Stephen Gentlin bringing you tonight's game against the Rib Lake Redmond are up here in Park Falls as we try to defend

our home field.

Eagle is looking for a second win on the season here and honestly looking for the first win at home last week.

We lost pretty hard to the loggers, but now it's a new day.

It's a new week.

I think that's one of the beautiful things about football is the is once the one game ends, you already think about the next one and here we are looking at Rib Lake thinking we can beat them win and get the we haven't scored in two weeks.

It's been three weeks since we last scored and I'm just going to see some points here tonight.

Maybe maybe we can get Cole Kraus moving or Nick Nichols or Nate Nichols or Mark Oscar Veric ripping one down the sideline.

See what Ethan Otterson can do today.

I'm excited to see what the Schwalmingen Eagles offense can put together.

And last week I'm even more excited Dawson Minimo was absolutely destroying the offensive line of the loggers.

I think he had some like four sacks, couple tackles for loss, bubble recoveries.

He was everywhere and I want to see if he can't duplicate another monster game here tonight.

All right, looking at the rosters for Rib Lake.

It looks like Blake Henderson will be there starting quarterback junior.

They have one senior on their squad and he plays offensive line and the linebacker Jack Jensen.

I imagine I'll be talking about him here a little bit.

Otherwise we have a roster full of a lot of freshmen.

So young squad and hopefully the Eagles can take advantage of that.

and move forward in here.

I know the Eagles got themselves a nice big roster themselves with a lot of freshmen, but they carry themselves.

A lot of seniors in juniors looking at the weather here today.

We are a balmy.

What is that?

58 degrees and right now there's a reprieve, but the rain will pick back up here pretty soon.

Probably the end of the first, maybe the second quarter.

So football does not wait for rain.

You know, so I will see how this game will evolve.

And if it really starts to rain, okay, you're gonna start looking at temperature drops and even though it's gonna stay that you know 56 58 degrees when it's really raining it starts to feel cold out there So it's gonna really come down to which squads can adjust can adapt I when you're when you're playing a physical sport like football and you're cold every hit just stings a little bit harder It stings a little bit longer and really you can start to see which

squad is just tougher.

And so that toughness can really bubble to the surface and really begin to determine outcomes on a drive and maybe even the outcome of the entire game.

So we're getting excited pregame for the swan for football here tonight for the swan excriminals is almost underway and we will be headed to kick off here pretty soon.

We got football here for you tonight.

Stephen Jelen bringing you the game hosting the Ridley Redman here tonight as the national anthem has concluded.

Thank you to our veterans and the Legion coming out and presenting the flags for us here and we are garing up.

I know a rainy day usually means a small crowd, but when I stick my head outside the window, I see a lot of people around.

this entire grounds over in the parking lot still coming in love to see the support for the local team families coming out having a lot of fun and getting there I can see that they're getting their snacks now I know you don't really want the rain coming down on your hot dog so while it's not raining getting that brought getting that popcorn and getting excited for some good football all right

So there's no secret, as long as we can scream at Eagles, have had a rough go of it the last couple weeks.

Like I had said already, if you're just joining us, the Eagles have yet to score in the last two contests.

So it's been three weeks since we've seen a touchdown for the squad.

And at the same time, they've given up 110 points in the last two weeks.

combined so you're you're in a historic drought what feels like and you're just it just feels like today I mean like I was watching practice seeing the pregame it feels like today is the day right and I don't have anything to face that and all that then I think I mean I'm feeling it as the announcer I know the the kids are feeling it all the coach and staffs feeling it so it feels like the A game is here today and we're going to see some points I'm going to get to call some touchdowns

I'm Jones in for some touchdowns guys.

I love getting excited.

I love calling that out and we'll see who gets to carry that pig skin over the line.

So Ethan Audison will be our starting quarterback as usual.

This year has been his first year at the QB position.

So it's been an interesting go watching him play as I do think that he's got talent at that position.

Okay.

From what I've been able to observe right and I'm just up here.

I'm not on the coaching.

I'm not on the

film room or um the practice squad but he's definitely still working on his mechanics which makes sense first year in soft form but you can definitely tell there are a few throws where you're like okay i can see why they have him at that position his ability to air it out and the fact that he's six five right he's not a world beater when it comes to speed but he's not slow right so he's got the size he can see over the linemen and if he can really begin to leverage that and really start to

throw with anticipation, right?

And be able to lead receivers, throw to a spot, let the players come to it.

And I don't think he needs to be a quarterback that needs to force plays, right?

If he can just allow the game to come to him and really allow his playmakers to do exactly that, make plays.

I do think that Mark Oskar-Varick has been a breath of fresh air this year.

Nate Nichols has been awesome.

Cole Krause, you know, sophomore himself,

it seems like whenever he gets the ball he has a couple big electric plays going so it's like I just think that uh getting the ball into their hands is what they need to really work on really get that rolling okay I think Aiden Bushman senior is another big potential so it's not about talent here right you would think oh wow we haven't scored in three weeks is it a talent issue no it's not a talent issue it's just things

our new things haven't really fully come together.

A lot of these players at their position are at new positions and just I know this is the coach's second year.

So there's just a lot of newness here and every week is another chance to get better at those things.

You know, I do think the play calling needs to maybe get simpler.

I think the we've had too many turnovers off of the double fake reverses in the backfield, the double handoffs.

You're just making your job harder, and if you're fumbling the ball, then you get less reps on offense, right?

It's like, you know, first down, you run a double reverse, and the ball gets fumbled well.

Yeah, maybe you don't score on that drive, but you just lost it, and you don't get your three downs to potentially try to convert that stuff.

So, you know, it's not about, I don't like the term like dumb it down, that's not what I'm going for, but it is, it's in a simplifying, right?

Is there a way to simplify your playbook?

Simplify your pastries, your route trees for your wide receivers, more drag routes, more cuts, more slants, more curl routes, whatever that is, to kind of get Ethan into a rhythm, right?

As much as the post, the corner, the fly route, the go route, as fun as those are, you know, you got to get your QB in rhythm.

Now, freaky stat, okay?

Because they're getting the special teams going for the kickoff.

The Swalming and Screaming Eagles, right?

They have elected to receive every single game, and they're going to do that again here today.

So they're receiving the ball every single game.

The opponent opposing team has onside kicked it to start the game.

And in every single game, the opposing team recovered that opening onside kick to start a game.

It is literally the freakiest thing I've ever seen in football as a running staff.

And if it happens again here today, there'll be five for five on onside kicks.

They didn't recover to start a game.

So I'm really excited.

to potentially see the Eagles actually receive the ball and start an offense to start a game.

I'm not trying to be mean, but that is wild, okay?

So here we go.

First quarter, here comes the kick, whistles in, onside, and it goes under, and the Eagles fall on top of it.

There it is.

The streak has been broken.

The curse has been broken.

The Eagles get to start out on offense to start the game for the first time this year.

They did not give up the onside kick for the first time.

to start a game this year.

Oh my goodness.

See, I told you I was feeling it.

I told you that there's going to be something different here today.

And here we go.

I'm going to call it right now.

Scoring drive.

Okay.

Blake Henderson quarterback for the red.

The Rip Lake also playing defensive end.

I'm going to be watching him here today as he's one of their leaders on the team.

Looks like they got themselves a four man front here.

Eagles in motion, pulling it to the right.

Ethan keeps running right, has his blockers able to fight forward, pumping his legs.

He did about a four-yard gain, making it second in six at the Eagles 46-yard line.

Nice little rush to start the game.

They pulled Cole Cross in motion to the right to join and have a two tight ends on the right side, and then that was the direction they ran.

I love it.

Don't need to do the fakes.

Get your guys in position.

and start running guys over, all right?

We're Blake, we're able to adjust, but you know, if you're, if they had a four-man rush unit here and it looks like the Eagles are going with the same formation with five linemen, two tight ends, one on each side, Ethan and Shotgun, okay, Cole in motion to the right, set again, Ethan keeps, now it's a sweep to the right side, he's got space, down the line, breaks one tackle and taken down out of bounds, but not after a first down happens, and then some.

as the Eagles enter into Rib Lake territory on the second play of their offense.

They are now at the 42-yard line of Rib Lake, and that's first and 10, with 11-10 seconds here in the first quarter.

0-0, we're almost a minute into this game, and the Eagles are now in Rib Lake territory.

Okay.

Getting ready for the next play.

Five linemen two tight ends one on each side shotgun for Ethan All right Getting set motion left this time tight end set now Ethan keeps going left following his blockers runs forward falls forward for another four to five yard game I am a huge proponent of Running a play until the defense proves they can stop it right so far the Eagles have run essentially the same play

They just kind of reverse the direction they went there where they bring the Titan in motion either to the right or the left there and There's really there's no fake in there.

There's the quarterback.

It's like good now.

I got all my blockers on the left I'm running left.

So all right five linemen two tight ends one on each side shotgun motion left getting set ball hiked Ethan keeps

has to cut it inside.

