The Don Rosen Show · Wed Dec 20, 2023

People always know someone who looks like me wherever I go once a week someone will call it to me go

I know someone that looks like you. I never know what to say. Well, tell them high

Courage them to wear sunscreen

And this person who looks like me never doing something impressive with their life

Yeah, he mows our lawn

We don't even pay him. He just does it

That sounds like my gene pool

Occasionally on social media, I'll be sent photos of babies who supposedly look like me

This baby looks like Jim Gaffigan

People think it's hysterical that I look like a pale pudgy bald infant

Who poops in a diaper

Sometimes people get too cute. They're like, hey, why does our baby son look like Jim Gaffigan?

I'm like, cuz I slept with your wife

Santa Claus is coming to town

He's making a list and checking it twice

Gonna find out who's naughty and nice

Santa Claus coming to town

Yeah, Santa Claus coming to town

Santa Claus is coming to town

He sees you when you're sleeping

He knows when you are awake

He knows you've been better

So be good for goodness

Or you better watch out

Or you better not cry

Better not come until you are

Santa Claus is coming to town

Yeah, Santa Claus is coming to town

Santa Claus is coming to town

That's Michael Jackson, little Michael Jackson, with his brothers that Jackson Vs and Claus has come to town

608 at WRG and I'm Don Rose

And I want to thank you for joining us here at hometown radio

We're fresh, 1400 AM, 99.9 FM and Racine 98.1 FM canoeship

For today a beautiful sun, shiny day with a high-tier 42

Cloudy tonight lows around 33 tomorrow

Cloudy chance of rain with a high-tier 43 right now

It's clear and 30 degrees

Is this supposed to be in the 40s in December?

I can't remember from last year

Are we supposed to be in the 40s? I thought we were supposed to be like in the low 30s 20s

During the day time I know January is pretty cold

But I don't remember it ever being this warm before

I'm not going to tell you it's warm now

Enjoy it while you can

All right, we're going to make your day awesome

Everyone's looking for an awesome day

And when did awesome become the word of the day

But anyway, we're going to make your day awesome

Here are some tips for doing such such

Eat the same breakfast every morning

That's what they claim

Because your morning is less stressful if your first meals are already decided

I never had a stress decision in the morning about breakfast

I just looked around whatever hit me hit me and never stressed me out

You're supposed to make it healthy too like oatmeal or an omelette

And by the way, if you don't know how to make an omelette

Call me up, I'll tell you how to do it

And I make the best omelettes

Last minute choices tend to be stuff like donuts

Which aren't too healthy

Saber your morning, you're a saber your morning coffee

Sounds crazy to slow down in the morning

Because you got things to do

But experts claim that you should try to enjoy what you're drinking

Instead of mindlessly just gulping it down

Write out an ignore list

Now this is pretty much the opposite of a to-do list

Make a list of all the non-essential stuff that you can ignore

Like emails that you don't need to answer

Vacuuming or I can push that out of the way really easy

And anything else that you can postpone

Take some time to zone out

Are you supposed to get a place where you're not thinking about anything?

Don't make it that complicated

Just let yourself listen to music play a game or watch TV guilt-free

Hopefully not at the office

When you ask someone, how are you?

Actually listen to what they say

It's a throwaway question a lot of the times

Who don't really pay attention to what people say in response

But try to, it's supposed to lift your spirits and help you connect

So how are you?

Never mind nobody cares

All right

The holidays are full of dinners and dinner parties

So here's a guide to keep things from getting awkward

Or if you're in the mood to entertain yourself and alienate others

Here's a way to help you make every dinner awkward

Now, not just holiday dinners to before Christmas

You know, after Christmas people have dinners and parties

Living up to New Year's Eve

According to this survey of 1,000 Americans here

The top conversation topics you should never bring up at dinner

You're a sex life or anyone else's for that matter

Asking people about their income

Openly talking about your money

The state of your relationship or marriage

Religion, politics, race, Facebook

Or anything online dating profiles

How many Facebook friends or Twitter followers you have?

Death, not a good topic at a party

And serious health issues

You know, we care about your health issues

But can you leave them be for one day, for one night?

