Milwaukee County Office of Equity Announces 2026 Sustainability Summit. Summit Centers on Building Organizational Resilience in a Changing Landscape
(Milwaukee) April — The Milwaukee County Office of Equity, in partnership with Colorful Connections, announces the 2026 Milwaukee County Sustainability Summit, a strategic gathering designed to support community-based organizations and small businesses navigating financial uncertainty and shifting public narratives around equity and inclusion. The event will take place Tuesday, May 5, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Marcia P. Coggs Health and Human Services Center, 1230 W. Cherry St., Milwaukee. The cost of attending is free and is limited to the first 60 registrants.
The Summit will bring together executive directors, business owners, senior leaders, and key decision-makers from organizations working to advance community health and equity. Participants will take part in structured learning sessions, expert presentations, interactive workshops, and peer knowledge exchange—all aimed at strengthening long‑term organizational sustainability and sharpening strategic messaging in an evolving landscape. It supports Milwaukee County’s long-term vision of becoming the healthiest county in Wisconsin by bolstering organizations that advance quality of life and equity for all residents.
“Organizations across Milwaukee County are experiencing fiscal strain, narrative pressure, and increased uncertainty,” said Sumaiyah Clark, executive director of the Milwaukee County Office of Equity. “This Summit equips leaders with practical tools and language to navigate these challenges while reinforcing our shared commitment to equitable community impact.”
The Summit emphasizes practical application rather than a one-size-fits-all model. Attendees will engage with tools and frameworks they can immediately apply within their organizations and will receive a post-event toolkit to support continued work. This is not a funding announcement or grant opportunity.
Attendees can expect to learn about sustainability frameworks and how to:
• Structured presentations on sustainability frameworks and how to use narrative exploration to position your organization.
• Hands-on workshops covering messaging, adapting to shifting public/funder narratives, and diversified approaches to sustainability.
• Peer exchange and networking and more.
“Through their participation at the Sustainability Summit, we want our guests to leave with improved confidence in articulating their organizational impact, a starting sustainability planning framework, ideas for partnership or revenue diversification, and strengthened peer connections, said Clark.”
The registration deadline for the Sustainability Summit is Friday, April 24, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