He's got the

space, cuts it right.

Now he's got room.

Can he beat the corner?

One guy to beat.

Stiff arms.

Jump past him.

Get into the end of the touchdown.

Swabic is screaming and he goes.

Ethan Otterson breaking

the no scoring of the last three weeks.

And here we are.

The Eagles have a lead here at home.

6-0.

Nice play by Ethan.

Cuts it inside, right?

Then he has to beat a guy.

And instead of doing that, he goes, you know what?

I'm a stiff arm him.

get some pushes him down jumps over him.

And then after that he's got no one to beat gets into the end zone touchdown.

Schwammig and screaming Eagles.

There we go.

Spent a hot minutes.

I've been able to call a touchdown.

It feels good.

OK, two point conversion coming in here in a moment.

OK.

All right, now we got some receivers here.

Three receivers, two left, one right and in shotgun.

Ethan calls the ball.

He's holding, looking for his receiver.

Decides to keep, throws it over and it's batted down in complete pass.

Nice job of the safeties of Rib Lake to get that one and prevent any more points being scored.

But nonetheless, your Swamig and Screamin Eagles are in the lead six to zero in their home field.

They get their first onside kick recovery to start a game finally and they drive.

and open up this game with a score.

Nice job by Ethan Ottison.

Way to set the mood and the pace.

They literally just ran the ball four times in a row.

They ran the same play four times in a row.

And honestly, in that fourth play where Ethan goes left, falling as tight ends, it looked like Rib Lake was finally going to play it.

They had some guys get some penetration and they were going to go for the tackle.

But Ethan found the correct running lane.

cut it up, and then once he was in space, he had a decision to go left or right, cut it inside, and then he was off for the races.

Nice job, good vision, good read by your quarterback of the Schwalmingen Screaming Eagles.

Okay, here comes Cole Krauss with the kick.

It's going to be a squib, and Rib Lake is going to be able to jump on top of that

one,

and it'll be now Rib Lake's first time to show their offense here in Park Falls.

They're gonna begin their contest at their own 43 yard line first and 10 All

right

All righty Rib like they got themselves five linemen two tight ends on the right quarterback Keep running up the middle runs into a bunch of white and green couple yard game That's two

Second and eight now here.

For Rib Lake.

All right, now they're spreading out.

Three wide receivers, all three on the right side, tight ends on the left, but he's on the line.

Shotgun ball hike, look.

It's almost a screen, but he kind of flicked out of his hand, had to readjust.

It was a broken play, but a great adjustment in a first down by Blake Henderson.

He went to throw the wide receiver screen to the right immediately, but the ball slipped out of his hand.

So then he like caught the ball right in front of him and just ran forward.

Juke the guy able to get the first down.

There you go.

That's one of those you get back with a huddle and say, yep, totally meant to do that.

Great playmaking by him, moves the chains.

And now they are in Eagle Territory, but the Eagle's 45 yard line, first intent.

Five linemen, two tight ends left, fall, direct snap, up the gut, Blake following his guys, he'll fall forward for a nice eight yard

gain.

Blake didn't even get to full speed, he just basically followed his guys as they just pushed the entire green wall back.

For a huh while amazing eight yard gain on that rush.

It's gonna be second and two now at the 40 42 42 yard line ish so Excuse me 38 I can count there we go Okay Five linemen two tight ends left shotgun ball hike Blake holding and I don't know if he's gonna get that first down.

He's short Look at the yard.

So it's me third and one

But the Eagles build much better job of making sure that that play before didn't happen again Man, I might shift over my big nose tackle.

I don't know if they would run up the gut again, but I mean Why not?

All right substitution coming in for rib leg It was number 14 Kylan Bart Bartelt Bartelt sorry if I pronounced his name wrong

He's

lining up in the tight end position on the left side, and we have a receiver on the right.

All righty, motion, fall hike, hand off up the gut.

He runs into guys, and that looks like it's going to be short, fourth down.

Going to be four down territory, I believe.

I don't think they're going to punt, but it is short.

That's like a foot to go, right?

Seeing what the court of the quarterback's on with the coach is coming back out He's going to deliver the play here and they're going to get themselves rolling Seven minutes and 30 seconds remain this first quarter Eagles leads six to zero after an opening draw opening drive touchdown for Blake looking to answer with their own opening drive touchdown three wide receivers left Shotgun ball height looking for the wide receiver screen and it's caught

The one that came in, Kylan Bartelt.

That is an interesting, interesting play they put there.

They were able to throw through traffic, get that little wide receiver screen.

