Wisconsin's Political Showdown: Tiffany vs. Crowley Debate Drama

David Crowley committed but Tiffany hasn't or didn't Now that just raises a couple of red flags for me one Why wouldn't Tiffany want to debate David Crowley?

Two if you look at some of the ads that are being running and not being run now I don't know you know based on the last opinion poll that Marquette did They had Crowley up five points with likely voters. They were even with registered voters and So my question is why doesn't Tom Tiffany want to be on the same stage as David Crowley now

based on some of the ads that I see running, you know, in terms of appealing, and they're not even dog whistles. I mean, they're just out and out. It's racist. I use these words xenophobic. You know, they run a commercial and this is not the Tiffany campaign. It's a group support in the Tiffany campaign where they said that they show what was happening at State Fair Park. And then they talk about how

David Crowley Just raised taxes Okay So we're not even let's fact check this just for a moment first of all David Crowley can only raise taxes at the maximum at 2% Just about every governmental agency County municipality school board has gone in for tax increases because the state

either through the revenue sharing piece or underfunding education is not giving them enough. So you see, you know, we had two or three referendums just in Milwaukee County and it wasn't just Milwaukee. The other thing then they say is that then David Crowley is going to basically put Milwaukee in the state. And again, you had that image of those young kids fighting down at State Fair Park.

So either there's some internal polling telling Tiffany that hey, you know You probably just want to coast through do the attack ads Ride it through do not go face-to-face Because at some point Tom Tiffany will have to talk about his record and that's what he doesn't want to do He doesn't want to talk about his record because his record has been clearly supportive of Donald Trump

My hope is Donald Trump comes to Wisconsin, but Tom Tiffany is gonna probably politely say no, sir We're okay because Whether Tiffany likes it or not Trump is on the ballot Trump is on the ballot and everything that he's doing and the devastating impact his policies are having on many of his voters and Tom Tiffany has been supportive

Many if not all of the policies So I just thought it was curious where you wouldn't want to do a debate and almost gets back to the movie that DJ always refers to Where You know, what is it God, it's the Chris Rock movie Head of State

Oh, head of state. Yeah. Yeah. And he's trying to bait this. This white candidate looks like Tom Tiffany into debating him, but he don't want to debate him. And finally, when he insulted his mama, then he so maybe that's what she do because Tom Tiffany's mama is in his commercials. Is she? Yeah. Yeah. They, they, oh, man, they soft touch this dude where, you know, you, you have no sense of his far right policies.

As a congressperson. So yeah, and then they put his mom in and and the whole thing. Oh man, just this family guy, you know, it's like, ah, so I think that it's important and You're hearing this. This is going to be a turnout election And and so it really really saw all these folks here in Milwaukee Dane County The turnout in Milwaukee in Dane County is going to be real important

And trust me if we have another snafu like we had on election night for primary Then that's gonna give the Trump administration ample ammunition to come in and say that the election was rigged So I just thought that a little piece of it. I don't know if that most people saw that but at this point there is no televised debate And I don't know if Tom Tiffany is going to now again if the polling show so

I had a question, Keith, that he's behind. We were just talking in the lobby. And they're saying that same date, if you will, as the Milwaukee Bucks opener, there is a debate. Is this the one that you're saying is canceled? Really? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Wisconsin Broadcasters Association, October 9th. No, they're talking October 21st or something like that. They spoke to. No, I think channel 12. All for a debate.

Because I think the Bucks game start the season start early. Is that a preseason game? No, I'm thinking they're saying it's a home opener October 21st, right? Is there a debate scheduled for that date? No, hold on. Wait a minute. The Republican Congress in Thomas

Tom, Tiffany, and Democratic Milwaukee County executive David Crowley, a scheduled to face off and televised gubernatorial debate on Wednesday, October 21st, though a traditional debate hosted by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association for October 9th was recently canceled. So he still will debate. It's just not through the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association. Okay, but it will be televised on channel 12. Yeah, could be. Can I say something?

