Six-Way School Board Race, Racine Council Primary Highlight Tuesday’s Ballot
KENOSHA, Wis. (WRJN) – Voters in Racine and Kenosha will head to the polls Tuesday for the state’s spring primary election, which includes a contested council race and school board seats.
In Kenosha, six candidates are competing for two open positions on the Kenosha Unified School Board. The top four vote-getters will move on to the April general election. Incumbents Yolanda Adams and Bob Tierney are seeking re-election. They face Robin Cullen, who ran unsuccessfully for the board last year; Indian Trail High School senior Jeremy Oster; former Kenosha alderman Pat Juliana; and Jack Lira, a parent making his first run for public office.
Racine voters will decide which two of four candidates advance in the primary for the 2nd District Common Council seat. The seat is currently held by Tyler Townsend, who was appointed after the death of longtime alderwoman Mollie Jones. His challengers are Alyson Weiss, Renisha Murillo and Rosalind Thomas. You can go deeper on the candidates at the Racine County Eye.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters in Racine’s 2nd Aldermanic District are eligible to cast ballots in that race, while Kenosha County residents in the district may vote in the school board primary.
You’ll need photo ID to vote, and same-day registration is available with proper documentation. Polling places and ballots can be found at MyVote.WI.gov.
