you
They play music, it's my option. Yeah, I'm doing the intro.
Alright, good morning and welcome to Community Voice. I'm your host Keith Parasota. Thank you everybody for joining us this morning. Good morning Clark Kent. Who you with? Hey man, I'm with the people. Apostle, what's happening? Bishop, Chairman of the Board. Today, I wear this hat to celebrate 250 years of being an American. I'm going to give me a green beret.
That's a green beret, baby. We black beret, though. So you've been here 250 years? Yeah. So, you know, every now and again, I reincarnate myself. OK, that pushes up against your religious tradition.
You know, that's kind of Eastern religion, that you come back and something else. Have you ever heard people like, like, I've been here before? No, yeah. Now, you see some kids, man, and you swear these kids been here before, because for you to act like that is just... Well, I don't know why we'd be tripping on old babies acting old. Right. All right.
Like how? Yeah, that was an old baby. You don't know the baby come out after all. Call her. Welcome to the program. They actually just left the building. They just left. Yeah. They left. OK. Well, let me do this. And we do have, we'll be having some guests at 9 30. Let me do my little, I need to do a cleanup. I received an email this morning from a sister that listens to the program.
And, you know, she was talking about, yesterday, I had, we were talking about someone had put it in the chat, I think it was half of his donors had put in the chat, how Republicans will do anything to, you know, gain and maintain power. And I used a quote that was attributed to the Oakland Raiders that said, if you ain't cheating, you ain't trying.
But what I was using that in context of is that people are in it to win it. And all is fair, love and war. So when people are looking at the rules, the rules really don't matter when you're on a mission. And so no, I do not endorse cheating. And I hope I didn't give that impression. I was trying to give it in context to the conversation we were having.
about what people are willing to do and specifically the Republican Party to go after power, maintain power. And if they're cheating, so what? That's just how the game is played. And I know that, and you know, in any competition, you want to get an edge, you know, on your opponent. You know, I mean, that's just real talk, you know, in terms of
wanting to be able to do that. But yeah, it was just this whole idea that what people are doing, you're seeing that. I mean, Trump wanting to do the so-called save act, where you're trying to change the rules to give yourself an advantage, the racial gerrymandering that's being done. So there are evidence out there of people who are willing to violate, willing, people willing to cheat, to do whatever you can.
in order to win. Right. Well, you know, sometimes you got to move the goalposts, you know? Yeah. Oh yeah, people do it all the time. I do. You know, you thought, and I wish, you know, it was just a Republican party, but I've seen people, boy, I just tell you, man, people are, I don't even know the word for it.
when it comes to wanting to have our way you know but you know we take that people do anything man and and then it's amazing how situation of your ethics or your morality comes right or becomes you know Reverend Wazel used to always preach about situation of ethics and how you know we will depending on the situation we might give up something that we ethically believe you know so
Four one four four four four five two five zero four one four four four five two five zero Hey, man, how the Padres I mean, I know this is kind of out of nowhere. They gave him 23 runs to the Cubs 23 runs. It was 23 to two. I mean, yeah Now now well one of the guys a three home runs man. Yeah, I mean who was picked will not look
Everybody's talked about how depleted the Cubs bullpen is, but San Diego's bullpen must really be. I mean, that's like a softball score. Man, listen, man, I think they had a center-fielder pitching, because I know, wait a minute, your regular rotation pitches, even your bullpen pitches, man, would actually give up that many runs like that, man. That was like a...
That's crazy, man. I get mad when the Brewers give up one run, but imagine that you're giving up 23. But do you have to, man, do you know how long that game had to have been? Well, yeah, I was talking about people, what is it, like, bad and around? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, like four or five times. That's like four or five times. And nine people in the inning? That's crazy. That's nuts, man.
The only way, hey, Jalen Brown didn't get traded. To Philly, baby, for Paulie. Stinking George. Wow. They traded Paul George to Boston. And Mitchell Robinson just signed an agent. No, not with Lakers. With Paul. With Boston. Yeah. Yeah. Did we talk about, did we talk about LeBron leaving yesterday? No, but. Okay, we'll do that a little bit later on. Yeah. Hey, but you know what though?
and I know we're going to talk about it later, but he was really smart. He waited until he waited until the Lakers guaranteed Brownie's contract. After they guaranteed his contract, then the news broke he was leaving. That boy's a genius. Hey, man, if you got the leverage, you're a genius.
You know, people been doing it for years, man. They talk about in the NBA and in NFL, how the so-called coaching trees would be like families, you know, and how a dad will make sure that his son gets the job. I don't know if you remember, what is Dick Bennett? Oh, yeah. He left, he was coaching out of Washington and made sure his son.
Yeah at the job Bruce Pearl down in Auburn. Yeah, you know make sure his son got the job Yeah, they all do it man. Yeah, they all do they do it in the corporate world They do it in them in the world of sports. It's I mean, it's everywhere gas stations, man They set it up and pass it along today. Well, I mean wouldn't you do it for your child? Of course, you know when people People look at that, you know, they talk about like succession plans and churches
And you know, the pastor's son will be the next pastor. I mean, people look out, you know, we always talk about generational wealth, but you know, generational opportunities. I don't know about that, man, because my brother never messed a lot of things up for us. We would have been like Linus had a black grocery store. Our store was Tyler Food was on Houghton in Locust. And my uncle.
that my brothers and them two were fighting. That part wanted to tell you right there. You know, and you know, he wouldn't listen to him and he would still, he would have been like, you know, he's had a nice supermarket right now, man. California, I can see it right now. Hey, but Clark, I'm not arguing that they are there prepared for it.
But you know what? I think you just got to train your kids to be perfect. They got to want it. They have to want it. You know what I'm saying? They might not want it, but they have to want it. And I think that sometimes it's the educational piece where, you know, you're going out and you want to do things differently. If you look at Lena's, the one thing about Basilique Martin.
was that he was a brilliant businessman. And here's a guy who never went to business school. I mean, you know, there are people out there, well, you know, when you go to business school and you learn a little something, something, then you come back and he's kind of going like, and I think that there has to be this mix between, you know, new technology, new approaches, but then your foundational principles don't change, right?
those things that you're able to do and you're able to maintain. So, yeah, I mean, there's a story in the Bible, you know, when Samuel retired as a prophet and put his sons in charge and he had to come out of retirement because these near do well, Negro. You know, I mean, so now other instances, the son comes in, I give you a great example of Joel Olstein. Joel Olstein has done far more than his dad ever did, but his dad positioned him.
to be in that position. As a matter of fact, Joe Osteen wasn't even a minister. Joe Osteen was over their marketing. That's what he did. And I think after his mom died or that when he was elevated, but he already understood, because he had learned the business. Whether I like him or not, Donnie Swagger is another one who learned the business. He would be out with his dad. He set up the crusades.
They started purchasing the radio stations. He was involved with that. So the mechanics of how the organization should run, you know, was in real good hands. But you're right, Clark, it don't mean that just because they give it to you that you should be the person that should be in charge. Right. Because the reason why I found out he was giving it to my brother, because they were, my brother was the first oldest. Right. So, and then my other brother was the second.
It was like, but they were just like, man. Man, I can just, if I can tell y'all some of the stories, man. Oh man, I can tell you and families do. And that's the other thing, like family. You got all kinds of stuff. You got the sibling rivalries. You got, you know, I don't know why he's doing it. I don't know why she's doing it.
