I

Said the night went to the little land

Do you see what I see

Way up in the sky little land

Do you see what I see a star

A star dancing in the night with a tail as big as a kite

With a tail as big as a kite

Said the little land to the shepherd boy

Denise Lockwood is here from Rasing County, I you know

That's all I see here what I hear you know what that song came from

He was during the Cuban Missile Crisis

We thought the Russians will launch missiles from Cuba onto the United States and this song is written as a song as a

Hope for peace and the end of the Cuban Missile Crisis and that's what the song is written that do you hear what I hear?

And I mean now you listen to the lyrics

You will hear it you'll hear that and that's how it was written. I forget the two husband

Yes

Everybody is dying at these old

Norman Lear was 101 we're getting to that eight Henry Kissinger was a hundred

Rosalind Carter was like 96 or something like that dreams

Everybody's lasting a long time

So we're here with Denise Lockwood and we we have more to the story a little okay a little more to the story

We're talking and give a recap for people just tuning in at seven o'clock

We do have people that don't wake up at six they wake up at seven

So let's get a little recap of the story here at WRJ and

I'm Don Rosen Denise Lockwood with me and so this is has to do with the Raymond school

So a quick little recap and then fill us in on the fine. I don't know how you can do quick right now

But the bottom line is is that on Wednesday the Raymond School board

Decided not to continue

Jeff Peters in the principles contract with the school and so we're talking a lot about the why that happened

How that happened what's there's a lot of legal kind of fallout that is probably going to happen

So Jeff Peterson filed a discrimination lawsuit against

Not lawsuit. I apologize. I misspoke

a discrimination complaint with the EEOC and

Notice that a lawsuit could come out of that

There's there's a lot going on and politically there's also a recall of

To to school board members. There's I am not gonna

So there's more to cover in this story a lot more to cover

So as we stand right now there's not a lawsuit, but there's a complaint filed

And we don't know the end of that yet. Right

Jeff is out of a job. Yes, the superintendent is out of a job. No, he is he is choosing to leave at the end

He's retired. He's resigned. Yeah, anybody else out of a job

So there are nine people that left they're on accord. Oh, yes. Yes, but the you know

They also there's there is the lawsuit and this is the parents lawsuit piece of this is really compelling

So the parents are suing the school district and the school superintendent

Um, so the school board and the superintendent both of them saying that they can't pay use taxpayer funds to defend against that

discrimination loss

Complaint, right? If if a lawsuit comes you can't use that money and what that'll do

If the judge decides this will then make those school boards potentially

liable

personally for

That those that uh that those funds to defend against that

Harper Valley PTA. Okay, so you're gonna stand top of this. I am and you will give us the

As it goes along, you'll let us know what happens

But people can follow all this on receipt county i dot com

You've got some other stories on there recently and they said all remember to ask her about that one

You just headed on the other day

I have to go check the resume. They're a scene zoo

What about the rescues? Oh, so there was some rumors that the rumor mill was pretty high on that the the the city

Was going to defund the zoo, which is not the case. That's money. That's already been allocated in the budget

So that's not gonna happen. Animals are gonna eat. Yes. Okay, good because they were all over

Where's our where's our kibble coming from?

I know right it can't it's hard to defund the zoo and you have these animals to take care of me know

I mean they have to eat as effort and they've gotten the vets medical care

Gotta take care of the animals. What are the stories you work on anything else big right now? Well right now

We're gonna be working on

Monitoring the notices for candidacy and the filing of papers

It's this is the nerdiest of nerd stuff, right? So you've got elections coming and there's a lot of them

So Racine County board is has 22 seats all 22 of them. I'm sorry 21 of them are up for reelection

So there's that

Yeah

Wow and and the election coming up in 2024 nationwide every seat in the US House are representative is up for grab

Yes, that happens because they don't get the presidential election

Yeah, but the whole house is up for grabs and such a thin razor

Of the republicans leading anything can happen and you've got judges races now one of the things that I've seen

The judges races typically were not like well

There was always a judge and they had a judge and he was they would these were uncontested racism. We're seeing

Excuse me some some race some races are gonna have some contention to it. So it's interesting

It's not boring

We're seeing county i.com the news source for Racine County now Racine County i

That's a good name by the way. You come up with that. I did

Well, look at you

Then only the bulldog news reporter. You're also coming up with creative

I

Everyone's so well. I have an idea when I have some fun for a few minutes sounds like plan. All right

New poll asked people which would you rather receive a million dollars right now

Or three cents for every step you take

Okay, a million dollars because I'm not I need to get off the couch like a lot more

Well, here's how it breaks down. What did tell me 56% of people said they prefer the three cents per step

Okay, now if you do 10,000 steps a day. That's what you're supposed to do 10,000 steps a day. I do not

I'm I'm sad. You probably do more than you think though

You probably do more than you think apples apple does not agree with you. Oh, okay, so you actually

Yeah, I'll tell you a story in a minute if you do if you do get 10,000 steps a day. That's 300 dollars a day

2100 dollars a week

109,000 two hundred dollars a year and that would take you a little over nine years to get the million dollars

But here's the difference it keeps going. Oh, that is an interesting perspective and that's 2100 dollars a week coming in

Or ever as long as you can walk 10,000 steps a day

So now do you want the million so I think I need to switch my switch my sides on that one

Isn't that interesting you just keep going and once the million dollars is done you're done

But the three cents a day keep three cents a step keeps going

Well, you have to think back for this one when you're growing up easy to think that everything in your family

What did it was normal? So when you went to a friend's house

You have a sleepover. We just spend the day there. You were in for a bit of a shot because they did something differently

Here's a buzz are a bizarre list of house rules people experience at other people's homes growing up reusing bathwater

I know that one just

Unless you're the first one to use it. It's fine

If you're the eighth one to use it. Oh my god, why do you just take a dip in the cesspool

the back

phones being confiscated in the house

So now you walk in with your cell phone and it's confiscated a ban on chewing gum

And not crushing crackers on soup. None of that seems sounds bad except for the reusing of the bathwater

Yes, when I was a kid. I blend them. Louvin

We you know the kids stayed over each other's houses. Yeah, and we go down for breakfast and she makes pancakes

They taste funny. She uses sour milk. Oh to make the pancakes

And I didn't want to be a bad guest and I ate well there's a difference between sour milk and butter milk

This was she said sour milk. Okay, there's certain things in my life. I'll never forget Evelyn van louvin said sour milk

All right, I had to like this. I don't know if you go to bars or not at all but Miller high life is selling a merry highlight

It looks like a 3D neon bar light. It's two and a half feet tall

But it's infused with a stand of tobacco to bring the nostalgic smell of a dive bar into your home

Ha

You know mr. Denise he loves zima

And I used to write for the Milwaukee business journal and I used to cover the booze and beer beat

And he loved that about that job

And so he he thinks that he credits himself for bringing zima back because we got we did this beer dinner with the folks from Miller high life

or for Miller course

And so he told the story that he thinks that zima should be back on the shelves and eventually

He actually it actually did get resold a few for a few years

Okay, real Christmas trees people love real Christmas trees when you buy one make sure the guy at the lot shakes it

Or you might bring home a bunch of bugs into your home or this a carpet cleaner

Is that a client's house notice that there was a baby owl inside their Christmas tree

The homeowner was shocked since they had dogs and for three days neither the dogs or the people knew there was an owl in there

Well, he got the owl out took it out and released it into the

air

Then a family when this was in South Africa had a Christmas tree

And they brought it home and realized that snake was wrapped around the tree. Oh, no

And it didn't see it was it bought it

They got a snake guy to come in and get rid of it

That would make me artificial trees for the rest of my life

Okay, things going up in price

And people don't realize it and now they realize it's so expensive they don't buy them anymore concert tickets

They are really up in price they are

Fabric which I don't know about ride shares

streaming services

They're not expensive if you get one, but people getting four of them. You see that TV commercial for

For Max and they showed the guy he said we have to make some come back cutbacks because we have too many streaming services

So grandma has to go

I love it and the whole house is shocked

We have to we have to say goodbye to grandma

You know, it's funny in my in in the Lockwood Davis House hold the I don't watch TV

