The Don Rosen Show · Thu Jan 25, 2024

My girlfriend, she's a go-getter.

She's a morning person, she's very productive.

I'm not used to that.

You know, my previous girlfriend had no ambition.

And in hindsight, I didn't know how good I had it.

Oh, my last girlfriend, I used to ask her,

I go, hey, what do you want to do this weekend?

She's like, oh, nothing.

Well, consider it done.

All right.

That was the only time I ever felt like a provider

in my whole life, right?

If you want nothing to happen, I'm quite a catch.

Well, we're doing well, me and the last.

We're doing very well.

The only thing we'd pick her about is food,

because I think she over thinks it.

Like, one night we're out and I go,

hey, let's get some Thai food.

Here's my girlfriend.

No, I can't have Thai food today.

I had Thai food yesterday.

Well, people in Thailand manage pretty well.

Well, now she's on an organic kick.

She buys everything organic.

Back at the apartment, we have organic peanut butter.

If you haven't had organic peanut butter,

you can make it.

Take your regular peanut butter and pour a oil on top of it.

LAUGHTER

And then somehow remove all the flavor.

I don't know how to do that, but just do it.

Oh, lastly, take a $10 bill and drop that in the garbage.

Right there.

LAUGHTER

Organic peanut butter.

MUSIC

I want to thank you for giving me the most wonderful summer.

Oh, my life.

It was so heavenly.

You and the world to me.

And anyone could see that I was so in love.

I want to thank you for giving me the most wonderful summer.

Oh, my life.

I never will forget that summer day we met.

You were so shocked and lit.

You stole my heart away.

Good morning and 608 at WRJN Radio.

I'm Don Rosen.

It feels like summer, right?

35 degrees.

Today and tomorrow, highs near 40.

40 degrees.

That summer.

Then you kissed me and I knew.

But the big scare is what's pointy-tony-filled,

you know, say, on Groundhog Day.

I don't forget every time you think, which is over.

Remember that 24-inch snowstorm we had in 2011 on Groundhog Day,

February 2nd, so it ain't over till it's over, right?

And the way it broke my heart, that day we had to part.

I'll always thank you for giving me the most wonderful.

609 at WRJN Radio.

And we are pleased to welcome CCM pop star Lauren Dagel to the State Fair mainstage

coming up on Friday, August 9th, speaking about summer.

Lauren's soulful music is amassed a billion world wide streams and sold out headline shows

around the world.

So perform hits like you say, rescue and thank God I do tickets go on sale tomorrow morning

10 a.m. at the Wisconsin State Fair dot com site.

That's Wisconsin site.

Excuse me, Wisconsin State Fair dot com.

And all next week I will have tickets to give away.

You have a chance to win a pair of tickets to see Lauren's Diggle Lauren Dagel at the

State Fair between six in 80 am on WRJN all next week.

Lauren Dagel coming to the State Fair.

All right.

I love talking about the State Fair.

Sounds like summers right here.

Forget about that slush and snow that's a lingering around.

Okay, so all next week you'll have a chance to win tickets to see Lauren Dagel at the

State Fair with me right here at WRJN Radio.

All right.

I like it.

We've been giving away tickets like a lot lately to receive theater guild dial and

for murder.

Now Lauren Dagel.

We've got some more stuff to give away.

We got big news next week.

Yes.

For Valentine's Day.

So stay tuned for that.

Hey, got some predictions here.

These predictions for 2024 were made back in 1924 100 years ago, the year before my

dad was born.

Wouldn't even born yet.

1924.

My grandfather was 24 years old.

Anyway, these predictions were made in 1924 about this year.

Beds would launch kids up and onto their feet in the morning and they were having our

legs wouldn't work anymore.

Now, I have no idea what they were talking about.

Maybe we'd get so lazy they, you know, apathy would set in and wouldn't be able to use

our legs traveling to other planets would be easy and common, hmm, flying clothing.

So unpredictable.

We'd all basically wear suits that made us fly everywhere.

