The Appleton Fire Department, in partnership with several fire departments in the region, has launched a coordinated food truck fire inspection program to improve safety and streamline inspections for mobile food vendors.

The program allows operators to complete a single fire safety inspection recognized across participating communities, reducing duplicate inspections while maintaining consistent safety standards. Inspections focus on cooking equipment, fire suppression systems, fire extinguishers, generator and electrical safety.

“This new program is in direct response to feedback from small businesses about one of the hurdles they face in operating,” said Mayor Jake Woodford. “By streamlining the process, owners will have a clear, consistent understanding of what is required and won’t face additional fees in each participating community. I am grateful for the leadership of Division Chief Derek Henson in bringing this about, and to the participating communities for joining in this effort.”

Participating Fire Departments include Appleton, City of Fond du Lac, Fox Crossing, Grand Chute, Green Bay Metro, Harrison, Kimberly, Neenah-Menasha, and City of Oshkosh.

Vehicles that pass inspection will receive a compliance sticker annually and will be recognized by all participating departments.

Inspection events will be held throughout the region, offering vendors convenient opportunities to complete inspections. Upcoming dates include:
