And the Survey Says…

The Don Rosen Show · Fri Nov 24, 2023

I love going to the grocery store. It's like a museum of food I've eaten.

Ah, the work of Frito Lay.

A lovely exhibit.

Peanut butter and jelly in the same jar of masterpiece.

What is this double stuffed Oreos? How abstract.

I do feel uncomfortable when they're bagging my groceries though. Talk about feeling lazy.

Hey, thanks for putting my groceries in my bag.

I could help, but I'll just watch.

Yeah, I'm exhausted from picking that out.

You want to come home and unpack them for me?

I'm looking for a friend.

When did we have to become members of all these grocery stores?

Are you a member of our secret club?

I'm just getting hot dogs.

That'll be $8,000.

Or you can join our club.

I can't come to a lot of meetings.

Hey, good morning.

Good, good, good, good morning.

I'm Don Rosen. Thanks for joining me here at WRJN.

It is 607 too soon for Christmas music.

A lot of radio stations are playing it, you know, 100%.

And we'll just hear a couple of them throughout the morning.

If you have that feel, Thanksgiving is over.

Gateway to Christmas.

Get a good Thanksgiving, by the way.

Yeah, we, I thought we were going to go out and order food this year.

Like we normally do.

And my wife got up, I guess, in a great mood.

And made an exquisite Thanksgiving dinner.

We had our son over.

I didn't know that was coming.

That really surprised me.

I loved it.

A nice home cook meal.

And I watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

I taped it in the morning because I like to watch it in the afternoon.

And so I was watching it eating my dinner.

And I said, this is Thanksgiving.

We had our family here.

We've got the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Macy's Day Parade.

The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Until, and we're eating our meal on stack trees.

The living room.

But it was really, she had everything going on.

She had the turkey she made.

She had the stuffing.

She made homemade stuffing.

She made out of bread.

She really had a good job.

We had fresh mashed potatoes, not the powdered kind.

She made my favorite carrots, roasted carrots.

We had, what else do we have?

We also had chicken.

In case you wanted to supplement the turkey.

Wow.

I was really surprised.

I didn't expect that coming.

It was just great.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Thank you.

He had 609 looking for sunshine today on this blank Friday.

I put the high temperature and left out the temperature.

Let me see what today's temperature is going to be.

Today's temperature is going to be 33.

I hide here 33 degrees.

I can't believe I left that out.

I put highs and I didn't put the number down.

I was distracted by something.

Tonight, cloudy, lows around 26.

Cloudy tomorrow with a high-tier 37.

Snow showers, possibly on Sunday before noon.

Then just cloudy with a high-tier 37.

Snow showers, which means it's not going to stick or anything like that.

You don't have to worry about that.

610, WRJN coming up this morning at 7 o'clock.

Doug incidents is going to be here talking about the brand new production

at the Racining Theater Guild.

You're going to love it.

It's a musical.

Now, it's either a movie musical or it's a Broadway musical.

Either way you want to look at it, it's a little mermaid.

And we're going to talk about that.

And how do you get kids to act in these musicals?

I'm going to find out about that.

Doug's going to be here at 7 o'clock to talk about that.

Got Thanksgiving leftovers?

What do you do with them?

Well, let's go back to 1953.

1953, the year.

A lot of Thanksgiving leftovers.

The original TV dinner was the result of a Thanksgiving miscalculation by the swans and people.

And that was back in 1953.

The company was left with 260 tons of frozen turkey,

allowing the holiday and the salesman suggested packaging the excess product into trays,

put some sides on there, and sell them as TV dinners.

And that was the birth of the frozen TV dinner.

It all happened with Thanksgiving leftovers on this date in 1953.

Funny how things come around him.

Getting ready for Christmas.

This woman in England decorates her house every Christmas by covering every wall in the house

with wrapping paper from top to bottom, ceiling the floor every wall.

Says the family helps out.

It takes a little over a month to do it.

Now wrapping paper is expensive.

How much does it take to wrap the house?

And then you got to take it down.

No, I keep it simple with decorations in my house.

A man sentenced to 57 months in prison for creating a fake charity

and defrauding his former employer out of nearly $600,000.

Do you remember the Seinfeld episode where George Costanza started the human fund?

He made it up and his boss contributed a few thousand dollars to the human fund.

I guess it's something like that.

How does your boss contribute to a phony charity, $600,000?

You think you check that stuff out before you put that kind of money into a charity?

Speaking about bosses, do you like your boss?

All right.

If you hate your boss, the best thing you can do is let them know about it.

A study found that if an employee and boss don't get along, they should acknowledge it.

You stop stressing, you stop complaining, you stop wasting energy faking your relationship,

and at least an employee being more motivated and working together.

And who knows?

After you're motivated, you feel better.

You might talk it up with your boss and be friends after all, or maybe not.

I've never hated my bow.

No, I never hated my boss.

I didn't get along with a couple of them, but I never hated them.

I don't hate people.

All right.

You want to work less than 40 hours a week, but you make good money.

All right, here's how you do it.

These are the top jobs for people who want to work less than 40 hours a week,

but still want to make above average salaries, a dental hygienist, occupational therapy assistant,

a flight attendant, a librarian.

I have to ask the people at the Racine Public Library if this is true.

Writer and disc jockey.

No, I had a disc jockey in there.

I had to take it out, though, because it says you'll still make above average salaries.

That ain't true.

So that one's coming on me.

Raise that one.

Okay.

A study found people would be willing to pay an average of, oh wait a second, before I read

this, how much value do you put on your life?

Price list, right?

Wrong.

People actually put a value on their life.

And it's less than you might think.

A study found people would be willing to pay an average of $7,751 to live one extra year.

That means for each day we're alive, you're worth 21 bucks.

When you put it that way, you're worth $21.

That's all you willing to pay.

Stay alive an extra day, 21 bucks a day.

Now, if you had a child who passed away or your parents passed away or sibling,

you'd be willing to pay a lot more than that, wouldn't you?

I know I would.

We value a lot of lives at $21 a day.

That's terrible.

Here are some of the best jobs for people who hate people, since they require the least human

interaction, hunters and trappers, unless you're going with another hunter out there.

But if you're a lone hunter and trapper, farm workers, you're in that tractor all day long.

Poets sit alone in the room, ripoetry, writers, same thing, artists, they paid alone.

This jockeys, we sit alone in the booth all day long.

No interaction with anybody.

That's a good job for that.

Here is several different.

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, wait a second, where I start this.

Did you really stuff yourself yesterday?

And I don't mean one plate of turkey and a little bit of mashed potatoes, a little bit of

stuffing, a little bit of vegetables, green bean, carrots, a roll.

I don't mean that.

Did you really stuff yourself?

If you did, here's how to burn it off.

Now, these foods are not necessarily foods you had yesterday.

These are everyday foods.

This is how far you have to walk to burn them off.

I can't have Coca-Cola, 1.6 miles, a Snickers bar.

It takes 15 seconds to eat it, 2.4 miles to get rid of it.

A beef chalupa supreme, 4 miles.

And if you like a big Mac, I've never had a big Mac in my life.

But if a lot of people have big Macs, just to work it off, 6.1 miles.

Is it worth it?

Well, a lot of people think it is.

All right, the average person does a stick with their holiday budget.

It ends up spending $218 more than they planned to.

These are the most common reasons we go over our Christmas budgets each year.

We try to buy that perfect gift for somebody.

And it's a little more expensive than we might have thought.

We forget to include people on our list than we add them in the last second.

That'll do it.

And this is the one we can control.

We buy something for ourselves when we're shopping for others.

Have you ever done that?

You're in the store saying, oh, this would be a nice sweater for my husband.

Wait a second.

This is a beautiful sweater for me over here.

Hold on.

Let me take a look at this.

Yeah, I'm going to get this.

Oh, it's expensive.

I'll have to get a different present for my husband.

A cheaper gift.

That's why people go over.

And it happens.

You know, I do it too.

If I'm in the store and I see something.

It's like, oh, I was going to get this for my wife.

I don't have the money now.

I want to get this for myself.

It happens.

You plan on doing online shopping?

A lot of people do.

If you plan on doing it while you're on the clock at work, get this.

94% of people this holiday season plan on doing some online shopping while they're on the

clock.

And it gets worse.

21% of people don't even care if their boss catches them.

They get while they're on the clock.

I don't care.

Yeah, but you're not supposed to.

I don't care.

Fire me if you want.

I got to get this thing from Amazon right now.

Hold on a second.

Do you hear that report on CBS news?

That was kind of telling.

They said that the Black Fridays aren't what they used to be.

Now I kind of knew this.

