There we go.
I like that.
All right.
I'm Don Rosen.
What a thank you.
But you want to get 609 at WRJN Radio.
You know the other day,
I was watching one of the new shows on television
and there was nothing there.
They just and they kept running promos and ads
and there was no program.
I mean, this went on for like 10 minutes
and finally they came back
and thanks for bearing with us
and that was a major network.
I say thanks for bearing with us.
I know I'm going to tell you.
I'm Don Rosen.
I want to thank you for joining us here at WRJN
and increasing clotty to us today
with a hundred fifty-one.
Clotty tonight lows 40.
Rain likely tomorrow with a high,
a rain likely tomorrow after 12 noon
with a hundred forty-six.
Sunday clotty with a hundred forty-four.
Right now it's 37 and clotty and we're seeing,
you know, this is odd.
I've been watching the forecast
all week because we have to go on a bit of a road trip this weekend
and I've been watching the forecast real closely
and it started out over a week ago,
sunshine, Saturday and Sunday.
Then partly sunny, Saturday and Sunday.
Then some clouds, Saturday and Sunday.
Now rain, Saturday, cloudy Sunday.
Why do they bother predicting the weather so far in advance
if they never get it right?
I mean, why bother?
All right, coming up at 706 this morning,
the Vino is going to be here from our Wisconsin magazine
and the new issue is out.
We're going to talk about some of the great stories about our state.
That's coming up at 706 this morning between then and now
it's just you and me.
All right, we're 10 days from Christmas now
as you're holiday shopping coming along.
If you're out buying gifts for the trash collector,
you're probably doing pretty good.
89% of Americans say they've purchased gifts for people
at the very last minute.
The most common people were buying for this late,
friends, extended family.
I know you're that trash collector.
The trash collector.
I already bought the gift a couple of weeks ago.
The letter carrier.
All's everybody's all set.
I bought my wife's gift.
Everything's all set with her.
My son, my daughter, her husband,
got it done.
We're finished.
Go put.
Everybody's got their gifts.
So now I can sit back and relax.
Let's be honest, not everything about the holidays is awesome
unless you're like seven years old.
Some things just feel more troubled than they're worth.
A website recently suggested various Christmas traditions
and then ask people whether they're still really gung-ho about them.
We're just so so.
Or if something they secretly despise about some of these traditions.
Thousands of people weighed in on the pole.
Secret Santa came out number one.
People are very enthusiastic about that.
They love the Secret Santa.
Number, let's see.
Next on the list.
All presents must be open on Christmas day.
That's a tradition.
People are not willing to give up on no exceptions.
41% hardcore about this.
Christmas music and Christmas movies.
41% think they're great.
Christmas carols.
36% of people would go on and subject others to their singing
to feel the Christmas spirit.
Christmas decorations.
29% of people are still enthusiastic about it.
Hosting Christmas parties.
Only 27% want to do that.
The ugly Christmas sweaters.
Still people are wearing them.
25% of you obsessed with that.
Baking cookies.
25% still love that.
Putting Christmas tree is up before Thanksgiving.
21% can't wait to do that.
All Christmas shopping must be done by Black Friday.
Only 14% actually do that.
And at the bottom of the list of traditions.
People want to keep making Christmas cards.
11% of people not only send out Christmas cards.
But they apparently still make them too.
I got my first Christmas card yesterday.
And my very first one I got.
And you know, I used to get a wall full of them.
Now I got one.
I sent out two.
That's it.
And that's all I sent out.
I'm trying to think that I said it.
I used to send out boxes.
Remember that?
Used to buy a roll of Christmas stamps.
And you just sent out boxes of these things.
I used to go to the store and buy the hallmark boxes.
Two to three boxes of Christmas cards.
So it's really nice.
And I get free ones in the mail and I send those out.
I feel bad about that because I like that tradition of sending out cards.
They just got very lazy.
And some people who never missed Christmas cards with me.
Missed him this year.
So far anyway.
Okay, you're going to be flying during a holiday season.
Ready to loosen your luggage.
You have four tips for dealing with such a crisis.
You can invest in Apple air tags.
