High School Baseball, Softball, and Girls Soccer are wrapping up
Baseball and softball seasons are ending. Track and Field State happens this week. LHS reveals new HOF class. Rafters struggle early.
WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WFHR / WIRI) – Wisconsin Rapids Baseball is the lone remaining baseball team in the Rapids area. They will face top-seeded Hudson on Thursday, June 4 at 5pm in Hudson.
The Raiders defeated New Richmond 9-8 on a walk-off two-RBI single by Gage Honeyager to extend the season.
All the softball teams have been eliminated from the playoffs with Nekoosa and Assumption falling in the regional finals.
Wisconsin Rapids Girls soccer lost to Eau Claire Memorial 3-1 to end the season. Assumption plays at Lodi on Thursday, June 4.

Track and Field athletes will compete at state
Athletes from Assumption, Nekoosa, and Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln will be competing at the WIAA State Track and Field championships at the Veterans Memorial Sports Complex at the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse over Friday and Saturday, June 5 and 6.
In Division 3, Assumption will be in action in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1600m, and 3200m runs in the Girls Division, while competing in the 800m, 1600m, 3200m runs, as well as the 4x200m and 4x400m relays for the Boys.
Nekoosa will compete in the Boys Pole Vault, High Jump, and the 4x100m relay.
Wisconsin Rapids will see action in the Division 1 Girls 400m run.
Four to be enshrined in LHS athletic Hall of Fame
The Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln athletic department announced the class of 2026 inductees to the Hall of Fame with four new members.
Dave Gause (1990), Gretchen (Engelbright) Kubeny (1988), John Hansen (2005), and long time teacher, football and wrestling Dennis Nelson.
They will have a ceremony to commemorate the event during the Friday, September 4 Football game against Stevens Point Area Senior High.
Rafters struggle early
Just over a week into the Northwoods League baseball season, the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters have struggled to find the win column early.
Rapids holds a 2-6 mark with two series losses to Green Bay, Madison, while splitting with Kalamazoo and Wausau.
Over the next week Rapids will play at Battle Creek, Wausau, and Madison, as well as hosting Madison and Battle Creek.