Used to be and we used to broadcast every Friday the day after Thanksgiving from Regency

Mall.

We used to go there with our setup on the radio broadcast from there.

And have people enter a contest for a $1,500 shopping spree.

Then we had lesser shopping sprees for the rest of the winners.

And at the end, you couldn't get in the mall.

They had the security guards kind of control the crowds when we drew the winners at nine

o'clock.

We used to get there at about four o'clock in the morning to set up.

So we'd be on the air at five a.m.

And the store, the lines to get into Boston store and Sears and pennies were long.

People want to get those door buster sales.

Those things are all over though.

Nobody's got those anymore.

Hey, you don't find it because they start the Black Friday sales in October.

So it's not that one day sales or not what it used to be and people buy stuff online.

People say I'm not going to do the Black Friday crowds.

Yeah, those are gone.

Remember, I remember talking to women who were there with me, you know, waiting online.

And they said, this is a tradition.

They take their daughters and they go out on Black Friday morning.

They have breakfast at like two o'clock in the morning and they get ready.

They're all excited.

I think those days are over.

Thanks, James.

619 at WRJM going to be a beautiful, sunny day today with 133 degrees.

I'm Don Rosen.

Keep it right here.

WRJM, 14th of the day of 99.9 and 98.1 FM.

WRJM, 14th of the day.

WRJM, 14th of the day.

Thursday.

Yeah.

The Jackson five.

Frosty the snowman at WRJN.

It's the Christmas season now I guess uh, nice giving's over.

It's all Christmas now.

WRJN sunshine today with a hundred thirty three degrees.

A clear sky right now and twenty five degrees.

They forget a Christmas present from somebody and you don't like it and you put that grin

on your face.

Oh, this is nice.

And you know, you don't want it.

Okay.

How long should take you to realize you don't, you're not a big fan of a gift.

Takes a what?

A few seconds.

Well, the average American average person takes 14 seconds to tell if they don't like the

gift they got 84% say they always are thankful for receiving the gift even though it's

something they don't want.

I feel the same way the person put some thought into it.

They're waiting to see your reaction and you give a nice reaction and you say this is

really nice.

Thank you very much.

You don't say what did you get me this for?

Christmas isn't a time to hurt people's feelings.

They really put some thought in place.

I hope they put some thought into it.

But, you know, better just use it.

And here's the thing, if they come over to visit, you better have that out somewhere.

If it's something they gave you.

All right.

What else we got here?

I think you're working too much these days.

This is the 42% rule.

Studies have found your brain and body need you to spend 42% of the time relaxing.

That's about 10 hours a day.

So what happens if you don't give your body 42% of the time to relax?

Eventually you burn out.

You get sick.

You want to sleep for at least 12 hours for a few days because your body needs to catch up.

10 hours to relax.

I think I do more than that.

I don't think it's that.

I think I do a little more than that.

Artificial intelligence now capable of stealing your password just by listening to you type it in.

What is that?

You type it in on your phone.

It's quiet.

How do they know that?

Researchers at Cornell taught an AI to do just that.

It was able to guess the keys people were hitting with a 95% accuracy rate on your pros and cons list for AI.

Add this to the con side.

You know, everybody's saying, oh, AI, it's so great.

No, it's not so great.

It's good in some aspects, but no.

You know, all you said to myself, world would be a better place without computers and high tech.

But I probably wouldn't be alive because I had heart surgery.

And I'm pretty sure they needed high tech to do that heart surgery.

You know, pretty sure somewhere it was involved.

So yeah, we need it, but it's, you know, it can't be used for bad.

And as long as you have human beings on this earth, they'll always take the brightest, the newest technology

and try to find somewhere to corrupt it.

That's too bad.

92% of cat and dog owners still believe at least one common myth about their pet.

The most common one for dogs is wagging their tail means they're happy.

Oh, look, he's wagging his tail. He's a happy dog.

The most common one for dogs wagging the tail does not always mean they're happy.

It can also mean they're just interested in something or feeling extra alert.

The most common myth for cats is they see in total darkness.

They can see it low light, but they cannot see in total darkness in our bats.

People say they realized they were dating a dummy.

You ever feel like that?

You ever ladies, you ever dating this guy and say, oh, this guy's a moron.

Oh, guys, you ever date a woman and say, oh, I don't think this woman graduated kindergarten.

All right, people say they realized they were dating a dummy.

When my ex asked me what kind of animal is Mickey Mouse?

When my ex didn't know what order the months go in?

I asked him to learn and he got mad and said, no, that isn't something I'm interested in.

When my ex asked me, what does the, where is the sun go at night?

Oh, you get to drop these people right away.

There's no hope.

There's no way they're going to get any better than that.

Where does the sun go at night?

Doesn't know the order of the months.

And there's no idea what animal Mickey Mouse is.

That's scary.

All right, compact disk.

I still use CDs.

A lot of people say CDs.

Why don't you just use the Model T?

Why don't you just use a gramophone?

Okay, I still use CDs.

Do you know why CDs, compact disks, hold 74 minutes of music?

There's a reason for it.

It's not just a random number.

It's because when Sony and Phillips were creating the compact disk,

they wanted to make sure one disk could hold Beethoven's ninth symphony,

which comes in exactly at 74 minutes.

So now you know what?

We have TV dinners.

We talked about that.

Now you know why CDs are exactly that length thing.

You learn a lot here.

We'll tell you where the sun goes at night coming up in a few minutes.

And by the way, Mickey Mouse is a mouse, right?

Okay, he's a mouse.

And the order of the months are, let me see if I got this here.

I'll write this down here.

Just make sure it's January, February, not February, but February.

We got March and April.

So it's March April, May.

That's my birthday month.

June, July, you know, then.

Then you've got August after that comes September, October, November and December.

Yeah, there I got it now.

I can't believe that guy didn't know the order of the months.

I didn't want to learn it.

All right, this is from our files.

A mom slammed online was a, excuse me, got slammed online for throwing a 14th birthday party

for her son at a go-kart track.

Nice, huh?

That she charged everyone $82 to attend.

That includes $59 for the cards, $23 for transportation, 80 miles around trip to and from the track.

And on top of that, she asked people to bring a lunch for their kids.

What do you think about that?

Charging for a birthday party.

And it's not just charging.

It's $82 to attend.

I mean, if you're going to throw a party, you got to pick up the cost, right?

Well, my mother never charged anybody for my birthday parties.

Now, cake and coffee for the parents who are free, cake and milk for the kids.

No charge.

All right.

Recent survey has 2,000 parents who named the top qualities they'd like to see their kids' friends have.

These were the qualities they wanted them to have.

Kindness, they wanted to be helpful, funny, hardworking and generous.

I guess, I guess not like Eddie Haskell.

Leave it to me for nobody wants their kids' friends to be phony like Eddie Haskell, huh?

We've got sunshine today for your Black Friday.

It's going to be a sunny Friday.

But the high near 33 degrees, cloddy lows around 26 tonight.

Cloddy with a high near 37 tomorrow.

Snow showers.

Before noon on Sunday, then cloddy with a high near 37.

Nothing's going to stick in a worry.

It's just no shower.

That doesn't stick.

Coming up at 7 o'clock, Doug incidents from the receiving theater guilds going to be here.

He's going to talk about their brand new production, the little mermaid coming in for Christmas.

I'm Don Rose, and thanks for joining us here at WRJN, 1,400 AM, 99.9 FM, and received 98.1 FM in Kenosha.

Wow!

Mom is kissing Santa Claus!

Oh, so mommy gets a sense of love.

Underneath the midst of the last line.

She didn't see me creak.

There was stairs to have a theme.

She thought that I would tuck up in my bed from back to sleep.

Then I saw mommy take a nap.

Underneath the midst of the last line.

Oh, what a rampant would have been.

If they had only seen mommy kissing Santa Claus.

You know who had the original hit of that song?

It was a guy named little Jimmy Boyd.

He was a little child.

He had the original hit with that song back in who knows when.

But it was a long time ago.

Little Jimmy Boyd went on to become an actor.

And as an adult, he was very fine actor.

As a matter of fact, Jim Boyd, Jimmy Boyd grew up to be the actor who played a pivotal role in the movie Inherit the Wind.

Starring Spencer Tracy and Frederick March, a big Academy Award type movie.

And he had a pivotal role in that film.

He was in a lot of other stuff as well, but that was probably his biggest role.

So as an adult, he did well.

I don't know.

I have to look up the rest of his life, but a little Jimmy Boyd.

He was that little kid.

I am mommy kissing Santa Claus.

He had 636 at WRJN.

Again, sunshine today with a height of 33 degrees.

Clouds tonight, loads 26 tomorrow.