In fact, I I normally have to if I if my husband is is out

When I use the remote I have to call him to ask you

I'm turning this on this is shame

You know candy bars going up in price. That's true. I went to the gas age and bought my wife a snickers bar

It's like a dollar nine

Potato chips going up in price. I don't know about you, but I did call my bank for a line of credit the other day

I need a bag of lays potato chips

There were six dollars and 63 cents at the pigly wiggly last night

Yeah, I guess they are going up in price

All right, if you in this market you wouldn't take a home like this would be worth it probably worth more

But I guess you know, it's a little out of the way

Zello put Santa's house at the North Pole including the workshop valued over a million dollars now

Probably worth more than that, but you know, it's always location location location right

We want to go to the North Pole. It's gonna be expensive

I can there a few more minutes. I can't get some more of these stories here. I go share with you. Okay. Okay

It's 718 at WRJN a partly sunny day today with a high near 55 degrees. I bought my spring jacket with me today

Rain tonight lows 44, but becoming mostly sunny with a high near 50 on Saturday Sunday

Looks cloudy with a high near 36 not a bad morning at all

Oh

Just see the sleigh bell tingle and ring tingle tingle

I make it lovely with a portion where I took yellow with you

You

It's 721 at WRJ and Denise Lockwood here from Racine County. I and that we're just taking some light moments talk about things that

Everybody's involved in one way or another like you're having guests over for the holidays

You better claim here are the things people are noticing about your filthy house

Oh, no, if you're kitchen is a total disaster a trash can a recycling bin that's overflowing

But here's a bathrooms are dirty in general, but here's the one I don't understand a gross shower or bathtub

When I have somebody of my house, I don't bring them over a bathroom shower

So I don't know what are these peeking in peeking behind the shower curtains. I know they they pick into the

The medicine cabinet. I want to put a sign in there one time. It said no peeking

Or put a thing in there, you know heroin

All right, also they're looking at sticky floors general clutter other services that are gross like tables and countertaps

Dirty dishes in the sink a stinky pet smell in the house. That's where I want to go for Christmas dinner

Wow

That's disgusting. All right, this is kind of a sad state in this country

youtubers the number one dream job teenagers want when they grow up

Isn't that kind of sad? I want to be a youtuber. How does that really help the general health of the

There's knowledge to a part come on

Have you seen some of the youtubers up there?

Have you seen some of those youtube videos after come on

Let's see what else we got here. Oh

Doctor or nurse next on the list. That's pretty good the rest are all famous people jobs

Athletes, musicians and actors they want to be nobody wants to be a DJ anymore

Or journalists

It's so much fun. Nobody wants to be in a nobody wants our jobs

That's why I'm still here who gives the best Christmas gifts 2000 people voted number one mom

Always gives the best Christmas gifts your significant other is next fall by sisters brothers and dads

Then there's a three-way time for last place nephews family friends and roommates

My mother gave me great Christmas gifts that I still use today. She gave me season one of the twilight zone

Bet you that's awesome. She gave me like a 10 DVD set of Alfred Hitchcock movies. Oh wow

I mean she'll pick that so you know why could she knows what I liked yeah, so she went to this and

Some people buy your gifts on what they like right and hopefully there's gonna rub off on you

So you were like what they like my mother didn't do that she went to the stores and said what does Donald like?

Oh, that's a great mama and she went and he still used those gifts today

Mama, thank you mama. I do appreciate it mama

Holiday burnout. It's a real thing

One out of three people get burned out on the holidays before Christmas even comes to fruition

Here the top cost is the shopping the crowds the long lines. I'm gonna add one here one more family

I'm picking my my little sister up today

My my granddaughter is turning one years old on Saturday

And so I'm having lots of family come to the house

So today is the day today is the day

All right holiday burnout coming to the lockwood resident. So tell you that

Two guys hit the lottery for five point three million dollars

But they won't see a penny of it because they bought it with a stolen debit card. Oh have they used their own two dollars

They wouldn't first of all be going to jail. They wouldn't got caught. I wouldn't have gotten caught

And they would have five point three million dollars

The risk versus reward

Conversation around

It is but it's just like okay, maybe they should teach a class of risk versus reward and criminality

Like what do you get out of this and what do you like what is the consequences, right?