So sometimes the the biggest barrier to your success is your your fellow family members. Yeah. Yeah. So all right. 414-444-5250-414. Hey, Clark, I don't know if he said it over to you. Did you get the, can we talk about Mount Olive Pickles? Yeah. Mount Olive Pickles. Mount Olive Pickles. It's about the Pickle Pickles? The Pickle Pickles. The Pickle Pickles.
Alright, where is it? There it is. Okay. Alright, Michelle was talking about the
And you ever had some people that, man, I can't cuss. But you have somebody to just eff up everything. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah. And that's how I feel about Donald Trump right now. Yeah. And this whole 250th celebration of the country, it just seems like it's about him. It's Cory. It's carnival. It's not inclusive. Yeah. You know, I mean, it's just how can anybody
Well, I guess anybody can. Well, you're just so narcissistic that it's always about you. What I don't understand is how the people that is actually, I don't want to say celebrating him, but like worshiping this cat, man, that they see all of the stuff that he's doing and yet they still can't find any fault in this guy, man.
amazing well they have not showed up for this uh america state fair oh it was funny i mean this is like empty it's predicting that unless he did what he's done in some rallies in the past where he actually pays people to come in yeah that is going to be pretty sparse uh they're on the mall on saturday but let's talk about mount olive pickles and you know i know people i will now
I will I will be using if I buy pickles relish. It will be mount auto Okay And I'll just read this real short article says mag world has sharpened his knives for mount auto pickles The president's supporters have declared a boycott of the 100 year old North Carolina pickle company after withdrew from the great America State Fair over confederate Confederate flag display in the state's booth
MAGA's devotees descended upon the X-page of Mount Isles Pickles after the company pulled out of the sparsely attended fair in Washington, D.C. The saga unfolded last week after the company accepted an invitation to participate in North Carolina Pavilion then got blindsided with a video displaying the Confederate flag. We're proud of our North Carolina roots and we agree to be part of an exhibit as presented to us that would represent the best of our great state.
My name is Pickle said in a statement on X. We are unaware. We were unaware that the image of the Confederate flag was included in a video as part of this exhibit and we were drawn our participation. Our country stands on values of human dignity, opportunity and freedom. And then you know you had people going and I'll never buy your pickles again. My Confederate ancestors wouldn't want me to y'all are traders, the self anointed.
MAGA account said, just through my Mount Olive Coastal Pickle Spheres and the trash, and other accounts said no more Yankee Pickles, FU Mount Olive, and the mule you rode in on. If I had purchased Mount Olives for the last time, instead of third user whose bio red Democrats goal is to destroy the United States. Shout out to Mount Olive Pickles. We don't have enough of people publicly standing and doing the right thing.
Manolo pickles and when I use do my sloppy joe sliders I will be using Manolo sweet pickle relish. So quick question so the people that chimed in are upset because the pickle people pulled out of the
So people are upset because they didn't participate. Right. And I don't know what it is with these folks. You do know the Confederacy, first of all, committed treason and secession. And they lost the war.
Well, you know that was so funny King that you brought this up. I was just watching a young Gen Z Guy talking on social media and he brought up a point he said You do know man at the South really won the war it appears that way it appears that way because he was like well, you know all of the Jim Crow laws and how long it took and all of that other stuff he was like
So in reality, and some of this stuff is still in place. So it's like, you look at it and he was like, well, in reality, the South really won. And it's like, when you kind of look at it, it's like, wait a minute, it is, because some of the stuff that we was fighting against is still in place. Yeah, I think the other thing about the status quo, and I talk about it a lot, is it's hard to move the status quo, you know?
it really is. I mean once people get used to things being a certain way it is hard for people to change. We talked about it yesterday how slave owners were compensated for loss of property you know by the U.S. government. So you know and I think that when we kind of look at this 250 year celebration I appreciate what Michelle said you know celebrated
but also in the back of your mind, understand the fraught history of this country. And don't forget our contributions to the country. But yeah. And yeah, she was talking about, I think, is Lafatepe, who was the guy who was the architect for DC.
it was Benjamin Banneker then who was able to come in and then really do it from his head where he laid out Washington DC and what Washington DC looks like now. So don't they got a Benjamin Banneker clock? A what? A clock. Yes. I think he had an almanac. He was he was he was quite a he was quite a
Quite a genius. Yeah, you could be quite a genius. But yeah, he and it said a whole lot about when you would hear about the so-called inferior the inferiority of dark people and begin to realize that That wasn't the case that there was this whole intellectual Acumen that we brought look man. We came from the descendants of the Mali dynasty
And Mansamosa and I think the first cataract surgery was done at the University of Timbuktu in the 1500s. So, you know, when you look at us as descendants of African enslaved African people and African people, we should take great pride in that and almost things that when they tried to do collectively. And at the same time, we're all individuals too. We're all human.
All right, let's do this. We're going to take a quick break and we'll be right back.
and 106.5 FM with your host, Keith Parris. All right, welcome back. And we have on the line, Ms. Michelle Pitts-Luckett and Ms. Farina Brooks. They're here to talk about an event that's going to be happening on Saturday, July 11th. Good morning, ladies. Good morning. How are you? I'm great. I'm well. Good. Good. Good. So tell us.
And Clark, can you put it back up? This is a very special event you're having on July 11th. Your rain team united WI. We came together like 2019, but we were all working together before then. And so, this is actually one of the people that's on our team. And so, it was just put in my spirit to
We've never been able to do one with her, where the goal of this, and I did tell her this, which we all know that Michelle loves to give. But our goal for this was for us and the community to come together to try to do this together, where we take donations and everything so that we know she's going to, because that's her. But our goal is really to bring the community together to show how much we really do love her.
and how much we do appreciate her because she does so much for all of us in the community. And so we felt like this was a way for Dream Team and the community to be able to show her how much we really do. She know we love, but it's always good to show. So we talked with her and I said, well, Mr. Shea also, you know, we need to bring some life, right, to Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. So this is a way to do all of that.
within one event. So tell us about the event. So the event is Saturday Night Live. We'll have free horse rides where everything is free. We'll have horse rides. We have the video game bus. We have pretty girls educated coming with their bus. Gideon Verdeen Williams will be a DJ to lose them. Mr. Baptist Church Band will be playing.
We'll have free hair braiding, free haircuts, free face painting, and of course, everybody know what Dream Team do. We will be there giving out groceries. Also, we will have hot dogs and burgers, things like that. So if people would like to donate, just know this is a donation, not for Dream Team. This donation is to show our love and support to our own. This Michelle lucky pit can give so much to everybody else.
Michelle? Yes. So when you give, it'll be given back to the community. And when I say that, you can give what you are a healthcare worker with healthcare information. I know we do have a healthcare facility here as well as they have different
For women that are for pregnant women information for pregnant women they will be given away Pampers and As she said shoes, I mean it's so much information. There is daycare information also with the health care information that will be given they will help with insurance As letting you know, you don't have if you don't have insurance you will not be denied health care, but we have
so many vendors coming and it is so much it's very it will be very informative very informative and very community minded and so when you come there will feel it you will see it and you will know this is really nothing but love and that's what we want to do we just want to show love and show that whenever community comes together we can't do anything but for I mean if we have so much
information in our community but if we just get it out let people know what we have let you know even with education a lot of people don't even know the next step of getting in a school if you don't have the money you'll be able to speak with someone there just kind of giving you some direction on
um what you need to do in getting um getting in school whether it's regarding brand or whatever the case may be but it's going to be so many uh so much information and so many vendors out there uh when i say giving i mean given materialistically as well as um giving out information uh mindful information that will be educating information health health information i mean name it and i was talking to
someone the other day regarding the lunch program that they have out since the students are out of school. I was always, you know, I would always hear where as some of those students, the best meal that meal that they would get in a day's time is the meal at school. The school is out now. And there are several facilities that facilitate lunch and breakfast, dinner, even dinner.
