Jim, I know we have lots of legal things to get to.

We do.

But

Jim Santel

on

Dom Salvia

days like today, we've

Jim Santel

got to

Dom Salvia

start out with the closing bell.

Let's put it that way.

And it was a bloodbath out there today.

Not a good thing going on.

And I think like even like JPMorgan, one of the big banks came out with a report and they like labeled it bloodbath.

I mean, this is the

Jim Santel

reference

Dom Salvia

to the big banks

Jim Santel

are

Dom Salvia

using.

Great.

Market watch is reporting.

US stocks have had a rough go of it since President Donald Trump was sworn into office for a second term in January.

Oh, do tell.

They did the math.

So I don't have to do math on the radio.

Since January 17th, the Friday before Inauguration Day, the U.S.

stock market has seen $9.6 trillion in value erased, according to data from FACSET and Dow Jones market data.

Of those losses, of the $9.6 trillion since Trump's inauguration, $5 trillion have been erased in just over the past two days.

The largest two-day loss on record.

Breakin' records, yo, makin' America great again.

Breakin' records.

James Santel

And do you think at some point after, again, the first 24 hours, now 48 hours, someone inside the White House says, again, bloodbath, it is bleeding, it is hemorrhaging, we can also, all the blood terms here, maybe we need to do something to remedy this because it's not getting any, it's getting worse.

Raises once again the question that you and Jess and I have asked repeatedly.

Who is standing around the president?

Is there anybody?

Is there any adult in the room here who is saying, we need somehow to remedy this?

Maybe we've got to swallow.

I realize this is ridiculous when

Jim Santel

it comes to Donald Trump.

Swallow

James Santel

our pride and say, you know what?

That crazy chart where we're not only imposing tariffs upon islands that have penguins on them and nothing else.

All of that.

Let's suspend that and let's restore.

Let's do this.

I've promised people that we're still going to do it if we want to do it, but we're going to do it in a methodical way.

We need desperately to stop this and we can't open on Monday morning.

We cannot open on Monday morning and do more of this.

We just can't, Mr. President.

Jim Santel

Is

James Santel

somebody saying that to him?

Jim Santel

No, that's the problem that in this administration.

Trump, unfortunately, learned some lessons from the first time around that if he put those responsible adults in his cabinet, if he surrounded them, if he allowed them to share their expertise, they would tell him no.

They would tell him things that he didn't want to hear.

So he made very, very sure that this go around.

There was no one like that in the room.

Dom Salvia

Look, people, those penguins.

Terrible people terrible nasty right nasty

Jim Santel

enemy of the people

Dom Salvia

those those penguins nasty penguins

No, there's no adults in the room, man.

Congress, no, technically Congress, if I, I'm no lawyer, Jim, but I'm terrifying like a tax, and tax seems like me, like the purview of Congress, and there are some Republicans who are apparently getting a little, little concerned, but is it too late?

James Santel

It is not basic fundamental notion.

The Congress is where, what, where the budget comes from, right?

James Madison said that all the budget bills, they start in the House of Representatives, they're the ones that are representing the people, right?

They

Jim Santel

put this

James Santel

together, it goes over to the Senate.

They go back and forth, they've got some reconciliation, ultimately goes to the president to sign this whole process there, but it begins on Capitol Hill.

And yes, indeed, while the president does have an awful lot of responsibility when it comes to international matters and foreign affairs, you look at section, at Article I, and all the sections of Article I, there's a huge amount of responsibility vested in the House of Representatives and the Senate to do foreign affairs, including things.

relate to finances.

And so the Congress wants to introduce, if Mike Johnson decides, well, again, this isn't going to happen, right?

But hypothetical, that's not going to happen.

Number two, that they need to do something and they should.

They should.

And they get together and they say, we need to usurp this field.

And frankly, past legislation, maybe Donald Trump won't sign up.

We've got to do something to send a message to the American people at a minimum.

We're having no part of this.

And maybe just

maybe that'll give the president if he does decide if he gets some some modicum

Jim Santel

amount of

James Santel

honor and decency sign something the point is yes the Congress once again should be acting and they're not they're not

Dom Salvia

not one bit.

Wall Street Journal reporting 2200 point drop in Dow ends brutal week for stocks blue chips enter

correction as NASDAQ SMP plunged nearly 6% as the Wall Street Journal puts it, more than six trillion erased from the market in two days.

And according to market watch, that's a record.

Congratulations.

Trump administration didn't think you had it in you.

James Santel

and do not mean to turn this all into legal or court issues, but the impacts upon this, we can draw lines from this to so many things

Jim Santel

in

James Santel

America, including its impact upon, yes indeed, pending litigation, court claims, all kinds of things, not just bankruptcy court, but if you think about it, we'll talk a little bit, I think about the opportunity to remedy things through money in just a minute,

Jim Santel

another

James Santel

story is

Jim Santel

coming

James Santel

up, but the implications are not just financial.

they are across the board and they affect human beings, they affect

families in America, it may

Jim Santel

not have

James Santel

hit you quite yet, but it may well by next week at this time by Monday and Tuesday, you may find that your own financial status has been compromised.

Dom Salvia

Well, I mean, it certainly has.

And again, and talk to early yesterday, you know, not everyone's in the market, you know, certainly we can, we can appreciate that.

And, uh, and those folks maybe won't feel the pain until like, you know, it hits, it hits the stores,

Jim Santel

you know, and it

Dom Salvia

hits a Walmart and all of a sudden those goods that you're going to these places to buy less expensive goods become

more expensive because this is by purpose.

This is what Trump wants.

He wants to end these things.

And so there's a repercussion for that.

But there's no question the value is going down.

Now, do we go another 5% Monday, 5% Tuesday?

We'll see.

And this is above and beyond a pretty good jobs record for the last month.

Blowing way past expectations.

And normally, I think we're far enough in.

Yeah, those are the jobs now.

This is Trump's economy.

Those are his job numbers.

And those were good numbers.

And still, given

that great news on jobs, the market still did what it did today.

James Santel

And this may also be an opportunity for the American public.

Well, similarly to wake up and say, you know what?

All these statements about how Donald Trump inherited this absolutely positively disastrous economy from

Dom Salvia

Joe Biden.

James Santel

Yeah, come on.

Can we now say, no, no, this is a disastrous economy.

This is what that looks like.

And let's just give you some basic statistics about what Joe Biden's economy looked like.

Let's compare them four months later.

You'll see a huge difference.

Dom Salvia

Well, what we see now is almost a $10 trillion reduction in.

the markets since Donald Trump's inauguration, Beijing, China, responding.

Also the Wall Street Journal, they would hit all US goods with an additional 34% tariff starting Thursday, matching the level, the White House latest tariffs on Chinese import.

So now the tit for tat starts.

Here we go.

And, and, and again, what, what, what's going to be impacted the most and certainly our agriculture, you know, they use a lot of soybeans over there.

We make a lot of those here.

What happened last time?

Well, Donald Trump just opened up the spicket from some new deal era.

and it was able to just fork over.

What 30 almost 30 billion dollars to the farmers because of his last trade war so you know We're gonna be in the situation where our exports are gonna be dinged they're gonna go down GDP is gonna what maybe get flat maybe start going into Recession prices are gonna go up interest rates are gonna stay the same at least they are right now There's another issue we have going on that sounds a whole lot like steak flation to me and that's never ever ever good Jim Santel it is it

James Santel

is certainly not and We've also seen this before the other the two other major times when we had dramatic

tariffs in the country.

What happened afterwards?

Gee, I think that's the thing called depression,

Dom Salvia

right?

Exactly.

Come on, but I mean, Trump was out there like literally anti-history-ing.

He was saying, no, this is what fixed it

James Santel

all with

Dom Salvia

the

James Santel

tariffs.

Just the opposite, Mr. Trump.

Just the opposite.

And we've seen this again, separated by about 100 years or so.

When we try to do this on this macro scale, it has been disastrous for the economy.

Again, I recognize our Treasury Secretary is bought into this hook line and sinker

Dom Salvia

as well.

Headlines are saying he might be hitting the exits.

Is that right?

Okay, all right.

James Santel

He was still, as of two days ago, he was still sort of announcing the Trump agenda here, but you had to believe that he too privately was thinking, ooh, this is not good.

Not surprised if indeed he's thinking, I need to get out of here now.

Again, he is an intelligent person.

Why is it that you can't...

compromise your soul, your integrity to advance this kind of thing.

Maybe now as you're telling me down that, that T's recognize this is a ship I've got to get off of a little bit late, a little bit late, right?

Where have you been?

Where have you been?

Dom Salvia

Uh, the raw story reporting, uh, I guess on this that, um, let's see.

So Stephanie rule was on MSNBC.

She says that, uh, her sources say that Scott a percent is a kind of an odd man out here.

The inner circle of Trump has now been close.

No one, he's not even close to Scott Besant or listening to him, she told Scarborough.

Some have said to me he's looking for an exit door to try to get himself to the Fed because in the last few days he's really hurting his own credibility in the history of the markets.

I mean, who would want to be that guy?

But he took the job, man.

I

Jim Santel

mean,

Dom Salvia

he had to know what was coming up.

What do you think he's going to do?

Trump's going to, he's been talking to tariffs.

This is what he wanted to do.

And congratulations, everybody.

This is what you got.

And it's not making prices, those price of eggs, that's not going down.

That's not going to make it go down.

Things are going to go

James Santel

up.

A person, again, confirmed by the United States Senate.

And during the course of that, talk about articulating the Trump vision economically.

Even when you watched him, you had to think,

Dom Salvia

really, do you

James Santel

think you've been successful here on Wall Street?

Do you really believe that?

Dom Salvia

Is that how it works?

Is that how you made your money, man?

I don't think so.

James Santel

Please

Jim Santel

don't

James Santel

teach any economics courses in

Jim Santel

any

James Santel

major academic institution in this country because you're going to provide an awful lot of very bad historical information and present macroeconomic and microeconomic information.

Dom Salvia

He knows better.

He knows better.

Well, the guy in eastern, Donald Trump continues to...

attempt to rewrite history in all sorts of ways.

And this is the most recent way.

And, and to tell you what, if you're a Megan, you don't know anybody listening to Donald Trump, you don't think, oh, yeah, that's great.

That sounds right.

That sounds right.

We'll take some all of a sudden, they're all like, well, we'll take higher prices as long as we what

Make sure the gays can't get married.

Right.

Just wait for a little while.

It's gonna be a little bit tough for a while, but we'll come out of this.

Two weeks, two weeks.

Yeah, we're coming out with an ACA replacement in two weeks.

And then good prices on eggs.

It's infrastructure week here on the Dom Salvia Show.

Today, James Santel joining me here, former U.S.

Attorney, host of Amicus, a law review on Saturdays, 9 to 11 a.m., right here on the Civic Media Radio Network.

JustP.S.

is working hard on the phones and on the board.

We have a guest coming up next segment, Ajak Johnson, a representative for Hands Off.

Now, often we've seen there's a protest being planned

all over the country and people were sending me stuff.

I'm like, what is this all about?

So I dug a little bit, reached out kind of some back and forth and we're going to have a representative from the organization talking to us, tell us what it's all about, where you can go and all that.

So stick around for that for the next segment.

Right now, talking about the calamity that is happening to the market.

I mean, Donald Trump was so concerned, he went golfing.

So it's totally fine.

And he's going golfing, I think, and specifically, the Saudis paying him for the golf thing he's doing.

And why wouldn't they?

Why should we

James Santel (guest)

expect anything other than that?

You know, the whole golfing issue too, for every president, it can be a true red herring in a time like this.

You just don't want to be out there, right?

And it's not to say that every human being including the president of the United States of America has an opportunity to be with family, enjoy things recreationally.

Every president has done that.

They most often have a dog, those kinds

Dom Salvia (host)

of things.

James Santel (guest)

This president does not.

But in a time of crisis and this is crisis.

Dom Salvia (host)

He created the crisis.

So it's not really a crisis for him, more of a crisis for you.

You know what I mean?

Absolutely.

And

James Santel (guest)

that image of him swinging the golf club in that athletic forum that he is in is one that, again, I would like to think that at least his publicity people are not crazy about right

Dom Salvia (host)

now.

He is his publicity people.

He doesn't give a damn.

And literally some of the reporting people are saying he doesn't care.

I mean, old rich guy doesn't care.

Doesn't care.

And it's not great to have someone in that position of power who doesn't care.

Right.

We anticipate at

James Santel (guest)

least that a president has compassion, right?

And that we elect people that we'd like to think, yeah, we have partisan views, political perspectives on things, but care about human beings.

That's number one.

We tend, with some notable exceptions, to elect people who are nice people that we maybe want to, maybe not be politically aligned with, but we'd like to have dinner with them.

have a beer with them, but

Dom Salvia (host)

capable people.

The personalities are different, backgrounds are different, all those things, but capable is someone I'm looking for in these kind of positions.