Interested if they had bought it with their own two dollars. They wouldn't be in jail and they'd be millionaires today

Yeah, they were just stupid

A new survey found the most stressful things about the holiday shopping for gifts

Traveling or visiting family

Extra cooking receiving gifts now I that's stressful for me because I don't like getting gifts

I really don't because everything I want I buy myself and then I have to sit there to oh just what I want it

Thank you

And I know it's going to goodwill in three days

Dealing with crowds and long lines

Other shopping related stressors attending parties and social events family politics

Fitting an extra work especially if you work at a store and you know extra hours of Christmas time

Hosting family and friends that's your stressor right? Well, yeah, yeah, yeah picking up little sisters

New study monitored people as they drove in the car with two different things their kids or a cake

Which do you think they're more careful of the kids or the cake in the car

The cake 95% of people are more careful when they had a cake

These they're honest. Oh, you know quite a few new Paul the worst gifts you can give somebody

Shower jail popcorn

Socks a collection of lotions. Oh my husband would absolutely

He would have problems with that list because like his his his Nana used to give him

The whole family socks for Christmas and like when she passed away

They she's she's obviously stopped doing it. And so he misses those socks. Oh, and he he also used to get underwear

I'm gonna kind of know now. I asked my mother one year say what do you want to say that I want underwear for Christmas

I'm not getting you underwear

And I said, but that's what I want. I'm not getting you underwear

Yeah, you bought my underwear for me going whole life all of a sudden I want to do it. You won't buy it for me

Also on the list were a collection of lotions a coffee mug liquor

Tea a candle a photo calendar and coffee and people used to get candles a lot for people

You know, those went right to goodwill

Um, let's see a new survey of people who were goodwill has a right the week after Christmas goodwill must be loaded with stuff

I bet all these all these Christmas presents coming in

Okay, there's everybody else people who were planning to buy gifts this year and

Pets were almost the most popular ones to buy gifts for people always buy their dogs and cats gifts

I but I usually throw a little treat just you know

What I why I do it though is because I I want to keep a little Miss Daisy out of the way

So I want to occupy her. Yeah, right. So yeah, that's yeah, that's why yeah, yeah, yeah

57% of us is regifted something we didn't like 54% of snuck a peek at a present before Christmas and 42% have opened something in a store

and not purchased it

Last story the thing that got me into radio was the Remko caravale radio

1963 or 62 my parents had bought it to me for Christmas

Remko not ronco

Remko r-e-m-c-o

Remko made all the toys back in the 60s

and the Remko caravale radio is a transmitter and

You broadcast to a radio in the house, but I was a little smarter. I touched the wire the antenna wire to my phone

and it broadcast

To about three or four houses out if you kept your radio near the phone because all phone wires are connected

Yeah, yeah, so and then I got a better idea

I went into the garage and connected it to the main

Why are coming into the house from the phone company now the whole block heard me as long as their AM radio

was right near

The phone and that's how I got into radio that is an interesting story. That's how it all started

Love that then these thanks for coming in

Yeah, that was great. Yeah, I love having you here and I want you back

Okay, when next time you get a breaking story. I want you to have to you publish it on Racine County

I I want you to talk about it here on the radio. I would love that

Okay, Racine County i.com Racine County i.com for local news

Oh, that's great. All right, come it up next. We're going to talk movies with Brett Hoffman

That's straight ahead here at WRG and I'm Don Rosen 729 on your Friday morning

you

I'm

people around

It's 7 35 at WRJ and radio 1400 am 99.9 FM 98.1 FM

It looks like a beautiful sunny morning with a high today of 55 degrees 46 right now looks like a not a bad weekend

Some rain tonight, but becoming mostly sunny on Sunday with a high near 50

Sunday cloudy with a high near 36 and up in door county

I could tell you exactly what the weather's like. What is it like for it?

Well, it's going to be the high 40s today

So a little bit less of a temperature than what you have, but it's still great

Yeah, middle of December. Oh, I love door county beautiful place

I want to say the whole radio show from door county one of our people around

House up there and the convention for those constant broadcasters up there

So we took the morning show for two days up in door county

And I said we do this permanently. I mean, can I just live up?

