Appleton Fire Department to host Lundgaard Park pavilion dedication and memorial unveiling
The Appleton Fire Department will host a public dedication ceremony for the Lundgaard Park Pavilion.
The ceremony will mark the completion of the newly constructed pavilion and its addition to the community. It will include a unique “hose uncoupling” in place of a traditional ribbon cutting, symbolizing the fire service and its connection to the community.
In addition to the pavilion dedication, the department will unveil memorial plaques honoring four Appleton firefighters who died in the line of duty, including Mitchell F. Lundgaard, the Appleton Fire Department Driver/Engineer that was killed in the line of duty on May 15, 2019. These plaques will serve as a permanent tribute to their service, sacrifice, and legacy within the department and community.
Event Information:
Date: Friday, May 15th, 2026
Time: 3:30 PM
Location: Lundgaard Park, 4900 N Lightning Dr, Appleton
The public is invited to attend and join in recognizing this important addition to the park, as well as honoring the firefighters who have served the City of Appleton.
