Child Abuse Suspect Arrested in FDL

RIPON, Wis (WRPN)- Fond du Lac Police took a 25-year-old man into custody this week suspected of causing injuries to an infant that required surgical intervention.

On March 17^th a then 52-day-old infant was treated at Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee for multiple rib fractures, a clavicle fracture, and a throat injury that required surgery. The baby was initially taken to St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac and transferred to Children’s due to the seriousness of the injuries.

The infant’s injuries prompted an investigation by Fond du Lac Police that led to detectives questioning a suspect on Tuesday and eventually arresting him. The infant had suffered additional injuries before those reported at Children’s.

The man is being held in the Fond du Lac County Jail on a charge of physical abuse of a child-reckless causation of bodily harm-a felony. The investigation remains ongoing.
