The Don Rosen Show · Wed Nov 29, 2023

As we all know, you have to make sure that the plug is right at the back and the wire so you can't see it, so it doesn't ruin the aesthetic.

The problem with this, of course, is that every night you leave it on because it looks so lovely.

And you're halfway out the stairs and you stop.

And you think there could be a fire.

If he's literally every night of December before bed, I'm downstairs under the tree.

Can I do it?

I need to do something.

Can you help me?

You can't leave us some buttons.

Some buttons.

Oh!

Oh!

Oh!

Rockin' around the Christmas tree at the Christmas Marie-Hop.

Missed all the way, you can't see every couple try, let's be star.

Rockin' around the Christmas tree at the Christmas Marie-Hop.

Later we'll have some fucking fire and we'll do some caroling.

You will get us a little feeling when you hear.

The voices singing, let's be darling.

Those with balls of party won't get around.

The Christmas tree at the Christmas Marie-Hop.

Brenda Lee was only 13 years old when she recorded that song.

And she had a nice rock and roll career.

Things to do with some country music as well.

Talking about warring, about fires in the house with the Christmas tree.

It's almost hard to believe.

But they used to like candles on Christmas trees.

Back before electricity.

Could you imagine that?

Not to go into bed at night.

Well, we got the fire, the candles okay on the tree.

Now chaos sleep tight tonight.

Yeah, we'll all sleep the sleep of angels knowing there's fire.

It's tree in our wooden house, huh?

You will get us a little feeling when you hear.

The voices singing, let's be darling.

Those with balls of party won't get around.

The Christmas tree have a happy holiday.

Everyone dancing marrally in the news.

Oh, by show.

Rocking around the Christmas tree.

Alright, I love it, Brenda Lee.

Here at WRG and I've gone roasted at 608.

We're looking for sunshine today with a high near 40.

Increasing cloudiness tonight.

It lows around 30 partly sunny with a high near 44 degrees tomorrow.

Let's check that current temperature now.

And we get the exact temperatures 25 degrees for the clear sky.

And a full moon.

Yeah, full moon out there this morning.

It looks really nice.

Nice and bright. It lights up the whole street.

Very nice.

Coming up this morning at seven o'clock.

Kelly Cruz is going to be here from downtown Racine Corporation.

By the what's happening in Christmas time downtown.

They get that beautiful new Christmas tree up.

And this one, I think it's the first year that's an artificial tree.

And it looks so nice.

Yeah, we drive in in the morning.

It's all bright and lit up and I love it.

They got all the wreaths hanging from the light posts with the lights.

Yeah, very nice job.

How many restaurants do you think we have in downtown?

Well, we'll find out with Kelly Cruz.

That's coming up at seven o'clock this morning.

Now there are a lot of Christmas traditions in everybody's home.

Everybody's got some kind of Christmas tradition.

However, there is some that appear to be outdated.

The vast majority of us don't plan on doing these this year.

Going door to door singing Christmas carols.

I talked about this the other day.

I did it once because I was invited.

I don't sing.

And I don't know.

It worked that well that I didn't do it.

I did it once.

But I never was invited again.

But when was the last time you heard carolers coming to your door?

You probably throw a bucket of water on them if they came today.

But I just I haven't seen it in the long time.

Is anybody doing caroling out there?

Door to door making a change your bread house.

Now my mother never made one.

So I never grew up with that.

Drinking eggnog.

Oh, I do it year round.

If they sold it year round, I mean regular eggnog.

Nothing spiked it in the alcohol.

I love eggnog.

The problem is it's very, very, very fattening.

I mean the thicker, the more fattening it is.

I love eggnog.

I think I might pick some up later.

Hanging a mistletoe.

I don't think I've ever done that.

And tipping your mailman.

I do that every year.

I think, and I don't quote me on this,

but I think there's a $20 limit on what you can tip the letter carrier.

I'm pretty sure it's 20 bucks.

There's a gift card for the letter carrier.

And I just, I just about an hour before they come, I take it to the mailbox

and have them get it.

It's a thankless job delivering mail walking in the rain, the snow, the sleet.

You know, it is a thankless job.

We thank them for it.

But we want our mail.

Although the younger you are, the less mail you're getting these days.

Because, like my daughter, she does everything online.

All the bills and everything.

I like the old fashioned way.

I like getting it in the mail and mailing it.

Although I heard there's a scam out there now.

What people are doing, unscrupulous people are doing.

They're getting the mail out of the mailbox.

And they're opening up to find the checks and they wash the checks.

They call it check washing where they will fill in a different amount

and put their name or some other name on it.

They'll cast the check.

And the white badge of bank accounts.

We know two people that have happened.

My wife and I have two people.

Who said that happened to them?

Now, I write with a gel pen.

And when you write with a gel pen, you can't wash it out.

Because the gel pen comes part of the paper.

When you write with a ballpoint pen, you can wash it out.

So I always use a gel pen.

And if you want to avoid it, mail your mail at the post office where nobody can get into it.

Or if you know your letters are going to be picked up at 12 noon,

robbing the mailbox at 11, 11, 30 on a busy street.

But I never had to happen to me.

But we have two people that had to happen to them.

A study looked into when each state gets burned out on holiday cheer

and needs a break from drinking and partying.

People in all 50 states say they're burned out by December 15th.

I never get burned out.

I get a little burned out on Christmas music after a while.

But we don't go to that many parties.

We're having a company Christmas party this year.

I've been to a company Christmas party.

And I can't remember when radio station I worked at in Lake Geneva.

They had the party at the owner's house a couple of years ago,

which was nice.

It was very nice.

It wasn't a, you know, it was a very nice party.

And he's very generous to open up his house to all the employees,

which I thought was nice.

But this one's going to be an overnight stay.

This very nice company.

Thank you, civic media.

It's my vacation on them.

That's very nice.

But dad told us little boy that father Christmas put him on the naughty list.

But the kid refused to believe it's true and passionately argued his case.

When dad said father Christmas actually told him he was on the naughty list.

The kid said quote, then I will do an upper cut to him.

I will punch his beard off.

Well, I think he just got on the naughty list quite a few more times for that.

Interesting.

A new poll says this, especially if you have parties this year.

The average journey dish sits in the sink for a day and a half.

But young people are really to blame for that.

Most people over the age of 25 think more than a day is too long.

But the younger people say up to four days is acceptable.

Four days for a dirty dish.

My wife won't tolerate it for an hour.

That dish has to be cleaned.

Do you have an old pair of jeans in the house?

The oldest pair of jeans in the world.

Just sold for $114,000.

They were pulled from a sunken trunk.

Often 1857 shipwreck off the coast of North Carolina.

Their current state, their extremely hip.

Someone's getting a special Christmas gift I guess this year.

I saw a pair go for sale on what's that TV show upon stars for over $100,000.

I didn't see that.

What was the one I had from yesterday here?

I don't know what I did with it.

I thought I had it right here.

The heck that I do with it.

Well, I'll find it.

Okay.

It's about the Christmas goodies for you here this morning.

Fun fact, reindeer can change the color of their eyes.

Their eyes change from golden brown to blue during the Arctic winter months to help them catch more light.

Movie fun fact.

You've seen back to the future, right?

And Christopher Lloyd is Doc Brown.

He's always hunched over in the movie.

Why?

Because Michael J. Fox is short.

And he didn't want to tower over him.

Lloyd is six foot one.

Michael J. Fox.

Five foot four.

So they brought him down a peg.

A site called Find My Past went through 14 billion documents from the past 500 years looking for people with holiday themed names.

Now this is almost hard to believe.

The most common name was Ivy.

That's pretty easy to believe.

At least 3,200 kids have been named reindeer.

That's hard to believe.

579 have been named snowman.

And they found 23 people with the name of Eggnog.

Legal names, by the way.

That's a name of your kid Eggnog, reindeer and snowman.

Ivy is a pretty common name.

But Eggnog.