We have to hear about your rashes and your swelling and your infections

At the dinner party

No

Also, here's something else you can't talk about

The amount of Christmas music being played on the radio

I had a good friend of mine

And he always has to say

There were three things you can't discuss in mixed company

Politics, religion, and the amount of Christmas music to play on the radio

Because everyone's got a different opinion on it

Rest in peace, Bill

He used to say that to me all the time

All right, did you know?

These are some fun facts we dug up

There are 170 million insects alive for every person alive today

And I think they are all in my backyard during the summer

The Flintstones was the first show ever to feature the sound of a flushing toilet on television

And also the first show to show a couple sleeping in the same bed and prime time

Those, do you know what the first non animated show was to show a toilet bowl?

It was Leave It To Beaver

Wally in the B for having a conversation

And you saw the toilet tank in the background

And it had never ever been shown on television before

It would show to the movies, but never on TV

So the Flintstones and Leave It To Beaver cutting-edge shows

The original name of the Bank of America was Bank of Italy

Now, I heard this story many decades ago

Let me see if I remember it

This was during the 1906 San Francisco earthquake

San Francisco was devastated, it was just in rubble

And somebody from the Bank of Italy, I believe it was, set up a little table

And started loaning out money to people in San Francisco who had nothing

And that was the beginning of the Bank of America

I think that's how it started

I don't know why that story stuck in my head

This is really interesting

You know at one time, one point in time, you were the youngest person on the planet Earth

Isn't that really interesting?

And it's so true, you were the youngest person at one point in time on planet Earth

Everybody was at one time

No one knows who invented the fire hydrant because the patent was lost in a fire

Isn't that ironic?

Facebook has ruined the office Christmas party

You say, how did that happen?

Well, according to this survey, 80% of people say they have toned down any potential wildness or drunkenness at a company holiday party

Because they're afraid the photos will wind up on Facebook

That being said, 40% of people say free booze is the key to a good office Christmas party

So you got a juxtaposition

In the past 3500 years, excuse me, in the past 3500 years

There have been approximately 230 years of world peace

In other words, there's been at least one war going on for 93% of human history

Something more we can relay to America drinks the most mountain dew of any country on the planet

I can attest to that

Donald Duck's middle name is Funtil Roy

Who knew that?

I was named after Donald Duck, by the way

It would take a person approximately, by the way, this next thing here, why do they tell me now?

I want that to find this out and I was like 10 years old

It would take a person approximately 15 to 18 years to do all the training you need to become Batman

Now at my age now, that's a little too late

But if they would have told me that information at age 10 and I could just start training

By age 25, I could have been Batman

Perfect

Imagine all the women swimming around me when I was Batman

Yeah

We're going to talk about Batman coming up a little later on because Peach Schwabba is going to be my guest

Peach Schwabba is from Nightline, Nightlight rather

He ran WWWRJ and he's does Nightlight every night from 8 till 10 pm

And he was talking about Batman the other day

And I've got some Batman stuff for him

But did you know that George Clooney said there's not enough drugs in the world to get him to do Batman again?

Batman again

I, the only Batman movies I liked with a dark night and the dark night returns or whatever the second one was

But the dark night was probably the best Batman one I've ever seen

And I've seen them all

All right are you counting down the days until you get off from work for the holidays?

Sometime around December 28th you'll be counting down the days until you can get away from your crazy family

And back to that sweet relief of work

56% of people say they usually need a vacation from their holiday vacation

Price line did the survey that means that's why they need a vacation

That means that more than half of us find the holidays that stressful

More than half of the people in the survey said they'd rather stay at a hotel

Family members house for the holidays

29% of people secretly wish at least one family member wouldn't show up on Christmas

That's probably the me they wish wouldn't show up

And 43% of people at the fake holiday cheer at least once this month

No, I'm pretty cheerful around the holidays I think I am

There's always something that's going to bother me but I think I'm pretty cheerful

