A man was struck by a vehicle after a crash in Grant County. Friday (March 27) evening, at approximately 10:07, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a report of a possible multi-vehicle crash on Highway 151, at Hill Climb Road, near Dickeyville. Deputies and first responders were dispatched to the scene.

When deputies and first responders arrived on the scene, they learned, Alan Hensiak, 79 of Union Grove, had been driving his vehicle on Hill Climb Road. When Hensiak attempted to enter the northbound lane of Highway 151, he struck a concrete barrier.

After Hensiak’s vehicle came to a rest and for an unknown reason he exited his vehicle and walked onto Highway 151. At that time, Jeffrey Weigel, 66 of Platteville, was traveling northbound onHighway 151 and struck Hensiak with the side mirror and quarter panel of his vehicle. Hensiak was transported to Mercy Medical in Dubuque, and ultimately transported by medical helicopter to Iowa City due to potentially life-threatening injuries. Weigel and his passengers were not injured and this incident remains under investigation.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Dickeyville Fire and EMS, Jamestown Fire and First Responders, Platteville Police Department and the UW Platteville Police Department.