That poor kid's got to live with that for the rest of his life.

Guy in Australia just returned a library book.

Oh, I got to talk to tomorrow with Shea.

He's going to be here from the Racine Public Library.

I got to tell you this.

He just returned a library book.

119 years overdue.

His grandfather checked it out in 1903.

It's an early copy of Great Expectations by Charles Dickens.

Still an excellent shape, by the way.

And just think when he checked that out, the book wasn't that old.

Charles Dickens probably just wrote that about 27 years before.

If your Christmas tree is affecting your air quality, probably.

It doesn't matter if it's a real tree or a fake one.

Real Christmas trees emit volatile organic compounds into the air.

And they could bring in mold and pollen from the outside.

Fake trees potentially contain plastics,

PVCs and flame retardants,

all of which can affect your home's air quality.

So what do we do?

No Christmas tree?

I mean, you get to die from something.

How important is snow during the holiday season?

If given the option, 40% of people say they want to travel somewhere colder or snowier,

rather than hotter or sunnier.

Did you see the news last night?

Did you see the 50 car pile up because of the snow on the road?

We went two way friends wedding a couple of years ago.

It was a nice drive up.

It was by Stephen's point around there.

Coming back, we woke up the next morning and it was snowing.

It was snowing hard.

And we ran like thieves into the night to get into that car and get on the road.

It was scary because who wants to drive home in the snow like that?

That's actually a couple of hours.

So we made it because the interstate was mainly wet,

but it was still snowy.

But we made it. I wouldn't want to drive in a snow storm.

Well, a lot of people don't mind that I do.

I want to come home safe and sound.

But you live in Wisconsin.

What are you going to do?

I'm sunny with a high air 40 degrees today.

Increasing clotiness.

Lowes around 30 partly sunny with a high air 44.

No snow in the forecast.

I like that.

A clear sky of 25 degrees.

Right now at 618 at WRJ,

and I'm Don Rosen.

I want to thank you for joining us here.

What is today? December?

No, it's November still, right?

No, November 29th?

Yeah, November 29th.

Bunk Song, Bach, choir.

And folks dressed up like eSkymos.

Everybody knows.

But Turkey and somenessful tone.

Help to make the season bright.

Tiny tots with their eyes are a glow.

We'll find it hard to sleep tonight.

Here that song was written by Mel Tormay in the dead heat of summer in Palm Springs, California.

He said it was so hot that he wrote down a couple of words on a piece of paper about it being cold.

And he got carried away from there and he wrote this song in the Christmas song on a hot day in Palm Springs.

Mel Tormay was in town.

It's when they used to do the Christmas house for cancer.

Well, it was on the main street.

It was north of Main Street.

No, south of Main Street.

I'm sorry, south of downtown on Main Street.

And these do the Christmas house for cancer bringing a guest every year.

And Mel Tormay was one of the guests.

They brought in one year to play his music.

It was very nice.

It's been said many times.

Many ways.

Merry Christmas to you.

I'm Don Rosen.

Thanks for joining us here at 622 at WRJN.

Time to take a look at some news from the new setter.

Stuart J. Wattholz.

Put our news together this morning.

The Foxconn problem in Racine County seems to have been solved by Microsoft.

A deal is in the works to replace the Iowa based firm currently managing the underused lake view a lakeside venue with received based 5K events.

And that's the news as reported by Stuart J. Wattles in our news center.

Our news director this morning here at WRJN where it's 6.24 on this beautiful morning.

If you're in Florida you wouldn't call this a beautiful morning.

But here in Wisconsin clear at 25 degrees crisp.

I love it. High is a 40 today.

We're going to get near 50 degrees later in the week.

That's what I call winter in Wisconsin.

Would you hide your Christmas presents behind a good spot?

If so, don't tell anybody.

All right. Here are the best ones.

I think the first one is genius. It's so simple.

You hide your presence at a friend's house.

Now, if your kid has his friend living at that house,

you can have him record or the situation report back to the presence of there.

You could also hide them in suitcases in the basement. Nobody looks there.