I never heard of these before.
You pop one in your bag and you can find your luggage.
I guess you just bring it up on your phone and we'll tell you exactly where your luggage is like find my phone.
Find my luggage.
Not cheap though.
For pack $100.
That is cheap.
When you want your luggage back, $100 bucks is cheap.
You can book nonstop flights.
Remember, the less flights, the less transfers,
the less chance of losing your luggage.
Take a photo of your luggage before you fly.
So you can send it to the airline for reference.
Put a printed copy of your itinerary in your bag just in case the outer tag gets ripped off.
Even with the 10 per loving care, the bag of tandlers give you the airport.
You were afraid that's going to happen.
I don't think so.
All right.
Yeah, you put stuff in that little red kettle.
All right.
A homeless shelter in Portland, Oregon is auctioning off a pair of very expensive air Jordans.
Someone left in their donation bin apparently on purpose.
The designers said they gave them a new custom box and said they're worth $10,000,
but they can sell them for $20,000.
Shoes, a worth $10,000 sneakers.
The auction ends on the 18th of this month so you can get in on that.
Hey, looking for a hiding place for Christmas gifts?
Well, this guy picked the wrong place.
Someone accidentally burnt their Christmas present to smithereens because their husband
had hit it in the oven.
Why would you do that?
What would you put?
First of all, people use the oven.
So it's a bad hiding spot.
But why would you put it in the oven?
Show business this morning.
This is going to be a lost boys stage musical like a Broadway musical touring the country in 2025.
Remember the lost boys?
I don't think vampires or something.
Casting hasn't been announced but Patrick Wilson and David Hornsby are involved.
Jack Black returning his poll for the new Kung Fu Panda 4.
Aquafina, value of the Davis and Kihoquan joining the cast hits theaters March 8th.
After the success of Barbie, Mattel is now working on another movie, American Girl Doll.
And can it get any better for Taylor Swift?
You wouldn't think so, huh?
She's got...
She set the record for the number of albums on the Billboard album chart.
She set the record for the highest grossing concert film in history.
She set the record for the highest grossing tour in history.
Time magazine's person of the year.
Top of the Forbes, most powerful women.
Excuse me.
And now she just released an extended version of the Ares tour movie.
So in case you thought you saw it, you didn't see it all.
It just keeps getting better and better.
Taylor Swift.
Hey, coming up on the other side of the break there.
We're going to give you a true or false quiz on cold weather.
You think you know it all?
I don't think you know it all.
Okay, what's the one thing you absolutely refuse to pay for this world?
Everybody has one or two things they could afford but refuse to pay for in principle.
Here they are.
Carry on baggage fees.
I agree.
I agree with that.
Hotel Wi-Fi.
They charge for that.
I wouldn't think so.
ATM fees.
Oh, I hate paying for those candy crush.
Never played it.
My mother used to play that and drinks for girls who appear next to you when you're standing
at the bar then disappear right after you hand them a drink.
That's too late for the time they disappear though.
That's good.
All right.
Here's lots of bad habits.
We all wish we could break but we don't because, come on, life's hard enough already.
A recent survey found that smoking the number one bad habit people want to break but cannot.
Here's the top 10.
Smoking number one.
We said swearing number two.
Picking your nose number three, biting your fingernails, drinking too much coffee, watching
reality TV, fast food, alcohol, going shopping to relieve stress and racking up debt on your
credit cards.
You know, most of those are real easy to get around.
They're not that difficult.
I mean, really, when you think about it, you could stop using your credit card.
That's not going to break you.
You know, put a limit on how much you spend picking your nose.
I mean, you can't stop doing that.
Smoking stuff.
I never smoked a cigarette in my life out of here.
It's stuff swearing is not that tough because I used to be a big swearer.
No.
Then I stopped for a while.
Fast food.
I stopped.
I stopped fast food.
I don't eat that.
All right.
I'm WRJ and I'm Don Rose, an increasing cloud size 51 today.
Cloudy and 37 degrees right now at WRJ and radio.
Home down radio.
Refreshed.
I'm dreaming of a wild Christmas.
Just like the ones I used to know.
Where the tree tops, glistens, and children,
glistens, to hear sleigh bells in the snow.
Then they used to go Christmas.
Today is the 15th.
You know how I know?
That I crossed the street from you.
Put up this giant Christmas Advent calendar and clock.
Giant.
And it says on there.
Then they used to Christmas.
No, I walked out the door in the morning and I see that giant thing on his front lawn.
It's 6-21 at WRJ and with the biggest selling song in the history of music.
White Christmas, Bing Crosby.
It's reading the other day how many Jewish composers wrote Christmas songs.
And apparently a lot of them, including this song every Berlin wrote this.
Written for the movie Holiday Inn.
And then they made a movie called White Christmas using the song.
Where the tree tops, glistens, and children, glistens, to hear sleigh bells in the snow.
Had DJs to talk over the music and then fade it out in the middle of the song.
6-22 at WRJ and radio.
I'm Don Rosen.
I want to thank you for joining me here today.
How about a true or false quiz right now?
This is on cold weather.
Now living in Wisconsin, you should be some kind of expert on this, right?
Okay, let's find out how good you are.
Duck taping bubble wrap to your body can help you avoid hypothermia.
You know, it's true.
The guys from Mythbusters tried it and when the sun is out, it works even better than a downcoat.
If your car is front wheel drive, you should put sandbags or something heavy in the trunk to get more traction on icy roads.
No, that only helps if your car is a rear wheel drive car.
Most cars are front wheel drive, though.
And we're adding weight to the back to actually give you less traction.
All right, if you have frostbite and you can't get indoors, you're supposed to rub snow on it.
False, that's a myth.
In fact, rubbing a frostbite in area at all can cause more damage.
How about cold weather causes colds?
My mother always said that to me.
Dress up, you're going to catch a cold.
Well, that's wrong.
For the last time, no.
Cold season only happens when it's cold out because we all spend more time inside in close quarters with other people breathing recycled air,
sneezing on each other and coughing on each other.
And that's how you get the cold.
I also heard that the cold weather runs down your immune system a little bit, but they didn't mention that here.
So ignore that.
As the last resort, smoking a cigarette in cold weather will warm you up slightly because it makes your heart beat faster.
Wrong.
Makes you more likely to get frostbite because it constricts your blood vessels and slows down circulation, particularly in your hands.
Well, I did really bad on that quiz.
I didn't think smoking was good for that.
I just have a feeling smoke is not good for anything.
All right, let's do a little thing here.
Celebrity baby names real or not.
Another quiz.
All right.
Celebrity baby names real or not.
Mike Myers has a daughter named Saturday through a false.
Well, that's false.
She's one of the half.
Actually, she's a little older than that now.
Her actual name is Sunday, not Saturday.
He also has a son named Spike and his wife gave birth to the third child, Polina.
The edge from you too has a daughter named Blue Angel.
Yep.
She was born in 1989.
Nicholas Cage has a 10 year old, some named Khalil, Superman's birth name.
Absolutely.
So I wanted that name to stand for something good.
It was unique and American.
And that's all three.
I just thought it was beautiful.
That's what the Nicholas Cage said Khalil.
Penn Gillette from Penn and Teller has a daughter named Moxie, crime fighter.
Absolutely.
It's only the looser's name Dave thinking it's unusual name it is bad.
Yeah, his daughter is Moxie crime fighter.
comedian Tom Green has a daughter named Deva Thin Muffin.
Not even that many kids, but Deva Thin Muffin is a real person.
She's the youngest daughter of Frank Zappa.
He named his other three kids Amette, Moon Unit, and Dweezle.
I remember when Moon Unit was born.
She's a very lovely lady today.
She just goes by the name of Moon.
It kind of dropped the unit.
But yeah, Moon Zappa.
And you know what?
The name isn't that bad.
Back when he first named his kid Moon Unit Zappa, everybody thought, what?
Not except for the unit part.
The moon isn't bad.
Moon Zappa.
She looks like the name.
She's a very lovely lady.
Dweezle.
I'm not sure about that one though.
Dweezle Zappa.
I think he's a musician.
