Community Voice · Thu Sep 24, 2026
Good morning, welcome to Community Voice. I'm your host Keith Parris. I want to thank everybody for joining us this morning. Good morning, Clark. Hey, what's happening, man? Like you got something up? You get all of that green and gold on. Yeah, you know what's happening. Another day to day. If they lose, then I won't have it on next day. At least you're honest. I'm honest. What's happening?
That Oregon was I just I just examined it. Oh, yeah Did they resolve that little issue he has with the church?
But that cat can play, man. Oh, yeah. That cat can play. That cat can play. Oh, my God. It's like every time I hear that, and I've been listening to this since I was little, but every single time I hear it, it's just do something to me, man. That cat can really play, man. It's like certain people, you hear him play, you be like, all right, they cool. Then you hear other people play, you be like, man, this dude is amazing. Oh, Shirley Barthee.
My god mother. And that's who I grew up under. Shirley Burt. Yeah. Um, Maceal Woods, when he would come, he had a thing or he'd do Amazing Grace and he had a trick that he used where, you know, he would hold it. I think he put a piece of paper down to hold the note up so then he could walk and come back in the organ and still playing. Yeah, that's smart. Yeah.
Man, when they would come, all these fur coats getting off the bus. Man. I mean, they put the glamorous and gospel man. I mean, I don't know if he, I think he's still alive. I know that they do, every year his church has a, they do a concert, but then he gotta be in his 90s if he's still alive.
but it was something to watch these folks come in, man. I mean, it would just be like, whoa, okay. Money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money, money. I was, yesterday I was at Walgreens and as I was checking out and, you know, they got the music going on and they were playing.
Gregory Hines and Luther Vandross. Nothing better than love. The song that we were talking about. Yeah, and that's great. But then I heard, I don't know where I was. Oh, I was, oh man, black people didn't hurt Elsa. So I'll just say that I was at Elsa's last night picking up a burger. And they were playing this Smokey Robinson song that
Michael Jackson did, you know, Jackson 5. Yeah, well that's Smokey Robinson. As a matter of fact, the miracles did it, but it was bigger when the Jackson 5 did it.
No, but it came up man and my little music roller decks Chucky Booker. Why you wanna play your games on me? Why you wanna play? Why you wanna play? Was he with, what group was he with? Slave? Where's the Chucky Booker come from? Chucky? Chucky? That's a good question.
Anyway, y'all throwback Thursday phone lines open for 1 4 4 4 4 5 2 5 0 4 1 4 4 4 4 5 2 5 0 I was looking I was trying to get what that final vote count was for The raises for the mayor and the older folks who voted forward who voted against it You know how you look at it
Obviously, people who work are worth their due. But if you have a city budget that already they're going to do some things like they're raising the parking meter rate, they're increasing the amount you have to pay for street parking. And what was the third one? Oh, fines. They're all going up. Now, again, these.
this particular term, these alter people would have to run again in order to get the pay increase. I just wonder what the vote was and when I was looking, I couldn't find how it broke out. I know in committee, there were two auders who voted, I think, was three to two coming out of committee. It's one of those debates where...
If it is now again, it's two years, you know, it won't go into effect until two years So we don't know what the budget's gonna look like in two years But we do know that the city has its challenges and look hey, man, I wanted my pay increase But you know, there's a question about when people Run for elected office and I think it's Oblige and oblige
This idea that you do it for the public service and you don't do it for the pay And then people make the argument. Well, you know, I'm still doing the work I should get paid. So I think it depends on where you are People have to feed their families But you know, I and this is just an observation. I know that there were some people who would leave one elected official one elected position
To move to another elected position because that other elected position paid more money There's some people that was their motivation with others. I guess they saw it as an opportunity to serve a broader group of people So and again, I'm not an order So it's easy for me, but I am I am a City of Milwaukee property taxpayer. So, you know, those what what that looks like
you know, with people who are able to do, you know, cash rules, everything around me, right? And so, you know, these are economic realities. And, you know, the other piece of it is maybe, and first of all, let me say this, I know I'm babbling. Let me say this. I'm so happy that we didn't have to see Trump.
I think that whole thing where there was no press pool traveling with him, no images. God, what a welcome respite. I'm hoping that they can, because I do know the CNN people went in, the correspondent, she has yet to get her credentials to get back in the White House if you don't know a judge ruled against the ban that Donald Trump did with Politico.
with MSNOW and CNN. And he did it because he didn't like the reporting, right? And so that's what it was. But then everything, and this is the little default, everything is national defense, national security. Build the ballroom, national security, right? Build the arch. Now, this whole idea, what they want to do with the arch where one,
They're talking about where you want to put the arch is on a flight path into Reagan. And you're going to store munitions and drones. And then somebody pointed out, they said, if an invader got that far, it's too late, right? I mean, it's like doing the Revolutionary War when they burned down Washington. And that's too late.
You know, so God, I wish I was on Sirius X in the call of what it is. But man, come on, man. There's so much BS. It's just like, and oh, oh, oh, so let me rant. Oh, now, now Republicans got a backbone. Now you got a backbone. Now they want to jump ship. Oh, the name money now. Oh, no. No, they waited till after the primaries, right?
And now, and they're going to, if you believe what's going on, and again, I tell you all, there's the public polling, but all of these groups do private polling you know nothing about. And they're getting killed. There are states right now that a year ago wasn't even on the map for Democrats. You're looking at Iowa. Yeah. You're looking at Texas. Yeah. They didn't pull back from Georgia. Right.
Michigan is kind of don't know what's going to happen with Michigan because Black voters are going to make a decision on what happens in Michigan. So Black voters, some of them are not really sold on El Said. And that's why Kamala Harris was there campaigning for him a couple of days ago. Maine is now in place because I don't know. And again, you have to follow MSNOW to know this particular story.
is that Susan Collins was being investigated for taking bribes and staring defense contracts to a company, the guy who's currently, who owns companies currently in jail. And so they're looking at her as possible bribery, but then the Trump administration ended the investigation. So now it makes sense why she's voting for Trump on a lot of these issues because of that particular piece.
We'll see this morning. I think Netanyahu is scheduled to speak before the UN this morning. How many people will get up and walk out when he gets up to speak? Did you see all the people that walked out yesterday? Yeah, it wasn't Netanyahu though, was it? Yeah. Okay, so then. Sir, all the people got up and left. And walked out. They started cheering. People have, you know, we have a real short memory. Not too long ago, Israel.