And in the very back of the closet come on.

That's how I found my Christmas presents when I was a kid.

My parents hid it in their closet.

And when they opened the closet to get their clothes at it was very visible.

I don't know what they were thinking.

Maybe they wanted me to find it.

There were some tips on how to navigate the next couple of weeks

who'd work because it's during the holiday season.

Of course, don't be pushy with your kids candy and wrapping paper sales.

Respect the fact that not everybody gets into the holiday spirit.

Bah humbug.

And when you feel burnt out, remember all the good things you accomplished

and learned and experienced in 2022 and bring them over to 2023.

You have to work between Christmas and New Year's.

18% of people are working the entire week.

33% are taking the whole week off and everyone else work at least some of those days.

I took some of the, I took that week off a couple of times back in the 80s

when I worked at this radio station and then it couldn't take it off anymore.

Because we had a guy there, he was a single guy.

Unfortunately, he's not with us anymore, but a very nice guy.

And he used to book his vacations three to four years in advance.

And he could do it because he didn't have anybody else to consult.

He just took them off.

And all the weeks he took off with a week before Christmas and New Year's

and nobody else can take them off.

And he did it three to four years in advance.

And I said to the HR manager, I said, can you do that?

I said, I think you do it.

I said, but it's not fair to everybody else.

He took it four years in advance.

He said, she said, well, you should have done it.

I can't.

I have a wife to consult.

And I can't predict what's going to happen with her job in four years.

And they said, tough newbies need some quick cash.

Studying found the average person had $68 worth of spare change lying around their house.

We have a chance jar.

And when it fills up, we bring it in.

And there's about $50 or $60 in that change jar every time.

And that's kind of neat, huh?

Money it didn't expect.

Love it.

The average person will go to 11 festive events this winter and spend more than 25 hours mingling.

44% of us plan to sneak out from at least one event without saying goodbye.

We have an event coming up this weekend.

And we didn't go last year.

And I think they cancel it during COVID.

But it's a wonderful event.

And it's a magical group singing.

And then we go out to dinner at the restaurant nearby and became a tradition.

And we do it this weekend.

And I love going to that.

Very nice.

About some rock and roll fun facts for you this morning.

It was an upbeat top 40 hit about cannibalism in 1971.

I should bring it up and play it.

Maybe I will in the next half hour.

It's called Timothy.

It was a one hit wonder band called the buoys B-U-O-Y-S.

The song was written by Rupert Holmes.

The guy who wrote escape, the Pina colada song.

And it's about a group that stranded in the can't find Timothy anywhere.

You know why?

Because they ate him.

It was a big hit song too.

A poll asked when someone you dislike fails at something.

How often do you feel happy about it?

Come on.

10% said they always feel happy.

15% said most of the time.

People always ask me when you leave a radio station.

Do you feel happy when they fail and the ratings go down?

I always say no.

But somewhere deep and down inside this little person yelling, you be.

I don't wish evil upon people.

But you know, you want to think that without you, they're doomed to fail you.

Now, let me tell you, everybody feels like that when they leave a job.

I'm pretty sure they all want the company to fail without them.

Come on.

Be honest.

Especially people in radio.

We have no social redeeming value on the couch to that.

All right.

Sunshine today with a high-tier 40.

I love it.

Increasing clotty this tonight.

It blows around 30 partly sunny tomorrow.

But baby, it's cold outside.

But baby, it's cold outside.

It's been hoping that you drop in.

I'll hold your hands that just like ice.

Beautiful.

What's your problem?

Listen to the fireplace roll.

Beautiful.

Please don't play.

Put some records on while I pour.

Baby, it's bad out there.

No caps to be had out there.

Your eyes are like starlight now.

I'll take your hat, your hair, look swell.

No, no, no.

Why is it when moving?

Can we should go on a save tonight?

What's the sense of hurt in my pride?

Baby, don't hold out.

Baby, it's cold outside.

Baby, it's cold outside.

The answer is no.

Baby, it's cold outside.

Baby, it's cold outside.

I feel bad for Dean Martin.

