As we process through the day after yet another mass school shooting, many of us are looking for ways to help. One path is to donate to help the community. Among many options, United Way of Dane County has organized a fundraiser you can contribute to here.

After continuing to address this moment and what our focus should be in the aftermath of another mass shooting, we move to proficiency. What does it mean for a student to be proficient in a subject? Is "proficient" even a reasonable or useful metric? Or is it just a marketing scheme? The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel published a piece on Wisconsin's adjustment of "proficient" benchmarks on standardized testing. Tim wrote a response, give it a read, it's worth it!
