With chaos abounding from the national stage, we take this hour to talk history with Harvey Kaye. American history is complex. It's messy. And it's full of contradiction. Harvey urges us to grapple with all that American history contains. The good, the bad, and most certainly the ugly. If we try to paint our history is merely good or bad, we fall into a trap that denies the beauty and potential of this country.

We end our show with something good. Harvey reminds us of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s favorite quote from Thomas Paine, "we have it in our power to begin the world over again." And isn't that the truth?