That's strange

The people feel that way about the holidays

You don't want to stay over somebody's house or rather stay at a hotel

I would only in if it was that crowded I wouldn't want to be a burden

You know sleeping in the closet or something or sleeping on the floor

Then you know you go to a you go to a hotel

But I mean I there's nobody I my family I wish wouldn't show up

They party it's 618 at WRJN the weather forecast for today looks pretty nice

Sunny with a hindier 42 degrees I'll take it cloudy loads around 33 tonight

Cloudy chance of rain tomorrow with a hindier 43 right now it's clear

And 30 degrees and receipt and by the way I took a peak at Christmas day

Rain likely Christmas day which is better than snow because if you have to go visit somebody

It's easier to drive in the rain than the snow right

Alright so as I said nightline with Pete Schwabba 8 to 10 pm right here at WRJN

Pete Schwabba is going to be my guest he's a writer producer director of motion pictures

Talk about that as well we're lucky to have mere civic media

Old town radio refresh WRJN 1,400 am 99.9 FM and receive 98.1 FM in Kenosha

I'm Don Rose and more to come stay where we are

Oh

Children sleep

Snow is softly falling

Dreams are calling

Like bells in the distance

We were dreamers not so long ago

But one by one we all had to grow up

When it seems the magic slipped away

We find it all again on Christmas day

Believe in what your heart is saying

Hear the melody that's playing

There's no time to waste

There's so much to celebrate

Believe in what you feel inside

And give your dreams the wings to fly

You have everything you need

If you just believe

Trains move quickly

To the journey's end

Destinations

Are where we begin again

Ships go sailing far across the sea

Trusting starlight

To get where they need to be

When it seems that we have lost our way

We find ourselves again on Christmas day

Believe in what your heart is saying

Hear the melody that's playing

There's no time to waste

There's so much to celebrate

Believe in what you feel inside

And give your dreams the wings to fly

You have everything you need

If you just believe

I think I'm going to watch that tonight

The polar Express

That's where that song comes from

That's just grooving

He sang it at the end of the movie

Over the credits

I love that song

What a great movie

I have a 3D version of that

I have the regular version

But I saw it in the bin once

At a store a couple of years ago

It's at 3D and it's at 3D

It's got 3D glasses in it

It's not that great 3D

But I mean, you know

Nothing to do but those cardboard glasses on your face

Always hurts the bridge of your nose

You know what bad about 3D glasses

Like me I have to wear glasses

And it never quite

You know, never quite mastered that

How you can put that over your regular glasses

I put your regular glasses over the 3D glasses

I remember Roger Ebert

Once had a special pair of glasses made

It was his regular glasses

But he had a special pair with the 3D film

The 3D covering right over the lenses

So he just puts on his regular glasses

And the 3D was right on there

Now I can't afford to take a pair of my glasses

And just put that 3D cellophane all over my glasses

But it's not a bad idea

If you're going to watch a lot of 3D I guess

Anyway, Josh Groven

That's from the Polar Express and believe

624 at WRJ and I'm Don Rose

And I want to thank him for joining us here today

Stuart J. Wattles, our news director

And the news center today providing our news this morning

The investigation into a fire

At an uptown Racine apartment complex

Monday is ongoing

Fire cost significant damage to the building

Where fire fighters were injured

About 30 residents were out of

Without a place to live

The Red Cross is open to shelter

At Grace Church to assist those affected by the fire

Heavy thick smoke was due to insulation burning

After the leadership changes

At the Raymond School District

Parents are pushing for the ousting of two more board members

The district superintendent Michael Garvey

resigned due to toxic environment

Following the dismissal of principal Jeff Peterson

Who claims he was fired

During a recent board meeting

Parents handed in a petition

To recall Gwen Keller

And Janelle Wise citing

Transparency concerned

Certified signatures are needed before

Recall election can be scheduled

President Biden speaking today

At the Wisconsin Black Chamber of Commerce

And West Fleet Street in Milwaukee

Prepared for traffic impacts

In the late morning in the afternoon

As well in the area

The interstate will be shut down for the motorcade

Usually not open to the general public

This marks the president Biden's third visit

To Wisconsin in 2023

And here the president remarks live

On this civic media station

Inmates in Racine County

Got into the Christmas spirit

Officials say those incarcerated at the

Ellsworth Correctional Center

Collaborated on a unique fundraiser

Where they had the opportunity to help a local charity

Through a food-based effort

Just over $1,400 was raised

And that's going to the voices of

Black mothers united

An organization focused on promoting healing events

Raising gun violence awareness

And supporting victims

And finally there's more than a dime difference

In the Milwaukee and Kenosha gas price

Triple A as the Milwaukee average at

$2.58 today

It's $2.71 on average in Kenosha

And that's the news from Stuart J. Wattles

In our news center this morning

He'll be keeping track of all the news throughout the day

Right here at WRJN Radio

I was going to say something about the

Gas prices there

I never understood how gas prices

Couldn't vary by more than a dime

From one street to the other

Like on Main Street

It might be 260 a gallon

But on Spring Street it's

280 something a gallon

Somebody told me that the rent

Maybe higher on Spring Street

So therefore they have to charge more

For the gasoline

10 cents a gallon

I don't know

That's kind of a lot

That fire we talked about at the beginning of the news

I saw somebody on

On not Facebook

But there was some kind of warning thing about the fire

And I went to go look out the window

To see if I could see the black smoke

I forgot to look at it

But apparently it was worse than

Then I thought

Well I hope everybody's okay

I hope nobody

Got injured in the fire

It's 627

An American jazz and traditional pop singer

He received many accolades

He passed away

He won 20 Grammy Awards

A Lifetime Achievement Award

Two Primetime Emmy Awards

He was named the NEA Janusmaster

in a Kennedy Center honoree

and a story of Queens in New York

He sold more than 50 million records

Worldwide and has a star

We'll crawl again play

The ice come away

Just walking in the moon

Talking and then

And then a crazy

We're a war in the land

Tony Bennett

Wow

He was 96 years old when he passed away

He's people living older nowadays

I told this story before

We had a radio station

It worked out in Atlanta, Georgia

Had a party for him

Is a wine

Cheese and Coca-Cola party

Everything was Coca-Cola in Atlanta

So we had this party for him

And he stayed

And took pictures and talked to every one of our contest winners

After the party was over

I have a picture with him

He's dressed in a beautiful tuxedo

I am wearing a leisure suit

Again, it was 1970

We're a leisure suit

Oh, and I have big hair

Of course we're 1977

And it looked awful

He looked great

I didn't look good at all in the picture

637 and WRJN just tuning in

Coming up this morning at 706

Peach Waba from night light

Right here on WRJN 8-10pm

We'll be my guest with talking showbiz

I love talking showbiz

Especially with somebody who's in showbizness

Like Peach Waba

It's movies, wrote him, produced him

And now he's a radio star

We'll talk with Peach coming up at 706 this morning

There are Christmas films

You know what they are

Christmas story, home alone

Miracle on 34th Street

Then there are films that really aren't

Christmas movies

And if you hate getting into the holiday spirit

With watching cheesy straight up

Christmas movies

You'd rather see movies that maybe have some inkling

Of a Christmas spirit in them

Here were the movies, trading places

That was with Dan Acroid

And Eddie Murphy

And I guess it takes place at Christmas time

Guy Hard

Now this has always been one of those movies

People are controversial about

They say, well it's not really a Christmas movie

Some people, it is a Christmas movie

Takes place in Christmas Eve

Bruce Willis plays a cop who has to save the day

When a terrorist takes over his skyscraper

Doing a Christmas party

Cremlins

He was pretty much the worst Christmas present ever

Litha weapon

Is this a Christmas movie?