Dweezle.
Amette.
I saw him interviewed a few times.
I don't know anything about Deva Thin Muffin.
Why did you name your kid that?
Anyway, that was Frank Zappa.
He was a little off center anyway.
I hear the top 10 companies we swear at over the phone.
You should be swearing in any company over the phone.
But these are the top ones we do.
Satellite TV producers, one swear word every 82 calls, contractors, cable companies,
mechanics, tow truck companies, locksmiths, storage unit companies, exterminators, heating
and cooling air companies, house cleaners, disc jockeys that won't play our songs.
No, no, no, that wouldn't, I don't know how that got in there.
That's not really.
We are likely to swear at veteran areas with one swear word every 2,634 calls.
Two things.
First of all, these people are just doing their jobs.
All right.
And swearing at them isn't going to get you better service.
So just don't swear at anybody.
Although I did call.
I know I should tell you this.
No, I'm not going to tell you that.
I did call somebody, there was a, I don't know if she was a manager or what.
She acted like she was the manager, but I was talking to somebody at the service desk.
And I told her that, I'll tell you the story real quickly.
I went to a supermarket and you know how they don't have.
They have a lot of self-checkouts.
Well, they only had one aisle where they actually had somebody at the register.
And the line was real long.
So I said, you know, you lose my business.
If you don't increase it, you know, now instead of saying to me, well, you know,
it's hard hiring people and we're trying our best, but you know, we can't do it.
She said, well, if you don't like this, there's another supermarket.
There's another supermarket there and she named them.
I said, you don't have to be so snottie.
That's as bad as I ever got.
And she said, well, this is the way it is.
If you don't like it, that's too bad.
That's exactly what she said to me.
And I said, okay, snottie.
But I thought I came out nice.
I said, listen, you know, lose me as a customer.
I can't wait online.
25 minutes waiting for a checkout just to get up to the front of the line.
And she said, that's the way it's going to be now.
If you don't like it, you know, there's another supermarket there.
There's one over there.
She named them.
She should have said, as I just told you, where, you know,
please bear with us.
It's tough getting people.
We're working hard to do it.
We're trying to hire people.
We apologize for the delay, but no, she didn't say no.
That's snottie.
That's probably shouldn't have said that.
But I just was shocked and she even said, if you don't like it,
go to that supermarket, which they're probably not much better, by the way.
All right.
Increasing clouds.
Highs near 51 today right now.
It's Claudian 37 degrees.
And we're seeing I'm Don Rosen at Civic Media Radio,
hometown radio refreshed WRJ on 1400 AM 99.9 FM and 98.1 FM as well.
At the International House of Pancakes.
It's a true story.
I was like 14 years old.
After three months, the owner took me aside and said,
I'm promoting you today to bus boy.
And he said to me, please don't talk to any of the customers.
He was adamant.
He said, I've heard the kind of things your brain comes up with.
Please, just let these people enjoy their pancakes.
So I said, OK.
I bust my very first table.
I was walking back to the dish room.
And I passed a woman sitting by herself eating a salad.
It was lunchtime.
And as I was walking by, she said, excuse me.
What am I supposed to do now?
I'm not allowed to talk to anybody.
I thought she's stopping me.
I better stop, you know.
So I put my tray down on another table.
And I said, yes, ma'am.
And she said, there is a hair in this salad.
So I thought I'd be funny.
And I said, well, there are no prizes or anything.
Go get the owner.
So now, I had to go get the owner, who just five minutes ago,
told me not to talk to anybody.
And I had to say, I was just talking to this woman.
And she's kind of upset and she wants to talk to you.
He's looking at me like, how is this even humanly possible?
We walk out to her table.
And she says, I just told this young man
that there was a hair in my salad.
And he told me that there are no prizes or anything.
So he looks at me.
And he looks at her and he said, he's right,
there are no prizes or anything.
The best boss in the history of bosses.
Here comes, here comes, here comes, here comes,
down inside and close the land.
Like sonless and low, there's a raindrops.
Pull it on a wrinkle.
Well, as I think and children see it all,
there's a man in bright.
