Several Richland County Board Supervisors have declared their candidacy, deadline to file is near

If you plan to run for office in 2026, the deadline to submit your nomination paperwork, or to file for candidacy is tomorrow (Tuesday) at 5:00. 

Several Richland County Board Supervisors have declared their candidacy for re-election. They include: Mary Miller serving District 2; Randy Schoonover serving District 3; Sandra Kramer in District 4; Richard McKee in District 5; Larry Engel serving District 6; Tiffany Thompson serving District 9; Melvin “Bob” Frank in District 15; Kerry Severson in District 16; and Steve Williamson serving District 17. Several current board members have filed non-candidacy, they are Alayne Hendricks in District 7; Gary Manning in District 8; Chad Cosgrove in District 14; and Julie Fleming in District 19. Shirley Welte has filed to run to serve District 8, and Michael Windle has filed nomination paperwork to serve in District 14. Several are still circulating nomination forms, they are: incumbent Steve Carrow in District 1; Steve Meyer in District 7; incumbent Rod Perry in District 11; incumbent Dave Turk in District 13; incumbent Marc Couey in District 18; and incumbent Daniel McGuire in District 21. There are currently no candidates declared for Districts 10, 12, 19, and 20.

In the city of Richland Center Mayor Todd Coppernoll and Alderperson Ron Fruit have declared non-candidacy. Fruit currently represents District 1 Wards 1,2, & 3. Other city seats up for election in 2026 are: District 2, Wards 4, 5, & 6 represented by Tom McCarthy; District 3, Wards 7, 8, & 9 represented by Doug Martyniuk; and District 4, Wards 10, 11, & 12 represented by Ryan Cairns.

Three seats are up for election in the Richland School District. They are for Area 1 East and two Area 4 at Large Seats. The incumbents, Jill Sharp, Sheila Troxel, and Tiffany Thompson have all file for candidacy.

In the River Valley School District, Aaron Maes has filed paperwork to run for the school board to represent Area 1, the Village of Arena, currently held by Kathy Jennings. Jennings filed non-candidacy. Incumbents Sara Carstensen representing Area 4, the Village of Lone Rock and Pam Gauger in Area 2, the Town of Arena, have filed to run for re-election.

The Spring Election will be held Tuesday, April 7.