Okay, Brett's here for Marcus theaters and we're going to find out what's opening and also a whole bunch of

holiday classic holiday movies playing at the theaters and I go every year to see these because

Singum on the big screens a whole different experience. So what's opening today Brett one film

Well, there's one film and it's the boy in the hair on it's an anime film and let me tell you this is a good one

It's written and directed by Hyo musaki now he is recognized as one of Japan's greatest animators and directors of

all time

Once thought that he was retiring, but he's coming back for at least this picture

And it's going to do phenomenal at the box office, which is something people don't normally see anime films doing that well

But this one's got a pedigree. It's got a great director and

if you

Love anime then you got to go out and see it and you probably know about this movie

If you haven't launched Japanese anime then this is one you should go out and see to see what it's all about because it's

Spectacular, it's about a young boy the yearning for his mother

He ventures into this world that has both the living and the dead and that

But as I mentioned this is

This is quintessential anime. This is something to see as an example of

What it can be like and it's gonna do very very well the box office anime fans

And hopefully get a few others interested in the genre as well. Yeah for Bill. They'll know it's anime

And it's it's a Japanese style of and you'd recognize it if you see it

It's the kids got the big white eyes

They all the characters tend to look alike a little bit the same characteristics

But the spirit of the way is the film I have by this director at home, and it's just it's a classic film

Okay, now you have speaking about classic

The theaters are showing classic holiday movies. I get to wonderful life on the big screen

And what you run over a list of some of the movies still playing through Christmas

Yeah, well this upcoming week this summer is through 14th

We have a myriad of pictures and and let's go through them because they're all great

The first one coming up this week polar express

This is from 2004. It was based on the Chris Osberg novel and

Rather to mechus directed this and when it first came out

I think people are a little skeptical about the animation because they use this live motion capture computer animation

And I think people are a little skeptical about how it looked

But this is this is a Christmas classic. This is something people look forward to every year

Tom Hanks of course. I was in it in a voice. That's polar express

By the way, Tom Hanks is placed five roles in this movie

He's five different characters and you believe every one of them. I love this movie

I just I think it's a fantastic movie and I saw it in theaters when it first came out. It's very good

All right, nothing very good the next one and they're all good by the way

This is a great list. This is a greatest hits Christmas list national ampune's Christmas vacation

We have that this week

I could watch this movie over and over and over again. It has so many classic moments and let me tell you

I think people can relate to this movie because

Everyone has crazy relatives

Everyone has been a position where they're trying to impress the relatives and their family

I can tell you how many times I've been outside trying to put lights up on the outside of a house and having

Not work. I mean, there is so many relatable moments in this movie and it goes on and on and on

So Chevy chase of course is great. Beverly and you look at the end was great

You got junior league drivers as the neighbor. I mean everything just came together with this movie national ampune's Christmas vacation

Well, what are you watching home? But it's better on the big screen with other people one of my mother's favorite movies

My favorite scene is when you can't get the lights to work on the house

Chevy chase goes into the garage and there's 15 plugs into one socket

And he says nothing looks everything okay here

Okay, what's next?

That's when it's an animated movie it's in 2012 rise of the guardians

It had Hugh Jackman and Alex Boyle and his voices

All of the guardians get together and they include Santa Claus Jack Frost the two fairy and they're basically trying to save the world from

From the evil pitch black character in the movie. This is a classic movie. It deals with a lot of different holidays

And people have really liked this one and that's what we brought it back. So rise the guardians in 2012

And then the next one we're going to delve into the classic movies here white Christmas from 1954

If people really go back and they look at kind of those real classic movies you brought up on which is it's a wonderful life

Which he played last week

I would say this one is probably number two on my list white Christmas from 1954

You know, it's great watching them because there are some in dance team. There's a lot of comedy in this one

There's romance in it

There's beautiful kind of scenery that they've kind of mocked up to look like for months

So white Christmas to me is probably my number two classic Christmas film and I just love watching been

Danny Kay and on screen together. So this one is a tremendous one

If you haven't got a chance to see this type of movie on screen you're really should go see it because it holds up spectacularly

What's next do you want? Yep. We got a couple more. Let's see

Everyone's going to recognize this one for Christmas and it's a Christmas story. Oh, yes