Well, here's something that did happen.

Concerts would be happening remotely.

Well, that did happen.

We'd run out of diamonds.

New York City would have 30 million people in Canada would have over a hundred million

that never happened.

Not even close.

New York's got about eight million people, Canada, 40 million.

Men would stop wearing corsets.

I guess that's true.

I don't wear one.

I never had.

I don't know any guy that wears one and people would think radios were silly and old school

that never happened.

What do they know?

I even know I have an old radio in my living room.

It's one of these giant radios.

It's about let five feet high, not a five feet high, about four feet high.

It's a huge radio.

It must be from the forties.

It's got to be anyway.

So it's huge.

We didn't know.

It's like furniture.

That's when they made radios like furniture.

And it's got the call letters to the station printed on the buttons like you were never

going to take that to another city as long as you live.

So radios here to stay.

Everybody think radio.

They thought radio was going to go when TV came in, then when cable came in, radio is

going to go when when satellite radio came radio is going to go, then when streaming came

in, radio is going to go radio is not going anywhere.

We're still here and stronger than ever.

So there you go.

We mentioned Groundhog Day before PETA PETA is calling for punks at 20 failed to be retired.

We're offering to replace him with a giant gold coin, which on one side would call for

six more weeks of winter on the flip side in early spring.

You know, I don't think a gold coin can predict the winner.

We better stay with punks at 20 Phil.

The sure thing.

Now, gold coins.

I'm going to wear.

I'll stick with Phil.

A lady.

He doesn't seem to be complaining about it.

I mean, they just hold him up and if he sees his shadow, he does, and it's not like he's

being mistreated.

A lady in California just broke the record.

Oh, by the way, I hope you're not eating breakfast for this one.

The lady in California just broke the record for the longest arm hair on a woman.

She got a single hair on her right arm that clocked in at 7.24 inches long.

One hair.

Now when I read this yesterday, I was preparing this.

I thought to myself, wait a second, you're telling me in all the years that things

have been growing.

She never once thought of cutting it off.

Now you can continue eating this, I don't know, this is kind of this kind of a memory

thing for me.

This was a good, good memory.

California, excuse me, a summer camp in Texas called slumber falls, nice name for a summer

camp, which about to be sold and turned into something else.

So a bunch of former campers launched a go fund, me pooled their money and bought it themselves

to keep it going.

To me, that sounds like the plot of a movie, doesn't it get these 30 or 40 somethings?

They find out their summer camp when there were kids is about to be turned into something

else and they pull their money, put it together and they realize, oh, it's not as easy

as we thought to run a summer camp.

There are kids running a muck all over the place.

Doesn't that sound like a movie?

I think I'll write the screenplay for that.

I'll call it slumber falls.

I'm not kidding.

I think that's a good plot.

Or asked what they would do to, if they're significant other, didn't get them anything

for Valentine's Day.

And I felt sad when I read this.

So if your significant other doesn't get you anything for Valentine's Day, a lot of

people said, that's okay, they'll just buy something for themselves for Valentine's

Day.

There's something sad about that.

It's not they didn't get anything that they're going to buy themselves something for

Valentine's Day card and sign it by self.

I don't know, I felt bad when I read that.

The Oscar nominees were announced that we're going to talk more about this tomorrow with

Brett Hoffman in the movie mom is coming in next week.

We've got Nell Minow coming in.

We'll talk more about the Oscar nominations.

We have the complete list.

We got everything.

But just to skim it, Oppenheimer leads all Oscar nominees with 13.

We kind of thought that would happen.

Poor things came in with 11.

A lot of people never heard of that movie before.

Barbie has eight nominees.

However, the director, Greta Gerwig and the star, Margot Robbie was snubbed, although

Margot Robbie's also the producer of the movie and she has a for best picture they were

nominated.

So she gets that's the producer gets that award.

So killers of the flower moon came in third with 10 nominations, includes a best actress

nod for Lily Gladstone, who's now the first Native American with an acting nomination.

Let me tell you something.

