River Valley Boy’s pick up an SWC victory

River Valley won a SWC boys basketball game over Richland Center on Thursday night. The host Hawks picked up a 65-54 win over the Hornets and avenged a loss from earlier in the season to their long time rival. Richland Center rolled to a 30-20 halftime lead before River Valley began chipping away at the defecit and tied the score at 41 with 10 minutes to play. The Hawks held a 3 point lead with just over 3 minutes left and built the lead at the end with clutch free throw shooting.

Lucas Klein had 20 points to lead all scorers, Keagan Heiser had a strong 16, while Jackson Thatcher added 13 (all in the 2nd half) including 9 for 10 from the free throw line. Sumner Nachreiner had 8, Trevor Henkel had 4, Kaden Plumley made a three, and Quincy Blakely had 1 point. River Valley made 5 three pointers and they went 16 for 23 from the line.

Richland Center was paced by Brady Dosch with 16, Abe Bosworth totaled 14, Jayden Schoepp had 9 on three 3 pointers, and Deaky Heisz had 6 points. The Hornets connected on 6 three’s and they shot 2 for 6 from the line.

River Valley won the JV 1 game, 47-42 over Richland Center.

Following the 65-54 win, River Valley is now 10-7 overall. They will play Sauk Prairie next week. Richland Center fell to 4-10 overall. They will play at Decorah, Iowa on Saturday in a non-league game.
