CALEDONIA, Wis. (WRJN) – Another area department has gone through the process of police accreditation. The Caledonia Police Department has earned full accreditation from the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Accreditation Group, marking the completion of a two-year effort to meet statewide professional standards.

Chief Christopher Botsch and members of the department received the accreditation award Feb. 10 during the Wisconsin Chiefs of Police Conference.

WILEAG accreditation shows that a department meets high standards for how it’s run, how officers do their jobs, and how it serves the community. To earn it, outside reviewers make sure the department’s policies follow nearly 250 best‑practice guidelines.

“Accreditation pushes our organization to be intentional, consistent and accountable,” Botsch said in a statement. “It helps ensure we continue improving how we serve our community.”

Caledonia joins a small group of accredited departments in southeastern Wisconsin. The Mount Pleasant Police Department earned accreditation in November 2022, and the Kenosha Police Department also holds full accreditation through WILEAG.