Well, deserved.

He is outstanding in this movie outstanding.

Also nominated now he is the most nominated director in history, Martin Scorsese for killers

of the flower moon.

A lot of people think that Leonardo DiCaprio should have gotten one.

He's good, but he's always good.

I mean, he's not outstanding.

He's just good.

He's good and everything.

He's in Leonardo DiCaprio.

You know, my favorite film Leonardo DiCaprio is in Titanic or anything was once upon a

time in Hollywood.

He told about the the ever see that movie, it's about the Manson killings once upon a

time in Hollywood and how Leonardo DiCaprio's character, he's a he was a TV western star

back in the 50s, early 60s and things have been kind of rough for him in the acting world.

And it gets involved with these Manson people.

So does Brad Pitt, who's his best friend gets involved with the Manson gang Charlie Manson

and his followers.

He's the next door neighbor to Sharon Tate and Roman Polanski.

It's a good movie once upon a time in Hollywood and it brings back, you know, I'm going to

watch that tonight.

I have it on Blue Ray and DVD.

I'm going to watch that.

That's such a good movie once upon a time in Hollywood.

And it's not what you think, but they bring back all the old rate.

You hear the old radio announcers on the radio and they're driving in Hollywood.

They hear the old radio commercials and they refer to the movies there and they take

you to an old movie theater and it's really good.

But foremost, it's about the Manson killings.

So two young men in Florida are arrested for speeding early Sunday morning.

They were in a 70 mile per hour zone to get this.

They were clocked at 199 miles an hour.

What the heck were they driving?

It sounds like a, it sounds like a NASCAR or a Formula One racer.

How do you go 199 miles an hour, whether you're driving a Lamborghini, what were they driving

to go that fast?

Anyway, they were arrested.

These are teenagers too.

They weren't, you know, well, it says two young men.

I don't know.

Maybe they weren't teenagers.

All right.

Coming up this morning, Jordan J. Lawrence is going to be here.

He's one of the nominees.

He's running for, he's not nominee, but he's running.

For the fourth automatic district, he's our third candidate we had in, we're having in.

And he'll be in this morning at 706 to tell you why he thinks he should have your boat

in the primary coming up.

I think I'm February 20th.

So we'll have him at 706 this morning, get low down on his thoughts about what we should

have been doing in the fourth automatic district at 618, Clotty Rain fog.

Highs near 40 today, Rain loads around 35 tonight, Clotty Rain, Highs near 40 tomorrow,

Clotty over the weekend, Highs near 39.

Right now, fog in 35 degrees, WRGN, a civic media station.

621 at WRGN Radio, hometown radio, refreshed on your, hey, let's see, Monday Tuesday, Wednesday,

Thursday morning.

I can't lose all track of the days, I don't know why I don't want to say it's age setting

in, but it's probably age setting you.

Although I remember being younger and I remember one day, you know, when you're in radio,

you do sing so far in advance, and you're booking days and guests so far, so you lose track

of the days.

There's some other radio work I do where I work a day in advance on everything, so I just

lose track of everything, but I don't have it written in front of my face, I don't know

where I'm going where I am.

All right, a pizza shop in California has a new policy to get people to actually talk

to each other.

I like this policy.

If all the people at your table are willing to lock away their cell phones during dinner,

you get a free large pizza.

I wonder how many they had to give away.

You know, it's really amazing.

You look if you go somewhere and you're sitting like in a room, look how many people around

their cell phones go to a movie theater where the movie starts around their cell phones.

What really bugs me when you go to a movie theater, remember used to be people talking,

used to bug you, you said, that talking shut up.

No more.

It's not talking.

They turn on their cell phones in the middle of the movie to check something and the

bright screen is in your face because they're sitting in front of you.

And they don't care.

It's just it doesn't matter.

It's like the old people, the old times when they used to talk in the theater, they don't

talk anymore.

They turn on their cell phones at these don't care.

The bright lights in your face and it distracts you when you want to, but they want to check

their cell phones.