Hang your stock and then say,
you pray to your son as long as you come tonight.
Are you gone, son?
I told you, come inside and close the land.
I told you, come inside and close the land.
He comes, he comes.
He's gone, so bang, that's filled with toys for boys.
That's the girl again.
He comes, he comes.
Here, those labor, jingle jangle
for a beautiful time.
Jumping bad, cover up your hate.
Those happy clothes come tonight.
All right, Elvis, here comes Santa Claus.
It's WRG and I'm don Rosa.
I want to thank you for joining me right now.
It's cloudy and it took me less.
I can't, but we can't reach two inches in the front.
Cloudy and 37 degrees now, and receiving,
let's take a look at the news headlines from Stuart Jake Wattles.
In our news center, he's our news director and here's what he's watching today.
School Districts in Waukesha, Kenosha,
Elcord and three others in the state are being asked to turn over information
about the parents involved in trying to ban books.
The ACLU of Wisconsin has filed open records requests
with six school districts.
The objective is to identify the people responsible for the request to ban books.
The organization suspects that the movement to ban books,
including the grapes of wrath,
is led by what they referred to as extremist parents.
The number of fentanyl related overdoses in Racine County has doubled compared to last year.
Racine County Public Health issued another caution reporting 171 overdoses this year alone
with fentanyl being the primary cause.
The department is distributing information about free fentanyl test strips
and the availability of Narcan.
Most local communities are providing harm reduction materials to address the trend.
President Biden is scheduled to return to Wisconsin.
The White House has announced an upcoming visit to Milwaukee next Wednesday to address small business matters.
This marks his second visit to the city since August and underscores the state's significance
in the upcoming presidential election.
According to recent market university law school polling,
President Biden holds a narrow lead 50 to 48 over Donald Trump among Wisconsin voters.
Folks are needed tomorrow in Union Grove to help honor veterans,
volunteers are being sought to help lay holiday wreaths at grape sites
and southern Wisconsin veterans memorial cemetery.
If you're willing to lend a hand, just go head over to the cemetery on Spring Street at 11.
The annual event is part of national wreaths across America day.
And finally, some good news.
Gas is 10 cents cheaper a gallon in Milwaukee County than it is in Racine County.
Triple A has the average Racine County at 272 going into the weekend.
Whoever thought it'd go below three times.
When it was over four, it's just get it to three.
And now it's a two something that's great.
That's what Stuart Jake Wattles has put together for us in the new center this morning.
He will update these stories and have more throughout the day right here at WRJN.
I don't want to see.
You know, I used to make fun of my grandparents when I was a kid.
They say, you know, I went to the movies was only a nickel.
They gave you a free candy and 10% ownership in the theater all for a nickel.
I hate to do this, but I remember when I mode lawns when I was a teenager.
I was about 12, 13 years old.
My father let me use the lawn mower to start my little lawn mowing business.
And I used to go down.
I said, walk. I didn't drive a car.
I had to walk down to the gas station.
And I had these two giant cans for gas.
They were lightweight when they were empty.
When they were heavy, you know, full, they were a little heavy.
And it was 25 cents a gallon, 25 cents, 50 cents.
I filled up both, both cans.
And then I had to go slip back.
Oh, with all the gasoline.
I can't believe I mode the lawns back in front and did some weeding two for three bucks.
Oh, what an idiot I was.
I got to got a lot more money.
And I pay for my own gasoline.
Of course, 25 cents a gallon.
Now look at it.
Now we're happy.
But it's under three times a gallon.
All right.
Coming up at 706 this morning, Mike Bino from our Wisconsin magazine.
We'll talk about the new issues and really good stories in there.
If you haven't tried our Wisconsin magazine, you should.
And it's just it's about our state.
You know, you could listen to civic media radio all across the state.
And you can read this magazine with stories all across the state.
So between civic media and our Wisconsin magazine, you have the state covered.
And it's really good.
It's a really good magazine.
We've had it for years.
I love the contesting in there.
We'll talk about that with Mike Bino.
And it's a high gloss magazine.
No, I don't know the tech terms for all this stuff.
