
River Valley Girls pass first playoff test, now prepares for Edgerton
The River Valley girls basketball team passed the first test of the WIAA tournament with a 68-39 win over visiting Big Foot high school. The Blackhawks never trailed and built a big lead in the first half, fought off a rally by the Chiefs and led 41-22 at halftime. River Valley continued to build a lead they would not give up on the way to improving 16-9. Big Foot saw its season end at 11-13 with the loss.
Brooklyn Stokes scored 18 of her game high 20 points in the first half, Brooklyn White had 12 of her 18 points in the first half. Ella Myers had 8 points, Bella DeViney scored 7, Elizabeth Gostomski had 5, Heidi Hegland scored 4, Gina Klein, Hannah Burchfield, and Ella Hillebrand all added 2 points. The team made two three pointers and shot 6 for 11 from the line.
The Chiefs were led by Kate Hummel who made 5 three pointers and ended with 15, Leah Paulson had 12 points. Big Foot made 8 three pointers and shot 5 for 10 from the line.
With the 68-39 win, River Valley will now advance to the regional semi final on Friday night against Edgerton a team that had a first-round bye.
