Today, on January 6th, 2025, Democracy stands. Four years ago on this day, Democracy wobbled- big time. Today, Vice President Kamala Harris, who serves as President of the Senate oversaw the certification of Donald Trump's electoral victory. The process was quick, smooth, and uneventful. As it should be. We recall how it was not so four years ago when Mike Pence was charged with overseeing Joe Biden's presidential certification. Though Pence set his mind to doing just that, Trump's supporters swarmed the Capitol chanting for the Vice President of the time to be hanged.

Too many supporters of the current President-elect now talk of the insurrection on Jan 6th, 2021 as a peaceful protest. A great "meh"ification if you will. So we take time to remember what really happened that day. We take time to read and bear witness to the horrors of that day with the testimony of Aquilino Gonel, on what he experienced that day as a Capitol Police sergeant.