But I'm trying to watch the movie.

I don't care.

I want to check my cell phone.

Yeah.

Good.

I hope this pizza shop gives way a lot of pizzas so people lock away their cell phones.

I started putting my cell phone in the bedroom at night when I'm watching TV or about doing

something else.

Oh, F and I play backgammon, whatever, I put, don't want to deal with my cell phone anymore.

If you want to get a hold of me, you'll get a hold of me when I'm with my phone.

You know, it used to be the old days you weren't shopping for the day.

You left for the day, went to the movie, you don't have a cell phone with you.

If somebody wanted you, and these are before people had answering machines, they used to

get a hold of you somehow.

They'll find you.

When dog owners are stressed, their dogs get stressed out too, according to this study,

or churches believe it's because your dog is very emotionally dependent on you.

So we can read your emotions and take them on.

I met a new dog yesterday, oh, I was leaving the building here.

After the show was over and there was this guy walking his greyhound, a black greyhound

dog.

They midnight, and I got to meet midnight.

I knew it was going to be love at first sight because midnight was wagging his tail and

couldn't wait for me to walk up to him.

And of course, when you meet a dog for the first time, just hold your hand out so he can

sniff your hand and work at his speed.

Immediately, we became best friends and went alongside my leg and I started scratching him

under his neck as I started closing that he was getting his neck scratched.

And he just didn't want to leave.

He kept, you know, nudging me.

He just wanted more and more.

So I got to meet a new friend yesterday, midnight, what a nice day.

I hope I see him a lot more off in his own who was walking his dog and walking midnight

around.

It was a greyhound.

He said he used to race in Alabama, a racing dog.

He's seven years old and I guess retired now from racing.

You know, if you get on Facebook, they give you the memories from years gone by it,

you know, they put them on your Facebook page.

I got a memory yesterday, two of my dogs were in an old, we used to have a station wagon

and we used to take them to the dog park and the station wagon and we used to put them

in the back and these will watch it look out the window.

So I took a picture of them looking out the window.

We have one with three of our dogs.

This is the moment I had two of them.

And Darwin and Chester are looking out the window.

And it looks like, oh no, we're going to the vet actually we're going to the dog park.

And they look at, oh no, I think we're going to get needless of the vet.

I don't want to go to the vet.

Now they went to the dog park had a great time running around and just enjoying themselves

in the afternoon, but they look like that look on their face like, oh no, no, I just love

that they're all my dogs are gone and they just love looking at them and I miss every

one of them.

We're on our shelves.

We hadn't created during earns, seven of them all on the shelf there.

Here's a fun fact for you.

White Castle, the hamburger chain founded in Wichita, Kansas in 1921.

Now there are no locations of White Castle in the entire state of Kansas.

Drink a lot of coffee.

I mean, a lot, a study found it's safe for your heart if you drink an obscene amount

of coffee on a daily basis.

Researchers found that people could drink up to 25 cups a day without having any risk

of hardening of their arteries or having a stroke or heart attack.

25 cups a day.

I don't drink 25 of anything a day.

I mean, that drink only water and I have milk to water a 25, you know, float away at

that.

You'll be in the bathroom all day long.

It's what you'll be doing.

25 cups a day.

Oh, no, could using your GPS give you Alzheimer's.

The hippocampus is the part of your brain that helps you navigate and remember directions.

But if you don't use it, it shrinks and that could up your chances for Alzheimer's

and dementia.

You know, when I first moved to Wisconsin, I was in, I lived in Georgia for a number of

years in Atlanta and I remember I left my wife and daughter behind while I drove up.

They were going to fly up, but I had a drive the car up there and I drove, I left the

house at about one o'clock in the morning because I just got out of work.

We packed the car and I got up all I had with me was a map on the seat.

This was 1970, 1980, 1980.

And I have was a map on the seat.

It's amazing.

I got here once it was all interstate driving, but it was driving in the middle of the

night the whole way up here and just a map, no GPS.

I mean, that's why I don't have dementia.