And South Africa was, you know, considered pariah states. And what this dude was able to do, you get this little malleable mind of Donald Trump. And now, because Israel is not economically impacted by what's going on in the Persian Gulf, obviously, because Iran is certainly not going to do business with Israel. But it's having global impact now.
You look at the cost of diesel fuel we were talking about it yesterday in our civic moment Where the sister points out how the oil market works, right? You know, I mean it is Elections have consequences They were interviewing Former president Barack Obama and you could just see the frustration when he's sitting up here thinking like this dude
You know, I mean, it's, it's like, um, and, you know, he was talking about, they was asking him specifically about this idea of banning the press. Um, but see, sometimes you cut off your nose to spite your face, right? So the one thing that Donald Trump feeds on is attention. Well, now nobody's covering them. Um, he used his name on Friday.
Did not use his name on Friday today is Thursday. I Didn't use his name on Friday I Didn't you know Yeah, that's a violation I know I'm slipping done it on some Fridays, but not this past Friday Okay, okay, okay, hey catch up with us in September do you remember
21st day in September. That's crazy. That's crazy. You know the song, but don't know the words. You know the melody. You know the melody. It's kind of brainwashed though. Yeah. It's crazy. Like you might not know like or heard a song for 30 some years and you hear that melody in the trigger. Oh.
I mean you can sing the parts that you know or it'll take you back to where you were when you first heard that's why I could I could identify with Eddie Murphy's daddy you know a lot of us don't know we don't know the lyrics I say in the choir that'd be struggling with the lyrics I had my note right
Right and then there's a sister I love her so much Linda McNeil who was she was a soprano section but I'll be and she turned to me said keep those those ain't the words I'm sitting up there making up my own words but they actually teach you if you don't know the words to actually say watermelon watermelon because it looked like watermelon would fit with all of the
But why would they pick out all of them? Why would they pick out watermelon? I know brother. I know brother. Black people eat more than watermelon. Why don't you say pineapple? But you know what? There was a young brother who came on really schooled me on watermelon. Yeah. Yeah. And how they sold it. Right. And what it was. And it was a big business. And what it did. And how it prevented.
So he gave the medicinal, but I was going like, yeah, dude, but there's still the cultural sub part of all of this. But, you know, what's so funny is how white people would use that to try to talk about us. And they eat it like crazy. And in reality, we should look at that as, well, you know, that was our business. That was a business. That's how we
Made money and to this day. Oh, we brought it from Africa and to this day like you see people like the guy that used to sell over here. Mm-hmm or Sherman in capital Lincoln Park Lincoln Park or I saw a guy on your row and they had a truck full of them and they out But I remember back in the day my parents used to go over here in old Sherman in capital and they get the watermelon But I remember my dad
He showed us how to actually pick them and know them that they sweet. So you hit them joints in the middle and listen and show enough He was right man. That's some dial saw stuff. I don't know how and where they got it from Yeah, so you can listen to how hallow hallow. Yeah, how hallow it sounds like yeah, that's it That's the only thing we could eat on the porch
on the port. Man, that brings so many ads. Oh no, that's why you on the port. That's why you on the port. That's the only thing my father let us let us eat out there, man. We'd be like sitting on newspaper, right? Yeah, gotta have that newspaper. Man, you gotta have that newspaper. Yeah, that's the only thing, you know, because we won country.
Best watermelons in the city is right there on Sherman and Capital. Oh, yeah. Okay. Okay. And man, people, people thought I was crazy when I was like, you can, you can listen to the, you can listen to it and it'll tell you, it speaks to you, man. And people thought I was crazy and I'm like, try it. Man, during Black History Month at the Mount, they were allowing us to do a Black History meal.
And they did greens. Oh, we had fried chicken and mac and cheese and then mac and cheese and then the guy would go you guys want watermelon There we go, huh So he'd have it but only the white people need water bill. What another black people eat watermelon And so for a long time man, I mean I just did cuz I can say culturally if you look at some of those old
cartoons that they would do back in 1800s and early 1900s and black folks yeah black face big red lips smiling yeah I mean it's it's oh you know what it's crazy you have them talking about us in watermelon but they don't give us credit for being the original cowboys because they used to talk
Go get that cow, boy. That's how they used to talk to her. Go get that cow, boy. I don't know how historically accurate that is. This is me making up black history facts. You know where the world came from. Get you, go get the cow, boy. I'm telling you.
Hmm. I am a cowboy. I know your mistake. Don't be taking up no black history facts, boy. It's true. Trace the lie. You gotta trace the lie. You're taking up no black history facts. Oh my God. It's not even true. That's where cowboys came from. Everything else is history.
Literally. Well, they blaze and saddles when they was talking about the quicksand. He said, why don't you send some mules up here? They were saying, we ain't going to waste the mules. Send some of those niggas up there, right? We ain't going to waste the good mule. Oh, man, you know, brought back some historical pain, brother. The rest is history.
You got to know your history. And then somebody going to call in. You're right. Right. They only hear part of it, right? And they call it, is that where that case comes? This has not been authenticated. Yes, yes. This is a subjection from Brother Ride Out. I'm trying to tell you that they call this boy. They sent us out to get the cow. And that's how it all started.
But you know what and I see it all the time man, and this is probably his work. This is probably more ubiquitous ranch dressing You do know that ranch dressing was developed by a black man
in Alaska. Yeah. He ended up selling it was Hidden Valley. Yeah. He sold it. Yeah. But it was a black man. BW3. The whole wing. Yeah. The wings thing. Yeah. You say BW3's. Buffalo Wings. Buffalo Wings sauce, right? Yeah. Yeah. No.
The wing sauce. No, the buffalo wing sauce was started. Oh, yeah, the dude in Buffalo. Dude in Buffalo there. That's correct. Sorry about that. Let me fall back, yeah. Don't hit that cow, boy. Don't bring them on back. Let me think about that today. I'm telling you, man. Y'all think I'm choking. And the rest is history. And that's where we got the term cowboy. And they figured, you know what?