I don't know, starts off with jingle bell rock

Over the opening credits

While you were sleeping with Sandra Bullock

Takes a guy from dying on some train tracks

And is mistaken by his family

Where his fiance

And he can't correct you since

He's in the hospital unconscious

I guess does it take place at Christmas time

I guess so, I've seen the movie

My wife's, I've seen it too, I think it's one of her favorites

It's a hotel

A 19th century immigrant story featuring mice

In the place of Hebrews

Even starts off with a Hanukkah celebration

An American tale, five old amounts

The family stone

A family drama that takes place over two

Christmases with a cast that includes

Diane Keaton, Craig T Nelson

Dermont Mulroney

Sarah Jessica Parker, Luke Wilson, Claire Daines

And Rachel McAdams, what a cast

Now the French Connection

You say, French Connection, a Christmas movie

Gene Hackman Roy Shiders

Start in the movie

It begins with Gene Hackman chasing down a perp

While wearing a Santa Claus outfit

Not a Santa Christmas movie

But it's got a tinge of Christmas in it

The movie Rent

I just saw the stage play

At the stage musical that they were seeing theater guild

I love the movie too, Rent

From 2005

Starts out on Christmas Eve

1989 ends on the same night

A year later

If you don't know your Broadway musical

And struggling with the fact that at least one of them

As AIDS, good movie rent, good Broadway musical

And meet me in St. Louis now

This is not a Christmas movie

It stars Judy Garland

It was directed by Vintaminelli

And it talks about the world's fair in St. Louis

However

In one scene

Judy Garland sits on a step

And sings

Have yourself a merry little Christmas

To little

Margaret O'Brien

Judy Garland and Vintaminelli

He was the director of the movie in real life

They married the following year after the movie

And created Liza Minelli

So those are movies that

Are really not Christmas movies

So if you don't like those hallmark type movies

Or the Lifetime Christmas movies

Maybe

Maybe you'll like the

I like Christmas movies

Here's my list of favorite Christmas movies

And TV shows Charlie Brown Christmas

That's a dead giveaway

The Polar Express

Here's one that

When I mentioned it to people

They don't remember it

Mr. Mugu's Christmas Carol

When I was a kid

Every year

NBC ran it

And it was brought to you by TimeX

And they even

Got the logo of TimeX

Somehow into the animation of the film

I don't know how they did it

But Mr. Mugu's Christmas Carol

Love that movie

Also a movie called The Snowman

You've got to watch this movie

It's only about a half hour

It was produced by Channel 4 in England

It's based upon the book

Children's book The Snowman

The animation

And the music is so good in this

Maybe the public library has a copy of it

Watch the snowman

Watch it with your kids

You'll get lost in the animation

What are the Christmas movies

Oh, don't bunch of them

I can't think of them off the top of my head

Of course, oh, it's a wonderful life

We have the DVD if it's a wonderful life

I love that

They try to colorize it

No, I've got to watch them black and white

I never get tired of watching that movie

It's a wonderful life

Because you feel good at the end

It's just a feel good movie

But here's a guy that wants to end his life

Because everything is going the wrong way

And he realized

He's got friends

No money, but he's got friends

Anyway, a good movie

James Stewart

I'm just ran over James Stewart

I think I told his story

He was in California on business

And we were in San Diego

And I convinced the two guys

I was with on the business

We had to listen to a radio station in San Diego

This is before the internet

And after we listened to the station

For an hour or whatever

Tour of the stars homes

And they were against it

And I said, I'll drive

So we get there

And there's always somebody selling a map

So a kid was sitting on a

Blanche chair or whatever

On the corner

Leading at the Beverly Hills selling maps

Or five bucks a piece

We bought a map

And we're driving around

And this lady crosses the street

With her dog

She crosses the street

Two, he's wearing like a salad cap

Pulled down

And he waves for me to go on

And I start to go

And he steps into the street

And I stop

And he waves me on again

But then he starts walking a little bit more into the street

And I rolled down my window

And I said, Mr. Stewart

Please go first

And he gave me a little salute

He gave me an idiot

From Wisconsin

Kills a national

International icon

Now, he was very nice

He just gave me a salute and walked across the street

James Stewart

And that was his wife

With the dog, by the way

That's why I mentioned it

All right, so

Oh, with the Christmas we were talking about Christmas movies

There's some others we have too

And I can't think them off

It's not the radio show

But the TV show, the Jack Benny show

And it takes place in a department store

And he's looking for gifts

For his family

And we watch that every year

It's so funny, Jack Benny is hilarious

Trying to buy gifts for his family

And we watch that too

And there's a whole bunch of Christmas stuff we watch

You know what I didn't watch this year?

