In Grant County, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a crash that took place on Highway 151 near the intersection of Airport Road., in Jamestown township.

The Grant County Highway Department was actively repairing the roadway in the northbound lanes. County highway workers were working in front of a Highway Department truck and trailer that was acting as a protective barrier from oncoming traffic.

As workers were repairing the roadway, a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox, being driven by Lilyan Gruntorad, 19, (DeWitte, IA) crashed into the rear of a highway department truck at speeds estimated to be 70 + mph.

After the impact, the Equinox crossed into the northbound passing lane and struck a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee, being driven by Teresa Pluemer, 63, (Platteville).

As a result of the crash, Gruntorad and Pluemer were transported to Southwest Health Center by Dickeyville EMS & Southwest Health EMS.

No highway workers were injured in the crash.

Gruntorad was cited for inattentive driving and Fail to Slow Vehicle while Passing Stopped Emergency/Roadside Vehicle.