Should I look it should I look it up to see what Okay, I'm gonna do that Oh You know what one of the things I pride myself on is we try to be as accurate as possible You know, it's gonna be crazy. It's gonna be right. Look it up It's like dookies. Yeah, yeah, you know, it's like that's where that came from
Excuse me, man. I'm telling you, man. We was the original Cowboys, man. And they took that from us, man. Like they took our music, our shoestrings and everything else. I just felt like I had to let that ride, man. What music did they take? Rock and roll. Little Richard said, he invented it and they never gave me nothing. He said that at the Grammys. They never gave me nothing. And I created it. They took that.
Elvis Presley took that from a black dude that had a whole record on Elvis liked his sound his style and took that was when Pat boom Pat boom did the little Richard song Yeah, yeah, yeah, so he was like I'm the originator I created that they'll never give me and here's the thing I like about Pat boom
He ain't sitting there being apologetic. He's like, yeah, I did it. It's a great song. I made some money from it. I mean, but you see that when you take it and you put your face on it, that's just like that one lady. I forgot it was house music, but she was a fat garsher. I got the power, her. Okay. They didn't want her on videos. They didn't want her on nothing because one of her looks, so they took the song and the style and sold it.
For his being somebody else. That's he see music. That's he see music factor. Yeah That's what happened to LL Cool J2 the the one song he made with the I'm doing it. Yeah, doing the lady. She would they said she Yeah, yeah Don't touch that. I'm not ain't gonna need it. But but they say that she would have he said to Yeah, yeah, they said she would have he said to doing it Well, I think I think yeah, because once those songs came out we're in the video age. Yeah
And, okay, all right. You're listening to Community Voice. I'm going to look up where Cowboy came from. Ride Out might be right. We're going to take a quick break. We'll be right back. All right, welcome back. And of course, during the break, I did fact check.
A broken clock is right twice a day. All right. All right. The term cowboy comes from a combination of older English literal descriptions for cattle herding youths. The Spanish vaquero tradition and a complex racial history in American West. Let's get to write out the racial dynamics.
Historical research and social perspectives note that after the Civil War, white landowners often called white ranch hands cow hands. While African-American men working with cattle, many of whom were formerly enslaved and skilled in the trade, were pejoratively referred to as boys or cowboys, combining the racial slight with their occupation.
Right out was right. Right out was right. How about that? See? I think he looked up on that one. Look at that. Who would ever thunk that? Wow. Wow. He looked up on that one. Here's another reason to get angry.
Clark was and he was observing some kids and he said they don't play cops or robbers anymore and I was saying I don't think people do cowboys and Indians Yeah, but this is just how Program we were when you play cowboys and Indians was there anybody in who wanted to be an Indian? Being Paul Paul it wouldn't
I don't know. No, because then you had the police shows out there. When would have been the police show coming out when we were coming up? The FBI? You know what my play was? Elliot Nessler.
Oh, they're untouchable. Untouchable. I love me the untouchable. I like Dragonet and Hawaii Five-O. Hawaii Five-O. Book of Dano. I used to love Hawaii Five-O. And the McGarran had the greatest hair ever. It's all white. It's like it never fell out of my hair. No matter what that means. And as windy as it gets in Hawaii, it never, never moves. That end, I used to love watching Chip.
That was my you like chips. I love California Highway Patrol. I used to love chips. I don't know why. Chips, dragnet, a Y5 old. Those was my three tons right there. Say that again. I said dragnet. Dragnet.
Chips and Hawaii fire. I used to love when Jack Webb would try to drop some knowledge on you. He say some real slick afterward, you know Drop it real quick. You know, I'd be like drag that Adam 12 Adam 12 Adam 12. Adam 12 drag that Hawaii fire That's another person here with no good and it was one more than I used to watch. What about and this this was before your time mod squad
I remember that. I never saw that. Yeah, Clarence Williams III and Quincy Jones' ex-wife Peggy Lipton. Yeah. Oh, yeah. I used to like Miami Vikes too, man. Oh, Miami Vice was a game changer. Yeah, nighttime documentary. Oh, man, Miami Vice. Come on, NBC. It was perfectly timed based on everything that was going on. It had impact on style. Yeah. You know, everybody. The night that used to come on. Huh? With that Friday. Money through Friday. Money through Friday is all, oh, NBC.
Yeah, it came out every day. No, no, no. When the first started, they come on every day. Oh, well, I don't know about when the first started. When I started watching it, it came out every day, but it was on NBC. I know. I know it was a night that we made sure when we left, we went to play ball social center early and we made sure we got, you know, yeah, because when you when you watch it now that you can tell it was catered around the early 80s. Yeah, yeah.
and and and it was funny because it was I don't know if it was shot Miami Beach or if it's actually shot in Miami in Miami it looks like it was because when I went to Miami I was seeing some of the you know some of the exteriors like one of the places and I stayed there was the Clevelander which is a real popular hotel right on South Beach right up the street from Versace yeah they they still got the what is it
Flamingo. Mm-hmm. It's still there. Yeah, from blue. Yeah. Yeah. It's like, wow, that's that's that's North Miami. Yeah. Call the one to the program. Good morning. Oh, what about Kodak? Kodak. Oh, I used to love me. Oh, yeah. He kept that second. It was another one with that guy.
That was the detective heat. He had the eye Colombo Colombo. Yeah, Peter Fox. Yeah. He always figured out something. Well, if you if you remember the movie The Dirty Dozen, Telly Savalas played maggot. He was the bigoted crazy rapist, bald head. Yeah, and the dirty dozen.
Yeah, you know what I'd like barbie Jones because I barred me. I didn't like the politics of buddy Epson So he was so he was a private detective. Oh, we got my cannon Now I was watching cannon one night. He was chasing somebody when he got to the
Kennedy to get to the stairs the next day, you know, he had the top of the stairs. Yeah, because he could make those stairs. I ain't running up the stairs. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
Yeah, he go if you go like movies in the fifties He was in the movies in the fifties, but now he would I gave you another this is really old school, but it's still running on Me TV Highway Patrol with Robert Crawford and you could say it was so funny because with these screens like
When they ride in the car like riding in the car, you can tell it was the screen You'll see no trees like the 18 like when you watch the 18 it's like do it's so green screen I never understood the 18 because you'll start off shooting
Then you put the guns down and start fighting. It's like, wait a minute. B.A. Barakas. They're always building it. They're always building an armored tank. Armored cars. They show the cars overturners. Call them. Welcome to the program. Good morning. Good morning, chief. What up, Rick? Long time no talk to you. Yes, sir.
