KENOSHA, Wis. (WRJN) – After 23 seasons, UW-Parkside and men’s basketball coach Luke Reigel are parting ways, ending one of the longest coaching tenures in program history.

Reigel led the Rangers to 336 wins, seven NCAA Division II Tournament appearances, and the program’s only NCAA tournament victory. He leaves as the school’s all-time leader in wins and a four-time conference Coach of the Year.

“On behalf of Ranger Athletics and the entire UW-Parkside community, we thank Coach Reigel for his dedication and leadership over the past two decades,” Athletic Director Adam Schemm said in a statement. “Luke’s commitment to our student-athletes and Parkside Athletics has been unwavering. He will always be a beloved member of the Ranger family.”

Parkside officials said a national search will begin immediately for the next head coach. Reigel, who has been a fixture on the sidelines since 2003, was known for building a competitive program and mentoring players on and off the court.

Before joining Parkside, Reigel was an assistant coach under Bo Ryan at UW-Platteville, where he won national championships as both a player and a coach. A native of Twin Lakes, Reigel also helped his father, Tom, capture a state championship at Wilmot High School.

School officials praised Reigel’s impact on the university and the region, calling him “a respected ambassador for Ranger Athletics” whose influence will be felt for years to come.
