The Richland School District’s Board of Education met last night at Richland Center High School.
District Administrator Steve Board reported, Wednesday night is scholarship night for Seniors, at 6:30 in the high school auditorium. Friday, May 29, is the last day with students for the school year, the graduation ceremony for the Class of 2026 will take place May 31, at 2 PM in the HS gymnasium. The last day with staff for the school year is Tuesday, June 2.
Hive Mind was successful, nearly 110 people attended each night, the steering committee has reconvened and is now going through the data – they will meet again next week. Information will be made public on the district website when it is ready at some point in June or July.
Board also indicated, although several teaching positions have been filled for next year, several openings remain in the special education department, which Board stated, “will be our biggest hurdle to fill, but it’s early in the process, this is happening in many districts.”
Brian Jones gave an update on referendum projects – the retention pond was not done correctly last summer, at the primary school, and will be addressed. At the high school, work continues on the new food lab for the ag department, and the welding shop, and parking lot work will begin June 1. There will be a video and ample signage to show the public how to access the property during the work on the parking lot, for food pickup, and activities in the gym or on the fields.