And I just want to ask why did Channel 12 put that on October 21st? Because it is the season opener for the Milwaukee Bucks regular season. The game come on at six o'clock. And they own regular TV. Yeah. They own regular TV. So I'm like, I mean, I don't know and it may be a real explanation for why. Yeah. But when you talk about

messing with your ability to get that out. Well, why would you pick that particular day? It's just I'm like out of all of the days leading up to it. The Bucks home opener. The only reason well, no, they because that so the home opener is Friday. No, it's I thought the home opener is Friday, but the season opener. That first game is not home for the regular season.

Open or not? Well, it's the regular season. It's the regular season opener, but it's not home game. It's in Washington. Yeah, the home game is going to be that Friday. So I'm like, y'all going to do it between that Wednesday and that Friday? You're going to do it on a Monday. You're going to do it on Tuesday. I just thought it was the, like I said. You can do it on Monday. Or a Tuesday. He said, you, you what? You can't do it on Monday. A Tuesday, Monday night football. Oh, that's Monday night football. I'm just saying. Well, Monday night football is a little bit better. It is. The buck's open. Yeah, yeah. That's Milwaukee. No, no, no. I get it.

It's just a whole thing of the sports spectrum. And then though you have this whole debate, so now you people are going to pick and choose to what they're going to watch. Particularly since the Bucks game will already be on. It will be an hour in when they start the live debate. I just think those people that are big Bucks fans, white or black, whatever, big Bucks fans, you're.

And to me, a lot of the folks you need to help turn out, because turnout is going to be key in this race, you're going to need a lot of brothers to show up. Yeah, well, but I don't think that that's channel 12's responsibility. I think that's the candidate who is supposed to be asking about the timing. And I just want you to know what I'm saying is if you're talking about turnout.

That that even if I'm channel 12. I want to get as many people eyes on my that's the whole purpose Okay, now watching it. That's different. Yeah, if I'm telling everybody had a vested interest in trying to get the most Attendance or eyes on the show as possible exposure and thank you. Thank you. Happy this though. Nobody watching the book on January 13th or something and and what they gonna do and they plan the number one pick

which is AJ. So people going to want to watch to see what AJ going to do. Even if you're not a Bugs fan, you're going to watch the number one play. OK. Look, all I'm saying is that that was the campaign's responsibility to ask the question, why is that? And Channel 12 better have a damn good reason for why you went with October 21st. You know what? I don't think, first of all, now.

If it was the Packers playing because of the statewide piece with the Packers, yes, I think because it's the Bucks. The Bucks is a different looking team now. But that's me. So anyway, let me stand corrected. There will be a debate. It just won't be on October 9th.

It'll be on October 21st. And I will say this quickly. We were talking about it and there's been a commitment from Michelle as well as Doug. We're going to try. We're going to ask to see if we can get both candidates to come on this show or one of our shows and just do a heart to heart on restream or however we run it, whatever they commit to, just so that we give them a chance to reach our viewers and our listeners.

So yeah, they were showing that Dennis and and all of them showed up to the funeral and how they got together and sang one line. It was very moving documentary. If you get a chance, certainly check it out. The backstory behind, you know, that whole making of that movie. And I didn't realize it was such a flop. They lost money on that movie. Yeah, it became more video.

Yeah. Video main. So you have some movies out there man, theatrically. Nobody go see it. And then VHS. Pick it up. Back in the day. Yeah. DVD put a whole lot. There's a movie called The Stepfather. for a lot of people and many voters are low they call low propensity low information voters so they're going to hear what they fear at here and the other thing is you exploit fear right so this idea uh that you know he's going to export Milwaukee to the rest of the state you know for some people now I don't know why that's so fearful um but I have a question it's Wednesday

I wonder how much of this when you see, you know, like these takeovers, when you see the kids out fighting either downtown or Water Street or State Fair, I think it's a little bit more sinister. I kind of believe that there are purposely organizing kids to do this in order to create these pictures.

But Keith I kind of believe you're you're going down a slippery slope because And I want to make sure that I'm prefaced in the right way when you when you look at the incident I mean they use clips from this most recent state fair incident To blame Crawley, yeah, calling them soft on crime, but but he's not responsible for crime No, and he's certainly not and actually

The the people responsible for the state fair is the state police. They have a whole state fair police force. Well, they put it out there that it and it happened in West Dallas. And they said, but then the officer, you know, you know, they was painting this picture that Crowley is the person that's fun. You know, it's soft on crime. Then they put it in the corner. If you pay attention to it, an officer gets punched. And then after they say that, they say, do you want that for Wisconsin? A soft.

Person on crime make so crop It's not again like Keith said he's not responsible for crime. I mean these attack ads Some of them are quite toothless if you will yeah Yeah, and I think by the time you're going in corrected. It's too late. Damage is done. Yeah, so let's pick it up. And these are like professional agitators. So I just wonder, you know, how much of that and then how, then that is being used, right? and I might be overestimating, but it was a good crowd. She was there. And all I could think was, why would she have like little pamphlets or something like that to put inside the book bags, go to hand out to... Oh, she can't do that. Oh, they can't? No. Oh. Oh. Well, she, she gave a little presentation, but I thought, why couldn't she do that? No. Like campaign on behalf of her spouse, Michelle Obama, dude.

I don't think for that event people were there to get books. Oh, you know and he's showing up to or she's showing up to show support But I don't think that and I don't know it gets into 501c3 stat there. There's a lot There's a reason why that that didn't happen I don't put up any signs for anybody I know I and I and I don't

I don't, I try to be in this space and I don't give to political campaigns. I've been getting a lot of solicitations, but as much as I can. You vote? Oh, yeah. Yeah. Okay. I just, I don't see it as my responsibility to campaign for folks that.

I just That's one of the reasons why I don't do it No, no, no, I just I I think That it's not for me to say who people should vote for and so it's up to the candidates Whoever they come in to be able to make their case and they don't need any editorial editorializing from me

in terms of what we do. So I don't look, I have not missed an election since 1983. I voted every election. So no, I just don't, I think, you know, because then people come back and go, well, you know, he gave $500 to the Jermaine Rideout campaign. So I don't know how you could be fair. And then I have to even be careful, even in talking about the government.

governor's race because I have a business relationship with the county. So technically, David Crowley would be my boss. So, um, no, I just don't do it. Okay. I just wanted to ask for the conversation about the yard sign. I found that it was, it's kind of eerie spooky, but then I know Milwaukee will turn out. I just don't want to take it for granted that they're counting on our votes. And then when I saw his spouse, I was like, why is he?

No leg room, they reduced the leg room that you have in there so they can get more people on the plane. Man, it will almost look like we're in India. You see people in India on the trains where you got people riding on the top of the train and hanging all out. That's how I feel like when you get in, it's like, yeah, what? But shout out to the brother. And just so you are right out at ask the question about black on airlines.

and Warren Hervey Wheeler on Wheeler Airlines, which was the first black-owned commercial airline certified by the FAA in the United States. Who was Warren Wheeler? As noted by the Sullenberger Aviation Museum in 1969, Warren Hervey Wheeler founded Wheeler Airlines. He was born in Durham, North Carolina, in 1943. He became the first black pilot for Piedmont. I remember Piedmont Airlines in 1966.

It started as Wheeler Flying Service, offering training in charter flights. The airline grew to connect small towns, major cities, including Routes to New York, Atlanta, Atlantic City. It helped train many black pilots and open doors in the aviation industry before closing in 1991. So thank you.

That's our responsibility because obviously if you're thinking other people are going to give you your history accurately, you're deceiving yourself, right? This whole thing with white supremacy is real. And that's what we're going to. That's what they're appealing. That's all they have because the policies are bankrupt. Republican policies are bankrupt.

and in some ways are bankrupt in the country. That big beautiful bill was gone in and given away all these taxes and now you gotta figure out how do we gain revenue? Because we give a tax cut, that means taxes are not coming in. At the same time, you have a government to run. So right now, they're nibbling around the edges. One of the things they do is you go in, you don't cut the program, right? You don't cut it. What you do is you make it more difficult to be eligible for the program.