James Santel (guest)

A basic level of competence, a basic understanding about how government works.

I am still convinced that the president has never really appreciated

anything related to he gets this idea that yes there's that big white domed building up there on the hill and there's some folks at a castle like looking building beyond the parking lot there and they seem to say some things from time to time and I can I can put people there who say things that will be will be supportive of me but in terms of the actual management of things it's just stunning that we've got a president who himself is not competent and has not bothered has not bothered in again ten years now to understand the

basics of how

Dom Salvia (host)

government.

Well, there's no general curiosity, because I got like that, thinks he knows it all.

He's already got it all figured out.

And it's everybody else who's woken and trying to get on board with his, you know, philosophies, eight, five, five, seven, five, two, four, eight, four, two, get to it.

Mark, from the sack, you're up.

Welcome.

What do you got for us?

Mark from the sack (caller)

Yeah, well, it's gonna be missing you, Dom.

Thanks,

Dom Salvia (host)

man.

Mark from the sack (caller)

The one thing I'm, I'm, I'm the thought that I had if Trump wants to avoid complete humiliation here.

he only simulated himself grandly here.

He could give Congress, he could make a few calls and give some Congress people on the House side permission to overturn, to seize control of the tariff powers.

And Congress could take their responsibility as they're supposed to be responsible for

Unknown speaker

the tariff policy.

Mark from the sack (caller)

And then there would be out of Trump's hands.

I mean, Trump is not going to do that and he's going to crash the economy and not even in a still Biden's fault or Barack Obama's fault or

It's

Dom Salvia (host)

the tan suit, Mark.

It was always, it's all been downhill ever since the tan suit.

Thanks for the comment.

I always appreciate you listening to this fine program.

Appreciate you, Mark.

The, the president is going to crash this economy if this continues on this way.

I mean, come on, you can't, you cannot sustain this.

This is not, this isn't, there's no upside to this.

If this goes on, you know, next week, we're going to see some, some, some real bad things at some point below Congress, perhaps if their constituents get riled up enough, you know, we, again, we have these hands off rallies going on around the country.

People are fired up.

Well, this isn't helping this administration's cause this short term pain sooner or later, folks can get really riled up and they're going to continue to

Pound on the doors of the Republican representatives and those folks are gonna have to make a decision Are they're going to stay loyal?

To Donald Trump or they're gonna actually serve the will of their constituents because I'm pretty sure those constituents didn't sign up for even if you voted for Trump This is wasn't what your expectation now.

Maybe you should have seen a comment I hate to tell you we told you so because telling you we told you so doesn't do any good But you should know that we did tell you so exactly

James Santel (guest)

and we've had these wonderful protests here in Wisconsin around the nation and a lot of that's been focused on these this flurry that's

understanding it dramatically, of executive orders, everything from social security and shutting down USAID and domestic funding

Dom Salvia (host)

and

James Santel (guest)

citizenship, access for Musk to get into the Social

Mark from the sack (caller)

Security

James Santel (guest)

Treasury Department.

Again, we can go on and on.

And all of those things are legitimate and they're a good basis to get out there and scream at the top of your lungs.

Now we have this additional overlay for tomorrow around the nation to say, in addition to trying to change government, to crash government in every way to shut down offices.

and to stop the basic functioning that's supposed to support people in America now we're affirmatively kicking them, not just in the shin, but frankly undermining their very ability to exist economically.

And that's when, to the extent that people always said, you know, sorry, it's about the economy, stupid, right?

That's the mantra that's been out there.

If people were voting for their...

paycheck there.

There are dollar dollars in the past, which is what the some of the pundits say.

Here it is.

Here it is.

How did that work out for you?

Right?

And it's not just a matter of I told you so, which is a significant

Dom Salvia (host)

reason for being out there.

James Santel (guest)

But also, what do we do now?

What do we do

Dom Salvia (host)

now?

What is what is what is the next every day is a new opportunity, Jim?

Right?

Tomorrow, hands off rallies taking place in more than 1000 cities across all 50 states nearly 400,000 people have signed up to attend them.

Ajax Johnson from hands off rally going to

Join us next to Karam.

Dom Salvia

And welcome back to the Dom salvia show eight five five seven five two four eight four two James Santel former U.S.

Attorney joining me today until six o'clock just ps always on the board as mentioned prior to the break hands-off rallies taking place more than 1000 cities across 50 states nearly 400,000 people have signed up to attend them and we have a representative and organizer from

Hands off Ajek Johnson.

You are a welcome to the doubles that to the top sell yourself.

Hey Ajek welcome.

Thank you for joining us.

How you feeling today?

Ajek Johnson

You know, I'm feeling a lot of excitement.

I'm

Dom Salvia

feeling a

Ajek Johnson

lot of excitement, you know, we're really going through a lot and time goes on and a lot of people been going through a lot for a lot of time.

But, you know, I'm really excited to see Wisconsin gather tomorrow and Wisconsin use its voice and Wisconsin get together and I want to see Wisconsin stand up.

So, you know, I kind of feel, you know, like right before you eat a meal that you're really excited about, just that energy kind of courses through you.

That's how I'm feeling today.

Dom Salvia

I've been, as I mentioned on air here, I've been getting hit up from different folks, family and friends about, you know, this, this, these organizing and these protests coming up.

And so I started kind of poking around the internet was trying to find like, who is this and where are these people?

So now that we got you here, Jack, what, what, what started this protest?

What's the organization all about?

And where did it come from?

And what are we trying to

Ajek Johnson

accomplish?

I'll tell you that there's a lot of different organizations that have stepped up to the front of this.

And more than a bunch of different organizations, there's a lot of different people who've stepped up to the front of this,

Jess on the board

right?

Ajek Johnson

Just everyday people who found out maybe they were driving on their way home from work and saw people on the side of the street and they wanted to stand up and step up.

So I'm one of them.

I'm one of the people.

I do my organizing with 50501.

It started on the internet.

One day someone said, let's all have a bunch of protests.

And it's continued on since.

So a lot of people are gathering.

And I'll tell you what, every, like you've been saying, they're all over the United States, but they're also across the world.

People have been pouring out in Canada and over in Europe.

And even there were a couple down in Turkey that

came out and really stood up.

And every demonstration is so unique because every location is so unique.

What I can tell you about Madison is there's a lot of people, some of us are from five year five zero one, some of us are from different individual groups.

There's a lot of different unions that have stepped up that are going to stand up and speak tomorrow.

And there in Madison, we really want to focus on the community building, you know, it's

I don't mean to be the voice in the corner saying negative things, but just looking at the patterns, things are going to get worse before they get better.

So if we can build our community connections and we can prepare to step up to the place and the places where the government's pulling back from it.

we can stand up for the things that are protected.

I mean, due process, human rights, human dignity, all of these programs that we've got, stand up and tell the government, hands off, we're protecting these while at the same time taking a very hands-on approach to making sure that our communities are taken care of, our children are taken care of, our neighbors are taken care of.

James Santel

Hey, Jack, this is Jim Santel.

Glad to have you with Dom and me and Jess today.

It's delightful and terrific to hear about your plans for tomorrow.

You have already talked about the community aspect of this, bringing everybody together.

Even so, I suspect an awful lot of people are going to show up around the country tomorrow, around the world tomorrow.

They have their individual advocacies, right?

I'm upset about social security.

I'm upset about the fact the president has said that transgender people can't be in the military.

I'm upset about the fact that the arts are being compromised, that USAID is no longer there.

All these kinds of education.

Talk to us a little bit about the challenges of bringing together.

Again, people who are like-minded, but each of whom or maybe many of whom have independent reasons for being there and getting them.

I suspect this may not be a big task to reach across, if you will, and say that issue is my issue too, even if it doesn't affect me dramatically right now, right at this time.

Ajek Johnson

Well, I'll tell you what, the metaphor that I always use is the backpack.

We're all going on the same journey and we all have different things in our backpack and we all have different reasons why we're showing up.

We've been around, this nation's been around for 250 years now, for a little bit more, a little bit less, I can't exactly remember.

But we've got a lot of things that are just in the back pocket that have not been addressed, whether

It's the ongoing war in Gaza, whether it is social security.

Social security has been a big question for a long time, over 100 years.

Education has been a really big thing.

School violence has been rising.

But we also have a lot of different marginalized communities in the United States who, no matter if it's red or whether it's blue in office, still get left behind, even in Wisconsin.

We have a huge incarcerated population.

that we've really got to step up with.

So I think that what we've really been offered here is an opportunity to all step up and say, okay, well, clearly nothing's going to get done unless we do it together.

I don't think that we've had, that there's a lot of good leaders in the state of Wisconsin.

Wisconsin comes up with a lot of good leaders and there's a lot of good leaders that are really guiding their people to come and

usually, you know, we don't got a list.

We do not have a list of things that were anti, you know, because by being pro things, by being pro democracy, by being pro human rights, by being pro competitive markets, whatever we want to be, right, pro community, by having that democracy there, all of the things that we need will come out of the woodworks or something that

We've had these events in the past and they've had hundreds of people.

They've had a very good turnout, but now we're expecting thousands in Madison, right?

And this messaging shift really to, we've got to do this together.

We've got to step up.

And right now we don't have a table where we all can speak at, you know?

So we've got to earn our voice.

And as we collect, we do that.

And I think that something that people...

either understand before they get there or learn very quickly when they get there is that the community is just so vibrant and so nice to have other people to walk with along this journey to make a better world.

And I think that it's been really easy, especially with the different organization leaders or different union leaders, to follow this message that we've been able to craft with Wisconsin's March Forward tomorrow.

Dom Salvia

Folks you're listening to the Dom Salvi show that is a Jack Johnson.

She's with an organizer with 50 51 one of the organizations participating in the hands-off rally tomorrow along with indivisible ACLU League of Women Voters Planned Parenthood Action Fund and others the Hill has a write-up on this and they declare that the protesters have three main demands and end to the billionaire takeover and rampant corruption of the Trump administration and end to cuts in federal funding to Social Security Medicare and other programs that working

people rely on, and an end to attacks on immigrants, trans people, and other communities.

Ajek, we had an election earlier this week in Wisconsin.

Justice now, soon to be Justice Susan Crawford, won over the money of Elon Musk and the billionaire influence and the rampant corruption as I would

call it when you have a guy like that offering million dollar checks to people who vote the way he thinks you should vote.

I think there was a pretty good pushback.

Crawford won by over 230,000 votes.

Do you read anything into that?

And what do you think that portends for the future, Ajax?

Ajek Johnson

Well, you know, what I read into that, like, I think that there's, there was definitely a lot of money that flew in.

which is flying into that election way

Dom Salvia

more

Ajek Johnson

than it should have from both sides, but especially from Elon Musk.

And we, like this message of get out of our business, get out of our business didn't work, right?

The demonstrations against this interference didn't necessarily work.

What really

turned this election out for Susan Crawford, with people coming together and saying, this is the future that we want.

These are the things that we want our court to be in line with our constitution and stand up for the law.

And a lot of different people felt very compelled to do that.

And I know it can be very overwhelming looking at election results in the way that they swing one way or another.

But I think that the big read from the election is, well, there's two big reads.

The first one is that Wisconsin's not for sale.

And I hope that the nation is listening.

And I hope that the nation is watching.

And I hope that it has its eyes on Madison tomorrow.

because what it's going to learn is that they don't have to be for sale either, right?

Florida does not have to be for sale.

Montana does not have to be for sale.

And I think that Wisconsin has done a very good job showing that example and paving that light.

Secondly, I think it shows the power of what happens when we come together and organize.

There were people who were putting in 17, 18 hour days canvassing for Susan Crawford up in Green Bay when Elon Musk tried handing out his million dollar checks.

as frivolous as that was.

There were more people outside than there were inside.

But it was that physical action.

It was blocking people from getting into that event.

It was the canvassing.

It was talking to neighbors, creating community events, doing these demonstrations that show that it takes more than your voice to take action.

And I think what two-stage elections showed us is that Wisconsin's got what it needs.

to fight for what it needs.

And if you're not a fighter, that's okay, but to build, right?

And I don't think that there's any clearer moment.

And I really hope that people are celebrating this, even if they didn't like the other elections.

And, you know, people are diverse and people will support Crawford, they will break from Crawford, whatever.

But I think what we really need to take away from this is that when we try,

We can pull it off.

And who knows where we could go from here?

There's all these funding cuts are happening.

We're going to need to support our communities.

We're going to need to support our children.

And Wisconsin on Tuesday showed that it has every capability to do it.

So now the question is no longer, if we can, it's when we will.

Dom Salvia

A. Jack Johnson from 5051, an organizer being part of the Hands Off protest going on.

across the country tomorrow.

I'm just looking at the map and folks, you can check them out online, handsoff2025.com.

You can go hit, click on the title, find an event.

It brings you to a mobilized.us map.

