This here’s the kind of recipe invented when the moon’s high, the fridge light is the brightest thing in the house, and you’re hungry enough to consider eating ketchup on a tortilla. Luckily… you found better ingredients.
Ingredients
- 1 pack Roman (Ramen) noodles – flavor packet optional, depends how wild you’re feelin’
- 1 cooked chicken breast – preferably something you forgot about from supper
- 1 can Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom Soup
- A handful (or two… no judgment) of cheese
- A splash of water or milk if things start lookin’ like drywall paste
Instructions
Step 1 – Wake up the noodles
Boil your ramen noodles in a small pot. If you stare into the pot long enough you might start thinking about life choices, but ignore that and cook them about 3 minutes.
Step 2 – Chicken demolition
While the noodles are cooking, grab that cooked chicken breast and tear it apart with your hands like a raccoon in a campground trash can. Fancy folks call this “shredding.”
Step 3 – Dump the good stuff
Drain most of the noodle water (leave just a splash).
Now toss in:
- the shredded chicken
- the whole can of mushroom soup
- the cheese
Stir it like you’re mixing paint for a barn.
Step 4 – Apply hillbilly engineering
Turn the heat low and keep stirring until everything melts together into a mysterious creamy noodle swamp.
If it gets too thick, add a splash of milk or water. If it gets too thin… add more cheese. Cheese solves most midnight problems.
Step 5 – Optional wild move
If you’re feelin’ adventurous, sprinkle half the ramen seasoning packet in there. The other half should be saved in a drawer with soy sauce packets and batteries that may or may not work.
Serving suggestion
Eat it straight out of the pot while leaning on the counter in your socks, wondering why food tastes better when it probably shouldn’t exist.