The sun always shines on television. But Americans watch so much television that they don't know what's going on in the real world. I'm Doug Fellows. All right. It is the version. Caller, welcome to the program. Good morning.
Oh, it's me again. Remember last week, I just asked about had you heard from him? Yeah, well, look at that. You talked him up. Yep, I'm glad because I was kind of worried about it. All right. Yeah, see, that's our that's our village, man. That's our community. Yeah. They asked by Angela and they asked by Rick. I was in the store yesterday and as I was paying for the item, I had to give my name and
The young lady goes, Keith Pierce from WNOV. I go, yeah, so let me shout her out. She said, oh, I listened to you. Like, aw. That's because you were saying this. Aw. No, but it's crazy because I never really knew how much of a reach. Well, I've always known since I was little because we was listening.
over at the house, but as I'm older and I'm walking up and I had this own and I wanted to restore it was talking about you and Michelle how y'all dynamic Like how y'all go back and forth and just the whole chemistry and they was like, uh, man, I I get up Every morning six o'clock take my shower and I'm glued to the radio to 11 o'clock Wow So that goes to show you man that
Man that people was really paying attention. Never a dull moment. Yeah, that is true. Yeah, and then people want to know Like they there's certain people who they they hear almost every day. Yeah, and they want to know what they look like they want to know do I know them and I go Man Our listening audience is diverse. Yeah in terms of people who listen but
I'm still tripping on what right out being right Just like I told y'all clouds weight a million pounds. Nobody believes me. It's dead. See one thing about me I clown a little bit, but I'm really smarter than the average bear ax yoga
You know and write out and that's why sometimes I call and I kind of get on get on the guy's case. Yeah, I don't really know. I realize how much influence that you guys and the power that if you guys actually have you may not realize that that
people really listen and actually follow y'all. So, you know, that's why sometimes I'm like, I gotta be careful what y'all put out there because y'all really have an influence. The guy, and I can't remember his name, so forgive me that Willie Wade took his place as Alderman. I cannot remember who that was. Khalif? No, Willie Wade took his place.
Oh, that was Fred Gordon. Was it Fred? Yeah, it was Fred. Okay, because, you know, because I know he used to come on the radio station, one of the guys. Yeah, it was Fred. Okay. And I got on him about that because he was putting some stuff out there. He got mad at me, but you see what ended up happening to him down to you. So that's why I say y'all, y'all hold a lot of power key. Y'all really do. And yeah, so y'all got to be careful how y'all wield that power.
because a lot of people really rely on y'all for information. Really? That's why. Well, let me throw this out here then. Y'all go vote. Yes, right. I know that's right. Go vote. Go vote. Go vote. Go vote. Take your nephews, take your nieces, take them. Bring the dog if you got it. That piece that you played the other day, Keith, that was really powerful and I don't know.
if you can or would you, but you should play that every day until election day. You talking about the interview? Well, he wasn't cussing, but he was calling me dummy and saying thank you. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Man, that was a strong piece. I don't know where you found that, but man, that was powerful, Keith. Yeah. And I have texts, I have posts on the show. Don't y'all fall for these republicans and our championship now? Yeah, I've seen that, yeah.
They knew better. They knew what they were doing. And now they're scared they're going to lose. They see some stuff like that. But don't y'all fall for that like that. They've had to change our heart. And they see the light now. They don't see the light. They want to stay and then keep them power up. They're going to keep on doing the same old things. Don't y'all fall for that.
I'm going to go drop it in the, in the, is it
What are you dropping those off? So you are so correct because I recall a caller calling in Asking me to ask Michelle What was her thoughts on a referendum so they can know how to vote? Yeah, so that's how powerful men at this station and this microphone that Keith and Michelle have That they can actually put people in position
to make life changing decisions, man. So, yeah. Right, right. Yana got really deep and heavy here. Yeah, he knows that. One thing I learned about change, he likes to joke a lot, but Keith knows that. And I heard, I heard how the callers say that he liked when me and Keith go back and forth, so I posted my thing.
I want my check. That's right. That's right. I'm coming up the whole Friday. All right. God bless y'all. Play with my emotions.
Wow, other cop shows. You know what? And me and Keon, Keon and Rhonda, they love those CSIs. But that's what it is in my mind is propaganda. It's propaganda where we're celebrating the police. And I think that I'm going to be neutral on it. But it seems like then it almost desensitizes us to
Some of the misbehavior that that people have out there, but I don't watch any of it You know, I don't watch a lot of episodic television. Anyway, so so what was 21 Jump Street and not on 210 like 21 Jump Street Yeah, that was Johnny Depp Yeah, but you know what really put them back on the map was the two movies
21 jumping 22 jump Johnny Depp was in the first one when he was on the cover. Remember they took the mask. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I didn't watch it when it was on. Um you know it wasn't so a 90210 is not a 90210 was more like
Almost like friends. It was an insombo 90120 is like is that mom? It's in California was zip code call it welcome to the program Good morning Yes, good morning. Thanks for taking my call. You're welcome My favorite cop show was in 1972 called the rookies with George
with the black dude. Yeah. Thank you. Black dude named George Sanford Brown. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. The rookie. Yeah. Yeah. The rookies. That's why that one all the time too. Yeah. The rookie. I've never heard of that. And it was interesting because it all it became the formula like the mod squad was one black dude. Yeah. One white dude and a woman the same thing. Yeah. Uh wasn't that the same thing with that? Yup. So what about uh so what's that uh start she
You know his son was a hell of a linebacker. Really? Antonio Farkas Jr. played for the Niners. He sure did. Yeah. So that was his son. That was his son. Yeah, that dude, that dude was a hell of a linebacker. Caller, welcome to the program.
Oh, good morning. Good morning. First thing I was going to ask you, you know, I was going to say you do a lot of great things, but it's okay to put your you're a pastor or a pastor. I'm an ordained Baptist minister. Okay, so you are ordained Baptist minister.
It's okay sometimes to put that to the side and get right guard with it. Dude, you preach it to the choir. You know, these people what they want because sometimes we can portray this image that we're too kind. And we always want to be the bigger person. We do not have to be the bigger person. Sometimes we should go beneath hell. Ow. Do you know what? Yeah. And I totally agree with you because there's a song out.
called try Jesus and not me because I fight. And this is how I am. You know, I tell him, hey, man, listen, I'm in church, I'm on the Oregon, but I will jump off the Oregon so fast and beat you up. I tell him, I'm not as saved as you want me to be. No, but I mean, there is actually some situations that I have. I mean, in my younger days, and I thank God, and I have grown.
but I have jumped off of keyboards at Oregon and beat a person up in church and got back on and said, Lord, forgive me. But I had to learn that that's not, you know, how you operate. But I tell people, man, you have a whole lot going on on that little Oregon school over there. Don't you? Waking up marriages. Busted heads. To the white man. You're talking about bringing the thug life. Don't try me because I fight. Try Jesus.
Not me, because I fight. So, Al, I'm with you. Because we're portraying this image with so night and time, and we take anything. And I think we should also push back on black Republicans, because we don't want young black men to go up to think it's OK to be a bad bug, a mattress, a doormat, to be a punching bag, or to be a fan nigger.
just for a white person to like you. You say Byron Donald has a chance down in Florida. No way. None of them. No way. And the third, and the third party is all these black Republicans, they ain't got no promotion. And then if you are a Republican that lives on Hampton, West Alice, or you live in low numbers, or like 532, any difficult, you should not be given no opinion because you are not about money.
you're trying to portray an image. And you cannot really guide people. And I can see if you were in Nackawicka Lake, Bristol Cone Pines, you are somewhere where it's very well, wealthy. You cannot really guide people. Only things you can do is guide yourself. And I think that can be catastrophic to black people, especially black men. And leave animals alone, zoonotics.
Hey, I have to agree with one of the previous colors in relation to
the reach that NOV has. You know, I've been listening to NOV since the call in number 7991668. And I was a regular caller, man. Commander McGee even had a name for me. So I went from one of the electives being talked about or talking about the electives to be one of them. So, you know, it's part of my morning routine. It has been
for at least two decades. Wow. Thank you. Yes, sir. And in relation to police shows, my favorite, especially as a music lover, was New York Undercover. Yes, sir. That intro? Uh-uh. The end of the program, where they had an understory. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Are you right? There was some people on there. You going like, hey! New York Undercover.
Was that the prettiest Puerto Rican dude you ever saw? He was so pretty. He played on something else? He played on something else. He played on a lot of stuff, man. Yeah, man. He was so pretty. You going like... I mean, not a talk show. He played in Blue Blood. He played on... Oh, he played on... I can't think of the sitcom. Yeah, he played on the sitcom. Before I let you guys go, could I make a music request? Let's go. Open our eyes to close the show. I got you.
It's been too long. It has been brother. Thank you. Well, thank you. Why are you looking at me like that? No, there was a sister and she said, yep, my mama want to hear that whole song. But do some regulations. Right. And what happens is we can do it over the air. We can't do it on Facebook and YouTube. So if you want to hear the song,
Come off of YouTube come off of Facebook and you're here on terrestrial radio. You're here through our Civic media app. You hear it and tune in so you know what I'm gonna do on on on on Thursdays and Fridays You know depending on the when we get off of the air I can end at any point Yeah, so if you if you in and in in the timely matter I could play the whole song but the reason why I've been
was, you know, those three bells have a meaning to it. What's the meaning? Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen. You're assuming I'm a Trinitarian? No, I am. Oh, you are. He says, don't push the buttons. They said, do, do from New York undercover also dance defeated with Michael Jackson. He did. But he was the prettiest Puerto Rican. God, he was so pretty. God had those eyelashes and... Tony, what's your name, Tony? Oh, man. You played on that...
on that show. I know what show you're talking about, but I can't think of the name of the show. I know what show you're talking about. New York Undercover. Yeah, I didn't miss New York Undercover that I watched. Well, we need to take a break, right? Yeah. Callers, I see you.
I ain't have to give out the number. You know the number? What's the number? You know the number? Like you to forget my number. Alright, 414-444-525-0, 414-444-525-0. We're gonna take a quick break and we'll be right back. Alright, welcome back.
The pretty Puerto Rican what they call him was Michael De Lorenzo. That was the guy that played detective Eddie and In the backstory to what the end of the program was that his father was a recovering addict who opened up a jazz club And so at the end you they had Nancy Wilson some of the people that they had so New York I want to can you go and find that man on YouTube or Netflix? I mean I'm sure yeah, New York undercover caller welcome to the program
Good morning. Hello. Hello. Are you ready? No. Yeah, we can hear you. What's happening? Hey, can you hear me? Yes. Hey, hey, hey, good morning. Hey, Keith. Yeah. Keith, do you remember? You know. Hello. Okay, remember that. If you say, do you remember?
Do you remember? All right. It is September. Carla, welcome to the program. Okay, listen. Okay, there we go. I've been listening to Peshawna. I called this morning and they were talking about the situation with the young man that was acting up mad. I'm gonna hang up on you too. Okay.
Don't try to justify it, bruh. Okay, listen to this here. What I don't understand is that what you got, I do understand it. You guys are basically political gang bankers, okay? And you want people to believe that you're really about that life, but really none of you guys have been really tested and tried the right way. And for most black people, then I hear the other caller that just called in before this last month.
He say every racist thing are just his own people, more so than the white boy would say publicly. That white boy probably will say some things, and he will say some things privately. But this people come on here, this person comes on here, and he.
ridicules and talk bad, say some of the most racist and handiest things about black people. And you get a plan that your guys laugh and giggle, which are political gangbangers that haven't been tested and tried for real for real. All most people got is that little funky vote that they take and put in a put it in the thing. And that's a part of where you go with this meat. Well, what I'm going with it, sir, is that
When I'm sitting down here listening to you guys, and it's all about a political, it's like a political bond that can't be broken. It bothers me when I hear first about a black Republican. What about a black Democrat? What about him? Well, I'm asking you. No, I don't have a problem with a black Democrat. Okay, but you got a problem with a black Republican. Sometimes.
And then you scream that you're a libertarian. A libertarian is really a conservative, you know, conservative base party. Yeah, well, the Republican party, the man who got so far away from libertarianism as part of their party. Do you know who the libertarian party is? Who's the libertarian party meets? Okay, well, I tell you what, I want you to do. Because I've been hearing you say you're a libertarian. I said to Keith, would he know what he's saying? No, probably not, it's Keith.
You can't know what you're saying when you claim a libertarian party, but you're against it. I didn't say libertarian party. You said you're a libertarian. I'm a libertarian in terms of I believe that you should have the right to do whatever you want to do as long as you don't harm someone else.
Well, that right there has nothing to do with it. And so then when you talk about the Republican Party, who wants to tell women what they can do with their bodies, they want to tell parents what they can do with their children's bodies. That is not libertarian. They told us they must don't get down there and take that shot. They're going to lose their job. And they was in line to get the shot. They had no control over their bodies. OK, so would you please enlighten us what a libertarian is? I just told you.
No, no, no, no. From my perspective, I'm not talking about it from a political perspective. That's what you always claim, you say. No, that ain't what I always claim. That is not what I always claim. I try to be as politically agnostic as possible, right? I try to be religiously as agnostic as possible, but it's hard, you know, because it's part of our culture, it's part of our world. But no, I'm not gonna, I just believe people have the right to, people have the right, people have the right. Yes.
people have the right to do whatever they want to do as long as it doesn't harm anyone else. Well, that's, that's, that's, uh, uh, uh, that's just, uh, I mean, that has nothing to do with the libertarian. Yes, it does. That's what the libertarians say. Brother, I'm not talking about the libertarian party. I'm saying that part of it was if you looked at someone, if you looked at someone like Goldwater,
Goldwater believed in states rights. Goldwater was also a libertarian because if you go to a Planned Parenthood Federation meeting, they have an award for Republicans who are like Barry Goldwater when he came to abortion rights because his daughter got pregnant in college. She wanted to finish college. He took her across state lines for her to have an abortion. And that's why in Planned Parenthood they have that award for Barry Goldwater.
because he's saying you shouldn't be able to tell a woman what she should or what she can and cannot do with her body. Well, what I'm simply saying to you is who you love. Well, I think the people want to know now what a libertarian with the libertarian. Oh, you want to know? I was just saying, you know, I was just because you don't want the people to know that that that extends to that extends to the practice in my religion.
And whether you agree with my religious choice, I have the right to practice that religion. That's what it's saying. So what do you think about this Islamic faith? They have the right to practice their religion freely in America. America is a secular country. You have the right to practice your religion. Okay, go ahead. I'm listening. No, I just said it.
No, you just said listen, so I didn't say listen I say you have the right to practice your religion whether it's Islam whether it's Buddhism whether it is Overshadowing and have a have a they're on a crusade to conquer this America. They're not on the crusade to conquer America numerically Listen to some of the rhetoric and some of the dogma that I am more concerned about white Christian nationalist
trying to hijack America than I am about Islamics, trying to conquer America. Okay. You're concerned about white Christian nationalists, but you, but you, but you're a Christian. That's correct. But you're an agnostic as well. No, I'm not an agnostic. Well, you said you want to be agnostic when it comes to not taking an opinion one way or the other or position one way or the other. Now, again, I violate that a lot because I do have opinions.
Thank you You got you got you got to stop it man Too much from it, but anyway, I called in because I heard that always ragging the black Republicans and never say nothing about the black Democrats and if he own the house I'm giving back All right, man. Appreciate you. I got another caller. Yeah, thank you Come in
I worried about Muslims. I'm worried about some of the Christians and the policy some of these Christians are putting forward. Yeah, some of these some of these white Christian cats that they claim that they love Jesus but doing everything. Oh, I believe they love white Jesus. Yeah, but they but they doing everything opposite of what black Jesus would have done. Right.
or real jesus call the one to the program uh hey good morning how you guys doing today good what's happening i mean i i like to uh i kind of uh tune in a little late uh uh maybe keep you may know uh we're kind of close to the same age same age you remember uh a show called long street yeah yeah long street
He was easier I guess his wife was cured. He ended up being blind. He had a white genus shepherd. Yeah, oh, yeah Boy, you know what's crazy about this we only have four channels then Right I want to ask I want to ask right out and I want to ask you a question to keep okay, why don't you say it uh Byron Donald I can't stand that guy, but you said uh
You say he doesn't have a chance, but he did plan a lot of tulips now. Yeah, he did down the trunk. Yeah. Yeah, he did. How, however, he was just a front man for, you know, Trump's policies, but they go Trump will all overdue because one, you like, you don't stand a chance, man. Like, you know, I wouldn't in Florida, though, you know, he is in Florida. So yeah, but didn't he run for something else?
And they didn't know he was putting trying to he was already he was a us representative Yeah, and he thought he was gonna be a vice president right right right yeah, and they looked at him. It was like surprise me How much did you trust these polls that are going out here like in like the telewico in Texas? I just don't
I don't know if I really trust these polls. I mean, we're going to find out soon enough. But as far as I'm saying, he may have a, you know, like, I don't know what a 4 percentage points are leaving. Some of these battleground states was really close. We may have been dominated by Republicans. I just wouldn't know. Do you really trust these polls that are going up? Yeah, I think we have learned that. I'm going to hang up. I'm going to hang up and listen. Thank you all you guys. Thank you. I think we have to take it with a grain of salt.
in terms of what we hear, in terms of polling, especially when it gets around you polling and races involved, that's where it gets real tricky, right? Because white people will lie to posters because they don't want to appear to be racist even though they are racist on white people. And so I think that that's it. But I said, you know, you go on the public polling, but watch the reaction of the different
like the Senate Campaign Committee, the House of Representatives, they're doing a whole level of polling, right? Internal polling, polling that most people do not know. Those polls are never made public. I think we saw an example that this is what I believe. I can't prove it, but this is what I believe. This is what happened when Francesca Hahn was out and they were doing some internal polling saying that, ooh, this is going to be tough.
And so that was one of the things. So they're doing all of these campaigns are doing their own polling, right? It is campaign time is Christmas, you know for all these political consulting companies, especially those who conduct polls. So yeah, you have to take it with a grain of salt. I just put up Byron Donald and statistically it is a dead heat. There's a toss up now and according to the Hill. They said here this was on YouTube a month ago.
Let's do some recently. They're saying here that Byron Donald and David Jolly, Byron Donald, this is Florida politics. Byron Donald is at 44%. David Jolly is at 43%. So statistically, they are tied. So now this turns into a margin election and a turnout election.
You know black Jesus white Jesus Jesus never preached do harms. So I don't know what Jesus they are following You are eating watermelon rye, I still ain't messing with watermelon, you know Yeah, so we'll see but I think It's let's say that's 43 43 that would be 44 8 so
You got about a 12% undecided group out there. I don't know if Florida has a lot of independence, like Wisconsin doesn't have a lot of independence. So we'll see, but those statistically, again, turnout is going to be key, right? And so if you get a strong turnout in some of the African American communities, it could sway.
It also depends on where the Latino vote is going down in Florida. So not beyond the Cubans. We know the Cubans are going to be very supportive of Republicans, but you have Puerto Ricans. You have I shouldn't say Hispanic, but you have Haitians. So there's some people there who could certainly they're going to be part of it. So it's really in play. We'll see what happens with that.
Now there's going to be some white people. They could be good. Republicans could not see themselves ever voting for a black man. I don't know what that percentage is. But I thought it was interesting that Meach almost took offense to Al going after black Republicans. And I do have people friends who are black Republicans. I don't think they subscribe to a lot of the extreme.
positions of the Republican Party. I do believe when I've had conversations with them, they honestly came to some of the positions that they take. And so, yeah, we'll see. Angie Nixon, I just got a fundraising. Somebody sold my number and I'm getting, I get solicitations all day long for people trying to raise money on the Democratic side.
in terms of trying to make the money. So we'll see. I think Wisconsin, I think it's going to be a turnout election. If we have a real strong turnout in Milwaukee, like we did in 2024, now there was some other things that kind of, what would you say, kind of countered that strong turnout in Milwaukee was that there was some
white male voters who normally wouldn't vote who voted in 2024. I think that you're seeing, I think you're seeing where there are a lot of people who voted for Trump who are souring on Trump.
And now they're they're being able to do buyer's remorse. I think again, and I started it off with that all of a sudden now you have certain Republicans who have Cajones and they're pushing back on Donald Trump. They're seeing the numbers. They're seeing the numbers. Now, people would like to think Donald Trump is one of the most unpopular presidents. Actually, though, at the end of his term.
Harry Truman polled at 22%. But when you look at where, and it's not like you're seeing any up in terms of Donald Trump, his numbers are going down. He's on a downward spiral. I think people are beginning to see that the decisions that, and I wouldn't call them policies, because policies in my mind are usually thought out.
This dude wakes up on a whim and say, here's what we're going to do. And then he goes, and he has the attention span of a nap. And so we're moving on. And so all these things, and I think people begin, and you're feeling it. There's one thing, like Michelle was talking about with black folks. And remember, I used to kid me, just to meet you need to be careful. Because ice, you look like you Puerto Rican. Yeah.
And even though Puerto Ricans are American citizens for ICE, they don't know the difference, right? So, but now when it begins to impact me, like, oh, yeah, because that's how it works. That's how it works. So you can't because in your mind is not directly, you know, this is what a lot of these Hispanic voters are realizing. See, at first I just thought he was going to get the criminals off the street.
And that's the whole other piece that we have. There's a certain level of ethnic self-hatred we have, right? And so we do it with black folks. Like, you know, we condescends on certain black folks because the way they might be living with the economic status, their educational status, black folks do that too. The problem with that is that once you start separating them, you
Allow other people to write to go in and say we can treat them any kind of way because even their own people don't care about yeah Well, how how he's doing this whole thing is he's paining as okay that we gonna get all of the criminals out of here all of the illegal criminals, but the loophole is You can fall into that too. So
First of all, ain't that many criminals that part. So that's that's statistically. So then you have to go because it still plays to a certain base. There's a still a certain base in this country who are very xenophobic, who are all what they call a nativist and they they feel like America is for America, which always find amazing because other than First Nation people, certain European groups and African people.
If you're a poll, if you're an Italian, if you're an Irishman, if you are, and even some Germans, you got here well after African people were here. Now, and with this whole new thing that they're letting in these South African white people that they're letting in, if you notice, everybody that's been deported from Puerto Rican to Mexicans. Not Puerto Rican. Puerto Rican is US citizen.
I mean, black people are U.S. citizens, but they've fallen into it. They reported us. What? Where'd they go to report us to? Well, no, no, no, no. It was just it was just a black dude that said that he was deported to Haiti. He's not even from Haiti. Oh, they were sent in and this caught some of the white people here. They ended up sending them to a nation in Africa now. But the but the crazy thing about it, who you know, will never get deported.
is white skin. So, everything outside of white skin is subject to be deported. And what is the number one violation of immigration law? People over stand their visas. What would those people look like? Man, whites. Yeah, four minutes. Carl, welcome to the program.
414-444-5250, 414-444-5250. Hey, you're listening to Community Voice, call ICU. I'm going to grab you right after the break. We'll be right back.
Alright, welcome back. I'm looking at this place. You can drop your laundry off 90% less hot water. Some of these clothes need to be done in hot water. Call it. I wouldn't trust nobody else to do my laundry. Do do my own draws. They're going to clean my drawings. Call it up to the program. Good morning. Hey, Keith. Hey, I'm just curious because I didn't need to always talk about the Mexicans.
And you guys were just talking about just a few minutes ago, Crowley. But I wonder how he feels, because I've never heard him mention this, about these white South Africans that Trump has led into this country. And if I'm not mistaken, and it could be more, it's me paying $4,500 and giving them housing and stuff like that. And then he just signed an executive order to let even more of them in this country.
So I wonder how he feels about that, since he said people are trying to destroy and take over our country. Trump is trying to make this country white. And if they don't realize by now that Trump is a racist, he may not say it out loud, but his actions prove that he is a racist. So when I say- He had a black girlfriend. So what do that mean? Oh, okay. The other Japanese didn't have a black, getting all they had, black slaves that they was bumping.
I'm trying to use it as a nice way. But they had, that's what they were doing right. Slipping out into the slave quarters. So what difference do that make? And is that really true? We had a black girl friend. I've never Googled it. But who cares anyway? Well, George, listen, let them come over because they gonna get a taste of this sweet black bear meat and they ain't gonna never go back.