And it shows you, and I'm looking at the state of Wisconsin right now, Ajek.

And it's gotta be.

20, 30 different protests going on on the Southeast and Jamesville.

Of course, you mentioned Madison, the cross, the Fox Valley aerial, Claire up North, uh, uh, Ryan Lander.

I mean, it's, it's, it's all over the place.

I, I mean, it's, it's great to see.

Um, we just got a few minutes left in, in this segment age.

I want to get your thoughts for people that aren't very politically inclined.

to show up at an event like this, they're hesitant to do so.

How do you approach folks that are probably would be better off involved in letting their feelings be known and dealing with some of these challenges that we have as a society that don't really want to engage because of whatever hangups or reasons are in their head?

How do we get that engagement in your opinion, Ajek?

Ajek Johnson

Well, the first thing that I'll say to those people is find me after the events done tomorrow.

I could use some non political people.

Jess on the board

And

Ajek Johnson

I mean, like, but that really is the thing, you know, Don, that really is the thing.

Because at the end of the day, we're all going to work.

We're all cooking.

We're all dropping kids off at school doing whatever we need to do.

So there are a lot of people, especially with the wages, but some people are making nowadays.

It just don't have time for politics.

And

One

Dom Salvia

of

Ajek Johnson

the things that we've especially focused on in Madison is like, this is life, right?

Especially for anyone who receives federal services, anyone who works with any organization, which it's a lot of organizations, food pantries, even grocery stores that receive government contracts to do good for their community.

So if you're not politically inclined, what I would say is don't bring out a sign with a political message.

Bring out a sign that think about something that you value and put that on a sign and come step out.

Like this is a pro-democracy rally.

This is a pro-community rally.

This is a pro-equality rally, a pro-human rights rally.

You do not have to be political.

And you know, I extend, I really don't put myself on either side of the aisle.

But for the Republicans in the room who are looking at this administration for the more conservative voters, even if they voted for Trump, what I would say is if you're looking at things and you're saying this ain't right, you know, and it's okay if you don't think that the alternative would have been right either.

It's not about that.

This is not an extended common rally.

You know, this is about democracy, equality.

This is about doing better.

So regardless of who you are, regardless of who you believe,

I would say that this is family friendly, too.

You know, brings your children.

Let this be transformative for them.

Dom Salvia

Ajek Johnson, thank you so much.

Hands off rallies all across the country tomorrow.

Thousands cities across 50 states.

Find yours.

Thank you, Ajek.

Appreciate it.

Folks, come back while the second year calls 855-752-4842.

Welcome back to the Dom Salvia show, eight by five, seven, five, two, four, eight, four, two, eight, five, five, seven, five, seven.

Dom Salvia

Ajak Johnson organizer with 50 51, part of the, one of the organizations helping to promote the big hands off rally tomorrow.

So folks, check it out.

Hands off 2025.com.

Jess will put those in the notes, please.

people want to check it out.

Hands off 2025.com and you can check out, they have a nice little, you know, tab, hit the map.

You can find a map.

A town near you and go check it out.

It's it's it's a lot a lot of people are hitting it as again as the hill is reporting in thousand cities across 50 states and only 400,000 have signed up to attend them that means it'll be more

James Santel

than that so and dom it strikes me to listening to a jack that it's also an opportunity for some education right maybe the small e not books and learning in a classroom but okay i'm concerned about i've got children i'm concerned about

about their education, I heard that Donald Trump is bringing the education department down, right?

Talk with people about that, right?

Figure out what does that sound like, what does that look like, and why is that catastrophic?

You may not know all the details, but a great opportunity, and pick your topic as she was talking about, right?

Dom Salvia

And then

James Santel

also,

Dom Salvia

if you don't know, I like the point, you know, bring something that's not political.

And I thought to myself, well, a scientist's love.

You're going to be mad at that?

Exactly.

James Santel

You know, it's like there's

Dom Salvia

peace.

You know, something like that.

It's something you can't be mad about.

I care for America,

James Santel

right?

Maybe that's too controversial.

How?

What's America?

What's America you're talking about?

Caller

I've gone too

James Santel

far, right?

But that kind of thing, right, that just indicates that we are interested in being normal, natural, and being you who do have some concern about one another.

My sign is going to say normal.

Dom Salvia

You know

James Santel

I'm lying.

Or competence getting back to our earlier conversation.

Don't go crazy, Jim.

Dom Salvia

today's show.

Okay, mattress, singular, not plural, mattress.

You're going to have to hit the mattress after having a great show.

855-752-4842.

Some of you folks maybe didn't listen to the entirety of the show yesterday and you certainly should have because you missed a lot.

I'm going to remind you we're going to get to it in the next hour.

Lots of folks line it up.

This is the last broadcast of the Dom Salvia show.

Jess and I both will be moving on to other endeavors.

This adventure has come to its conclusion and we're going to take some calls and talk about that and have some fun in the next hour.

In the meantime, we'll help take some calls.

Oh, we also at some point when we get a chance.

Judge call the attorney general state of Wisconsin was was slapped down by the judge by the appeals court and by the supreme court Nobody was buying what he was selling.

I find that somewhat problematic.

We'll maybe get into that in the next hour Let's get some callers out there.

Happy Friday to us all eight five five seven five two four eight four two Ali from the north woods.

You are up.

Welcome Ali.

What do you got for us?

Caller

Well First off, I'd like to thank you and Jeff both for

your wonderful shows.

They were a big part of my day.

Dom Salvia

Oh, you're welcome.

Thank you, Ellie.

Caller

I wish you both well in your new endeavors.

Also, I would like to say that there's one of the protests in Spooner tomorrow.

In Spooner, okay.

Yep.

And although I'm not able to get out and protest,

If I could, I would be protesting the political extortion that our president has been using against universities, against their grants.

He threatened Harvard University today, and he's taken away over $500 million in grants and contracts.

to Brown University, not to mention what he's done to the university's flashing in Madison at CalClear.

So those would be the things that I would be protesting if I was healthy enough and able to get out and protest.

James Santel

And Ali, as you're saying, this is no small attack upon these institutions, right?

Hundreds

Caller

of

James Santel

millions of dollars as to them.

And yes,

Caller

they have

James Santel

endowments and they've got big operating budgets.

But that has to come from somewhere.

And again, they rely upon that.

They have been entitled to get it by virtue of applications that they have made.

This is not a matter of the government just doling out money and having to go wherever it is you would like it to go.

It is identified for particular purposes.

And it's for what is for teaching is for education, right?

Dom Salvia

Well, kind

James Santel

of education.

You

Dom Salvia

know, I heard that he took that money away from Brown University and gave it to White University.

But thank you, Ollie, for the very kind words.

And I know you'd be out there protesting.

And folks, if you are in Spooner, I looked it up because you can go to the website, handsoff2025.com.

They can click on the map button, actually the find event button.

And I did.

I clicked on the find event button and I found Spooner was

Wisconsin, the location, the intersection of highway 70 and highway 63 River Street in Spooner, Wisconsin tomorrow noon to 2pm.

They're all over the state.

They're all over the country.

And you folks are going to join us and we're going to wrap up our final hour ever of the Dom Salvia show.

Never had a Dom Salvia show without just PS.

James Santel going to be wrong for the ride as well.

Hope you folks stick around and join us.

Thank you for everything you have done.

Call us up 855-752-4842.

Narrator

Broadcasting across the state of Wisconsin on the Civic Media Radio Network and around the world on the Civic Media app.

This is the Dom Salvia Show.

And now, here's your host, Dom Salvia.

Dom Salvia

And welcome to the Dom Salvia show.

Thank you so much for listening You could be a part as always 8 5 5 7 5 2 4 8 4 2 8 5 5 7 5 civic if you want to be a part you better do it today this hour This will be this is the final broadcast of the Dom Salvia show I am moving on and and just what you got going on.

No, I'm also

Also doing that.

Also doing that.

Also doing that.

And joining us today, James Santel, you can listen to his fine program.

He's sticking around.

He is sticking around.

But only Saturday mornings, right?

Saturday mornings.

That was a part of the deal, right?

Absolutely.

Saturday mornings.

9 to 11 a.m.

James is the host of Amicus A Law Review.

He's a former U.S.

attorney, a really smart guy and a friend of ours, and spent a lot of fun over the years.

Man, thank you for joining us today.

It's been a great pleasure, my friend.

And, you know,

This has been like a Wisconsin goodbye.

It's been going on for

Narrator

a

Dom Salvia

long, long time and the dates have finally come to us and we're going to be fine and we appreciate all the love.

I would say textures and collars and we're going to get to you all.

But I just got to say thank you to the audience.

I mean, for real.

You

Narrator

know for

Dom Salvia

us to sit up here and do our thing it's and we could do this in a bar But people actually join us on the radio here to do this and and I I think we have a good time And I think we talk about things that matter and then I think we have a good time And that's how you know you have a good show so thank you couldn't do it without the audience And we're gonna get to all of you.

It's really a celebration of life.

It's a celebration of you

Jeanie from Eau Claire (caller)

It's

Dom Salvia

a celebration of adventure right and

James Santel

also of legacy

Dom Salvia

The show's dead.

It's dead.

Well, it will be after this.

It will live

James Santel

on.

It will live on.

That's what legacy is all

Dom Salvia

about,

James Santel

right?

Absolutely.

And the investment that your listeners make in this show, also, Dom, the investment you have made in them, just as well.

You're contributing, once again, to education for insight.

That is priceless.

Dom Salvia

Thank you, Jim.

There's certainly truth to that, and I think about this.

You know, when you meet someone and you hang out, you get the connection.

You know, they're always kind of there.

You're always with you, you know, and it does matter.

My parents used to chest as me as a child, hanging on the wrong crowd, you know, that kind of thing.

And now

Jess

you're

Dom Salvia

hanging

Jess

out

Dom Salvia

with a lawyer on Friday

James Santel

afternoon.

Nothing

Dom Salvia

has changed apparently, right?

It's really gone downhill and hang out with a lawyer at five o'clock

Jess

on

Dom Salvia

Friday.

They'd be so disappointed with me.

But, you know, you take, you take everyone to take you, Jim, you know, I take you just our audience members, you know, people I've met over the years.

Everyone at Civic Media and the organizations and the guests and, you know, they all leave a little mark, you know what I mean?

And they're always in your head a little bit.

And that's been great for me doing the show.

over 13 years.

I can't believe I've been doing this over a third.

I've never had a job this long.

So it's a long time.

I just want to thank everyone who's been a part of the show and really been a part of my growth as well.

And there's a lot of growing to do there for real.

I mean, your New Year's resolution was to grow six inches.

So I need results.

I'm working on it.

Now that the show, I got my afternoon's free.

You can focus in.

That's right.

That's right.

I'm doing a lot of stretching.

A lot of weighted hanging apparently at the gym,

James Santel

right?

And apparently that can sometimes work.

It might not be that many inches, but still.

Well, take what I

Dom Salvia

can get.

Right, right.

855-752-4842.

We do have topics to get to, but let's get to some of our callers.

Thank you, callers for playing along.

We'll start with Holly from the Milwaukee, the MKE.

Welcome, Holly.

What do you got for us?

Holly from Milwaukee (caller)

I just want to say I'm going to miss you.

Dom Salvia

Oh, thanks,

Holly from Milwaukee (caller)

Holly.

I also know where to find you.

I'm just going to miss you over the radio way.

But I just want to thank you for everything.

Not only over the radio, are you a great person to talk to, listen to.

It's also out and about.

And yeah, at 13 years, I haven't been in a job that long.

Dom Salvia

I

Holly from Milwaukee (caller)

can't wait to celebrate

Dom Salvia

with you.

We are going to celebrate.

We will do much celebrating.

Thank you, Holly.

Appreciate your very kind words.

I look forward to seeing you around the neighborhood.

You know, that's the thing about me.

You know where I'm going

Narrator

to be.

There's like five or six

Dom Salvia

spots.

Pretty much guarantee I'm going to be there.

And we will celebrate.

We continue to celebrate.

Thank you, Holly.

Appreciate it.

855-752-4842.

Jeanie from Eau Claire, you are next.

Welcome Jeanie.

Happy Friday.

What do you got for us?

Jeanie from Eau Claire (caller)

I hate goodbyes.

I've been listening to you guys for years!

I know!

Really sad, you know, at 70 you just, you know, you hate to lose some of the best things in your life here, so...

I hope someday you'll be back, but I got all those wonderful memories.

You are wonderful, and I hope you have a wonderful life, and you get to do all the things you ever wanted to.

So thank you, Dom, from the bottom of my heart, and Jess, you're outstanding too, just outstanding.

So guys, just keep it up, and remember tomorrow at nine o'clock, please do not miss one of the...

and I better hang up now before I start crying.

Oh,

Dom Salvia

Jeannie.

So much.

Jeannie's been a great listener, a great caller for, for many, many years.

Appreciate you, Jeannie.

Very nice to hear your voice.

Once again, eight, five, five, seven, five, two, four, eight, four, two, eight, five, five, seven, five.

Civic, let's keep going down the line.

Who is next?

Looks like Cam from Appleton, my old stopping grounds.

Hey, Cam, welcome.

What do you got for us?

Cam from Appleton (caller)

Hey guys, um, I started listening to The Devil's Advocate.

It was one of the first shows that I started listening to and it was because you guys had some pretty nice voices and I needed some new music to Spotify shuffle.

Man, that thing sucks.

Over the years, I've listened, over the years, I've listened to you guys and then it's just like the rest of Civic.

It's like, okay, Nate's gone.

Matt Flynn's gone.

Uh, crew's gone.

Uh, Anna's gone.

It's just, it just kept going and going.

And it's like, you know what?

Dang guys, like, it's like playing whack-a-mole.

Like, now I have to find a new show.

I have to find new people to listen to.

But like, otherwise, you know, I, I appreciate the work that you guys put into it.

I.

Loved calling in and talking to you guys and listening

Dom Salvia

each day.

And texting.

Cam.

Sending us the most normal memes.

Narrator

No, Cam.

Certainly.

Dom Salvia

Yeah, man.

Cam will light up the text.

Like, Cam, thank you so much.

I certainly appreciate it.

And listen, this isn't a personal thing with me and Civic or any of that.

I mean, this is just how it is.

This is just a business.

You can't agree on terms and things.

just move on.

That's, and that's fine.

That happens all the time.

We're all adults about it.

I mean, this is, like I said, this has been going on.

This is like the longest Wisconsin goodbye.

And they didn't pull the mic out of me.

You know, I just read the news.

Some, some cat guy let go from TMJ cameras on, uh, boom, done.

This is it.

And over the last couple of weeks, I've seen some folks, some local radio stations, you know, that happens.

It's a, you know, it's unfortunate, but I mean, it goes on and that's what's happening here.

But they didn't pull a mic from me.

They allowed me to just come out here and do the thing because that's what we do because I'm cool.

They're cool.

And we have come on the whole point of civic media and I got to give cruddy a lot of a lot of props for this man.

It was his vision to break carve this thing out of nothing.

Man, I was just talking some smack with my buddy.

That was, it was all about.

And so all of a sudden, all these years later, you see this thing evolve.

And so whether or not it came to this point, you know, people come and go, that, that's going to happen.

That always happens.

Uh, I mean, come on, 13 years doing this.

That's a long time.

As Holly says, she hadn't had a job that long.

And I certainly haven't, like maybe at six years beyond this, and I was part owner of that thing.

So it is, it is, it is special in that regard, but the mission is still there.

The point is still there.

some good conversations and some educations having some fun.

We got some great hosts on this network and I hope everyone still continues to tune in and listen and be a part.

I know I will.

And Dom, I wanted to

James Santel

follow up on something Cam also mentioned and this is going to be serious when several things are probably coming out.

You talked about work and I have known you.

We'll talk more about that maybe in a few minutes for a great number of years.

You and Crudi were the ones who invited me in way back at the time on Brady Street and from the very beginning.

I came to recognize the amount of work that you put into this.

I suspect all your listeners appreciate the fact that Jess and you do not simply show up every afternoon and open up the newspaper or pull up an article or two and then begin to think about what we want to say about those things, pontificate without any preparation.

Your listeners know this.

I simply wanted to reaffirm the amount of industry that you have brought to this.

It shows it is reflected in the intelligent nature.

Yes, the humorous nature as well.

Those things can go together very, very well.

You have invested in this entity.

You will continue to do that as will Jess and all the things you do and acknowledgement and appreciation for the amount of time and effort you have put into this before, during and after these broadcasts.

Dom Salvia

Oh, thank you, Jim.

That's very kind.

And it is a lot.

It is.

It's kind of a lot.

It's a lot.

It is a lot.

And if you do the show, if you have the opportunity, because not everyone does.

And people can do podcasts, and that's fine.

But you know what?

When you radio, that goes off to the universe, man.

The aliens are going to eventually

Narrator

hear this

Dom Salvia

someday.

But it's kind of all-encompassing.

I wake up, and I'm thinking about it.

And you see the news, or you get an alert or a notification.

And it's always on your mind.

It's always in your head.

There's a text

James Santel

from Jim Santel.

Dom Salvia

Someone sending a link to a New York Times article.

No, but that's part of it, because it's not just a job, it's a lifestyle, it's a thing.

And part of that is certainly, of course, the engagement with one of my friends and my co-workers and the audience as well.

And that's going to be the part.

I mean, I'm not going to miss getting up.

There's going to be new habits for me, you know?

And I'm going to have to fill that time, hopefully, productively.

I'm going to spend more time with family.

Oh my

Jess

god, I was loving the Roman coin.

Dom Salvia

855-752-4842.

Thank you, Jim.

Very kind words.

Let's get to it.

LA Tom, you're next.

Welcome, Tom.

What do you got for us?

Tom from LA (caller)

Hey, we've been through a lot together.

Dom Salvia

Oh, yeah.

Tom from LA (caller)

Oh, yeah.

Very, very sad to see this show ending.

And I'm even more sad that I don't think anybody knows how to kick CJ's ass the way you did.

And that's going to be something that's going to be hard to duplicate whoever's taking the spot.

You know, that's what it is, but I would like to say that we, the people ultimately are the government and we must never forget that.

And Jeff, you have been awesome as well.

And just also, I'm actually gotten a little fired up about this whole issue with you guys going and I am going to be starting my own organization.

It's not going to be a for-profit.

And it's not going to be a non-profit or for-profit.

It's going to be a labor of love, which is going to be getmoneyout.net.

And basically what I'm going to be doing is anybody out there in the listening audience that wants to get a hold of me, that knows a little bit more about websites and all that kind of stuff.

I know Cam does.

But we need to get money out of politics.

It's the biggest problem.

We need to restore government back to we the people.

Dom Salvia

Tom always on point always on message.

Thank you, buddy.

Appreciate it eight five five seven five two four eight four two with the people in you coming back more of your calls eight five five seven five civic

I have spent the past two week working my tail

Dom Salvia (Host)

off.

There's a plan.

James Santel, host of Amicus, a law review broadcasting right here on the civic media radio network on Saturdays, nine to 11, eight AM.

He's joining us for the day.

Jim, thanks for sticking around and joining with, you know, I gotta, I gotta tell you when,

whole thing came down on, on the radio show thing and, and you know, the whole crew thing blew up.

That was like Labor Day of last year after the DNC and had some bad broadcast.

Wasn't happy with that whole scene.

So, you know, Civic and I continue to just make a deal, just go forward as this and we'll figure it out.

Like, all right.

Like, Hey, what about, you know, I haven't like, you know, a cascade of

Co-hosts.

I'm like, well, that's a terrible idea.

You know, I was like, come on, man.

I could pull two hours.

But it has been so much fun.

I'm so glad.

I'm so glad I didn't, like, poo poo that whole thing.

And at first I was like, you know how I get just my idea?

What's my first answer and everything?

No.

No.

I'm always a no.

I'm always

Jim Santel

a no.

We've never done that before,

Dom Salvia (Host)

right?

Jim Santel

Let's not try something new.

But in fact, you did.

And it works.

Dom Salvia (Host)

And it's so much fun.

And randomly too, like Harvey K,

Harvey K

our

Dom Salvia (Host)

buddy from Green Bay, a professor, Miss Emeritus of Democracy.

Harvey K

And Justice Studies.

And

Dom Salvia (Host)

Justice Studies.

All of a sudden, it kind of became a regular kind of Monday thing.

Harvey K

And

Dom Salvia (Host)

that's been a lot of fun.

Of course, I did with Maggie Dawn.

We did some overtime.

And in case you had missed it, we kind of go on each other's shows.

And on Wednesdays, Matt Rothschild will come around, man.

And then Earl on Thursdays and Jim on Fridays.

And these schedules kind of came and went and changed, depending on people.

it's kind of been that thing, and it has been an absolute blast to be able to do this, not what Jeff was just, but with all my friends.

You're all my friends, and we were friends before this, we're gonna be friends after this, and that is one of the most joyous things about the job that I will miss the most.

Jim Santel

And it makes for good conversation that does have content to it, right?

And it's a familiarity, right, that also promotes exactly that.

The listeners, as you said before, they bring a huge amount

to this, that conversation also.

And even if the insights and perspectives that they bring to the conversation aren't always yours, ours, mine, that's a good thing too.

And that affirms the power of speech and what radio should be all about.

Well, and it fires up some of the other callers.

Dom Salvia (Host)

855-752-4842, 855-757, taking your calls to the top.

We got a break.

We'll get into some news, but let's do a little some audience love.

We love you, Lindsay from Bayside.

You are next.

Welcome, Lindsay.

What do you got for us?

Harvey K

Hi, Dom.

Steph told me I needed to call.

You guys are going to cancel the baby shower tomorrow.

Dom Salvia (Host)

Well done.

Well

Harvey K

done.

No, you got me through the first nightmare eight years ago.

So I'm just going to call and say thanks, buddy.

Thanks for being my friend on the radio and

getting me through the first time.

Sorry.

I didn't catch up with the second time, but it's going to be an empty spot in my heart for you.

Dom Salvia (Host)

Oh, thank you, Lindsey.

I certainly appreciate

Harvey K

it.

Oh, tomorrow.

Dom Salvia (Host)

Yes.

We will see you tomorrow, eight, five, five, seven, five, two, four, eight, four, two.

Oh, let's keep going on at the original Claire.

You are next.

Welcome.

What do you got for us, Claire?

Hi, Dominic.

Hey, Claire.

Oh, come on.

I'm not dead

Claire (caller)

yet.

I'm

Unknown Speaker

getting better.

Claire (caller)

You know, we went all the way back

Unknown Speaker

to the

Claire (caller)

Heartless Radio days, and we partied together.

Dom Salvia (Host)

We have.

Claire (caller)

And

Dom Salvia (Host)

I'll

Claire (caller)

never forget.

Dom Salvia (Host)

Was it the Atomic Koi across the street in Fishburg from that studio?

Was that where it was?

Claire (caller)

Yeah.

Jim Santel

She says that as if she's got some memories of that place, which we can

Claire (caller)

explore.

Yes.

And I remember finding out Donald Trump won in 2020, excuse me, 2016 at Fox with you and Crudi.

Oh, God.

Dom Salvia (Host)

What

Claire (caller)

a night.

And here we are again.

Dom Salvia (Host)

But you got

Claire (caller)

through it

Unknown Speaker

to

Claire (caller)

support.

Yes.

And I wish you the best of luck.

You and Jess.

Jess is awesome.

You know that, right?

Dom Salvia (Host)

Oh, yes.

Absolutely.

You know, uh, Claire, thank you so much.

I appreciate it.

I'm great to hear your voice again.

I was always wondering what happened.

I

Claire (caller)

got a joke for you.

Dom Salvia (Host)

Okay.

Okay.

All right.

Let's hear it.

Got to send us something

Claire (caller)

good.

One last joke.

Dom Salvia (Host)

All right.

One

Claire (caller)

last joke.

What's the difference between an oral thermometer?

and a rectal thermometer.

Dom Salvia (Host)

Oh man, I got so many things running through my head right now.

Determination.

Claire (caller)

What's

Dom Salvia (Host)

the

Claire (caller)

difference?

The

Dom Salvia (Host)

answer is

Unknown Speaker

the

Dom Salvia (Host)

twist.

I was thinking that, but I'm not gonna say that.

Yup, that was it.

The one time I got Claire's joke, I'm like, I can't say that.

Thank you, Claire.

Appreciate you finding us again, and we'll find you again soon, I'm sure.

855-752-4842-855-755.

So the Kurt from Madtown, you are up.

Welcome, Kurt.

What do you got for us?

Kurt from Madtown (caller)

13 years, huh?

Yeah,

Dom Salvia (Host)

man.

Did

Kurt from Madtown (caller)

you add in the days and months that you were gone?

SPEAKER_??

No.

Kurt from Madtown (caller)

No,

Dom Salvia (Host)

man, you know, I get a little time off once in a while, man, you know.

Kurt from Madtown (caller)

So, you know, it was really nice of that, uh, nice lady to compliment you on how she's going to miss you.

I have the other hand, hope you trip on every other crack in the sidewalk as you walk in Milwaukee.

Why would

Dom Salvia (Host)

you wish for that, Kurt?

Kurt from Madtown (caller)

Well, I think I speak for many.

We're, we're, we're kind of really bummed that you're bringing this to a close, but I wish you the best and.

And, uh, by the way, I've been listening to you since you guys started with, uh, crew.

I want my money back.

Jim Santel

There's a mattress out there that may have your name on it, but that's about the best we can do.

Dom Salvia (Host)

Hey, man, that's a great thing about radio.

It's free to the listeners.

appreciate it, man.

Always a pleasure to see you and hear you.

Hopefully we'll keep in touch all of our audience members.

You know, most of you, you know, I'm on the socials.

I don't know what, I really don't know like all that.

Like what do you do?

Right?

Is there an outlet?

I've had friends of volunteer like, Hey, you need to talk some politics.

I'm here for you because, you know, this is kind of some third.

This is where you get

Jim Santel

along, you know, it's very therapeutic.

Dom Salvia (Host)

Now, now I'm going to be like, you know, the old guy on the soap box in the park

Jim Santel

yelling at

Dom Salvia (Host)

the clouds, but

Jim Santel

we got the

Dom Salvia (Host)

internet.

Thank you everyone.

Come back more of your phone calls, eight, five, five, seven, five, two, four, eight, four, two, eight, five, five, seven, five civic.

Maybe, maybe we'll get to some Josh call attorney general from the state of Wisconsin.

We'll see what happens.

That seems like work.

Dom Salvia (host)

Salvia show eight by five, seven, five, two, four, eight, four, two, eight by five, seven, five, civic.

We all die someday.

Hopefully not today.

Well, the show is going to be dead at the end.

At six o'clock.

That's it.

This is the last live broadcast of the Dom Salvia show, just PS on the board as usual.

And it's Friday.

So James Santel, host of amicus, a law review, a broadcasting here on Saturdays.

in the morning, nine to 11 a.m.

Makes you check out Jim.

Thanks for joining us today.

Maybe we'll get some callers and the textures.

I mean, and that last song, that one goes a long distance dedication, goes out to our pal, Casper.

We sent a very nice text and thank

Jim Santel (host)

you, buddy.

Dom Salvia (host)

I miss you, man.

It's been so much fun meeting everybody.

And Casper been listening from back in the day, day like, like.

OG, like first on at Heartless Radio.

It may have

Jim Santel (host)

been clear

Dom Salvia (host)

channel back then, but that's like you'll see with a capital L, right?

Kester is a ride or die.

Lots and lots of very nice textures.

Am I going to read them all on the radio?

That's what that's why we call.

You call colors always get priority here on the down salary show for the next 24 minutes, eight to five, five, seven, five, two, four, eight, four, two.

Uh, looks like we have Tom from Madison.

You've been holding the longest.

Thank you, buddy.

Welcome.

What do you got for us?

Tom from Madison (caller)

Hey, man, terribly

Dom Salvia (host)

sad.

Tom from Madison (caller)

I mean, going back to, uh, go back to the protest, the uprising, uh, the nights at Hawks, uh, the, uh,

The rotunda, the solidarity thing, all of those things, man.

And coming across you had a polka-fest.

Milwaukee, absolutely incredible.

You guys created this and no one will ever forget.

That is just the best thing that could ever happen to media in Wisconsin.

You lasted longer than Air America.

And what is the question I'm going to miss?

I'm going to miss you.

I'm going to miss Jess.

What is CJ going to do?

Dom Salvia (host)

He'll find a way.

I'm

Tom from Madison (caller)

sure.

Yeah,

Dom Salvia (host)

man.

Tom from Madison (caller)

I don't

Dom Salvia (host)

know.

Who's he going to troll?

Tom, man, thank you so much.

Always great to hear you.

And it is.

You know, we've moved there.

Tom, you know, for a very long time, you know, and you start throwing out some of those things, you know, of course, the uprising and the solidarity, sing along.

Of course, my, my very unconstitutional arrest for just looking like a hippie.

He can't, I mean, man, on a Trump.

I'd probably get arrested again, given what's going on, but it couldn't do that at least back then.

So I had to take them to court and

Jim Santel (host)

we settled.

And it's not only about those memories, but it's also again about the things for the future, right?

Again, as Tom just said, you never forget those things.

There is a wonderful play called The Sum of Us and talks about how we are the products of all the things we've done in our lives at the end.

And again, this is not the end.

Let's be very clear about it, right, Jess?

But we are the sum of the things that have populated our lives and that's who we become, that's who we are.

We are the sum of us, right?

Dom Salvia (host)

Yeah.

And again, this thing, this radio network that's been created, you know, and people have bought into and invested their time and energy and efforts into, and what is the point?

The point is to present, you know, another perspective.

I mean, right wing talk radio has just dominated the state for years.

And I think to a large part, we are paying that price right now.

right now.

And yeah, people like Charlie Seif can roll over to the other side, quote unquote, or you can have some never Trumpers out there.

But you know, in large part, they help facilitate the plant of the seed cord and watered it and let this thing grow.

And now next thing not now you can't get it out of your yard.

And it's an infestation.

Well, at least we have we have something else here, man, we got people that ran reaching out to the the folks that are protesting for this weekend, this hands off protests all over the country.

If those folks wanted to get a message out or had the commerce

and I initiated that.

I was the one being bombarded by friends and family about, hey, what's this protest, what's this protest?

I didn't know, so I reached out and they showed up.

Well, they showed up because we had a broadcast number for them to talk to, for people to talk to, to have this discussion, to tell us about why it's important, why there are protests and what to do and where to go.

Without that, there'd be one more topic that would not be out on the airwaves being discussed.

right now because I doubt they're talking about it on the railing talk radio.

It's

Jim Santel (host)

called the forum, right?

Yeah, right.

For real.

Again, Jim always brings it back to the dorky Supreme Court, you know, the marketplace of ideas, right?

Where you have always welcomed

everybody who wants to call in, and yes, sometimes we'll take them on and we'll explain to them why the legitimacy of their position is not clear, so to speak.

But that marketplace of ideas is what this show has provided.

It is a forum for information sharing.

And again, the value of that cannot be overstated.

Dom Salvia (host)

You know, you can always learn something from everybody.

You can learn what to do.

There's always a lesson.

Like I always told my kids, I am not a role model, eight, five, five, seven, five, two, four, eight, four, two, eight, five, five, seven, five.

Civic John from Madison.

You are next.

Welcome, John.

What do you

John from Madison (caller)

got for us?

Dom Salvia (host)

Oh, man.

John from Madison (caller)

I call it, uh, I call it Dom's liberation

Dom Salvia (host)

day.

I don't know, man.

It goes so well for Trump.

I hope my day ends up better.

I hope I don't wipe off $10 trillion of the economy having tacos and tequila tonight.

I don't know.

We could have a

John from Madison (caller)

lot of

Dom Salvia (host)

tacos and a

John from Madison (caller)

lot of tequila.

Dom Salvia (host)

Libation day, I think

John from Madison (caller)

is what you

Dom Salvia (host)

meant.

John from Madison (caller)

Yeah, man.

Speaking of tacos and tequila, I remember, I remember show, I used to, I used to go to that bar, that Casa de Lara.

Is that?

I remember sitting there with my girlfriend at the time.

And we're just sitting there, mining our own business.

And then all of a sudden I hear this loud, dirty laugh of three, four stools behind me.

And, uh, yeah, sure enough, you and Dom are, uh, sorry, Mikey, my

Mike Crute (mentioned)

crew.

John from Madison (caller)

And, uh, yeah, I went over there and talked to you.

And, uh, yeah, you guys were just like on the radio and you know, pretty down to earth, you know, approachable and getting drunk.

Dom Salvia (host)

Just like on the radio, John.

John from Madison (caller)

Yeah.

Yeah.

So yeah, it's, uh, I've been trying to listen to you as much as I can ever since.

Uh, it's been, uh, yeah, I'm going to miss you.

I'm going to miss you.

Dom Salvia (host)

Thank you, John.

I appreciate it, man.

Again, blast from the past, bringing up costs and all.

So now this was the Mexican restaurant up the street from.

Uh, I heart, uh, in Fishburg and we, we just kind of roll up there after the show.

And that's where we'd have a couple of drinks and then I drive back.

I mean, John, if you recall, man, I was, I was drive was commuting to Madison when we started doing the daily show that, you know, it started out as a hobby with me and cruddy.

I was like, Oh, let's do this.

And I'll be a Saturday, one hour big deal.

I was finding

Jim Santel (host)

it won't change my life.

I won't do this for 13 more

Dom Salvia (host)

years.

That would be extraordinary.

Jim Santel (host)

That will never

Dom Salvia (host)

happen.

I'm not a broadcaster.

Uh, and then next thing you know,

Oh, we, we, we get two hours on a Saturday and then we get the one hour daily.

Not that started changing things, you know, cause even back then we'd have like the greatest capabilities to do this kind of remote stuff like we do now.

I was, I was on the car, you know, just leased a Cadillac back that boy blew that thing up 50,000 miles in one year.

But, you know, that it just kind of evolved.

And at some point we're just like, well, now we're in, you know, now, now that's what you do.

And so it kind of evolved wasn't, wasn't a carefully laid plan.

Let's put it that way.

Jim Santel (host)

And, and, and people who set out to make those carefully laid plans are almost always disappointed, right?

Right?

This is where I'm going to be in five years, 10 years, 15 years.

No, no, right?

I love those interview questions.

What do you

Dom Salvia (host)

see yourself in five years?

Jim Santel (host)

In your seat?

Or are we talking maybe about five days from now?

I can tell you where I'm going, right?

In this, in this world, man, I mean, think about how, how

Dom Salvia (host)

fast things are moving, certainly since Trump's inauguration to where we are now.

And it's the older you get, the faster it goes, man.

Jim Santel (host)

Absolutely.

And there's a certain unpredictability of all of this.

And that's also the joy of life, my friend, right?

That just sometimes you wake up, you hope they're not catastrophic events.

But even those that are surprises to you, they define us, they define you, and they make us better people.

Dom Salvia (host)

As my dad used to say when I was doing.

and doing things that he told me to do that didn't want to do.

It builds character.

It builds character.

Jim Santel (host)

I got a lot

Dom Salvia (host)

of character.

Thanks, Bob.

H55752484285575 Civic.

Another blast from the past.

Gordy Kopke.

Hey, Gordy.

Welcome.

What do you

Gordy Kopke (caller)

got?

Hey, Dom.

Long time listener.

I'm not a very secret caller, but you've been such a part of my life since way back in the days of the Mike.

Yesterday when you were...

told me your plans to move on.

I tell you, it was like a gut

Mike Crute (mentioned)

punch.

Gordy Kopke (caller)

And I don't know what I'm gonna do in the afternoon without you bud.

It's been such a pleasure having you fill my ears with different thoughts.

And I just wish you the best of whatever life can bring because you certainly deserve

Dom Salvia (host)

it.

Oh, Gordy.

Thank you so much.

Very, very kind words.

You've been a doll as well.

Copies, Copkeys greenhouse, man.

Go check Gordy out, man.

He does great stuff.

And it is, you know, and, and, you know, we, we did some sponsorship stuff back in the day.

And you got to go out and, you know, go to the greenhouses and it's just been like,

even folks like Gordy and other advertisers that come around, you develop relationships with

Jim Santel (host)

people,

Dom Salvia (host)

man.

If you're doing it right, that's how it is.

So with these kind of calls, Gordy, in the audience, I kind of feel like maybe we're doing it right.

So we appreciate that.

8-5-5-7-5-2-4-8-4-2.

Johnny John from Madtown, you are next.

Welcome, Johnny.

What do you

Tom from Madison (caller)

got?

No, I know you guys were bailing.

Yeah, because crew left, I never heard why he bailed, but I heard him on 820 out of Chicago, and he's got some kind of convertible car business, and I'm like, all right, they're all bailing.

And I'm hoping that the radio wasn't going to go corporate and Republican like what happened a long time ago when the 92 won.

Yeah, man.

No, and I was listening to you guys right when you came on and it got switched to 927.

And then listening since then, I'm like, why is everybody bailing?

Like what's coming in?

Dom Salvia (host)

Yeah, Johnny, I don't thank you, man.

I appreciate it.

man going back, you know, there's still some PTSD when people listen to Christmas music.

Jim Santel (host)

Cause

Dom Salvia (host)

when we got pulled from the mic back in the day, like there's the music and then they flipped over like classic rock, I think, but yeah, we were doing pretty good over there, man.

You know, for a progressive station in Madison, we were pulling some of the

better numbers you can get like nationwide as a percentage of the audience.

But, you know, again, as things happen, people have other ideas and, you

Jim Santel (host)

know, nothing's guaranteed, you know.

So, Dom, I'm thinking there could be some articles here.

There may be a full book, but my year's in radio, right?

And an anecdote from all the wonderful people called in today, many beyond this.

And there are some life lessons to be pulled from each one of those.

Dom Salvia (host)

Man

Jim Santel (host)

the good

Dom Salvia (host)

the good news and bad news the bad news is I don't remember most of it The good news is there's a podcast or a video somewhere There's evidence where we did this or but you know your words can be used against you But you know and all the years I gotta tell you what one of my biggest disappointments after 13 years and I thought we were provocative and pushing buttons and you know all the things mm-hmm never ever Got one death threat not even one

Not even one.

Dominic, you're a slacker.

I know, I know, I know.

What we got

Tom from Madison (caller)

time?

8-5-5,

Dom Salvia (host)

7-5-2, 4-8-4-2, your last opportunity.

I don't know what the FCC says about death threats.

I am not encouraging, I'm just saying.

Jim Santel (host)

It's

Dom Salvia (host)

just a point of

Jim Santel (host)

order, right?

Point of

Dom Salvia (host)

order.

13 years, not one death threat.

Really, any stocking?

No.

No stocking,

Jim Santel (host)

no

Dom Salvia (host)

death

Jim Santel (host)

threats.

What are we even doing?

Some strongly worded letters perhaps, but that's about it, right?

And we appreciate those coming in.

It makes your mail interesting.

Yes, we do appreciate it.

A

Mike Crute (mentioned)

couple

Jim Santel (host)

of dropped

Mike Crute (mentioned)

collars

Dom Salvia (host)

for FCC violations.

Shall I open this?

Is there quite power in there?

8-5-5-7-5-2-4-8-4-2.

Come back with us.

One final segment for you to jump on the Dom Salvia show, our last segment.

Tune in.

Salvia show, the last segment of the Dom salvia show.

So if you got something to say, hit us up right now, eight, five, five, seven, five, two, four, eight, four, two, uh, callers, textures.

You've been very generous.

We appreciate it at all, but be patient.

Uh, uh, my co-host for the day, James Santel, host of amicus, a law review broadcasting right here on the civic media radio network on Saturdays, nine to 11.

8am and Jessps on the board gonna give them a minute or two each to say their piece.

Say

James Santel (co-host)

your piece.

Dom Salvia (host)

No threats, no threats, no

James Santel (co-host)

death threats.

And for the record,

Dom Salvia (host)

sending Jess's death messages to forward to

Jess PS (producer)

me doesn't

Dom Salvia (host)

count.

That doesn't count.

Try again.

Alright Jess, what's going on?

Jess PS (producer)

Alrighty.

Um, back in September, when I got a call from Luke,

It was a weird day.

It was a weird day.

I got told that my show that I had been working on for a couple months, Busted Pencils, was coming off air.

And about in the same breath, Luke Mathers, who is our production manager here at Civic Media, he goes, and how would you feel about boarding for Dom Selvia?

And I go, um, huh?

He goes, oh yeah, Dom's gonna be taking over that time slot.

You just be, you would just be.

James Santel (co-host)

Just.

Just

Jess PS (producer)

be working the board for him.

Dom Salvia (host)

That's all, huh?

Jess PS (producer)

And that is the, I think that's the only lie that Luke has ever told

Dom Salvia (host)

me.

Jess PS (producer)

And I said, yeah, sure.

And I scheduled the time for the two of us to call and meet and I don't know, I clicked with you right away.

SPEAKER_??

Yeah.

Jess PS (producer)

And this role as your producer has been more work than I ever anticipated.

And it's all been worth it.

Every single minute.

Every article coming in at one in the morning.

Every time we roll in and you haven't told me about a guest.

Today.

I count you as a close friend, and I am so deeply grateful to have had this time with you and audience.

I'm so grateful for you.

I never meant to get into media.

This has been a wild, wild ride, and I am forever grateful.

So thank you.

Dom Salvia (host)

Thank you, Jess PS.

You are an amazing producer, a more amazing person, and also count you as a friend.

It's been a lot of fun.

I've been staying the last few days.

There's never been a damn Salvi show without...

just PS.

And you've got a great taste in music.

I mean,

Jess PS (producer)

the most important.

Yes.

Dom Salvia (host)

Yes.

The very, very important things here.

The music's a big part.

Thank you, Jess, for real.

James Santel.

Welcome,

James Santel (co-host)

buddy.

Don, we're talking today about origin stories, apparently.

And you recall that many, many years ago, seven or eight or so, you and I were sitting around a banquet table and you leaned over and said, here's my card.

Come and visit us sometime.

And I did.

You were my entree into radio as well.

It has been nothing.

short of spectacular and again not only a friend of great dimension but also hugely professional.

I've learned a lot from you and your grace and your intelligence and your humanity speak to me every single day.

So I'm going to get a little bit literary on you here.

Final lines of Alpha Lord Tennyson's poem Ulysses are these.

Though much is taken, much abides.

And though we are not now that strength which in old days moved heaven and earth, that which we are, we are one equal temper of heroic hearts made weak by time and fate, but strong in will to strive, to seek, to find, and never to yield.

You, my friend, you, my friend, are in heroic heart.

To me, to all your listeners, to everybody here at Civic Media and Beyond, and throughout your life.

as you go on to the next great adventures, the legacies that you pursue here, ever striving, ever seeking, ever finding, and never yielding.

Godspeed, my friend.

Thank you, James Santel.

Beautiful man.

Appreciate you.

Dom Salvia (host)

We've got a couple of minutes.

Let's get them in our final audience members.

You will have, it's historic.

You get the last words.

Let's get Rocky from Madtown.

Hey, Rocky, welcome.

What do you got?

Rocky from Madtown (caller)

Welcome.

Welcome, Randy.

What are your thoughts?

Randy (caller)

Whoa, I know I texted this to you, but I wanted to share it with the audience.

This is years ago.

There's a panel discussion in Milwaukee and McKenna and O'Donnell, and Earl, and Trude, all there, and you're sitting in the front row and we were getting on McKenna a little bit and you turned around and there's no way you could, this is one of the greatest ad libs I've ever seen, you could not have planned this, you turned around and backed us off of the chair with, just changed everything.

It's made it turn from a tense time to like a time of some real jocularity.

And I just want to know how much I appreciate you guys.

And I'm going to miss you and.

you know, wish you the best of

Dom Salvia (host)

luck.

Thank you, Randy.

Oh, appreciate it, man.

I told

Randy (caller)

you, like I

Dom Salvia (host)

said, I forgot about that.

It was funny.

People are getting mad and pick up the chair like back on like the lion's man.

Folks, it's been a ride.

It's been a lot of fun.

Thank you to everyone who's been a part.

Thank you, James Santel.

Check him out tomorrow, every Saturday here on the Civic Media Radio Network, 9 to 11 a.m.

Amicus, a law review.

Thank you, buddy, for everything.

Just

James Santel (co-host)

PS.

Dom Salvia (host)

It's been, it's been an adventure.

James Santel (co-host)

Thank

Dom Salvia (host)

you for putting out with me.

this whole time.

I know it could be a lot.

It's

James Santel (co-host)

a lot.

It's a

Dom Salvia (host)

lot.

It is a lot, folks.

And stay tuned.

Pete Schwab of the Nightlight is coming up next.

We'll see you around.

Maybe, you know, see you next time.

Have a great night.

Broadcasting across the state of Wisconsin on the Civic Media Radio Network and around the world on the Civic Media app. This is the Dom Salvia Show. And now, here's your host, Dom Salvia.

And welcome to the Dom salvia show. Thank you so much for listening. You can be a big part eight five five seven five two four eight four two eight five five seven five civic just PS work on the board. Matt Ross child co hosting today. He's formerly from the progressive Wisconsin democracy campaign, a civic media contributor and a friend of ours. Matt, thank you for joining me, ma'am.

It's a great day to be with you. It is a good day. Not only did the Brewers win yesterday and today and today and extra innings and also one of our textures remind us the Bucks won last night as well.

But judge Susan Crawford will soon be justice. Susan Crawford after she laid a shell lacking onto the B as who apparently didn't want the job anyway. And you know, and Elon Musk thought he was going to lose. It's amazing. All these things that are said after the fact.

map. But we did find a piece here, which is, it's very entertaining over at the urban Milwaukee.com Murphy's law, Bruce Murphy, fine journalist over there, 19 winners and losers in historic elections beyond the names on the ballot. Who else won and lost in yesterday's election? I think Matt, you're not gonna have to kind of bounce around on here. I'll start first. And then we'll go to the back and forth as Murphy writes.

If ever there was an election with some of the biggest winners and losers were not on the ballot, this was it. At times it seemed that the Wisconsin Supreme Court election was all about one loudmouth with a $25 million megaphone who didn't live in Wisconsin. Oh yeah, writes Bruce Murphy. He heads the list. I'll start Matt, then you go. Loser, Elon Musk.

Wow, did he lose big? No joke. I mean, who might be might be chump change or car seat coinage to him, but it was 20 to $25 million. Oh, don't worry, Matt. Oh, the money is one thing. But the emotional damage that's being rejected. So hard, priceless. Oh, you know, if Wisconsin voters screwed.

Elon Musk anymore. He'd always child support.

Don't forget to tip the help. Can you hear us in the back? Elon Musk. Wow. Did he lose a big liberal George Soros as always quietly donated two million this time to the Democratic party. Musk spent 12 times more than this on the election in addition to offering cash rewards to quote unquote petition signers that he clearly wanted to vote for conservative Supreme court candidate BS.

He wore a cheesehead hat. He probably regrets that the most. He wore a cheesehead hat, held rallies in Wisconsin, and made the election about him and.

was soundly defeated. Bruce Murphy writes Musk had talked about doing the same thing in other state elections. Democrats will love it if he does. Meanwhile, President Donald Trump, who doesn't like losers, might start separating himself a bit from Elon and Musk's company Tesla, which is fighting to change a state law borrowing manufacturers from opening dealerships, might get a chilly reception from the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

Yeah, that was Bruce Murphy at Urban Milwaukee, and he continues. By the way, I do think Trump is already starting to distance himself from Elon Musk. Rumor is at least on some of the DC media that it looks like Elon's not going to be around that much longer. So a speedy departure for him.

Another loser, according to Bruce Murphy, Donald Trump himself. He will blame the loss on Musk, seems to be doing that already. But in fact, he did endorse Shimmel, Bruce Murphy writes, and the Republicans ran ads, warning voters that liberal Supreme Court candidate Susan Crawford will stymie Trump's agenda. How did that work for you guys? So Bruce Murphy concludes her victory was a loss for Trump.

Very sweet. A winner. More winners here. Women justices. Have you noticed that almost every time the liberals win in Wisconsin Supreme Court election, the winners of women, the two who did at least a new bower in 2019 and Joanne Kloppenberg in 2011, both lost by a tiny 0.5% margin.

and Kloppenberg against incumbent David Prosser. The four liberal justices who held the majority in Wisconsin, including retiring and Walsh Bradley, were all standing behind Crawford as she gave her victory speech and were all hugging each other.

odds are Democrats are already looking for a woman, can they to run against conservative Rebecca Bradley next year? Oh, Rebecca Brad. We have some sound. We do. We do. Okay. This is the bad Bradley, not the good retiring Bradley. This is, I believe from BS's event last night. And this is a healthy work environment. I mean, I'm not saying she's going to choke somebody, but she's certainly very critical.

justice, you know, Republicans do it, man. Justice Rebecca Bradley. Man, she's, she's, she's leveling some legal allegations here. Right? Let's hear the bad Bradley. I'm really personally and professionally disappointed that a judge should have lost to judge Crawford. I think it's going to.

result in terrible consequences for the state of Wisconsin and for the state of the judiciary. My four colleagues have politicized our court in a terrible manner. They make political decisions all the time. They rule 100 percent for the Democratic Party in every case that's presented to them.

We had an opportunity to return the port to what it should be, which is deciding cases under the law. And unfortunately, we're simply going to see more politicization of the judiciary. I also think the way Judge Crawford ran her race was disgusting. Disgusting. She slandered a good man, Judge Schimmel. We saw this last time against Justice Kelly. It's really sickening. And I hope next time the people will see through the lies that are misportrayed good people.

in these ads. It's a terrible thing. It's just terrible. Terrible. I mean, if you accuse someone of slander and they didn't slander, isn't that slander in and of itself? I don't know, Justice Bradley. Matt, Matt, what's your reaction to all of that? Well, it's really kind of pathetic, isn't it? But, you know, both sides were throwing mud. No doubt about that. We got to, you know, get the Windex out for our screens. They're so full of mud from both sides. All those nasty ads. But Rebecca, Rebecca Bradley, you know, she was one of the most

uh, the biggest, uh, person to politicize the court I've seen in a long time here. I mean, to talk about, uh, politicizing the court, that's what she does in every one of her decisions practically. And she, you talked about the atmosphere on the court down. I mean, she's.