He died on Christmas day.

I forget the year he passed away.

But I was in a 7-11 store.

And I saw the headlines on the newspaper.

And I said, Dean Martin passed away.

And this was the day after Christmas.

He died on Christmas day.

And he died all alone.

There was nobody with him.

Now, here's a guy that was a member of the rat pack.

I don't know how many times he was married.

I think I only married once.

But what happened was his son was killed.

And I think he was in the Air Force.

And he was killed in a training accident out of the desert

in Nevada somewhere around there.

And he never recovered from that.

He just lived a lonely life and passed away all by himself.

And that was it on Christmas day.

So when I hear Dean Martin, unfortunately,

that's what I think about because I can't get that stuff out of my head.

Let's play some Christmas trivia.

A few of these every morning.

And I see where we left off yesterday.

Ah, who said, God bless us, everyone.

Come on, you know that one, right?

Tiny Tim, what's your favorite Christmas Carol movie?

Don't laugh when I tell you mine.

Mine is Mr. McGoo's Christmas Carol.

And this is a childhood thing because when I was a kid,

NBC used to run it every Christmas.

And it was sponsored by TimeX Watch.

How I remember that?

I don't know.

I can't remember what I had for breakfast yesterday,

but I remember that.

TimeX Watch.

And I loved it every year.

We used to gather around the whole family.

And I'm sure my father didn't want to watch it for the other team's time.

But he sporty joined us.

And we used to watch Mr. McGoo's Christmas Carol.

I have it on a VHS cassette.

I have it on a beta cassette.

Remember beta.

And I also have it on DVD.

And I watch it every Christmas.

I love that show.

What Carol contains the line,

Oh, tidings of comfort and joy.

You might have to think a little bit for that one.

That's God, Rescue Mary Gentlemen.

What Carol contains in the night before Christmas,

I sprang for my bed to see what.

I sprang for my bed to see what was the matter.

Very simple.

Name the three reindeer whose names begin with it,

D.

Well, we got Dasha,

Donder,

and Dancer.

Pretty simple.

Of course, I looked at the answer.

In the song, Grandma got run over by a reindeer.

What did Grandma go to get?

They remember that song.

I think we have it here somewhere.

See what they get her medication.

Grandma got run over by a reindeer.

Patsy and somebody did that song.

I can't remember who else.

What was the first gift?

My true love sent on the sixth day of Christmas.

God, and now you got to do the whole song in your head.

On the first day, a part of the pantry.

Two French hands.

There are three French hands.

Two turtle doves.

Four.

Okay, on the sixth day, it was six geese laying.

Now, be honest.

Did you have to go through the song to get that?

In what city did Miracle on 34th Street take place?

Took place in the York City.

Macy's department store.

Now, they did a remake of Miracle on 34th Street.

And we were at the Northridge movie theaters.

I took my daughter in the lobby.

Was a poster they made for the movie.

And they said, coming soon, Miracle on 42nd Street.

And I said to the manager of the theater,

I said, it's not 42nd Street.

It's 34th Street.

No, that's 42nd Street.

I said, it's not because Macy's department store is on 34th Street.

Not 42nd Street.

I'm pretty sure it's 42nd Street.

Okay.

It's 34th Street.

Miracle on 42nd Street.

What would that be?

In the movie, it's a wonderful live.

How did Clarence cleverly save George's life?

I'm a George Bailey.

I tried to commit suicide.

I gotta watch that movie again.

I love that.

People never get tired of that.

It was on one of the NBC channels on cable.

It wasn't NBC, but it was on one of their channels they ran it.

Do you remember when everybody used to run that show or that movie?

Because it was in the public domain.

The newsroom's when I had a business didn't do the copyright.

So everybody could show copies of it all year long if they wanted to it.

No charge.

The problem became when NBC was, I forget the company that did it for NBC.

Copyrighted the soundtrack.

And therefore only NBC and their subsidiaries can run it.

All right.

So the question was, where was the question here?

I forgot the question already.

And it's a wonderful life.