It looks like the quarterback actually threw it ahead of him, but great adjustment by Kylan.

They were able to get that first down and now the balls at the Eagles 31 yard line, first in 10, Rib Lake.

Okay.

Two three bar receivers right shotgun All right, all right play looking find this guy's left he throws it deep and it's me way over the head of the intended receiver then number 12 number 14 again.

I was the intended receiver and Blake who I just realized is lefty love in those lefty quarterbacks It makes sense why they have that extra blocker on the right side

I was like, oh, they're running the Titan on the right side and he's not running around.

So he's just protecting the weak side of the quarterback.

And still, the Eagles got good penetration to rush that throw.

All right, Blake back in shotgun through, wide receivers right.

Helen is in slot.

He's in the block, bounced off of a helmet, almost picked off and went off the hand.

Oh, man.

That was so close.

First off, if he caught that, that would have been one of the catches of the entire year.

Boinked off a helmet was flipping and then a eagle had to dive trying to catch that on its bigger tips.

Oh boy, whoo That would have been exciting third and ten now for Ripley.

All right Ripley clicking to air it out here after they were running the ball around it successfully a little surprise that they Trying to air it out as they did

It's

more about when they did it, not that they did it.

All right, two tight ends to the right, everyone else on the line.

Ball hiked, Blake, hand off, up the gut, going left on the counter, runs over a guy, gets a lot of yards, but that's going to be

about

what, a seven yard gain?

All righty, the first down marker, yeah, so about four yards.

Okay, so fourth and four.

We're blinks definitely pretty deep in the Eagles territory, so they're not gonna be punting so I mean you get to stop here Obviously, it's awful, but it's not like you're giving a bad deal position the ball is on The 25 yard line of the Eagles and the first down marker is at the 21 yard line.

So here we go fourth down receiver left We got five on the line And the tight end of the right ball hiked hand up with the gut

And that's going to be a swatting and

screaming eagle.

Stop.

No gain at all.

And who else would be there?

But Dawson Minema,

who was absolutely all over that play, was a stone wall.

No one could get by him.

Number 21 got the ball.

That's Grant Beard.

He's a sophomore.

Grant Beard is huge.

I love it.

Man, Grant Beard had a good, already a good couple of rushing plays this drive.

But on that one,

got stone walled and that is a turnover on down.

Schwalming and Scrimmage goes takeover on offense and here we go.

Five linemen, two tight ends, one on each side.

Cole Cross on the left and I believe that Nate Nichols on the right.

Ethan and Shaka.

by two that's going to be a penalty

to take that ball almost 35 yards on the rush it'll either be holding or illegal block in the back dang it and that was right in front of the rep too like the rest of the rep the through the flag was about two two yards from where that was so we'll see that maybe if

I don't think there would be a defensive penalty, but we'll see.

It's from the spot of the foul.

And

so either way, it's going to be about after all is said and done.

It's going to be a 15 yard gain, but man, it would have been at the opponent's 40, but now it's at your own 39.

So still a great run by Cole Krause.

The penalty brought it back quite significant, but you stood out the first down.

Here we go, first and 10.

Five linemen, two tight ends, one on each side, motion left.

He's set, ball hiked, Ethan keeps falling his blockers, getting his face going right, breaks the tackle, and is brought down after about six yards.

And

now it's second down and four.

Right now the Eagles are really showing their mel right now.

They came out with a very clear

game plan that this game is going to be one of the offensive line and they are just really keeping this game on the ground.

I'll be honest, the clouds kind of cleared up.

I was looking at the radar expecting that rain to come in.

Let me pull the radar up here again because I wonder if the game plan was set forward.

Yeah, look at that.

That all dissipated.

We might have ourselves a rather dry game going forward.

I mean, the grass is wet, but

Here we go.

Ball, handed off, looking first base.

Doesn't really find a hole.

Good job by Rib Lake, kind of getting on top of that.

And

Aiden Bushman really had nowhere to go.

So he's going to stay third and four now.

It's kind of a slow handoff.

Yeah, I'm looking at the radar here.

That all just dissipated right above us too.

So it looks like no rain going forward unless something else explodes.

Interesting.

Yeah, how about that?

OK, five linemen, two tight ends, one of these sides, shotgun.

Four minutes and 13 seconds remain in the first quarter.

Cole Krauss in motion to the right, ball handed off.

Ethan is running forward and that is swallowed up.

No gain.

In fact, he might have lost him.

You are there and four minutes now remain in the first quarter.

It is now fourth and five year in your own territory and I can't help but wonder if the Eagles are going to punt here.