Yeah, that's interesting.

Yeah, if you don't use it, you'll lose it.

Why not truth in that?

Let's see what else we have for you.

Ah, yeah, yeah, yeah, here's the debate of the century.

A debate going viral now over whether a person in the middle seat on an airplane deserves

both the armrests.

A poll on Twitter or X is the now going.

The slant majority of people say, no, the armrests are up for grabs.

That's not fair.

First of all, the guy sitting, the person sitting in the middle seat deserves a little extra,

you know, because they're sitting in the middle seat.

The people by the window have an armrest with their right arm.

The people on the aisle have their left armrest, at least get the person in the middle, a

little bonus just given the armrest.

I haven't flown in years, so I never came up, but from our archives, a woman in Florida

filmed a Burger King employee mopping the floor after closing time, then using that same

mop to clean the tables.

She posted a video online, Burger King says, they'll be retraining the staff at that

restaurant.

You really need to train people, I mean, those people are going to be trainable.

They used a mop to clean the floor, then they used the mop, the same mop to wash to

the top of the tables, are those people going to be trainable?

I don't think so.

I think they're, that's it.

They got to get rid of those people.

Okay.

629 WRJN Radio, a civic media station, hometown radio refreshed.

No more, stay right where you work coming up.

Hey, I saw something interesting today on social media.

Somebody posted a very strong political opinion, and somebody replied, good point, I changed

my mind.

There's something I've learned about social media.

The expression just saying ain't never preceded by a compliment.

When I tweet, I never want to try to sound too young, but I also don't want to sound too

old.

And I saw Metallica in concert.

They're great.

And I wanted to tweet that they were great, but I didn't want to come off like an old

funny-duddy, but I also didn't want to try to sound like a young whipper snapper.

So I settled on boy, these fellas, sure, and I had a boogie.

I think I hit the sweet spot on my followers thought I was the cat's pajamas.

And I did it in my car outside your cell, in my car outside your home, and when you spoke

about the love you've had, t-shirts got off, stand up, peril, flutters got off, stand up,

peril.

But we've been having fun all so long.

All summer long, you've been with me.

I can't see in the love you.

All summer long, we've all been free.

Won't be long till summer.

Time is, summer time is through.

In the church of Enham, the sinner, in the church of Enham, the sinner, in the church of Enham,

636 WRGN Radio.

right here at WRGN Radio.

All right.

Like when we give stuff away.

Especially when I don't have to pay for it.

I love giving that stuff away.

At 637 at WRGN Radio.

Let's take a look at the news headlines this morning from Stuart J. Wattles in our news center.

He's watching these stories and more.

The victim of the fatal shooting at a pleasant prairie shopping center Tuesday was the father of four identified as 46 year old Anton Lamar.

Anton Lamar space of Kenosha.

The motive behind the shooting near the dollar tree at the shops of Prairie Ridge remains unknown.

Police are urging witnesses to come forward.

Authorities responded to the report of shots fired around 4 p.m.

The investigators hold withholding details about their search for a suspect at this time.

West Ridge Elementary in Racine is set to close at the end of this school year.

Originally planned for closure in June of 2025.

District officials consulted with students and families with only about 30 students expressing interest in attending West Ridge next year.

With the closure approved, the district will work with the impacted families to determine the students' options including attending Starbucks, their boundary schools, or entering the school choice lottery.

A tattoo shop, an auto repair business, and a local florist were all allegedly targeted by the same guy in burglaries dating back to October with received police saying they made in the rest in the case.

36 year old Robert Kennedy is facing 58 criminal charges including burglary, possession of tools intended to commit burglaries, and criminal damage to property.

A criminal complaint says Kennedy was captured on camera allegedly wearing a black ski mask.

It's being held on a $75,000 cash bond.

200 bucks up front that another 200 at the end of the season.

Those are some enhancements in the enticements, I should say, in the city of Racine's efforts to hire lifeguards for North Beach this summer.