She makes it a hostile work environment, even for Hagedore. The conservative Hagedore justice, Rebecca Bradley, disgusting. She's disgusting. I mean, and, and maybe, but you know what? As you mentioned, man, both sides are doing it, man. You know what I mean? So yes, these are terrible ads and it's not slander. I'm just saying, and regarding to the last guy, Kelly, you know, who lost, well, you can't have.

two L's. Can't spell Kelly without two L's. Of course he lost twice. Why did Shimmel lose? Let's hear the wisdom of the bad Bradley. Sure. I'm just going to put a disclaimer on this. This audio, this was recorded at the event and it just gets steadily louder in the background. I did what I could. All right. Let's hear what we can. If it sucks, we'll turn it off. Why do you think Shimmel lost at the end of the day? He's shimmel. I think that we saw a ridiculous amount of money come in to this election. And I always defend the right of anybody.

to participate in speaking in elections. And of course, that takes money to do it. No, it doesn't. Going to see $100 million plus being spent on one state supreme court race. That is telling you that the Democratic Party is buying another justice, just like they did with Justice Protosiewicz. It needs to stop. Otherwise, there is no point in having a court. This is what the legislature's supposed to do, to make political decisions.

based on policy. That's not what a court's supposed to do. And unfortunately we're going to see this happening for at least the next several years. Happening for the least the next several years. Well, maybe next year. Cause that woman, justice Rebecca Bradley will be on the ballot. Now here's an opportunity, justice Bradley. You don't like the hundred million being spent. Why don't you team up with some of your democratic colleagues and maybe push

some legislation. I know you're on the court, but you have influence on in your Republican circles too. I don't know. Get money out of politics. There's an idea. Cause you know what's going to happen next time, Matt? It's going to be 150 million against, uh, well at least totality in the next cycle.

I mean, that segment was kind of delicious because Rebecca Bradley was one of the people who signed on to a decision in 2015 by the Wisconsin Supreme Court that let super rich people give unlimited amounts of money to, uh, nonprofit groups that don't do the electionary, don't tell you vote for or vote against the, but essentially do by just saying call such and such at this number, six or eight, whatever, and tell them to stop being such a scoundrel. She was the one who said, that's okay. That's totally fine. On top of that, she said, candidate.

to coordinate with those groups. So, you know, she's wanting to talk about money in politics. Right. And then based on her rulings and based on her, her actions and certainly of her, her party as well, this is success. This is what they wanted. And now they're limited all the money, the money. Well, do something about it. We're here. The Dems are down. Independence are down. Man, people are down getting the money out. You don't like it. Do something about it. I do have one more cut from, from Bradley, the bad Bradley.

I mean, yeah, let's see. How will it be to work with Crawford? Let's just play. How are you feeling about working with Susan Crawford? I'm not looking forward to working with her because I think she's

As I have accused her of, and it's simply not true, she has bought and paid for it by the Democratic Party. I challenge her to rule one time against the Democrats. I haven't seen that get from any of my liberal colleagues, but having said that, I will work with her like I've worked with all of my other colleagues and get the work done.

I'm just saying don't accept the coffee from Rebecca Bradley. I don't think they'll be flowers coming from Rebecca Bradley or a homemade pie on Susan Crawford's desk from Rebecca Bradley. At least get a taster for that. Come on. These, the justices have never ruled against democratic interests. Never Justice Bradley.

Literally this week, attorney general Josh call was rejected unanimously in his efforts to stop Elon Musk from doing these very close to illegal money giveaways, man. They actually pulled down the video of one of the ladies accepting the million dollar check because she said she'd got it for voting that she got paid for voting and they pulled that down. Oops. My bad. So yeah, there was a case just this week that

everybody, the Republicans, the conservatives and the liberals turned down Josh Call. So there you go. There's one.

There's one. Folks, you're listening to the Dom Salvia show, eight, five, five, seven, five, two, four, eight, four, two. Got Matt Rothschild joining me today. Got just PS on the board. A few more, perhaps winners and losers from yesterday's Supreme Court race. Folks, you are all winners. You're listening to the Dom Salvia show. We'll wrap up a few more here and we'll take your calls, eight, five, five, seven, five, two, four, eight, four, two. Also, also we have a little bit of sound, not all of it. Senator Cory Booker. I said we should play all of it, but just said, no, I'll do a show.

like next month, but we're going to play a little bit of Cory Booker standing up. We need, we need some performance from our Democrats. I think that was a fine job. Let's see what else we can do. Give them some good trouble folks. Eight, five, five, seven, five, two, four, eight, four, two.

Music playing

Hey, welcome back to the Dom Salvia show eight five five seven five two four eight four two eight five five seven five civic at just PS on the board. Earl Ingram joining me today. You can listen to his fine program eight to 10 a.m. Monday through Friday. You're the civic media radio network and the word of the day folks for our spring break into spring text to win statewide contest.

Stay S T A Y. Text the word. Stay download the app. Find the station. Text the word. Stay for your chance to win a stay at the Chula Vista and overnight stay. Text the word. Stay to win. Good luck. We'll do this up until the five o'clock hour.

Earl, Ingram, junior, a glorious victory for mankind. I mean, if you listen to Elon Musk, man, everything was on the line. And then, you know, the next day, while I didn't really expect to win, but we got the voter ID in the constitution.

But what about the money stuff, man? I thought this was kind of, kind of, kind of hairy. Paying people to quote unquote sign a petition. Paying people randomly a million bucks. One of the ladies, a lady who won a million bucks says she won the million bucks for...

because you voted and then they had to take that video down because apparently that's illegal. So, ah, but, but they took it down. I mean, I'm saying they did it. You see it, you know, it doesn't undo itself just because you delete the video. Um, what was your sense on, on the way Elon Musk was just passing that money around, man? Well, you know, Dominic, when a guy is

You know worth more money than the city of Milwaukee You know it doesn't surprise you he he has he has no No understanding at all of ever needing anything money money to him Basically doesn't have any worth man. I mean you got what 280 billion dollars. I mean he lost

half of us, you know, wealthy was up to 460 billion. He lost half of that. But you know, it money has no value to him. So it doesn't really matter. And so he thinks that he buy anything and anybody, the instances he can. But one thing that I know for certain, last time I checked Dominic, those caskets don't have any pockets on them.

And so when, when Elon Musk's time comes, it doesn't matter how much money he has. And you would think though, Dominic, after it's all said and done, we saw not just Elon Musk, but conservatives are the ones who opened the door for all of this chicanery. They certainly have. They opened the door and then for them to turn around and say, well, Democrats do it too. Yeah. Because you opened the door.

and you started doing it, you made it okay. What are the Democrats supposed to do, Dominic, not follow suit? They're supposed to fight, fire with fire. And so that money, I don't know how you go back, Dominic. You keep hearing people say, well, we've got to undo it. How you going to undo it, man?

Well, constitutional referendums, I mean, you know, legislatively, there's lots of things. Come on, man. We just passed a constitutional referendum to add voter ID to the constitution. I mean, really? I mean, that's, I mean, if that's important, we can do important things. And folks thought that was important. I think it's not, but here we are today. If people are motivated enough, we can do that. And the rights, man.

You know, as you mentioned with Rebecca Bradley and their decisions on the Wisconsin Supreme Court, certainly citizens united all these, uh, McCutcheon, all these other ones that, that slowly, you know, broke down this, this think, man, a hundred years ago, you couldn't do this health. 20 years ago, you couldn't do this. So I just think, man, it is, it is, it is beyond, beyond the pale. Uh, and I think it's something that does literally unite, uh, the folks that, that otherwise maybe not.

agree on other policies or issues as the money in the politics. And I would say what the needs, yes, Elon Musk, he does have some needs. I would suggest birth control eight, five, five, seven, five, two, four, eight, four, two, eight, five, five, seven, five civic Brian from Milwaukee. We'll get you in here this segment. Brian, welcome. What do you got for us? Yeah. Hey guys. Um, yeah, it was interesting. There was an article I read online about, uh,

Guy who had millions of dollars. I don't remember what city it was But he saw the homelessness that was going on in the city and he built a community For the homeless with his own money with about I think he put a hundred Little houses, you know that he built in this community And it was just one of the most interesting articles to read and I'm they have me thinking you know if the people that are in office right now like oh mr. T and and

with their billions of dollars really care about helping people, then that money that they have, that means nothing to them. They should be handy and fist over, you know, to those of us who need it. If they really care about the American people, which obviously they don't. Right. I mean, they're, they're, there's your answer, Brian. They don't, and they, they give it all away for a little bit more. And, you know, they, they have the right.

And thanks for the call Brian. They have the right to be greedy bastards. Okay. But we also have the right as citizens of this country to, to elect representatives who will encourage a tax code.

You know, that would, that would maybe, maybe, maybe steer some of that, you know, direct some of that with our taxes. We had it before, we had high tax rates before. Sure, there, there were cutouts and deductions and things you could take in the past, but we, we can do that. We've done it in the past. We can do it again. When we, when we just roll over oil and just assume, well, they're, they're billionaires, they're, they're connected. And since they're billionaires, they must be smarter enough. They know everything. Uh, no, hell no, man. Musk was wrong about, about Brad Schimmel.

certainly, and Musk is wrong about lots of things. I mean, he's put out there and he needs to hold effort to dose defy the federal government. Some of the data he put out there is as, uh, proof of their winnings and their efficiencies were wrong over and over. The guy says, well, we're going to make mistakes. Yes, we get that. They do make mistakes, but I think Earl, it is, it is up to us and to Brian's point, uh, if those folks and they want the.

They have the ability to really help people. They don't want to do it. They don't have to. But we as a country, we as a citizen, we as we, the people can make those determinations for them. Well, you know, you know, Dominic, um, yeah, the people united can never be defeated. It's factual, but it's not like we have people united, right? Yeah. How do you unite the people, man?

Right. Stick in the face of what we're looking at with Donald Trump and Elon Musk and people still supporting it. Well, we will be united and we will be united in our misery. I guess that'll be the case. So come back with us early. Eight five five seven five two four four two. Your calls are next.

five, seven, five, two, four, eight, four, two, eight, five, five, seven, five, civic, 30 minutes left to play the break into spring text to win statewide contest. This hour's key word, cozy, cozy, C O Z Y cozy. Download the civic media app. Find your favorite radio station. Use the text button at the bottom to send the keyword cozy for your chance to win $100. $100 is your prize today. Good luck.

to us all. Matt Ross child joining me today. Jess P S on the board as well. Before we move on to some of the callers here, Matt, I just want to finish the thought on Senator Ron Johnson. Now Ron Johnson believes that somehow that Elon Musk was a net

positive for the BS campaign. A little bit more from the reporting that the Milwaukee general Sentinel Democrats following Crawford's went out of the result as an indictment of Trump and Musk, some Republicans and political commentators. This one included similarly suggested the double digit result was a hint at Musk's unpopularity. Johnson, however, brushed off these comments. He noted Schimel received, and this is interesting,

200,000 more votes than the conservative candidate in 2023's state Supreme Court race, but said the left was far more energized in 2023. The conservative candidate lost by 11 points. Johnson said, uh, Tuesday's results was saw Crawford win by more than 230,000 votes than Schimel was a result of quote Trump derangement syndrome, which he said, quote, now shifted to Elon Musk derangement.

their base is ginned up, Johnson said. They're over the top upset that Donald Trump won. And this is the kind of way they're lashing out and responding.

Well, I think he might be on to something there at the end, though. I think Musk was a net negative. I mean, Musk got out the liberal and progressive base. I think there's no doubt about that. Musk's much less popular than Trump is. And so the flip side of that, you know, I live in a mixed political neighborhood where there were several Trump signs up, but only one Schimmel sign up, which is kind of curious to me and interesting in hindsight that, you know, some of the folks who just love Trump or living in Trump world, you know, they didn't care that much about Brad Schimmel.

that a no bridge and what wasn't that important to him was more important to get Trump in there. So I think some of those folks stayed home. Sure, must $20 million probably got some of the folks out, but it really got the people out in Madison and Milwaukee and in other counties that flipped because yes, people are disgusted.

with what Donald Trump is doing to this country, and what Elon Musk is callously doing to all those federal employees, and doing to our healthcare system, and what RFK Jr. is doing to our healthcare system. So, you know, the thing about Musk that really I think is telling, in a couple days before this election, he said,

in his grandiose way, that the destiny of humanity was hinging on the result of the state supreme cup race. And then what did he say yesterday? He said, there is value in losing a piece for positional gain. That's a chess metaphor. And clearly he just thought Wisconsin was a pawn in his game. Nice. Well, he did lose Wisconsin. And to your point, Matt, I think

Not only the actual, you know, the Trump administration has been doing to unwind the federal government in ways that are, I think, are unconstitutional and not.

not proper. That certainly has an effect on people. But I think there's a personal part to this too, when people see a guy like Elon Musk, the richest man in the world coming, is to start tossing money around Wisconsin. I mean, I've read articles and I've had personal conversations with folks that, you know, I wasn't really going to vote, but when I saw what Musk was doing, that made me go vote. I wanted to make sure people knew what my position was and I didn't like that. And there were no discussions about what the Trump administration overall was doing when I had my personal conversations with some of these folks.