Clondie with a hundred thirty seven.

And Sunday, some snow showers maybe before noon.

Then clondie with a hundred thirty seven right now.

Clear and 25 degrees.

Coming up at seven o'clock this morning.

We're talking about the little mermaid, the latest production of the Racine Theater Guild.

Duginson is the artistic director and manager of the Racine Theater Guild.

It's going to be here with us.

We'll talk about that.

Hey, ever wish your cat or dog can talk.

Let's talk about your cat right now.

These are the top things your cat would probably say if you're cat you talk.

If I haven't catch that laser dot, it's dead.

Have fun at work today.

I'll just be here plotting your death.

I want to cut.

That's good.

I want to cut off what you made off that YouTube video of me playing the piano.

Ah, cool.

Put the goldfish on the table.

I can reach there.

That's a great idea.

Would you like a bird skull or a mouse tail for your birthday?

I'm allowed to eat all I want and sleep all day because I'm a cat.

What's your excuse, fatso?

And finally, why do I use the litter box when I just found this perfectly good slipper to use?

That's good.

That's good.

Lindsay Lohan at one time was supposed to have her own talk show on television.

And they put some restraints on her.

They told him she could she could not talk about the following.

Paracelton, her past arrests, drug and alcohol use, her family or her dating life.

You know all the stuff you want.

Lindsay Lohan to really talk about.

She couldn't talk about any of that stuff.

And therefore she skipped on the TV show.

Never had it.

A woman in Washington fishing posed for a picture with a small octopus on her face.

The octopus bit her, poisoned her.

She wound up in the hospital in pain.

She says not a good idea.

Who knew octopuses or octopi?

Octopi?

Who knew they can bite you?

A fisherman in Florida was attacked by a shark but miraculously saved with a boat of nurses just after passing by.

What are the chances of that happening?

You're in dire straits and a boat of nurses.

I guess a boat of doctors and surgeons would have been good too.

A boat of nurses just can float and buy.

That's pretty good.

67% of people admit they've intentionally done a bad job on a chore just so they can get out of doing it again in the future.

I don't know if I've ever done that on purpose.

I'm trying to think.

No, I don't think so.

I think I just do a bad job on chores.

I didn't think I did it on purpose though.

There's an app called Gapper.

Gapper.

It sets up couples with huge age gaps.

For example, if the guy is 67 and the girl is 37, Gapper.

All right.

Or vice versa.

Here are some things to ponder.

All right, you're ready for this.

No one ever called a friend and said, where are you until cell phones because they had to call on a landline,

which means you knew exactly where your friend was.

This is interesting.

You're right elbow has never been touched by your right hand.

Now everyone's trying it right now, right?

I know you are.

Yeah, you can't touch your right elbow with your right hand.

It's never been done before.

The entire population of the planet Mars is robots.

Everything in the entire universe is or is not ice cream.

And we'll never hear about the truly perfect crime.

They would say, all they committed the perfect crime.

No, if they committed the perfect crime, you didn't hear about it.

All right, times are moving on.

You know, I used to...

I used to...

When I talked to my grandparents, they said, well, in my day, we didn't do that.

In my day, we didn't have this.

In my day, it was a nickel to go to the movies.

You got a dish.

You got a movie.

You got a free ice cream, whatever.

Things change.

Even for me, in my lifetime, things have really changed.

Traditional skills are dying out.

Reading a map.

You know, it's hard to believe, but I traveled halfway across this country

by myself with a map.

That's all I had.

A paper map in the car.

And if I wanted to read it, I had to pull over to the side of the road

and say, okay, my turn is coming up.

Using a compass.

Now, people still do, but it's on your phone.

There's a compass in the upper right-hand corner of the map.

So you do still use it.

Tie knots.

Formatting a letter.

Building a fire.

You know, when I watch Survivor, and these people have to build fires,

most don't know how to do it.

Now, you figure you're coming on the TV show Survivor.

You take a course from the Boy Scouts on how to start a fire.

And of course, good penmanship.

Nobody writes anymore.

Everything it's typed on your phone or on your computer.

Who writes?

My penmanship is never that great anyway.

But still,

the average person spends one third

of their run.

This is people who run, you know, jog and stuff run.

Thinking about how much running sucks.

40% of that time goes to thinking about pace and distance.

28% goes to enjoying the scenery and letting your mind wander.

But one third, 33% of the time,

we're running and say, this sucks.

You know, well, I used to walk the dog every day on the lake front.

And I used to force myself to do it sometimes.

I didn't feel like walking, but I used to force myself to do it.

I said, this is, I don't want to do this.

You know what?

I miss walking my dog now because he's not there anymore.

I wish I can walk take my dog for a walk this afternoon.

We used to walk on Thanksgiving morning.

And we walked the same spot.

We used to walk on the lake front.

And there's some reads and kind of a woodsie area.

And every Thanksgiving, we used to go through the woodsie area

under trails and walk around on Thanksgiving morning.

Yeah, I missed that yesterday.

So when I walk on the lake front now,

I don't do it every day, but when I do it,

it's sad for me because I'm looking at the parts

where I used to walk the dog sit on the bench with the dog.

It would make it worse.

I looked down the hill and I could see the bench where I used to sit

with my mom when I used to take her to the lake front

because she used to love looking at the beach and the sand

and we used to watch people play volleyball.

But the best part, my mom and I used to watch

with all these people on a hot day,

schlepping all their chairs and all the coolers

that they brought with them.

And they had to walk all back with these coolers

and beach chairs and blankets and umbrellas.

Yeah, but I could see both benches.

I sit on the bench where I used to have the dog with me

and I looked down the hill.

There's the bench where I used to sit with my mom.

So yeah, it sucks sometimes.

The average person, oh, with the guy,

I'll skip that story for now.

This is an odd but true.

And this is true.

Red Lobster once ran an only can eat crab promotion

back in 2003.

I think I remember that.

They wound up taking a $3.3 million loss

because they seriously underestimated

how much people can eat.

I guess that happens with the phase.

And I've read stories before

where they've kicked people out of the phase

because they're eating too much food.

There's an episode of The Simpsons

where Homer's just eating way too much shrimp

and they want them out.

And he said, I'm not leaving.

It's an all-you-can-eat buffet.

And I'm not done eating.

So I don't know how they can kick you out of a buffet.

It's an all-you-can-eat buffet.

I guess they don't want you sitting there all day

reading a newspaper and saying,

all right, I'm ready for round two.

Buzzfeed ran a survey asking people

which foods they will and will not eat

after they drop them on the floor.

I'm not going to confess to anything

I drop on the floor and eat.

But 95% will eat a cookie if they drop it on the floor.

49% will eat a piece of pizza.

I guess if it's not face down,

if it's face down on the floor,

I guess you can't eat it.

6% will eat spaghetti that fell on the floor

and 4% will eat an ice cream cone

if it fell on the floor.

That's got to be messy.

That's got to be terrible.

All right, with all the millions of celebrities out there,

this is kind of surprising.

A list of celebrities who lost all their money.

After they got famous, Michael Jackson.

Had no money when he passed away.

Nicholas Cage.

He talked about being broke many times.

Bert Reynolds, another guy who lost everything.

Kim Bassinger and Gary Coleman.

Gary Coleman, before he passed away,

there's nothing wrong with this,

but it's just it's kind of odd when you know

Gary Coleman, who was the star of one of NBC's biggest shows ever,

lined up as a security guard

at a building.

Because he had no more money left.

He had to say to yourself,

they must have made millions of dollars.

What did they do with all that money?

Bert Reynolds.

One of the biggest stars in Hollywood.

What did he do with all that money?

Michael Jackson.

What did he do with all that money that they wanted to broke?

They don't tell you that part.

From the hard to believe file,

someone in Australia tried to staple a poster

to a telephone pole by doing so.

They knocked out power to 1,000 people.

What they do, nail it right to the power line.

I don't know how the telephone poles in Australia were,

but they probably nailed it to the power line.

That's kind of weird.

How long does it take for the L word,

the love word to make it into a relationship?

Study found.

Man, I'm more likely to say I love you first.

The average guy says,

takes him 107 days into dating compared to 122 days for women.

I can't tell you how long it took for me to tell my wife I loved her.

I tell her every day now,

but I can't tell you how long it took me for the first time.

It's an episode on Seinfeld,

with George tells his girl,

I love you.

And she says,

thank you.

It turns out she had a hearing loss in that ear,

and he thought she couldn't hear.

So he goes back to her,

and it turns out she did hear.

And she said,

thank you.

That happened on two and a half men too.

The girl Charlie's dating says,

I think I love you, Charlie Harper.

And he goes, thank you.

Is that all you have to say?