How did Clarence cleverly save George's life?

He jumped into the river first before George had a chance to commit suicide.

Who kept time with the little drummer boy?

That's interesting.

I didn't know the answer to this.

Once I saw the answer, I said, oh, yeah.

The ox and the lamb did that.

The ox and the lamb.

Through two more.

What is the last ghost in a Christmas carer?

Oh, no, no, no, no.

I do that one.

Hold on a second.

I'll skip that one.

In the night before Christmas, where were the stockings hung or hanged?

No.

Where were the stockings hung in the night before Christmas?

Not the nightmare before Christmas, but the night before Christmas.

By the chimney with care.

In hopes that St. Nicholas would soon be there.

What was the name of the little girl in most versions of the Nutcracker?

What did they do?

Change it.

Why would he be most versions?

What was the name of the little girl in the Nutcracker?

One of my favorites, by the way.

I loved the Nutcracker.

We used to go to the Marcus Center for the performing arts and watch it every year.

The Nutcracker.

So what was it?

Her name was Clara.

I have so many versions of that at home on DVD and VHS.

I loved the Nutcracker.

No spoken words, just great music and great acting and great sets.

I love that.

I love that.

The Nutcracker.

I have a CD.

I'm going to bring it in this holiday season.

It's from the Rotter Records, which I believe was from Milwaukee, the Rotter Records.

And they did the whole Nutcracker with kind of a acoustical type instrument.

It's an orchestra of some somewhat, but it's not loud.

And I love it.

I have it home.

I took it from a radio station.

I used to work at.

And I'll deny that in court.

And I love listening to that.

Here's a Christmas tip for you this year.

Don't put your Christmas tree in front of your Wi-Fi router.

It can mess with your signal, things like lights, ornaments, and tinsel.

It can make it even worse.

Your router shouldn't be plugged into the same outlet as Christmas lights, especially if they twinkle.

Or flash.

30% of Americans say they've been injured during various holiday related activities,

whether it was minor or they was sent to the ER.

Of course, those injuries include 13% of cut themselves while wrapping or opening presents.

11% of slipped or tripped outdoors.

10% have been hurt, cooking during the holidays.

Oh, you burn your fingers on those pots.

6% have been burned by a candle.

Another 6% have tripped or slipped over a holiday related object,

like that toy that was unwrapped and left in the middle of the floor.

And 3% have been injured by a new toy.

That's why they make instructions.

Remember when mom said don't go outside without a coda, you get sick.

Oh, my mom said that.

You can't tell you how many times she said that to me.

It's burned into my brain.

As usual, she was right.

You might want to grab a scarf too.

A study of finally figured out why we get sick more in the winter.

Cold air kills some of the virus fighting immune cells inside your nose.

And therefore you get sick.

Odd, but true.

We're born with only two natural fears, the fear of falling and the fear of loud sounds.

Although the fears and folies are learned to require later in life.

If we do that in a dream, fall in your whole body jerks around in bed.

There are 14 people who have seen physical keys that control...

Oh, this is interesting.

This is scary interesting.

There are 14 people who have seven physical keys that control the main database behind the entire internet.

They're spread out around the world and the keys are all in safe deposit boxes.

I guess that helps us sleep the sleep of angels at night.

Seven keys that control the whole internet.

Sounds like something out of a bad movie.

One of these people forget where the safe deposit boxes are.

86% of people in the survey said they pretended to like a Christmas gift.

They actually hated 71% of us have old unwanted gifts sitting around the house.

But 22% have hated to give so much they just admitted they hated it.

I don't think I've ever hated a gift.

There were gifts that I have no use for.

But I keep them.

I did throw two of them out recently.

They got wet and we had a leak in the house and I had it toss them.

They ever find yourself picking up your phone and unlocking the screen even though you didn't get an alert.

If you have a new message and you don't have any particular reason to use that phone at that moment.

We all do it a lot.

According to a new study, the average person unlocks their cell phone for no reason 10 or 11 times a day.

I do it a lot more than that.

It's up to almost 4,000 times a year.

