Riverdale picks up non-con win over Ithaca in softball

Riverdale won a non-conference softball game at Ithaca on Tuesday 5-2. It was a good competitive game throughout with the Chieftains scoring 3 runs in the 3rd.  Ithaca/Weston countered with single runs in the 3rd and 4th frames.

Leading 3-2 in the top of the 7th Riverdale added 2 insurance runs with a 2 run home run by Elaine Olson. She was 2 for 4 with 3 rbis for the game. Macey McCay was 2 for 4 and was the winning pitcher after going the distance with 6 strikeouts, 6 walks, and yielding 5 hits.

For Ithaca/Weston, Jacey Maxwell sufferend the pitching loss after striking out 8 and walking 4 while giving up 5 hits.  The leading hitters for Ithaca/Weston were Hailey McGlynn who was 2 for 3 with a walk and a sacrifice. Maxwell was 2 for 3 with a walk. Jadyn Boland was 1 for 3, and Maylee Pluemer walked twice and scored a run.  

With the 5-2 win, Riverdale is now 8-3 overall and will return to conference action at Fennimore on Thursday. It was the first loss of the season for Ithaca/Weston as they are now 7-1. They will host Kickapoo on Friday.