Which is a cut Pretty much right, you know, and so those are the games that people play or that the real health care Changes won't kick in until January 1st, right? Right and so for a whole lot of Republicans they they support that remember we were talking about the Republican Party one of the things with the Republican Party smaller government let's taxes let's regulations Right because for Republicans if it don't make dollars it don't make sense

So we kind of run around and then they'll get some of us off here on the social issues, right? We'll be over here talking about this, but look at your pocketbook. You got a war right now. They just said that the price of a barrel of oil is going over $100. But at some point that's translated into what you pay at the pump or the cost of transporting goods. You know, you go in the store now and you just like, oh my God, it ain't even sticker shock anymore.

Right? You numb. It's like, well, what did I get that cost this much money? So if you don't think that elections matter and that voting matters and not, and here's the other piece of it. And I'm down with Michelle with this. You need to know the issues. You need to know the issues. You know, you just, I appreciate your anger, appreciate your anger, but you need to know what you're angry about. You know, Keith?

And I was listening to some cases where people were putting their parents in nursing homes and all this kind of stuff. And they had assets, okay? They may be in that nursing home six months, maybe two years, and then they're gone, okay? So that money's not getting ate up. And they think different than we do. That figure.

And they figured out the rest of us, too. If you 80 years old, you don't live a good life. You don't live long enough. You don't need nothing else. And he's cutting so much stuff. Where is the money that he was paying these people that he cut off their jobs? Where is that money? Stop giving this man money. And where is Mitchell? Where is Mitchell Connell? Where is he? And you're here to talk about a very special event. You guys are having on September 24th. So welcome to Community Voice. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for having me this morning. No problem. So tell us, what y'all got going on? Man, so you know, every year we normally do our annual luncheon. Okay.

put that back, there we go. And this year, I say, you know, instead of doing the luncheon where we have a guest speaker and all of that, let's do something that's really going to be impactful for our businesses. So we decided to do what we're calling a procurement boot camp to teach businesses that either are wanting to get into procurement or are in procurement, but just need to kind of strengthen their skill. No, we hear that word procurement. Explain that to maybe some folks who don't know what that is. Absolutely. So procurement is the process for accessing a kind.

So it's one thing for me to come to you and say, hey, you know what? You have a business. I have a business. We want to, you know, let's do business together. Procurement is a formalized systematic way of contracting. And most medium to large businesses and corporations have procurement teams or people that are responsible for carrying out that work. So when we talk about this and you're saying a boot camp,

That's a little bit different. What does a boot camp look like? So it's a boot camp. You come, you bring your laptop, you bring your tools that you have, and we sit down and we'll actually be doing interactive work. We'll be doing actual work. You know, you do this. So what do you see as some of the things that require remediation when we have, and we're talking about black businesses?

What are some of those things that has to be fixed as they're trying to pursue procurement? Yeah, so they need to know what they don't know. I think there's a lot of information out there about how to do it. There's a lot of snippets. There's a lot of quote unquote experts, but they aren't really breaking down all of the tools from A to Z. And I feel like especially for our black owned businesses, we need to understand the tools that are necessary and then make sure that we're implementing them accordingly and getting the help.

that we need from actual experts so that we are successful in securing those contracts. It's the size of the business matter. The size of the business does not matter. The revenue matters and how long they've been in business matters most. And I guess I should have did a better sentence. It's the size of the company or the business matter in terms of participating in the boot camp. No, it is not. I should have asked that question.

Absolutely not. If you're a one person show, you have a great service that you want to offer, you can participate. If you are a business that has less than five, less than 10 employees, you can participate. If you have an awesome product or a service and you want to increase your bottom line through contracts with companies bigger than yours, you should be at the boot camp. One of the issues is

um access to capital because a lot of black businesses are under capitalized would this kind of help in terms of people being better able to get capital to support the business? So we'll have a workshop that talks about access to capital and when is the right time to pursue access to capital but what I want to say is

I need businesses to be working on their bottom line every day, get customers. So just keep working your business, getting more customers, getting yourself to a revenue line that's comfortable for you. And then when you want to enter into this space of formalized procurement, you look strong on paper and you can access the capital you need maybe for expansion, equipment, more employees, et cetera. And maybe over and beyond what you do.