I know the Salvation Army as well as there is several Milwaukee public schools that have full programs. So that information will be given out even where activities take place in some areas or some schools or churches. The information will be given out. So people need to know it. They don't know what can they do. But here come
Be there, bring family, bring your family. We are going to have a great time, a great time. And we're so excited to be on your radio show. He's so excited. And we thank you so much for us this time. Because when I tell you I'm excited, I know she says for Michelle, we just want to show her, you know, it's so hard for me to tell you. It is so hard. And, you know, I believe I just got.
I got the I can't help it give back and I just I that is just me and that's what I do when I I love people. All right, so again, the event. Give us the name. I see JK4K the Dream Team United WI and New Pits Mortuary at the.
Historic Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. Jerusalem is located at 2025 West Cornell. I'm sorry. That was the era. That was the era. The address is 2505 West Cornell Street. That is on the corner of Titonia and Cornell. You can't miss this big, beautiful church that was founded by none other than the late Dr. Donnie Sims and my mother.
Mother Neely says, my mom and my dad, over 50 years they founded that church. And so if I don't do anything else, I will continue to elect their legacy, live on. Okay. So it's 2005 with Cornell, right there on the corner, Cornell and Titonia. Am I right? Yeah. There you go. No, no, no, it's 2005. 2005.
Oh, 2005. Right. 2585. Get the address out of their head and just think of the corner of Titanian Cornell. There you go. 2505 West on Cornell Street, right on the corner there. Y'all going to get that address together in a minute. Yeah, if that's the address, I forgot we're going to have bouncy houses and for some people that don't know, Ms. Michelle has an actual
Black Museum, um, inside the church. And so people are going to be able to go in, especially our youth. We really want them to know. I mean, it's a lot of, you know, adults probably don't know a lot about the Black history right here in Milwaukee. So Miss Michelle has that in a church. So people will be able to go in and look at the pictures and find out about some of the history, you know, back then and now, some of the politicians. I think there'll be a couple of them there.
So that if people have questions, they'll be there and they can answer some questions for them if they can. So it's really going to be nice, real nice. It's very informative, very family friendly, very community, because that's who we are. We are love, we are community, and we believe in supporting our community and supporting each other.
All right, that would be July 11th, right there on the corner of Titonia Cornell. It starts at one and goes to five. People don't need to register. They just need to show up, correct? Yes, correct. Show up. All right. We appreciate anything else, ladies. Yes, I would like the city of Milwaukee to stay tuned because we have none other than listen, Reverend Keith. He will be bringing word real soon. So stay tuned. Listen, Keith.
He will be preaching at Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church real soon, so you stay tuned. Wait a minute, hold on, hold on, hold on. Can I come preach too? Only if he allows you. Keep, add me on to be your assistant doc. Well, you know what, Michelle, I saw this at your dad's funeral when your brother
the late Bishop Daniels and Bishop Hines passed that mic.
Let's pass the mic, Jack. I'm ready. I got a word bubbling in my soul. Well, if you're going to pass it to Jermaine, you may well let me get a little taste. Hey, you got to come in here, Deebo, priest. When I tell you, priest, in his singing, he's preaching. Yeah, he is, man. As far as I'm concerned. That man, he's song. He's song. He led a song in solo. When I tell you, he's song.
That is his home church. We are just so happy. We just one love church that we love on one another. We're excited. We're just excited for the Lord's lessons. Just everything that God has for us on that corner. And so I'm excited to, I'm very excited to have you and that'll be real soon. So I'll be talking to you real soon. All right. Well, I'm honored. I'm honored. No prayer.
Well, Keith, when you come, just know I'll be there to raise the offering when you're done. And I'm gonna have that sound like Sister Piss raised the offering at that church. I appreciate you all.
No, no, I was just gonna say yeah Dbo did good job. He even had me crying. Oh, that ain't hard. Yeah. Give me that ain't hard. Give me that ain't hard. I don't want to cry. Pastor, Pastor Michelle. It's okay. Listen to this. Clock came back to the station that Monday and told everybody, well, it's official.
Tell him what you did yesterday. I said, you tell him what I did. He said, he's a deacon now. Everybody got to call it in. He's still going to do the blue show. Oh, he had me all messed up around here. Oh, my goodness. All right. Thank you. Thank you, Miss Michelle. Good to look at. Thank you, Miss Farina Brooks. And again, that event is July 11.
the day before my birthday from one right there on the corner. Tatalia and Cornel at Jerusalem Baptist Church. Thank you ladies. You're welcome and thank you for having us. No problem. You're welcome. Thank you for having us. Yep. Yes. Yes. Hey doc, I am ready.
Hey man, I'm going to close the doors. I ain't going to let nobody leave out. She locked the door. She locked the door and ain't nobody going to leave out and we going to get every night. That sound like mother at water. Oh yeah. Mother Clara. Mother Clara at water. Yeah. Mother at water. Yeah. She locked the door man. You wouldn't get that when she closed those doors. Yeah. For the third offering. Yeah Jack.
They pastor me the haircut offer past me do door knobs I mean, but I mean, but you've seen it. It's like 93 offers. That's that's that's Pastorial Sunday. That's when he's supposed to get is oh, well, yeah Well, I mean pastorial Sundays is totally different But I've seen churches like have like building funds and then like to win the building from money didn't come back
right when it didn't come back right. They didn't have another offering. What you expect happened to when you said it didn't come back right. I don't know what happened to it. I'm telling you man, a whole lot of money fall off the table in that counter room. That's real talk, guys. That's real talk, man. That's why, you know, one of the things that, one of the benefits, when we saw this trend before COVID,
was that you can do an electronic giving now that goes right into bank account. You know, so that really makes a difference. I know that people had issues with ATMs in the church. You know, I don't, well, no, that shouldn't be, that shouldn't be an issue because that's just another.
way of you, you know, giving money, you know, I mean, compared to you going around to the corner store, to the corner gas. The ushers used to break your 20. You know, back in the day, you know, you come in and you get changed from the ushers. So, actually, not every hobos. They would, they would stand there. There'd be a lady sitting there. She got the little book out and she write down your name and what you gave.
because people did, you know, it's you certainly can file it on your taxes. You know, back in the day, they would actually put in what you gave on a Sunday. That'd be public. Glad we got away from that. Yeah, but I think, you know, the convenience of it, because, you know, people people always
They get mad at the church for the church trying to finance itself, right? And and so then they you know, like they got ATMs and Yeah, ATM is a convenience for me if I want to put cash in the church I would put cash in the offer it so that's the convenience is like You know right I was saying so I don't have to run up here to the store to try to break the 20 But man, I think we have to just step into the 21st century Exactly, I would try to give it
When I was working for an Elliott management group, we sold credit card machines. And a lot of the watering holes is what I'll call them, bars, whatever you want to call them.
was able to sell those machines to, they were very leery of it. And I just said, you know, you'd be surprised how much more people spend. Right. Right. And they're not conscious of constantly going in their pocket. It's just leaving that card and they're not really paying no attention. So I know a guy now, he told me he, since the day he put that machine in there, he has not touched the money that goes there. He just uses the cash. Right. Right. And the other piece of it is, because you know this, you know, people in the bar and restaurant business knows that.
Oh, yeah. Cash is easier to steal than if you wouldn't do that as electronically done. And so I know that there are people out there who may or may not like the idea of using your debit card, using your credit card, but the convenience of it and then the security of it for those owners. Oh, absolutely. Absolutely. Yeah. We went to, what did we go out for? I don't know if it was our anniversary. Wow. It could have been our anniversary. We went to this new restaurant that opened
downtown right there on Van Buren and Mason, I think. And so we got our bill and they put on there that there was a 5%, 2% surcharge if you use a credit card. Well, I paid in cash. So she charged me the amount had I used the credit card. And you know, because she's so used to people paying with credit cards and not paying with cash. So she was able to go in and adjust the bill.
But yeah, I mean, it's a brave new world. Like I said, COVID, that's why giving didn't really go down in doing COVID when we're doing the lockdown because people still couldn't electronically give. A lot of churches got on the bandwagon then when they found out that, hey, you can go in and you support even now because I go to churches and they might be taking up an offering and I don't have any cash. Well, then those QR codes that you can go in and you can go in and give.
Yeah, we we start using a give a five, of course, and there's cash up. So there's so many ways that you can participate in the in the Ministry of Giving. Yeah, yeah.
And I have the outside rose, please stand That is that is one of our oratory songs Man, you gotta hear y'all gotta hear Deacon Michael Jones. Oh my god. He turned to that man He just he got it man. He got it. He got it
He got it. Did anybody see the two folks that were on the top of the Empire State Building? Yeah, I did see that this morning. I watched it. And they're in jail right now, but yeah. I watched it live, and I was going like, whoa. Now you don't have to get up there to propose. Now you know the vote. Yeah. Now you know what we should have did, that we should have played. Guess what color they are? Because, because. You already know. We know. Ain't no black folks climbing the past.
That's the third one. Second, amen. We ain't doing it. And they said they didn't have no kind of nothing to them, man. No tell them. Nothing. They just climbed up. But I guess they're their performance artists. So they knew what they were doing. Obviously they knew what they were doing. But man, when they got up, and I'm talking about he proposed to her on the platform, but when they unfurled the Jimmy Hendrix quote,
They were actually on the top there. Yeah, they were at the pinnacle. That was at the top top. I don't know, have you ever gone to a like, look down from a height and you can feel it in your groin? Yes, Doc. Oh, man. I was at the, in Texas, I was at the Radio Shack building, man. That was one of the tallest in Texas at one time, man. And man, I just, I got woozy. Doc. Come away from that. I come away from that window. Listen, man, I stopped riding rides because
The last ride I rode was the Eagle. That was, you know, because it's made out of wood. And boy, when I tell you, we got up there and that thing stopped. We at the top dangling because they had to fix it and I'm looking down. Man, my stomach was in my toes. I'm like, yeah, I ain't doing this no more.
That's why you get down from here. I promise you we just talked about this yesterday Man, you just fill it, you know, and that's the other thing like right now people at the lake I think the lake is only like 57 degrees The temperature is probably warmed up a little bit, but man you feel that when you go into that cold water come up that heat Yeah, dude, your body be going. Whoa
Can you revisit something you brought up on yesterday in your closing? And I know you haven't been here, you know, working physically out of the building. But on last Wednesday, Kuei Ku along with Dr. Alicia, walked away. They kind of just stepped away, taking a hiatus, if you will. He's taking on a new job. So they're doing some other things. But I know you probably wondered once you said, no, no, we're not going, going to them next.
you know that you didn't have to wrap up so quickly so I wanted to publicly say that for the other listeners as well that may not have known that as well as yourself just wanted to kind of bring revisit that if you didn't mind. Oh no problem, no problem at all. Okay all right you're listening to Community Voice, did I got a call? No but we do have a break. You're listening to Community Voice we're going to take a quick break and we'll be right back.
all right good morning good morning good morning again and welcome back to community voice okay there you go welcome back to community voice um you know today is uh let me do a couple things here let me do you know i'm a cancer so i need to do my birthday shoutouts uh so for my nephew brandon saffold his birthday is tomorrow uh on monday
Listen, Sunday, it will be my niece, Amaris, her birthday, and of course, my goddaughter, Caitlyn, her birthday is on, her birthday is on. So I have a third and a fifth. My birthday is on the 12th. So shout out all the folks, all my fellow cancers out there in terms of birthday shout outs. And I'll be doing more as we move.
through the month. Okay, let's see what I got here in the chat. I got one more thing. I'm trying to think. Oh, okay.
Let's do a United States men's national team. I don't know if anybody watched the match last night. They beat Bosnia, Herzegovina, and they beat Bosnia last night. Fascinating match. It was a fascinating match because one of the American players who has an interest in back story received a red card.
And the red card means that you've been ejected from the game. That means that you're down a player It's not like another sports where you eject a player and then you can replace them You can't so man for more than a half The Americans play 10 down they were able to score two goals Now the issue going forward though. I think guys bundle in is
That red card means he can't play in the next match. I think they have switchler in the next match. So And you know the men's team has always sucked and So this squad has been They've probably gone further or will go further then at least the team for almost 20 years from now
But they've done real well. And I think it helps if they're playing here. So every game is a home game for them. And someone said, don't forget Keon, we did. I think we acknowledged him. I know Michelle did it on the Thursday. I thought that his birthday was last Sunday. And I thought I'd mentioned him on Monday. But again, Keon, Jackson, Malone.
He has mixed. He has missed. Caller, welcome to the program. Good morning. Hello? Yes. Fine. This is Reverend Parris. This is brother Prince Roddy. How are you? Hey, Prince, how are you, bro? I'm good. Great. I just wanted to say good morning to everybody there, because you and Debo know me and my wife.
And hopefully I'll get a chance to meet the other people in the studio one day. But you were just giving out birthday shout outs. Zola's birthday is Monday. That's your new wife? Yes, you met my wife before. Oh yeah, of course, yes. Right, that's all I wanted. You know me whenever I go on the radio, I keep it short, brief to the point. But I thank you for allowing me to say good morning.
and mentioning my beautiful wife, Zola, that her birthday is coming up. I appreciate it. I've known Prince Riley all my life, so. That's correct. And I'm very proud and happy to know you and your family. Thank you and same here. Have a blessed day, all of you. All right, you too. Bye. Bye-bye.
Yeah. So again, if you watched it, I watched it. I'm going to be honest with you, man. I've been chairing for the African countries. I've been chairing for seven. How the Democratic Republic of Congo lost that match. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Time had almost run out, and they scored two goals. And then I think they catch them in what, extra time?
Man, it was so close. So I was cheering for them, Senegal. I think now, I think Kate Birdie is still in it. But yeah, I'm naturally rooting for the African countries right now. I think anybody who has the draw where they're in the same draw as the US or Mexico, you know, Mexico.
playing in that stadium, I guess, in Mexico City is they've only lost two matches in that stadium. So talk about a home field advantage that they have in terms of their next match in America. So, you know, Americans got through the knockout round. They haven't been this far quite a while, but losing, let me give you his name. That's going to be a big loss. I don't know if they're going to appeal that red card. You know, he got the red card because.
It looked like he stepped on the guy's ankle, but the replay shows that he barely grazed it. But that's that's a tough loss, you know, because it was going to be difficult them going forward. Just because now you're getting getting with the criminal to crime, you know, this next level. So let me give you this guy's name.
And here we go. His name is Balagun. And his backstory is that his mother was here on a visa. She was traveling back to Africa. And because she was pregnant, she couldn't make the flight. And so he was born here. And he ends up getting taught about birthright citizenship. He gets US citizenship.
So his name is floor la red Bella gun he gets red card will miss the Belgian game But there's another kid out here and and I don't know how much you all know about soccer if you follow it, but Malik Tillman Had a had a penalty kick that was almost perfect and that put America up to zero so America's next match will be against the Belgians
And I think that's up in Seattle. So is that Monday? Yep. Yep. Wow. Yeah, man. It was a good game yesterday, man. I watched it. Man, and the US actually looks good, man. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Good. And the number of black players on that team that's prominent. So like I said, obviously, you know, you've got a roof of the home team.
But like for those African teams that are still there Yeah, I'm definitely see what we got here Make sure I want to see who's still left But man the Democratic Republic and they got enough problems already the Democratic Republic So let's see who's still left Wow America is like
Okay, that was their group Okay, I'm pulling up the matches for more talk much for one for four four four five two five zero four one four four four four five two five zero Okay You guys building it's not showing who's still left though Here boy, so I'll pull that up
So, LeBron's leaving LA. Yeah, he's leaving LA. He, you know, told Rich Paul to talk to every team, let every team know he's available, but we know he's not coming to Milwaukee. We know he's not, you know, going to Sacramento. We know he's not going to Washington.
Utah, any of those teams, so those teams are out. He's not going back to LA because they just went and got three white guys that are supposed to be their future with Kessler and Austin Rees and Luca. So I guess that's the face of the team. I saw Stephen A. Smith going off about that. And so my guess is either Golden State
or they trying to build a super team in Miami. Because they actually going after Dame Lillard too in Miami. Don't know how that's going to happen. But yeah, they trying to build a super team. OK, and the African teams that are still playing is Algeria, Egypt, Cape Verde, Ghana.
And Morocco, so there's still African teams playing. Ghana has a pretty good chance at playing Columbia. I don't know how good Columbia is this year. Yeah, so, all right. David Brown going to Philly. He was going somewhere sound like because when they were talking about the...
the trade talks with Giannis his name came up as a as possible, you know trade so whatever he's done in in Boston, I don't know if he wore out his welcome in Boston or What it is and I mean, you know Paul George in this be like his 13th 14th year Yeah, Paul George is on a decline which
Makes no sense of why they would even trade for him But I think Boston was just tired of JP and they just wanted to get rid of him for whatever He was outspoken And and I think they just wanted him to shut up dribble and shoot and run Well, I do know when they did that I don't know if it's a 30 for 30 and they talked about Boston and the Celtics
And he was like Bill Russell. He was pretty honest about how racist a city Boston can be. So I don't know if that had anything to do with it. I don't know if it had anything to do with it. He just couldn't figure out that here situation. He was leaving marks. Well, I think it was because after this season and they lost and he said that this was his best season, they felt some kind of way.
But how can you tell this man how to feel and what he thinks is best for him? I mean, if he thinks he individually had a great season, let him live with that. How can you take that from him? And they played well with him when Tatum went down. Yeah. So like, I mean, Boston to do what Boston did speaks volume of who they are. And if I was
JT, I'll be trying to find my way up out of there, too. Well, let me do this because they said, I have not responded to their post. So let me respond to George's post. He said that Brown didn't request a trade. If it wasn't for him, the Celtics would not have made it to the playoffs. True. He was talking about the climbers as publicity stuff, a very good publicity stuff because they had every
Major cable news network focusing in on him. So yeah And then And then he said I was surprised I don't watch soccer But I was surprised that there were so many brothers, you know, I think I know I Have a nephew in Miami who's a real good soccer player his dad was a football player, but he's really picked up soccer He's he's gotten he's gotten good at it
Hey, man, look, and the money that you can make playing soccer without the impact that would have on your body playing football. Right. And why not? But you know, we were talking a little while ago about flopping. Right. If you don't know how to flop and soccer, you will not play. Man, because I tell you, them guys, I mean, how they just throw their hands on them and they
I mean, they fled like fish out of water, man. Like, like they just go nuts and then they get right back up and act like nothing happened. It's like, dude. Oh man, because, you know, it's rare that when you see the replay, it was like, dude, that wasn't as bad as you made it. I mean, you know, I mean, they, they, they, and I think a lot of European basketball players also play soccer. So flopping was just part of that's how you get the call.
You know like like just go down and stay down. They'll let the play and then see if it's coming back But man that that flopping that's out there is is just crazy man. It's it's Okay, so we got today. We've got Spain and Austria Creation Portugal and Switzerland and Algeria 414 445 250 414 444
five two five zero call and welcome to the program. Are you gonna be a little patient call back four one four four four four four five two five zero four one four. Got a call? Yep. Good morning. Good morning. Good morning. Am I riding in danger?
Brought me danger field. Yeah, but that went over it. But anyway, I was trying to I do not and Unless they know that we don't because if I had between, you know, it's kids with them on balls What's the life on ball you got some speaker Could you break it up? You got so speaker could you break it up? Sorry, yeah
What's it like to do it on Boston? Tatum. Tatum. If I had to choose between Tatum and Brown, I don't know about y'all, but I would keep Brown versus Tatum. Oh, I'd keep Tatum. Yes, I'm serious. You'd strip it. Probably. But let me ask you a question. Before they won the championship, who was turning the ball over, going the ball away, making all the booby mistakes before they won that championship? It wasn't Brown. It was Tatum.
He had his moments. He had his moments. And if it wasn't for, and if it wasn't for Brown last year, I'm not saying that the other guys didn't contribute. But if it wasn't for Brown, hold them together till Tatum got back where that little sunny did come back in. They wouldn't have made the playoff. Yeah, but now I'm talking about that. There's a different team when it's just Jaylen Brown and then it's Jaylen Brown and Tatum. I mean, I think it's just a different team.
So you think they gonna go further unless they trade George Paul? You think they gonna go further this year than they did last year without brown versus brown George Paul in there? I don't know. It seems like they're putting a lot of their money on the white kid. Is it Derrick White? Who is the ball kid? His last name is White, right?
Are you talking about Derrick White or did you say Derrick White? Yeah, Derrick White. So when I said the white kid, I wasn't talking about Pritzker. Oh, you were talking about his last name. Yeah, Derrick White. Yeah, yeah. They look, and look, dude, he made the Olympics. Wow. Derrick White versus Brown? Yeah, I think that they see the ball player. They see the upside on him more than they see the upside on Jalen Brown.
I don't see it. So, unless there was something going inside that we don't know about, I don't get it why they would trade him. It could also be a chemistry piece too. So, you don't think they play good together? Yeah, but I'm saying how they get along in the locker room, it could have been a whole lot that went into that. It seems that the fact that he was even mentioned. You don't think we've heard about that case?
If you don't think it was some problems going in within that locker room, you don't think we would hurt especially, especially from Steven A. No, no, we would hurt about that. You know, we didn't know much about what was going on in the bus locker room until dude requested trade. I don't I don't whether he requested a trade or not. They were talking about trading them. They've been talking about moving him for the last year.
I don't get it, Keith. I do not get it. But that's sports, right? Yep. And the other thing too, which I have put in some polls, I'm like, OK, I got a call. I guess I got a call in to get my questions answered. I don't watch soccer. You know, it's not one of those sports I really get into. So I did watch the beginning yesterday of the game. And I was totally, and I don't know about any of you guys.
again, I don't watch soccer. I was totally surprised to see as many brothers on the American team as it was. And so I guess my question to you, because I guess they got all these different teams, are they foreign Americans, the black guys on there? Yeah, most of them are. So all of them are, or can you say I want to play for this team?
No, I think all of them you you would have to in order you'd have to have some type of American status to play for the American team Okay, yeah, they all Americans again the the Baladon He's interesting because this his mom was here and she was pregnant and she couldn't go home and so Until she had delivered him and when she delivered him he got us citizenship
Well, he's an American and you born on America's all you're American. There you go. And then Antonio Freeman's son is on the team. Thank you, Curly. I forgot about that. His son is playing. So, uh, Antonio Freeman. Yeah, I knew that much. Yeah, I knew that much. Yeah, but they're pretty good team. Now again,
They have not, they don't have like the World Cup experience. Some of the other teams like Portugal, Argentina, I mean, these, these teams, England, even though England has not won a World Cup in more than 50 years. You know, so it's going to be, I think the experience piece is going to be how good they are going for it. But I think they do have a distinct advantage because they play at home.
So so we've never talked about the bucks trade and unless baby out in here you got your radio one cuz I'm here Yeah, let me I'm by my phone. I'm over by my phone. Let me turn it down Okay, is that better? Yeah Okay, so What do you guys think about the trade the bucks made? Winner winner chicken dinner. I think that way too
Not the only thing we got to get that I've been asking for for years If we could get a decent big man, I think we'll be all right because that dude from Indiana We got Tony. I don't know what kind of year you'll have this year if we don't get rid of but he disappointed me so bad and it was just like, okay, all of us included myself Was talking about getting rid of Lopez, right? Yeah, be careful what you wish for and that what they say
Well, well, well, well, George, you got to be careful too, because it's the system that they play in because the system he played in in Indiana was totally different than the system he played in under Doc. Yeah. And I think it takes time for teams to you got to have chemistry. This idea.
We got him and we got him. You could be great individual talents and then you have somebody out there and then I wonder who is the glue guy for the bucks. You know that that one player that Josh Hart that Draymond Green you know that that player out there that that can really that was real holiday. He was like the glue guy. You know. So I think they have to develop that level of chemistry. So quick.
question to you guys since we're talking trades and things. Now, there's a rumor floating around now, man, that the Bugs and I wouldn't do it, but they're talking about Tyler Hero and Miles Turner for Zion. No, he's too. He's too. And almost like, uh, like the honest to me. And really, you'd be trading him be like Tyler Hero. He's not on the phone.
If I had to take them, I'd rather keep Tyler Herald. At least he could shoot. Well, they was talking about. Well, they was talking about as far as. And as they heard. You know, putting, you know, putting butts in the seats and it could be a new start for him. But I don't think Zion is the answer to putting butts in the seats, though. I think you put butts in the seat with Tyler Herald because he's local.
You know and so you know you have that initially but at some point the bucks have to start winning I don't care Who you put up there trying to put you know wins put put meat in the seats. Yes You don't stay here anyway, I would think they probably gonna use it for a trade piece anyway, Tyler Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah because they are actually overcrowded at the guy spot because they got your boy in there that you pray so much
Listen, well, actually, actually, George, the one I'm hearing, and I don't know if there's any truth to this, but, you know, because they was waiting on Gary Trent to pick up his option or to sign because he had declined, but they said that he, that this spot is open, that he could go to Gary Trent because Burris, our draft pick from high school to college, war number five.
And his number now is zero. And so they was asking, is it because GT is coming back? But if he do come back, I'm sure that there's trades, because they got like 18 players if he come back, because the Usman Deng just signed for three years. Right. I'm glad they're champion. Yeah, yeah. So there's some trades coming. And I like those two young boys that they drafted.
Yeah, plus the one that got I don't really know much about the one they dropped the chance on me when they drafted 13. They were the 13. Yeah. Yeah. But they kept it. But they kept it. They drafted 10th from Arizona. He's a bona fide shooter. He's a shot. Can he come in and play right away? Yeah, they saw him play in Arizona. You know, again, that's that's that's college. I don't know if these guys can come in and they're going to have an instant impact on the team.
Well, he said, well, from what the NBA scouts are saying, they said he is NBA ready. He has a NBA body. I got all of that. That's the potential. But I'm saying, will he come in and really have, well, either one of these players have any real impact in terms of significant minutes being played and then productive minutes being played? Well, yeah. Well, let me have you know, unless I'm going to get off and let other people call. But do you think that doc, because I'm kind of here to residency.
they keep them. But do you think that's the way doc Colchamestum up in this game this year? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Gary and how Gary. What is with and you know, what is with this y'all with these undersized guards? Are you thinking but he's you only got one game. He's the undersized guards man. The NBA is about soon. It's about duty and it's also about guarding.
You are right about that. You know, we do have some guards on our team that couldn't even like always saying y'all laugh with guard Brenda. He's one. Yeah, AJ Green is another one. Yeah, but don't nobody play defense, George. Nobody. Damian Lillard.
I don't pay Damian Little to play defense. Yeah, but I pay Damian Little to get 28 points a game. But he's not giving you 28 points a game. But what I'm saying is this, we keep saying defense, defense, defense. Nobody plays defense. That's not true. Nobody, except for Giannis. That's not true. Or I play defense. Man, bro. Who's gonna play defense? They play defense. Man, don't, who? Who, Keith, who?
Kuzma plays defense. Hunter plays defense. Kuzma. That's the dumbest thing. Let me do this because we're going to get hot up in here.
You're listening to Community Voice. The phone line's open. 414-444-525-0. 414-444-525-0. It will be right back.
What?
you
All right, welcome back. Caller. You pointed at me, man. Caller, welcome. Welcome. That's a program. You know, Rick, Rick from Germany called in on the big dog show yesterday and talked to Al Saufflin and reported y'all.
I heard about that, man. That's what I was about to add. You know what? I'm glad you said that. I was going to execute. I heard about that. Somebody said that that Rick called into the Al Sharpton show and said that your show was going off the air because of alcohol or something like that, man. I don't know what. No, that's not what he said. That's not what he said. He said you guys were sport. He said you were talking about alcohol and you were talking about sports and you ended yourself that he thought wasn't.
You know, he just that's what he said. And then he said, he was talking about alcohol and alcohol is killing them because he used alcohol to kill the parasites. Marty from Germany, ain't no way we don't 30 nights and seven or something. But I like Germany. He's got a little Germany. He goes around 28 and burlap. Hey, man, he made it.
He made his sense. He went on syndicated radio. Yeah, I heard about that. And said, the Keith Perry show in Milwaukee is trash. He did say that because somebody mentioned it to me. Amen, I gotta go, man. That is true. That is true. Somebody mentioned that to me that he called into Al Sharpton's show and said something about going off the air and alcohol.
Keith Perry's show is all, yeah, I don't know where he got it from. I don't think we was talking about alcohol. Yeah, we did. Well, I mean, not using it like that.
No, we were talking about our experiences. We were talking about what happens to you when you're under the influence and why I don't drink anymore and why we don't drink anymore. And what happens about, you know, when you find yourself in that situation and you send God, if you take me up out of this, I'll never do it again. So we won glorified alcohol. So I don't know where. What was going to happen? Reverend Sharpton is going to put me on time out. I mean, what?
While he was going, while he was going to call you and say, keep it real, keep it real. Yeah, but that's crazy for him to call it a national syndicated show and say Keith Parrish show from Milwaukee is trash. Yeah, doc, you, you. Yeah, you. And I'm sure a whole lot of people out there.
Who the hell is Keith Parris? Right. Well, I mean, are you famous now? You famous now because Al Sharpton repeated your name. Just like they said in 11, you ain't famous unless you hate it, though. I mean, but for him to even call and say that now some of the stuff he has called in and said, you know, I have actually got off the air and scratched my head numerous times. But when I heard about that,
I actually heard about that last night. So it's funny that the caller even called in and said that because I was going to say something to you and it slipped my mind. And then it seemed like the caller really relished. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Then do you see that there was a certain level of joy? Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He was rolling in mustard. Yeah. Like he was. It's not like he was calling in to defend me. So like he was almost endorsing the endorsement of the sentiments.
All right, Carl, welcome to the program. You know. Hello? All publicity is not bad. Can you take us off the speakerphone? Take us off speaker. Yeah. All publicity is not bad, you know. But do you have to think about the source sometime that unleashes things. And if you listen to the caller as he calls from time to time, you'll know it ain't all wrapped up tight.
The bowl was real loose. The paper's falling off the side of the heat. So, you don't, you don't consider the source of where it came from. Well, someone put in the chat that the man said you guys were celebrating the use of alcohol when you guys were going off the air. He did not say you guys were trash. Well, who was celebrating then, though?
I mean, nobody wants to celebrate. No, you weren't celebrating. You was talking about the fact is when you used to keep playing something about when he had went back on it before, I listened to the program pretty much. But the thing was, it wasn't a glorified situation. But again, consider the source. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And, and, and, and, you know, like you said, now you're famous. Yeah.
Anyway, I won't get into something as it relates to Reverend Sharpton and myself. When we have these conversations, first of all, we're adults, right? And there's a sign that at this Methodist Church on Center Street, it says that every saint has a past.
Every center has a future, right? Oh, yeah And and so when you you think about those things that you did that you experienced in your life You know you talk about now. Hopefully you you learn You learn from those experiences. It took a couple times to learn that you know if you do excessive drinking you're gonna get real sick but I'm just saying it's a part of it and
and we should be able to have adult conversations is not glorifying but at the same time is not putting it down I mean people so my thing is Keith we had the conversation yesterday on the air if he felt some kind of way why he didn't call in and share his feelings because that like you you are that kind of host that you give
people the opportunity to share how they feel. So if you really felt some kind of way, you could have caught into the show and shared your feelings instead of calling a show that had no clue about what we was talking about. Yeah, because I'm sure he was going like, who is, who is Keith Parris? Well, okay. Well, people listening. But no, I just think when we had these conversations, because we, we can, we're off course, we have very serious conversations.
I know certainly when we have conversations around sexuality, we have conversations around religion. You know, I mean, it is, and I just believe that everybody has a seat at the community table. No opinion is no more important than another opinion, but at the same time, you know, and then it also celebrates the diversity of how we view the world. I got to call it. No, sir. No, sir.
I said, I had to call it. You were a little slow on the uptick, though, when Michelle was telling me to cut me off. I was kind of going like, you might have to tell him two, three times, Michelle, before he could get to the button. Hello? OK, yeah. Sorry about that, Minda. We was doing live production live on air. All right. Somebody put yesterday, they thought it was funny. We had production meetings. They thought that was funny.
Wait, wait, somebody say don't believe that right out. Oh, well, yeah, yeah Well, you know, sometimes you're gonna have production means live and in person, you know, you know, we're doing it live. Yeah I'm just so glad that you're here to begin a program right out because I know sometimes you could you can step out. So yeah, you know, sometimes, you know
Like, right when you get ready to go on the air, I have to step away and handle some business. Like, I didn't have 30 minutes before. I do the same thing. Why are you doing this now? With you, you had to... Anyway. All right, so you said that... And let me... I was getting ready to go on a rant. No disrespect.
You know, I admire people that are just ballers. But I'm telling you, man, in the NBA, it's hard to win with undersized guards. I'm just... You know, that is true. You know, I mean, I'm just saying, obviously, New York proved that you could win with an undersized guard, you know, in Jalen Brunson, but he becomes the outlier. Yeah. He's not the rule.
And so those guys become contributors. Gary Trent has a great game, but he's a contributor. Gary Trent is not going to be averaging 25 points a game. I mean, it's just not in what he does. Unless, with this new system, that they increase his volume of shots. Yeah, but if they increase the volume of shots, it's probably going to be the volume of misses that's going to go up, too.
Yeah, I believe that too. You know, so I'm just, I think, you know, sometimes, and again, people define the numbers now. I was just kind of processing this Jalen Brown going to fill it. It gives them another score. I mean, somebody who can create a shot. Yeah, but how are you going to run that lineup with Maxi, VJ? Because when they sent everybody, but the team manager on, indeed.
He passes the ball out and you get guys who can create. So you saying that you will play JB at the two or at the three? Because his position is basketball, all I'm saying is you have another player who can break down a defense. And I think that's something Paul George could not do. He's old, man. No disrespect to old people. I'm old. He's old.
Jalen Brown still has a lot of physical potential anyway. Yeah, but that's a better that's a better deal. Yeah, but Keith, to be honest, Jalen Brown is considered old in NBA years because he's 30 with that knowledge on his. Yeah, but he's 30. But we peak our athletic peak is between 28 and 30, which is true.
But you also got those miles on your body from NBA. I got that, but so does everybody else. Yeah, but not the young cats. Yeah, but the young cats don't know how to play yet. Well, when you look at young cats like VJ Edgecomb that plays for Philly, now he was the shooting guy. So when you bring in Jalen Brown, Jalen Brown is like, what, 6'5"? Yeah, and he's about 20 to 22 points a game.
I get it, but where are you going to play them at? Are you going to play them at the two or at the three? Yeah, but I get it, but if you run all of those guards like that, you too small on your back court. Not really. If he's six, five, Maxi's about what, six, three? Yeah, but but again, though, you're looking at small fours being six, seven, six, eight, six, nine, six. Okay.
I think, I think you can, he can defend the three, Jaylen Brown, he can defend the three, he can defend the two. So I think you figure it out. You put it out there because again, we're getting away from this one, two, three, four, you know, I mean, it's position is basketballs, your ability to keep moving, keep the ball moving, right? Being operated space, you know, and then they have a very strong post presence in Joel and B.
