A protest is planned for March 16 to urge authorities to act

Wisconsinites from across the state are pleading that the government release the more than 1,900 dogs remaining at Ridglan Farms in Blue Mounds.

A collaborative letter urging Dane County District Attorney Ismael Ozanne to take action to release the beagles still at Ridglan Farms was signed by 108 Wisconsin humane societies and animal rescues and sent to him on multiple occasions in late February. Emily Anderson, founder of the group Coalition for No More Homeless Pets in Wisconsin, says no response has been received.

A peaceful vigil and nonviolent action is planned for Monday, March 16 at 8am at Ridglan Farms, located at 10489 W Blue Mounds Rd. in Blue Mounds. Protestors will be standing outside the facility holding white flowers and urging authorities to release the dogs to reputable rescues who are willing to take them in.

There is concern about the current conditions of the beagles still living at the facility, due to the 311 violations recently cited by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCAP) based on evidence of cruelty, mistreatment of animals and lack of proper shelter, and other charges.

When asked in February to share a statement about:

  • The current conditions of the dogs at their facility
  • Verified information about any improvements that have been made for the living conditions of the dogs in the last year
  • A request for a tour of their facility

The group claims Ridglan Farms did not respond.