But it's a very heavy stock paper with high gloss photo photography in there.
It's not like newsprint or anything like that.
It's not a thin paper.
It's a very heavy paper in there.
So it's excellent, excellent magazine.
And we'll talk to Mike Bino coming up at 706 this morning here at WRJN.
Hey, plenty of believe your job next year.
Find something out there that's magical and perfect and doesn't feel like
it's slowly murdering your soul.
Pay attention to this.
We've got the top five things that will instantly make an employer reject you.
A very unprofessional email address on your resume like sexy bunny at a well.com.
That's sexy bunny.
Not following the application instructions.
If it says you need a resume in PDF form, submit a PDF form.
Not a Microsoft Word document.
That's just a test to see if you can follow instructions.
By the way, you should know this by now.
But pretty much all companies are checking your social media profiles these days.
So lock them down, use a fake name, get rid of everything inappropriate on them.
Or you might even want to delete them during the interview process.
Showing up even one minute late to an interview is bad.
But showing up super early looks bad as well.
Just makes the interviewer uncomfortable getting near about 10 minutes early.
It's just about right.
Admitting you don't have any passion for the industry of the job or the company.
Well, in this era, they will be able to find someone who is passionate.
So if you're not passionate, don't apply for the job.
And don't pretend you're passionate because they can smell a lie a million miles away.
According to a poll, Arnold Schwarzenegger's I'll be box is the best movie catchphrase ever followed by Bond James Bond.
Which is from like every James Bond movie ever made.
All right.
Number one, the number one catchphrase I'll be back from the terminated 1985 Bond James Bond came out.
Number two from every James Bond movie.
From Mary Poppins 1964 is supercalifragilistic XB allodotious.
I think everybody could say that, right?
I don't think there's trouble saying that.
Who you going to call ghost busters?
Yeah, 1984 you're going to call.
That's also the big catchphrase.
Number five from the adventures of Sherlock Holmes.
The original 1939 version starring Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes comes elementary my dear Watson.
Number six from the shining.
Here's Johnny.
Remember that.
From forest gump run forest run.
Number eight.
This should have been higher on the list from taxi driver 1976.
Robert De Niro.
He's talking to me.
Everybody's looking in the mirror.
You're talking to me.
There's nobody here.
You must be talking to me.
Robin Williams from Good Morning Vietnam in 1988.
Good morning Vietnam.
And the number 10 catchphrase was from Robert Duval.
It'll pop a lips now from 1979.
I love the smell of napalm in the morning.
Remember that?
I'll be back.
Yeah, those are good catchphrases.
I'm going to think there's any others out there.
No, I think they really nailed it.
I'm trying to think.
Now that that's that's pretty good.
I think they got them all.
What's the worst idea you ever had as a kid?
This first one I don't understand.
I want it to be a garbage truck.
So I bid into a light bulb.
Oh, I understand it now.
He's crushing the bulb like a garbage truck would crush the garbage.
So he bid into a light bulb.
I get it.
I came up with a brilliant scheme or I'd always overpay for things
so I'd get a lot of change back and therefore become wealthy.
I love ginger ale.
So I thought eating a spoonful of powdered ginger from the spice rack would be delicious.
So that is a big mistake.
I decided to test our no tears shampoo by squeezing it directly into my eyes.
I built a little house using an umbrella, bricks a bucket and a deck chair
to prove to my mom how real and functional the house was.
I pooped in the bucket.
Number six.
I wanted to see what salt smelled like.
I was at McDonald's, opened a packet of salt, poured it on a french fry, stuck it in my nose and inhaled.
I ended up running around McDonald's screaming.
Boy kids are dumb.
Number seven.
When I was eight, my friend and I made a parachute out of my bed sheets
and jumped from the third floor window of my house.
Both of us broke our legs.
And finally, I put a finger in a light bulb socket to see my skeleton
like they do in cartoons.
Oh, that's dangerous.
Like he's alive to tell the story.
You talk about that parachute thing.
A good friend of mine, Billy Richard.
He lives in Florida now.
I still say in contact with him.
And, you know, we're both older now, but he's a little kid.