Gonna shoot your eye out

From 1983

Now jean shepherd was an amazing writer and man did he put together a script here that is amazing as well

And you know, we talked about national post Christmas vacation. I think jean really understood nostalgia

And he really understood the family

Because how relatable are these characters? You know, they love one another and everything comes together everything between the bullies at school

To again, you look at the father

Kind of thing there that the father and how many out you know plugs

He's got in the outlets and he's always trying to fix something. He's always got a scheme

So a Christmas story is one that I think people could watch over and over and over to watch the adventures of Ralphie and his family

and I

Like I said, I think this is another one that people can watch at home

But it's really neat to watch one of these movies in the big screen with everyone else around you

And just to watch you as a communal experience and here's something you don't know Ian Petrella

Ian Petrella who played Ralphie's brother in the film, you know with the coat that he fell down and couldn't get up

He was a guest in our studios here a couple of years ago

He he was in town for a showing of a Christmas story and he stopped by our studios. I had him on the air with me and

What a great great guy to talk to. I don't think he's done anything since but I mean it was great

All right, what's next on your list?

Well, we got three more and they're all they're all good

So like I said, these are all playing this weekend Marcus theaters love actually. It's rated our from 2003

There's some thousand lives of eight different couples that are dealing with their love lives in some various interrelated tales that go on in

London it stars Hugh Grant

It it stars a whole it's starting cure nightly. It starts a whole bunch of people in this one and

Take a look at this one. It is a movie for adults

But the way they interweave these stories is really amazing

So I would take a look at this as I mentioned Hugh Grant Lee and Lisa and a whole bunch of other characters in this movie

Go check out love actually if you haven't seen it, but it's definitely a classic from 2003

And then another one. It's become a classic and maybe up there in most people's top five baby top couple

Is a movie from 2003 and that's the course elf

We played this last week. We held it over by popular demand

John Favreau of directing Will Farrow who's starring as buddy the elf

This one has so many good classic moments in it and I really like the style of this movie

You know John Favreau kind of modeled it off of some of the scenes in the north pole off a roof

They're in his reindeer and you can really see that when you watch the film

But a great film visually and obviously just a great comedy with elf

So check that one out too that one's become a holiday tradition and another one

It's always great to laugh with an audience that enjoys the film together on the big screen

Let me tell you something that's really interesting my wife and I um

I think a year or so ago right before covid actually

We saw it's a wonderful life you played that first of all it's really interesting because

The movie is not it's not a wide screen movie at all because back in the 40s

It was almost like the square that you see on a TV

That's the way they made him and that's the way you showed it

And that's the way you have to do it because if you make it wide screen

You got to cut off the top of the bottom

But you guys didn't do that you showed it just and the aspect ratio was supposed to be shown

And we noticed stuff we never noticed when we watch it on TV for example

Uncle Billy

When he's all distressed about the missing money and a bird lands on remember his pet bird lands on his shoulder

He's all distressed

What I never saw before there was a dog on the floor he actually had a dog

And my wife and I said we never noticed that dog before

But when you see it on a big screen you start noticing all the nuances in the in the frame

That you never saw before

And I when I said I never knew there was a dog in that scene

Uncle Billy owned a dog and that's how we saw it

But yeah, it's a whole different experience when you watch it with an audience and you watch it on a giant screen like a movie theater screen

And I'm so glad you bring those pictures back and my mother we you ran

Christmas store and a christian or a national influence

Christmas occasions several years ago

And my mother wanted to see it on the big screen

She had the DVD but she wanted to see it in the movie theater and we brought her into see it and

You also brought some other films back over the years the sound of music with the roadshow

It's a complete intermission and everything which was great to see some of these old films back on the big screen again

And during COVID when new films weren't being released

You actually brought back some real classics and

People love seeing those films. I mean

It's it's one thing to see them on your tv set and you're living room and you're underwear

But it's nothing to get dressed up and go out to a movie theater

Go see it with with an audience

My my favorite revival you did was back to the future too

And you brought it back on the date that was in the newspaper on USA today

That Martin McFly

Reads in the movie do you remember that it would I forget the date

But USA today he picks up a copy of USA today to find out his kid was arrested

And he goes back to that date and that was the date you showed it in the theater

It was so crowded that they had

Moving into another theater as well and show it there as well

Because everybody wanted to be there on that date to watch back to the future too