And I have it at home

A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving

And it's the great pumpkin Charlie Brown

Because even though it's a past Thanksgiving

Who cares? I'll watch it anyway

644 WRJN radios

Sunshine today with a high-deer 42 degrees

Clotty tonight, loads around 33

Tomorrow, clotty with a chance of rain

And a high-deer 43 right now

It's 30 and clear in Racine

I call this segment Idiots on Parade

I don't know why I called it that

But I did, gotten Florida

Here's a helicopter last week

And assume that cops were coming

To bust him for growing marijuana

Call 911 and turn himself in first

Only the helicopter wasn't for him

The cops did show up and arrested him anyway

All right

Here's a fun fact for you

Americans check their cell phones

A total of eight billion times every day

That's collectively by the way

The average person checks their phone

46 times a day

I think that's low

I think I check it more than 46 times a day

47% of people say they've sent someone a nude photo of themselves

And the crazy thing is

When I first saw that number

It seemed kind of low

That's how generous people have gotten with pictures

Of themselves naked

Here's some more stats from this survey

27% of people have sent a nude photo to someone they've never met

In real life

And one out of five people

Have a naked picture of themselves on their phone right now

I can tell you right I do not

I do not have a naked picture of myself

Nor have I ever sent one

Nor have I intend to do intent to send one

This is interesting

Frank Sinatra had a fatal heart attack

On May 14, 1998

Right as

Seinfeld's finale was going on

Since so many people were inside watching

The traffic of Los Angeles was light

And they were able to get Frank Sinatra to the hospital faster than usual

Unfortunately, it didn't help. He did pass away

But the power of the Seinfeld TV show

A town in North Carolina has rejected his solar power farm

Because get this the people were afraid it would take all the energy from the sun

And make plants die

Are they kidding

Obviously it doesn't work like that

City Council still turned it down

I hope for another reason other than that

If you're getting into the holiday spirit

Oh wait we did that already didn't we

Yeah, we did that story

I'm sorry

These papers are sticking together

Oh he's an interesting trivia question

You remember VHS tapes

Could you remember that far back

The first three movies ever released on VHS in America

They were all from 20th century Fox

The sound of music

Patton and Mash

Their very first movie ever released on DVD

Twister

I used to know the the last movie released on VHS

I can't think of it now but it was a non-descript film

It wasn't that big a movie

The gopher sound

And candy shack was the same dolphin sound on the TV show flipper

Remember flipper on NBC

That sound of the flipper

That was the same sound effect they used in candy shack

Jim Carrey got paid 140 times more than Jeff Daniels for dumb and dumb

And Jim Carrey got seven million Daniels got

50,000 dollars

That had to be a bonus contention

And two silent movies

And this is an interesting fact

Let's worry bring this up with Pichoba

Two silent movies have one best picture

Wings

At the very first Academy Awards

In 1929

And the artist

83 years later in 2011

That was a good movie the artist

And yeah it was a silent movie

Though

We have time for one more fun fact

All right fun fact for you

Every single US president but one

Is distantly related to George Washington even president Obama

Is George Washington's 9th cousin six times removed

The only president who is not related

The George Washington was Gerald Ford

And this one I don't get horses and sharks are ticklish

Although maybe you shouldn't go around tickling sharks and test it out but how do they know sharks and ticklish