Officials are trying to get ahead of issues that have persisted in both Racine and Kenosha when it comes to finding lifeguards.

Starting pay for the Racine lifeguard position, $19.50 an hour.

And finally, a global candy maker with the Kenosha County operation is getting bigger.

Herobro is the world's largest gummy product manufacturer and it's expanding its operations by moving to a larger facility in Pleasant Prairie.

The company will be relocating its warehouse and distribution operations to a bigger building in the Bristol Highlands Commerce Center and along the Interstate.

Those are the stories for keeping an eye on this morning's 2.J. Wannels in our new center.

I'll have details on those stories and more coming up throughout the day today right here at WRJN Radio.

It's 6.40 on your Thursday, Thursday morning.

Cloudy with rain and fog today in a high near 40 rain tonight.

Lows around 35.

Cloudy chance of rain again tomorrow with a high near 40.

Then for the weekend Saturday and Sunday.

No sun. Just cloudy though.

No rain either.

Eyes near 39 degrees right now.

It's foggy 35. Careful out there.

I know a lot of people drive with their high beams on, but when the fog hits, it's really hard to see when that high beam hits the fog.

Just be careful driving your ring.

That report here they calculated the value of all the stuff dads do around the house each year.

We was heard about the the moms and they calculate how much the housework would cost if you had to pay mom to do it.

Now it's dad's turn and comes to $24,103 worth of work a year out of the house.

That includes everything from being a plumber and handyman to being an accountant and tutor.

Doesn't sound like a lot of money. That's a lot of work for $24,000.

If you have junk piling up around the house, here's how to get rid of it.

Don't try to do it all at once.

Don't put anything. I should say don't put anything in a maybe pile.

Donate the charities and local organizations.

Get a table at a flea market.

Post the free stuff on free cycle.org.

Leave things on the curb and it's the last resort.

Just throw it away. That's what I do.

I just throw it away.

I took all my 45 RPM records on there. I was on a cleaning spree.

I took every single 45 RPM record I had boxes of them and threw them in the garbage.

So I was watching the garbage man empty it out.

And I'm looking out the window watching them go into the truck.

Brother, what did I do? I made a mistake.

But I didn't make a mistake. First of all, I can't play them.

Well, what good are they when I go someday?

I mean, somebody else is just going to throw them out.

Might as well just save them the trip and I do it now.

But it hurts.

We had some of the stuff in our house got wet.

There was a leak and lots of books, coffee table books and everything.

Some were damaged. Some were not.

But I decided at that point, let's get rid of them.

I happened to open that book in years and I threw out a lot of coffee table books.

Just tossed them in the garbage.

And again, I saw the garbage truck take them away one morning and I just felt terrible about it.

But if you're not going to use them, get rid of them.

And that's what I did.

I feel bad now. Maybe I should have kept those 45 RPMs.

Not the 40, but the books maybe.

But the house was getting cluttered and I had to declutter the house.

And that's the best way to do it, I guess.

And like this, a study says men's faces have evolved.

So now the men's faces can take a punch.

As men started competing over women in food, natural selection,

favorite guys whose facial structure acted like armor against a few punches.

Just so you know, in case you're testing that out, my face cannot take a punch.

So don't even think about punching me.

I know I can't take a punch.

I never have.

Only I never got into a fight in my life.

I get into this sort of a fight once.

It wasn't really a fight.

I was in sixth grade in grammar school.

And a kid named Mickey Strange.

That was his name.

He was actually a nice guy.

I mean, just, but one day he decided he's going to just pick on me for some reason.

And I was much taller than him.

And I don't know why he would do such a dumb thing, but he did.

He started picking on me.

And he told everybody he's going to wait for me by the playground after school,

the basketball court, and he's going to fight me, which was a dumb thing to do.

Because again, I had high down in my head, weighed on him, I had everything.

And this is, I was only what 12 years old.

So I leave school that day.

And I see all the kids gathered up by the, on the basketball court waiting for the big fight.

And there's Mickey.

And he's leaning near the chain link fence.

