Firefighters battle blizzard to fight massive fire in Green Bay
High winds and freezing equipment hamper effores to get blaze under control
Listen:
GREEN BAY, Wis. (WGBW) – Firefighters from multiple agencies were battling a blaze fueled by blizzard conditions to fight a fire at Green Bay Converting Monday morning. People in the area of the Larsen Road business are being asked to shelter in place as soot is being blown throughout the area.
Crews were called to the business on Larsen Road around 7:45 AM where heavy black smoke was coming from the roof of one of the buildings. High winds and equipment freezing on site are hampering efforts to get the fire under control and generating a lot of smoke. Emergency crews are asking people not to call 911 if you see this smoke in the area.
Lt. Shauna Walesh with the Green Bay Metro Fire Department says no one was hurt as of 10 o’clock Monday morning. Green Bay Water officials say people who live west of Highway I-41 have lower than normal water pressure due to the massive amount of water being used to fight the fire.