What about, and I know this is hard for some people, where you might combine with someone else, you know, in order to build, always believe that half of something is better than all of nothing. That's correct. Do you think we need to talk about that more in terms of a strategy?

towards success in business and black community? Yes, and I think that when people come to the table to talk about that potential partnership, there's some real alignment, not only on the goals, but making sure it's a win-win for everybody at the table. A lot of times when we see businesses try to come together to obtain a larger contract, there's a lot of back and forth with legal or what, you know, a particular business thinks they want and deserve versus the other business.

and if you are coming together two, three, four to make, to try to go for a prime position, make sure that you are creating something that's equitable and fair for everybody at the table because then it will go a lot smoother. Yeah, I just, you know, because sometimes you could have the same people doing the same thing. Yes. Where if they come together, want more resources, right? Yes. Which puts them in a better position to bid.

Right. Right for a contract. Right. And to take a better position than maybe a subcontracting or what we call tier three, tier fours, which a lot of times is where businesses start, but they kind of stay in that tier. They don't ascend to like a tier two or a prime, which is tier one, because they're not willing to think outside of the box that they're in.

So who are some of the instructors or some of the organizations that's going to provide instruction? Yeah, so our access to capital.

panel will be run by Ashley Lucas from Associated Bank. She's one of the managers, and I'm sorry, I don't know her title, the formal title. I know she's an SVP at Associated, but really talking about access and not just general access, but again, when you are going into procurement, when is the right time to borrow? The second one, we're going to be talking about matchmaking and networking, making the connection. How do you build relationships? And so if you lessen the availability of something, the cost of it goes up. So you go in now and they almost give away chicken.

you know I mean chicken is so cheap now and um remember during COVID those chicken wangs they got expensive but here's the thing people raise the prices but they don't drop the prices when their prices go down at all because they know man that you can maintain it once you pay at one time they know just like with gas prices right gas is never going to go back down to a dollar and 99 because they know that people will and can pay

$3 a gallon, $2 a gallon, $4 a gallon. So let's just play on the people. Even though we might be able to lower the gas to $1.99 a gallon, we know that they're paying it at this price. So let's leave it there. How many of y'all are going to watch the Republican midterm convention tonight and tomorrow night in Dallas? It's tonight. Yeah. Now, I saw on the news that there was a bunch of Republicans

That wasn't going cuz I guess he tried in a hundred thousand dollars or something like that, right? And they need money and they go taking the money you taking the money from us which makes no sense because You taking the money that's needed for the midterm elections and You want them to pay a hundred thousand dollars minutes so they was interviewing

Some of the Republicans asked him if they was going and you should have heard some of the excuses. Oh, no, I can't go. My son has a game. I promised him I wouldn't miss any game. Oh, well, you know, I have to cook for the kids. And I have to find a cure for cancer. Right. That part. So I would be there. But if I would find a cure for cancer, I'd definitely be there. I got to go wrestle the bear in the woods. I'm sorry.

Yeah, this dude man and and people said though, it's in a tough situation because you've enabled it all along Now it's hard for people to step up now They were saying part of it was it wasn't most of these people got through their primaries. Maybe they might grow some but it doesn't It is I hope they get all the people all of the rotten people

So, you know, and there's a documentary out there about all the substitutes they went through to make sure he knew that one plane wasn't safe and then the other plane could have been a target, but he made sure he wasn't on that plane.

This is the first time I heard about it, but guess what, man? You telling me about the decoy situation, which I've looked at that in all kind of angles with the decoy guy, even with the fake gun, even with the fake hand, I've looked into the decoy thing. So I mean, I think they all kind of do that, but they don't personify that thing. No, they said there have been two other instances where I think Obama's secretly traveled

some place and Bush secretly traveled some place. But I don't think they put the press where if if the Iranians were really intent on trying to shoot down that plane, he wasn't going to be on it, but he had other people on it and he didn't even let people know. When Marine One flies from the White House, there's several helicopters that go up that look like it to go up. So you had that. But in this instance, people were saying that, you know... Listen, when those guys travel with a Hunter Rods, they split it up, and we don't know who on which helicopter or which Air Force One or whatever. So, you know, that's just something for somebody to talk about. I thought it was somewhere.

if somebody was left somewhere and you know like like like biden being in afghanistan uh left all of our equipment over there and uh and you know something else man what happened to those afghanis that we let into the country uh on the temporary state or did we give them all amnesty because if they send back donations a lot of them could a lot of them could get back couldn't get in the country

See, that's the real challenge that, and so even though I want them people out of here, I understand that that's low. That's low hanging fruit.