He lived on the second, his bedroom was on the second floor of his house.
And I guess his grandmother was watching him while his parents were away.
And she said, you can't go out now.
Billy decided he's going to go out.
So on the second floor of his house, and he was about nine years old.
Maybe eight years old.
It's two years younger than I am.
And I was probably about 10.
He gets out of his window and dangles from his hands.
He's now totally outside the window.
His fingers are holding on to the window ledge.
And he says, catch me.
And he jumps.
He falls right on me.
You can't catch a human being.
I found that out.
And we both go crashing to the ground.
And my first thought was am I still alive?
Am I breathing?
I was so it was it was in his backyard.
And it was on on the grass, but my head hit the fence.
And I didn't know if I was still alive or not.
No, he was still alive.
And he just got up and said, are you okay?
Yeah, I broke his fall.
But what a dumb, stupid thing to do.
But once he's out the window dangling, I didn't ask him to do it.
Before I know, he just climbed out the window.
He's dangling.
I didn't want to hit the ground.
I'm sure he remembers that.
My other friend, Johnny Carus was there too.
He remembers that.
We've talked about it as adults.
Oh, I have a quiz coming up.
A celebrity quiz about celebrities who've been arrested.
We'll do that after the break here.
And that's good.
And according to the survey, 21% of people say their last relationship ended in January.
That means one out of five breakups happened in January.
That's the second most at 12% March, the third most at 11%.
All right, January, you're starting a new year.
You want to start a new year with somebody you like December.
All right.
Christmas is here.
I don't want to spend Christmas with you.
I don't like you.
And March, I don't want to spend St. Patrick's Day with you.
Really.
Come on.
Let's not waste any time.
We're not, we're not really compatible.
Let's not waste the same patties day together.
60% of parents give their kids an allowance.
How much you give the average person says $4 a week for kids?
49 years old.
Really?
$9 a week for kids 10 to 13.
$16 for kids 14 to 17.
But 86% of people agree they should only get an allowance if they earn it by doing chores.
Hmm.
I don't think I've gotten the allowance.
I think once my father started to do it, 50 cents a week.
I lasted like two weeks.
And then he got, I said, that was my allowance.
I'll get it next week.
I'll double it for you.
I'll triple it for you and just vanished.
If I needed something, they gave me money.
So I really couldn't complain.
My parents are very, very nice about that.
I'm Don Rosen.
I want to thank him for joining us here at WRJN on this December 15th.
Or the 10 days to go to Christmas.
It's a Friday.
We're looking for increasing clouds.
Highs near 51 today.
Cloudy tonight lows around 40.
Tomorrow rain likely after 12 noon.
Highs near 46.
And cloudy on Sunday with a high-tier 44.
37 and cloudy now at a receipt.
It's 6.49 at WRJN radio.
Home town radio refreshed.
Have yourself a merry little Christmas.
Let your heart be light.
Next year, our troubles will be out of sight.
Have yourself a merry little Christmas.
Make the you'll tight gay.
Next year, our troubles will be miles away.
Once again, as in olden days.
Happy golden days of your faithful friends.
One near to us will be near to us once more.
Someday soon, we all will be together.
If the fate's alone.
Until then, we'll have to muddle through somehow.
So have yourself a merry little Christmas.
One of my favorite child actors is Margaret O'Brien.
She was as an adult in some movies.
I think she was on the TV series Manics for a while.
But as a little child actress, she was just amazing.
I hate to use that word amazing, but she was amazing.
She was just a great child actor.
She was in a lot of movies called our vines have tender grapes,
which was a Wisconsin story starring Edward G. Robinson.
10th Avenue Angel, but one of my favorites was Journey for Margaret,
where she played a little girl who was in the middle of the blitz
during World War II in England.
And she's adopted with her brother by Robert Young.
I just loved that movie.
I still do Journey for Margaret.
Now the reason I bring her up is because that song is just her Judy Garland.
Have yourself a merry little Christmas.
That is her sitting on the step, singing to Margaret O'Brien
and the movie Meet Me in St. Louis.
She was such a cutie Margaret O'Brien.
She was a big star at the time.
Every, she was like, she was a better actress than Shirley Temple.
But she couldn't sing her dance.
She didn't have the Shirley Temple to sneak around her.
But I used to love Margaret O'Brien.
I think I got to look it up.
Matter of fact, let me do it while I'm talking to you.
I think Margaret O'Brien was on the TV show Manics.
For a while.
Remember that show with Mike Connors?
Let me just take a quick look, see here,
to see what shows she was on.
But I believe she appeared in some other stuff.
I guess we'll...
Margaret O'Brien.
Oh, Brian.
I don't know if that's an Ian.
I think it is.
Okay.
Margaret O'Brien.
Yeah.
She...
Is she still with us?
Yeah, she's still alive.
Yeah, she...
Even though she was a little...
She still looks good, too.
She looks like...
As an adult, she looks like she did as a children.
She was acting up until 2008.
2018.
Excuse me.
2018.
She was still acting in movies.
Good for her.
And she didn't stop all through the 90s.
And she was that little child actress in the 1930s and 40s.
Margaret O'Brien.
Let me just see if she was in Manics or not here.
Well, I'm still looking.
Then I'll get to the people who were arrested.
True or false?
What was Manics on that?
It was in the 70s, right?
In the late 60s, early 70s.
She was an Adam 12.
Marcus Welby.
She was, yeah, Marcus Welby.
Apparently she was not on the TV series Manics.
Oh, my God.
It was on Marcus Welby.
That was it.
All right.
True or false.
Today's theme is celebrities who've been arrested.
Matthew McConaughey.
True or false.
Arrested in 1999 after police found him dancing naked and playing the bongos.
Yeah, that one's true.
It was in Austin, Texas after his neighbor's called in a noise complaint.
He ended up paying a $50 fine.
Mick Jagger was never arrested.
True or false.
False.
It was arrested in 1967 for drugs and got arrested again in 1972 after getting to a fight
with a photographer in Rhode Island charges related drop.
Charlie Sheen arrested at the airport in New York in 1994 for packing a gun in his luggage.
False.
Christian Slater was, but he certainly sounds like Charlie, Charlie Sheen could have done
it.
Marilyn Manson once arrested for rubbing.
I have to say that right.
No, that's not good.
I won't use that.
Jennifer Lawrence once arrested at the bar in Kentucky in 2009 for slapping a guy and
throwing a drink in his face.
False.
As far as we know Jennifer Lawrence never arrested.
It was only 19 in 2009 anyway.
So that's the arrest list here.
I was going to use that one about Marilyn Manson.
I read it to myself and I said, okay.
And then I said, no, not for the morning.
Here are the top 10 jobs when it comes to salary, job security, work life, balance, and future
prospects.
Software developer number one.
Computer systems analyst number two.
Dentist, nurse practitioner, pharmacist, registered nurse, physical therapist, doctor,
with a lot of people here who are in the medical profession, web developer, dental hygienist,
disc jockey.
No, when it comes to salary, job security, work life, balance, future prospects.
No, disc jockey, not on the list.
A lot of, a lot of computer stuff and medical stuff on there.
So if you have a kid that doesn't know what they want to be for living, people are always
at sick.
So you know, doctor stuff is going to work forever.
People's teeth are going to need work on them.
People's brains are going to go wacky seeing these psychiatrists and doctors for everything
else because everybody's got their aches and pains.
So that's, that's good.
All right, curling, a sport up in northern Wisconsin, curling, after curling match, the winners
are required to take the losers out for a round of drinks to a false.
That's absolutely true.
Even at the Olympics, it's in the official rule book, the loser's got to take the winners
out.
I feel like that.
Whoever knew that was in the official rules of the Olympics.
I'm looking at that.
That's true.
All right.
If you're dying in Amsterdam and you don't have any family or next to a kid, a poet will
write a poem about you and recite it at your funeral.
Well, that's nice to know.
I don't plan on dying in Amsterdam, but if I die in Racine, we'll end with do anything
about it.
I don't think so.
All right, increasing cloudy this today with out here 51 right now, cloudy and 37 degrees
in Racine.
