police officer who walked up to her car.
Some guy bought a lottery ticket to the gas station in Michigan, what a million dollars,
it was so excited.
He drove off with the gas pump still in his car.
And there's another new record.
Someone in Hong Kong bought a parking space for $1.3 million.
Now, don't laugh at this parking is so difficult to get in Hong Kong that people are
spending up to a million dollars or in this case, even more, to get that parking space.
I mean, you don't realize how lucky you have it in Racine, we just pull up and get a parking
space.
It's not that easy in some countries.
There's a threat online where people are talking about things we like less, the older
we get, the number one answer seems to be people.
It's a good answer, which is both depressing and true.
Here's some other highlights.
Some media, I enjoy it less and less the older I get, waiting anything with hype that
requires me to stand in line.
I don't like drinking alcohol, especially getting drunk and loud places like bars and parties
even loud noises in general.
Yeah, the things I like less the older I get people, I agree.
If aliens beat us a signal tomorrow and said, hi, how would you respond?
Believe it or not, there's no real plan for dealing with it in a coordinated way.
So a team in the UK is working on new protocols.
The current guidelines for astronomers are basically just three steps, verify the signal
is real, announce it to the world, and don't respond until there's international discussion
on how to handle it really.
So if an alien force says, hi, we have to have meetings first to see how we're going
to respond.
Someone asked a bartender to name annoying things customers do.
Here's what the bartender's had to say and they don't like when you open and close
a tab a million times at the bar when you wad up your napkin and put it in the empty
glass.
Oh, they don't like that.
Okay.
Want to do that again when you ask what beers they have hearing 27 options and then you
say, oh, I have a bud light.
And here's a weird thing to be nostalgic about a poll found 43% of Americans miss the chaos
of Black Friday shopping because we really don't have that anymore.
You used to have that Black Friday chaos, but I guess time to change.
There are people who are nostalgic about the pandemic, believe it or not, I don't know
what they're nostalgic about wearing the masks being afraid to catch COVID.
Oh, I don't know what they're nostalgic about, but that was, that was a poll.
People nostalgic about the pandemic, yikes, 658 at WRT and radio.
I'm Don Rosen.
Covered up in a few minutes, Ian Anderson's going to be our guest and we're talking about
Broadway, a lot of musters at the Receiving Vitter Gildes Saturday.
We're going to play some Broadway tunes as well.
That's all coming up here at WRJN, hometown radio refresh, a civic media station.