But they trying to see how quickly we get all color. When I say people of color, I don't mean just black people. I mean, people that's not white. And you see what they're doing. I don't care who it is. They're trying to get everybody out of this country. That's not white. So you better be careful because even Byron Donaldson, they were talking about Byron Donaldson. I was watching Happy Phillips last night.
Even Byron Donaldson was trying to run away from Trump now. They know better and they knew better. And so, I'm surprised that Meach ain't open his eyes yet. I guess Meach ain't gonna go down with this ship. I guess he ain't gonna give up. I guess when they gave him that money for that little radio show he had for a minute, I guess it just really blew his head up and he can't get over it. They used you, brother. They used you.
Yeah, I don't know when you're gonna get over that they used your brother to try and poison our community Yeah, hey, and it's it's funny that he even said that because I was looking on Facebook and this and it's a young man on there I'm not even gonna call his name because it ain't even worth it But he's pushing so hard for this Republican thing and he posted how Donald Trump gave HBC use a certain amount of millions right so I'm like
Bro what you don't understand is this whole playbook is give a little take a lot. So if I give you a piece of cake and I take the rest of the cake What did I really give you? See them saying so, I mean you got people that's looking at oh, well, he's gonna give us five thousand. He's gonna give us fifteen hundred. Yeah, he'll give you a little but then he's taking away Everything else
Give a little take a little yeah a little take a lot I should say I'm not even gonna do because it's one of my favorite I saw this video a couple years ago on YouTube And I'm not even gonna do it. I'll tell Jereen and Clark off the It was one of those things where it was so
It pushed back on our Christian orthodoxy and it was it was good. Call her up to the program. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning, sir. How you doing? I'm good. Hey, I got a It's like a honeybee trying to convince the fly that honey is better than you know what
So some people to call your radio station not gonna see it no matter what it's like that be in that slide Goodbye Someone was talking to me about a preacher was up preaching and you know, you got some you got some you got some words that will elicit a response, right and I guess the preacher was talking about the hypocrites
and all the response that that preacher got when they used the term hypocrite. And I pointed out to the person that I was talking to, I was saying because the people who were applauding then see themselves as hypocrites, they saw me as the hypocrite. Here's how it works, y'all. When, as I'm up, or someone else is up,
and they really get in your video, you don't get up and clap. As a matter of fact, you become sullen, you get quiet. So when people up applauding, that's because they feel like the person ain't talking about them, they talk about them other ones. And sometimes it's talking about me, right? And I ain't jumping up applauding my feelings.
As it were but I will applaud writeouts feelings So that so you see that like I said, there's certain buzz things because you know, he ain't talking about me Yeah, he might be he might be don't be putting it on Somebody asked to stop saying amen and say a me, right? Cuz this is this is a tough one and that's when it it gets eerily quiet always gets eerily quiet
Because now it's kind of where you are not and so I mean I know it's part of the craft You know when people doing that and usually the hypocrites are my enemy not me And then even how we use the word hypocrite because hypocrite is a person who says Something else or want other people to do certain things that they don't do themselves
Now, we can get into some other behaviors and make sure that we properly label that behavior. A lot of times, it's not hypocritical behavior, unless you're going and you're doing a very general extrapolation and saying, well, because I'm a Christian, I do this, this makes me a hypocrite. No, I think what makes you a hypocrite is that you say one thing or require things of other folks. For example, it's hypocritical for Republicans
To put out legislation or policies or laws that impact negatively on the lgbtq community When many of them are closeted members of the lgbtq community That might be hypocritical or or how this guy Byron, what's his name Byron down okay the black guy in Florida
burning down. He was saying how when he was younger, he made some mistakes. He sold drugs and all this other stuff. No, not the drugs. Yeah, he sold drugs and he got in trouble, but he got a second chance. But this new bill that this bill that he's pushing and given second chance and give it. So they asked him about it and this guy walked away from they asked. Oh, it's Thomas taking preferential admission into Yale Law School.
but then having a problem with it once he leaves Yale Law School blocking any other or trying to block any other person who looks like him for getting the same preferential treatment he got. That would make you a hypocrite. Caller, welcome to the program. Thank you. Good morning, Rick. I am a hypocrite in terms of pushing a vegetarian, vegan lifestyle while I am consuming
All the meat they said in front of me here in Germany But you laugh but I was poisoned with an intestinal parasite for my own flesh and It it makes you crave the very thing that's killing you So even though I'm doing the wrong thing and I'm dying slowly I Push the best for the rest of you guys
And those of you who can accept it, that lifestyle of vegan, vegetarian lifestyle, more power to you. I'm Doug Buserman. I appreciate you. I was listening to Karen Hunter, and they got to talking about meat. And she was saying, oh, well, that ain't me, because I ain't eating any meat and dah, dah, dah, dah, dah. I applaud those people who have been able to give up meat. I applaud you.
Yeah, that's a hard thing, man. I'm a carnivore. And I'm sure it's just a matter of one changing one's taste. But I think Paul hit it on the head where he said moderation and all things. And the problem sometimes isn't that you had a piece of cake.
It's the fact you ate the whole cake. Yeah, that's the problem much of that. Let the piece of cake. Yeah, Carla. Welcome to the program. Good morning. Hello. Hey, I'll give you two top shows, but they was dirty cops. The shield. The shield. Chicago PD. In Chicago PD. How many of y'all watch Blue Bloods? I've never watched it.
I'll watch it only because they show it on reruns all day long. Oh, okay. You watch it reruns? Yeah, in a new series. Limited on when you watch. Okay. You know they got a new series out, right? Which one? Boston Blue. Oh, Boston Blue. Yeah. Okay. But that, the shield, oh man, they were so good. Oh, the shield was, the shield was, whoa. What the, what the wire? Would that fit into that?
the wire uh no because they had a balanced streets no but they had a balance between the work that the wire is based on the wire taps that they were doing that was the police every season was focused on it there one of the seasons was the drug bill there's one season the police the difference the other and then it was the unions yeah yeah but i'm saying but it was still those those folks who were there
You know, you had cops and then you had drug dealers. So would that be considered a crime show? Yeah That's that's interesting Chicago PB. Hey boy, he don't get hey, he don't get Oh, yeah, that's that's key. Yeah, that's key. I was boy Chicago PD kind of remind me of the shield though.