And if you assume each time you do it, you burn about better minute at 67 hours a year.

We're literally just wasting time aimlessly playing with your cell phone.

So I started doing recently.

I put my cell phone in the bedroom while I'm out in the living room.

Because I don't want to touch it.

I just pick it up and turn it on.

And I want to do that anymore.

So that's what I do.

I just ignore it.

But then I have to go back in the bedroom like top of the hour to see if anybody sent me a message.

Like I can't live without that message.

So I guess we all kind of do it, right?

You don't do it. You're a liar.

Of course you do.

Test the season for flying somewhere.

Does it annoy you when people on a plane stand up in the aisle before it's their turn to get off?

63% of people in the polls said yes.

41% of people also said it's annoying if people clap when the plane lands without crashing.

But neither of those things made it to our list of the top airline pet peeves.

We didn't crash.

Yay.

All right.

When the person behind you kicks your seat, usually a kid, but not always.

Line cutting.

That includes people who try to cut at check and navigate.

People who crowd the gate before it's time to board.

Oh, you always get those people to get on the line just outside the gate door, right?

Strangers who forced you into a small talk on the airplane.

That's not the worst person you can say next to though.

The poll also finds 74% of us would rather deal with a nonstop talker than somebody who stinks.

I was on a flight.

And there was a detective next to me because he talked to me a little bit told me he was a detective.

And I believe them.

And get he just smelled.

I don't know this guy showered in the long time.

Maybe I don't know what the reason was, but he just here was really bad.

So why does it next to him on the whole flight?

Stinky.

Stinky on the flight.

But, you know, they were together.

Luckily, it was from New York to Milwaukee.

It was only a little over an hour and a half.

But look about six hours.

After a while, I think you get used to it.

But get in your nostrils and you still smell it if I get off the flight.

Also hate the person who puts their seat back.

I'm six foot three.

So I need leg room.

If you're five foot four, you don't have any leg room.

Imagine me.

And they put their seat back and I bang it with my knees.

Eventually, some people will move it forward again.

So I'm gone roasting at 6.49 at WRJN Radio,

where it's going to be sunny with a high-tier 40 today,

increasing clouds, lows 30 tonight, partly sunny, 44 the high tomorrow.

It's clear.

Full moon.

25 degrees.

Have a holiday, jolly Christmas.

It's the best time of the year.

I don't know if there'll be snow, but have a cup of cheer.

Have a holiday, jolly Christmas.

And when you walk down the street, say hello to friends you know.

And everyone knew me.

Oh, oh, the mistletoe hung where you can see.

Some body waits for you.

Kisser wants for me.

Have a holiday, jolly Christmas.

And occasion didn't hear.

Hope by golly have a holly jolly Christmas this year.

Have a holly jolly Christmas.

It's the best time of the year.

Have a holiday, jolly Christmas.

And when you walk down the street, say hello to friends you know.

And everyone knew me.

As burlives of the holly jolly Christmas burlives is an academy award winning actor.

He played a real nasty bad guy in the movie The Big Country.

It started Gregory Peck and he won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for The Big Country.

There's also a ton of movies TV shows, but he said his favorite thing was singing.

So he put out Christmas albums.

He sang in a couple of Disney films, especially I think the one was called Summer Magic.

He sang in with Haley Mills.

But yeah, he always he played a bad guy in a lot of movies burlives.

And that's too bad because he's a nice guy from what I could see.

I'm still laughing at the story we had about what annoys people the most on airplanes.

When people start clapping when the plane lands without crashing.

Yeah, he wouldn't crash people have done that before.

I think when there's turbulence and people get nervous.

And then the plane finally lands safely.

I think that's I think that's when they they start clapping.

They don't just clap every time the lands are crashing into a mountain.

A poll asks kids how Santa gets everything done in one night.

I'd like to know that too.

I don't think it everything done in one night.

The top answers include special keys that can open any door.

Really? How does it get past the ring cameras?

He can teleport.

He can walk through walls.

And he can freeze time.

That's probably how he does it.

The time freezing thing because he's got to do it all over the world.

And I don't think it's any way to do it except if you can freeze time.

You sleep text.

It's a real thing.

You can study the researchers found about one quarter of college students

have sent a text message while they were asleep.

Most of them had no memory of sending it the next morning.

That can be dangerous.

Here are some tips to keep your shipped packages safe this month.

Everybody getting their packages sent to them at Christmas time.

Ship things to an Amazon locker, a UPS or FedEx store or to your work.

Team up with neighbors who might be home during the day.

Track packages online.

They call motion activated security cameras.

And try to make your house look like your home.

You know, some of the package delivers just kind of toss it on the porch

so they don't get to the motion detector part.

My son had a package delivered to our neighbor the other day.

And he knew it because the, I think UPS guy took a picture of it on his phone.

And it was our neighbor's porch he put it on.

Yeah, the wrong address.

I have a frosty the snowman true falls quiz.

I'll save that for when Kelly Cruz gets here from the DRC at the top of the hour.

See if she can do that.

Did you hang any Christmas lights over the weekend?

A poll found 23% of people usually start decorating the first week of December.

15% still think that's too early.

I think we're going to put up some lights we have.

It's not you don't hang them on the house you put out in front.

And it's like laser lights.

I think we'll do that.

The problem is the remote doesn't work.

So you physically have to go out there and turn them on or off.

In the first week of December.

If someone says Merry Christmas to you, would you say it back?

Now we're talking about next week in the first week of December.

A poll asked when it's acceptable, acceptable to start saying it.

Almost three and four people think it's way too early.

30% said not until mid December should you say Merry Christmas.

I love it.

28% said only during the week of Christmas.

7% said you shouldn't say it until Christmas day.

28% said it's acceptable right now.

That includes 21% who said it's okay starting on December 1st.

5% said sometime in November.

At 2% think it's people should be allowed to say Merry Christmas 365 days a year.

Those people get locked up.

No, I still say happy Thanksgiving because Thanksgiving just the other day.

Even though tomorrow's a week away from Thanksgiving.

Tomorrow's a week away from Thanksgiving.

That doesn't seem right.

Anyway, I still say happy Thanksgiving still.

Is that allowed?

All right, super eight motels.

One sold candles that smelled like road trips.

The set cost $19.74.

It included eight different four-ounce candles.

My question was, what does a road trip smell like?

I've been on a lot of road trips.

I have no idea what they smell like.

The name of this product couldn't be clearer, but how do you not know this?

A bunch of people have been posting this on social media after realizing nutcrackers can actually crack nuts.

Some people that didn't know it might just think of the play the nutcracker.

So maybe they assumed the doll versions came from that and ever thought about it.

But yet nutcrackers actually crack nuts like walnuts or something if you want to crack a walnut.

Star storms are on the way.

That's inevitable, right?

A poll asked, what's the longest period of time you think we should go without power in your home?

The most popular answer was one to five hours.

17% can handle that.

10% said they can do six to 10 hours.

9% said one day.

8% said two days.

Another 8% are prepared for the long haul.

I guess they could do more than a week on the flip side.

7% said they can't even make it an hour.

5% said they can't go without power for any length of time.

It could be me.

There was a comedian that said he said when the power goes out, people tend to go to the garages.

They sit with the door open up.

They look at the neighbors and watch the neighborhood.

And he said when they do that,

seconds turn into minutes.

Minutes turn into days.

No, actually minutes turn into hours.

Hours turn into days.

Days into weeks.

Weeks into the years.

Years into decades.

Decades into millennium.

Before you know it, you never have power again.

Please, I can't do without it at all.

Our power went out a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday.

It was gone.

It was out for 10 hours.

But we got out of the house because we don't want to deal with thinking about it.

And Don Rosen, thanks for joining us here at 658 at WRGN.

Kelly Cruz from the Downtown Racine Corporation.

Coming up at just a few moments here.

Right after seven o'clock, it's clear.

Simone is out.

Mines 25 degrees.

News coming up next.