It was specifically about who does he think he is essentially? And what does he do? Why is he doing that here? And if I have anything to say about it, I'm not gonna let him get away with it. So I think there are some of that good populist anger at, you know, Richie Rich coming to the state for the first time, putting on a silly cheesehead and acting like he could buy the state. I think there was a lot of that going on in there. It was also

what Trump and Musk are doing to our democracy, just destroying our constitution. This gave us the first opportunity to say no to all that and say yes to democracy. So I think there was a lot of that going on. And I just want to again reiterate what Republican Senator Ron Johnson from Wisconsin says, that if you voted for Crawford, if you did not toll the line and vote for BS, you have Trump derangement syndrome.

Not, not that you got a problem with the way this administration is tackling what they, the perceived issues in the federal government. No, not that. No, you, you have a problem, not, not with the way that this administration is handling international secrets or whatever the case is, you know, pick, pick your, right, do process, right. Oh my God. I mean, we haven't gotten there. All of those things. No, that's not the reason, according to Senator Ron Johnson, according to Senator Ron Johnson, all those things are fine. You folks, you voters who didn't vote Republican, you have Trump.

derangement syndrome, which is now apparently metamorphced into Elon Musk derangement over the top upset. Well, yeah, man, this is why they call them elections. And we have an opportunity to, you know, let our voices be heard again. That's not called lashing out and responding. It's called self governance. It's called voting, sir.

But it's not just the left. He's ripping on. Once again, Johnson said he was very disappointed that more, uh, more Wisconsin Republicans who voted for Trump last November did not turn out. Though he added, I don't know how much more effectively we could have communicated, noting the millions of dollars in advertisements, media and grassroots organizing. They were obviously a far, they were obviously a far more motivated base. I can't say anything other than I'm highly disappointed in it.

I think they did an excellent, excellent job of getting their message out. They were very concise. They were very clear. Their message was that Brad Schimmel BS was going to be a support network for Donald Trump. That was the message. It was made loud and clear. People received it and said, no, thank you. Are you sure that wasn't Trump derangement syndrome? Positive. I mean, it must be.

And that Trump derangement syndrome, I mean, how lazy an attack response is that? I mean, anytime anyone criticizes Trump right now, we're just going to throw that old label at you. No merit in the criticism that's coming at you. Otherwise you'd have to address what's actually being criticized. You'd have to address what your folks and your team is doing that people actually take umbrage with. If you had to actually talk about it, you couldn't just say dumbass things like that and then move along.

eight, five, five, seven, five, two, four, eight, four, two, eight, five, five, seven, five civic. Let's move along to some of our very patient callers. We appreciate that. Tom from Madison. Happy days, Tom. Welcome to the show. What do you got for us? Hey, what a celebration, guys. I felt like a little kid being high on America last night. You know, for all of the things we want our politicians to say, and they don't say, Cory Booker said it all last night.

It was absolutely amazing. And then I went to my favorite political bar, and then I went to the Crawford party. And I walked in, saw some people I knew, and I was fully expecting to be sitting there dutifully drinking a cocktail or two and waiting for those returns to come in till midnight. And the person I was talking to turned to me and said, no, it's over. We won.

You missed the whole show, Tom. I got there 10 minutes before Susan Crawford made her speech and I'll tell you, it's one of the happiest days we've had in a long time and Wisconsin. Yeah. For real. Thanks for sharing Tom. Appreciate it. That's right. I always make sure you get to the opening band on time and you never know what's going to happen. Eight, five, five, five, two, four, four, two.

Yeah, I'm sorry. The euphoria that you hear in Tom's voice and the euphoria that we heard at the Crawford victory, you know, I think we're all feeling it. I'm certainly feeling it. And my friends and family members are feeling it too. It's just, you know, it's tremendous reminds me of the, you know, the victory that Tammy Baldwin had when she was first elected to the house. It's great to celebrate these victories. We got to celebrate these victories.

And what's the takeaway? What's the read-in in your opinion, Matt? I mean, was it the money? Was it the doge? And was it Trump and the tariffs? I mean, what's your takeaway from this election victory? I think the money was awash on both sides. Both sides raised a ton. It was disgusting how much one person

you know, the $20 million or $25 million from one guy more than 10 times would anyone in the Democratic side chip in and they shouldn't be able to chip in $1 million or $2 million for that matter. I'm against all of that. We got to change our campaign finance system. No, I think it was a referendum on Moscow referendum on Trump and that the progressive and Democratic base understood what was at stake here at the Wisconsin Supreme Court as far as reproductive rights, labor rights, education, other big issues, fair

maps. But also, most of all, it was defiance. Defiance against Trump. We hate the direction you're taking this country. It's a disgrace and defiance against Elon Musk. You can't waltz in here and buy a state Supreme Court justice. And I think we have to give a little credit.

If that's what we're calling it to BS, man, he was a terrible candidate. He was a terrible AG. He's a Walker shill. We all knew this. He lied about Milwaukee voting. He lied about the rape kits. He's just, and he, he's, he's, he's all about the money and transactional politics. And that's what he did. He supported, you know, the corporations when he was AG supported all the things Walker did. It was, I think you cannot, you got to put at least some of it.

You got to put some of it. I'm not going to say, and I would agree. Certainly it's a referendum on, on musk and all that, but if they had had a different candidate, you know what I mean? Maybe it would have been tighter. Cause I think BS is really that bad of a candidate, eight, five, five, seven, five, two, four, eight, four, two, eight, five, five, seven, five at Civic Trevor from Dane County. You are up Dane County showing up last night. What do you got for us, Trevor? Can you hear me? Yes, sir. All right. So I'm sticking up for my cousin.

Uh, who works for the BLM, that's the Bureau of Land Management. Um, he built, built himself a beautiful career out in Idaho. And these people want to take that away from him. And that, that like crushes my soul, you know? Yeah. And, and I don't want that to happen to him because you know, you work your, you work your tail off.

to, to do something productive and help people. And then you get it ripped out from underneath you by some people that do some really unethical things. I don't want anything to do with them. You know, so last night was a big victory for me. Um, big, big victory for my family. So it was, it was big. Yeah. Yeah. Thanks for sharing Tom. Uh, I'm sorry to hear about your family members and

Yeah, it's tough. And I think we, as we look at these cuts that are being put upon us, and again, this isn't coming from Congress or passing laws. This is just coming willy-nilly from the richest man in the world with the backing of the oldest president we've ever had, who I think is slowly losing his mind. But what are, what are the reasons, man? I think we have to constantly remind everybody, tell them once, tell them twice, tell them again, what are the reasons that we are going through these, these machinations?

for Doge and family members losing their jobs and friends losing their jobs or perhaps social security and safety net checks being delayed. Those kinds of things is because this administration is trying to carve out four and a half trillion dollars to give tax breaks to millionaires and billionaires. That's why.

That's why this is happening. Never, ever forget that. And if we recognize that, we'll also recognize in the same, in the same instance that we, the people, we, uh, through our elected representatives can change all of that. Man, we can change all of that. If people showed up like this every time and everybody got like a 50, over 50% turnout, uh, predicted from yesterday on an off year state of Wisconsin state Supreme Court election. I mean, that's, that's pretty high. Still only 50%.

You know what I mean? So if we, man, if we could engage through that and we could make these things happen, we could limit the money in politics if we get enough people to say, hey, let's limit the money in politics. We can do that.

We can do that. We can change the Constitution. Hell, they changed the Constitution. Put a photo ID on to go vote now. We're gonna put that in the Constitution. Well, kind of pointless in my mind, but just it goes to show you, we can change the Constitution. We, the people can do that. If we're motivated enough, if we work hard enough at it, if we figure out, we get our team together, figure out what we want, how we want it, when we want it done, we can do that, man. But man, it takes effort and engagement to do so. I think that was proven last night.

Yeah, the engagement was terrific. There are a lot of good people working in Wisconsin on this campaign finance reform issue. And I think if the Democrats get hold of the state legislature and we still have a Democrat governor, we'll get some real campaign finance reform here. And that's good for everybody, everybody, Republicans.

Democrats independence. Come on, man. Let's get the money out. And then we can debate our debate, whether who's got the better ideas and the better candidates. Right, Robin Foss. Come back with us. 855-752-4842. Taking a victory lap for Judge Susan Crawford. Taking your calls next.

Hello tomorrow and goodbye to yesterday We've been waiting for this moment And we still don't know what to say We may never find the answers Or know the reason why Why we both decided we should say goodbye

Welcome back to the Dom salvia show last segment of the day. If you got something to say, hit us up right now, eight, five, five, seven, five, two, four, eight, four, two. We'll get your questions, your comments, but you got to start off by telling us something good. I got Matt Rothschild here. We got just PS on the board. Uncle Tony text and something good from what I heard Corey Booker broke.

Strom Thurmond's record for length of speech on the Senate floor to have a black man beat an old racist like Thurmond and for a much better cause was something very good. Uncle Tony, you're absolutely right. Strom Thurmond rose to what against the civil rights act. We want to discriminate. We don't want those kids at our pools. I mean, wow, dude, you really, you got to be passionate to speak for 24, 25 hours. And I think Booker's motivation was much better than Thurmond.

certainly. Let's hear the concluding statement from Senator Cory Booker right now, please. The power of the people is greater than the people in power. It is time to heed the words of the man. I began this whole thing with John Lewis. I beg folks to take his example of his early days where he made himself determined to show his love for his country at a time the country didn't love him.

To love this country so much to be such a patriot that he endured beatings Savagely on the Edmund Pettus Bridge at lunch counters on freedom rides. He said he had to do something He would not normalize a moment like this He would not just go along with business and usual He wouldn't know how to solve it But there's one thing that he would do that I hope we all can do that I think I did a little bit of tonight

He said for us to go out and cause some good trouble, necessary trouble, to redeem the soul of our nation. I want you to redeem the dream. Let's be bold in America, not to mean and degrade Americans, not divide us against each other. Let's be bolder in America with a vision that inspires with hope.

that starts with the people of the United States of America, that's how this country started, we the people. Let's get back to the ideals that others are threatening, let's get back to our founding documents, that those imperfect geniuses had some very special words at the end of the Declaration of Independence, was one of the greatest in all of humanity declarations of interdependence. When our founder said, we must mutually pledge, pledge to each other.

Our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor. We need that now from all Americans. This is a moral moment. It's not left or right. It's right or wrong. It's getting good trouble. My friend, Madam President, I yield the floor.

Senator Cory Booker, the first and last statements, certainly appreciate. Thank you, Jess, for playing that for us today. Matt, I want to understand you. We had some, as we wrap up something good, some poetry. I know you love the poetry, man. What do we got? I do. So this is a poem by a poet I like, Naomi Sheehan.

Nine, she's a bleeding Palestinian-American poet. And this is a poem I hadn't read before. I was looking for a poem about friendship, because I love you two guys. And it's a beautiful poem about the stranger, welcoming the stranger in a poem about friendship. Red Brocade. The Arab is used to say, when a stranger appears at your door, feed him for three days before asking,

who he is, where he's come from, where he's headed. That way, he'll have strength enough to answer. Or by then, you'll be such good friends. You don't care. Let's go back to that. Rice, pine nuts. Here, take the red brocade pillow. My child will serve water.

to your horse. No, I was not busy when you came. I was not preparing to be busy. That's the armor everyone put on to pretend they had a purpose in the world. I refuse to be claimed. Your plate is waiting. We will snip fresh mint.

into your tea. Lovely, man. That's great. And we see up now the red brocade. So if you like a poet, my recommendation is just go buy a book by that poet and just enjoy their whole range of emotions in art. She's terrific.

I'm glad I stumbled upon that yesterday and shared it with you today. Yeah. Thank you, Matt. Likewise. Love you too, man. Great sentiment. You know, just feed them and hang out. Next thing you know, it won't matter. You know what I'm saying? That is a great sentiment. Thank you, Matt. Don from the MKE. Tell us something good, buddy. Well, civic media is something good. And I got a quick comment on that election. I think people are getting sick and tired of Trump's

call it. I believe he called Susan Crawford a lunatic. Just don't be for that. Hey, oh, that's my comment for today. I'm done. I'm pretty sure something good. Are we some of me does go. We appreciate that. Thank you, Don. Uh, my something going, I got a haircut today, man. Am I looking younger? No, lovely. Anything does. I promise to only lie to you about the time.

You totally lied to me about the time. I don't know if I believe the time right now. Folks, thank you so much for listening to the Dom Salvia show. Thank you, Matt Rothschild. So sincerely, man, love you. Thank you for everything you do. I look forward to coming to Madison, getting someone that tie food sometime real soon. Just PS working the board, working hard, cutting up that sound, even stuff that I know you don't want to play, but you did it for me anyway. Thank you so much. Appreciate that. And thank you to our fair audience for playing along, listening. We will be back on the radio tomorrow. Earl, I'm going to join me tomorrow. Now sticker.

keep it locked. Pete Schwab of the Nightlight is coming up next. See you on the radio tomorrow. Have a good night.