And he puts down his books.

And I never put down, I just charged him.

I just ran into him as hard as I could.

And I pushed him into the chain link fence, knocked the wind out of him.

I mean, he felt to the ground and started crying and walked away.

That's the only fight I was into my entire life.

But I wasn't going to fight him because I could, there's no way he was going to win.

So I feel just knock him down.

I just charged the fence and knocked the wind out of him.

I could see on his face when I was charging him.

He started the panic.

He didn't get out of the way because they're so fast.

And he just banged into the fence, fell to the ground and started crying.

I think it was just scared because he got the wind knocked out.

It wasn't heard or anything.

But the fight was over in seconds.

And it was only fine.

It was ever in, I think as I'm tall, people didn't pick on me.

And I, fighting never, you know, I wasn't going to, I wasn't my strong suit.

That was it.

Got some fun facts for you this morning.

The first video to be played twice on MTV was you better, you bet by the who.

It was the fourth video they played to and the 54th video they played played twice.

Remember the first one?

The Buggles video killed the radio star.

And I forgot what the second one was.

Was it a pet Benitar song?

I think so.

The most played video ever on MTV with sledgehammer.

Yeah.

That's what they say.

Phoenix is the only city they ever have all four major pro teams play on that same day.

Have them back in 2001.

On November 4th, the Arizona Cardinals lost a football game.

The Phoenix Coyotes lost a hockey game.

The Phoenix Suns lost a basketball game.

Where's the fourth one?

We mentioned three of them here.

Anyway, they had four sports teams play on the same day.

Here are some signs that the person you're with is a keeper.

They're the first person you want to share good news or bad news with.

You feel like you're real around them.

Your friends like them and you're proud to be with each other.

That's why I feel about my wife.

Yeah.

I mean, after a while, you both know each other's foibles, you know, the imperfections of each other.

And you don't care.

You both know it.

A new survey found pet owners have lied to their boss about a sick pet, sometimes to get out of work.

Sometimes your pet is really sick.

But we knew you used it because we worried our boss won't think it's a valid excuse so we don't use it.

The only time I left this building was I had to put my pet to sleep.

The vet called and said, we got to do it now.

I can't wait anymore.

And I remember I was talking to Chris Morrow.

He was having a meeting in the lower level here.

And I said, I started the cry.

I said, I got to go.

I got to put my, and he's a big pet.

Oh, he's a big dog owner.

I understood.

I said, I got to put my dog to sleep.

He said, go, go, go, go.

I went to the vet, picked up my dog and they put him to sleep.

But he was in my arms when I did it.

My wife was there and we just, I just held him around when they put him to sleep.

But he said, he was not doing well.

It's having seizures.

And he actually had a seizure right there on the table in front of the vet.

And there were one of these grand mall seizures that dogs, you know, our people can have too.

And it's just, you know, the vet said, no, no, no, no, no, he can't do this anymore.

So now I'm going to sit, say goodbye to him.

Here's a fun fact for you to have to that story.

The producers of Deadpool had to pay $10,000 for Ryan Reynolds to be able to wear a teacher

with B Arthur's face on it in the movie.

I guess if it's, you know, somebody's face, you pay $10,000 was the worth it.

What's the germiest spot in your car?

What do you think?

All right.

The number one answer was the steering wheel.

The swamp test found that actually has more than your driver's side floor mat.

The second germiest spot, the front seat cup holder followed by the inside of the trunk

and the dashboard air vents were forth.

Yuck.

What's going on in that steering wheel?

Yeah, I probably would have said the cup holder, but yeah, steering wheel.

You don't think about it, but, you know, well, it's the last time you clean your steering wheel.

Have you ever done it?

What do you think about this?

The amount of time we spend on our phones finally surpassed the amount of time we spend watching TV.

We now spend an average of three hours, 43 minutes a day on our cell phones,

even just looking at them and three hours, 35 minutes a day watching TV.

I believe it.

I believe we spent more time than that on our cell phones.

I don't even think that's the right answer.

