Muscoda Community Blood Drive responds, donations always needed
Sixty-two units of blood were collected yesterday (Tuesday) at the Muscoda Community Blood Drive. Registration volunteers were Kate Frazier and Jacquie Schmaedick. Pleasant Valley A.M. Church served refreshments and provided homemade baked goods. The next Muscoda Community Blood Drive will be held Tuesday, March 24, from 11:30a to 5:30p and is available for scheduling now.
The need is always great
The American Red Cross is teetering on a blood shortage this winter, which could lead to a disruption in lifesaving care. The Red Cross blood supply is under pressure following a busy holiday season when winter weather and packed schedules made it even tougher to ensure hospitals have the blood products needed for critical care. Without immediate action, doctors may have to make difficult decisions about which patients receive blood transfusions and who will need to wait.
Donors with types O, A negative and B negative blood are especially needed now. Donors are urged to make an appointment to give blood or platelets now.
A blood drive will be held Monday (January 19) from 11:30a to 5:30p at South Elementary School in Reedsburg. A blood drive will also be held Friday, January 23, from Noon to 4:00 at Messianic Christian Fellowship in Black Earth.
Don’t wait – make an appointment to give blood or platelets now by visiting RedCrossBlood.org, downloading the Red Cross Blood Donor App or calling 1-800-RED CROSS.