And what made it really good was

USA today put out of the edition of their newspaper with the exact cover

You saw it and back to the future too

Now the people who didn't ever saw that movie didn't know what USA today was doing

But they put out that cover on that date. So

And that day was that cover 21st

2015 that's when you showed it

And and we still would have flying cars but go figure

And here's the thing

USA today didn't put the cover out until the next day because remember Marty McFly gets it and he has to go back 24 hours to fix the problem

So USA today was smart. They put out the paper the next day not the date you see in the film

Because that's the date Marty McFly actually got the paper to find that his kid was arrested and he go back another day

So you had to think you had to think about that and you got me something once too a bottle of Pepsi perfect

Remember that that's right. That's right from that movie

Yeah, and you got it and I gave it to my son and he's got he's a big back to the future fan

And he's got it displayed in his house

Pepsi Pepsi perfect which we still don't have today

We're talking sports with Mike Clemens coming up in just a moment here at WRJ and radio at 749

Gotta keep it here

Let's see you got partly sunny weather today with a hundred fifty five degrees. No, it's not April or May

It is December hard to believe huh

You

It's the most wonderful time of the year. Oh, it is

Always wonderful

It's 751 at WRJ on Friday. Yeah Friday morning. It's a Friday afternoon Friday morning

And that means my Clemens is here my Clemens is sportsman for this radio station and other radio station

The civic media group and thanks for joining us. I do appreciate it Mike

Hi, Donna. How are you? Good. So we came off the Taylor Swift whole thing at the Lambo field

I saw some of the footage of her walking through the tunnels at Lambo field with an entourage

The one thing I didn't realize how tall she is

She is tall

And then just a couple days later time magazine named her

Person of the year which is actually a really interesting article if you get to to read it

I mean, you know she sold over four million tickets

She's so popular right now that they had to have congressional hearings with ticket master and live nation and ticket broker

Because the congress wants to know, you know, what was what shady deals were going on there

But yeah, so you know, it's a big game. She's dating Travis Kelsey the outstanding tight end for the Kansas City chiefs

Some people complaining like, you know, she's getting too much publicity or they talk about her too much during the games

And whatever in the in the meantime, you know, she's just named person of the year for a reason

And by the way, she's also named Forbes most powerful woman in America

Yeah, and uh, and what it wasn't she named after James Taylor didn't her parents name were after that. Yeah

Yeah, they did they did that that's what she got to name Taylor

So here's the thing some of my friends, you know local media people thought well, we got to get a picture of her right?

So uh

It turns out they were bringing her down on the loading dock and one of my friends

Cassidy was shooting video and she was in the perfect spot in the loading dock area

Uh, and just about a minute or two before you got the sense that they run open the doors and she and her friends were coming through

Some security guy grabbed Cassidy said no, no, you got to be back here behind this line

Okay, so she picks up her tripod. She turns there's a picture of Cassidy from one of the TV stations

Where she's trying to hustle and reset up and there goes Taylor Swift walking behind her

And that's that that's how we got the pictures and then she turned around she was already gone

So she didn't get any pictures

So what's happening with the what let's talk about the bowl games for a second here the rose bowl set

The um, what's the other bowl that's set to I heard a couple of them were set already

What do you have the back? I haven't found that much. I know that the badgers are set and then one that used to be the outback bowl and

Tampa and I believe that's on

On New Year's Day like a new starter. So now you don't I don't know if you remember this

I don't know if you're here at the station at the time, but one time I decided to get some bowl games on the air

And I got all 33 bowl games on WRJN now some had to be re you know taped and replayed later on and we were doing that

And I don't know what got a hold of me. I got 33 contracts a lot of them who are mom and pop operations

That's a lot of work and yeah, I just got carried away with it and we got every single bowl game on WRJN

That's got to be a record. I don't think any other way did you have to come in and I help engineer that

No, okay, here's the next satellite we got to hook up to

I laid out a complete list of where the satellite changes had to be and hooked up to do to record these things on real to real

I had to sit we had to say we did some on VHS tapes some on real to real at the same time

And we were running them till sometimes five o'clock in the morning

But in the morning show stuff

But I just wanted to get all 33 on the air and I did it and you had to talk to some real

Makeshift networks carrying some of these bowl games, but we did it

All right, so I bet you there was one guy there on a scotch that went through every one of those bowl games

With the big bowl of popcorn

Well, it started we got the badgers because at that time you couldn't get them because WTMJ had the badgers

But I got it but I got that game and then I worked into other bowl games and

Got every single one of them and I'll never do that again in our life

They are popular. They are popular. That's why they have them. So what are we coming up this weekend?