They lead six to zero I See some substitutions coming in Dawson Minema Number 81 the Scholar Otteson's in there.

I wonder I'm pretty sure that's their pun package Going forward Oh No, well or not.

Oh, no isn't like oh, no isn't I'm wrong.

I'm excited Nate is that Nate Nichols is at the quarterback position motion left

He's set, ball hiked, he's keeping, he's got to go around the corner,

cuts it inside, jumps forward at the first down, nice job by Nate Nichols.

He gets tackled, or about to be tackled, two yards behind the line, or behind

the first out marker, and he's able to kind of leap forward and leap forward, reach forward, and get that first down.

Great play, young man.

It is now at the 49 yard line of Rib Lake, and the Eagles able to confer it.

That was a nice job by Nate Nichols to get that rolling, and a

Gutsy play call to do the quarterback sweep, but with their running backs.

So, uh, wow, Kat, Beth, and I couldn't think of the term.

I'll sit here the whole time.

Okay.

Alrighty.

First and 10.

Five linemen, two tight ends.

You know the drill.

All right.

Motion left.

It's a fake handoff.

Cole gets it.

Oh, he's able to put his shoulder down, run through it and get plus seven yards.

As they fake the ball to who they fake that to.

Either way, it was one of their tight ends.

And then a candid obstacle, Krause, he went right, able to break one tackle.

And then he put his shoulder down and rolled over another guy.

And, you know, he got probably another three yards off that first contact.

It's turning into about a six yard game.

Second and four.

2 minutes and 20 seconds remain in the first quarter.

The Eagles lead 6-0 looking to drive to put even more points on the board.

OK, Aiden Bushman is on the right, Cole Cross on the left.

Five linemen.

Here comes Aiden.

Fake handoff, Ethan's keeping it and he's just sacked.

Oh, I

thought that

was Ethan.

It was not.

It was Nate Nichols once again in the Wildcat.

He gets absolutely exactly like an eight or nine yard loss.

And we're not looking at third and 14.

Huge play by Rib Lake to really stifle what the offense have been doing this entire time.

I can't help but wonder, hmm, if you can get 10 yards on this play here, it's back to Ford for.

down territory, right?

Nate Nichols in the backfield.

Ball hike, looking, looking to throw, throws the ball, it's over his head incomplete, fourth down and 14.

He had an open receiver, number nine, Preston Negri, who could not, I mean, he was in position, the ball was overthrown, he just couldn't get to the ball at

all.

Probably going to punt.

There's no use giving up just three yards like that.

Rib Lake getting their second chance at offense is the Eagles have absolutely controlled time of possession.

They had a turnover on downs after getting Stonewall two plays in a row and we'll see what they go into their bag of tricks here as they are so far back.

Two tight ends on the right, otherwise they have five linemen.

Ball hiked.

Looking like getting around the corner and he might just take that for a touchdown.

Does he got wheels?

He does not as the Eagles got the angle.

Nice job by Nate Nichols to bring that all the way over.

My goodness, it was a huge gain as they went from the six yard line all the way to the 31.

Wow.

If he was a faster player, oh my goodness, he was gone.

Good thing the Eagles had the angle.

Because they prevented a huge gain.

That was just a sweep.

He turned the edge and there was no one there.

Man, Nate had to come all the way across the field.

He was a defensive end on the right side.

And, uh, oh man.

We have Blake, first and 10 at their own 31-yard line.

Eagles got a plate contained there.

I'm feeling a lot of your pass rush isn't going to come up the middle here.

I think contain, maybe shift Dawson on the inside, but he's on the outside here.

There's that offense.

Ball handed off, and he's going to be swallowed up in the backfield.

Maybe a tackle for Law.

Nice job by the Schwamegen scrimmage eagles to not repeat what happened to play before, but utterly stopped them and is now second and 11th on the tackle.

Grant Beard, getting the ball.

He's got a couple good carries this game, but man, they are really identifying that when he touches the ball, you got to get to him early because, man,

when

he gets a full head of steam, Grant's a big kid.

6-0 Eagles, Eagles on defense, looking to stop the second and the left.

Two tight ends on the right, shotgun.

Blake has the ball, goes right, he's holding it, gets by one, and he's going to be tackled.

It's not a sack, but basically no game.

It's going to be 3rd and 11th and that's counting down all the way to zero here to end the first quarter.

And then you had about a nine yard sack.

That all, I mean, some sacks happen, but you kind of want them to be like two, three yards, not nine, right?

So that just moved that drive into almost unmanageable.

I think they just got to run at them.