Thank you very much.

Yeah, the L word.

That comes out as like where's Jerry Seinfeld said on the show.

It's like a big mots of ball out there.

I mean, you got to react to it one way or another.

The L word.

All right.

Got a couple of fun facts for you on this Friday morning.

What was the last movie ever released on VHS in America?

Now, I still watch movies on VHS,

only because I have hundreds of them.

And you know, why a movie's a movie?

I don't care if you show it on streaming.

I don't care if you show it on Blu-ray DVD or VHS or beta.

It's a movie.

And that's what we're watching movies.

I got hundreds of them.

So I still use VHS.

They don't sell them anymore.

The last movie ever released on VHS was a movie called Eragon.

It was in 2007.

Never heard of it.

I'm going to look it up in a second here.

Eragon.

Huh.

Hormel is the company that makes spam.

I happen to like spam, by the way.

A lot of people don't like it, but I like it.

I like it when it's fully cooked.

They hate that the word junk mail or they hate that junk mail is called spam.

So no one in the company works at Hormel is allowed to call it spam.

They have to call it unwanted email.

But we all know what it is.

It's spam.

A survey has people who've cheated.

How they met the person they cheated with.

All right.

Here's what they said.

The most common answer was at work.

But people gave other answers like they met him at the gym.

They met him at church.

And their own wedding.

So you cheated on somebody you met with somebody you met at your wedding.

See, it's not, it wouldn't work for me because I'm the only one in the building right now at this hour in the morning.

So there's no one here.

It's 6.49 at WRJN.

Plenty of sunshine today with 133 degrees, cloudy tonight, cloudy tomorrow.

Maybe some snow showers on Sunday, but cloudy after 12 noon.

I'm Don Rosen.

Thanks for joining us here at WRJN 1,400 AM, 99.9 FM and 98.1 FM as well.

We've got Doug incidents from the Racine Theatre Guild joining us.

A little after 7 o'clock talking about their latest production of The Little Mermaid.

And coming up at 7.30 we'll talk movies with Brett Hoffman.

We'll find out what new movies are opening up this weekend.

And we'll get the box up as top five from last weekend as well.

We'll find out what new movies are opening up this weekend.

We'll find out what new movies are opening up this weekend.

But he wants a guarantee that he won't break out of me.

Oh oh oh oh oh who will go.

Oh oh oh oh who will go.

Oh oh oh oh oh oh who will go.

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh.

Two students for Christmas music?

I don't think so.

Radio stations across this country are playing 100% Christmas music right after like Halloween.

So I don't think it's too soon.

We don't play a lot of it.

Just a little bit up before you this morning.

It is 6.51 at WRG and I'm Don Rose.

And I want to thank the joining me here this morning at Civic Media hometown radio refreshed.

Boss making it miserable.

What would make your job more tolerable?

And I don't always comes down to money.

There are people that say, yeah, I get to tolerate my boss more for an extra $5,000.

Or maybe maybe a new boss.

28% of people would pick the new boss over the money, believe it or not.

Yeah, if your life is miserable, $5,000 isn't going to help you much.

I mean, you got to, you know.

I mean, $5,000, then you got to be miserable all day at work.

I don't think it's going to happen.

Okay, what else we got for you here this morning?

Google did a study on the most hackable passwords.

These were the first, excuse me, these were the worst passwords to use.

Names up your pets, important dates, a family member's birthday, your child's name, and another family member's name.

I was watching, is it a date line or 2020 last week?

And they had a hack into this phone because I think I think this was the phone of the victim.

They had a hack into it to find that information.

Who did they talk to last?

And the person at the forensics lab said, let's try their birthday.

Are you sure enough?

That was their birthday.

It opened up the phone.

People do that.

Mine's kind of complicated because it's got old times of symbols and stuff.

Very difficult to break into mine, but I'm sure someone could do it if they really tried.

The average person spends almost six and a half months out of every year on a diet.

It adds up to approximately 32 years of your life.

Overall three out of four people or adults are unhappy with their weight.

Although four percent are unhappy because they think they need to gain weight.

Don't you hate those people?

I'm too skinny. I need to gain weight.

Milk shakes, hamburgers, hot dogs, brats.

No, not me.

I do a study figure down how much stuff you worry about that comes true.

And the average is 8.6%.

In other words, less than one out of ten things you worry about is worth worrying about.

I'm a warrior.

I'm an anxiety person.