Well tomorrow it's going to be the badgers basketball team that is actually kind of on a roll

It was a big upset when they beat

Marquette. There was ranked number third in the nation

They dropped eight and that win helped the

Wisconsin Badgers men's basketball team get up to the 23rd rank not tomorrow

They will really find out good there because they have to take on the number one ranked team Arizona

Out in Tucson. That's again to tips off at about two 15 tomorrow

By the way the women's volleyball team up in Madison and UW-Madison

They won their game last night and so they go to the next level

To in the NCAA national tournament for volleyball teams. They've had a really good year

They've only lost like one or two matches so far

But then we got Monday night football with the Packers on the road against the Giants the Giants

We're off to a really horrible start and their quarterback was averaged to begin with got hurt Tyrod Taylor

An NFL journeyman he had a hip injury. So they brought in a kid named

Tommy DeVito from New Jersey

Who is out to reviewing Italian food the other day

And he's their new quarterback and they've named him the starters

They've actually won their last three games in a row

So the Packers are going to face a team that's excited to see if they can you know get a little

Respect back for the Giants the Giants

Don are the team that the Packers played last year when they went to London

And they were really tough last year they ended up getting into the playoffs

And Aaron Rodgers fractured his thumb toward the end of the game

They had a five game losing streak after that, but there was one play where Rodgers

Came to the line they were they needed a touchdown there about about the five yard line

And he pinched his shoulder and then he tried to throw it to the right and Alan was hard

You know the the the bass was blocked

So Lazar didn't have a chance to catch it

And Mark Sanchez the former quarterback was doing those the analysis on the broadcast

He backed it up and said look at this and he made a big red circle says you see Rodgers pension is his Jersey

That's the signal but the play is going right

So you see that you know the Giants have got that figured out

Spiders and spiders and spiders

Wink Martin Dale his real name is Don, but he's named after that you know the

He's all the game shows yeah, he's a pretty smart guy pretty smart guy now. Here's the other thing

I told Alan Lazar the wide receiver when they got back from London

I said

Did you know that they talked about that on TV that that's the signal and it's jaw drops. So a month goes by

Then they were again they were they had a life five game losing streak

But they were close where they could have scored another touchdown

I think it was against the Lions and Rodgers backs up and throws a ball to an empty space in the in the left part of the endzone

and he's like

Sammy Watkins was standing there in the back of the endzone in the middle and then realized oh he ran the wrong route

So a few days later somebody asked him yeah, what happened that play because you know Rodgers threw it to open space

He goes I missed the signal man and he pinched his shoulder

So even though I tried to tell Lazar these teams know that that's your signal that the plays go into the left or who go into the right

He they did it again. I was like

Well, this is why you know they ended up having a five game losing streak I think

Mike Clemmons you can hear him with sports throughout the day on WRJ and radio and a lot of the other civic media stations as well

He's here every Friday morning. He's a good friend. I like Mike like Mike

And I went to have a great weekend my friend and so the Packers are playing Monday night this week against the

I know it says New York giant really the New Jersey giant. Let's call it what it is, okay

Yeah, this is they're in the metal land

There's only one New York team the Buffalo Bills

That's it. That's the only team in New York the Buffaloville

Hey, thank you a lot Mike and they have a great weekend my friend will be listening for you right here in WRJ

Thank you Don't bye bye now

All right, have yourself a great weekend. You can have a great weather today for a partly sunny with a high-tier 55 degrees

I'm Don Rosen. I will catch you Monday morning right here

60 and bright nearly on civic media's WRJ and hometown radio refreshed