And just what if they would come here and pay homage to the Negro that laid the map and the groundwork for them and understand that the black man, they don't do that because of the simple fact they come right to the hero. They want to be on the hero side. And then you got to ask yourself, who don't want to be on the hero side? Who don't want to be on the so-called winning team, right? So when these people come into the country and we are always advertising and putting our misery and past on this.

So Donald Trump wanted to be a hero, probably say he was down in the bus and grab one man out and put the baby in his bag and came out with dust on his face.

You know, let's be realistic. Like Jesse Jackson, when Dr. King got killed, he was back in Chicago with some blood on his shirt. So he was down there playing over the man. And one of the blue shots was Jesse. He was there when he got shot. And he was there when he got shot. The King family never forgave him for that. But everybody won't give you up, man. So it's Donald Trump.

David Crowley committed but Tiffany hasn't or didn't Now that just raises a couple of red flags for me one Why wouldn't Tiffany want to debate David Crowley?

Two if you look at some of the ads that are being running and not being run now I don't know you know based on the last opinion poll that Marquette did They had Crowley up five points with likely voters.

They were even with registered voters and So my question is why doesn't Tom Tiffany want to be on the same stage as David Crowley now

based on some of the ads that I see running, you know, in terms of appealing, and they're not even dog whistles.

I mean, they're just out and out.

It's racist.

I use these words xenophobic.

You know, they run a commercial and this is not the Tiffany campaign.

It's a group support in the Tiffany campaign where they said that they show what was happening at State Fair Park.

And then they talk about how

David Crowley Just raised taxes Okay So we're not even let's fact check this just for a moment first of all David Crowley can only raise taxes at the maximum at 2% Just about every governmental agency County municipality school board has gone in for tax increases because the state

either through the revenue sharing piece or underfunding education is not giving them enough.

So you see, you know, we had two or three referendums just in Milwaukee County and it wasn't just Milwaukee.

The other thing then they say is that then David Crowley is going to basically put Milwaukee in the state.

And again, you had that image of those young kids fighting down at State Fair Park.

So either there's some internal polling telling Tiffany that hey, you know You probably just want to coast through do the attack ads Ride it through do not go face-to-face Because at some point Tom Tiffany will have to talk about his record and that's what he doesn't want to do He doesn't want to talk about his record because this record has been clearly supportive of Donald Trump

My hope is Donald Trump comes to Wisconsin, but Tom Tiffany is gonna probably politely say no, sir We're okay because Whether Tiffany likes it or not Trump is on the ballot Trump is on the ballot

and

everything that he's doing and the devastating impact his policies are having on many of his voters and Tom Tiffany has been supportive

Many if not all of the policies So I just thought it was curious where you wouldn't want to do a debate and almost gets back to the movie that DJ always refers to Where You know, what is it God, it's the Chris Rock movie

So he still will debate.

It's just not through the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association.

I wonder how much of this when you see, you know, like these takeovers, when you see the kids out fighting either downtown or Water Street or State Fair, I think it's a little bit more sinister.

I kind of believe that there are purposely organizing kids to do this in order to create these pictures.

But Keith I kind of believe you're you're going down a slippery slope because And I want to make sure that I'm prefaced in the right way when you when you look at the incident I mean they use clips from this most recent state fair incident To blame Crawley,

yeah, calling them

soft on crime,

but but he's not responsible for

crime No, and he's certainly not and actually

The the people responsible for the state fair is the state police.

They have a whole state fair police force.

Dallas.

If you pay attention to it, an officer gets punched.

And then after they say that, they say, do you want that for Wisconsin?

Person on crime make so crop It's not again like he said he's not responsible for crime.

I mean these attack ads Some of them are quite toothless

if you will yeah Yeah, and I think by the time you're going in corrected.