I think Philly benefits from the trade. Well, I mean, I want to think about MB, man. I hate to say it, but I think he's on the downturn from the injuries and his knees, man. And as a big man trying to move and post up down low, and yeah, man, I think it's pretty much. If you don't tell the scoring threats, that takes the pressure. It takes some pressure off of him. Of course, of course, yeah.
So let me let me do this real quick to speaking of age. I did get a chance to watch Serena Williams third set. Oh, yeah. And yeah, man, she's 44. And you can tell. Oh, yeah, it was I mean, she looks like she's in phenomenal shape. I mean, it was like, but she's 44. There were shots that this young woman hit that normally she would run down. She didn't try to. Yeah, because yeah, because when you're
When your body tells you that you can't move like that anymore You know that you got to listen to your body man. Yeah, and I think now give her credit I mean that the fact that she would even want to give it a try at 44 There is a woman her name is Diana Nyad and Diana Nyad just started off. She was an Olympic swimmer and she had been trying to swim from
Cuba to Key West. And every time she did it, something came up. I mean, she... Oh, I remember that. Right. I remember that. But she finally crossed it when she was like 60 something. Yeah, I remember that. Yeah. So, you know, but that again, that's an exception. That's not the rule. You know, like I heard, I don't know who said it the other day. They said father time has never lost. Undefeated. Undefeated.
And you might be able to be LeBron where you defy it, but obviously there are things that LeBron could do when he was 22, when he was 23 that his body won't let him do now. Yeah, I bet you he can't play back-to-back games like he used to. Oh man, I mean, people like Yannis is hard for them to do back-to-back. I mean, that's, you know, the physical toll.
that the sport takes on you, takes on your body, and then you factor in things like travel, all these other things. I don't know, I think probably, it sounds like Boston wanted to move Jaylen Brown. Anyway, I think Philly can benefit from it. And then, how about, what do you even say, a quiet letter going back to Toronto? I ain't gonna make too much a note.
you know, of that because Kawhi is pretty old too. So, um, yeah, they got a superstar name, but my question is, are you going to get the superstar play? Well, can it be on the floor? That's, yeah. So that, that, you know, when you get in your thirties and, you know, you play for so long and running up and down, the pain hits you differently. Um, you know, compared to when you were in your twenties, man, and you, and you don't bounce back.
Yeah, it's quickly man your body heals so quickly when you're in your 20s 30s, but man after a while I'm a little witness to that Yeah, it takes time to to build to build that strength back Because you are older. Yeah. Yeah, that is true man. Hey, man
I I still want to play your protease a man I still want to put hands on you and I'm putting out there that a DJ if you listening the offer still stands man I got my ball in the court in the car. So whenever you ready I'm ready for you Keith are you there? Oh Keith go
He didn't sign off, but we could sign off. It's about that time Well, we don't know what happened to Keith. So this is live. So we go He didn't pay his bill. Keith we go ask you to pay your bill so they don't turn off your spider fall He went over his minutes. He's peak minutes, you know
I received the I received the phone call and when I received a phone call it goes through the tablet. Oh, I thought you didn't pay your bill. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We we you know, I'm gonna say boy, spiders don't play. Yeah, man. He's still got the pager. He said the pager. Yeah, man. I got a beeper.
The two in the beeper the same as a page and same difference. Yeah, but you know, that's what we call it like you got a beeper. You got a beeper. Now, why was it that any and everybody that had a beeper, especially if you was in church, put them preachers, you're a drug dealer. No, not a drug dealer. Yeah. Well, most, most, most people with beepers are either an on-call physician or drug dealer or
Which is another name for a drug dealer on call physician. On call for your job. But yeah, primarily the technology was used by drug dealers. Yeah. But I think that that was judgment, man, because a lot of preachers used to judge a lot of young people like that. Like you'll see them with the beeper on the hip. You got some people on your hip. But you guys got to remember other than the brick phone when beepers were prominent, you didn't have cell phones. Right. Yeah.
I had a cell phone. In your car? Well, I am in your fiat. No, no, no. So I remember the great. I had the fiat. You had the great phone. Did you pull up the antenna? Yeah. But that's what I'm talking about. They weren't prominent. Well, no, no, it wasn't like it was now. You see seven year olds with phones. Yeah, in the back, several times. This was seen in the gang's deletion. The bag phone. Remember the bag phone? Yeah. Listen, I remember my daddy came out the house one time.
Because he's always riding Cadillacs and staying in Lankans. And they had a briefcase. It was a briefcase with a phone in it. And I'm like, why you got a briefcase with a phone in it? But it was a radio. And it was expressive to use. Yeah, it was radio. I think that that was the beginning of technology. It was radio technology. And then they went to this kind of point to point.
And and not even now we call We call it like our phones are cell phones, but technically they're not their mobile phones, right? You know, so we made that transition from You know the flip phone the big phones everybody remember Miami Vice. Yeah And who had the phone the drug dealers? Yeah, but but when you think now man, I look at technology and Howard, you know everything pretty much that you can
do on a computer you can do right on your phone and on this little bitty device yeah that's the that's the scary part about it because back in the day then when we was younger like we used to try to scramble the tv so we could see uh stuff we weren't supposed to see on the uh on the cable tv is it hey is the statute of limitations up on that man hey i ain't talking about it i might still get a whooping from that but uh
But now it's right there in your hands and you can just put certain words in and it's popping up. So fifth, all type of stuff is available to anybody. Man, when I worked at this particular phone company, man, and yeah, I've had a lot of jobs for those that listen. I always talk about different industries because you try different things until you find something that sticks that you really like.
But you'd be surprised how many people would come in with that FBI screen where they'd unlocked it. Yeah, exactly. They're watching forbidden stuff. Yeah, yeah. It'd be amazing. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah. They would lock your phone up, man. I know. All that stuff they was watching. Yeah. Remember when they were talking about R. Kelly and that p-tape? Yeah.
And they were saying if you had it on your phone, you were in possession of child pornography. Yeah, I had it on DVD though. You're in possession of child pornography. And I think I still got it too. You know, it's funny how necessity drives technology, right? And when you think about, you know, who do you think made VHS tapes popular? Oh.
what made VHS popular? Yeah. Who were the first people to actually use VHS tapes? What, girls going wild? Those people, I don't know. It was porn. It's the porn industry. Yeah. And they were able to because there were issues around HIV and AIDS. And so people would stop going to the bookstores, stop going to the theaters, but then you could just, they could send you a tape.
And then Hollywood figured out, like, let's put it on tape. I don't know if y'all remember, I had the conversation with Michael Schultz and he was talking about Cooley High and how he had gotten all that music for $3,000, right? He said, but then when they put it on VHS, a lot of that music didn't go on there. He was saying because VHS now kind of changed the game, but it was really the porn folks who started using VHS before the studios did. Yeah, you're right. You're right.
All right, y'all. Well, man, we got a long weekend coming up. It's going to be so weird, man. Yeah. Because I have a medical. I got to go in for an MRI tomorrow, which is crazy because tomorrow is actually the holiday. So let me thank Sister Michelle Pitts-Luckett. Let me thank Ms. Farina Brooks. Clark Kent, thank you. All right, all right. All right. Jermaine, right out. Thank you. Indeed, Jack. Thank you.