All right, 648 WRJ and radio.

It's funny, as soon as I ended, I was supposed to wait 10 years before I had to start paying it off.

And what happened was the bank, I ended a semester early and the bank said,

Well, you broke the law, you broke the rules, you got to pay it off now.

I mean, they were there the day I decided, I'm not going to finish, I'll do the next semester some other time.

I mean, I didn't even make the decision 10 seconds later, the bank was on the phone.

I got to pay off your student loan.

$40 and $72, $47, $72 a month.

I did that for a couple of years and all paid off.

So let's see, you can do that in one shot, but, you know, back when you're, you know, 21 years old without it.

Well, I had a job.

George Lucas never won any Oscars for Star Wars, however, his ex-wife did.

Her name is Marsha Lucas, who won an Academy Award for Best Film Editing for Star Wars in 1978.

She and George got divorced in 1983, probably because he couldn't live with her knowing she won the Oscar and he didn't.

Speaking about the Academy Awards, the nominations are out.

An Oppenheimer just cleaned up with the most followed by Barbie.

And I think what was it when the Martin Scorsese film Killers of the Flower Moon came in third.

We're going to talk about the Oscar nominations tomorrow morning.

And Brett Hoffman will be here to talk about that.

And then they have the movie mom, Nell Menow coming in next week and she has a movie reviewer.

And she'll be talking about the Oscar nominations and the Razzie nominations are out as well.

They'll be talking about that.

The Razzie is the worst of the worst.

Some big stars up there for the worst performances of the year, including Helen Mirren,

who's one of our best actresses, but she was in some turkey named Shazam or something.

And so she got cited for that movie.

All right.

I don't like to think of a boring person.

However, here are four things that can make you seem boring, not having an opinion.

I always have that or never taking a stance on anything, not having a sense of humor, being too predictable,

having unbalanced conversations where you either talk too much or don't talk enough.

Yeah, I probably talk too much occupational hazard.

I just tell my wife when she said, you're talking too much.

I said, you better hope I keep talking too much or at a business if I keep stop talking.

What's the first thing in the morning you have to do to get your day off to a good start

other than turn on WRJN?

Well, a new survey found the top five things are drinking coffee, which I've never tasted coffee in my life.

Getting enough sleep.

I get up in them.

I go to bed so early now that I wake up like midnight and I go to bed like three o'clock and that's not good

because you got to get up at four or 15.

Taking a shower, listening to the radio and eating a light breakfast.

Those are all good things you should do, first thing in the morning.

Yeah, I do most of that.

I don't drink coffee.

That's the only thing I don't do.

A high school principal in West Virginia just got busted for plagiarizing the speech.

He gave it a graduation form.

The speech was from Ashton Kutcher.

That's where he plagiarized it.

One of the students realized the principal's speech sounded like Ashton Kutcher's speech and spliced it together

in a video of both speeches and put it online and the rest is history.

A Twitter user is going viral because he figured out that the little sunglasses holder that pops down in the roof of your car.

You know, when you go in, it's right at the, you can reach it with your hand, you know, by the windshield.

He said, it's perfect to hold a crunchy taco.

You know, we had somebody working here and I won't say his name, but he ate a lot.

And we had a station van and one day I go in there, we're going to a remote broadcast and in there is a sandwich.

I thought we're going to keep your sunglasses in there.

That's what it's made for.

And I opened it up and a sandwich falls out.

And I said to him, what was this doing in it? Well, that's my sandwich for later on.

I said, that's where you keep it in the sunglasses holder.

I guess he was ahead of his time.

What's the ultimate life experience out there? Well, the survey found the top five getting married in Las Vegas.

People have done that.

Swimming with sharks.

A kid just did that on a vacation with his parents and he got bit by the shark.

Why would you want to swim with the shark surfing in Hawaii?

All right.

You see that flying a private jet.

Can't see that.

And dating a model.

I can see that.

I've never done it, but maybe I can understand that.

All right.

657 W R J N radio.
