The answer is Brazil. Brazil had the largest number. As a matter of fact, when you look at it, United States had the smallest number of enslaved Africans that were dropped off here. But it was Jamaica. I mean, Jamaica was Brazil. And part of it for Brazil was the Portuguese had settlements in Angola and Mozambique. And so they could go just straight across and get enslaved people.

So it was just logical for them to take up the fight. Claudette Colvin and her friends were, they were girls. They were teenagers when they sat there on the bus. So I think someone referred to them as women, but they were actually girls. But the NAACP wasn't the only group. Didn't they create the Montgomery boycott?
association or something like that. Right. So they were just part of that part of that group Rosa Parks had gotten in trouble before when she tried to register to vote. And that was some of her early activism. She's one of those people trying to register to vote now that as I remember. She was she was an activist and yes they did the different groups did get together there in Montgomery. And as a matter of fact it was
that group that um selected uh i know became to be the head of it when he when he had come into town but they had already uh already organized prior to that and then the other thing i want to say is that the the NACP and LACP was a very very very important organization from uh probably the 20s all the way up started losing
some of the recognition with the Black Power movement because people started having different ways of approaching. But I would like to challenge anyone though to look at the actual history of the NACP, especially the legal defense under the leadership of Thurgood Marshall, who was the attorney, the lead attorney for the legal defense.
They were responsible for collecting information from people who had different situations regarding segregation or lynching or whatever. They were collecting information and then attorney Marshall was presenting those cases to the federal government. It wasn't it also Charles Houston? Yeah, yeah, Charles Hamilton. Yes, he was.
when the attorney is right. I think he, it worked out how it's for a while. I just wanted to, I know you don't like to poke fun at different organizations, but I just want to be fair and also have a correct history that the NACP, the NACP also was a membership organization that so many African-Americans
with give, I think it was a weekly, a monthly. I know my parents were part of it. And they would give the dues and then they would use that money to help finance the different things. And I just want to highlight as they've taken the cases before the court and the cases, if someone can read some of the different cases that they were
successful land, especially under Attorney Marshall, Third of Marshall, then I think you would maybe have a different... Around the Board of Education, right? Yes. You also have the, and people never talk about the Lowndes County Deacons for Defense. Those guys in Lowndes County, Lowndes County is between Selma and Montgomery. And so there were groups out there and I think it was changing.
The Urban League got involved, but the Urban League was not necessarily a protest group. When Dr. Hall comes on, she talks about their mission. But for that march on Washington, there was a combination of labor and civil rights organizations. SNCC was part of it because John Lewis, I think was president of SNCC when they did the march on Washington. He got a chance to speak even though they went in and edited it.

I wanted to just clarify a couple of things that were said earlier about Mrs. Rosa Parks and why they called him.
Mrs. Parks was I rated a member of the NACP.
So it was just logical for them to take up the fight.
Claudette Colvin and her friends were, they were girls.
They were teenagers when they sat there on the bus.
So I think someone referred to them as women, but they were actually girls.
But the NAACP wasn't the only group.
Didn't they create the Montgomery boycott?
association or something like that.
Right.
So they were just part of that part of that group Rosa Parks had gotten in trouble before when she tried to register to vote.
And that was some of her early activism.
She's one of those people trying to register to vote now that as I
remember.
She was she was an activist and yes they did the different groups did get together there in Montgomery.
And as a matter of fact it was
that group that um selected uh i know became to be the head of the when he when he had come into town but they had already uh already organized prior to that and then the other thing i want to say is that the the NACP and LACP was a very very very important organization from uh probably the 20s all the way up started losing
some of the recognition with the Black Power movement because people started having different ways of approaching.
But I would like to challenge anyone though to look at the actual history of the NACP, especially the legal defense under the leadership of Thurgood Marshall, who was the attorney, the lead attorney for the legal defense.
They were responsible for collecting information from people who had different situations regarding segregation or lynching or whatever.
They were collecting information and then attorney Marshall was presenting those cases to the federal government.
It wasn't it also Charles Houston?

when the attorney is right.
I think he, it worked out how it's for a while.
I just wanted to, I know you don't like to poke fun at different organizations, but I just want to be fair
also have a correct history that the NACP, the NACP also was a membership organization that so many African-Americans
with give, I think it was a weekly, a monthly.
I know my parents were part of it.
And they would give the dues and then they would use that money to help finance the different things.
And I just want to highlight as they've taken the cases before the court and the cases, if someone can read some of the different cases that they were
successful land, especially under Attorney Marshall, Third of Marshall, then I think you would maybe have a
different.
Around the Board of Education,
right?

If I'm not mistaken, I don't want to say something that I'm not 100% against.
I'm reasonably sure that that was one of the landmark cases.
And that was one of the things when you talked about because the
NAACP were really litigators.
They did a lot of litigation.
And when you got to the 60s, it became a, became, and I appreciate you talking about the difference with the Black Power movement, because remember they did the Big Five when they did the March on Washington.
And, but there were a lot of radicals who felt like, you know,
Okay, that's good.
That's Dr. King and all of that.
But then by the time you get to like 65, 66, Stokely Carmichael H. Wrapped Brown, Black Panther Party forums out in Oakland, California.
You also have the, and people never talk about the Lowndes County Deacons for Defense.
Those guys in Lowndes County, Lowndes County is between Selma and Montgomery.
And so there were groups out there and I think it was changing.
The Urban League got involved, but the Urban League was not necessarily a protest group.
When Dr. Hall comes on, she talks about their mission.
But for that march on Washington, there was a combination of labor and civil rights organizations.
SNCC was part of it because John Lewis, I think was president of SNCC when they did the march on Washington.
He got a chance to speak even though they went in and edited it.

Yeah so I just wanted to highlight that they were a very important organization.
I'm saying were not that they still aren't because they still do work but it was the and that was a period of time when the different organizations started criticizing each other a lot and you know that wasn't the best thing to do because
each one of them had a part to play but I just wanted to just have like that they were they're they're extremely important especially for about 50 years I said for probably 20s to the 70s okay thank