And I think all my things I worry about are things I need to worry about.

One of my pet peeves in life is I check the stove before I leave out.

It's a gas stove.

And I check it and I check it and I recheck it.

And then I take a picture of it.

Make sure the things are up.

But I've been doing that all my life.

I did it when I used to live with my mother.

She said, what are you checking the stove so much?

I said, I don't know what the house to blow up.

It's a gas stove.

And then even when I had an electric stove in the house and brown deer when I used to live there,

I still check the stove over a hundred times.

And now it's worse.

As I get older, I check it more and more.

And I'll stare at the little dials.

And this says off, off, off, off.

They're four burners.

And then I look in the other direction, off, off, off.

Then I'll start to walk out and say, wait a second.

I walk back and I check it again, off, off, off, off.

My wife wouldn't say to me, you know, we're leaving it about ten minutes.

You want to start checking the stove now?

And if I go on a longer trip, I take a picture of it.

So if I ever have any doubts if I check the stove,

I look at the picture on my phone.

Yeah, check it.

There is one time I didn't check it.

And it was on and the pot burned.

It wasn't my fault.

But it, you know, I check those things.

Which is stressful?

Talking about stress.

Which is stressful?

Holiday shopping or back to school shopping?

Believe it or not, more than a third of people said,

it's back to school shopping is more stressful.

Why?

You get a couple of...

He's just a clothing, couple of notebooks.

They still use notebooks?

Yeah, they must still use...

I don't know.

Do they use notebooks anymore?

I don't mean a computer notebook.

I mean like a real loose leaf binder.

They still use that?

They still write in school?

Is it reading computer and arithmetic?

You should be reading writing and arithmetic.

Now it's reading computer and arithmetic, I guess.

This is going to change your approach

to making coffee in hotel rooms for the rest of your life.

You ready?

A photo when viral on Reddit from a guy

who opened the top of the coffee maker in a hotel room

and found a thriving, disgusting mold colony.

He said, you know, it took weeks

if not a month for this ecosystem to develop.

So always inspect the hotel room coffee maker

before you use it.

Now my wife and I don't drink coffee.

But next time I go to a hotel room,

I will check the ecosystem and the coffee maker.

Ah, that's for the heck of it.

Everyone's getting into alcohol-infused foods.

Now this, Ego Waffles has a new decor called

Ego brunch in a jar of sipping cream.

It's 40 proof alcohol seemingly blends

with the flavors of toasted Ego Waffles,

sweet maple syrup and rich butter

with a hint of smoky bacon.

See, I'm not a drinker, but that am I drink?

That's a, that's a decor though, you simple decor.

A six year old from Pennsylvania named Roy Erlich,

won the 2023 Kids Mullet Championship.

And before you laugh at this, check out the cash prize.

$5,000 is going to use it to buy a sister and alpaca.

Not an alpaca sweater, the animal.

The alpaca animal, he's going to buy her.

$5,000 for a mullet, I might grow one.

Odd but true, there's a theme park in Chennai,

India called MGM Dizzy World.

It's not a filly with Disney or Metro-Gwaldon mayor.

It's owned by MGM Mathu Group,

an Indian conglomerate that just wanted to confuse people.

MGM Dizzy World, not Disney World.

It's close.

Ellen, I passed a law which requires parents

to pay their children who they're using to monetize

and online videos.

Say, which they had this when I was a kid.

So if you're trying to go viral with a funny video

of your kid, you better give them a cut of the action.

Officials say the rule is similar to rights held

by child actors.

Who knew?

So if you put your kid in the video,

you're ready to shell out some money.

We're coming up.

Thug incidents from the Racine Theater Guild

is here to talk about the little mermaid.

That's coming up at just a few moments here.

A little after seven o'clock.

We have news from CBS and local news coming up first.

What else we got coming up for?

We have a movie news.

We can tell you a Bret Hoffman's going to tell us

what movies are opening up this weekend at theaters.

We're going to look at how well the movies did last weekend

with the box office top five.

That's all straight ahead.

Sunshine today with a hundred or thirty-three degrees.

It's around twenty-six tonight.

Tomorrow, Claudio is near thirty-seven.

Snow showers before noon on Sunday.

And then Claudio with a hundred thirty-seven.

Right now, twenty-five degrees.

The sun's coming up over the scene.

I'm Don Rose, and you are a WRJN 1400 AM, 99.9 FM.