They laugh

They giggle when you do that

Horses maybe I can sing

All right we got more coming up for you

Just a few moments here at WRJN Radio

Keeping their sheep

On a golden day's night

That was so deep

No hell, no hell, no hell, no hell, no hell

Boy is the king of Israel

They look it up and saw a star

Shining in the east, beyond them far

And through the earth it gave great light

And saw it continue both day and night

No hell, no hell, no hell, no hell, no hell

Boy is the king of Israel

Some of my favorite Christmas albums are

Johnny Mathis Christmas album

Also the Andy Williams Christmas album

Those two are two of my favorites

I got to meet Johnny Mathis

I introduced him on stage at the Riverside Theatre

He was performing in Milwaukee

Very shy guy

We took some pictures backstage

He really didn't say much

He's very shy

He gets on stage too

But we have some pictures

I don't have the picture

Friend of mine Rich Washer has the photograph

I was over his house decades ago

It was hanging on his refrigerator

I got to see if he still has it

Nice man, Johnny Mathis

Very nice

He just very shy though

But right now I've got a true false quest

Quiz about the Rockefeller Christmas tree

The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree

They do a special every year on NBC

A two-hour spectacular

I remember growing up

They used to show it on the channel four when I was in New York

Fifteen minutes

It was just before the five o'clock news

It was four forty-five to five o'clock

And they used to

At one speech by the mayor

Light the tree and it was all over

Times of change

We used to go see that Christmas tree every year

Used to go into Manhattan and take a look at the Christmas tree

I got to tell you something it's bigger in person

TV it is huge

You can't believe how big it is

And all the lights on it on TV

Doesn't do it justice true false quiz

Let's start they put on top of the tree

Ways five hundred fifty pounds true false

Well, that's true

They'd be using the same ones since twenty oh four

It's made of twenty five thousand

Swarovski crystals

Worth an estimated one point five million dollars

The main building at Rockefeller Center

Is the second oldest skyscraper in America true of false

As false the earliest skyscrapers

Will build in the late eighteen hundreds construction

A Rockefeller center didn't start until nineteen thirty

The famous black and white photo of construction workers

Having lunch on a steel beam was taken while Rockefeller center was being built

Yes, it was it was called lunch atop a skyscraper was taken in

1932 the wood from the Rockefeller center Christmas tree

Will be used to build a house

Yes, it will they donate all the lumber to habitat for humanity

They've done it for many years now

They haven't said where the house will be probably in New York last year's house

Tree came from Pennsylvania

So all that wood was used in a house in Philadelphia

That's good to know they put it to good use

Excellent

If you're looking for an excuse to get out of decorating your house for Christmas

And a lot of people don't do that

Until like Christmas Eve believe it or not

Here's some excuses for you

Beside being lazy

Your Christmas lights could screw up your Wi-Fi

A British tech company study how Christmas lights affect your Wi-Fi

They found that

Electromagnetic interference from the lights might slow it down

So if your Netflix gets choppy

Maybe it's your decorations

They also might not since there's a ton of factors to play here

But they might

Let's see here

Oh, is there any possibility that's more frightening than having your

Wi-Fi screwed up

They say things like baby monitors and micro waves

Can also mess up your internet speed

So I guess let your baby fend for itself and stop eating hot pockets

People don't care if they have holiday parties at work

I had one just last weekend

It's the first one I've had in years

I haven't had one in a long time

It's everybody's society for human resources

Matt has been found that only 65% of companies are playing the whole holiday parties

That's down from 72%

The old time high of 83% was in 1998

Main reason isn't financial either

So they're not having a party for budget reasons

Only about 6% say that

The main reason is

They found that their employees don't really want one

Companies have found that when they cut the parties

People don't really seem to complain

They think it's because employees have a lot of stuff going on this time of year

So a mandatory awkward party isn't really a priority

Maybe they're afraid to complain

They ever think about that

I loved our party

It was nice we had it up at the Chula Vista in Wisconsin Dells

It was very nice

All right, there's an 80 year old guy near Toronto

It was constantly mistaken for Santa Claus

By the little kids

And instead of being annoyed by it

He goes into Santa mode

He gives out red pens

And they say, you know, Santa Claus is other pens

He tells them to write them a letter

With that red pen

You know what, if you look like Santa embrace it

Have some fun

A guy in Seattle

Name Jack McDonald

He passed away at the age of 98

At everyone who knew him thought he was a poor man

It turns out, you ready for this

He had $188 million

And he left it to three charities

According to his stepdaughter

He preferred letting people think he was broken

And why he didn't want them

Hitting him up all the time for money

So they thought he was broken

He had $188 million

How do you hide something like that

I just had not leak out

Did you have that kind of money

All right, coming up at 706
