That is not what we're dealing with right now. We're dealing with the cost of everything, right?

I'm just looking at, and I'm just, you know, beyond shock when I look at the sticker, you know, what things cost. And a lot of this is because of Donald Trump. You know, he complained like, you know, Biden was the dumbest president ever. He always has a problem going after Obama, right? That's the real problem with that.

Sticking when it comes to Obama's matter of fact he realizes that when he raises Obama not a comparison is between him and Obama Yeah, and there's no comparison. No, none at all. You know, he doesn't even own a tan soup Right, right, right so man it is

Yeah, that threw me something else. Dude, I'm feeling like Ronald Reagan ran a campaign that said, it's morning in America. And he just talked about how bright the future of America was, even though we're going through one of the toughest economic times. Certainly, I lived through anybody that was around in the early 80s knew it was tough. That's when you really began to see factories closing, jobs going overseas.

I mean, you think about it, Kennedy was elected barely 50-50, right? But as soon as he got shot, everybody loved him. Well, and then you look at someone like Lyndon Johnson, who, you know, he had a visceral...

reaction to poverty because he saw the impact as a school teacher that poverty had on the students that he taught. I think he was teaching primarily Hispanic kids in the Hill Country there. So I think they're there. But here's the thing about Abraham Lincoln. Even though he was anti-slavery, he was still a white supremacist.

And so, you know, to be able to kind of reconcile that that yeah, I'm against the institution of slavery and he didn't always come out. He was always trying to find a compromise in terms of what can we do? But once the Southern, the Confederacy had made up their mind that they were going to do independence, it turned into another thing. And when Meach was talking about Texas and New Mexico, you realize Texas was the last state to get rid of slavery.

As a matter of fact, that's where our Juneteenth come from they they were they were fighting a whole so everybody hear the story about the Alamo and oh my god, Texas independence in the Alamo and that of that at first of all it was it was Mexican land that was basically stolen from the Mexicans and You know, so when he comes in he he give you that whole history in terms of what that looks like go man. The work we're doing at Viola is absolutely bringing access to the water for people. To be able to have this job to help keep our rivers clean and our lake clean is the greatest thing I could ask to be doing for my time. It feels good. No, they came up from the country and those folks were saying that the realists and look during the time of Jesus, not only did you have abuse by the Jewish authorities, you also had abuse by the Roman authorities, right? So I think you know we and I understand look man with the mysticism of religion is real like we hear the stories we hear the songs part of the problem is that we don't necessarily and Here's and I again. But when you want to really sit down and have a discussion and then you find out like I have a problem with the conquering of Canaan because genocide happened and it's hard for me to reconcile. And I'm glad that that's why I kind of wanted to get involved because I heard Brother Pierce mentioned about these Bible studies that we don't talk about. That's the last thing we talk about. And that's where the research and study and the deep meditation and the prayer and supplication come in at.

And that's what teaches us, just try to stay on the straight narrow. You know, there's only two roads that travel in this world. One is a road, a broad road of destruction. And then there's that narrow, cramped road of everlasting life. So there's no way around that. But see, I think Keith was saying, as far as the Bible study, let me tell you what Keith was saying.

That's political because you had to go downtown you had to petition the city or do an application now partisan politics is different but what I'm saying is I believe clergy clergy regardless of the religion has a responsibility to speak out against injustice and if that and if the politics is what's costing the injustice then

We have a responsibility to speak truth to that power. I'm not saying I'm saying what I'm saying is we can give them down. And in other words, the brother that goes, I think it's first Corinthians church, you know, he is from Atlanta. He goes to the White House, not the White House, but he's a U.S. senator.

minded just as well as didn't want to take on some of the characteristics that I wasn't totally comfortable with and that happened with another organization too but at any rate the bottom line is the Bible is in one that you can can um that you can change directions on because there's only one truth about the Bible and that is the truth that's probably I would that's a discussion we can have but I would disagree I think

that it part of getting to truth is questioning, right? Absolutely. And that's your truth. And now you can't do not hear what I'm saying then. No, but I want you to hear what I'm saying. I thought I heard you. But we have been so programmed and I think and I caution people do not worship the Bible. I caution you.

That is a form of idolatry that you probably want to avoid. Now look, it was the only book that they let enslaved Africans read, and it took a long time for them to even let us read that book. But even then, because there's something called the slave Bible that was used in the Caribbean, where all of those things... But it is a tool to your roadmap of your life. I mean, you have to use the Bible. It is a foundation of your life. But what if I'm not a Christian?

The majority of the world is not Christian The larger population is Catholics and they can say no Christians. No, no, what I'm saying is there's seven billion people in the world about 1.5 billion are Christians

That means the majority of people in the world are not Christians Whatever variation of those people who are designated Christians things about 1.5 billion think Muslims are about 1.5 billion

But yes, most religions, all religions, I mean, most religions and even people that don't even, uh, seek after God, they still follow those moral principles, man. So they were differentiating themselves when they were in Babylonian captivity from the behavior. That was the issue with the three Hebrew boys and Daniel.

that there were certain cultural and religious things that the Babylonians were putting on them. And they took a stand and said, we refuse to do it. First it started with the dietary peace. The king gave them a pass on the dietary peace. But the first commandment is thou shall have no other God, right? And they were not going to bow down to him as God. Even Caesar considered himself God, right? So that when people hear it,

they kind of go like oh it was no no there was some things going on especially doing the Babylonian captivity where some scholars believe that a lot of the Ten Commandments a lot of the scriptures to Pentateuch could have been codified that means actually put into writing because the Babylonian people

as bad as they were to the Israelis, the people of Israel, they were an advanced society. These were people who gave us record keeping, created mathematics. So there was a lot that the Hebrew people learned in captivity. And the Babylonians were very strategic. They took the best and brightest. The Hebrew boys were the best and brightest and brought them in.

And you're right on point of that they do they use scripture to justify the hate of people in the LGBTQ community people who are immigrants they use the Bible they use the Bible to justify enslavement right that whole story of him and because Ham was the darkest No as kids he was cursed Noah cursed him God didn't curse him Noah cursed him

So I mean, you know when when you look at that's the danger folks when you run around we just running with this understand That there is a good part of the history of Christianity But there's also a dark part of it and we are dealing with some of the residual effects that obviously us being here in this diaspora Because scripture again was used that they have this thing in Africa. Well, and then you look at someone like Lyndon Johnson, who, you know, he had a visceral...

reaction to poverty because he saw the impact as a school teacher that poverty had on the students that he taught.

I think he was teaching primarily Hispanic kids in the Hill Country there.

So I think they're there.

But here's the thing about Abraham Lincoln.

Even though he was anti-slavery, he was still a white supremacist.

And so you know to kind of reconcile that that yeah, I'm against the institution of slavery and he didn't always come out He was always trying to find a compromise in terms of what can we do?

but once the Southern the Confederacy had made up their mind that they were gonna do independence it turned into another thing and when Mitch was talking about Texas and New Mexico you realize Texas was the last state to Get rid of slavery
